Book 1 of my series, Starbourne, is FREE!! For the other books please donate $6 per book to one of the aforementioned links. I'm planning on making this a series of 9, but currently working on book 2.
Doing one of those note things for motivation (or notivation because notes lol)
25 notes - I do the dishes and clean out the litter box (done, for now... But these are Sisyphean tasks)
50 notes - I clean up around the house (I did a little cleanup, might do more later)
100 notes - I do a little work on my book (it still needs editing before I can publish it and write the sequel, but I'll do some work on that when my PC stops crashing)
250 notes - I start working on book 2 (or work harder on editing book 1 if it still needs it)
500 notes - I participate in artfight (in the first July after it reaches this threshold. I doubt it'll get there by this month.)
1k notes - I start working on a video game in the Starbourne multiverse. A small one, like Undertale is to Deltarune. I'm calling it Saturn Robe which is an anagram for Starbourne, like Undertale is for Deltarune.
2.5k notes - I start working on my dream game, Starbourne. The one that's the reason I started writing in the first place. (If the small game isn't finished I work harder on that)
5k notes - I dedicate my time to taking care of myself/my partner/my family, and working on my dream game.
10k notes - I become a god in the Tumblrverse (this will not happen)
If you want to know more about Starbourne, check out my other blog @phiction-of-grandeur and my community for more details. My askbox is always open if you want to ask me something.
Here's the first book now:
And here's a newer version of the first book, with (hopefully) better writing. It's gonna be longer than the draft above.
Here's the book on AO3 as well ^^

Hello! I’ve always really respected your taste, so I was wondering if you had any book or fic recommendations? Any genre/trope/fandom is cool, as long as you’re enjoying it!
OOHOHHGHGHGHH YES
wow first of all thank u for saying u respect my taste. what a kind thing to say about someone 😌💛
second of all LETS SEE (CRACKS OPEN MY RECENTLY READ LIST*)
THIS IS A LONG POST. SORRY
BOOK RECS
obviously there's something wrong with me and i've been reading nonstop discworld books at the exclusion of almost all else for almost a calendar year now. in my defense it was 2024 and then as if that weren't enough it became 2025. so if you haven't read any discworld yet and you want to know what the hell i'm talking about, you should give it a shot! i wrote a whole big long post about where you should start based on thematic interests etc but recently i've revised my position to a much simpler one which is adults should start with THE TRUTH and go from there
have you read WHEN THE ANGELS LEFT THE OLD COUNTRY by sacha lamb? you should read when the angels left the old country by sacha lamb. every time i am forced to read something that sucks and is bad, i am compelled to perform a palate cleanser by reading something that rocks and is good instead, which is wtaltoc by sacha lamb. wtaltoc was written by someone who was like What if good omens were jewish, and transgender, and gay, and concerned with labor struggles in early 20th century new york
the book that i read in the last couple years that i've spent the most time thinking about in non-fandom-y ways is THE FOX WIFE by yangsze choo! REALLY interesting juicy characters and super fun setting (mostly china + japan in ~1910, very end of the qing dynasty / mid meiji era - so things are changing very rapidly in both countries in many ways). extremely compelling depiction of fox spirits! the author reads the audiobook herself which i found really pleasing and listenable
another total banger audiobook experience was RED RABBIT by alex grecian, read by john pirhalla - road trip horror in the old west (but like, relatively light horror). GREAT ensemble cast with extremely distinct voices (esp as read by pirhalla who does great accents), interesting and nuanced treatment of "magic is real" / "some of you mfers are just racist and misogynist"
nghi vo's SINGING HILLS CYCLE is obviously absolutely nothing but banger after banger. i don't always love vo's other longer works for some reason but every single singing hills novella turns me inside out. so good. if anyone out there has been struggling with reading original work after fanfic braining themselves too hard (been there!!!!!!!), these are great ~training wheels in that they're VERY short, you can read them in any order or just pick one as a standalone, and they're a really pleasing mix of like. nuanced and textured and rereadable, while also being quite straightforward and obvious in what they're saying and what's happening
LOTE by shola von reinhold and Y/N by esther yi are both NOT very straightforward or obvious in what they're saying and what's happening. they both have something to say about obsession, academia, and fandom (interpreted loosely in lote's case). they are both pretty weird. i enjoyed both immensely! in LOTE, a compulsive scammer / person who ghosts her own life devotes herself to unearthing a black woman artist from the 20s who's been systematically excluded from the canon. things get weird. in Y/N, a grad student discovers kpop fandom and self-insert fanfiction, and then gets the opportunity to meet Her Boys in real life. things get weird.
zoë: damn how long have you been sitting there writing that answer? i would have been like "just read tiger tiger" and been done. me: FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! read tiger tiger by petra nordlund (which continues to update on discord)
zoë upon reading all my book recs: no nonfiction? me: FUCK!!!!!!!!!!! just read THE OLD WAYS by robert macfarlane my best friend and comrade for life. and also THE HARE WITH AMBER EYES by edmund de waal
*- none of these are actually that recently read bc of aforementioned discworld-related ailment
i do actually also have a public storygraph account. not sure what "following" someone on storygraph entails but if you're ever curious what i've recently read (i don't do "currently reading" bc i'm a flake. i LOVE to dnf books. life is not long enough!!!!!) you can always peek in there!
FIC RECS
REALLYYYYYY enjoyed zakalwe's most recent vetvimes (discworld) oneshot it made me feel like this
Tumblr media
it really like. Evoked Fanfic Emotions In Me you know what i mean. the kickyfeet embarrassed delight of truly fun, funny fluff. so good and SO hard to get right
2. likewise ao3 user Vee_hee_hee's fics "a game of kings" and "the damn shrimp conference" are REALLY funny and have great characterization, but also tremendous grasp of the sense of humor of the universe of discworld in general. "a game of kings" has an INSANELY good visual element that makes me laugh out loud every time, and "the damn shrimp conference" has an explanation of Vetinari's Thing About Mimes that's so ingenious and logical that i have wholly absorbed it as a piece of dw worldbuilding
3. i'm not a batman guy but MULTIPLE of my beautiful beloved friends are batman guys. this means i get the benefits of batman (my friends' fics; fun characters and goofs) without having to actually read any batman comics. you should read BUY BACK THE SECRETS by ao3 user SUNDISCUS!!!!!!! AND while you're at it you should read SEND TO ALL by ao3 KEROSCEENE <- fic that makes me laugh out loud which i'm sure is even funnier if you know the guys
4. traces left by qi pieces by yiqie had me screaming in aiwen's dms for like 3 days straight as i read it. (SNIFFLIMGN) SHE WAS SO CRAZY FOR THAT
5. every day i make a patient beautiful concerted effort to come to terms with the idea that information gathering by tacroy probably will not get finished for a long time if ever (brief perusal of tacroy's public tumblr reveals that since the 2nd of 3 promised chapters was released, they + their wife have had a FRESH BABY) (I HAVE ABANDONED FICS FOR LESS REASON THAN THAT) and even though obviously this lost 3rd chapter weighs upon my soul............ the first 2 chapters................ lift my soul even higher.................... for a net gain in soul elevation i would say
6. tiger tiger by ao3 user acernor "acernor" acernor (no known relation to petra nordlund or the webcomic tiger tiger by petra nordlund). included in thsi list partially because it's funny to have two tiger tigers but also because it genuinely slaps ass and acernor's depiction of a tiger is really grounded and lovely
7. from halfway along by lelek. sci fi space opera au of all time to ME
ok ok ok i'm stopping there because it's 10:20pm and i need to take a shower (<- grandpa who needs to go to bed by 11pm or consequences happen to me) BUT let it be said that my ao3 bookmarks are also all public, if not particularly useful in terms of content (lots of "weeping" "jesus christ" "rending my flesh" etc, not much in the way of summary)
UM
I HOPE... YOU ENJOY LITERALLY ANY OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!! if you (OR ANYONE: you reading this post right now) ever read something on my rec and enjoy it OBVIOUSLY PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!!! it does actually contribute to my overall life force which in 2025 is something we all need

