You can say Jevil is a lot like Susie, an unpredictable battle-happy force of chaos fighting against the restrictions placed on them by the world by simply denying that they’re there.
The main difference is that Jevil seems to truly has no interest in anything but his 'games' of violence, while throughout Chapter 1 Susie learns that violent solutions aren't always the answer.... and now that her desire to 'do anything' also includes just wanting to keep being with her friends...
It might be a lot harder for her to achieve the kind of freedom she wants....
Or you can say Jevil is a lot like Kris, the paradoxical nature of their existence exemplified through the motif of a Cage.
But Jevil is the prisoner who is actually Free, while Kris is a prison who is themself trapped.
You can also say Spamton is a lot like Kris, robbed of freedom and agency by both metaphysical puppet-strings and a mysterious voice on the phone.
It's just that Spamton has alienated everyone he's ever known and ended up totally alone, while Kris at least has some friends willing to help them… if they knew what's going on.
Or you can say Spamton is a lot like Ralsei, a Darkner tormented by his wider knowledge and deeper understanding of the nature of things, and how he is not truly real and how he is not truly free. Who echoes some of Flowey's lines from 'Undertale'.
But Ralsei handles this knowledge by being both incredibly fatalistic and incredibly unhealthily selfless, while Spamton, as a Darkner doomed to selfishness, drives himself mad (well, madder) trying to fight against it.
And… you could say the Roaring Knight is a lot like Kris because they are both incredibly mysterious to the Player. And Kris' Dark World design does make them look a lot like a knight of sorts...
Or if you wanna say Ramb is the true 'main character' of Chapter 3's Shadow Crystal Route, than he's a lot like Kris because they are both outsiders in their 'worlds'. Kris is the only Human in Hometown, Ramb is the only Plugboy in TV World.
The main difference is that, well, even if Kris still feels like an outsider sometimes, they still clearly Belong in Hometown more than Ramb belonged in TV World.
Or you could say Ramb is a lot like Ralsei, a Darkner who sees himself as a good friend for Kris and is highly invested in pleasing them and making them happy. Actually becoming literal pushovers for them.
But Ralsei still tries to gently nudge Kris towards Pacifism and what he sees as the right choices where he can, and tries to keep them on the set path. Ramb, for Kris' sake, gave them a world of 'total freedom'… that they actually found to be quite disturbing. Especially since they weren't truly the one in control. A fact Ramb seems unaware of, but Ralsei probably is.
Also, unlike Ramb, Ralsei doesn't just have Kris/the Player. He has actually made other connection, most importantly Susie. Ramb sacrificed any connection he could've ever made in TV World in the name of his loyalty to Kris and it actually cost him his life.
And the most obvious comparison to Gerson would be his unofficial pupil, Susie. While opposites on the surface... one is a scholarly elder and the other is a rambunctious teen. One is a trickster who is constantly hiding his true power, while the other's strength lies in how incredibly straightforward she tends to be. One is a bookworm and author and a teacher, while the other seem to really struggle academically.....
But both are reptilian Monsters with a similar Magic attack.
Both fiercely reject the Prophecy's inevitability. Both are 'echoes' of Undyne as she was in Undertale in different ways...
But Gerson could also be compared to Ralsei. Both are Darkners who look like Light World Monsters (although with different in-universe lore reasons... I assume), both know a lot about the Prophecy, both try and guide Kris and Susie in their own way, both are part of Susie's Healing Magic Training, both are somewhat echoes of Flowey. (Gerson being revived from an object covered in dust in a very similar manner to how Asriel was revived as Flowey).
It's just that Ralsei is a lot more defeatist. While he did hold some hope that maybe he could change fate through the power of his kindness, he still found it hard to doubt the Prophecy's inevitability. He tried to hide it from Kris and Susie in the hopes of sparing them the grief of knowing about it like he does.
While Gerson shatters the Prophecy in an attempt to nudge the Heroes into defying it, always believing and never doubting that the Prophecy could be rewritten.
Ralsei is saddled with this knowledge from just the nature of his being, he's not even quite sure where his knowledge came from. And despite knowing so much, he's still got the emotional maturity of a teen and the life experience of like three days, and his naivete and lack of actual experience are his biggest weaknesses.
