How to Apply Cream Foundation Like a Pro for Achieving Flawless Glow
Introduction
Using a cream foundation may seem like an easy task. However, with precision, you can get exemplary results that not only enhance your natural beauty but also give you a radiant, flawless glow. The key lies in understanding the product and mastering the technique of application.
In this blog, we will share how you can achieve a flawless glow by applying a cream foundation like a professional makeup artist. Additionally, we will recommend a Colorbar product that is specifically designed to give you a flawless finish and long-lasting coverage. With the right tools and techniques, you can achieve a professional makeup look at home with ease.
Tumblr media
Step 1: Choose the Right Cream Foundation
Choosing the right foundation cream for women is crucial for achieving a flawless finish. The first step is to understand your skin type. The main skin types are dry, oily, and combination. On top of that, you might be dealing with concerns like dullness, dehydration, breakouts, and sensitivity.
Once you’ve identified your skin type, the next step is to determine your undertones. This is key to picking the best foundation color to match your skin, so you don’t end up looking unnaturally orange or pink.
An All-Rounder Suggestion - Colorbar Amino Skin Radiant Cream
Now, let’s talk about the Colorbar Amino Skin Radiant Cream Foundation. This foundation for face makeup is available in a wide range of shades, catering to various skin tones and undertones. It’s important to choose a shade that matches your skin tone for a natural, seamless look.
Tumblr media
The Colorbar Amino Skin Radiant Cream Foundation is not just makeup, it’s also skincare. It’s formulated with Lysine, an essential amino acid, that boosts collagen synthesis. This means it not only covers imperfections but also enhances your skin’s health and appearance.
Step 2: Preparation Before Application
Before you start applying your face foundation, it’s crucial to prepare your skin properly. This involves a three-step process: cleansing, toning, and moisturizing.
Cleanse Your Skin: Start by cleansing your face with a gentle face wash. This will remove any dirt, oil, or makeup from your skin, ensuring that the foundation goes on evenly and doesn’t get clogged in your pores.
Exfoliate Your Skin: Next, use an exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin cells. This step is essential as it helps the foundation to glide on smoothly and evenly.
Moisturize Your Skin: Lastly, apply a lightweight moisturizer to your skin. This will help it stay hydrated and create a smooth base for the foundation.
Step 3: Master the Art of Applying Cream Foundation
Applying cream foundation can seem daunting, but with the right technique, you can achieve a flawless finish. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply a cream foundation for full coverage:
Moisturize Your Skin: Start by applying a moisturizer to your face and allow it to absorb into the skin for several minutes. This will ensure that your skin is well-hydrated and ready for the foundation application.
Apply the Foundation: Once your face is dry, apply the Colorbar Amino Skin Radiant Cream Foundation. Use a sponge or foundation brush for this step. Start from the center of your face and work the product in circular motions outwards.
Blend Well: The key to a natural-looking, full-coverage finish is blending. Make sure to blend the foundation well into your skin, paying special attention to your jawline and hairline to avoid any obvious foundation lines.
Set Your Makeup: After you’ve applied and blended the foundation, it’s time to set your makeup. This step is crucial as it helps your makeup stay in place throughout the day. You can use a setting powder or setting spray for this step.
Bottom Note
Remember, the key to a flawless glow is not just the application but also choosing the right shade and preparing your skin properly. With Colorbar Cosmetics, you have a wide range of shades to choose from, catering to various skin tones and undertones.
So, why wait? Elevate your face makeup game with the Colorbar Amino Skin Radiant Cream Foundation and achieve that flawless glow you’ve always desired. Happy glowing!

ok but what are YOUR favorite and probably real victorian funfacts?
There genuinely were some doctors who thought riding in trains would cause uterine prolapse [uterus falling out], when trains were new. The concern was that the vibrations from travelling so fast would break the fibers connecting the uterus to the abdominal wall. Unsurprisingly, this did not stop women from riding in trains. Because fuck that noise- trains!!!
One time in the 1840s a bunch of doctors shellacked live horses and rabbits and concluded, when the animals died (probably from heat exhaustion after being unable to sweat), that they had suffocated and that mammals breathed partially through our skin.
Some beauty manuals of the era may have created accidental sunscreen. Occasionally you see advice to wear cold cream on your face when going out, to prevent sunburn. This probably mostly didn't work- but some cold cream recipes contained zinc oxide for a "white foundation" effect, due to beauty standards favoring very light skin, which may have created a low-level SPF. Other manuals also advocate sealing the cold cream in with powder...which even more frequently involved zinc oxide.
A dentist may have gotten away with a malpractice death by blaming tightlacing. A 23-year-old maid named Annie Budden, of Preston, England, went to have a tooth pulled in January of 1895 and suffocated after the procedure, during which she had been dosed with nitrous oxide. The dentist said she was tightlaced and therefore the coroner ruled that he was not at fault- however said dentist claimed that her natural waist was 23" and her corset measured 18". Presumably that's the closed measurement, and corsets were commonly worn with at least a 2" lacing gap at the time (one corset ad I've seen mentions that women liked to give the theoretical closed measurement of their corset as their waist measurement, to make it sound smaller, while actually wearing it with the customary gap). Ergo, she was only laced down about 2-3 inches, a difference unlikely to cause asphyxiation. The fact that she worked as a maid similarly calls the assessment into question- how could she have successfully done physical labor while laced down in a way that diminished her lung capacity so much? Her employer vouched for her good character and excessive tightlacing was seen as vanity- and would have been noticed by making Miss Budden look out-of-proportion physically. That doesn't add up either, to me. The dentist went on to become mayor of the town where this all happened.