In Defense of Fanfiction (Or the perfect starting point for your original novel)
Fanfic gets a bad rap pretty much everywhere except Tumblr. It’s misunderstood and misrepresented by its average works, seen as juvenile and cringey, or a banal point of contention between a famous person or piece of media and its fans.
Outside of fanfic that writes about real people, especially smut fics of real people, I support the art wholeheartedly. Fictional characters are one thing, but personally, caricaturing a celebrity’s life for public consumption and writing or drawing them in compromising content without their consent is a little weird. You do you. Don’t like, don’t read, as they say.
Fanfic is the perfect starting point for a few reasons:
It places you in a creative box and forces you to work within those constraints
It does all the worldbuilding and character concepts for you
It lets you write way outside your comfort zone
When published and receiving feedback, it boosts your self-confidence
It's incredibly flexible
It’s practice. All practice is good practice
Behold your creative box
When I was little I had no idea the majority of fanfic was shipping fics. I always pictured and looked for canon-divergent alternate universes. Like, what if X happened in this episode instead of Y? What if this character never died?
Fanfic demands you work within someone else’s canon, whether it’s an OC in the canonical world, or the canonical characters in an AU. These are like little bowling bumpers saving you from the gutter, but also keeping you on a straight-ish path toward the pins.
The indecisiveness of too many choices can be too intimidating when you’re first starting out. You want to be a writer but you have no idea where to begin, what genre to pick, what characters you want to chronicle, what themes you want to explore.
Even if it sits on your computer never to see the light of day, you still got those creative juices flowing.
Pre-packaged worldbuilding
Sometimes all we want is to get to the good stuff. Maybe I want to write a story about elemental magicians but Last Airbender already exists and I just want to play in a pre-existing sandbox. So I write some OCs into that world and have a free-for-all.
I don’t have to come up with my own lore, world history, magic system rules and mechanics, politics, geography—any of it. I get to just focus on the characters.
Even if you’re writing an AU, like say a coffee shop AU, you don’t have to think about brand new characters, you can just think “What would M do?” and go from there. The trade-off is your readers will expect canonical characters to behave in-character, but I think it’s worth it.
Stretch beyond your comfort zone!
Do you hate writing action scenes? Go practice with a shonen anime fic. Need work on dialogue? Write some high-fantasy fic, or a courtroom drama. Practice a fistfight by watching fistfights and writing what you see, and do it over and over again until what you read makes you feel like you're watching what’s on screen.
But beyond that—practice genres that you aren’t super familiar with. If you’re new to fantasy, write fantasy fic. Or a mystery novel/show, thriller, comedy, satire, adventure, what have you. The nature of fanfic still gives you those “guardrails” and you can get some brutally honest feedback on how you’re doing.
And, of course, the realm of M-rated romance and smut fics. I haven’t because I think I would die of embarrassment if I tried and I never intend to include sex scenes in my works anyway, but if you do want to, use the internet as your test audience. Post it on a throwaway account if you’re nervous.
Build that self-confidence!
The fandoms I used to write for are super dead, so it’s insane how I still get email notifications that so-and-so liked my fic to this day. Comments are as elusive as ever, but random strangers on the internet telling me they liked my work is a magical reassurance that my writing isn’t actually awful.
Random strangers on the internet are, as we all know, beholden to no moral obligation to be kind to your little avatar face, or be kind to be polite. So a rando taking the time to like my work or even leave a positive comment can feel more honest than one of my friends telling me what they think I want to hear.
I tend to avoid the more present aspects of fandom like online communities, forums, social media, what have you, so I get a delayed and diluted aspect of any given fandom through completed works. Which means, in general, I get to avoid the worst and most toxic aspects of fandom and get to sift through positive feedback and critique.
Even if your fanfic isn’t written with stellar prose, it’s fanfic. We don’t expect Pulitzer-prize winning content. And if your work isn’t up to snuff, people are more likely to just ignore it than put you on blast (at least in my experience, I never got a bad comment or a “flame” in the old FFN days).
Fanfic doesn’t care about the rules of published literature
On the one hand, try not to practice bad habits, but with this point I mean that your layout, punctuation, formatting, paragraph styles, chapter length–all of it is beholden to no rules. I get as annoyed as the next reader with giant blocks of paragraphs, or the double-spacing between pages of single-sentence paragraphs, but if the story’s good enough I might ignore it.
There’s more than just straight narrative fics, though. People write “chat” fics, or long streams of text and group chat conversations. The scene breaks can come super rapidly–I’ve seen fics with a single sentence in between line breaks to show the passage of time. And without the polish of a traditionally published novel, I’ve never seen a purer distillation of author voice in any medium more than fanfic.
All practice is good practice
Even if it’s crack fiction, or a one-off one-shot, or something meant to be lighthearted and straightforward and free from complex worldbuilding and intricate plots. It really helps break writer’s block when you can shift gears and headspaces entirely and you can get relatively instant feedback to keep you motivated.
Beyond that, the “guardrails” help you stay consistent as far as character growth and personality if you struggle with designing rich characters.
The most recent fanfic I wrote was just a couple years ago, for a dead fandom I didn’t think would get any traffic whatsoever. It wasn’t my original works, but the feedback on that fic gave me the kick in the butt I needed to get back into writing more seriously.
In short, I support fanfic. I may not be proud of my earliest fics' prose now, but I am proud that they walked so I can now run.

Lalo Salamanca taking your Virginity (Fluff and Smut) Headcannons
Warning: smut, dirty talk, fingering, unprotected sex (please practice safe sex)
SUPER late Valentines gift for my fluff & smut enjoyers
:( 💗
above the cut off will be fluff and below will be smut i hope you enjoy 🫧🙂‍↕️ i have one for Logan as well so stay tuned ;)
—-> i am a bit off to a slow start for this new year but im hoping to get a better schedule going with releasing more work with more (older) men that i want to write from different fandoms (im looking at you negan🫣) i will still prioritize lalo and BBC/BCS though do not worry 💗
FLUFF 🫧
- Lalo never really saw himself as a romantic
- He’s always been in and out of states/towns and the few times he’d stay a while somewhere he’d only pick up a hookup for a few hours to a day and that was about it
- For you it was different
- You made him feel emotions he didn’t like to feel
- Emotions like fear of something happening or losing you
- It felt strange to him to have such deep feelings for someone, especially someone who didn’t know what he was involved with
- Lalo would try to not push you too soon to do anything sexual as he was also getting the hang of how being in a relationship was
- When I tell you this man would be sending you so many expensive gifts 😭
- Lalo would make you feel like you were a sugar baby
- Lalo would give you a white lie that the reason he has so much money is because he has a tequila business in Chihuaha
- I feel like Lalo would take you to different restaurants, both fancy and regular ones
- Once you two would have gotten to know each other a bit more he’d definitely cook for you almost 24/7
- This man LOOOOOOVES to show his love in acts of service so be prepared to be fed good 🙂‍↕️
- I feel like Lalo would 100% have major blue balls but would respect your choice of waiting for a bit if that’s what you wanted
- “It’s okay mí amor (my love) we can wait til you’re ready”
- When the time would come I feel like it’d be when Lalo would take you to his house in Chihuaha
- Neither of you planned it it just would happen after him showing you his home and having dinner
- It’d start off as small touches here and there at the table by the fireplace
- Lalo would teasingly rub your thigh in circles
- You didn’t know if it was the atmosphere the alcohol in your blood stream or all of it at once but wanting to pounce on Lalo then and there was an understatement
SMUT ❤️‍🔥
- Lalo would be a gentlemen and take you to the bedroom once he noticed that things were getting more heated
- “Estas segura princesa?” (Are you sure princess)
- Lalo could feel the tightness in his denim jeans becoming uncomfortable but he didn’t want to make you feel rushed either
- “Please Lalo” you’d whimper, “I need you so bad”
- Lalo could’ve practically cummed on the spot as he’d never seen you so desperate before
- Although Lalos dick was being strained he wanted to make sure you were taken care of first and that there was some foreplay
- He kissed up your neck while snaking his hand up your thigh and up your skirt
- Hearing how you moaned against his lips as he brushed his thumb over your clothes clit
- Lalo groaned as he moved your panties to the side feeling just how wet you were
- “Mierda, how bad do you want me princesa?” Lalo would groan as he’d use his thumb to rub small circular motions on your clit
- “S-so bad” you’d moan, gasping at the burning sensation of one of his long, thick fingers entering you
- You weren’t used to anyone else’s fingers other than yours when you were alone and horny in your apartment
- You’d be lying if you said it didn’t feel better than yours and hurt as they were thicker
- Lalos fingers curled up inside you a hitting a certain spot you weren’t aware you even had
- Your legs trembling both from adrenaline and how good it felt
- You moaned and panted as Lalo inserted another finger and with his free hand exposed your tits and started sucking on your sensitive nipple
- You hand one hand in his slicked back hair and the other trying to find its way to the front of his jeans
- Once you felt his dick through his jeans you heard Lalo whimper as you knew the constraint of his denim jeans must hurt
- Lalo slowly taking his fingers out of your cunt
- You whined, your walls missing the way he had been stretching you
- “I want to make sure this is was you want muñequita (doll)” Lalo said caressing your cheek, “if at any time you want me to stop just let me know”
- I honestly feel that Lalo wouldn’t try some freaky ass position on your first time just because he wants to make sure he can see your face in case you want to stop at any moment and also he’s not a monster who’d make you get on top on your first time 😭💀
- You’d feel a bit embarrassed being fully naked in front of him but it didn’t see to bother Lalo
- Matter of fact Lalo actually loved seeing you fully bare beneath him as he had your feet up in the air and kissed down your leg
- “Lalo por favor (please)” you’d pathetically moan as you just wanted to feel him inside; all the teasing starting to feel too much
- Lalo would set your leg down kissing you on the lips as he caressed your face
- You gasped into Lalos mouth stifling a painful moan as you slowly felt his cock head stretch out your entrance
- It felt like being ripped in two and was a weird sensation of both pain and pleasure
- “Y-you’re too big” you’d manage to moan out feeling Lalo bottom out
- “Shhh muñequita, you can take it” Lalo would groan kissing down your neck before slowly pulling out and thrusting in you
- Lalo would definitely be the type to give you words of encouragement 😮‍💨
- “Such a good girl” Lalo would say looking down to where his cock inserting into your gummy walls
- “Good girl you can take more can’t you?” 😵‍💫
- Lalo would try to hold off as much as possible not to cum as you were basically soaked and your whimpers and moans were enough to get him off
- When I tell you this man would love to overstimulate you 😵‍💫
- Lalo would be having your legs up on his shoulders making sure he was fully deep inside you, rubbing circles on your clit and his other hand rubbing circles on your nipple 😩
- The way his cock would be hitting your cervix would make your mind go hazy
- He’d know exactly when you were close as he could feel your gummy walls tightening around him
- Your moans turning into pants and pleas for him to not stop as you dug your hands into the mattress and his back
- “Just like that princesa” Lalo would moan as your cunt would tighten around him as you’d feel your orgasm wash over you
- “Such a good girl, you look so beautiful cumming for me muñequita”
- Lalo would pull out rubbing his cock on your swollen and sensitive clit as he’d cum on your abdomen and some of it landing on your tits
- Although Lalo wouldn’t be much of a big moaner he’d definitely whimper when he’d cum as his cock would be sensitive
- This would be definitely something you’d note for next time 👀
- Lalo would be a gentlemen and get a warm towel to clean you up
- Lalo would definitely be a big aftercare person 💗
- He’d kiss you on the forehead telling you how beautiful you are and how much he loves you
- “Go to sleep mí amor” Lalo would whisper as he’d kiss your head as your body was sore and exhausted
- Lalo being the man he is would for sure be ready for round two and more by the time you wake up 😮‍💨

