Mercs Being Jealous
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Requested by menenthusiast900069)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aight, so let's make a quick list of most to least jealous, just so you get an idea of my very bias beliefs, I am semi willing to debate this.
1.) Sniper
2.) Demo
3.) Scout
4.) Medic
5.) Pyro
6.) Soldier
7.) Engie
8.) Spy
9.) Heavy
Now, onto the headcanons!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scout:
-Such a jealous baby, he can't help it
-A lot of it comes from his insecurities and also being the youngest of eight. He's used to being "the runt" of the group, even with the mercs. So he feels like he has to compete with them for your affection, even if you two are dating
-Like, someone could stand just a little too close to you and he's already starting the side eyes
-Scout, chill, for real for real
-He will attach himself to you once the jealousy kicks in. Arms wrapped around you, nuzzling up against you, it's that inner dog in him
-He will get mouthy with whoever is causing the jealousy. Talks a lot of smack for someone who is built like a damn twig. So it goes from him loving on you, to you having to prevent a fight from happening. Yes, depending on who it is, he can win the fight, he's a mercenary afterall. But when it comes to guys who have a big build like Heavy, then you'll really need to stop him
Soldier:
-Isn't really the jealous type, surprisingly. I think it comes from an oblivious stand point. Like, you need to point it out that someone's flirting with you for him to get even an increment of jealousy
-He really feels like he has nothing to worry about (which he's right). He's more than confident that you're loyal to him cause he is with you
-I feel like when you do say someone is flirting with you, he isn't gonna be violent, moreso he will make a big name and shame thing out of it (he basically did that to Miss Pauling in the comics)
-Like, "Who do you think you are flirting with MY GIRL, maggot! You are a disgrace to this country! Now drop and give me 100!"
-But that don't mean he isn't ready to throw hands. Cause he will. Homie's down to break a few necks. But if you don't want him doing that then you're gonna have to remove him from the situation
Pyro:
-I feel like they're kinda like Solider is the more oblivious aspect, but not as much. Like, they can tell when someone's flirting with you, but whether they truly care or not is up for debate
-I don't really see Pyro as a violent type when jealous. Why waste their energy on someone so insignificant to them?
-If anything, Pyro will just resort to loving all over you, more than usual. All the while giving the offending person a death stare
-It's a very effective form of intimidation
-Cause think about it, are you gonna want to fight a person wearing a flame proof suit, that isn't speaking, and is just giving you the thousand yard stare? No, you wouldn't
Demoman:
-Poor baby can be quite insecure. I feel so bad for him
-Constantly worries about not being good enough. He's so used to being beat down by the people around him that he doesn't have good self-esteem
-He will stand nearby you, waiting for you to notice him, looking like a sad and lost puppy
-Once you finally notice him, you'll have to pry him open to find out what's wrong. He doesn't like burdening you with his problems so he tends to sit and stew about everything til he bursts
-He will need to to reassure him that you aren't going anywhere and that you love him. He needs a lot of verbal reassuring cause he's a worrying lad
Heavy:
-Heavy? Jealous? Where?
-While Scout, Demo, and Sniper might be the top three most jealous, Heavy, Engie, and Spy are the least jealous
-Heavy is this big, strong bear, why would you ever wanna settle for less? Like, frfr, you'd have to have an IQ less than an orange to stoop to such lengths
-But let's play along and say that he did get jealous. One of those very rare times it happens. He knows he doesn't have to do much to make the offender leave, all he has to do is stand there
-And stare.
-And stare..
-And stare...
-He's got that resting angry face so he just has to stand behind you and exist to make people leave you alone. It's kinda funny to think about it. He'll gently take your hand and leave after that
-Why be around people when you two can be locked away in a quite room with a good book?
Engineer:
-Again, not a jealous person. But he does have his moments sometimes
-He's a confident boy and knows you wouldn't do anything. Plus have you seen him? He's an intelligent man, got such a nice voice and accent, and can build a machine to keep you safe
-When he jealous, he's passive aggressive. He doesn't like to be hostile, especially so up front, so he'll do little things to help get his point across
(Would give examples but I'm not passive agressive, I'm just aggressive, oops)
-He'd come up to you, slide an arm around you, give you a kiss on the cheek, and say how he was looking for ya while side eyeing the offender
-THAT MAN COULD USE HIS VOICE TO SEDUCE YOU ALL OVER AGAIN, FIGHT ME
-Weirdly enough, I can see him as someone who will look into the offender, find all the person's info and hand it over to Medic, basically saying "Here's someone you can harvest organs from. Have fun, Pookie."
-Then Medic and Engie proceed to make out and get married. The end
Medic:
-Medic's an interesting fellow. I feel like he's like Pyro where it all depends on his mood. Somdays, he doesn't give a shit, and other days, HE'S FUMING
-He will NOT tolerate the disrespect >:(
-Cue sassy Medic. This man will verbally murder a bitch and I'm here for it
-Will get "handsy" with you (he'll just throw himself on top of you, maybe even make you hold him bridal style if you're strong enough)
-Will be loving all over you while verbally berating the offender. Everything is getting called out. EVERYTHING. He wants to ensure his point is made
-Buuuut, this can also be a chance to score some fresh, new organs. He's always in the market for that stuff so he can easily kidnap the offender and harvest the goods. And no, you can't talk him out of it. Once his mind is made up, nothing can stop him
Sniper:
-Oh my poor baby boy. Where do I even begin with you?
-Sniper can't help but get so jealous so easily. He's never been one to have relationships with people so when he is in one, he gets so insecure at times
-Worries he's not good enough at times. He know he's a "quirky" individual, so he worries you'll want to be with someone who's more "normal"
-Will stand nearby, giving the offender dirty looks. They can feel the daggers that Sniper is giving them, it's enough to make them leave
-Afterwards, he'll pull you away from everyone and be all over you
-While Demo needs verbal reassurance, Sniper needs physical reassurance. So please love on him and tell him it's gonna be okay and that you love him and only him
-But I can also see him needing to prove that he's better than any guy through "fun" means (Medic would too but I forgot to add it. They both horny jealous people)
Spy:
-Again, not a jealous person, and rightfully so
-We all know how suave this man is. He can pull anyone and everyone without even trying
-But I'm sure even Spy has his own moments when he feels a slight bit of jealousy
- He'd be so pissy with the offender. Like, fuck you, pal. That's MY partner
-Welp, time to go over there and seduce you all over again, which isn't hard for him to do. He's got that magic in him, ya know? He;s a man who knows what words to say and what moves to make. He'd make the offender jealous that they couldn't be with Spy
which is worse: d20 tumblr or d20 twitter?
this is such a funny question. frankly I prefer talking with my existing friends over discord over either of them but here's a breakdown of my experience with them
d20 tumblr
feels like a more isolating experience because of the way tumblr is set up in general as a platform. I follow relatively few people here, so all my interactions are from people engaging with my art (love you mwah) or asking me questions. nearly every time I go into a d20 related tag I regret it
I think frankly I disagree with 90% of the opinions on d20 here but because I don't have to see it I can just post my art and go
feels relatively static like there's not a good way to get everyone talking about a specific transformative fandom thing instead of only what's happening in canon because it's a looser more disconnected community
allows for longer posts and the search system on my own blog is great though. I love directing people to go through my tags or archived art
d20 twitter
incredibly, astonishingly, bad at recognizing jokes for people who are fans of a comedy show
way easier to interact with people which means most of the friends I make are from d20twt...