That thing above started as a fun fact about the only credible death due to tightlacing and then I looked into it more and now I'm just mad.
Justice For Annie Budden
Sorry this has gotten off-track but I'm still mad about the whole Annie Budden thing

kitty's bimbo bucket list
Use these to break me
soooooo i'm a tgirly who's been on hrt a long time now, i have great tits and great ass and my brain is Way fuzzier but like. i want more. i wanna be like the cool girls i see on who are just completley ultrafeminine. i wanna be the perfect boys girl. im like. might to be a bimbo tradwife. i wanna be that so bad. ive also like. been doing the bambi 20 day challenge and its like. making me realise i neeed to make these changes lol
so i thought id like. make a list of things i need to do to be the girl of my dreams i see girls with lots of fun lists where they like say "at 10 reblogs i'll do this and i kinda like. wanna arrange this like one of those eventually (if you see a bimbofication step-by-step around PLease send it to me!! i love doing what rules say). reeeeeeeally reeally reeally open to feedback and other things to include on this list.
Bimbofying my looks
so this bits like. ways i want to look prettier :)
Nails always varnished: i think this might be the most easy for me to do as i spend a lot of time painting my nails anyway, but i wanna make like a pledge to make sure my nails are Never left unpainted. i think this would be a good place to start on this
Makeup every day - i used to wear makeup every day before covid and i reeeeeeeeeally wanna get back into the swing of it. i only do it like, maybe like once every few months which just Sucks. especially when i look so pretty doing it. so i wanna like get back into a position where i do my go to routine (foundation+eye shadow+eye liner+lipstick+lip liner) at least once a month, then at least once a week, then at least every day i'm not working, then at least every day i dont have like, a work video call, then every day.
Dyeing my hair: i reeeeeeeeally wanna dye my hair but im so scared of losing my natural colour. so im thinking of like, starting Blonde frosted tips as a start, before working up to being a totally bleach blonde
Get rid of trousers and only wear skirts: girls literally shouldnt wear trousers. it literally should be illegal. i wanna like. slowly get to a point where i only wear skirts. skirts make it easy for boys to access my holes :) but actually having said that. boys really like tight clothes. so i should keep wearing ultra tight. i also need to really increase my lingerie and sexy clothes collecshon :)
Lip fillers!! I reeeeeeeeeally wanna get lip fillers but i know its gonna be a big step to get there. i wanna do everythign i can to make my lips bigger naturally in the meantime. i think i wanna get lip fillers first before i think about. bigger tits. i reeeeeeeally want srs so bad but like., thats the goverments problem
getting bgiger: im like sooooo thin at the moment, and i neeeeeeed to get bigger tits and a bigger belly to make me more grabbable and wobbly. its a little diffcult because ive got like. lots of tummy issues. but i wanna slowly scale up my food intake. ive been eating lots of ice cream but i wanna like. follow a proper plan for biggerising myself feedee style
brain feminisation and IQ reduction
sooooo this sections like. ways to girlify my brain and make sure i just think girl thoughts
im alreayd doing good on hypnos with the bambi challenge (which is going soooooo well!! im learning sosososooso much :) ). but like. i wanna keep listening to hypnos moer
staying in my place; i'm already Really good at this. doing the cooking, cleaning, housekeeping, serving men in every way i can i am already 100% that. i stepped back from a job recently so ill have even more time to do that and i can't Wait.
knowing my place: despite this i clearly like, have a tonne of feminist baggage from my old self i really need to get rid of. i need to like. have my opinions broken and like, have like the gender politics of a conservative American housewife drilled into me. i wanna genuinely believe that women should stay in the kitchen and women shouldnt work and shoudl just serve men (smart boys please please please fix me!!!). i want pro-patriarhcy to be like. my mission in life. im thinking of like. writing lots of good girl essays on tumblr to try and fix my brain lol
dumming down my writing and speaking: likeee i think im already making good practice on this, ive been workiing on a lot lately. im trying to like. not use words longer than two soundy things, like short words, with the only ones allowed being like. sexy words. and mispeling them when i cant use any other words that are small. and using the wrong words and to like get rid of capital letters apostroches. i think im getting there on this. i also need to dumb down my speaking but honestly like im already there with that, i always say words wrong and everyone makes so much fun of me for it, it turns me a lot when people make fun of me for saying words wrong lol :)
girlify my music tastes: i reeeeeeally need to get into some girlier music. i really want to. currently i dont really have much of a music taste, i mostly just listen to synthy tunes and stuff which are easy to listen to while doing worky things. however, like ive tried listening to more popular stuff like taylor swift and the brat album and its like, okay, but its like not my thing lol. I used to be suuuuuuper into paramore but im like, aware thats a more like punchy girl band and im like not that lol. update im gonna work these into my daily music playlists!!
girlify my media intake and hobbies: currently i listen to a lot of boy stuff inherited from my old self, like ww2 books and podcasts which are...boring lol. i dont want learn things like that anymore. i wannna watch more stuff thats for girls, but im not really too sure where to begin? ive tried like, reading girleir magazines like Good Housekeeping and the like but it doesnt like. completely engage me lol
taking cock and being a good sexdoll
this section is like. ways i wanna be a better fuckdoll :)
m already like. so good at blowjobs. i absoltuely adore blowjobs. i dont think theres anything i need to improve here. i already deep throat, swallow every time. id like to take more facials though :)
but i neeeeeed to get better with my other hole. again i used to ride my dildo all the time prepandemic but ive fallen out the habit, its like my makeup i only really play on veyr special ocassions
increase my toy collecshun: my toys are not in as good condition as they used to be and i want like. good ones. i need to like. make a good purchase of some good quality toys for assfucking. i already have some good buttplugs :)
get good at getting my ass fucked: im thinking of like. mirroring what i did with my makeup here. like go from wearing my buttplug for a long period at least once a month, once a week, when im not working...etc. and likewise wiht my dildo. aggain its hard because i have a lot of tummy and bottom issues.