Tumblr media
hey, i'm a new sonic fan (really digging your writings btw!!!) would you mind explaining a bit of this tag of yours? i get the feeling youve been in the fandom for a while haha X)
hello, I am SO sorry for the late response. I am terrible with my asks and kind of disappeared for much of the winter. Some might say this particular hedgehog was hibernating! That said, welcome to the fandom!
You are right! I've been here since 2012, but I've done many blasts to the past to learn about the things before my time lol.
This is gonna be an off-the-cuff answer, so bear with me, but this ask was in reference to this post where I mentioned some "questionable Amy Rose characterization." In short, it's only within maybe the last eight or so years that North American Sonic has been in decent sync with Japanese Sonic, as a franchise. While there are still plenty of localization differences between these two realms (from characterization to plot/lore implications), they are largely on the same page, now. This wasn't always the case.
When Sonic first appeared in the 90s, there was essentially a version of him for every "video game region" (North America, Japan, and Europe). Sonic was characterized very differently depending on where he was. Again, super off the cuff, but American Sonic was a super cocky, sassy speed demon who made fun of his enemies and had no fucks to give. Japanese Sonic was still arrogant and sassy, but a lot less flashy about it. European Sonic, I am the least familiar with, but I know him to be somewhere in the middle of NA and JP. NA and EU also have their own cast of characters on top of the official characters we know.
To the core of your question about Amy, Amy chasing Sonic is a trope in JP media between young lovers and was largely meant to be shown as a game between the two. Amy also reads as a lot more "cute and endearing" in Japanese iterations of her in the 2000s.
However, NA Sonic, as a franchise, played up her romantic feelings for Sonic to an absolute extreme for laughs, but it ended up with some really dubious results. Amy's NA characterization makes her out to be more of an active aggressor. Words you might see floating around about this include "stalker," "fangirl," and "obsessed." These things led a lot--like, A LOT a lot--of people to dislike or vehemently hate Amy Rose.
Some iterations of this aren't so bad, but the ones people really point at are Sonic Battle (she mistakenly believes that Sonic intends for a robot named Emerel to be their son), Sonic Heroes (Amy's reason for hunting Sonic down is to "get him to marry her"), and Sonic Adventure 2 (Amy says that she will only free sonic from his prison cell if he agrees to marry her; she is unsuccessful and frees him anyway).
To be clear, I FIRMLY believe that the latter two examples I gave were meant to be understood as jokes and that IS how Sonic takes them. People also point to a moment in Sonic 06 where she says she would choose Sonic over the fate of the world, but I also firmly believe that people misinterpret her meaning (more on that here). However, the fact this is a hill I need to die on shows that it wasn't made clear enough by the American writers. And anyway, this really starts to simmer down around 2008 with Sonic Unleashed.
The general consensus in the fandom, to my knowledge, is that this happened for two reasons. 1) Amy's crush combined with Sonic's (at the time) purposefully ambiguous feelings for her made for the type of gag humour that was big in the 2000s, and 2) Sonic already had a highly popular love interest in Sally Acorn, a NA-exclusive character from the 90s cartoon (Sonic the Hedgehog/SatAM) and the Archie comics that largely acted as a continuation of that cartoon's story.
Sally was so much "in Amy's place," as it were, that the NA instruction Manual for Sonic CD (Amy's introductory game, mind you) deliberately refers to Amy as Sally.
I'm not super well informed about Archie Sonic, but Amy has kind of a bad rep in those comics too. She has a uncomfortable back story (she uses magic, basically, to make herself older so she can join Sally's freedom fighters and be with sonic), is consistency depicted as overbearing and mean, and I've even seen people complain about the way she's drawn (she always has this unbecoming, large mouth that makes her unpleasant to look at).
However, the Archie comics underwent a total reboot in 2013 (the comics ended in 2017), and my understanding is that Amy's characterization is dramatically improved from there on out.
Again, SUPER off the cuff. There were a lot of micro details I skimmed over. I 100% encourage you to go on the deep dive and draw your own conclusions, but I hope this gives some good background to get started!
In summary, NA Amy Rose (and, to a lesser extent, Amy Rose in general during the early 2000s), is kind of rough to watch. SEGA over-corrected a little bit around 2012 by taking her down the hyper-independent route, but settled on something really solid for her in 2017 starting with Sonic Forces and the IDW comics.

