#russian is like the surface of a feather like it's light but not exactly “soft” but still very delicate #german is . cute ? i think it's adorable . it has a lot of momentum it makes u wanna talk fast and talk a lot #like it's squishy . sleek surface w a soft inside #thai is like song . it's like interprative dance or maybe a trust-fall . everything follows from the previous thing #it feels like a little fairy flying up and letting itself fall and flying up again and so on (for fun). its so beautiful but also playful #mandarin chinese is like . idk why but it gives me the same vibe the concept of Observation does . like to read and to see and absorb #and then to translate that into smth else . like . imagine a poet people watching or an artist preparing a canvas w practiced hands. thats #the vibe. soft and elegant and musical but like...in a way that feels lived-in. arabic feels wise ? like music or poetry u read #and feel nothing about then years later u stumble on and it applies to everything in ur life. that kind of vibe. like it knows more than u #and itll make sure ur heart and soul grows as big as its lexicon . polish is like snowflakes falling . it has the feeling of complexity and #elegance but it's also so so light and slippery and...maybe not elusive but the feeling of losing a dance partner in a waltz ? like fun and #light but also an underlying elegance and somberness still . turkish is like the feeling when u get a text from ur crush #and your heart tightens and you cant tell if it's really painful or really amazing . it feels like unrequited love . or a caress #or making out with someone when you know its the last time you'll see them. its beautiful in a yearning longing way #korean is like joking around w ur friends and you've stayed up until like almost 5 AM and youre so delirious that everything is funny #and ur speaking kind of lightly and openly and everything you say holds a lot of weight and doesnt matter at all. you laugh at everything #and youre practically talking in inside jokes and watching the sunrise together . one of them hits u on the shoulder lovingly. ur by a fire #yoruba feels like the metatheory of the matatheory . abstraction until it circles back to intuition or maybe #it feels like plotting the route of a comet or maybe like the soft warm whirr of statistics. trying to verbalise beauty somehow #when you know the best thing you can show it is by telling everyone just look!! look at the sky just look!#anyway yh i think i could do this for every language ever tbh

httyd 3, while very well made overall, had an amatonormative shitshow of a script and did not manage to do the book ending justice. "There were dragons when I was a boy" lost all its tragedy because 1. there was a reunion. 2. the film made it seem as if it was ok because both found romantic love.

The wild robot, on the other hand, did the every bittersweet-permanent-parting and visually stunning thing I wanted and it did it RIGHT

The best animated film of the 2020s so far

#the wild robot #idk if this makes sense but it put the art back in animation #studios quitting 2D to pursue photorealistic 3D was a big loss #using 3D to make everything look artistic and stylized in a different way than 2D but still beautiful is a win #no i dont want 3D used for cgi that is only meant to be realistic. wheres the drama? the aesthetic? its stored in the wild robot #also in spiderverse

people who are so enthusiastic about the things i make and the fandoms i rep at my booth are THE #1 coolest part of the experience 🥺 i feel like convention artist alleys these days are mostly filled with the same 4 popular anime/mobile games and it's really hard to find less popular anime, let alone things like video games and webseries. you would not believe how many comments I got that people never see things like Team Fortress 2 or Portal in AAs, let alone stuff like Infinity Train or HLVRAI 😭 the people who recognize them are always SO excited and then I'M excited and we are BOTH excited and nerding out together. it's fantastic!!!

the hlvrai fandom is definitely still going strong! i still see a lot of fanart and community posts and my sales on my few hlvrai things on my etsy have Not slowed down lmao. i'm sure if covid didn't happen there would have been so many benry cosplayers in 2020. we were ROBBED </3 i've seen You and one benry cosplayer at ACEN last year and that was IT </3 </3 </3

Part of why I think it's important to pick up a skill that requires challenge or skill is not only that it can be a great experience to have, but it teaches you so many things you never expected.

I've realized the reason I feel ancient crocheting is that this is a skill humans have been doing for thousands of years: textiling, cloth-making, and creating. Technology is amazing, don't get me wrong, but I think many people take for granted what technology has done for us, and we forget sometimes that these skills take work and effort, and continuous effort!

It doesn't matter what you pick up as a skill or craft, and you absolutely should do it in a way that accommodates you, but finding a skill or craft and doing it will teach you things you never considered.

#art #crafting #i think this is partially why you have dingheads saying 'ooh but how can ANCIENT people making BEAUTIFUL and COMPLEX art/buildings!'#watched somebody like 'oh but this cathedral is so beautiful and huge; why do we believe that these people built it without technology HMMM'#like. this is a fine craft we all over the globe have been doing for millenia. why CAN'T people 700-1000+ years before us do that?#why do you look at people through the lens of 'inherently inadequate unless i deem them 'sufficient' enough'?#picking up a textile art has really helped change my perspective personally #because i live in this world where you aren't... required to think about textiles like a textile artist or maker would #and when you DO think about it it tends to be how capitalism fucking destroys everything in its vicinity (eg fast fashion)#anyway just a point i don't think people tend to consider #i think i just like feeling ancient; like my bones yearn for the earth's gentle embrace surrounded by artifacts
