I have no idea if it was this episode, episode 24, or episode 52 that made me a sonamy truther but I know it was ONE OF THEM
i don’t even know how to explain how much this shot affected my brain chemistry as a child like. those who get it get it and those who don’t don’t
#I like that sonic opts to add to the string instead of replacing it outright#I read somewhere that it meant something in Japanese culture but I don’t remember for certain what it was or if it was true#but personally I think it’s nice that he added a piece of him to it and turned it into a mosaic of the two of them#also consider the fact that sonic had to find more shells given that some had broken or otherwise lost from the string he had to replace#personal headcanon is that sonic keeps this bracelet tucked under his glove cuff for the rest of the show#I haven’t really talked about it before for sonic X made me a sonic fan#I discovered the English version through AMVs on YouTube (I’m that old) and was like ‘yo whose animations are these???’#and the rest is history#episode 24 is also super special to me because their bond is so sweet

I rewatched Sonic Twitter Takeover 7 recently and been thinking a lot about this question (this is only part of the answer given) because I had a little epiphany about it.
Obviously these aren’t really ”””canon”””. The lore revelations to be had in these takeovers aren’t supposed to prove any major theories, BUT I like to look at the takeovers as a general guide for how the characters are meant to be perceived at the time of their release.
I remember people reacting to both this takeover and takeover 6 (sonic frontiers) a bit poorly because of how Amy’s feelings for Sonic were downplayed. Given the recent stuff with the Gens remaster, too, this still feels particularly relevant.
Amy’s romantic feelings for Sonic have been downplayed—there’s no denying that—but I don’t think they’re being erased. With the exception of that one clip from takeover 6 (where Amy says she loves Sonic, Tails teases her about it, and Amy backpedals, saying she said “like,” not “love”—very Boom! Amy, btw), Amy’s feelings have still been on prominent display.
However, two things have changed:
1) Amy’s love has matured,
And, more importantly, in my book—
2) Sonic’s response has matured.
In the above clip, Amy states emphatically that Sonic is “her’s” and that she loves him and that he’s perfect, but kind of stumbles over herself once she realizes what she says. Important to note is that she doesn’t take it back at all, meaning that she meant what she said, but probably would have said it differently if she had given it foresight, given the setting they’re in.
This reads to me like Amy is still very confident in her feelings but is making a conscious effort to be less pushy about it—perhaps for Sonic’s sake. However, sometimes it just gets away from her because her love is just so plentiful. It’s cute!
And what makes it even cuter for me is that Sonic is, just, like, totally okay with this?
What does he do when she goofed up and gets flustered about it? He laughs! Short and sweet. He’s very aware of her affection, and he doesn’t mind it at ALL. He loves when he can get reactions out of her (directly or not). It’s in this same takeover that Sonic rags on strawberry shortcake (Amy’s favourite cake flavour) again—specifically to tease her—and he laughs the exact same way, there, too!
(It’s also implied, there, that Sonic gets Amy to chase him, so he seeks out the game just as much as she does.)
Sonic’s response can still read as distinctly neutral on a romantic level, for those who’d prefer that, but objectively it’s a lot more overtly positive. There is no denying that he enjoys her attention.
So, it’s a rebrand. For sure. But I actually find this to be a lot more wholesome? Zainey Amy™️ (when written well and not over-the-top for comedy like in certain games) absolutely has its appeal and deserves its place in canon, but the idea of Amy literally being unable to contain her love for Sonic and her compliments bubbling over is very cute to me. I also find it more powerful and significant because she’s finding her words to express her love instead of just reacting. It’s more thoughtful and reads as more genuine, as a result.
It’s different, but in my opinion, not bad! She’s not boring. She’s still giddy, passionate, loving, and more compassionate than she’s ever been. And Sonic is more accepting (enticed, even) as a result.
#Amy’s fine guys I swear#sonic still loves her I swear#they’re cute!! they’re cute#sonic’s little giggle towards her makes me melt#‘like certain games’ im sorry but there’s no justifying battle or rush it’s just impossible#they went too far#SA2 and Heroes Amy are misunderstood. those are meant to be haha silly and not serious#don’t even get me started on 06 because she probably picked the shortest straw in terms of fandom perception#you can’t tell me battle and heroes are in the same camp of BAD you just can’t#sonic the hedgehog#sth#sonamy#amy rose#sonic#sonic twitter takeover#sonic twitter takeover 6#sonic twitter takeover 7#ask sonic

