Does anyone on here have the 2022 Guilty Gear Strive calendar? If so, would you mind sending me pictures of the text on the bottom of each page, please? That's the map lore for Strive. They put it in a very rare calendar and none of us have been able to find one for sale for an entire year now lol
We've got the text for Lars Canyon and the New York map from promo images, but not for the other 10 pages
#guilty gear#textpost#Asked on Twitter and forgot to ask on here too#Though the GG fandom here is much smaller... I think more passionate fans are here though#Maybe someone will have bought that specific calendar anyway

Me when I release a Guilty Gear Prompt Month account:
Jack-O January
Potemkin Time
Millia March
Aprl Low
May 4 May
Anjune
Jul-Ky
Izunaugust is for a Order Sol and not Izuna
SeptemBed (Bed Siblings)
Soltober
Dizzember
De-Sin-ber
De-Sin-ber if anyone wants that for a Sin prompt month
It’s still not as good as May…
#guilty gear#in actuality I would probably just have multiple calendars per month#I think that would require more coordination and thought because like Elphelt can’t be during Potemkin Time#nobody would do Potemkin Time they would just draw Elphelt#robo-ky would also probably be July

Get to Know Me Tag :)
I was tagged by @telomeke and @hughungrybear. Thanks for tagging me!
do you make your bed?
It depends... I live in the part of the world where it's usual to have a duvet in a duvet cover and a sheet covering the mattress, and I have a duvet twice the width of my bed so it usually doesn't get rucked up during the night, so when I get up I fold over the top third of the duvet to air out the mattress/sheet. If it's a work day, it will stay like this until I get home, then I will usually pull the duvet back over the bed. If it's a weekend, I might make the bed again midday. I like it when my bed looks made.
what's your favourite number?
I'm not sure why but I like the number 7, and then also the numbers 4 and 3 because they make up 7. I've never really considered numbers beyond single digits to be 'favourites'. But if I did it would be my birthday day. Oh and I don't really use favourite numbers as important passwords or pins or the such...jsyk.
what is your job?
The work I do is quite niche, so I never really want to say too much because I'm pretty discoverable online with a few key words...but then sometimes I really want y'all to know what I do because it's unusual (and, I think, quite cool!)...but without revealing too much I work in the arts sector - specifically dance.
if you could go back to school, would you?
School, as in aged 11-16? Absolutely the hell no. But school as in higher education, degrees, masters, or smaller qualifications for my general interests? Well, I sort of did a few years ago (*she looks at the calendar and realises it's more than 'a few'*). I did a Creative Writing Masters over 2019-2020, which was GREAT to do but sort of killed my spirit and drive to be a writer...but whatever, I can always pick it back up again in the future if it returns. I also went to classes to learn Swedish when I lived in Sweden and I'm going to a different language class now one evening a week. I enjoy studying...but I get too focused on getting good grades.
can you parallel park?
Yes but I only do it when the space is big enough for me to confidently do it (especially with all these sensors beeping nowadays) and usually only on the side of the road opposite to the steering wheel (I can drive on both sides of the road).
a job you had that would surprise people?
I think my whole career is probably surprising to people but in the sense that I think people are mostly confused because they don't really understand what I really do on a day to day basis.
do you think aliens are real?
I think it would be incredible if in this whole universe we are the only planet who has developed 'life'. Aliens don't necessarily have to be intelligent life like us (and that's debatable sometimes!), so yes, I think somewhere in this universe there is another planet which has the conditions for some form of life, whether we could survive there or not.
can you drive a manual car?
Yes, I learnt on one and have managed to adapt to both right-hand and left-hand gear sticks, although I'm still a little 'fumbly' with the right-hand gear stick. I prefer automatics when in a traffic jam but otherwise I'm happy to drive whichever. Sometimes it's good to have something to focus on when driving, so a manual is good. The problem happens if I've used different hire cars in a short period of time (which I need to do sometimes with work) and when I forget I'm in a manual and brake coming up to to a junction and just...stall because I forget to change down gears 😂
what's your guilty pleasure?