Both his social inexperience and his fatalist attitude are the reason why he could never teach Susie more than the basics of Healing Magic.
Gerson is a grown-up who's knowledge of the Prophecy came from his research and has ages of actual life experience and wisdom to pull from. While he doesn't seem to know Healing Magic himself, he was instrumental to teaching it to Susie because he was able to figure her out and devise a method that will actually help her learn and improve.
Ralsei is also the one Darkner we know of who is immune to petrification in every Dark World, while Gerson specifically can only appear under very specific circumstances in specific Dark Worlds.
Hmmmm… are there any more Shadow Boss - Delta Warrior comparisons I missed?

why Asriel? I mean I really like Asriel too, I am just curious on why you personally like him so much.
I dano ur gonna have to ask 10 yr old me on this one
yeah idk man essentially I just think if the very experience of playing this game and it's major themes were translated into a character study he is the ultimate subject <- (this is why hes my fav but this is also now my thesis for the derailed rambles below)

(this is about to be VERY nonsensical and all over the place)
no but for real. I actually kind of find it difficult to put into words just whyyy it is I like my favorite character (at any given time) so much... it definetly helps a lot that I have that nostalgia from 9 years ago but if I were to play undertale for the very first time today he'd absolutely still be my favorite. I think he's pretty much one of (if not) the best video game villains ever, particularily because his story could not work and exist in other media forms. at least to nowhere NEAR the impact.
obviously you hear a lot about how he acts as a mirror to you as the player, which yes holy peak. my god perfectly done. but the part that REALLYY sells his character to me, and my favorite aspect of this, is how the game essentially baits you into falling down the exact same path he did (and probably even faster than he did) by just.. promising more. its a short game, not so short you don't have to be invested, but not long enough for you to actually feel totally and fully satisfied with just one playthrough.
undertale is completely designed for replayability- it reads you up and down and fully anticipates that you WILL play this more than once. assuming the route of the average blind player is neutral -> pacifist -> genocide, if you were receptive to the game and, in a sense, played along and took this world and the characters seriously, neutral will probably leave you with much to be desired. it let's you get attached to these characters, but ends so unsatisfyingly. makes you wonder what would happen if you chose differently, especially with flowey (the little guy of the hour) coming in and goading you on to a pacifist ending (which you also learn later that this is part of his oh so evil scheme to keep you around forever). and if your receptiveness let you actually find yourself caring about the ending these characters get, you WILL replay the game to see it through and get the good ending.
ultimately in the pacifist ending toby fox decides to spend a solid 20 minutes making you feel really sorry for asriel, only for him to then be the only character you cannot truly give a good ending. and usually, most people (ive seen) are just shocked at how emotional this little game made them feel and how much they realized they cared about these little guys. and even though you did all that to get the good, preferable ending, you boot up the game again because you dont really want to let those emotions you just felt go. and flowey is there to ask you NOT to do it, because, isn't this what you just fought to stop him from doing?? and it's something he no longer wants- he's stopped seeing chara as the only possible vehicle to his own (self defined) redemption, and hes divorced that projection of the "perfect friend" from frisk, choosing instead to see them as not only their own person, but someone else he needs to let go.
your inability to let this world (that you've expressly chosen to take seriously) carry on in its most desirable ending is what will eventually lead you to try and milk all the possible content out of it, to the point of killing everyone you possibly can just to see what will happen. obviously that's wording it pretty dramatically (i literally replay geno all the time for funsies and i like to fight sans LOL) but I'm just trying to ham up the point that this is practically BAR FOR BAR what flowey says as he recounts how he came to be so bored and apathetic.