Only cum with permisson: this is so important. girls literally should not control their cumming. it should literally be against the law. im thinking of listening to cals curse some more to like. make that a hard and fast rule lol
so like!! this is what i kind think of right now. but i really wanna like. learn more from others and think. thank you!!!!!!!!

So I've been kind of slowly going down a skincare and make-up rabbit hole? not in an unhinged way because I don't have the money for it nor do I care about spending hours watching videos and wishing for things I can't have, but I have been following this one skincare and make-up influencer that I think is "ethical"/mindful and buying some stuff from the brands she recommends.
Even with my limitations and the awareness that this is a highly exploitative of cis women market, I'm still tempted sometimes to get more stuff. So yesterday I found out about make-up primers, and part of me is like "I have serum, I have eye cream, I have moisturizer, I have foundation, and you're telling me I need ANOTHER fucking cream to put on my face? nah." And another part of me is looking up how much a primer costs lol
Anyway, I'm not big on make-up mostly because I don't go out a lot, but since I have a party this weekend I just spent an hour straightening my hair and trying out a make-up look to see if I can pull it off... results under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the straightest I can make my hair without assistance. The gold is bc I'm wearing a mustard skirt, but I might try something different with the black tomorrow. I spent another hour trying to take good pictures of it.

Tumblr media
You had been interested in makeup since you were little. Your mother, who was one of the scientists left on Pandora, she still did her makeup. Some women stopped doing it, but your mom didn't stop, she continued to do her makeup, thanks to her, you had been wanting to do makeup for ages. But due to your age, you weren't allowed to. One day that she had been out collecting samples in her avatar, you decided to use some of her make up.
You got into her foundation, eyeshadow, highlighter, lipstick, etc. When she got back and found you covered in her makeup, she nearly fainted, you got scolded and she gave you an ass whoopen. Since then you didn't dare to use her makeup again. She didn't do it to be mean, she just wanted you to learn that taking other people's things isn't good, specially when told not to touch them.
Years went on, and finally your mom allowed you to use make up. You had no idea on what to do but your mother taught you a few steps on how to apply on makeup. When you got the hang of it, you took over since then. You had began to master your makeup skills, you loved learning new skills along with new ways to do your make up.
Then that was when you began to get pimples, you thought you had got sick, but your mother told you that it was part of puberty. She then introduced you to skin care, from creams to cleansers and so on. You had grown a love for skincare just like you did makeup.
Since the stuff left behind were only enough for some, good thing with your mother's knowledge in plants of Pandora, she began to teach you how to make your own makeup and skincare with natural ingredients. Not only that but Spider began to bring you paint made from the Omaticaya for you, he thought that you might have an interest on these since it was technically makeup to the Na'vi.
As the time passed, you still did your makeup and skincare, you never missed a day in washing and cleaning your face. Even if you did a simple cat eye or just added some highlighter on your face and body, you've never miss out.
Tumblr media
That morning you were in the Marui, in your little corner doing your thing. After you washed your face, you began to do your makeup. You were doing something simple since you didn't feel like adding some foundation or anything heavy, that day was hot and sunny, sure you can put sunscreen, you just didn't feel like doing all that.
You were busy filling in your eyebrows, that you didn't notice your friends peaking outside the marui. Once you placed the pencil down in your cosmetic bag, that was when you saw them which startled you a bit. "Ay! What the hell are you guys doing?!" you asked. Seen that both the forest and reef kids were now stepping in the marui. "Nothing, we were just watching you" Lo'ak said with out thinking, earning a light smack from Kiri.
"Sorry to bother you, but what are you doing?" Tsireya asked, sitting down next to while, followed by the rest of the kids. "My make up" you told her, earning a confused look from her. "Makeup?" she asked again, now Lo'ak had got a hold of your makeup pouch and looked through it, along with Ao'nung and Roxto.
"Well, humans use makeup to make themselves look prettier then they already are." You explained, Ao'nung had got a hold of a little tub with green substances inside of it. "What does this do?" he asked. "That's corrector primer, it helps hide the redness on the skin caused by acne." You explained. Roxto had been sniffing your glittered lip gloss that he had opened and examined the little wand. "This smells sweet, what is it?" he asked this time. "That's lip gloss, it makes your lips shine, it also help if you have chapped lips in the winter" you explain.
Tuk was busy examining your lose highlighter, she really liked how shiny it was. "What about this?" she asked, slowly opening the container. "That's highlighter, it makes your skin shine, and make your makeup look better." You explained, seen her now running her fingers on the shiny powder and placed them on the blue skin of her arm.
"How about this?" Lo'ak asked, holding up the container with lose setting powder. "That's setting powder, it helps my foundation not melting to much." You said, next thing you know Lo'ak had sneezed into the powder, causing it to go everywhere. Him, Neteyam, Ao'nung and Roxto were now covered in white powder.
You along with Tsireya, Kiri and Tuk giggled at their surprised expressions. Neteyam then took the makeup from Lo'ak hand, safely closing the lid and placing it back on your pouch, followed by Ao'nung and Roxto who also decided to put your things back.