If a guilty pleasure is something I'd feel shy or embarrassed admitting or talking to others about...then it would probably be watching ql or reading fanfic 😂 Other than that I'm not sure I have anything...I enjoy what I enjoy and don't feel guilt over it.
tattoos?
No but I've always thought about getting one but I think the thought of the work I'd have to do to find someone I would really trust to permanently mark my skin means I've just never done it. But I would like some kind of minimalist abstract colour art that starts on my shoulder and trails down my arm. Maybe. I've never been able to find exactly what I'm imagining, which is also why I've never pursued it.
favorite color?
I think I'm in my blue stage in my life, looking at the majority of colours surrounding me, but I also like pops of red.
favorite type of music?
The music playlists I listen to most are 1) OSTs and similar style songs from all the qls I've watched over the past 3 years 2) the instrumental background music from all the qls I've watched and 3) Swedish pop (to keep the language fresh in my brain). I do like all kinds of music - just NOT drum and bass - anything can work for me in the right mood.
do you like puzzles?
Yes, although I don't often do them. I enjoy the 'escape room' type Exit games as well as sudoku, and for a few months several years ago I really got into hanjie puzzles.
any phobias?
I'm not sure if this is a phobia or not but I absolutely CANNOT deal with cotton wool. Just thinking about pulling it apart makes me want to crawl out of my skin and lay down in a bath of acid just to get away from it let alone actually TOUCHING it and pulling it apart 🤢🤮 The cotton wool pads are ok because they have smooth sides and I don't...pull 🤮 them 🤮 apart 🤮. Ok, I gotta stop talking about this now, I'm squirming in my seat.
favorite childhood sport?
I did gymnastics as a child, from about aged 8 to 13, but I don't know if that counts as a 'sport', although I did compete. I didn't really enjoy most ball sports as a kid.
do you talk to yourself?
ALL. THE. DAMN. TIME. I talk to myself in my head. I talk to myself out loud. Sometimes, if I'm talking to myself aloud about something important and then do something that means I can't continue (cleaning my teeth, drinking/eating etc) then for some reason I can't continue in my head. I have to wait until I'm finished to then talk out loud again. But I also talk to myself aloud when I'm out 😬 but I do it quietly and without moving my mouth too much so people don't notice. I was in a shop recently and a gentleman was talking to himself out loud (commenting on the offering of tea towels ikea had and wondering whether to buy any) - loud enough that I thought that he was actually talking to someone else but he wasn't - and I felt like I had a glimpse of my future if I wasn't careful 😂
what movies do you adore?
I don't watch a lot of movies nowadays - the last I saw was Barbie. But the one that has stayed with me as a favourite since I first saw it is Some Kind of Wonderful. And I love The Holiday as a Christmas movie (although I haven't watched it for ages). Oh and it's not a movie, so maybe doesn't count, but the BBC's adaptation of Pride and Prejudice has my whole heart.
coffee or tea?
I'm definitely a tea drinker (approx 3 cups of black Earl Grey plus one or two herbal teas every day) but sometimes I'll crave a coffee...but then I'll have decaf. I'll crave it because I think the milkiness of it (oat milk though) makes it feel like a comfort drink, and I like a small shot of gingerbread syrup in it too.
first thing you wanted to be growing up?
I remember things like 'lawyer', 'journalist', and 'doctor' were common aspirations when I was a kid which I also contemplated but when I decided I wanted to be a dancer at aged 13 that was it for me. My 'back-up' career plan was some kind of palaeontology or archaeology ("you get an -ology you're a scientist!" 😂) but I never needed to pursue that.
Onward tagging: I'm not sure by now who has done this or not, so I'll tag some people and if you have done it then tag me in your post so I can read it! @grapejuicegay @dimplesandfierceeyes @casualavocados @ranchthoughts @jourquet @lollygirlpops @airenyah @incandescentflower and @linosaur
Like @telomeke, I also get tagged now and then by others in various tag games but then get too busy with work to be able to do them. So if you've tagged me and I've not responded, please know that I really wanted to but I just didn't have the time and then probably forgot.