it was your own love for the game that made it stop feeling "real" to you, as the more you replay the game, the more dialogue you skip through, the less you truly engage with it. it's kind of an endless cycle of ever diminishing returns to try and replicate how it once felt. (does this sound awfully familiar to that little guy still is this sounding like that guy to anyone else)
I also think he's just kind of funny he's such an edgy little 10 year old man. everything flowey says and does is so irrevocably tied to who he is and the relationships he had and the fact that when he died he was a little kid being influenced by the most emo human to ever step foot on mt ebott LOL. also I feel like when people look at my page they'd probably instantly assume I think "asriel > flowey" but that quite literally means nothing to me that is a chai tea moment like I know everybody has their own interpretations but for me personally i feel that flowey cannot exist as his own character without acknowledging that he's asriel and how that constantly affects everything about him (as hes pretty much his own foil on purpose) and asriel without flowey is just not so much an interesting character to me.. I just think (and again!! everyone has their own interpretations!!!) (ik people like 2 argue ab this) that the most (personally!!!) compelling way to read him is as one singular, linear person. because like thats what he is. he didn't come back as a flower and immediately hop on that murder sauce, the game just intentionally simultaneously shows you both the very beginning and the tail end of his villain arc without you even realizing you are seeing two ends of the same person's life. I'm losing track I think hahao
yeah anyway I like him ibguess I dunno
#undertale#asriel#flowey#this might be indecipherable ive been up all night#and also its obv not comprehensive#like i could totally go on#and ive already talked ab him and chara in prev posts#so this is just ab him essentially

Asriel could easily be like the god of familial love, of hopes and dreams, partnerships (friendships, companionship, puppy love if you must) and children/youth and then when he's flowey he could be the god of betrayal and spite, ala nemesis and eris. Still rooted in the ideas of love but twisted into what happens when love turns sour. Still a god of youth but also a god of lost time. Actually making him a minor god of time would also really work to tie into his character. Him being Pandora and the box at the same time would be interesting.
Transcript: ooh are we talking about reapertale? okay time to bring flowey into it because i was actually thinking about him recently—
first off, unrelated tangent, i think they did chara pretty decently? like, they used to be kind, but they were betrayed by monsterkind, etc etc. i like that, it honestly brings up what i think is a tragically unexplored part of their character. they hate monsterkind in some way for being so nice, and i think that’s why we can drive them to support genocide so quickly. i do think they shouldn’t have been evil right off the bat, of course, but hey! they’re a mythological figure. that stuff happens a lot in mythology, and more importantly it works in tangent to undertale.
flowey, though. god. amnesia does not suit him. they stripped him of character and expected him to still be flowey. it’s illogical. really reflects the early fandom’s perception of flowey and asriel as entirely different people. like being a flower makes you want to kill people or something. smh.
sorry i turned the topic to flowey but like. does he have to be the embodiment of despair. him being obsessed with chara is in-character i guess but he does it in such an out-of-character way. honestly that’s a big problem with every au! they make him a sweet little guy without actually addressing the roots of his canon problems. i mean, that or they make him the living embodiment of evil. they gave him the chara treatment, seriously.
he has so many layers though. it’s hard to fit him into one category. personally i’d make him some kind of pandora’s box thing. like an embodiment of the world’s pestilences where he used to be a closed box. helps highlight that he didn’t change, the box was always there, dying just opened it.
that might not make any sense. but man i’m tired of people making flowey chara’s lapdog. when in genocide he clearly sees himself as a partner in crime, at least until the end. (and then he defies them and ruins the whole killing humanity thing. so.) and don’t even get me started on pacifist. he tries to kill you repeatedly because he thinks you’re chara.
flowey is driven by (platonic!!) love. but it’s not the soft love you see on greeting cards or tv. it’s angry love. aggressive love. he’d do anything for the person he loves. even kill them.
honestly, maybe flowey would work better as a god of love. (yes i headcanon him as aroace but still.) “asriel” is soft, caring love. hugs and kisses and warm blankets and all that. “flowey” is the kind of love that slaps you in the face to get you up in the morning. he’s possessive, angry, passionate.
WHOO this got long.