"Here" you got your small pack of wipes and handed it to them so they could get the powder off. Kiri had come across another one of your pouches. "What does this one have?" she asked, you looked over seen what she was talking about. She was referring to the one that had your skin care. "That's where I keep my skincare" you said, taking the pouch onto your lap. "What's that?" Tsireya asked again, she was paying very close attention on the information that you were giving them.
"Skincare is basically taking care of your skin, it also prevents acne from getting worse and stuff. Lucky for you guys, you don't get acne like us humans." You said, letting her take your pouch and dig inside to look in your products. She was looking at your stuff, reading the labels and smelling them for some reason, but you didn't question her on why she was smelling them. She looked cute.
Out of the corner of your eyes, you saw how Lo'ak was now looking at your mascara, he had it out of the container, holding the little brush out. "What does this do?" he asked while continuing to look at it. "That's mascara, it helps make your lashes bigger" you said, then he had the bright idea to bring the little brush to his eye, but he poked himself in the eye causing him to drop the brush and close his eye in pain. "Shit!" he wined, this made Ao'nung and Neteyam laugh at him.
"Bro! It's not funny!" he screamed in pain while holding his eye. Kiri looked disappointed and shook her head by her brother's foolishness. Tuk tried to have a look at his eyes to see the damage. Meanwhile both Roxto and Tsireya tried not to laugh, but they ended up giggling. "You'll be fine" you said, now giggling.
"En verdad que estas menso" You really are stupid you said. Lo'ak then looked at you with a makeshift glare, while having his injured eye closed. "What did you say?" he demanded, but you didn't respond. "Tell me what you said, not everyone can speak Spanish." he whined, then Tsireya chimed in "what's Spanish?"

Corporate Fashion with 𝒩adine.
As of the beginning of 2023, I got promoted to coordinator at my job, making me a full-time corporate girlie. I wanted to share some fashion tips and advice for my other entry-level girls who are new to the corporate workplace. To begin, Looking at your workplace guidelines on work attire is important. My agency is lenient, not having restrictions on footwear or colours, so keep that in mind throughout the post. I’ll provide reference photos (the images aren’t mine).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beauty
Most corporate occupations have this silent rule that women have to wear makeup. Fortunately, that isn't the case at my place of work. I wear makeup to work because I want to. I like to keep my makeup simple and light.
I don't wear foundation, but I do use concealer for my hyperpigmentation. I apply it under my eyes, on the corners of my mouth and any acne scars. For my brows, I like to keep my natural brow shape, just lightly filling in and brushing them. For blush, I use cream on my cheeks and nose bridge.
I have dark skin, so most brown lip liners aren’t dark enough for me, so I use a combination of black and brown liners paired with a sheer pink gloss. I finish off my makeup, highlighting my nose and cheekbones. I've made it a part of my beauty routine to get my lashes done, and I usually go with a cat hybrid set.
Tumblr media
I used to have long, stiletto French nails, but lately, I've been learning the guitar, so I've kept my nails short with red gel polish.
As for hair I almost always have my hair in protective styles most notably cornrows, but when my hair is out of braids I have it in a low bun. I’ve recently bought a kinky straight wig that I’ve cut and customised similarly to the reference photo, and I’m so in love with it.
Tumblr media
Basics
From satin blouses to pencil skirts, the basics include all the trusty fashion essentials for the office. Sticking to neutral when working in a corporate workspace is always safe. If you love colours like me, I’d advise you to include coloured pieces such as turtlenecks, blouses or scarves to brighten your outfit.
As for inspiration, I think you can’t go wrong with a matching set. My favourite set is a white waistcoat paired with a long pencil skirt; I also have a similar waistcoat and pants set in grey. I wear slip-on loafers during warmer weather, and during cooler temperatures, I will wear boots and a turtleneck underneath the waistcoat or a trench coat.
Tumblr media
Dressing for the Weather
Regarding weather, for winter, you can switch out your summer blouses and linen shirts for high-neck tops, turtlenecks and knit sweater vests to layer. I'm Australian, so our winters can feel much colder. Therefore I usually wear tweed blazers and coats. I own three trench coats for work; one in black, one in beige and the other in white; I rotate between the three.
I suggest having neutral-coloured outerwear so you can reuse and style them with more pieces. I have a stereotypical girly style so I love tweed sets paired with stockings and a nice pair of boots or heels when the weather gets cold.
Tumblr media
As for Summer, I like to focus on the fabric of the pieces I own, prioritising breathable and lightweight textures such as; cotton, linen, silk or satin. Pairing my tops with loose-fitted, lightweight pants and silk skirts. You can throw on a blazer when it's feeling a bit cooler. It’s important to learn how to style your body type, I'm a pear shape, so I have wider hips with a smaller upper body and waist. I like showing my figure, so I usually wear fitted high-waisted trousers, shorts and skirts.
Tumblr media
Accessories & Essentials
I love my loafers; as previously mentioned, I wear slip-on loafers during warmer weather, but for those who have to wear heels for work, you can never go wrong with a sturdy pair of sling-back heels. I like shopping for my work shoes at Charles and Keith; they are affordable and good quality.
I've recently switched from a shoulder bag to a backpack for my back health; I previously used a Burberry shoulder bag, but I've since switched to an Ecosusi women's vintage backpack in black.
I’m a maximalist to the core although I like to keep my jewellery minimal for work, My staples are some thick gold hoops, my Casio gold watch and my gold cross necklace, which I pair with a few rings and bracelets, that’s all.
Tumblr media
Good luck to all my corporate baddies and nine-to-five girlies.
Sincerely,
𝒩adine.

