ah another question for you then! what was Jack and Pitch's reaction over everything that happened post Game Theory à la Gwyn and his alignment + unseelie kingship? they're not really mentioned in TCOFT and the other interludes as far as I've read them. I'm really curious what they think in general... if they've got the news at all

I've actually answered this question a bunch, but a long time ago, so I'll find some responses for you. It's a really interesting question but the answers are all very tragic and heartbreaking.

They're not mentioned in The Court of Five Thrones because they no longer exist to me in that universe, and they were formally removed and replaced by the Nightingale and Terho the Mouse Lad (I don't know if you read it, but there's literally a story with this name bridging between Game Theory and The Court of Five Thrones which bridges this transition!)

And the reason for that is, TL;DR, Jack and Pitch would loathe Gwyn for the events of Game Theory, (link is to the long response), and it's entirely likely that Jack's PTSD would relapse in the process. As a result of that I think of SAL and Game Theory as two separate timelines.

But yeah the reason they're never mentioned again is pretty intentional, I stopped wanting them to be a part of the series long before Game Theory ended. I want Jack and Pitch to keep their happy ending, and they can't, if they're involved in the Fae Tales canon. Eventually they'll be written out of it!

This fanfic is extremely near and dear to my heart, and I'm so excited to have a physical copy to pick up anytime I'm craving a reread! This was also my first binding project where everything was self-made, from sewing the pages together to making my own book cloth, and of course designing the cover and putting it all together! It's hardly a perfect binding, but it carries all my love for this series & Blackice in those imperfections.

As a show of good faith toward the remaining Decepticons at the beginning of a new, united Cybertron, newly appointed Senators Bumblebee and Soundwave allowed Shatter and Dropkick to enlist into Autobot City's Defense Team.

These two turned out to be... not the best choices.

The city may have fallen to Insurgent Decepticon occupation had it not been for young recruits Hot Rod and Arcee's accidental interception of Shatter's communication with the fugitive Starscream.

To replace the errant Defense Team members, Springer and Blurr were reassigned from Iacon to Autobot City in their stead.

In grief of AR 15 not dropping I made Petro and Wisp angst.

I think Petro's mother dying was the Wisp/Angle of Darkness doing. She very much acts as Petro's mother figure, and she's very much for sabotage to a point of risking or even sacrificing life to do so for her own gain. So if she needed a magic user to do her biding that was vulnerable so she could use them, killing and then impersonating their mother would definitely work.

Visually, aesthetically, conceptually, stuff like Dark Super Sonic and Fleetway's psychopathic Super Sonic are cool, buuuuuut...Sonic as a character is incorruptable. He IS an ideal. Almost literally. He IS freedom.

That's what the whole deal with the Werehog is. Dark Gaia can't corrupt him because he's so strong willed and true to himself he can only influence his body.

i think lots of us forget what truly makes art and media so captivating; the ability to he transported into a different point of view, and to view the world from a new perspective, one that you never would've understood had you not stumbled upon the narrative that you're reading. pigeonholing yourself into a genre seems so common nowadays, but media consumption has always been about understanding how other people see the world we live in!!

Hello, I wanted to let you know that I find your works relatable, and that I'm grateful for you writing them. In From the Darkness we Rise, it was so relatable when Jack had to put on that facade to make North think that he was okay. It really reminds me a lot of my current circumstances, and I feel like that's the only thing that gets me. Nothing else does.

I'm glad you've found a situation/character to relate to. You're definitely not alone. Sometimes part of life is finding more and more things we relate to that capture our experiences that we feel are unique, only to find out they're not, and that a lot of people 'get' what we're going through.

The thing that's rough with masking (putting on a facade) is that...the people who are doing this often can't find the other people who know what this feels like because...they're all masking around each other. And it can take a while to feel safe enough, or to find people safe enough to practice dropping that facade with. It can be a scary experience, but often that's when we feel seen, or find the people that truly do 'get' us.

It is, unfortunately, really common for many of us to hide who we are, or pretend that we're fine when we're not, or find a way to seem like everything's okay when we're really suffering. It's a very human experience, especially for people who don't feel safe, or like no one will ever really understand them. And while life is about finding people who will get it, it can be rough and lonely and isolating.

One of the reasons I write the stories I do, as well as experiences like this, is because it's something I've felt myself in my own life, and I think it's something lots of other lonely people have felt as well, especially folks who heavily mask who they really are from others (and really thinking of folks with autism here who do this, as well as other neurodivergent folks).

Fiction is how we figure out how to be as people. It's where we see ourselves, where we see practicing other ways of being a person, where we can see experiences of what we want to have and don't want to have.

In that series, Jack actually realises that he can drop the mask with North, and that his fear that North won't want anything to do with him if he realises Jack isn't fine, is false. It takes some growth on North's part, and North realises he needs to do better by Jack and says so, and it's in that communication, and the bravery on both their sides, to heal that relationship. By the end, Jack feels much more comfortable showing North who he really is, and he gains a father figure out of it.

I am sorry for the loneliness and isolation you feel, anon, and I hope you find more narratives that 'get it' - and more characters (and people) to connect to over time!