very easy to get everyone talking about one specific thing (ie fhsonas) because of how interactive Twitter is as a platform and how quickly word spreads
downside of this^ is that every time I express an opinion someone disagrees with they tend to assume that this is a majority opinion rather than like, 3-4 popular gay asian artists speaking their mind? when I complained about fhjy 18 battle on here I got interesting and thoughtful reblogs and everyone kept it respectful meanwhile on twitter people started making vaguetweets about how people who hated the episode were morons. stuff like us joking that oisin's grandma's whole mahjong group got murked getting 200 likes VS people directly shitting on us getting 1.7k likes and people going "wait... people are mad about oisins grandma for REAL?! she was going to kill people !!" getting 2k likes. clearly there is some sort of strange authority people put on your words whether or not you're actually just trying to have fun with your friends
I did talk about this more on twitter but I am not a fan of the CRitterfication of d20twt either. feels like much of the fandom is now watching because they're megafans of the cast rather than for the story which leads to some really big toxic positivity bias and the implication that criticism of the show == direct attack on the crew and therefore on THEM because parasocial attachment. I don't think it helps that for a majority of them d20 is their first big fandom experience aside from like... kpop or tswift because they have not developed a lot of the detachment from canon + not being parasocial + ignoring opinions you don't like if they're not directly addressed at you mechanisms that people who've been around have. sorry I'm not trying to fandom elder or whatever here I'm 21 years old but I think it's incredibly hard for me to interact with people whose entire understanding of canon depend on siobhan thompson's opinions like this
tldr;
d20twt has way less reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. better for making friends. I interact almost entirely with 30-40 of my artist friends. (my) d20tumblr experience is more chill and feels like I'm doing a seminar and people come up to ask me questions afterward. more isolating but easier to do my own thing. I do recognize and am fond of a lot of you but I've made one (1) entire friend who I can talk to off platform and not just see on the dash/my notes and that's just the nature of how tumblr works as a platform (it's terrible for conversations)
No one like him
Jimin is one of a kind it has to be said.
This boy will go places beyond the BTS group and fame. His humility, amazing work ethic, respect, love, and compassion for other beings will carry him to great heights.
To army and some Jikookers who always want to portray him as the weak damsel in distress, if what he has achieved over the past 10 years of his carrier with all the set backs on the roads was not enough to open your eyes, I hope this military service ordeal will finally let you see the light.
Take the time and learn to know Jimin, put aside the fanfics depictions of him, the assigned roles bighit gave each member and your own fantasies and simply learn to know Park Jimin the man.
Remove your glass tainted with bias and then it would not come as a surprise to you that
He had only 6 months of training, was not given vocal lessons by the agency, yet landed two of the most important roles in the group
The fandom always believed that out of all the members he would be the one to suffer the most through chapter 2 yet he ended up being the 1st to have a historical #1 BB100 with no major push from the compagny and the only one to bag 2 of the biggest luxury houses on the planet.
A lot of people assumed that JK and him opted for the military buddy system because Jimin needed JK support more than the other way around and were worried of how Jimin would manage in the military. Yet he is the one who came 1st after training.
Learn to know Park Jimin so that events like those mentioned above will no longer come as a surprise to you.
The world we live in tends to hype and give credit to those who talk too much even if deep down they don't pull through. If that is what you expect of Jimin then it is clear that you will always misundertand him.
He rather let his actions speak for him and even when he ends up coming out at the top guess what he does? He uplifts others who did not make it instead of having the focus be on his success.
If you were to read the letter he wrote out of ms in the void you would think that JK and other members had performed better than him. But knowing JM the moment I saw the letter he wrote to us I knew the letter was also meant for JK. To me it was a way to console him. To tell him you did well even if you did not come first. So I knew that the story about JK being first and JM second had to be false. And not even a day later I was proven right.
This time Jimin dad pulled through with the "receipt" but it is not everytime that we will be able to have the backstories of what really happened ( specially when bighit and their twisted agenda is involved). So take the time and learn to understand Jimin when he speaks to us.
While the boys are in the MS take the time to go through old content and open your mind to get to know each one of them for who they really are to the extent that it is possible of course.
Anyway I am mostly neutral to the military enlistment ordeal but of course as a Jimin fan I am happy that he is doing well so far.
It seems appealing, but until I was gifted a Steamdeck recently I couldn't play it and it's still quite expensive. Generally though I do prefer FPSs.
lmao right
1) A few people get called out for genuinely, undeniably heinous behavior, with receipts showing exactly what they're purported to show, loud and clear. Maybe they molested kids, maybe they started a cult, maybe it turned out that all their social justice talk was a smokescreen for hate recruiting, maybe they'd been catfishing for clout and profit, maybe they'd been trawling the site the callout is on for people to scam and abuse, maybe it's even more than one of the above. Whatever it is, it's unequivocally bad and SOMETHING has to be done and the systems at hand have sweet fuckall TO do about it, so a warning to the community it is! 1.5) People are primed to believe, when they see a callout post, that yes, what this person did was AWFUL. 2) People seeing that this works - and often genuinely but incorrectly believing that they have another equally bad case on their hands - start posting callouts about shit like friend drama (that wasn't a fight, it was ABUSE) or media taste (I heard he watched Dragon Maid, PEDO ALERT!!!) or consensual kinks (can you BELIEVE she misgendered another girl who asked her to??? Disgusting!). Most but not all of these target marginalized people, because of course it's easier to make a mountain of a molehill when people have a preexisting bias to believe it's a mountain (though contrary to popular current belief, it's usually not one specific group in particular). 3) People start fighting over the utility of callouts - some people believe these bits of nonevidence are TOTALLY proof of wrongdoing, others start to get alarm fatigued because surprise surprise, it's WAY harder to find people who are actually stealing and selling human bones, or lying about being HIV+ sex trafficking survivors for discourse cred, or starting entire cult houses, than it is to find...people who aren't perfect friends 100% of the time, or who like media that squicks you out; a few people still manage to fall somewhere in between. 4) Callouts fall off in frequency until someone does something SO heinous as to return us to step 1. I feel like we're kinda between steps 3 and 4 here, as a site at large - which, ironically, makes me all that much more suspicious when someone highlights a specific group as being the ONLY one targeted and harmed by fake callouts.
Eyyup.
Also, even callout posts that have legitimate grievances tend to do the Wendigoon thing where it's frontloaded with ridiculous bullshit before it gets to "also, this person murdered twelve women from 1999 to 2004." Like, why did I hear about how Vivziepop using voodoo aesthetic risked her staff being haunted to death by spirits before I heard she thinks non-binary people are faking being trans for attention?
I went into a restaurant to order some takeout while Original Mall Anon waited in the car, and when I went to get our sodas, there were these three preppy girls just...congregating there, taking up the space long after they'd finished getting their own, blocking anyone else from getting their drinks without asking them to move and, I shit you not, talking about buying shit from Hollister. Half of me, in the present, was like "okay. They're younger than me. I shouldn't be MEAN. This is a minor rudeness, I don't need to make a whole Thing of it." Half of me was violently removed from my body and de-aged to 15 because what the fuck, I was standing there, dark clothes, dyed hair, Hot Topic bag in hand, being treated like an annoying nonentity by a bunch of preppy girls who were acting like they fuckin owned the place, that was something I thought wasn't supposed to HAPPEN outside of high school and yet here I was, uh, catching up on missed experiences to a level I REALLY didn't expect to happen at a Wingstop.
God how I want some Wingstop. I love every part of this, anon. Perhaps your mall is truly unteathered from time and space.
It's completely mindless harassment without any real point and if they show up on one of your posts you should report them.
Hell yes.
Well, that's fucking stupid.
From running these, does it seem like older Pokemon tend to be more popular versus newer ones, or is it any pokemons game? I feel like I tend to see older 'mons winning in matchups against newer ones the majority of the time, but that might be some sort of confirmation bias on my end.
Whew ok! Sorry this took me so long to reply to. This kinda caught me right at the start of the busy period, and I didn't want to give it a half-assed answer, especially because I wasn't really super sure if I was seeing any notable trends. (Most of the time I dedicate to maintaining this event is spent setting things up instead of reviewing data!)
Here are some rough and probably not precisely accurate numbers:
For my health I don't have the time to write out proper descriptions, so hopefully my discussion will be helpful enough, especially because it can be fairly easy to draw some inaccurate conclusions from this specifically because it uses a lot of hard numbers vs ratios.
You can find that down here ⬇ (readmored for scrollability)
First table:
Gen 2 and Gen 7 (!) are performing the strongest overall. Gen 9 and Gen 5 (!!) are performing the most poorly. I figure Gen 9 isn't faring too well for a multitude of reasons -- most notably, I think, people haven't really had time to grow attached to these guys yet. To speculate on Gen 5, I have a few theories. Gen 5 introduced a lot of new Pokemon, interest gets spread out (though I am surprised that age-group nostalgia isn't helping it more along here...). If I recall correctly, a lot of the designs were also quite heavily critiqued, though I've never paid much attention to that sort of commentary.