Coming This August: Changes to Our Patreon Backer Levels
Y’all probably already know that the awesome Duck Prints Press Patreon offers backers behind-the-scenes access to our Discord, and awesome backer blog, short stories as rewards, exclusive merchandise, and more.
Now, based on feedback from our backers and from non-backers who completed the survey, this great Patreon is about to get even better! We’re adding new backer rewards!!
one art piece per month. Our blog will now feature one gorgeous, fully rendered art piece per month, created by an artist we’ve worked with on a previous project. Depending on backer level, Patrons will be able to view the finished piece, check out work-in-progress sketches and speed paints, download a high-resolution version of the art piece, and even get free merchandise featuring the art! Even non-backers will get a crack at this awesome art, as we’ll be using the pieces to produce an annual calendar starting in 2025 and potentially other merchandise such as art prints, zines, a portfolio as well!
one convention-style panel a month. Panels will be held on Saturdays and Sundays each month, at different times as fit the schedules of the panelists and with an effort made to vary up the time to accommodate backers on different schedules. We expect each panel to be run live, with about an hour to discuss the panel topic, and a minimum of 15 minutes for Q&A (longer depending on how many questions people have and panelist availability). Panel topics will range from discussions about writing (such as worldbuilding, editing, etc.), publishing, fandom, and queer media, but we’re open to any topic at all related to what the Press does that we can find people with the expertise to participate in. We’ll be recruiting panelists from among the Press contributors, though in specialized cases we may also solicit outsiders who have knowledge that’ll enhance our ability to give a high-quality panel.
These new rewards are unrolling in August, 2024, and we’re already gearing up to share the new awesome with our backers, current and new – and we’d love to have you on board in the “new” category. To find out about our backer levels, ranging from $3/month to $25/month, and find out what access each level gives you, make sure you check out our membership benefits.
Curious what we’ve got in the works, then read on!
Art
Our first art piece? A gorgeous, dark piece by artist Zel Howland, inspired by their story Chrysopoeia. This eerie story tells the tale of Faith, found guilty of witchcraft and imprisoned, alone, in a cave as punishment. Except the longer Faith is trapped the clearer it becomes that she’s note alone. Zel is a wonderful author and accomplished artist, and chose to do an art piece of a scene from their own work!
Our second art piece, coming in September, is by May Barros. Teasers on that are pending…
Panels
Our first panel will be a re-run of the panel we’re doing live and in person at Fandom Fest, a convention in Schenectady, New York running the 10th and 11th of August. For people able to attend that con, you can come see our panel on August 10th at 2 p.m. For everyone else, well, we’ll be running the panel again, online, on Sunday August 25th. What’s the panel about?
Queer Representation in Media: Then and Now In the past decade, there has been dramatic progress in the commonness and availability of media that includes LGBTQIA+ characters and themes. In this panel, we’ll posit a definition of “queer media” that establishes a baseline of what features we think separate queer media from other media (beyond the obvious “there are queer people in it,” of course) and why these distinctions matter. We’ll delve into the history of queer representation in media, chat about the changes we’ve observed over our lifetimes, and give our own views on the state of the diverse books, shows, movies, comics, and other media across many genres that now feature queer characters. As all of our panelists are queer and are writers, we’ll also touch on how the queer representation we’ve encountered has led us to tell our own stories in our own voices. We hope you’ll come and contribute your own views as well, we’d love to hear from you during the Q&A at the end of the session! Panelists: Claire Houck (Author, Editor, and Small Press Owner), Tris Lawrence (Author), Catherine E. Green (Author), and Shea Sullivan (Author)
We’ve also been planning the September panel, with more information pending – the topic will be Harassment and Bullying in Fandom, an issue that one of our backers requested we discuss!
Adding all this did require removing a little from our current offerings, of course – instead of six stories per month, we’ll now be publishing five, and we’ve removed the two freebie stickers and one freebie “other merch” options we’d previously been offering annually. But that’s all we removed – everything else is still on offering for our Patrons, AND they’ll be getting even more.
