this is not that hot of a take and has been said before but the hottification of the TSH characters is directly antithetical to the message of the book. there are characters who have been stated to be canonically not conventionally attractive (henry, francis, bunny in richard's opinion). I've seen some people claim that they facecast these characters (particularly henry) as hot because it directly affects how they feel about the character and how redeemable they seem to be, which is like, that is EXACTLY richard's flaw throughout the whole book lmao. im not like trying to control how people consume media or anything and if you want to view TSH as a guilty pleasure sexy dark academia novel with sexy characters committing crimes in a dark mysterious and cool way that's totally your choice but you should at least be aware that that romanticisation is exactly what donna tartt set out to criticise when she wrote TSH

I am innocently sitting in art with my students when the art teacher rewards them with a video about color theory and I am shown personified colors and suddenly it's like a @respectthepetty post but for kids.

I mean, fair play to the man actually, it is quite a cute sign of Crozier's care for and knowledge of his crew that he knows offhand Diggle will like getting the pick of his personal stores, and the challenge of creating a fancy meal for the impending visitors - "He'll enjoy that!" :)

I was watching a YouTube review for The Secret History, and the person voiced that there was nothing sad about Bunny’s death and that one could really only be happy about it, and that Francis was just there vibing the whole novel, not doing anything wrong. And that’s when I clicked off the review. I mean, this is fiction so you’re welcome to be happy Bunny died. He’s not real and also functions as a part of a story, and if you’re glad he’s out of there, fine. But I’m sorry I just do not think that was a happy occasion or that Francis was “just vibing.” 😭
