Let them live…

Just some late night thoughts… I am seeing a lot of people shocked and in disbelief following recent events which is leading them to make hateful comments like “I cannot believe Nic would lust after a 24 year old kid, so childish wearing a ring with his initial” and “they kept telling us Luke was so kind and now it turns out he’s been hiding his gf and letting her take all this hate without coming to her defence.”

For months, I could not understand where all the hate is coming from but I am realising now that all of this is coming from people putting these 2 human beings on a pedestal. It has been obvious for months now that Nic and Luke are dating other people and you may criticise some of their choices, that is fine, but it does not make them bad people and it does not negate everything we already know about them. The reality is these 2 people are just human beings like you and I. They are flawed, they make mistakes and they may not always make decisions that you agree with. They are not puppets that will behave according to your whims. And frankly, the only mistake they are guilty of right now is what? Not dating each other? How is that fair?

If you do not like them anymore that is fine, you can stop being their fan and leave them in peace. If you are still their fan, please be respectful and be mindful of what you say publicly. They see what we talk about and they take it to heart, especially Luke. Do not hurt them because you are angry that they did not turn out to be the versions of themselves that you made them out to be in your mind. If you want to be angry and vent, fine, do that in private chats and keep it as far away from them as possible.

My advice is to take a step back and truly reflect on why you are feeling a certain type of way and realise that these 2 beautiful people are just regular people living their lives, learning from their mistakes and evolving like the rest of us. The only difference is that everything they do is publicised, put under a microscope and scrutinised.

So, please be kind and understanding.

The Letters

People seem to be misinterpreting this scene and thinking that the bigger bundle of tightly bound letters are those that Colin received from his family while traveling. But if you look closely:

These letters are addressed to London, the top one says “Miss — Bridgerton”: they’re letters from Colin to his family. Letters he never sent.

It’s made clear in S3E1 that the Bridgertons didn’t hear much from him that summer, and even less when he came back - and who could blame him, when last year they remarked that he wouldn’t shut up about his travels.

But Penelope… she let him be the excited boy who just wanted to talk about his adventures, and I know that must have felt great. When he didn’t have a lot, he still had her. She let him be who he wanted to be.

And I think he realized, seeing the letters he never sent - the parts of himself he hid away - and the freedom Penelope gave him through the simple act of writing back, that he needed to do the same for her, and let her be whoever she wanted to be.

He was going to love her anyway.

You shouldn't be mad at Nicola or Luke. Nicola herself has always said they're friends.

You should be mad at the people on this app, on tiktok and twitter and even YouTube, who sold you lies and fake theories. They're the ones that led you on. Tarot card readers and "creators". A few of them on here brainwashed you to believe shit that isn't real. Take a take step back and see the truth. They made you a prey to their manipulation.

Reflections on forks are not concrete. Not every blonde in the corner of a blurry picture is Nicola and no every white man with a similar hair cut is Luke.

They created essays out of not even real circumstantial "evidence". The reaches and assumptions made were astronomical, instead of taking things as face value.

These blogs and accounts showed you fake crumbs that they made and you ate it up. That's on you and them, but it's not on Nicola and Luke.

Be careful with these blogs and people who will continue to lie and misguide you. Now they are trying to lie to you with tales of a fake pregnancy they're pushing onto Nicola, because this "must be a distraction" to hide fake baby and secret relationship with Luke.

Nicola and Luke have been clear from the beginning, but that was too much for you to accept so you chose to seek comfort in lies.

Everything can be a conspiracy theory when you're vulnerable and in search for answers when the reality is too much for you to bear with.

It's on you and the people you chose to believe in your time of crisis and denial.

The way some of y'all talk about Luke Newton is just. . .I need this fandom to check itself with a swiftness, because the very thinly veiled ableism is ENOUGH. Like it is WILD to see, in the year of our lord 2024, people either actively infantalizing or talking down this grown man.

Calling Luke Newton stupid for behaviors that are just him displaying his Neurodivergence? Ableism. Saying it because it takes him longer to answer a question is ableism. Saying it because he said something 'incorrectly' or not as eloquently on the fly as his neurotypical costars? Ableism.

Saying he's boring because he's quiet or he doesn't talk as much (because he often needs more processing time and/or has anxiety to surmount) is ableism. Knitpicking his social media and how he doesn't interact as much with a fandom that has actively been cruel to him is ableism.

Assuming Luke is out here like some helpless little lamb clinging to Nicola because 'oh, she's his comfort person!' instead of recognizing that they both lean on and like each other? Is ableism. Saying he has a one sided infatuation with her BECAUSE he needs her as said comfort person is ableism. Essentially being all 'awwww, poor wee baby, he has anxiety so thankfully his neurotypical costar is there to pick up the slack!' is. ableism. You cannot in one breath say that Nicola's love language is touch but also that Luke is the only one ever reaching to hold her hand because he needs her to ground him. That's ableism.

They both like each other. They have a very close relationship and they both clearly admire the other and like to be around one another. To frame it as him being some inept toddler and her as his more capable caretaker and 'thank God he has her to give him the save' is ableism! That's ableism, babes!! And in many cases people don't recognize that's what they're taking part in, but that's what it is.

He is a grown man and a hell of an actor. Yes, he's quieter than some of his costars. Yes, he contemplates what he says in his mind before he says it, and it takes him some time to do so. Yes, he doesn't behave the way his neurotypical peers do. He doesn't have to. He won't- because he has a neurodivergent brain. And he shouldn't have to behave as a neurotypical person or an 'acceptable' neurodivergent person to have respect from people who claim to be his fans.

He's been outspoken and unapologetic about being a neurodivergent actor with ADHD and dyslexia and how that can contribute to difficulties in the current media machine. He has discussed his coping mechanisms. He has specifically done so because he knows how difficult it can be to be a neurodivergent person in the limelight, and he uses that spotlight to show other neurodivergent actors they can be successful, too. And people saw this openly neurodivergent man and said some mad out of pocket nonsense about him.

As the tour comes to a close, I just really need people to look back on their beliefs and viewpoints during it and do some reflection, because I am side-eying a LOT of takes that have gone largely uncontested.

The amount of hate I am seeing everywhere directed at Nicola Coughlan is unreal and so disappointing (some of it even getting into my asks, please stop). This woman has done nothing wrong other than happily living her life and getting her bag. The hate reeks of jealousy.

It’s even more disappointing that some of it is coming from so-called Luke fans. You guys realise this man does not play about that woman, right? You understand that he would hate you for all the shit you say about her, right?

And for the people hating on her for some of her business decisions, I hope you understand the invaluable impact this woman alone has made in raising awareness and helping the situation in Gaza. She was speaking about this horrific injustice as early as October 2023! When nobody else dared to and people were still too scared to speak up. That woman alone raised millions and millions of pounds for that cause and other honourable causes. So excuse her for doing ONE SINGULAR skims campaign, looking hot af and getting her bag. That woman has done way more than most people and inspired so many to follow suite. And that’s all I’ll say on that matter.