Not enough to tempt you yet? There’s more! Starting August 1st, we’ll be running a promotion with freebie merchandise for current and new backers – and a chance to win one of the handful of remaining copies of the original print run of our debut anthology Add Magic to Taste! So be on the look out – and don’t wait to become one of the core supporters that help keep the lights on at Duck Prints Press!

Lost in Space #58
Howdy, Isolans! We have conducted an activity check for the month of January!
If your character isn’t on this list, make sure to check this page to see how many stars that character has earned this month! Stars can be used for purchases at the marketplace.
The blogs that were removed from the Isola Radiale masterlist are under the cut. Note that both blogs with broken links and deactivated accounts will be included both at the top of this list and in their proper categories.
If you were removed in error, please simply send a re-application message. Several different people work on the activity checks, so it’s possible there are mistakes! If this happens to you, you will be able to keep everything you previously had, you just may be placed in a different residence.
Our general activity rules regarding checks are as follows:
Make at least two in-character posts during a calendar month (for instance, if the activity check is for May, have two in-character posts between the 1st and 31st of May).
Only one meme response of 300+ words counts as activity.
Only one drabble of 500+ words counts as activity.
One-liners or minis not tagged #isola mini also do not count.
Please Note: If you are removed during two consecutive activity checks, you will not be allowed to re-apply as that character for one calendar month.
Additionally, anyone removed during the activity check will have a 12-hour window from the time of posting to re-claim their character. Any character not reclaimed during that period will be open to the community at large.
Please send in your reapplications from the account of the character that was removed.

Somehow, against all odds, after 20 Gregorian calendar years of playing Guilty Gear XX off and on and Axl always feeling like shit to play, I picked him on a lark and found that suddenly my practice from Strive has apparently reached a level where it has transferred backwards to make him feel beautiful in XX too ' <'
#TWENTY YEARS#I was playing on call with a friend and was rendered completely speechless#Literally like#Last time I tried him in XX was at the beginning of the year and like every other time he felt sticky and sluggish#But this time it felt like being behind the wheel of a perfectly tuned Ferrari it was insane#The power of love is an incredible thing...

Affordable and Chic: Maternity Dresses Under $50
Pregnancy is a beautiful journey filled with excitement and anticipation, but it can also be overwhelming when it comes to building a maternity wardrobe. With your body changing rapidly, it’s important to find stylish options that fit well and don’t break the bank. Luckily, you don’t have to spend a fortune to look fabulous during your pregnancy. There are plenty of trendy maternity dresses available for under $50 that offer both comfort and style without sacrificing quality.
Let’s explore why investing in affordable maternity dresses is a smart choice and how you can find the perfect dress that fits your budget.
Why Choose Maternity Dresses Under $50?
Budget-Friendly Fashion Pregnancy often comes with added expenses, from baby gear to nursery preparation. Finding maternity clothes at affordable prices allows you to allocate your budget to other important needs while still looking stylish. With numerous options under $50, you can build a versatile wardrobe without feeling guilty about overspending.
Style Without Compromise Just because a dress is budget-friendly doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish. Many retailers now offer chic designs that cater to expectant mothers without the hefty price tag. From playful prints to classic silhouettes, you’ll find a variety of fashionable maternity dresses that flatter your growing bump while making you feel beautiful.
Variety of Styles Maternity dresses come in an array of styles, lengths, and fabrics, ensuring you’ll find something that suits your personal taste. Whether you prefer a casual maxi dress for everyday wear, a flirty sundress for summer outings, or a chic wrap dress for special occasions, there’s a budget-friendly option for every event on your calendar.
Versatility for All Occasions Maternity dresses under $50 can be versatile enough to wear for multiple occasions. You can easily dress them up with accessories for a baby shower or keep them casual for a day out with friends. The ability to mix and match with different shoes, bags, and layers means you can create multiple looks with just a few dresses.
Comfort is Key When searching for maternity dresses, comfort should be a priority. Many budget-friendly dresses are made from soft, stretchy fabrics like cotton, jersey, and rayon that offer plenty of room for your growing belly. The loose-fitting designs ensure you stay comfortable throughout your pregnancy, no matter the occasion.
