Oh, I wanted to ask, if you have any advice about finding poses for your stories. I mean, do you have a hard time finding exactly what you want? Because I do, and it frustrates me!

I'm doing okay- working a lot. I love my job but right now it's been very busy; the busy periods alternate with quieter times, but that's not the case right now, sadly. It sucks, because I wish I had more time to play and tell my stories. I haven't made much progress with Eero and Ryu, but their story is written out and most of the builds are ready to go!

As far as poses go, I'm just floored by this community's creativity and talent. I've been fortunate in that I have found most of the poses I need. I've tried making poses, and it is time consuming (I'm so cute saying poses, but really I made ONE pose and that was it)! There are tons of great creators! Some of my favorites are by @natalia-auditore, @herecirmsims, @simmireen, @helgatisha. This is by no means a complete list of faves (and it does not include the pose stealers or permapaywallersgotohellgreedybastards)! I also use @ts4-poses a lot.

When I imagine a scene, I have an idea of what I want to have happen, but I let whatever poses I already have (or find) inspire my dialogues- and maybe this is to my detriment, because I forgo a certain storytelling vision and precision when I do this. It's rare that I'll imagine a scene with a very specific pose in mind. It'll usually be something like, "these two characters are eating and having a chat in this part" and I'll pull up my poses involving eating (by the way, @twistedmexi's Searchable Pose Player is just GENIUS and it has made blocking stories so much easier) and then let the end result help me propel the story forward. I'm not an expert, but I hope this helps a little!

Eldritch/not-entirely-human Grunkle Stan stories have been eating away at my brain, so I have a silly little concept of Mimic!Stan.

He and his Mystery Shack are both mimics that lure tourists in as a literal "tourist trap" to gather and devour them! Since the house is alive, it raises a few (read: several) child safety concerns that lead to a LOT of rules to be created for Dipper and Mabel to follow when they eventually arrive, such as:

Be careful not to get lost in the winding hallways! The Mystery Shack is bigger on the inside, and you don't want to end up in the wrong areas.

Don't go through randomly appearing doors, they may eat you.

If you think you feel the walls around you breathing and the floor beneath you shifting, no, you don't.

If you think the walls feel a bit damp, you're imagining it.

Watch your fingers around windowsills! You wouldn't want to lose any of them.

Don't linger too long under the doorframes; it may start feeling like they are slowly constricting around you.

Sky Fish

So. Haven't posted in a while. But I have knowledge I NEED to share with the world. I can't think of a funny way to portray it so... -serves it up on a platter-

The Sky Fish familiar that Marcille makes in episode 22 / chapter 48.

This is "real".

This is the cryptid or UMA (read: yu-ma or Unidentified Mysterial Animals) known in Japan as the Sky Fish, and in English as a flying rod or rod.

So like, this is actually a thing. Japanese TV loves UFOs and Cryptids (or maybe I'm biased because my Beetle is the one who's obsessed but.) the timing for This Specfic Cryptid's popularity and when Ryoko Kui was writing/starting out with this story, are around the same time. This specific UMA had such an impact on me when i first saw it in TV 10ish years ago, that I was so excited about its appearance, and then confused and amused in equal measure when my Capybara had no idea what I was talking about.

AND THE TV SHOW I WATCHED! the original episode clip is still on youtube, although lacking English subtitles (although you can translate the auto generated subtitles to English if you want to try).

Basically, Jose Escamilla of Roswell, New Mexico (and several other sources around middle and South America) caught this UMA/Cryptid on video in 90s? But the story and other people catching them on video and in pictures still pop up, but with improved phone cameras, the proof that it's likely just bugs flying at just the right frame rate to make a long cat style image is more prevalent lol.

But this was/is a super popular UMA in Japan. Like, there are gacha minis, and figures, cryptid books, and other anime featuring these lil guys.

JoJo's bizarre adventures Stone Ocean's Sky High stand, Skytails from Zelda, and a Kemono Friend are some examples.

I want a lil sky fish figurine now...

But yea...