#reapertale has the problems of having incredibly interesting concepts#but ignoring them to focus on shipping#which isint bad per say it IS a soriel au at its heart#its just not a very GOOD soriel au since it ignores some of the most important characters and themes that tie back into toriel and sans#asriel being a minor god of youth and familial love favoring the mortal chara and then becoming 'corrupted' (for lack of a better word)#after their untimely death to where he starts to loath the humans who killed them and the monsters that allowed it to happen#that he looses those traits that made him a god of youth and adopts a new domain as a god of time would be very interesting#does asriel even die in reapertale? hes mentioned but his death isint as big a deal as charas and its kinda confusing?#chara dies and then he just...disappears and turns into flowey.#i think him 'cursing' humanity once chara dies would be better. maybe he tries to intervene and thats how he dies.#and gets reborn as 'flowey'#i also dont like frisk just being an 'emmisary of mercy' what does that even mean#EDIT i had more thoughts. mainly about why i dont like reapertale soriel#its turns what was a friendship to lovers story into an enemies to lover story which could work if it didint change such key aspects of who#they both are as characters as well as the roles they play in OG ut. i feel like when making aus of ships changing their situations is good#but you should keep a semblance of the original dynamic and who they are as characters.#which is another reason i dont really like frisk in the au since they just exist to 'fix' chara from what i remember#honestly Chara actually dying and not being an anomly from the get go would give frisk and flowey a chance to do something#perhaps in her grief at loosing both of her children she creates frisk in their image and this is why flowey mistakes frisk for chara#you could also have flowey trying to befriend the papyrus of the au under the guise of getting chara back#Frisk being a minor god/nymph would also work pretty well for them maybe taking over floweys domain as a new god of youth (all the more#reason for him to feel like hes being replaced)#floweys a very interesting character especially in his relation to toriel sans frisk and chara and the au ONLY focus on his relationship#with chara which really does him a disservice. (and its definitely because the creator ships charasriel. never seen a charasriel shipper#that didint horrifically misunderstand both of their characters since them being siblings and best friends is so much more interesting than#them being together. not to mention that its incest )

-–☆⁂☕︎Hacked☕︎⁂☆–--
Credits: I got this lovely idea from @sobbingscripter go give her some love on her fics. Part 2
[yearning!tim] [slow burn] [mlw] [x reader] [fluff] [cutesy!tim] [sequel?] [plot twist?] [damian wayne cameo] [reader has glasses] [tim has glasses] [I repeat TIMMY BOY WEARS GLASSES]
Tim is currently very high on energy drinks, trying to hack into Black Mask's mainframe. He is sure that he is behind the recent kidnapping, but he just can't prove it, yet.
He types in the encryption code into the Bat computer and before he can notice and fix his stupid caffeine induced typo, he clicks enter and he is met with a catalogue of photos.
At first, he sees screenshots from a lab website. Sionis working with chemicals? Then, he scrolls through and sees a photo of you. A young woman with at least 16 fries in your mouth, grinning at your friend.
Huh?
Tim closes the laptop and decides that he needs sleep. He's hallucinating and he needs desperate sleep.
After one of Alfred's soothing cups of 'sleepy tea' — that he's almost 75% sure has ground up and dissolved sleeping pills — Tim is out like a light.
The next morning, Time climbs back onto the Bat computer and nearly spits out his fresh croissant when he sees that you were not a hallucination of a pretty girl as he previously thought.
He scrolls through the camera roll, candid photos of the same young woman. Birthday videos, 0.5 photos, videos your friends took of you having a crashout about engineering homework. You were so cute with your messy hair and glasses gone askew on your face.
Tim threw the thought in the trash along with his croissant wrapper and continued his work from last night. He needed to get a grip. He types in the encryption code a second time, correctly and gets the same cellphone. Yours. He decides to dig a little deeper, but gets pretty distracted.
You're struggling with a homework question and asked many of your friends for help. Tim decides, you know, while he is in your phone, he'll just.. help you along. So, he types out a message, screenshots it and sent it yo your gallery.
>>—♡—>
"Oh my gosh. Look!" You say as you read the random Maths help that popped up in your gallery in a folder called 'Maths for pretty girls'.
>>—♡—>
That's how it started. You knew you'd been hacked but by a completely helpful guy. First it was Maths. It was the only reason that Tim hadn't un-hacked you, yet. Or, at least that's what he tells himself. In truth, he actually found your weird videos cute and the way you would send thank you pictures to him from the most unflattering angle known to man, captioned 'thank you mysterious elf'.
Tim despised being an elf but he supposed if a pretty girl called him that, he didn't mind.
>>—♡—>
After a month of Tim helping you with Maths, he decided to send a silly photo of himself, back. Was he dead on his feet? Yes. Was he on another caffeine high? Yes. Should he have gone to bed and left the Bat computer alone? Yes. Did he? No. But my goodness did he look damn good in blue light glasses, in a white t-shirt, messy dark hair as he leaned back in that gaming chair? Yes. Yes, he did.