I'm honestly surprised that Gen 1 is that close to even, but then I don't think it helps that a lot of the less popular designs keep popping up to be repeatedly swept... The data set isn't large enough to avoid being easily influenced by various sub-tournaments haha.
Second table:
This one looks at each generation and how it compares to matches where it was paired with older generations. Earlier generation results are less helpful because, for instance, Gen 2 only has to contend with Gen 1, but Gen 8 has to contend with Gens 1-7... I wasn't sure how to break this up more properly, and I've already spent so much time on this 😅 I could probably figure it out with time but I don't want to keep this ask on hold for like 3 more months. I think it's interesting to see how notably well Gen 7 performs here, like it has a notable number of wins though it's dealing with 6 entire generations.
Anyway, more red in the ratios (basically, more instances where Pokemon of a given generation lost to older gens more than they won) supports the hypothesis.
Third table:
Basically the opposite of the above. More green means more generations that fared better against the generations after it. Gen 5 is the only one who doesn't have this, but it's even. It's won as many Gen 6-9 polls as it's lost
Gen 8 being the strongest here is a little funny, but it just means that Gen 8 has been performing super well when specifically placed in contrast to Gen 9. The fact that there are so few polls in this category probably is why the ratio can get so high at all though.
Generation Gap Average:
This one's a bit hard for me to explain but it basically is concerned with how much the earliest generations perform against the latest generations, but close-generation matches take a lot of weight out of the end result. Basically though a smaller number means that the Generations aren't AS stratified. There's enough love for newer Gens vs older ones. This number hovered much closer to 1 for most of the data gathering.
Idk if this is helpful, but here's the formula:
=AVERAGE(ARRAYFORMULA(IF(B2:B-A2:A<>0, B2:B-A2:A,)))
The A col lists the winners and the losers are in B, so it's literally just averaging the difference between the winner and the loser. The best conclusion we can draw from this is that there is a preference toward older generations. If there was a preference toward newer ones, the number would be negative.
Old/New:
Literally just the number of older generation wins divided by newer generation wins, which you can see right next to that, so yeah older Gens, relative to the other Gen in the poll, have quite a bit of a lead.
Other notes:
In more recent polls, voting is actually skewing more toward later generations, but at the start, which notably voted on starters, voting was HEAVILY skewed toward older generations vs newer ones. It was unfortunately because I noticed this that I ended up having to collect data from all the (relevant) polls because those trends pretty strongly impacted the results...
Anyway! I don't feel confident to make any conclusions outright, but now at least we have an idea of what the numbers look like right now! Lots can be gleaned from this.
#inquiries#apologies if i wrote something that doesn't make like . syntactical sense. i can't process words very well right now#so i can't reliably proof my own writing. rip.#on account of. having a truly shamefully small amount of sleep over the past hm. i guess week at this point
💫𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 2023💫
2023 has been a year to say the least so lets get into this 😂. As usual this is in no particular order cause I cant handle putting these into a proper order.
𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬:
1. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐂𝐚𝐟𝐞 (2022).
I watched this on a whim and boy am I glad I did. The female lead is so unhinged but in the best way and our main guy is so in love with her I cant. Literally this drama was such a fun time and everything connected together so well. Just watch this drama pls.
2. 𝐁𝐨 𝐑𝐚! 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐡 {𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞} (2023).
Yoo In Na shines and I love the character growth that both the leads go through, everything that happens makes sense and it really does show that working on yourself isnt a linear process. There will be set backs but you can over come them. I tend to not care for side couples but I loved all of them in this, they were just hilarious or adorable.
3. 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧 (2023).
I wasnt going to watch this drama but thankfully instagram reels made me interested enough to give this a chance. I love all 4 of the leads, they are my babies and they deserve all the happiness in the world.
4. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐅𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 (2023).
This was such a cute, fun drama. I didnt expect to love it as much as I did, the family dynamics, friendships, everything was so well done and the 2 couples were the cutest.
5. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 (2023).
Literally Instagram reels made me watch this and I do not regret it. The melodrama, romance, revenge, plot twists... Everything was such a wild ride, I recommend that everyone watches it.
𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐍𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬:
1. 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫 ~ 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧.
The irony, I always said that I wouldnt stan a group with more than 7 members 😂. Honestly I was just seeing too many funny reels about SVT and then I watched the Game Caterers videos without even knowing all of their names and Super was everywhere that I just fell into the rabbit hole that is Seventeen.
2. 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 ~ 𝐉𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐨.
My bias came and she ate. I love this song and it showed in my top 2023 songs its at number 6... The top 5 are all Taylor obviously.
3. 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 ~ 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐨𝐤.
He came and took over the world. Nothing more to say about that.
4. 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐦 ~ 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐧.
Yall need to stop sleeping on Enhas japanese discography. This song is just so sweet and wonderful. I cant with it.
5. 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 ~ 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐦.
I just loved this whole song and the album too. Next LSF comeback when?!.
𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬:
So last time I only had the vault tracks but Speak Now was the album that made me a swiftie so not limiting myself to just the vault tracks this time.
1. 𝐇𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝.
This is my absolute favourite song. It is just such a masterpiece and can be related to in any situation.
2. 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝.
I love this song so much, I have a one shot of the same name 😂.
3. 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐅𝐥𝐲.
Im a hopeless romantic okay.
4. 𝐈𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐰.
Do I even need to explain myself with this.
5. 𝐒𝐥𝐮𝐭!.
Most definitely not what I was expecting but I love it so much.
5 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝:
1. Bestie got married, shes happy and Im happy for her. It was a proper desi wedding and it was good fun.
2. I FINALLY graduated from University😂. Only took me like 5 years, one failed attempt and repeating my third year.
3. Made some great friends from the school I worked at, we bonded over how messed up the school we worked at is.
4. Managed to travel and have such great experiences.
5. Im happy with the fanfics I wrote this year. Still shocked that people actually read and enjoy the stuff I write but Im immensely grateful for all the love and support I get.
If you could change one thing that happened in yttd what would it be
hmmm. it depends, really?
if we're speaking about the main yttd game, not including extra media like ytts or the minisodes, i would've definitely liked to adjust the way that chapter 3-1 played out! a lot of people i've spoken with about chapter three (so far) were let down by how simultaneously fast-paced yet sluggish the chapter felt, and i tend to agree.
it's odd, considering it has about the same amount of new characters we were introduced to in ch1-1 - though i believe that, despite also following the exploration period, ch3-1 primarily struggles with 1) the player's already attached to the established cast (an unfortunate inevitable); 2) having little downtime for group discussion (which is what ch2 had done really well for the survivors); 3) the constraints of the chapter limit being 3.
that last note is a small thing all things considered, but it'd make sense for ch3 to culminate in the banquet considering the group discussion - and it'd be an interesting way to shake up the 'formula' we used to know it as! not only are people dying mid-discussion, but it's not reliant on cards... rather, most control has been shifted into the participants' hands. it gives them an active role rather than adapting to the cards they've been dealt -- but that's far off! my main idea with this is that it would've given the new characters slightly more time to breathe.
(now - if we're discussing extra content... i have my issues with sei's inclusion in the minisodes & lack of any allusion within the base game, or the ytts events with nao & sara, or even how aggressive kurumada's made to be while being the only visibly brown character (although i recognize that, with any other character, this is simply how nankidai writes arcs... it's just unfortunate that he stands out so much due to the, hopefully unintentional, bias))
BUT! i digress! if we're removing the critiquing lens, and move to a more personal option... i would've liked to see kanna spend more time with nao leading up to the second main game. they're both people who took the loss of an older supporting figure and grew stronger from it, and it'd be nice to at least see them interact at times in the main lobby... not only for the morbid irony of gashu shifting kanna's trade to nao, but also to provide proof kanna was a bridge between shin and the group - particularly for when nao realizes she can go to shin! in a sense, she'd end up mirroring joe's role as a sara's chosen participant, in how they bring the group together :'D
#i've been thinking abt kanna & nao a LOT i have like. two different wips w them but aegehaha neither here nor there#hope this is coherent? :'D#ask#anonymous#yttdposting
Bias Tag Game
Tagged by: @dive-in-the-blue !