Happy 16th Anniversary, Sonic Unleashed
Today is the Sweet 16th Anniversary for...
Sonic Unleashed!
Sonic had been on a globe-trotting adventure when he was close to defeating Eggman, until he drained the Chaos Emeralds of their energy,
and turning Sonic into a Werehog, causing Dark Gaia to be unleashed into the world, breaking it into a planet-sized jigsaw puzzle to create his Eggman Land.
There, Sonic had met Chip who lost his memories but then remembered he was Light Gaia, destined to clash against Dark Gaia until Eggman had prematurely woke them up both.
Still, Sonic was able to put the world back together and that epic battle with Light Gaia having to bring the temples together to create that colossus against Perfect Dark Gaia was the best! Especially having Super Sonic stop that thing.

I love this. Even though Silver usually only comes back when the future is at risk, the others are always happy to have him around. It doesn't matter what's going to happen, seeing their friend again is always worth it. And it makes Silver happy too. That he's not alone anymore. That he has friends he can count on.

came up with this comic like last month but it wasn't until last night that I actually started coloring the characters and today I decided to finish it cuz I've been in a lousy mood today (one year anniversary of my last dog's death plus frustration with my own life and the sims 4) and needed a pick-me-up so I played Believe in Myself a couple times and worked on this. And then hearing "everybody tries to be straight" at the beginning of Throw It All Away made me wanna laugh like it always does so yeah. This comic reads top to bottom within each column and describes very briefly Shadow's personal life/orientation in peaceful au up until the birth of twins Dusk and Twilight
#aroace#aroace shadow the hedgehog#I made a post like 2 years ago saying that shadow is the only character in the franchise whom I can see being aroace#I love how this comic presents it :)

Shadow must be very conflicted about his feelings for Gerald Robotnik.
On the one hand, Shadow Gens made it abundantly clear that Shadow cares for him deeply. I feel like a lot of iterations of this story focus on Shadow’s love for Maria, but this time we get to see that for Gerald as well, which is nice. Gerald gave Shadow life and compassion. Shadow also evidently respects his knowledge, intellect, and authority.
On the other hand, Gerald (in a grief-induced rage) manipulated Shadow’s mind to carry out his revenge plan, corrupting his autonomy and (technically unknowingly) denying Maria her wish. Gerald also created the Biolizard, a being Shadow regards the existence of as very, very cruel, and kept it around long enough to use it for his final plan as a last resort failsafe. Not to mention the Black Arms, as a concept.
I think this is part of why Shadow was so attached to them in Shadow Gens. It wasn’t just Gerald, the man the world came to know as a monster. It was Gerald, the keen and benevolent, if somewhat misguided, scientist. It was a chance for Shadow to relive and reassess Gerald in a light untainted by his future mistakes.
And that was probably very therapeutic for him.

This is good… I like this
Sonic is the most morally ambiguous character in the Sonic franchise
#here take someone else’s analysis because clearly I can’t write my own anymore#I realized this week that I haven’t posted an essay in over a year… I’m sorry :(#life is hard#seriously though great post OPs!

“Amy is a civilian” might be the strangest take I’ve ever heard
Hot take but whenever I see people saying that Amy is a civilian, there’s the unfathomable rage within me that wants to make me scream ‘THAT IS NOT TRUE!’
Amy in her very first modern appearance was first seen going on with her mundane life and she complained about how bored she is and that she wishes to be on adventures with Sonic because of how fun and exciting it is!
This in particular tells you that she does not like being stuck in one place and that she craves for the same sense of adventure and excitement like Sonic does.
Also, throughout her appearances in the mainline games, Amy was never portrayed to be the ‘careful one’. She’s just as out-of-pocket as literally every one of the Sonic cast is. Yet her being out-of-pocket also leads her to do lots of good deeds like guiding a robot who is emotionally conflicted, making someone remember their promise that their dead friend made or even helping out two ordinary civilians into a rescue mission while still looking for Sonic.
Making Amy be the ‘stay in the kitchen’ type character is a great disservice because all she ever cared about is being part of the fun in whatever adventures that Sonic is up to.