Your jaw practically dropped when you saw that the guy helping you with your Maths problems was not only a nerd, but an attractive nerd. The universe was on your side.
You didn't respond because it was like 12am and you were half-asleep.
The next morning when Tim saw that he not only sent a picture of sleep deprived Tim to you, but he didn't get a single response. He was left on read.
He just sulked the whole morning and pretended he didn't jump when you added a picture of your outfit of the day to a shared album. He reached for his phone so fast, Bruce looked at him funny.
It was a cute dress. A dress. You looked so beautiful. The dress wasn't even revealing. it was flowey, had tulips on it. You had an adorable smile and your hair was down.
Tim decided to copy you. And not just in the 'oh I'll send an outfit of the day, too', way. He bought a similar dress and did the same exact thing. It made you laugh.
Days passed and you did the same, even adding a picture of you brushing your teeth to the album and so did he. And then Tim did something he was 89% sure was not his greatest idea.
He sent a photo of his phone number. On his bicep. Stupid? Yes. Cliche? Maybe. Effective? 100% you took a second to ogle his bicep before texting him.
The first thing he said was to meet up for coffee. You agreed. Did this mean that Tim was going to un-hack your phone? No. Did this mean he was going to start adding photos of random updates to the album, and calling Timmy and Me, a Project? No.
>>—♡—>
The coffee date made you a little nervous. This man looked good from all angles, even a crappy one where the only lighting was a computer screen while he was dead on his feet. And the first impression he had of you was 0.5 pictures and crashing out over engineering homework.
Tim thought the opposite. He thought that you were so pretty and confident and he was just a weirdo with an energy drink addiction and an atrocity of a sleep schedule.
"Why in Father's name are you dressed like that?" Damian asked as he stood at the doorway of Tim's room. Tim was wearing a Red Robin t-shirt, jeans and his yellow converse.
"Why? Is- Is there something wrong with it?" Tim was panicking. Maybe you didn't like Red Robin. Now his dreams of you getting all excited when he told you were crushed by Damian's tone.
"The colours are off. The red doesn't go well with your bright shoes. You don't want to scare off the girl."
Time froze. "How do you know I'm going in a date?"
"Because unless you're getting ready to play Binky The Clown at a Garfield Character Look Alike contest, you're not winning any points. Let alone with a female. They are complex species, Drake." Damian said.
"You got rejected, didn't you?"
"Shut up and change your shoes. Or very least the shirt. Perhaps the dress will match." With that parting sentence, Damian left. Dammit, he knew.
"I am not a cross-dresser, I swear!" Tim calls.
"No need to be ashamed, Drake. Grayson can do the splits without castrating himself and you like to wear dresses. We all have our things." Damian retorted, making Tim groan and flop down on the bed.
>>—♡—>
When Tim arrived to the cafe, he was not wearing a dress, nor the outfit from before. He wore a simple white tshirt, a pair of black jeans and his black converse. Who can go wrong with monochromatic? Colour doesn't look good on everyone.
That rule doesn't apply to you, apparently. You were so pretty. In a lilac dress, white socks that had frills on the tops paired with little black heels, and a pink cardigan. Your hair was down on your shoulders and your glasses hung low on your freckled face as you read a book in the corner. Tim puts his glasses on to make sure he isn't dreaming. Youre so beautiful. Did he even brush his hair.
He runs to his car and spends an extra 5 minutes fixing his hair. He then walks in like nothing happened and sits down in front of you.
"Hey, stalker." You say.
"Hey, gorgeous." WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?? Tim doesn't talk like that?? He is having an existential crisis right now.
"I- I mean. Hi. You're really pretty." He blabbers.
"Thanks. You're not too bad yourself. I like your glasses." You compliment. His brain short circuits.
"Me too. I mean, thanks. I like yours too. Nice eyes, by the way, where did you get them- I MEAN your necklace- chest. Dress." He lets out a gargling noise of embarrassment and buries his face in his hands. He wants the earth to swallow him right around now.
Then you laugh. At first, he's thinking 'oh my gosh, this girl is laughing at me'. And then, he's like, 'oh my gosh, this girl is laughing. She has such a pretty laugh. And it's directed at me.'