Hey, I’m super disappointed to say the least that Bobby is dead. Stupid stupid writing. I’m thinking it will cost the show viewers, but then maybe not? I noticed that just after last episode, the 911 insta reached its 1 million followers. I unfollowed but seems like this ‘stunt’ got them many new followers and it makes it all even more upsetting.
respectfully, anon, but just because you disliked the episode does not make it bad writing. and this isn't a stunt, it's a major character death on a tv network procedural that was a long time coming. most network procedural get major character deaths within the first three seasons, so 911 was the outlier, there, and this is what's gonna take the show to new heights. the constant near deaths without any follow through was getting stagnant, and with Bobby dying, especially in the way he did, it's gonna breathe new life into the show moving forward. from both a writing and acting persepective, this was a good choice for the show.
there is a reason people are gonna tune in for the next episode, and it's not because the writing sucked. it's because 911: contagion was extremely well done, extremely well acted, and it's one of the more respectful tv deaths I have ever seen. Bobby died saving his family, his team, and his wife was there with him the whole time, and he went out praying, which was a very good tough when you know Bobby's very religious. as far as ways for bobby to die go, this was the most in character. there was never gonna be any way that he would ever let any of them die so that he could live. he was always gonna sacrifice himself for them, even if he didn't want to die, simply because he felt it was the right thing to do, and most likely, because he never got to save his first family, but he could damn well save this one. there's also the fact that Chimney had a little daughter, and an unborn son on the way.
people need to learn to objectively view things. just because you, personally, did not like this, and many people in the fandom hated it, does not mean it's bad writing or that it was a stunt, or that it was maliciously done. it wasn't, even though some of the cast hate this decision, it still doesn't make it a bad one.
and i will just point out that Peter Krause has been an executive producer on the show for the past, what, three seasons? so out of all the actors, him and angela have the most say out of their own storylines and i highly doubt they would've killed him off if he didn't want to do it. (also let's be realistic here, peter is in his 60s now, and this is a highly demanding physical job with a very chaotic schedule, so it's not really that much of a surprise that he's leaving after 8 years of doing the show, is it?)

your könig body headcanons. please and thank you. lemme see what’s going on under there
You got it!
As always, my König is probably going to vary significantly from the popular fandom one (refer to @ghouldtime for my regular ones on him) but that's cause I love writing him as just a guy!
First and foremost, I think he's about 6'6" (at most 6'7"). The 6'10" is absolutely RIDICULOUS. He wouldn't be able to fit in most military gear (safety issue) or even things like bunks, and I believe that's about the most the Austrian military allows (dependent on branch). Plus, at that size, you get a lot of health issues earlier on typically.
I type him as a mesomorph. He's clearly more trim than an endomorph but also doesn't have a scrawniness to him. He's more like a moose build over a bear. Still strong as fuck, still like a tank, but not as 'thick' per say. Just a bit more spread out
He has plenty of muscles on him, he has to. He's hauling a lot of gear and needs to use his substantial form of his job. His clothes just usually hide those
But that's because he is incredibly active and keeps up his form
He WAS a lanky and scrawnier teen but in his older age, he's filled out
I'm NEVER going to give him very clear cut abs. He has a layer of fat over his muscles - that's just natural! And healthy! And absolutely wonderful it's so perfect
He's a big dude, he needs to eat a lot of calories to keep his weight on and to keep going. He's still very much in shape but he's got muscles under that protective layer
He's prone to losing weight when deployed because a lot of the time, what they're served and the times between meals don't cover it. It's why he might gain some extra pounds when he's at home, but that's still healthy and normal. Hey, he deserves it after the workout he puts in
Also stating, he's not some super model. He's just a guy! Like just looked up the leak version of his face model. He's not meant to be this utter stunning Calvin Klein model. And I love him that way and in all that he is
There's nothing more beautiful to me than a guy who is just himself. There's beauty in being human :)
He's a pale guy who burns quite easily. Especially seeing as he's nearly covered head-to-toe most days. Sunscreen is his best friend
He has a smattering of light freckles! They're here and there on his body and there's not really a rhyme or reason, but they're there if you look on places like his forearms and shoulderblades
Like many others who are actively deployed and find themselves in such violent warzones, he's covered in scars of different types. From bullet wounds to knife to burns, his body is a patchwork of them
The most heavily scarred areas are his arms, thighs, and abdomen. Those just naturally take a lot of the flack and he's not exactly focused on being the most graceful out there
He's an insertion specialist (not THAT kind, get your mind out of the gutter. that comes later), he's used as a human battering ram, he's going to be scarred up
There is a prominent scar on his upper lip. That's just from when he was a kid
He was running in the house, like his mom specifically told him not to, and he slipped, ate shit, and bam - new scar
(His mom will still bring it up, as mortified as he is)
His eyes are sunken and always have deep bags underneath them
Sleep evades him even on the best of days and even when most of his face is hidden, you can see the tiredness to them
They're also slightly droopy! They give him a naturally 'sadder' or hound dog look
As for the color, it's a washed out blue-gray like clouds on a winter day or like the first hints of frost in winter
He has dark auburn hair and mostly keeps it in a closer cropped cut. The buzz cut is saved for when he's working, most times anyways, unless he's particularly busy and doesn't want to deal with it
He likes how it looks when it's a bit grown out but he's a man of practicality
The carpet does indeed match the drapes - his body hair is dark auburn, if not a bit darker than what's on the top of his head
Speaking of body hair, his follows the acuminate (tapered) shape
He doesn't fully shave. Not his style and just doesn't make sense (plus it makes him itch)
He still keeps the pits and privates neatened up, but not fully shaved. He just goes with 'as long as I can keep it clean and I'm NOT feeling disgusting after sweating all day with it)
And yes, he does have a happy trail (and it is GLORIOUS)
Now for the 'down there' stuff. NSFW under the cut
He's on the upper end of the more 'normal' sized scale Sorry, being big doesn't mean you have a massive salami and 10 inchers HURT (also they're such a massive inconvenience and you're going to be more likely to suffer from things like ED)
He's about 5.1 inches soft, 7.1 inches hard - which does make him indeed above average by a good amount
He still has a nice girth to him and weight too. It's not the thickest or biggest dick ever but I'd describe it as being comfortably large
And like most Europeans, he's uncircumsized
And most importantly, he has a slight upwards curve too when he's hard. Extra nice for hitting all those good spots
And yes, he has a prominent vein running down the center of it that also makes for some nice aesthetic at the very least
The head is a lovely blush pink (and if you point it out and compliment him, his cheeks will redden and match)
The rest is still pale, but has a ruddier shade to it than the rest of him
I can't write anything about balls without laughing like an idiot fyi but yeah, his are realllll nice. Not that he shaves them but they always have a good weight to them and hey, matches the rest of him. Will always feel right in your hands, and they're sensitive too
Really, a lot of him is sensitive to intimacy. He isn't used to touch from others and often isn't fond of it.
Normally when he cums, he's going to be giving quite a load too
He's usually pent up too because he doesn't masturbate a lot. He's usually focused on other things or has more pressing matters to attend to (like trying to sleep or worrying about the best way to paint the stained glass of the church miniature he was working on)
His taste isn't on the worse side of things, he's got a great diet. Its usually thicker in consistency and is creamier than most. Probably one of the better ones to swallow
And we all know, he's got a nice ass. A muscular one, it's not like sheer 'cake' alone but the dude works out and is on the move, it's NICE
He's always a bit self conscious about his looks since he prefers keeping most of himself covered. So compliment him and tell him how pretty he is :) 💚 my beautiful boy