Anime Spotlight #3: Project A-ko (1986)
Tumblr media
Join Ash as she takes a look at an underrated pride month anime classic and formative movie in her journey navigating queerness - it punches way above its weight and is well worth your time. Perhaps the greatest queer anime popcorn flick of all time, Acquired Stardust's spotlight on 1986's Project A-ko is here!
As previously discussed, time and tide can play funny tricks with our memory and perception. To that point, there's a special sort of magic that old media facilitates. Separation from the people and circumstances that produced it goes a long way towards helping us disconnect from preconceived notions and expectations to experience works more at face value. For a brief amount of time the brain is tricked into allowing itself to believe that this ancient work of art exists somehow outside of time and place - apart from not only the underlying political and cultural factors but also the individuals that birthed it.
Project A-ko is a work that synergizes incredibly well with this psychological trick but is perhaps doubly impressive when looked at in its proper context.
Tumblr media
Released theatrically in June of 1986 (only a little over a month before Studio Ghibli's first official project Castle in the Sky) and named after Jackie Chan's 1983 Project A, Project A-ko was born out of the staff behind foundational hentai OVA series Cream Lemon deciding to pivot and make a mainstream movie for theaters. Carrying a similar spirit to Project A, Project A-ko is a sci-fi action-comedy that smashes together the absurd and the mundane brilliantly.
Opening with a scene entirely in English (even in the Japanese language version) that sees a spaceship fall to earth and destroy the coastal southern Japanese city of Graviton, we flash forward 16 years to our protagonist (the eponymous A-ko) waking up to walk her friend C-ko to school for their first day. Deeply steeped in Class S tropes that had been popular in anime since the 70s that saw homoromantic relationships between women become somewhat normalized, C-ko catches the eye of rich and elegant classmate B-ko who immediately becomes overwhelmingly (and inexplicably) infatuated by her and deeply jealous of the relationship C-ko shares with A-ko, which stokes a rivalry for the affections of C-ko that gradually becomes more unhinged as the movie rolls on, even managing to slip in an unexpected cameo from an American fast food icon.
Tumblr media
It is here, beyond the basic setup, that Project A-ko begins to coalesce into something far better and much more clever than it has any real right to be. The lead characters, at first basic archetypes generically named but actually containing multi-layer puns, are wonderfully self-indulgent, given tons of room to come into their own and become a surprisingly strong ensemble. Gender, gender roles and sexuality are portrayed with a fascinating nonchalance (the likes of which is also featured in anime of the time such as Dirty Pair, as made clear with a very popular post on this very site). Fight choreography is shockingly good for the experience level of all involved (who by this time had mostly been known for their involvement in adapting Rumiko Takahashi's manga Urusei Yatsura).
The soundtrack (also in English and very of its time) matches the tone of the film in the best ways possible and helps to shape the film into something that is all too rare in the world of queer media: positive, happy stories celebrating the love people have for each other without getting too far into the weeds of angst and tragedy that is unfortunately often part and parcel with the real life queer experience. The Japanese voiceover cast features a stellar lineup of actors including Miki Ito, Emi Shinohara, Michie Tomizawa and Shuichi Ikeda (as well as a very early appearance by Megumi Hayashibara), and needless to say they knock it out of the park. One potential pain point is C-ko's loud and obnoxious nature, which despite being a central part of her character is toned down in the English dub. If one finds her to be especially grating, which is one of anime's hallmarks in this era, the English dub is serviceable enough.
Tumblr media
Watching Project A-ko was a formative experience for me, with its Goku-esque lead becoming a hero of mine. The final shot of the movie still manages to make me emotional every time I see it. Its simple concept of 'the superheroes and supervillains in your everyday life' is executed wonderfully and the bright-eyed, saccharine tone is an incredible breath of fresh air in contrast to the misery that queerness (and, more often, external reactions to said queerness) often brings about in our lives. There is so much to be said about this movie but as is so often the case with anime spotlights, it's hard to get granular without spoiling the experience and I'd much rather you see it for yourself than have it spoiled for you in what is in all likelihood the first time you're hearing of it.
They say that the best queer media is often accidentally made by straight men who have no idea that they're making queer media and that holds true for Project A-ko, who's character designer/animation director Yuji Moriyama says they simply hadn't put much thought into in that context which is unfortunately believable - although Project A-ko receives several sequels, they get progressively further away from the shockingly refreshing queer love story that is the relatable heart of the movie, contrasting its rising stakes and insanity that culminates with a three-sided battle that once again causes widespread damage to Graviton City.
Tumblr media
But such is the beauty of old media - for a brief hour and a half we are able to allow everything but the thing we're watching to fade away. To take it at face value. To see ourselves in these archetypal characters, and to brim with pride as they become engaging characters all their own. To hope that perhaps one day the world will treat queer people with the same sort of complete nonchalance featured in this movie, and to hope that we too may one day be able to have the sort of relationship between A-ko and C-ko in our own lives.
A gem hidden among the stones, Project A-ko is undoubtedly stardust.
-- Ash

I don’t wear makeup because I just never grew up doing it, but I do put like Vaseline on my face and lips and I use castor oil on my eyelashes when I remember. I sometimes feel guilty doing these things bc it feels like mock makeup. And I know makeup is harmful for women. But is it a big deal? Is it better that I use jojoba oil and frankincense oil on instead of foundation? I feel bad sometimes like I’m still subconsciously subscribing to the patriarchy’s feminine beauty standards. But I do really want to look good, and I feel guilty about it. Sorry if it’s a stupid question.
Amazing news! Radical feminism is a philosophical framework with which to analyze the world around you and your own experiences within it. Radical feminism is not a list of rules to follow.