Tim looks up at you, a small smile on his face as he tries to calm the blushing down.
"So, what are you reading?" He asks.
>>—♡—>
A full 2 hours, about 3 hot chocolates and maybe a croissant or two later, the two of you finally bid goodbye. He watches you walk to a car. A very fancy car with someone in the front. His blood runs cold.
He's seen that guy before. That's.. Sionis' right hand. Shit.
>>—♡—>
"Of course she had to work with him. Of course." Tim whines once he gets home.
"Master Timothy, perhaps she is simply an associate of the man whom was driving her. Henchmen have families." Alfred consoles as he swaps out Tim's energy drink with tea.
"But I've seen that car before. The plates match up with a car that goes in and out of Sionis's estate on the daily. See, there's the car." The young man points to the screen as a car rolls into the driveway, the plates match up.
"Oh, dear." Alfred murmurs.
"Shall I let master Bruce know of this?"
"No, don't. I'll dig deeper. Be inconspicuous."
>>—♡—>
"You know, putting on a trenchcoat and sunglasses is not inconspicuous." Damian whispers in irritation.
"Shut up." Tim whacks his head.
"Sleep with one eye open tonight, Drake." Damian warns.
"Shh." Tim shushes as you walk past the cafe they are hiding at. You walk into a makeup shop.
"What girl goes shopping alone?" Damian whispers.
"Shut up." Tim says again, "Lots of girls go shopping alone."
"They don't even go to the bathroom with any less than a group. I wonder what they need that many girls for?"
"To compare chest sizes?"
"Disgusting. Point is- girls go nowhere alone, let alone shopping."
"Oh hey, Tim." You wave.
Damian looks up at you, muttering something about Tim's taste in women not being completely abysmal.
"Hey." Tim smiles.
"What are you doing here? And why are you dressed like that?"
"We came to spy on you." Damian says.
"What?" Tim acts oblivious. "No, we didn't."
"Right." You say, quite unconvinced. "Why spy on me? I'm just buying makeup."
"Why are you with Roman Sionis?" Damian asks. "I have no recollection of him working with females." He adds factually.
"I don't work with him." The words nearly make Tim leap with joy that you aren't working with him.
"Why were you in an out of his estate, then?" Tim asks once he has successfully stopped himself from leaping.
"I'm.. like his ward or whatever."
"What."
If I get 150 likes on this I will make a part 2

i need you to do a deltarune yellow interpretation. I have seen NOONE do anyhting that would do it justice. PLEASE
Gosh, that's extremely high praise! A lot of this art is super old, but I might as well post what I had done for this concept! Lots of rambling below!
In this version/AU, Hometown is a very small impoverished farming community. Despite the recent struggles of losing many businesses to the larger human city nearby, it's still a close knit community of everyone knowing everyone! The Sunnysides own the biggest farm in the town and are very well known by all the residents - especially after Starlo, the eldest son of the Sunnysides, takes in Clover, a young human who wandered into the Sunnyside crops, disheveled and dirty with barely the clothes on their back. Aside from remembering their name, Clover claims to not remember anything else, such as where they came from or why they seemingly ran away from home.
Starlo takes Clover in, but Clover is a human in a town full of monsters that they've suddenly been thrusted into, without the history with one another everyone else has. Not only that, Clover's a bit of a troublemaker (at least in appearances), picking fights with bullies and struggling to connect to anyone. The only other monster they've connected with (aside from the Sunnysides) is Martlet, who is a college student in town. She started out as a babysitter looking for extra cash hired by Starlo, until she and Clover began a genuine friendship! They're besties and hang out all the time.
(Ignore that god awful Martlet design... I tried to make her resemble Berdly and oh god. Regret.)
Eventually, Clover stumbles upon the Dark World, and in it, a strange flower darkener who claims to be the prince of the Dark World. Very quickly, the Dark World becomes an escape for Clover. In the Light World, they're a weirdo outcast who has no friends their age. They feel like they only cause problems for everyone, especially Starlo, who has to work twice as hard in order to financially support them. But in the Dark World, they can be a hero, just like all the cool cowboys in their favorite Western films! All the Darkners love them and praise them as a hero, and Clover gets to rescue them from outlaws and save the day. The more time they spend in the Dark World, the less problems they're causing in the Light World, so it's a good thing, right? Flowey and his people need a hero!