Who are some of your favourite writers here?
That's a tough one because I love A LOT of them, but here are the ones that have stuck out to me.
Firstly I'll talk about some Wanda writers:
@mionemymind: one of the most compelling writers out there. I think I have a personal bias because we're similar and share similar interests (star wars lol), they've literally written a star wars based wanda fic!!! Apart from that they have really good one shots and stories. My personal favorite one shots have to be To Be Loved Is To Be Considered, The Actress & The Geek, and my personal favorite Blood Drive.
Aside from being a writer Mionemymind is also a really great person to the community and friends, and I can't tell you how many times I've smiled because of their reblogs. Truly awesome sauce.
@targaryenmarvel: From the moment her story "Fallin all in you" came onto my feed, I was desperately hooked. Absolutely one killer of a story and I can't wait for more. Really great writing and its just so perfect, that story meant everything to me at one point <3
@fortuositywritings: I love everything about this authors writing, but my most favorite thing about their style is the humor. It's so natural and well paced, it makes me smile without fail every time. They aren't as active, and I hope they're doing amazing but if I could let this author know that their series I Said No, and Love Bug changed my writing forever, I would do it in a heartbeat. They're one of the reasons I'm writing for Wanda here today.
@ziggyzolch: I discovered their fic on ao3 first and I've got to say it has me hooked. They deal with more serious topics on series and its one of my favorite parts about their style, honestly Your Prettiness is Seeping Through has got to be hands down one of my favorite series in 2024. Amazing work and great representation to those who need it.
And lastly @wandascosmic: I haven't seen much of her until today but her new series you belong with me has quickly become so special to me that I can't help but mention her. The humor between reader and Sam is amazing, but also the interactions between reader and Wanda have my heart aching so sweetly. I feel like a leech with how quickly I've sunk into this story, you belong with me is so sweetly written and I enjoy every second of it. Amazing work.
Now for the Jenna Ortega fandom, I think I have quite a list. There's so many amazing writers out there it's crazy, I'm always so well fed by both fandoms.
I've got to start out with the legendary @cobaltperun: I binged Lost, for 2 days straight. I was HOOKED. so hooked this story got in the way of my personal life because I couldn't stay away from my phone. I love the way you write Tara and gosh did the series kill and heal me. Aside from Lost, Woe out the storm is also such a sweet story. The whole concept Raiju is so interesting to me now and damn do I love a good slow burn. Im just so deeply impressed too by their rapid request process, and how much they get done, its moving.
Another legend @letorip: First I've just got to mention, his headcannons for characters are amazing and I'm CONSTANTLY having to restrain myself from asking for more because I would only continue. I highly recommend them, they're like stories in themselves. But aside from Headcannons, my personal favorite fic of his would have to be somethin' stupid, especially part 3. The whole series is a must read and gosh do I love the writing, its so beautifully described, every inch of it.
@ajortga: every fic of hers is a fucking BANGER. there's never a fic in which I'm left dissatisfied. I love it all, eat it all. When I find her on my feed, you know I'm immediately digging in. Everything is always so fluffy and nice and just makes a girl feel better yk? I completely recommend reading Cute and Absolute, My Girl, and Bear hugs. All super fluffy and heart warming fics, its crazy <333
@persevereforahappyending: This author stabs me, kills me, brings me back to life, and then stabs me again with angst but I go back every time. Specifically to their newest series A Legacies Secret which is. So. Fucking. Good. They really cooked with that one. Every Friday like clockwork I'm checking for notifications and I'm never disappointed. Their writing style just leaves a grip on you and the plots are so clever too, they're very unique and I love them. Luck Runs Out is another great series and damn I revisit that thing once every two weeks for a reminder on what true love really is.
And lastly but not least one of my newest favorite authors of all time is @honorarysimp: Uncanny Distortion was one of the best things I ever read, the plot, whilst held similarities to scream, had such a creative own twist to the authors imagination. I absolutely loved it, Tara and Detective made my day for weeks, and then came Rumor has it and now two others hold my heart, and break it, a lot. this series feels like its gonna hurt me. But overall Honorary simp is such an underrated writer and I really hope that more people will notice you out there and give you some more well deserved attention because God damn your fics are masterfully crafted and I don't even have the words to describe how much I adore them, all I can say is that I carved a space in my heart for Detective and Lucky.
that was longer than I intended but all of these authors came from the top of my head so they mean a lot to me. Tumblr is a way better place with all of these creative souls in it and honestly I wouldn't have gotten far without all this inspiration surrounding me ❤️

Do you have any advice for someone just getting into writing for Linked Universe? There are a lot of moving parts, and I'm not quite sure how to handle it all.
Hi friend!
It can be super intimidating jumping into a new subject like that. Linked Universe has nine moving parts at minimum and it's. Woah. Yeah. A lot.
But that's okay! That's normal!
Two things you need to remember:
1- What you are feeling right now has been felt by everyone else writing for this fandom
2- No one can write the story in your head as well as you can.
So! With all that said, here is what I did when I was getting into it. When I first started writing for this fandom, it was my first time writing in about 5 years and my first time putting my writing online since some truly dodgy phantom of the opera fanfic in 2009 (now long wiped from the internet, alas).
It was scary. Trying to figure out how to write even a few of these distinct characters and make them all feel individual was a lot, and the idea of nine of them was slightly absurd. What I did was do a Links Meet Story - each chapter I added a new Link, which helped build up at a more steady pace and kind of eased me into it.
Of course, once you're used to the idea of writing at least nine people to the scene, there's then the issue of making sure you give each character enough screen time. Something that I still do is keep a list of all the Chain beside me and tick off who has gotten to 'speak' in a scene.
Sometimes, if I know I want to get everyone speaking but want it more random, or to have a different chapter for every character but want to make sure it's not the same cycle every time, I put all the names into a Spin The Wheel and use that to go through the boys.
But yeah. Always keep a list. And make sure if you need to show where everyone is or have everyone speak, you tick them off on that list.
Otherwise you realise after you post a chapter that you've not said where Legend is and you get a tonne of excited messages theorising where he is when really you just forgot. So then you have to come up with a new plotline to make a cool interesting reason why he wasn't there.
Oops.
But yes! That is my advice. If you are nervous, build it up slowly, and don't forget that not everyone has to be in every scene!
And also keep a list of every Link. Trust me. You will thank yourself.
And trust yourself! You can do this, and I can't wait to see what you create!

Hello! How are you? Saw that you’re a KC fan and I wanted to ask, are you on ao3 or ffnet? If not, can you suggest any good KC authors with their stories?
hiii anon!!
I am on Ao3, but no as a writer 🥲 However, I do MANY recs (they're all third person povs!):
THE WOLF I, II, III [incomplete]
When Caroline wakes up shackled, powerless and very far away from Mystic Falls, she knows she's in serious trouble. But when a woman named Sophie Deveraux reveals the reason why she's been kidnapped and taken to New Orleans, she realizes things are far worse than she could've ever imagined. [It's The Originals Season 1, but Caroline is a witch and she's pregnant with Klaus' child. That's it.]
Take the originals, throw away most of the things you hate about it, and put Caroline in it. Results: the best spin-off for TVDU! Honestly, I'm the biggest pregnancy plot hater, both in fan fiction and canon, but this... This is everything.
Yokan [ @galvanizedfriend ] did, and is still doing, a terric job. Grammar is near impeccable, the PoV's are more in-character than TO itself, and, unlike the tv show, this story actually brings LOGICAL explanations to everything that happens. How characters think, why they do what they do, why they say what they. It's A LONG ONE, but so worth it. The author is one of the nicest people in this fandom, and I genuinely wish her the best.
It's actually a rewrite of the four seasons!! first three are published separately, but the fourth one is posted alongside the third!! there are still 10 (or less, not sure) chapter missing, but don't let that stop you from enjoying one of the best fiction out there.
Overall, everything by Yokan is a masterpiece, so you should give a general view at her Ao3 page, too!
BENEATH THE SKIN [complete]
“He could still remember those sunsets if he tried hard enough. And here it was, mirrored in a young angel’s wings.” Klaus is an Archangel whose pursuit of power is unmatched. Caroline is the only person that might be able to save his sanity.
I linked the Ao3 page, but I actually read this on FF.net!
a pure work of Art. I'm not one to cry over fictional stuff, but this work had me crying and sobbing at 3 am last summer. It shattered my heart and put it back together 300 times. It's mostly from Caroline's point of view, grammar is majestic and every chapter is addicting.
Even though it's about Archangels, it's not necessarily religious, so, if you're like me and despise anything related to religion, this is still worth your time!! it's full of angst, BUT it has a bit of comfort and a happy ending. There are some lines that genuinely made me question if this was actually a fanfiction and not a novel.
ALL I WANTED [complete]
In which I vaguely follow TVD canon and write the soulmate/werewolf mating AU which absolutely no one asked for.
OR
The one in which Klaus finds his soulmate, gets bitten, hides his mating mark from her and waits for the day she'll let him give her one back. Fluffy, mildly angsty slow burn with possible super hot hybrid smut in later chapters.
*Nominated for a KC Award in the Best Smut Multi-Chapter category*
WHEN I TELL YOU THIS IS PURE FIRE, I MEAN IT. I always found it funny how Klaus spent centuries to trigger his wolf side, just to never come in contact with it. But here, here his wolf is very much present, and sometimes even smarter than his human/vampire side.
If you enjoy possessive, protective, soul crushing!klaroline as much as I do, then this is for you! Fun and Drama walk alongside through the story, followed once again by lines that makes you re-read the link multiple times, just to be sure this is still a fan story and not an actual book.
Also, that award is 100% deserved, trust me.
RED PASSION [complete]
"It was supposed to be a one-time thing, a mistake. But, to vampires, life is blood and blood binds."
More soulmates/mates fictions, Yay!
This fanfiction gives you such a deep insight of Klaus and Caroline's pov, you almost feel it in your own mind. Denial? here. Angst? Here. Comfort? Here. Comical factor? Here. Drama Factor? Here. Heart breaking quotes that makes you bawl like a baby? Here!
Once again, we see a very interesting and active part of Klaus' wolf side (even tho he doesn't actually turn, from what I remember). ALSO! Kol being a little shit aka the best youngest-brother interpretation 🥹 very important factor imo!
SEASONS [complete]
The Princess and the King have a deal: any suitors who wish to win her hand in marriage must first successfully steal the moonstone from the Hybrid.
The Hybrid is growing tired of killing all these would-be burglars.
LUIZA [ @definedareasofuncertainty ] REALLY HAD MY HEART IN HER HANDS WITH THIS ONE. It's otherworldly, literally.
Once again, Angelic!Klaroline, but give it a twist! One thing about these idiots is that it takes them 4 seasons of denial to admit that they're in love with each other. Every chapter has such a deep insight into their minds, making you see a clear path of change and a mix of emotions on both ends that make you feel overwhelmed in the best way possible.
you should check Luiza's Ao3 page because it's a goldmine! she always put such an emotional atmosphere in her stories, the type of thing that makes you look away for a second because you have to catch a breath, almost like you are part of the story.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
now, I actually have tons of other recs, but I don't want to overwhelm you with a never-ending list 🥲 If you do want more, you should check my #PIQ ! i write down my favourite lines from klaroline fanfiction, and they're linked to the titles!!!
I hope i was helpful! Have a good one <3

