De Tomaso Mangusta, 1967. The Mangusta was developed out of a failed attempt by Alejandro de Tomaso to supply Carroll Shelby with a CanAm race car. De Tomaso was unable to deliver the cars in time for the 1965 season and Shelby pulled out of the deal. De Tomaso adapted the steel backbone chassis of the still-born P70 CanAm car for road use and engaged Giorgetto Giugiaro who was then working at Ghia to design his mid-engined supercar powered by a Ford V8.

This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II 2+2  is powered by a 302ci Ford V8 mated to a three-speed C4 automatic transmission and is finished in black over black leather upholstery. Equipment includes an Offenhauser intake manifold, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an HEI distributor, four-wheel disc brakes, and 18″ Strasse wheels as well as a louvered clamshell hood, wood-rimmed steering wheel, air conditioning and Smiths instrumentation. The body, exterior trim, bumpers, door handles, and badging have been refinished in black, and additional details include a louvered clamshell hood, bumper overriders, dual mirrors, tinted windows, and black dual exhaust finishers.
By the way, it was previously owned by actor and WWE professional wrestler John Cena.

Early Ford V8 Museum - Floyd Motors for 1936
This wonderful museum is located in Auburn, Indiana. It's much improved since my last visit 8 years ago, and much bigger. A huge and amazing addition to the museum is the presentation of the Floyd Motors Ford Dealership for 1936. The entire display is filled with different models of the '36 Ford as well as a bunch of memorabilia, sales tools and loads of informative information. I was very impressed with the complete setup and display. This set is the 4th group.

The notorious Ford V8 that belonged to infamous crime couple Bonnie and Clyde.
Tumblr media
The bullet holes are from 1934 when officers ambushed and shot the couple more than fifty times with automatic rifles and shotguns, ensuring they would not escape again. The iconic vehicle is currently housed in Whiskey Pete's Casino in Primm, Nevada.

British car show, Sanford FL.  What happens when you stuff an American small-block V8 into a British roadster?  You get the Sunbeam Tiger.

De Tomaso Pantera GTS Group 4, 1973. This is the week the London Concours comes to my street. Here's a nice simple Tom Tjaarda-designed 1973 Pantera from a time before it received spoilers, air dams and extended wheel arches

Why the Ford Flathead V8 Succeeded, and Why It Had to Die - Chris Perkins @Road & Track
The Ford Flathead V8 wasn’t the first V8, but when it debuted in the 1932 Model 18, it brought this brilliant engine configuration to the American masses. Read Chris Perkins at Road and Track on the rise and fall of Henry’s legendary mill

Formula drift at Englishtown tomorrow. Supposed to be 96 and I have to wear pants. Possibly the first time ever I'm not stoked to go to any car event…Hopefully I get some good shots out of it. Then it's off to Watkins Glen again for the 6 hour IMSA race.
