havent posted on here in a while cause I just never know what to post lol (and my art has been on hold) but I’ve decided to put the first draft on hold cause I changed the plot in the beginning so much in preparation for the second draft that continuing writing as is would be pointless, so I’m going to try to figure out the plot for draft 2, then finish out draft one with the plot of draft 2 lol, then actually go and do draft 2

on one hand I want to find an audience for ymg more than anything on the other hand ardev and endel’s relationship would spawn truly incredible amounts of discourse

I’m trying to make it bad but not in a clear cut way so they oscillate between having open healthy conversations and the most manipulative shit imaginable (often with good intentions executed horribly)

did being together improve their lives dramatically? yes. should they split up? absolutely. would that make both of them worse off? inevitably.

I feel like I should talk more about my characters and work on here its just I keep worrying people wont know what im talking about. like clearly other blogs about characters just kinda go on about them but I always feel the need to give a whole backstory for context

You know, when I see fictional characters who repress all their emotions, they're usually aloof and very blunt about keeping people at a distance, sometimes to an edgy degree—but what I don't see nearly enough are the emotionally repressed characters who are just…mellow.

Think about it. In real life, the person that's bottling up all their emotions is not the one that's brooding in the corner and snaps at you for trying to befriend them. More often than not, it's that friendly person in your circle who makes easy conversation with you, laughs with you, and listens and gives advice whenever you're upset. But you never see them upset, in fact they seem to have endless patience for you and everything around them—and so you call them their friend, you trust them. And only after months of telling them all your secrets do you realize…

…they've never actually told you anything about themselves.

anyways if you liked mistborn but thought ‘this needs less white people and more sopping wet gays with mental issues’ then I got you covered uwu

One thing I realized about YMG a while back is that it is completely coincidentally Extremely similar to the first mistborn book at least like…on paper

(by coincidentally I mean I read mistborn well into writing and planning YMG)

poor child of a dead prostitute discovers that she has a very powerful magic passed genetically that is almost entirely restricted to the upper class, and is subsequently taught magic by a powerful ex noble guy with mystery scars and a Tragic Backstory and taught high society stuff by a v nice tall guy w dark skin and lots of piercings, the govt sucks, conspiracies be happening, viva la revolution, etc etc

but the differences if you map the characters over to their mistborn ‘counterparts’ are So Funny

- vin is no longer a natural talent, she’s a cringe fail lesbian with shaking chihuahua vibes

- kelsier is the most pathetic depressed gay alcoholic to grace the earth and is in a relationship with sazed

- elend is a soft spoken blind butch lesbian

- breeze is a trans pimp

- sazed is a slut