Shauna is a Villain Protagonist, And Always Has Been
So the thing about Shauna...
The Yellowjackets fandom (or at least r/yellowjackets) seems to have collectively lost their shit over Shauna's misdeeds last episode. People saying they rooted for her before but can't now, that this is bad writing because no one's likeable any more, etc., etc.
Tumblr media
But here's the thing: this isn't anything new. Shauna Shipman has always been on a villain arc. She's a character motivated by selfishness and rage that at times turns violent. The lady masturbated on her teenage daughter's bed to photos of said daughter's underaged boyfriend. She killed a rabbit and fed it to her unknowing family after a reporter implied she was a boring loser housewife. She had unprotected sex with her best friend's boyfriend behind her back.
And that's all just the first episode.
I could make a long list of Shauna's "sins." I could cancel Shauna, so to speak. She's, um, super problematic to say the least. But the point I want to make isn't that you shouldn't like Shauna--it's that maybe you should like Shauna for the right reasons.
The right reason being that she's villainous and always has been. That's why she's a good character.
Tumblr media
She is narcissistic and cruel. She hurts the people who love her, whether it's poor old Snackie, that loveable dolt Jeff, or her own daughter. She thinks the world owes her and is furious that no one else sees it. Oh and she's also killed a few people. (Or maybe not. #CouchBenTruthers).
She's also smart but stifled. She's, frankly, hilarious. She has some soft spots for Bruce the Goat, and who doesn't? She's experienced a metric fuck ton of trauma out there in Creepy Acre Woods that would mess anyone up. She's never learned to take her broken wings and fly.
And all that makes her interesting. It just doesn't excuse her actions.
In the Teen Timeline, we're watching her villain origin story. In the adult timeline...okay, I'm not entirely sure where that's heading, but probably something tragic ala another famously misunderstood villain protagonist, Mr. White.
Male characters get to go really dark. They get to be sympathetic villains. No one says the writers ruined Breaking Bad because Walt did some mean things, or that the Sopranos sucks now because Tony killed (too many to name). Shauna's cruelty isn't Yellowjackets jumping the shark. It's like, the entire point of her character arc.
Shauna is basically if Breaking Bad and The Sopranos decided to make Skylar White and Carmela Soprano, the housewives of the show, just as complicated and dark as their infamous husbands.
I for one, can't wait to see what the little psycho does next.

Notes- Sunshine; Neuvillette & more x gn!reader
Return to File
Recovery date: October 11th, 2024
Description: hello again to my favourite writer! im thinking about headcanons with the boys with a s/o who's like emu in project sekai, and she's js a super energetic bundle of cheerful energy if u want a summary! for the boys uh maybe neuvillette, al haitham, xiao, kazuha, wanderer and heizou? if its too much u can take some out!
-⭐️ anon
Notes: This work was recovered in conjunction with researcher ⭐️, we thank them for their contributions. So, I had to look this character up. The first headcanon on all of them is my initial thoughts based off your request, and then everything else is based off her fandom wiki page!
Back to directory
Tumblr media
Neuvillette
Initial thought, he’s used to Furina and her persona of Focalors so it’s not really new to him
Despite what he thinks, he’s gotten very good at human emotions
But he does write a letter to Sigewinne for how to help you, and she pulls through by suggesting he cooks for you
He wants you to rely on him like everyone can rely on you
You’re intuition on peoples sincerity is really useful
He looks at cases so critically, but you’re willing to believe the accused and sometimes you point things out that he missed
Especially now without the Oratrice, he has to be extra careful when examining everything
You’re smart, he definitely goes to you for help about humans and cases
Al Haitham
Initial thought, you must be really smart or really good at returning his snark for him to handle your energeticness on a daily basis
He’ll warn you about being too naive, just because something sounds like a great idea doesn’t mean it is
He has come to your rescue a few times, like when you went into the dessert and thought one water bottle would be enough
When he notices you bottling things up, he gifts you journal
He won’t make you talk about your feelings, in fact he prefers it this way, but he hates seeing the negativity eat away at you
No notes on your emotional intuition, though he thinks it’s a useful skill
Hey! Wiki says Emu is really smart
This is why Al Haitham can live with your energetic personality, just don’t expect him to match you
Xiao
Initial thought, baffled by how positive and energetic you are but doesn’t hate it
You have called him on multiple occasions when you’ve gotten yourself in trouble
He wishes you weren’t quite so naive, he’s saved you from hilichurls a few times because you didn’t realize they’d spot you trying to slip past
He’s really bad with feelings but, he’s there for you if you need him
To him, your negative feelings seem to eat at you the same way his karmic debt eats at him
So he tries to help
Glad you have such good emotional intuition, he’s horrible with them
No thoughts on your intellect, it doesn’t really affect anything with him
Kazuha
Initial thought, he finds it inspiring for his poems and stuff and while he doesn’t have quite as much energy as you he’s happy to meet your cheeriness
Always happy to help you with your plans and make sure they’re reasonable, you don’t usually get to the point he has to save you
Encourages you to let out your negative emotions, bottling things up isn’t good
Sometimes you write poems together, and sometimes he just listens to you
Your emotional intuition amazes him
He’s always thought he was good at reading people, but you don’t even need to see the person
Likes having intellectual conversations with you
Be it literary discussions or more stem inclined
Wanderer
Initial thought, like Al Haitham you must have something else going really strong for you because you are a beacon of attention and he actively avoids everyone
Indulges your naivety because you have to learn somehow, but he doesn’t let you get hurt
Like that time you miss judged the trek to Avidya forest
Connecting with emotions is part of his reformation, so he tries to help you
Especially if those emotions have to deal with abandonment or grief
Honestly, his response to most things being “murder” makes you laugh and he’s glad
He hates that you can see through his nonchalant act right from the get go, the words just don’t match the look in his eyes
You make writing papers easier because you raise counterarguments for him
Heizou
Initial thought, like Kazuha he finds you inspiring but on more of a personal level and has use you to distract criminals
Acts on your impulsive plans together, if you fall you fall together
Plus he can protect you in a dangerous situation
As a detective, he’s the first to notice your smile no longer reaching your eyes
So he uses interrogation techniques to get you to confess
And by that I mean he discreetly leads you into telling him what’s up, no torture required
You make interrogations so easy, he’s good at catching liars but you’re better at telling when people are hiding something
Also he’s baffled when you tell him Itto isn’t acting and really is that happy go lucky
Loves that he can match wits with you, puzzles are a fun pass-time of yours