Where to Find Affordable Maternity Dresses
Online Retailers: Websites like ASOS, Amazon, and Target have extensive collections of affordable maternity wear. They often have sales or discounts that can help you score great deals.
Fast Fashion Brands: Stores like H&M, Old Navy, and Zara frequently offer stylish and budget-friendly maternity dresses that are perfect for expectant mothers looking for trendy pieces.
Thrift Stores: Don’t overlook the potential of thrift stores or online second-hand platforms like Poshmark or Depop. You can often find gently used maternity dresses at a fraction of the original price.
Seasonal Sales: Keep an eye out for seasonal sales at your favorite stores. Many retailers offer significant discounts during holidays, making it the perfect time to shop for affordable maternity dresses.
Styling Tips for Maternity Dresses Under $50
Accessorize Wisely: Elevate your look by adding statement jewelry or a stylish belt to define your waist and enhance your silhouette.
Layer Up: For cooler days, throw on a denim jacket or a lightweight cardigan. This not only keeps you warm but also adds a stylish layer to your outfit.
Play with Footwear: Depending on the occasion, you can pair your maternity dress with comfortable sneakers for a casual outing or chic flats for a more polished look.
As you enjoy your beautiful budget-friendly maternity dresses, another important aspect of your pregnancy journey may be preparing for maternity leave. Writing a clear and professional maternity leave application is essential to ensure a smooth transition at work. If you’re unsure of how to get started, stay tuned for our next blog post, “How to Write a Maternity Leave Application: A Step-by-Step Guide,” where we’ll provide you with detailed instructions to help you craft the perfect leave request. Don’t miss it!

ooh, I know about that one! Last year, they revealed an arcsys-themed calendar, featuring artwork in that style for several of their properties, three of which featured Guilty Gear! There's that one with Anji, Baiken, and Delilah-- but there was also one with the Kiske family (Ky, Dizzy, Sin, Ram & El) and one with Sol, Jack-O' & Asuka!
Ah, thank you so much for the info, anon!!

I... You know, I always thought this thing was just a really fancy bridge. But it does kinda look like it could be a dam, doesn't it?
If anyone has the 2022 GGStrive calendar, the April page has some lore text for this stage that probably says what it is:

I’m also Cartoon Network/Adult Swim coded so I promise I’ll know some random cartoon from sometime at some point in history. I’ve seen most of everything if it had a cartoon or a cartoon channel, seriously. I’ll need a whole other post for my cartoon likes.
Comics
DC Comics
I’m trying to read more Western stuff again but remember the mountains of lore I’m returning to so I’m also into completely indie or non-superhero comics.
I got into Marvel movies which got me into Marvel comics but since I was more DC coded growing up (although I really loved 00s X-Men, I had no real grasp of it being a Marvel thing) I already shifted my taste towards a darker or grittier experience. Likewise, where Marvel does get into that…it’s nowhere in the movies so by Civil War I had the Marvel fatigue I see finally hitting the fanboys. This watered down whatever is certainly not solely phase four (and diversity)…but hmmm.
It became a Marvel exposition but that’s all to say I’ll have to learn alot more to really have a non-movie grasp of Marvel people—DC characters? I got you ! Including the obscure as I’m one of those Blerds that begged my dad to buy a $50 A-Z DC Comic Encyclopedia. One of my most prized possessions😭
Specifically though my favorite superhero is Batman. I know TOO MUCH Batman lore and actually had characters bdays in my calendar to celebrate at a point. (I was young, spare me) But yeah my favorite story arc is Batman RIP and my favorite villain is Scarecrow, Black Mask, and Solomon Grundy.
Video Games
Perfect Segway as one of my favorite games (and reason I begged my dad for an XBOX 360 was Batman Arkham City. I bought Arkham Aslyum and City pre-owned from GameStop 😭) It was the first time I felt like a real gamer (besides playing Smash on GameCube tbh) and the experience of a story and being old enough to really care and get into it made it feel exactly how those streamers playing felt).