Thanks so much for tagging me! This was really fun! I think anyone I would tag has already been tagged, so I'll leave it without!
Rules: pick 10 of your biases (or your biases and then fill in with idols you like) and order them 1-10, then answer the questions. Try not to look at the questions before you make your list.
Bias List:
1) Hongjoong (ATEEZ)
2) Taemin (SHINee/solo)
3) Kai (EXO/solo)
4) Soobin (TXT)
5) Han (Stray Kids)
6) Hoshi (Seventeen)
7) V (BTS)
8) Joohoney (Monsta X)
9) Sunwoo (The Boyz)
10) Mujin (Kingdom)
Q: Between 5 and 7, who did you bias first?
1) V, hands down, no question. Like a lot of people, i got into kpop through BTS. I watched the dynamite MV as a sad, sad college student in 2020, saw him with his lovely honey blond hair and green suit, and was gone.
Q: Between 2 and 6, who are you more attached to?
2) Taemin. I'm honestly not really *attached* to either him or Hoshi, but I'm genuinely so fond of SHINee and I love his solo work so much.
Q: Who would you rather spend a day with 1 or 3, and what would you do?
3) I guess I have to pick Hongjoong bc Kai isn't currently available 🥲 but like, in this fictional hypothetical world it'd still probably be hongjoong bc I am also an art person and I feel like he'd be fun to window shop with or take to an art store.
Q: What's your favorite physical feature about 9?
4) I really like how expressive Sunwoo is. I know thats not really a physical feature, but I don't think I have one? I tend to gravitate towards performers and he's really really good.
Q: What is your favorite thing about 6's personality?
5) Hoshi's such a dedicated dancer/performer. I recently watched the Steezy dancers react to the Spider dance practice and they were talking about all the details he captures and I love that. He's also a certified weird guy, which is also very fun 😄
Q: If you could tell 8 anything you wanted, what would you say?
6) With Joohoney, probably just that I think he's a very cool performer. Kind of repeating myself but like, I don't even know what else I'd say 😄
Q: Between 1 and 2, whose closet would you steal?
7) Hongjoong vs Taemin doesn't seem fair 😄 but like, again, it's gotta be hongjoong. I mean, I already got my ears double pierced bc of him soooooo 😄
I want what he has
Q: What is a style do you want to see 3 try?
8) Uuuhhhhhh, I personally think Kai looks good in like the clean cut, simple suiting and like fancy fashion magazine stuff, but I think it'd be fun to see more sparkle! And nail polish, but I think literally everyone should wear nail polish.
Like more of this, I think it's very fun
Q: Between 4 and 5, who are you closer to in height?
9) Han. I don't even know how tall he is but I *know* Soobin is much taller than me.
Q: Between 9 and 10, whose music do you like best?
10) Mujin and Kingdom. TBZ are one of those groups where what I like from them, I really really like, but I'm pretty middleground about a lot of their discography. I find Kingdom's concept and sound so different and cool. Ascension and Long Live the King are the loves of my life. I can't wait to see them in September!
#this was so fun please tag me again!#i wanted to pick non stage looks for hongjoong - even tho i know some of them are still styled#my stuff#my post#digital scrapbook#just my two cents#talkin about music#tag game
for kpop ask game: 1 2 and 6
this turned out to be a long and pretty personal answer so keep reading at your own risk
1. How did you first get into K-Pop?
this is actually interesting!! :D because the first time i got interested in kpop was back in 2016 (i remember because bts's 'blood sweat and tears' just came out). i just kept hearing about it and one day decided to check it out, which in my case meant watching like four bts's MVs (because they were the only band i had any idea about) and deciding that kpop is really fun and i want to get into it. but i ultimately failed to - i just couldn't understand how any of this worked and i had no idea how to discover new bands to fall in love with other than type 'kpop girl groups' into google (which i did and watched red velvet's 'rookie' as a result; i really didn't enjoy that MV and that significantly lowered my spirits (which might've not been the case if i knew that kpop groups often change their concept and sound from comeback to comeback; but i didn't even know what a comeback was)). i did somehow find a group i liked (and i even vividly remember one of their MVs but i can't remember their name to save my life so i might never rediscover them) but sadly the fact that i didn't understand how the hell this whole kpop thing worked really got to me back then and i ended up losing interest because it was just too difficult to enjoy (and me not understanding english at the time didn't help).
this time around howeverrrrr i'm much less of a control freak and more patient and much better at research, so i feel pretty comfortable!! what sparked the interest this time was me befriending a girl who turned out to be a blink and at some point i just asked her for some kpop recommendations out of curiosity. and the thing is, i never Actually lost interest, it just kinda went dormant - i tended to instantly like people more if i learned they liked kpop, i liked seeing kpop stans pfps on social media, i was excited for bts to become POPULAR popular in the west, and i even went in the reply sections of very popular tweets to watch random fancams on purpose just because i really enjoyed this type of content (mainly because i love choreography). but the point of no-return was when one of my new friend's recommendations turned out to be i-dle's 'hann' and i fell in love. with the sound, then with the visuals (when i watched the MV after just listening to it), then with the lyrics (when i watched again with the subtitles). they just had everything. and from then on i had no choice but to become a full kpop stan
2. Who is your ultimate bias, and why do you love them?
probably soyeon? i think if i had one chance in my life to do a fansign with an idol, i would choose her. she just has such a way of creating music and concepts and stories that seem very personal but also strongly resonate with me and i am so grateful for them. i really needed her in my life
it also just seems to me that she really tries to be a good person and has this as a priority. she's a notoriously strict producer but she always tries her best to not actually hurt anyone. which doesn't sound that impressive but i really think her approach to this says a lot about her because she's very passionate and precise about her job and it's very easy to choose to sacrifice others' comfort when you're given the power to do so
i just think she's a genius and a good human being and she brings me so much joy
6. What's your favorite K-Pop music video, and why?
i have many music videos i have feelings for but this has to be i-dle's 'oh my god'. it's just so hard to do better than this one
i absolutely read the song itself as being about queer love because that what makes the most sense for me (and you have to do quite a bit of mental gymnastics to Not read it like that in my opinion) and while the MV is less explicit in that way, it's still Quite Gay
and the horror-ish, religion-esque aesthetics of it are so up my alley. and it's just so beautiful in general
and This minnie
and This soojin
i just love everything about it
#i am exhausted#but i think this response turned out okay#i hope some of you will find it interesting<3 i love reading about experiences of others so i really tried to not phone it in with this#i-dle#somehow i only talked about them in this one but i know it's not gonna be the case for the next post for the ask game#ask game#mine#personal
Hello, I’m curious about what this post means?
https://www.tumblr.com/system-of-a-feather/718445430628859904/ok-people-equating-the-theory-of-structural
If you don’t mind explaining, that is! Aren’t they both scientific theories? /gen
(I got to sleep in today weekends are great ;w; *is in a better mood and has energy to explain some to someone genuinely asking since this is a thing that hurts me about the internet and how they talk about science*)
"Aren’t they both scientific theories?"
Yes, but only in the way that you can say that apples and tomatos are both fruit (true) and should be put in a fruit salad (debatable by which study you go to and the context in which you discuss it) - or that fish and Chordata are both existing things (for those that don't know either through school or memes, "fish" don't exist claudistically / in taxonomy, they are a polyphylic group)
.... while I'm doing comparisons, I think its actually fair to say that its more inaccurate than comparing apples to oranges - its comparing apples and tomatos - but I digress that's just a distracting "heh" I thought of XD
Putting the analogies aside and explaining it properly - they are both "scientific" in the sense that they are both following and part of the very very very very broad term of "science". With that being said, science in practice and when understanding research - when talked about in such a general way - is much more an ideal and a concept like Bushido Code than it is an actual like.... Facts TM and Truths TM about the world.
