Hi. Maybe I could just tell you this because I know youre here, too, but it just feels more appropriate putting it here. As much as I love you, I really miss how we were before. You were honestly my everything, you got me through everything. I dont know how I got so lucky knowing you. Everything feels so much different here. Sure, its really hard to avoid you, but its hard to see your face when everything is so foggy right now. I miss your face. I miss hugging you, I miss you, I even kinda miss the college. I miss Flow, I miss everyone, really. Mostly, I miss you. Youre right next to me, yeah, but it doesnt feel like you. It feels like a version of you. The version of you is great, too, but its not you. And maybe Im also a version. Maybe you feel this way, too. I wish we could go back, I would get burned a thousand times just to be normal with you again. I find it unfathomable and astounding that Tumblr isn't more obsessed with Sam Reich. You're telling me there exists out there a man who was born into the aristocracy of our country—with every privilege of modern society at his fingertips—who didn't complete high school (due to his mental health) and instead chose to devote his life to making strangers laugh and raising awareness on mental health. A full-bearded short king who is so committed to being the change he wants to see in the world that he decided to take the company he worked for into his own hands so that he could make sure all the people who worked under him could keep their livelihoods.

How many other CEOs are out here being as honest and transparent with their target audience/market as Sam Reich is? How many of them acknowledge when they fumble and continuously strive to be better than they were? How many of them actually seem like they respect their talent, both in the cast and crew? Sam Reich is the standard we should be holding other CEOs to.

But forget about all that (I could talk for a long time about the respect I have for Sam Reich)—ignore just how respectable he is as a businessman and a person. Ignore all the wholesome reasons for obsessing over Sam Dalton Reich.

The man is a stone-cold fox.

He's a little chaos gremlin and an absolute evil mastermind all rolled into one classy suit and well-groomed beard. Whenever Sam is on the set, you can guarantee he is going to make you crack a smile. And for someone with such natural authority, he's never afraid to be the butt of a joke and show himself being embarrassed. Go ahead, watch any clip of him trying to improvise in No Laugh Newsroom and just try to resist that blush.

don't stress about that opportunity that fell through or that friend you lost or that thing you really want to happen but isn't. as long as you keep your chin up and try try try again, better things will replace your losses. i'm looking at my life rn and actually marveling at how every single thing i stressed about, whether it be an opportunity or a person, got supplanted w another thing that is so much better. it really is true that loss makes space for better things. these days i don't get sad when something doesn't work out. i get excited that i'm now open to so many other possibilities out there, so long as i actively seek them. you never lack. you just transition.

Be deeply suspicious of those whose only responses to Americans right now are, "vote!" and "we told you this would happen." Be wary of folks for whom, "Resist!" is a slogan and not a set of actionable tasks.

Challenge those who don't see a need to put out current fires or prepare people to be resilient should the recent Executive Orders become enforceable.

Resist becoming one of these people whose only reaction right now is to lash out. Understand we will have imperfect allies, but also shut down behavior that seeks to only continue the vicious circle of vent-posting.

We all need to vent and draw attention to our frustrations, but it's important not to feel locked in a spiral of helplessness.

I urge folks to be mindful of what they choose to amplify right now - be angry, but try to be actionable.

I urge folks to evaluate who they choose to follow about politics - is it all glib "what did you expect"s, is it all memes about this admin's hypocrisy, or are they sharing how to help in this moment?

And if you do still feel the most passionate about calling politicians, give people the tools on how to do that effectively. Don't just fucking berate folks.