(Basically, the Dark World would be a concept that's already established in universe in Chapter 1. This is sort of meant to parallel Starlo's North Star persona in UTY, because you guys know I love my Clover + Starlo parallels.).
(Bonus for all my fellow Starlo fans) Most of Starlo's time, when he isn't working at his family's farm, is spent doing part time jobs in order to raise Clover. He works part time at the local diner at the beginning of the story, leaving very little free time for himself or his interests. RIP bozo having to take responsibility (Orion and Starlo's dynamic would be flipped here, as Orion is the one with a lot more freedoms. He's a college student Martlet's age, and is very busy with his studies and extracurricular activities that he isn't home often, meanwhile Starlo is saddled with a ton of work).
The real story would begin when part of the Ketsukane family (freshly divorced, sorry) move back into Hometown after living away in the city. Chujin's ex wife Ceroba moves back into town with their daughter Kanako, who is the same age as Clover. The two... do not get along right away, which only irks Clover as Starlo is particularly close to Kanako. Kanako is instantly popular and well liked among their peers, and she might have some unchecked biases against humans she picked up from their father. Maybe journeying together in the Dark World would help them grow closer...?
(Again, please forgive this ugly old style. Was trying to go for a superhero theme for Kanako's Dark World design since she's a comic book fan.)
Some other things I didn't have art for
Dalv is the town's librarian! He's also on good terms with Clover, but he's also a bit of a reclusive and doesn't interact with people much.
Chujin was living in Hometown prior to Clover showing up, trying to bounce back from his divorce with his wife (it was on fairly good terms, but still, a massive life change). He claims to work remotely for an important company of some sort, but is secretive about the details. While he's well liked by the town, he's also very outspoken against humans.
Ceroba would also be recovering from the divorce, as she was a housewife her entire time with Chujin, and now needs to find herself as well as a career to support Kanako. She moves back into Hometown in hopes of reconnecting with her old friends and to give Kanako a much calmer school environment.
There have been an influx of missing children reports in the general area around Hometown. Strangely enough, they all seem to be young human children around Clover's age...
Also these guys in the Dark World..... Eh, I'm sure they're not important in the slightest.

There's no time to explain who am I, so im gonna show you my own take on Horrortale Yellow.
This au's name doesn't need to be explained, the underground sets in an uncanny ambient after a neutral route in general, but based on Undertale Yellow's timeline, the underground sets in this ambient after a neutral route made by Integrity.
Each area like The Dark Ruins and Snowfall (Lower Snowdin) are based on the horsemen of the apocalypse in order: Death (Ruins), Pestilence (Snowdin), Famine (Dunes/The Wild East), War (Steamworks and UG Apartments), and finally, the last area called "Clover's judgement" can be heaven or hell depending of the route (genocide, neutral or pacifist (NOT FLAWED), where your fate will be sealed if you choose to fight Zenith Martlet, Kitsune Ceroba or Flowey.
Monsters CAN bleed in this au if they arent at a very low HP but still damaged, if they lost all their HP they turn into dust normally along with the blood.
I dont have enough energy to explain every character's deep lore on this au, so im gonna say their general characteristics:
Clover is 10-years old, they escaped from home and fell from a mountain on accident, without having any bandages or any gun, they have to dodge every attack to not to die. They fell in a flower bed that had spines on it, making them lose a part of their vision and getting hurt, leaving them with a very low HP permanently at the beginning.
Dalv is a REAL vampire this time, he will try to attack Clover no matter if theyre friends or not, but Dalv knows is better for Clover to leave his house for their own good if they want to survive. Dalv is selectively mute and has vampire urges that need to be satisfied. He lost a horn in a fight that he doesnt remember.
Martlet lives in Snowfall where there is a fungus infection that was born after the dust mixed with very cold snow on trees that made a fungus live on fruits and honey panels. Martlet is infected and a bit hungry, but she would never attack a poor child. She's vulnerable to cold and diseases, she's is in the late-third phase of infection where fungus take place on her physical body and cant fly.