When we talk about stuff like the theory of evolution, gravity, the scientific theories we easily and frequently label as "basically as close as you can get to fact" we are almost always talking about hard sciences such as biology, chemistry, physics - sciences that have a relatively simple / easy time (relatively) in terms of research design, validity, and verifying data. Hard sciences (again, relatively speaking) tend to collect and base their theories on unchangable, (relatively) simple functions of systems that they are investigating, and their data (relatively) are hard and firm as they are directly measuring an aspect of the system they are investigating and (comparatively) the concern on concept, criterion, face, predictive, external, internal, (etc) validity is not really as significant. The things that hard sciences are investigating are far more "unchanging rules of the world base in hard to accidentally or intentionally spoof measurements" than soft sciences.
Psychology - a soft science - doesn't (often) work on measuring hard and (relatively) unchangeable measures and is often measuring really large scale topics that aren't even really properly sure even 1) exists 2) if it is genuinely even a single thing or an emergent property (as in it comes out through the means of many other things interacting but on its own is not really a 'thing').
Because the measures are not (often) hard measures, they are often subject to ambiguity, bias, interpretation, and questions of how valid of a measure it even is (which isn't a "yes or no" thing, because you very very rarely have a perfectly valid measure in psychology - it is a lot more of how much you are willing to accept it as a decent enough of a measure).
Because measures are measuring things we don't even have a firm concept of ("things falling" for gravity VS consciousness??? what??? is??? it???), the very relation of the measure to whatever the researcher is trying to study and how they understand it has to be taken into account as well. (In the research community of DEDICATED researchers on memory (also often considered one of the more harder sciences in the soft science psychology) while starting to get to an agreement on it - can't even agree on what "memory" and "forgetting" is despite it being the heart of their main dedicated study. Read the discussion on decay vs retrieval)
Because of BOTH of those, psychology is almost ALWAYS up for debate within research, professional, and academic environments. There is always something wrong with someone's research design, variable measurement, analysis method, concept validity, or what the hell they are approaching shit with. (for example, some people in the field of memory don't believe you can retrieve repressed memories because there have been numerous studies that shows that in a research lab they could not get any adult and-not-stressed individuals to intentionally forget an elephant and show evidence of recalling it later within implicit, explicit, long term, or short term memory; I'm sure I don't need to explain why while this is "good evidence" and "science", that its fucking STUPID.) Even the best and most backed ideas in psychology - even in the ones that border closer to neuropsychology - are always genuinely up to debate within the research community.
Additionally, when we talk about biology, chemistry, physics, etc we are talking about fields of science that have existed for millennia (arguably biology has been around since humans have had society with people trying to understand the human body and animals around through what can be considered early scientific means) and at worst centuries (modern chemistry which is around the 1700s or 1800s). Psychology (which is also a large group and not a monolith) has only really been making significant scientific advancements in the tail end of the 1800s and mainly in the early 1900s which, when combined with the issue above makes for an entirely different way you have to approach how you talk about "theories". This is just a sheer numbers game in terms of how long some of these theories have been genuinely considered and challenged by more individuals and also by letting the research fields grow properly.
That is all generally speaking in regards to PSYCHOLOGY. If we are talking about developmental psychopathology and clinical psychology (which would probably be the best specific fields to label the claims the ToSD makes) we have to keep in mind that we are operating in a field that has soft measurements, complex and possibly non-existent concepts they are measuring, and - if we are being real - people who actually are interested in helping and caring for mentally ill people rather than putting them in a hell asylum for debatably give or take a century. A good number of the people who started genuinely giving an interest in actually treating and understanding (with good intent) the mind of mentally ill people could still be alive today. Additionally, its a field that compared to other fields is relatively small in the workforce of people interested in exploring it. Then you have to pull it down to the specifications of dissociation and trauma disorders in those areas and you have that even more so + that the concept of "what is DID" is a WHOLE other thing and that one I won't explain on cause I am in the dunning kruger pit of despair of how that works and I refuse to act like I know what the fuck is going on there and am ok staying in my lane until I resume my education and talk to more experienced people in the field with my 5000 questions.
I had something more to say on this but I lost my train of thought and flow of this specific one cause my bird distracted me and I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to remember it and I'm just gonna give up on picking up that train of thought because even if I do I think itll be incoherent with what I wrote above - but they are really non-comparable.
They both use the word "theory" in a similar manner, but it's like grabbing an American and a British person and saying "chips" or "football". You will get a "snack probably made potatoes" but you will very likely not get the same thing because you have to take into consideration what subset of english / the culture around the english word "chips". You will get a game where multiple people play against eachother using a ball to get points on a board - but you will absolutely not be able to get an American team of football players and British football players on a field to play a cohesive game against each other because you have to take into consideration what subset of english / the culture around the english word "chips".
You can talk about apples and tomatos like they are fruits, but when you breakdown what a "fruit" is for each of those. Apples are fruits in almost every field afaik. Tomatos - while fruits - are not fruits in more softer / artistic fields like culinary, and that is where you have to understand the context of the field you are specifically talking about to understand that on a professional level you REALLY should not put a tomato into a fruit salad.
You can talk about fish as a concept as something that obviously exists and that there is research obviously there proving that fish are physically there and an existing phenomenon - but you would be laughed at to state that there is hard scientific proof that fish exist JUST as much as there is hard scientific proof that the Class Chordata exists because 1) what the fuck is a "fish" defined as is up to debate 2) there is a lot of evidence that would suggest that trying to group something as a "fish" is hard to do and absurd.
It's an issue of understanding the context of the term "theory" in respect to the field it is in. It's about understanding that while "theories" are both the "same" thing, the practical application and specific interpretations of the term in their respective fields are drastically different even by the people who are studying it for a living. It's an issue of understanding that even within the same field, the subfields have different context and approaches and guidelines for research that has them coming to different conclusion. It's an issue of understanding that one field is trying to understand often intangible and blurry concepts BY DESIGN (as it is impractical to try to understand shit like DID to the atomic level) and another is operating in investigating a harder and more concrete concept.
You can go into physics, chemistry, and biology and there are concepts you will find that no researcher would really question (unless they are in the really innovative end where they go so deep that the specifics of those are questioned). You can't do that for psychology - and for a lot of the things you think you can for psychology - I would probably be willing to bet you that there is a valid research opposition. You can do that even less for developmental psychopathology and clinical psychology, and even less for dissociation and trauma and that is solely because dissociation and trauma research is dependent on other sub fields like memory, consciousness, identity, etc that are SUPER not established. If researchers can't agree what MEMORY and FORGETTING is; if researchers can't agree if CONSCIOUSNESS even EXISTS; if researchers are clueless as to what the fuck identity is and how the brain generates it - then who the fuck are we to say we know fuck all about DID (which requires all three for those combined) to the same level we understand gravity or evolution.
The theory of structural dissociation is far more a practice-orientated theory to help in the practical immediate because currently the field is too young and confused to have a genuine "this is KNOWN scientifically" consensus - and the ToSD works pretty well for practical uses but you have to acknowledge that it only does so by ignoring five bajillion holes and assumptions it has to make to work. It's laughable to compare something that is a practice-focused theory to something that is a hard dedicated 'universal truth' seeking theory like gravity.
(Which is not to say it is invalid or wrong or anything, see the above conversation on validity in psychology, but that you have to take it with a grain of salt understanding that it is assuming things about memory, consciousness, identity, etc that we REALLY don't even know exists; and this is a GOOD and FAIR trade off because the intent is for practicality and treatment for people that are clearly dealing with SOMETHING rather than a genuine question of what does and does not exist because in clinical psychology there is very very little point in trying to prove something exists because the goal is to TREAT and find ways to help people with whatever it is they are dealing with. You are expected to do some handwaves and generalize concepts for the sake of practicality and application, its just that you have to understand that you are choosing to lower its reliability and validity in name of practicality and application)
-Riku
-----
Post cut comments and thoughts / points that came into my head that I wanted to put in but never got the opportunity.