You are doing more to battle patriarchy by not micro analyzing your every move for moral purity than you ever would by just stopping wearing makeup alone.
Which isn’t to say that minimizing makeup use isn’t good praxis- just that political purity is impossible. And I think that message is especially important in this era where the appearance of virtue matters more than anything.
As for the more practical side of things- toiletries like moisturizer, Vaseline, anti itch cream, foot powder, deodorant, etc I believe are all medicinal rather than cosmetic. Like tooth paste isn’t cosmetic. You have to brush your teeth!
I don’t really know what purpose things like frankincense oil or jojoba oil serve. So I’m at a loss as to advise on them.
In the end, it’s okay and even important to acknowledge that no one philosophy is perfect or without gaps or grey areas. People are drawn to philosophies and religions that promise them all the answers but there is no such thing. And that’s scary. It means we have to think. And think hard and think everyday.
The philosophies worth listening to admit their limits. And radical feminism can’t tell you if people would still care about their appearance in a perfect world. Nothing can. Because we don’t live in a perfect world. All we can do is analyze the imperfect one we have.
The good news is this means you get to define your own boundaries and ideas in those gaps. The bad news is you have to define your own boundaries and ideas and be ready to defend them. To others and to yourself. It’s work but it’s worth it.
Relax, go for a walk, and forgive yourself for not being perfect. It’s an ugly manipulation women are told that we have to be perfect in the first place. You are allowed to be human. You are allowed room to breathe and grow and explore.

I figure you might know this: is there any connection between historic poisonous makeup / skin cream, and the tendency of modern skin whitening creams to have high heavy metal levels? Like, one paper suggested that the high mercury levels of black US women are explicable by (illegally imported) creams and not e.g. pollution. Does mercury/ lead / arsenic actually improve skin somehow, or is it a contaminant, or what?!
Yikes! I always feel awful for people who are subject to those pressures- for light-skinned women, we're told to set ourselves up for cancer by tanning, and dark-skinned women are pressed to use poisonous bleaching creams. It's not the SAME pressure, since one has the weight of systemic racism behind it, of course. I just find it interesting (in a sad way) that no matter what skin tone you have, someone wants you to harm yourself to change it.
That said, I don't know much about skin-bleaching agents in the past (besides lemon juice for getting rid of freckles, which is a great way to badly sunburn yourself). Venetian ceruse and other white lead "foundations" were basically just a translucent white paint, not a skin product. The lead was only to get the white color. They were also not as commonly used- at least in the 16th century and later -as people often think today. The dangers were pretty well-known, if not fully understood, to the point where the 1760 death of unpopular socialite Maria Gunning was blamed on white lead makeup. A story which is still widely believed, even though I found no solid evidence for it being anything but slander.
The arsenic thing came from an 1851 scientific paper by Johann Jakob von Tschudi, in which he described Alpine peasants slowly acclimating themselves to larger and larger doses of arsenic over years. He speculated that the lovely complexions of women and girls in these villages might be due to arsenic-eating, though by what mechanism is unclear- long-term arsenic exposure actually darkens the skin, something Europeans at the time would not have held in high regard. Still, the beauty industry picked this up and unscrupulous companies began selling arsenic "complexion wafers," which made pretty much every skincare claim under the sun: they were good for acne, freckles, redness, roughness, oily skin, wrinkles...you name it. Of course, the fact that these companies were so unscrupulous probably saved women who believed the claims of "safe dosage" on the packaging- an 1893 study of one popular brand, in the Boston Journal of Health, found that the wafers contained nearly undetectable amounts of arsenic or none at all. That's just one brand, but it's not hard to imagine others doing likewise.
I know less about mercury in skincare/beauty products because you don't hear about it as much, but I did find evidence that it's been used in bleaching creams as far back as the early 20th century (again, targeting mostly women of color). Also that the use of cinnabar in some rouge preparations, in ancient Rome and Iberia, may have caused some mercury poisoning.
So yeah. Less related to the lead and arsenic history, but it seems mercury bleaching creams have at least a 100-year legacy. Horrifying.

2023 intentional feminism [SUCCESS]
hey ladies! about a year and a half ago i finally wrote a list of feminist goals for myself, and as of this month, i've completed them all. intentional feminist action is something that has become very important to me and has effectively improved my confidence, body neutrality, social awareness, and overall wellbeing. i'm really proud of myself so i thought i'd share my success with y'all and talk a little bit about the journey.
GOAL #1: STOP WEARING SKIN MAKEUP
this was one of the first ones i completed, although getting comfortable with the change took a bit longer. i threw out all concealers, foundations, etc. shortly after writing my list of goals, and luckily my frugality saved me from going out and buying more in moments of low self-esteem. the hardest part of this goal was when, about 9 months after i had stopped wearing skin makeup, i developed a chronic illness that frequently flares up and is very visible. since then, i have had many days where i have to force myself to go out with blotchy, red, even bruised skin covering my face, and limbs. it's been difficult to adjust to strangers staring at me, but i'm really proud to say i've grown more comfortable in my skin as a result and have not given in to the urge to cover my symptoms with makeup.
GOAL #2: STOP WEARING EYE MAKEUP
eyeliner was a lot harder to surrender. in my teenage years, i wore a lot of eyeliner, often sharp and dramatic wings. i leaned heavily into the alternative style because i felt i wasn't attractive enough to perform femininity in the more traditional or conventional way. so for many months after giving up my concealer, i still wore eyeliner frequently. but in the year 2023, i've worn eye makeup a total of 1 time (with the exception of costume/cosplay makeup). it's a difficult thing to let go of, because almost all the pictures i have of myself as a teenager depict me with my eyes neatly framed with dark wings. and i'll admit it: it looks fantastic on me. but i've found ways to keep myself from falling back into that addiction, like not taking selfies of myself as frequently as i used to, not using social media, practicing body neutrality, and remembering the ultimate reason i'm doing this: to help other women feel comfortable in their natural state.
