Why? Because fruits contain fructose, which causes weight gain, insulin resistance, fatty liver disease and is as addictive as cocaine (according to Dr. Lustig). This could not be further from the truth. Think about it, the sugar in FRUIT is going to cause all these diseases. If you think this and afraid of fruit for these reasons, you need to have a serious talk with yourself. 🔹 Maybe if we took in excessive amounts when we are in a hypo-metabolic state, come from low carb dieting, etc where are body is already converting sugar to fat. Of course you are going to see symptoms and have some negative results. But, is it the fructose or the metabolism it is being introduced to? 🔹 Research shows that the use of fructose with a controlled food frequency actually causes weight loss, not weight gain. Why? Because once fructose is SLOWLY introduced to the body, it is converted to glucose for energy storage and uptake by your 37.2 trillion cells. Fructose is very thermogenic, does NOT stimulate insulin which improves glycemic control. It is almost impossible to find fructose by itself in nature. It is usually paired with glucose, such as most fruits which is called SUCROSE (fructose + glucose). This is very important and even more regulating to the system because fructose inhibits the insulin spike by glucose. Meaning, we have controlled secretions of inulin and buffers against low blood sugar. 🔹 FRUCTOSE FACTS: 👉🏻Fructose can enter our cells to be used as energy, without the aid of insulin. Fructose & sucrose free vegan mug brownie! -1/4 cup flour -2 tbsp cocoa powder -1/4 cup rice malt syrup (or other sugar replacement) -pinch of salt -2 tbsp oil -3 tbsp water Mix ingredients in a mug and microwave for 1 minute 40 seconds. Careful as the mug can be quite hot. Done, enjoy this easy microwave dessert! *note this Adventure Time mug is huge but the mixture should fill a standard sized mug nicely.

This topic seems to be most confusing for those with #tummytroubles - do I go #lowfodmap or #glutenfree to end my #bloating #abdominalpain and #pooproblems? 🤔💩 • The answer isn't exactly straight forward - whether or not you need either of these diets, or a combination of both, will depend on your diagnosis. Those needing a #glutenfreediet i.e. those with #celiacdisease with #IBSsymptoms need a #glutenfreediet for life, to avoid risk of intestinal damage related to gluten ingestion. Diagnosis of celiac disease is done by a doctor. Those needing a #lowfodmapdiet should have a diagnosis of #irritablebowelsyndrome by their doctor. Getting the right diagnosis will help determine which diet you should follow to help you manage your symptoms. Gluten is the protein found in wheat, rye, barley, oats, triticale, and in many packaged food products containing these ingredients. #FODMAPs are carbohydrates, and while they are found in wheat, rye, barley and in many packaged food products, they are also found in many legumes, fruits, vegetables and dairy products and nut 'milks'. • If you come across a food product labelled 'gluten free' and 'low FODMAP', make sure you keep an eye out for certification logos on product packaging to make an informed choice - the @coeliacaus endorsement logo and @monashfodmap @fodmapfriendlyfoodprogram logos are ones to keep an eye out for, as their presence means the food has been tested and returned 'no' (gluten) or 'low' (fodmap) results. • ✔A good example of food products which tick both gluten free and low FODMAP boxes are the @scharglutenfree @monashfodmap certified range.