Another thing worth considering, if I told you that for five billion dollars, I needed you to get me a list of every scientist who helped develop and found evidence supporting gravity OR every scientist who helped develop and found evidence supporting ToSD - which would you do? It'd be a fucking pain in the ass because ToSD is decently supported by a number of individuals, but god hell no would I waste my time even trying with gravity. The list would be larger by an order of multitudes.
I always tell my friends that the field of psychological research is literally just professional discourse / syscourse. Everyone is chronically bitching at each other under their breaths and calling each other stupid and nitpicking the other people's small words and arguments in favor of their theory - and the thing is? They ALL are scientifically valid arguments because in psychology we don't know SHIT. In actual psychological research discourse it's a whole bunch of people slamming papers on the table and going "SEE. I'm right" and then someone picking up their paper and going "Actually your [insert type of validity and research design and concept] is stupid lol" and then slamming another study that accounts for it and supports their argument and then the first guy doing it BACK at him. Thats how the field of psychology works and its so fucking funny and amazing and thats what I LOVE about it. Its PROFESSIONAL discourse and some of the people in the field are the most fucking SNARKY and STUBBORN bitches in how they talk about other researcher's opinions in private but do their best to respect them in public and professionally because they DO respect their role and that their approach is still not only scientifically sound, but also invaluable to the accurate development and understanding of the concept at hand. They WANT to be right and to hold onto their opinion because they feel they are right so there is always this stubborn snark - but there is an agreed and shared mutual understanding that we all are just trying to get to the truth of an absurdly complex and possibly not even real topic and that back and forth is VITAL lifeblood to it.
In regards to #2, its one of the reasons I try to avoid any serious syscourse cause every time I see people saying things are "science" they are usually jsut throwing one psychological research paper or literature review down (maybe 5 if they are actually better at discussing it) and saying "these are FACTS" when - in the field of psychology and research - that is honestly only slightly better than just linking someone else's blog post as evidence. Yeah its more professional and actually based on data and research so its better than someone just saying "its real" but its hardly "facts" like people like to act like they are
This isn't a black and white issue where it either "is facts" or it is "invalid and non scientific" which is the main thing I really want to make sure is clear. We are NOT anti-ToSD but we are anti-"calling things facts when they arent". ToSD is the best that we know currently and it is incredibly helpful in reflecting generalized understandings of a vague concept and we can talk about things in "mosts" and "currently" but we absolutely can't be sitting here stating anything in absolutes because when people say "it just a theory" in THIS case, they are honestly probably more right than wrong because unlike gravity and evolution, ToSD does not have nearly enough support to live up to the standards and comparison of Gravity and Evolution - which is not bad or wrong - it's by design and serves its purpose, it just isn't made to be used Like That.
Hello friend! I hope you’re having a wonderful day 💚 1, 10, 23, and 40 (your choice of bias) for the bias game!
Hi friend!!! I am, thank you <3 <3
1. Who do you most want to take care of?
I don't want to take care of any of them lmao they're full grown men. but like if all my biases were sick and I was able to bring them soup I'd want to take it to Younghoon I think
10. Is there a specific position (what they do or age) your biases tend to be? (Rapper, singer, dancer, leader, older in the group, younger, maknaes, etc.)
Rappers my beloved!!!!! Leaders my beloved!!!!!! Rapper-Leaders my belovedest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
23. Any particular clips or pics that you find comforting of a bias?
This Hwanwoong, This Bang Chan, This E-Chan, This Lee Know, Jooyeon's vocals!!!
40. Express how much they mean to you no limit ramble as much as you want (Send a group or random choice)
It's all just! so fun!! It's not really any deeper than that, I guess. Do I get emotional about Bang Chan and his producing and his stage presence and his love for stays? Am I so so proud of E-Chan for finally debuting after trying for so long? Do I get emotional watching S.Coups talk about the other members of svt and how much he cares about them and that he doesn't want to pursue solo activities because he is a part of svt first? Do I get emotional about kpop groups pushing through ridiculous drama stirred up for no good reason and having to deal with the reality of being idols? yes to all! But more than any of that, it is all just so fun. Simply the fact that they are artists creating music and other video content, and that all the goodies you get with albums even exist just makes me happy. I don't really know these folks, but the things they've created bring me joy and I'm happier for it. What more could I possibly want?
*bias questions*
#thanks for sending this <3 <3#dive-in-the-blue#this took me WAAAY too long to answer lmao#but it was a fun one!!#i kind of accidentally just talked about all of kpop in general with that last one but oh well#me tho#asks
Of course! and honestly i could be reading more into it and have a bias due to him being one of my favorites, so feel free to tell me if it doesn't make sense.
I think any of his romances really show how much he cares and (arguably) how much trouble he has accepting that part of himself. his second confession (the one where you do Raphael's quest first before heading to moonrise and meeting Araj) is a good example of how much he tends to care for those that he ends up finding himself in any type of close relationship. the vulnerability he has during the confession and the ability to come clean is a peak (and the start) of his more warmhearted nature.
another example would be if you're romancing him, and you attempt to steal the blood of Lathander he actively tells the group he is going to stay behind to free Tav. and like you brought up, the act 2 Durge scene where instead of killing Durge he talks them through it.
That being said, his caring side doesn't really begin to show through until Act 2/3 (I haven't been through a lot of Act 3 yet but I know the man comes to Tav's defense a lot).
Act 1 has little bits and pieces, like showing concern after meeting Raphael and admitting to Tav his past so they don't make the mistake of trusting a devil (I didn't expect him to be so honest about it and it through me off guard a little). He also seems to at least care a little of Tav's opinion when dealing with Gandrel (even waiting for the Tav's go ahead or...Tav to not give the go ahead and then him doing it anyway but in a more pissy manner).
Could all of these be from from a place self preservation? Absolutely! Dude's a menace to society most of the time. But given enough time and enough care from the Tav, he becomes more empathetic. I wouldn't say he is more caring than the other companions. A lot of them have him beat in that department. But when focusing on Astarion and his behaviors, he really becomes someone unexpectedly sweet. It makes me think what he was like when he was alive and happy.
That was a lot longer than I intended! I just love dissecting characters and Astarion happens to be one of those characters I love to nitpick.
I need someone to do a video essay-length deep dive into how 75% of the BG3 fandom fell so hard for Astarion's manipulative seductor act that they believe that's his actual personality. This man has to practice his lines and still fumbles them constantly. He flat-out says it's all a front because he believes his sex appeal is the only reason anyone would keep him around, which is tragic. When he drops the act, he becomes this kind of silly man rediscovering what it means to be himself, and what it means to both love and be loved. He says "I'm all pointy ears, love." while turning his head to show off those pointy ears. Let him be silly, let him be awkward! It's so much more authentic then him being a walking innuendo.
He has a mid charisma stat with a bonus for deception and rolled a nat 20 on all y'all.
Hi, could I have 1,2 , 17 & 18 for Riddle and Jade? Plis 🥺
1, 2, 17 and 18 with Riddle and Jade!
warnings: mentions of arguments in the last two. a bittttt of toxic behaviour if you squint.
went a little bit overboard with this one... like wdym i wrote more than 1k words?? also the bias.........
1. How is he in a relationship?
Riddle is in the group of overthinkers.
He wants to be the perfect boyfriend for you, but the problem is — he has zero experience in romance.
He's constantly nervous around you, for so many reasons. A part of him believes you deserve someone better — and he strives to be that person someday. But give him time, he's slowly learning.
Due to his inexperience, he'll get flustered at literally any move you try to make on him, and if you tease him Riddle gets all red and will try to get his revenge…. someday. When he stops feeling like he's going to explode when he thinks about giving you a kiss.
Jade is a bit contradictory sometimes.
He prefers to keep your relationship private. Just because he wants to keep you all for himself — but due to this same reason, his subtle possessiveness, he can't bring himself to actually hide how he feels about you. (He doesn't like PDA, and he has to be in the right mood for it.)
And if you're in a relationship with him you might already know how to read AT LEAST a bit of his reactions and indirects. And you bet this man will use this against you — he prefers to tease you or flirt with you in ways he knows only you can understand. Others might find it normal but you're the only one who knows he's trying to mess with you! So yeah, also expect a lot of inside jokes between the two of you.