1lostsoul0fishbowl writes an amazing rare pair of Gareth and Eleven. It's such a sweet AU. And they're just a wonderful member of the fandom regardless. Always excited to see them on the dash and they deserve all of the love.
Introducing @1lostsoul0fishbowl!
We're highlighting losty for her written found-family fics! All recs tagged #1lostsoul0fishbowl will be for her work, both fics and moodboards. She answered some questions about her process below
What's a fandom interaction that made you really happy?
It’s so special to get comments on my Gareth/El fics, because they’re a SUPER-rare rarepair and I love it when people are willing to give them a chance and then find themselves truly enjoying the story. One of my favorite comments was from a reader who told me “I don’t know how I’m gonna find another Gareth and El story like this. I will probably be in a retirement home one day, reminiscing on this fic.”
What's your favorite character or aspect of Stranger Things to create for?
My favorite character started out as Eddie (as it did for so many others!). I’d watched and loved Stranger Things since it first started airing, but none of the characters had ever grabbed my heart and made me actually want to write the way Eddie did. Something about him reminded me that I could reject the ending the Duffers gave him, and write him a life that I liked much better. But in my exploration of Eddie and his friendships with the other characters, I started really connecting with El. I realized I have a lot in common with her— not powers of course, just in terms of an isolated and strange childhood that resulted in me always being a little out of step with the people and the world around me. And I got hooked on the idea of El coming into her own as she grows up, and learning to be truly happy despite being a weirdo. One of the constants in my work is the happy ending. I love to build on the friendships the characters had in canon, making them continue to grow and get stronger, and for everyone to have the help they need to deal with the hurts and trauma of the past, and keep moving toward a life filled with joy.
What's your writing process like? Any tools you favor?
I’ve always been more of a plotter than a pantser in my writing process. I like to create fairly detailed outlines, because I’m afraid I’ll run out of steam halfway through a story and not be able to figure out the ending. 😂 One thing I learned as I wrote more and more, though, was that outlines can and should be flexible! My original outline for Next Time I Fall had the romance being an even slower burn, but I got to a point where El didn’t want to wait any longer to be with Gareth and I didn’t see any reason to make her. 😊 Another thing I’ve grown to love is creating mood boards. I could spend hours scrolling through pinterest searching for just the right photo to capture the vibe I want for a particular fic. I started posting a picture or two along with every “new chapter!” update post on tumblr and really had fun with it. Here’s the one for Next Time I Fall This also led me to using an awesome image generator (found here: https://penguin.jos.ht/ ) to create Penguin-style book covers for some of my fics. Choosing the right picture for each of those was a challenge! I’m particularly fond of the image I found to represent little Eddie and uncle Wayne for the cover of Gone Away.
What was it like to work on Tattoos and Trash Talk?
I got the idea for Tattoos and Trash Talk from seeing this artwork:
I’d originally seen the artwork on instagram, so I had no idea it was based on another fic. I started thinking about how Eddie might’ve been the first person El had ever seen with tattoos he liked and was proud to show off. And I thought about how Eddie especially would understand that El’s 011 tattoo didn’t represent the person she was, and she should have the chance to replace it with something she liked and got to choose herself. That idea blossomed a little bit into Eddie giving El a boost of self-confidence toward dealing with bullies in general. He taught her that she didn’t have to follow “rules” and be polite when bullies asked nosy questions about her 011 tattoo. We’d seen in the show that Eddie looked out for his “little sheepies” and I could so easily imagine him extending that protection and friendship to El too. She deserved to have a friend like him! After seeing the artwork I wrote Tattoos and Trash Talk in a single afternoon. I could picture the scene so vividly in my head! I don’t think I even did much editing, just wrote it down and immediately posted. Nowadays I’d probably edit it fifteen times and have it beta read, but I think it turned out well anyway. 😊
What was it like to work on Next Time I Fall?
Before I started writing Next Time I Fall, I never imagined I’d write a story solely focused on a rarepair that I’d made up myself. I created the pairing when I was writing my long genfic, With a Little Help From My Friends, and it started as just a little private joke with my own self. I thought, wouldn’t it be funny if El had a crush on one of Eddie’s bandmates? So I wrote a little drabble about her telling Eddie she liked Gareth (and Eddie basically freaking out and saying “I’m not qualified to handle this” 😂). But one of my readers commented that they liked the idea, so I decided to explore it further. Every Gareth/El chapter that I posted in Little Help got such great responses from the readers that I started thinking about writing more for them one day. I still wasn’t entirely convinced that a T-rated fluff fic based on a rarepair (with a brand new ship tag I created myself!) would be worth posting. I thought nobody would want to read it. But my bestie convinced me that Next Time I Fall was an idea worth sharing, so I started to write… and once I started, I couldn’t stop. I had so much fun watching those two adorable little nerds fall in love. I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written. I love the story itself, but I think I also improved as a writer while I was working on it. I tried to keep each chapter to 5k words or less, so I learned how to edit better and write a bit more concisely. And I learned that sometimes sticking to an outline works, but sometimes the story and the characters want to evolve in a different direction, and it’s best to let them go where they want. An outline can be tweaked much more easily than trying to bend a whole chapter in a direction it doesn’t really need to go. And the response shocked me!!! I thought maybe five or six people would read it, but I had a ton of readers! People commented like crazy, loving and sympathizing with both El and Gareth and rooting for them to get together. The chapter where they finally kissed has more comments than almost anything else I’ve ever posted! Readers were so happy for them, and it truly filled me with joy that I’d created something that really resonated with people. I think it was the first time the advice to “write for yourself” really made sense to me. I’d written the story exactly the way I wanted it, and people loved it exactly the way it was.

Okay, so about Mel
I have a lot of Mel fans on my "following" list, so know I'm on a different place than most of them. I thought I would still sit down as a more casual Mel enjoyer and try to explain why I listed Mel as one of the better things in the last arc and genuinely read her as having one of the better arcs.
First let me say, I think I get some of the disappointment. There apparently was a lot of acrimony in fandom. And there sadly is often always a lot of bitching about being right. It's also one of those really annoying instincts for fannish people to value being right or getting character/ship payoff over quality. The kind of crappy shows or reasons I've seen people defend just because their ship was in it.
And I include myself within that. Two of my favorite ships, Timebomb and Zaundads got some stuff, and that has deeply clouded my perception of the season, even though my more neutral opinion is that season 2 was extremely spotty.
I get that from "I had to fight people in fandom" point of view, Act 3 sucked. I get that from a personal fan engagement point of view, it is always easier to stay excited and produce media if have a ship to hold on to rather than just being the fan of a singular character.
I'm kind of in a special situation, that I've always lowkey not liked Jayce and really only found him tolerable around Mel. I thought the beginning of Act 3 was still reasonably respectful to them. They protect each other, they do a couple fight with each other.
Yes it's weird that Jayce brings up now of all times to complain about the past, but for me that was pretty much wrapped by them fighting together against Viktor. Then we have this moment where Mel explains her situation to Jayce, we have Jayce complimenting her. Honestly, before the last minutes went full on "zomg, looping timeline gifts and zapping into space together", I thought the MelJay was a bit muted, but decent enough in a finale that was generally super busy and where tons of other characters didn't have too deep writing either. But again, I see where characters wound up, completely changed people's perception of how they get there (ie that Mel and Jayce actually had a decent relationship throughout most of the show and that in my opinion both Jayce and Viktor always and Cait and Vi recently had some really spotty writing).
Somethign that is more easy for me to bear, because, like I said, I never liked Jayce that much, so it's easier for me to not care.
Everybody's Arc Was Kind Of Shit And Mel Was One Of The Better Ones
This is my basic premise of season 2. If I think of season 2, if I think of the characters who to me had the better arcs I come up with for example Sevika and Ekko.
They had better arcs because they stayed roughly in characters, formed some new relationships, got some badass moments and ended up in interesting places in the end. However both their arcs BRUTALLY suffered by lack of airtime and often missing from episodes or even arcs like Ekko.
I think Jinx had one of the better arcs, because it was very emotional and poignant, was constantly present, but even if felt choppy and all over the place at times and people are mixed on where it ended up.
I guess Jayce counts as somebody with a really meaty arc with lots of airtime, emotion, ending up in a different place, getting hero moments, saving the day etc. But like I said, I dislike Jayce too much to really think about whether his story was actually good this season.
I count Mel as among the better arcs, because she got at least semi-constent airtime, she imo stayed generally in character, she got to be badass, she ends up in a very interesting situation and they tried to be emotionally poigant with her and Ambessa. (her killing Ambessa giving major Jinx and Silco vibes even if the context was completely different) The pain of Mel's storyline has always been that she was a bit isolated from other characters, so I was happy that she at least got a badass fight together with Caitlyn. [honestly, in retrospect it's noteworthy that Mel got that spot with Caitlyn rather than Caitlyn fighting side by side with either her love Vi or her nemesis Jinx]
Just getting a badass fight isn't the same as actually getting poignant moments and developing a relationship with new characters. So that was definitely missing. People are just prone to not care as much about Mel's relationship with Ambessa, LeBlanc or Kino because from the point of view of the audience those are side or new characters and the audience only cares if the show really puts a ton of work in like in the case of Isha.
Overall the gist of Mel's storyline to me is that it seemed to be very League dictated. It's the origin story of Mel as a badass fighter, it sets up her character premise.
TBSkyen, a well known content creator in the League of Legends space, "reacted" to Arcane and he got quite angry at the finale, exclaiming something along the lines of "I thought this was gonna be a closed story, that the characters would complete their stories. But these stories are not complete, this is a sequel tease".
And that's exactly why Mel's story feels unfinished. She feels like she's part of that sequel tease (together with Cait looking at those strange map, maybe hinting at an alive Jinx).
There's a chance that Mel will get a proper resolution. But to be honest. I can't promise that. Maybe she'll get a badass Noxus based either animated or live action sequel... but we might have to wait 5-10 years for it.
Maybe the "Ambessa" novel is actually 95% about her. Maybe she will get a badass intro trailer like Ambessa. But I'm not gonna lie, even if the next season of League will be heavily Noxus based and they make heavy use of Mel in it. I'm not gonna lie, League's story telling can be very, very spotty. And even when it is decent, not everybody is particularly into collecting their infomation from short stories, splash arts, music vids, in game voice lines.