Other video games I’m into even if not for gameplay are:
Final Fantasy
Mortal Kombat (played since 9 up until the most recent which is 2023’s Mortal Kombat 1. I have not played cause I need a PS5🫤)
Castlevania
Guilty Gear
Street Fighter (played a few besides the newest one this year)
Tekken (also played a few besides the new one)
Animal Crossing (played since GameCube…in that vein I play Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, etc.
FromSoft Games (played Bloodborne, Sekiro, and love the lore of all the games. Elden Ring of course is where I’m interested most and really want to play)
Resident Hill, Silent Hill, FNAF, Bioshock etc etc etc including beyond horror
Dinner Dash, Virtual Villagers, Sims 4 😂 anything really from the 00s I was an only child with internet access…

It's time for me to start finalizing my prompt list of Dizzember, the November (not December) prompt month of making Dizzy Guilty Gear content.
I'll schedule a list to come out around the 15th or the 20th, in case anyone wants to join in on the fun! I'm going to try and say something about it every few days on here and probably every week on twitter.
I was going to make a calendar page or something, but that felt a bit try-hard...Maybe sometime I'll just make a full Dizzy Calendar and use that!

Context and reasoning for the artifact
For the story and mechanic for my game I wanted something at the end that the player wants to obtain, I am planning to look into history and other media to find inspiration for this concept to help me further the idea.
Olmec colossal heads - Given that the extremely large slabs of stone used in their production were transported over large distances, requiring a great deal of human effort and resources, it is thought that the monuments represent portraits of powerful individual Olmec rulers, perhaps carved to commemorate their deaths.
It has been suggested that she is a fertility figure, a good-luck totem, a mother goddess symbol, or an aphrodisiac made by men for the appreciation of men.
The back of the mask is covered with Spell 151b from the Book of the Dead, which the Egyptians used as a road map for the afterlife. This particular spell protects the various limbs of Tutankhamun as he moves into the underworld.
When it was discovered, nobody knew how to read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Because the inscriptions say the same thing in three different scripts, and scholars could still read Ancient Greek, the Rosetta Stone became a valuable key to deciphering the hieroglyphs.
Constructed over 2,200 years ago, the Terracotta Army was built at the request of the Emperor himself, who believed he would continue to rule in the afterlife. The Emperor, who took the throne at age 13, wanted to be buried with his army who would guard his tomb and protect him for eternity.
Other media that also takes inspiration from a dead army being resurrected to defend their ruler are movies such as Ragnarök and The Mummy 3. From these two sources and how they diverge from the original source material I am planning on making an unique story while trying to stay faithful to the source material.
Among the texts are parts of every book of the Hebrew canon — what Christians call the Old Testament — except the book of Esther. The scrolls also contain a collection of previously unknown hymns, prayers, commentaries, mystical formulas and the earliest version of the Ten Commandments.
Modern archaeologists, such as those at the National Anthropology Museum in Mexico City, believe it is more likely to have been used primarily as a ceremonial basin or ritual altar for gladiatorial sacrifices, than as an astrological or astronomical reference.
The Aztecs sacrificed a prisoner on the calendar stone on the date 4 Olin, the day they believed the world would end. The day repeats every 260 days in their calendar cycle. With succession of the cycle, another prisoner was sacrificed and the sun rose again the following day.
The mechanism was operated by turning a small hand crank (now lost) which was linked via a crown gear to the largest gear, the four-spoked gear visible on the front of fragment A, gear b1. This moved the date pointer on the front dial, which would be set to the correct Egyptian calendar day.
In Greek mythology, the Labyrinth (Ancient Greek: Λαβύρινθος, romanized: Labúrinthos) was an elaborate, confusing structure designed and built by the legendary artificer Daedalus for King Minos of Crete at Knossos. Its function was to hold the Minotaur, the monster eventually killed by the hero Theseus.
Each of the 9 circles in hell represents a different sin, each with its own degree of wickedness. The punishment, which is relevant to each sin is inflicted in the corresponding circle. As Dante travels through each circle, he encounters notable figures from history who were guilty of sin.