2. What are his love languages?
Riddle - Acts of service and words of affirmation.
Riddle wants to prove he can be the best boyfriend you could ever have, which is why he's constantly trying to be useful for you.
Literally ask him for help in anything and he'll drop anything he's doing just to help you. He's a bit selfish in that way.
And he also likes to show off a bit, trying to show you why he's the top student with a smug face. Just wanting to prove himself as better as any other student in Night Raven College as usual!
As I mentioned, he is constantly overthinking — which is why he needs constant reassurance. Even if he's not willing to ask for it, the way his face lights up every time you tell him 'i love you' is extremely cute. Tell him he's a good boyfriend, and that you're proud of his efforts — there's nothing that could make him happier than that.
Jade - Quality time and acts of service
Jade just likes to spend time with you, even if you two aren't talking at all — he just likes it when you're there.
But even then, whenever Jade is with you it's like he always has something to say. He has long conversations with you every time since he knows you won't judge him.
He's a very good listener too, he's able to just listen to you or give you advice if you ask for it.
And he's also willing to talk about anything with you too. Even if it's something deep or just about his day.
He is still a very private guy… but you're the only one he allows to know anything about him, just like he knows everything about you.
And doing things for you is just his special way of showing affection.
It's like you have him wrapped around your finger, anything you ask and he'll give it to you.
He wants to be the one you go to when you're struggling — someone you trust.
17. How is he when he's upset with you?
Riddle needs a bit of time to cool off. He tends to avoid you until he's feeling better since he doesn't want to say something he'll regret.
Depending on what kind of person you are, arguments with him probably aren't rare — he tends to nag you a lot and doesn't really measure his words. Something he's genuinely working on but still.
He'll do his best to minimize arguments, but it's a slow process.
Just give him space for a bit.
This is rare, Jade is usually a pretty rational guy. But even then, sometimes he can't help but act a bit childishly.
You can tell by the way he's more passive aggressive. Like Riddle, he needs time to cool off… But he won't tell you he's upset.
Since you know him, you can tell by the way his polite smile looks a bittt forced, more so than usual. Which is actually a big giveaway.
Jade will apologize later for his behaviour — but he will expect an apology from you too.
18. How is he when YOU are upset with him?
Riddle is either very quick to apologize if he did something wrong OR he'll be insistent and won't back down if you back down.
If he thinks he's right in whatever you two are arguing he's probably not going to give in easily.
The best course of action would be to just end the argument there since it's leading to nowhere — but that's not the easiest thing to do sometimes.
In that case… Then he'll apologize for overreacting later. When he's not mad anymore.
In general, he doesn't like when you're upset with him at all. It just makes his insecurities skyrocket and that's why he really tries to avoid arguments.
There are actually a lot of reasons why you might get upset with Jade.
Maybe it's the way he constantly overworks himself and refuses to get help? Or perhaps the way he constantly tries to hide stuff from you? Maybe it's because of all the stuff he does behind the scenes to help you in some way without asking for your opinion first?
I can see him being even more stubborn than Riddle, maybe more willing to agree with what you're saying to please you. But it's hard to change his opinions.
You'll notice how he gives you more free meals and drinks at the Mostro Lounge for free, or how he apparently did your homework for you… again, without asking. Or tell you how beautiful you look today.
Of course, you know this is just his way to avoid the problem and get to the part of 'you forgiving him' without actually fixing the problem first.
You'll need to confront him about it.
He'll apologize again, of course. This time more genuine. After all, he didn't know how needy he could feel when you weren't around.
Hi, question! Could you elaborate on what you said about adapting montessori (and similar) approaches to caregiving for littles? I’m very curious and am not sure how that would play out
Yes! I can absolutely elaborate!
There are plenty of reasons that I like these methods for regressors.
1) is for the educational values. All regressors know their ABCs and 123s no matter how little they regress, but do you know how to knit? How about how to make sourdough bread? Do you know how to wet felt or make soap? These are all great activities that will keep littles entertained, filled with the wonders of learning, and still feeling like their regressed age.
Another reason I like these alternative methods is that they work for almost any age range or ability. A toddler regressor and a tween regressor can both crochet. A baby little and a teen middle can both help making bread.
2) is for the play and imagination. I've found a lot of littles still enjoy dramatic play (house, store, school, etc.) Experimental/sensory play, and puzzles, but have a hard time with toy play (Barbie, LPS, Transformers, etc.). Montessori and other alternative schooling methods tend to emphasize these other forms of play over toy reliant play (with the exception of Waldorf dolls and story puppets which are used for pre-planned stories and therefore IMO don't count). It also saves money AND these toys play into the educational value since many times they're made by the students.
3) is the decor. Montessori and Waldorf are much more subtle and cheaper than the mainstream idea of what constitutes a good playroom or nursery. Instead of a loud, over decorated area, which some may find overestimating, you have these quiet, more ambiguous areas that can still make one feel distinctly little. (Personally, I find the Montessori idea of a floor bed instead of a crib very exciting since I am a baby regressor and can't afford to have a crib built)
4) alternate caregiver dynamics. I love Montessori for regressors because part of it emphasizes the independence of the child. Waldorf tends to be more sheltered and cuddly, but for a little without a cg, many Montessori lessons are usable.
5) A lot of people who regress tend to have some sort of mental health trouble or disability. Waldorf, Reggio Amelia, and Montessori teachings all emphasize a "daily rhythm" and routine. Personally (it's different for each individual) I've found that a Waldorf environment (since that's where my real life experience lies. I just think Montessori and Reggio are also neat and have interesting, explorable concepts to look into) not only helps me regress, but has really helped calm my anxiety, and made autism and ADHD easier since there's a very set, strict way each day works. I don't doubt that it could be the same for others.
I am a bit bias so keep these things in mind:
1) I do not really like any of these ideas entirely and think they have their flaws, especially when it comes to actual children. (In fact I HATE the idea of Montessori with actual children. I think it's really awful for socialization and skill building, especially in later grades.) I think Waldorf's insistence on a "correct creativity" and knowledge restriction until certain ages, and the Montessori approach of depriving children of fiction for the first 7 years of life are BS.
2) these viewpoints come from someone who has spent time on mommy blogs and school curriculum sites and has not been in the classroom (except for that of a Waldorf high school)
3) a lot of my love of specific aspects comes from the perspective of someone trying to set up a little daycare. Some things like the mixed age groups and lack of emphasis on time periods leads to less tension between little ones of different backgrounds and regressed ages so of course I love it.
There are probably, definitely more reasons I like these ideas, but I'll add them later. Thank you for asking!
Other resources to games, activities, ideas, etc. will be linked in a reblog.
Repost: Ask on Why I Think Jimin is the Best Dancer in BTS
Anonymous: Hello, I hope you are having a wonderful week. I have obviously been going through your blog and love it. It's baffling to me that Jimin is not your bias lol. The way you write about him comes across as though he is one of your bias lol. I love what you wrote about him or any other members. I do want to know a bit more about your opinion about their dancing as well as their performance skills. You mentioned that you think Jimin is the best dancer. Now this is obviously a subjective opinion and a lot of fans would come at you for it but I am really interested to know why you think that. What makes Jimin better than J-Hope even though more than half the fandom will fight you on it? I also want to know a bit more about your perspective on their performance skills. I personally think Jimin is the best performer in the group and most likely one of the best if not the best performers in Kpop. However, I don't think he is the best dancer. He is definitely a good dancer but I wouldn't rate him about JHope. In saying that though, I find him to be the most charismatic performer which sometimes if not often overshadows other members skills. People tend to look at him in performances and feel thatt he is the best dancer whereas I feel that he is the most charismatic one in stage. I dont know if he realizes that often after performances he becomes the centre of attention and has calmed down because of it. I have found him quieter in recent performances and am wondering why that is. It almost felt to me that he was willingly side lining himself which doesn't make sense if your job is to basically perform. However I have also noticed other members fans complaining about him standing out so maybe the members and company have had this discussion. Who do you think are the best performers in BTS?
I rate my performers as below:
1- Jimin
- JHope
3- V
4 - JK, Suga and RM but JK slightly above Suga and RM and more closer to V.
