Speculation/analysis/thoughts inspired by this post/a conversation with @stuck-in-jelly.
*deep breath*
This might just be me wanting Corvus to play a bigger role in the show. But walk with me here, okay?
We’ve all seen the Ezran and Corvus parallels. Visually, lines, beliefs.
Throughout The Dragon Prince, Corvus has been slowly but surely becoming more the “let’s talk this out” type of person, who would rather try to figure out the peaceful options before resorting to violence. Ever since we actually start getting to know Corvus in season 2, he has consistently been positive (if anxious, which is a mood) and looking for the best in situations. In season 3 and season 6, specifically, he supports all of Ezran’s goals when dealing with other rulers (Kasef and Karim), truly believing in him and his ideals, even when others wrote Ezran off as childish and naive.
Ezran, however… well, we all saw season 7. He seems to also be seeing his ideals as childish and naive, having no place in the “real world.” Ezran is slowly by surely leaning towards a propensity for violence first, not talking things through. The Archdragons’ sacrifice staved off that violence for a little bit. Helped bring back his more forgiving tendencies, as seen in the season 7 finale. But I can absolutely see him getting desperate again as Aaravos’s return gets closer and closer in The Dragon King.
I know this is so far in advance, but I’d love if Corvus was the one to eventually reel Ezran back from the edge. Maybe Corvus tells Ezran about his past (Corvus backstory I NEED YOU). Inevitably, it probably is something angsty dealing with death, elves, dragons, and overall violence.
Ezran responding like, “So how are you so calm about all of this? You should be angry, too.”
And Corvus just smiles and is like “You, Ezran. As a child, you taught me that peace and talking things through is always an option. It’s always better to try to see the best in the world, in people, in others than automatically assuming the worst.”
And eventually they all live happily ever after in peace YAY
#RAHH YESYEYSYESY#that would be such a good arc for both of them!!!#and it's mirrored through their character designs too#like most kids are literal representations of hope and all things good both on a story level and also in real life#but kids grow up and get angrier and somewhat lose that 'positivity' if you will#so it's a good arc for them to lose that BUT for them to bring it back so it's part of their character and not their age?#gimme#and your quote from corvus (which should exist are you secretly on the writing team?)#would be corvus reminding ezran about WHAT he's done and WHO he is#like corvus came from being a soldier with a hatred against elves - like all humans - which we see when he meets rayla for the first time#whilst he tracks ezran and callum#then ezran is the one to tell him things aren't as they seem to him#aren't as obvious as they appear#and observation is a key part of corvus both in character and his role#so ezran is this kind of catalyst for corvus to kind of challenge everything he knows right?#like 'if elves dragons and xadia aren't as bad as i thought#so then ezran has taught corvus to be open#to look for other routes#so corvus is then the one to challenge what ezran thinks as a young adult#he challenges what he's grown up to believe and embody#as someone who has also been challenged - DIRECTLY AFFECTED - by ezran#to then teach him and lead him back to his truth#like soren and corvus are support and understanding for each other#ezran and corvus reaffirm each other's identities and how they treat others#like this is summarising a lot of things that you could probably say LOADS about#but i think their relationship is underrated and i want there to be more in arc three :DDD#the dragon prince#the dragon king#ezran#corvus