GOAL #3: STOP BUYING UNCOMFORTABLE CLOTHES
right now my wardrobe contains quite a few tiny skirts, crop tops, and other mobility-restricting, revealing articles of clothing. i'm slowly phasing them out as i shift my apparel to more oversized clothes, sweaters, men's jeans, professional suits for my career, and long skirts in which i can easily move. what has helped is a new job at a company that sells bras, panties, pajamas, and loungewear to women who want to be comfortable. we provide a less objectifying alternative to stores like victoria's secret, and so my employee discount has made it easy to stock up on unbelievably soft cardigans, pajamas, and wireless bras.
GOAL #4: STOP SHAVING
two things i learned after i stopped shaving: 1. there's a significant number of women who don't shave but have such fine/light body hair that it appears as though they shave regularly. 2. i am not one of those women. shaving had been a sisyphean struggle for me since the age of 12. my body hair is dark, grows quickly, and will do everything in its power to make "smooth legs" impossible. i remember years of researching different methods of shaving and hair removal, googling how to prevent "strawberry legs", buying various creams and lotions and exfoliants just so i could obtain that air-brushed look that seemed to come naturally to all the girls around me. giving up on shaving forced me to confront the truth: i am a hairy woman. i have hairy arms, hairy legs, hairy toes, i even have some visible mustache hair. while i will sometimes meet women at university who don't use makeup for any number of reasons (yay!), it is very rare that i see other women with hairy legs. and god have i been searching. in fact, i can only think of one time in this year and a half i've seen another female who visibly doesn't shave, and then i found out they don't even identify as a woman. very disheartening. i'll keep wearing shorts and being hairy in hopes that my female peers and younger girls will have a change of heart, but for now it still feels a bit alienating.
GOAL #5: JOIN A FEMINIST ISSUES ORGANIZATION
!!!!!!! very proud to say i had the opportunity to work for the Feminist Majority Foundation during this past election season. my state had a very critical piece of pro-choice legislation on the ballot in november, so my job was to canvass students on and off my campus, and to provide reliable information about the issue. so happy to have played a role in securing abortion rights for women in my state. for any women wanting to get involved with feminist orgs and potentially make some money, the FMF has a great list of job listings!
GOAL #6: JOIN AN ALL-WOMEN CLUB
this is similar to goal #5, but i wanted to find a space where i could be away from men, but without the pressures of activism or employment. i just wanted a fun, preferably creative activity i could do with women! and this month, i was approved to join a feminist writing/art publication at my university! i'm on their design team, so i get to make cool t-shirt designs and will help with the aesthetics and layout of the publication once we have all of our submissions in. it's about 8 female students, all of which identify as women which is always a plus, and i'm having a blast so far. female separatism isn't something that's realistic for me at this point in my life, but having little groups like this away from males is really comforting.
GOAL #7: SOCIALLY SURROUND MYSELF WITH (MOSTLY) WOMEN
like i said above, i'm no hard separatist. it's a dream that maybe i'll be able to reach someday when i have more financial independence, but for now i do frequently interact with men. i have a couple male friends, i have a good relationship with my brother and my dad, and there's always going to be men in my classes. this goal was intended to remedy the issue i encountered during my teenage years: i'd spent so long removing myself from the idea of womanhood that i barely had any female friends. for the same reasons i didn't feel like a woman for a long time, i didn't interact with women on a personal level for years. there's a few ways i have worked to fix this in 2023. first, i have made substantial progress in mending my relationship with my mom. we hadn't been close since i was very young, and the fact that i related more to my dad only further pushed us apart. i always had seen her as a traditionalist, because she had some outdated beliefs and didn't affirm my gender identity when i was identifying as trans, but post-peak reflection made me realize she was incredibly progressive for her era. she had a college degree, she waited a long time to have children, she was independent and competitive. i took time to apologize to her for the things i said in past years, and acknowledged her positive impact on me as a woman. we spend more time together now and are planning a road trip together in january :) i also try to prioritize making plans with the female friends i have made at university. it's fun to find events to bring them to, or just to have dinner together. in addition, i had the opportunity to travel abroad with three women, and the (somewhat terrifying) experience provided some wonderful bonding. two of the three are now some of my closest friends. finally, i now have a part-time job at a women's intimates store, like i said above. every employee there is a woman, and i'm the youngest, so it's given me a chance to interact with a wide variety of ages. some of them are grandmothers, some of them have never had kids, some of them are married, some of them are divorced. it's the sweetest group of women and i especially love talking to my manager, a tall, loud, 50-year-old misandrist who lives alone with dogs she's rescued from abusive homes and spends her money on travel and her passion for football. i really value time and conversation with older women now.