5- Jin
Just wanted to know your thoughts. Lastly, why isn't JHope as well known for his dancing skills or his performance skills as Jimin? I would say he is the best dancer in BTS and one of the best in KPOP but I don't hear as much about his dancing. Is the preference given to the better looking member? The first thing I noticed when I got into BTS is Jimins looks above everything else so does that give him advantage? Now I am not saying Jimin isn't a good dancer. He is equally as good but maybe JHope has an edge. Please note that this is not to shade any members. I am just curious about it.
(this will be a long one for no other reason than me rambling a bit. Sorry everyone. :))
Hi Anon,
Sometimes it surprises me that people are surprised I can speak very positively of someone I don’t bias (lol what is going on in the fandom if this isn’t normal?) but on the other hand I kind of get it. It’s easy to develop tunnel vision to think your bias walks on water while everyone else is only barely decent.
I like Jimin. I’ve always liked him for his artistry, thought he was hot, and later came to like him as a person, but that latter bit took some work for me. I had to work through prior assumptions and narratives I had about him. So now, I kinda like showing off how much I like him, if that makes sense. Also, every few days I get asks from antis, taekookers, or just general weirdos that sometime give me added motivation to remind us all that Jimin hung the sun and moon in the heavens, Jimin turned water into wine, and that Jimin is an interesting, intelligent, and beautiful person whose face you should want to sit on.
Not everything I think about him is positive, obviously, just as I have my own quips about all the members. But as I said in my long-form post on hate (linked here), I choose not to highlight those things often all over the internet, based on my very subjective perception. Too many people seem to enjoy doing that already, and I’m not interested.
I noticed jikook about the same time, and I think it’s impossible to be into jikook, to see and appreciate what they are, without liking both Jimin and Jungkook. (Unless you’re a rival shipper - then seeing what they are might just trigger you.)
This might be hard to believe, but I struggle to articulate and write on things I really really like, to strangers. As I’ve said many times before, I run a separate music blog with some friends, and our process becomes a bit… inefficient when I have to write about certain artists I really like, such as Tyler Joseph. My friends help me a lot during those times, they take my blathering ramblings and make it coherent. I come off as a bit unhinged talking about things that really excite me, so the somewhat calm/coherent but perhaps excessively adoring posts you all see me write about Jimin, are quite possibly the biggest proof he’s not my bias. Lol.
Guess I’m just weird that way.
Main answer:
Usually, the ‘best dancer’ debate is one I’m completely uninterested in participating in. I don’t think it matters very much who anyone says is the best dancer in the group. Most of us can tell BTS’s two main dancers: J-Hope and Jimin, are fairly equal in skill and better than most other dancers in the entire industry at the most basic level. And when it comes to comparing two members in any area, I don’t see it as a big deal. All our views are almost entirely subjective (“almost” because technical skill can be critically assessed, and is usually plain to see), and none of this is that serious anyway. Who cares if I think Jimin is a better dancer, like I’m nobody, right?
But you know, being a Hobi bias and talking about dance sometimes requires some delicacy, because aside from his skills which are objectively incredible, a lot of the narratives around Hobi are things he himself has actively crafted from scratch, or have been explicitly spoon-fed to fans over the years, from magazine publications, interview hosts and even BTS themselves. So taking an opposing view can be seen by some as being against Hobi himself because of how he’s expressed his own view of his dance skills, which is very different from how Jimin describes his relationship with dance, something that he too is obviously passionate about. For example, look at this interview and see how both Jimin and J-Hope talked about dance.
From Anan Magazine June 2017.
In case the text is too small to read, I’ll quote the relevant section:
“I hope I am behind no one in dance. I don’t want to lose to anyone in dance.” He’s basically expressing his passion for dance, but he frames it by first declaring how he wants to be the best and not be behind anyone.
Jimin by contrast speaks about it very generally but personally too, apparently unconcerned with how he compares to anyone else. Even later on in Jimin’s interview when he talks about singing, he says he wants to be a good singer everyone can approve of. The element of outranking people is not a sentiment that’s present at all in his descriptions.
Let’s look at some more interviews.
.
Note in both cases, dance is alluded to, but for Jimin it’s only implied and towards the end.
(Aside, this interview is so interesting to read because it’s one of few that shows them all being very innocent and unguarded. For example, the boys have hinted here and there over the years that the most image-conscious member is V (which would make sense given his social intelligence), but in this interview they explicitly say it. And this contrasts with some more dominant views in the fandom that say it’s J-Hope that is most image-conscious. But it’s always been V, and the boys confirm it here. There are similar small but candid descriptions of other members in the interview too.)
…and would still be told point blank J-Hope is the best dancer.
*
Anon, one reason it’s taken me some time to answer your ask is because I was looking for a specific interview and I can’t find it. I vaguely recall in that interview, J-Hope is explicitly asked how he feels being the dance leader but having Jimin be more known for his dancing (despite all the times J-Hope is declared to be the best dancer in the group and this is something that the members have said louder and louder as the years went by…), and J-Hope replies that yes it’s sometimes hurtful to not be recognized for his work, but that Jimin is also a great dancer he’s learned from and I think he also said something about how that means he needs to work harder. I remember when that interview dropped the energy in the fandom was off for a bit, and maybe it’s only coincidence Hobi akgaes started becoming bffs with taekookers around the same time. I personally felt for Hobi in that interview and it was a bit hard for me to watch (I’ve previously written about how the hype around Jimin’s dancing was something that used to annoy the heck out of me). Anyone who knows the interview I’m talking about please help a sister out with a link (I can’t even remember the year its from).
Anyway, my point is, if we’re going to use Jimin’s good looks (as though Hobi isn’t objectively good looking himself), Jimin’s charisma, etc, as reasons people think he’s a better dancer, it’s only fair to not discount how there’s very deliberate, consistent, and unrelenting messaging from practically everyone that also serve as reasons some people think J-Hope is a better dancer, regardless of what we both see with our eyes. Some in the fandom have tried to make peace by separating the competencies of the two, classifying Hobi as a Hiphop dancer (which he is), but categorizing Jimin as a Contemporary dancer (which he technically isn’t, but because he’s Jimin, somehow is, but also is definitely more than a Contemporary dancer).
*
J-Hope is one of the best dancers in the industry, but I’d also say he seems to be a very efficient dancer. He executes the moves in the most efficient ways while maintaining somewhat consistent energy throughout (look at his Go Go hip thrusts above for example), and sometimes that means sacrificing impact. Jimin by contrast, almost always goes all in, and that’s one reason I think he’s a better dancer. Jimin also has the most high-difficulty specializations in his arsenal, in my opinion, across all dance styles, and this is one reason he is irreplaceable to BTS. Without Jimin there’d be no Black Swan or Butterfly solos, there’d be none of those ads in 2015 - 2017 where he performed Contemporary style dances that helped build BTS’s profile in Korea and Asia, no b-boying aerial flips that till today helps establish BTS as a solid dance group despite most of the members clearly not being dancers, there’d be no Lie/Boy Meets Evil duet, and so on and so forth. J-Hope shines during dance breaks where he’s given free rein to do nothing but dance however he likes, Jimin shines more when there’s structure/choreography he’s perfected to the point it becomes an innate expression of how he feels the music. I just happen to like Jimin’s more.
*
I’m not sure how sensible it is to treat performing and dancing as two different things. I see why some people might separate them, but I think to dance is to perform. And while J-Hope too is an excellent performer, Jimin has elevated this to both a science and art.
I don’t know what Jimin ate before their 2019 SMA performances but he needs to stick to that diet cause his dancing was ridiculous.
Cause what the fuck was this?
youtube
I’m not even going to post the fancam for IDOL because people died. It is that good.
Anon you asked for a ranking. Here’s mine:
Jimin.
J-Hope.
Jungkook.
Yoongi tied with Taehyung.
Namjoon tied with Seokjin.
I’m surprised you say J-Hope isn’t well known for his dancing, because he is. If nothing else, ARMYs have made sure of it. Hobi doesn’t need my help in that department, I assure you.
:)