Genuinely I would give anything to hear your thoughts or read more critical analysis of yours on other webcomics writing (*slides you Marionetta* I like the webtoon but there are some things in the writing that I'd like to see be discussed critically more often but the fandom focuses way too much on shipping. sighs..)
Anyway, you probably have been asked this before but are there any webtoons in particular you would recommend? :D
Oh lord, you don't know how many times a week I get asks in my inbox asking for my opinions on webtoons they're reading. It's really sweet that people wanna hear me talk about other works outside of LO, but unfortunately I just don't have the time to read as much as I used to, even keeping up on LO lately is getting really difficult 😅 I'm definitely keeping a list though of works to check out!
That said, I try not to read series on the basis of criticizing them because frankly I just... don't want to spend time reading something if people are only looking for me to rag on it? 😆 Of course I know that's not the only reason, I know there's also just the element of seeing me talk extensively about other works the way that I do with LO, but it's not really something I can turn on and off like that, I have to get really into a series to want to talk about it to that extent. So it often comes down to just luck of the draw :'0
Right now the series I'm keeping up the most on (or have completed and would absolutely 100% re-read):
Alfie (18+, it's porn with plot but the plot is REALLY GOOD , I SWEAR LMAO the art is gorgeous, the characterization is IMMACULATE, and it ironically tackles the subject of purity culture way better than LO ever has lol)
Theia Mania (the creator is often in my comment section / neck of the woods, she's been working on an Abduction of Persephone retelling for a long while now and has also tackled other myth retellings in her style! I always love seeing new pages of her work in my feed :' ) <3)
Tales from Alderwood (if you like fantasy and comedy, this one's great, the plot's really starting to get interesting and it's just got this really great sense of humor about it)
The Black Parade (this one's REALLY interesting, it's a comic-stylized version of My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade, using the songs as narration and sometimes even dialogue to tell a visual story, it's really cool and the art matches beautifully with the lyrics and style of MCR!)
A Tale of Two Rulers (this is a Legend of Zelda fancomic that poses the question, "What if Zelda and Ganondorf got married to solve their political crisis?" It updates a lot slower than most of the other comics I follow but the art and writing is so worth it <3)
Dogs of Future Past (and p much all of Lynx's Undertale comics which can be found in the link, seriously, THESE are the comics you wanna read if you wanna get into Undertale fanworks, they are PEAK)
Tamberlane (this one's an anthro comic, I normally don't read anthro but this one actually gripped me by the throat, the art is gorgeous and the character arcs so far have been great!)
The Mafia Nanny (okay it's legit so funny that I'm including this one here but I've been reading it the last couple days after seeing it basically beat out LO at the top of the trending tab for a couple days, so I figured I'd give it a shot, at first I was like "great more tropey shit" but the more I read it the more it's actually started to get pretty good, I'm holding out and hoping to god it stays that way LOL it's not especially deep or anything like that, but it's really fun and cute to read and the shipping of the main character within the narrative isn't too self-absorbed which I can always appreciate, I'd honestly be 100% fine with it if it didn't turn into a romance)
City of Blank (I talk about this one a lot here, but it's one of my favorite Originals right now, the art is super polished and the writing has gotten INTENSE, go check it out if you want some fun action / sci-fi storytelling!)
Time and Time Again (a time-travelling vampire and his werewolf boyfriend get into all kinds of misadventures, what more could you ask for?)
Touch of Divinity (like the Mafia Nanny, this is one I just started reading, it's got a very interesting premise so far and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes!)

Hi. I finished your new video essay yesterday, after two sittings. Had to split it, because it came out in the late evening in my timezone, and my roommate was already sleeping - I was super afraid of waking her up with my loud, uncontrollable bursts of laughter (your sense of humor never fails me). I was so, so excited about this video for many months (I almost dropped my phone when I saw your runtime post), and, as always, you managed to completely amaze me in every possible way.
As always, of course, the backgrounds and decorations, the whole setup - were stunning. I LOVED the stained glass - is this a pattern now? I want this to be a pattern, you have a gift - and the wax wings, and the nonchalant way you glued them together throughout the video. Your shirt-vest combo was also what made it so good as a whole and also made me want to rob your wardrobe. Beware.
Ford's faults (and "faults") you mentioned and your arguments against them were something I've been deeply convinced of myself for years now and expected to hear them from you as well. It was deeply, deeply satisfying to hear them ALL, even the smallest, most ridiculous ones, out loud, for the first time ever. It was truly a freeing experience, and I can't thank you enough. You took all of those allegations - from the lack of a better word - that people have been coming up with since 2015 and pointed their lack of logic, thought, and attention to detail, or sometimes just plain stupidity and ignorance, out. And did so with style.
I could ramble here for a really long time about my thoughts on the character of Stanford Pines and how, for years, I observed people interpreting him in a way that's been completely different from mine. About how it baffled me, angered me, made me sad. But it's no use for me to do so because you've said everything I've ever wanted to. You saw all the same things and pointed them out in a way no one else in this fandom could. And it healed something in me. It made something click back in place. Thank you for that, from the bottom of my heart.
The thing that I DO need to point out specifically is the ending. Something that I think always angered me the most in Ford's canon story. How after everything that happened, after everything he's bern through, he doesn't see himself as a victim of Bill, a victim of abuse and manipulation that ruined his life. He sees an Icarus metaphor. And it is the way the narrative wants us to see him - it wants us to see Ford as a man that fell because of his "pure ego", overachieving behaviour, because of his refusal to listen to the voices of reason, because of him isolating himself. His happy ending in the series is bound to being remorseful, apologising to everyone he's ever hurt and changing, and then getting the forgiveness and happiness coming from it. He's made a lot of mistakes, of course. Some of them he made completely on his own, because of his flaws, personality, and ways of perceiving the world. But others (and I would say the biggest ones, the ones getting pointed out the most) are a mix of both his personality, and, majorly, abuse and trust being broken over and over again. And in the end, it doesn't get acknowledged, not really. He doesn't say, "I am a victim of abuse." He says,"I was wrong. I was cruel. Please, forgive me." And shows ends it on that note, making it the final conclusion. And it's a thing that always has been the root to Ford's tragedy in the series to me. And I've never seen anyone mention it, talk about it, even amongst Ford's defenders. And you pointed it out perfectly with the Icarus metaphor in the end.
I don't know how many too-long-for-my-own-good-and-probably-yours-too asks I will have to write again, but I know that as long as you continue to make your "little" masterpieces, I'm going to watch them on the same day, and then think about them for weeks after. And in many of those cases I feel the need to inform you of my constantly growing amazement. I hope you don't mind. I hope you know your work is admired by many, many people, and I just happen to be one of them. I hope you get some well-deserved rest. And for the last time here - thank you so, so much.
I've had this sitting in my inbox for a while and I've struggled to find the words to respond, but I'm very glad the video resonated with you so much. And I'm honored that you enjoyed it like this.