2023 has been a year of purging. i've cleansed my life of beauty routines, body expectations, my ex-boyfriend (ew), and it's given me the strength to continue my self-improvement and feminist work. i started the year still struggling with eating disorder recovery, recently assaulted by my ex-boyfriend, and frequently having nightmares. now, my grades have improved, i often surprise myself with how little i care about my appearance, and i've stopped having sex with men.
for 2024, my goal is to continue my cleansing work and to make it a year of cultivation. i want to cultivate my education and to cultivate skills like sewing my own clothes, cooking, growing food, and writing fiction. in addition, i will cultivate the female relationships i've established. wish me luck, and happy new year! :)

Used to be a total sweetie
Still is a total sweetie deep down (Would either die of embarassment or kill you if you found out though)
Originally only became edgy to spite Lusamine, but eventually he started to actually like the aesthetic
Respects women (so long as they aren't named Lusamine)
Goes from 'sneering punk ruffian' to 'pathetic, soggy Litten' in a heartbeat when he's anywhere close to Wicke (Or 'Auntie Wicke' as he still calls her)
Still working through anger issues; Nearly broke a Team Skull grunt's nose after being called a 'mama's boy'
Was CEO of Aether Foundation for three days after Lusamine stepped down and hated each and every single one.
Still deeply regrets not taking Lillie with him when he ran away from home (Doesn't want to bring it up to her because he'd probably be a blubbering wreck by the end)
His entire 'tough guy' demeanour is 100% an act. Sure he may still spend most of his time brooding and giving people death glares, but behind closed doors he's a huge sucker for sappy dramas and Caramel Cluster ice cream.
Shows affection exclusively by hanging around in the same general area as someone, sort of like a cat
If you gave this dude a hug he'd probably turn into a sobbing mess
Slowly warmed up to having actual friends in Elio, Selene and Hau over the years; would absolutely snap someone in half with his bare hands if that person even thought about messing with any of them.

If we want to promote the boycott of is-not-reali products, we need to give substitutes and options for it.
Now, I also remember sisters asking me for my skincare/haircare routines, and I wanted to give a detailed article on that, but now it ain't about the time.
So, here, I'll try to compile these two topics.
Skincare that's effective without using any israeli/american product.
First of all, I don't have a skincare routine. I don't follow any step by step process. But, I do use products that help me keep my skin clean and hydrated.
And the most important advice I'll give to sisters is not to go for "skincare brands" that give pea sized products in bag size money. These industries are mostly scam. Always go for drugstore products. Those that are created for medicinal purposes oriented towards genuinely healing the skin problems. And if you don't have any active skin problems, don't expose your face to various products for achieving "perfect skin". There's nothing like that. Normal skins have occasional pimples, pigmentations, dark spots and uneven texture.
Anyway.
If you're going for drugstore products...
Go for phrama companies like Cipla and Reddy's Laboratories.
I personally use Reddy's Venusia Max moisturizer as my skin gets extremely dry often. If you have dry n normal (combination) skin you can use it. And if you have oily skin, go for squalane based moisturizers from Derma Co.
Next in line, if you want to use any serums, vit C is best for skins and there's a product by Cipla "Rivella Vit C and HA Serum" it's soothing, and effective. Alhamdulillah.
As a face cleanser or what you call as face wash, there are very brilliant new company products from DeConstruct that I love love love because they are so gentle on face and keep your pH balance and moisture intact (great substitute for Dove soap)
Then there's one more important aspect on skincare that's protection from UV...so you'll need a sunscreen. Go for Regaliz Truederma SPF 50. It's efficient. Alhamdulillah. Or Minimalist Suncreen spf 60 + Niacinamide incase you wanna go economically minimalistic. Derma Co Zinc Sunscreen is good too (one that comes in orange coloured pack)
Now, these four things are more than enough to keep your skin good.
Cleanser, Serum, Moisturizer, Sunblock.
Apart from that if you still wanna have some extra products...not from drugstore but excellent Indian brands...then Go for Pilgrim or Minimalist. They have best the ranges in every product.
And then comes Haircare...
Boycott Garnier. Boycott Loreal Paris. Boycott Head n Shoulders.
Go for St. Botanica. The Shampoos are sooooo great. Allahummaabaarik. SLS, Paraben Free, Actually formulated for cleaning dirt from hairs and reduce hair problems. Conditioners too are effective and they actually work as they advertise. If not St. Botanica, mamaearth would be good...but I didn't see it's results as best as St. Botanica.
For lipbalms though, you can go for Mamaearth. The shades are subtle and help keep your lips hydrated and avoid pigmentations. Stop using Ponds, Vaseline, Nivea. .PLEASE!!!! Their lipbalms do nothing but make your lips darker and greasy.
Makeup, I don't use tbh. But few years back, I had gotten a lipstick from MyGlamm and a Foundation of Biotique. They were good. You can go for it.
Bodywashes, Feet scrubs - Bodywise
Hair removal gels/creams - Sirona
Perfumes - Ajmal / Maison De Fouzdar are best. No doubt.
I'm sharing this post not to promote any sort of "self care" in this situation....but as an essential need of substitutes. Infact these substitutes are way better and effective than the Israeli American products we've been wasting our money on.
I have tried to mention most of the things used by women because that's the biggest market for Israeli products.
If you are an Indian, promote Indian brands 'cause we gotta "make in India" ;)
For that we need to use only that which is "made in India"
Go ahead...you can add anything else I might've missed. And yes...If any Mother's seeing this, let us know baby products that are made in India.

"what's wrong with taking care of yourself" taking care of yourself is washing your face with a gentle cleanser, putting soothing essence and cream and most important sunscreen ♡ makeup is for covering your natural beauty and like i said women agree that they wish to be ethereal beauty without concealer and foundation, if these women were beautiful they would just wake up, do skincare and go being pretty
Makeup just heightens your natural beauty and, in some cases, boosts your self-esteem. In the former case, Billie Joe Armstrong and Halle Berry are both hot (imo, at least), but they still wear makeup. In the latter, i’ve started using hair care products for the past seven months, and i’m not as camera-shy as i used to be.