"But that was my secret ssstash," Pentious insisted, another burst of tears escaping at the unfairness of Angel's accusations. How dare the Spider be so angry when he had the privilege of being high! "I hid my snuff ssspoon in there too, just look!" the serpent whined, rubbing his eyes and banging the wall panel with the end of his tail.
"Muh-Muh-Miss Bomb isss probably asleep or partying..." he sobbed as Angel's plastered arse switched gears. Pentious dug into his chest pocket so he could produce his hand-held calendar. He held it out to the other demon whilst his face was still pressed on the ground.
It still held proof of his many appointments before he had moved into the hotel. Weapon purchases, engineering gigs, fights...
"...She nuh-never agreed to battle on Thursday nights..." Pentious continued with a sniffle, suddenly terribly missing Miss Cherri Bomb. He wouldn't be a particularly attractive sight if she were to come by and offer him something to take the edge off, but he was craving the substance too hard to really care "...But I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try..."
But before he could properly dream of the Australian Sinner coming to his daring rescue, another wail escaped, this time more guilty than the ones before.
"...But wouldn't C-Charlie be so a disappointed if she found out? I canna bodge it now- I don't want to be kicked out, I really like it here, I was just feelin' myself brattle, barmy on the crumpet, you know? I dinna want to keep doin' coke, I jus' wanted one moh' hit-" the serpent rambled, his Staffordshire tint coming through strong and unfiltered.
He was now clutching Angel's leg. He wouldn't tell Charlie, right? They wouldn't be angry at him, right? He was really trying to redeem, he was! He didn't need the cocaine! Oh but he wanted it! But he couldn't have it. But could he? No! Yes!
Angel's expression turned from one of casual indifference to utter bewilderment as the snake fell to the floor with theatrical flamboyance. Sir Pentious could almost give Angel a run for his money with his flair for the dramatic - albeit with a far grander flavour than that of the porn star.
In his confusion (and inebriation), Angel had entirely abandoned his prior attempt at feigning innocence. The denial of the obvious was intended to fend off a scolding - his predicted reaction from the serpent. Instead, Pentious was wailing, scrabbling at the floor for the bank note and blubbering like a baby.
The behaviour of someone who hadn't got their fix
"Now, hold up a moment..." Angel started as he held two hands up in a motion of surrender, regarding Pentious with a look of scepticism. It was just as he opened his mouth to interrogate the kooky inventor about his dirty secret that something he said floated into the foreground of Angel's mind.
"Your cocaine?!"
The erratic and stimulant-fuelled spider underwent a dramatic change in tone once again - this time shifting to total indignance.
"I've been stashin' my shit here fa weeks!" he exclaimed, a little louder than was civil for the hotel corridors in the dead of night. "Don't tell me ya've been helpin' yaself ta my fuckin' drugs!"
Oh, Angel wanted to be angry. Fuck, the cocaine wanted him to be angry, the surging adrenaline that pulsed through him driving him to berate the wretched serpent at his feet. Not only had Angel taken the brunt of Charlie's "just-say-no" attitude to substance abuse while Pen's excessive sucking-up earned him a pat on the back, but, all the while, this slippery bastard had been stealing from Angel's stash?
He could yell and scream at the man curled up feebly at his feet, snivelling into the carpet, sure. But even at his worst, Angel took no pleasure in punching down. And, right now, Sir Pentious was... well, he was rather pathetic.
Crouching down to his level, Angel once again switched up his demeanour, suppressing the cocaine-induced euphoria as best as he could to match the snake's energy. "Hey... hey, it's okay!" he tried, still all too jubilant considering Pen's sorrowful state. "It ain't so bad!" Easy for him to say - he'd just snorted half a gram.
Gingerly, he reached out to give the poor serpent a half-hearted pat on the shoulder. "We'll getcha some coke! I'll, uh... I'll hit up Cherri! She can hook ya up! Yer gonna be just peachy, Pen! So, uh, stop cryin', 'kay?"
#ic#angie-long-legs#(Angel.)#the idea that Pen and Cherri scheduled their turf wars always cracks me up