Ceroba lives in the dunes where everyone fights and eat themselves to survive, concluding on cannibalism and blood, everyone is hungry and will attack anyone who steps on the area. Ceroba has a scar on her left eye like Clover and has insomnia to protect Kanako and Chujin, who are alive but need to be feed. She has SEVERE problems with Orion (Starlo's brother).
Axis was created after Integrity's neutral route where The Integrity Incident never happened, Axis serves as a doctor and emergency robot, when he was closed in the Steamworks, the Steamworks and UG Apartments summerged on war due to being trapped by their own creators. Axis is mute due to his "radio" being damaged, he is a pacifist and tries to help Clover until Clover and Ceroba wrongly attack him.
I will drop more information later, but these are the most important ones. The others who I didnt included (Decibat, El Bailador, Starlo, Orion, along with others) are secondary or important to a specific character's development. Here are the old designs, some of them stay the same and others changed a little bit or generally.

Dr. Wilson’s bleeding heart: Chapter One
Dr. James Wilson X reader
Summary: Y/N is a talented geneticist, working clinic at Princeton Plains-burro for a chance to work near the world renowned Gregory House. What you never expected was to fall head over heels in love with his best friend, Dr. James Wilson.
Which of course isn't an issue until House's obsessive nature decides that you and Wilson's relationship is its next fixation, putting a strain on your relationship that you never could have prepared for.
Working clinic duty at Princeton Plains-burro was bittersweet. Working with patients was always rewarding, gave you a sense of accomplishment and a bigger purpose outside of yourself. But ultimately it was never completely fulfilling.
You are a geneticist. Hardly a roll to condemn you to hours a day in a free clinic. Before you accepted this job you were leading a study on treatments for Hypophosphatasia, a metabolic genetic disorder. Your aunt Snow, one of the closest family members you had, had passed away from it far to soon for your liking, Sparking your passion for treating it. Sometimes you question why you walked away, but you know ultimately it was for the greater good. Because of what drew you to Princeton in the first place. Dr. Gregory House.
Of course he didn't just have an available spot on the team, he was known to be stubborn in who he hires and from the sounds of it, hasn't hired anyone new in years. All you've managed to get from him so far is a few passing, boob glances in the hallway, never having the courage to actually walk up to him. The head of the diagnostics department. Although diagnosing HPP isn't the issue, it's how to treat it, it's a puzzle nonetheless. And puzzles, as you've heard, are Dr. House's specialty. You would work up to House eventually, you can wipe a few more noses for the greater good.
The first four days took some adjusting but you got into a groove with things, and then one day that groove was thrown off in the best way possible.
————————————————————————
"I'm so sorry that I've delayed your briefing for so long" said Dr Cuddy as she beckons you to follow her out her office doors. "I've had a bit of a crazy week and usually we hire people in groups, so I guess it must have slipped my mind. You've probably explored the clinic by now" she points.
"Yes very well" you reply shortly with a smile. You can't pretend she doesn't intimidate you just a little bit, but you try to act cool nonetheless. You follow her through the seemingly endless hallways of the hospital, passing patient rooms, conference rooms, offices. With a formal introduction to each department head in the building, just in case you ever need a consult. You were looking forward to your formal introduction to House but when you and Cuddy got to his office, he wasn't there. Cuddy sighs, almost as if this is exactly what she'd expected, but she quickly moves on.
"Okay, last introduction of the day," she breathes, "I'm sure you're tired of shaking hands by now"
"Oh I don't mind at all." You reply. "I'll take shaking hands over sticking a needle in a squirmy five year olds arm"
Dr Cuddy gives a polite smile at your futile attempt at a joke (great job) , knocking three times on the door at the end of the hallway. It reads, "Dr. James Wilson; head of Oncology"
"Come in" you hear a male voice call from the other side. Cuddy proceeds to open the door.
"Hi!" You say as you enter. The first thing you notice is his dopey little smile, a welcoming smile at that which is more than you had received from the other doctors who were no doubt busy filing pointless paperwork. He had short but flowey brown hair, dark brown eyes, and the cutest smile lines that outlined his cheek bones. "Wow he's cute" you think to yourself.
"Hi I'm Dr. Wilson" he replies, reaching out his hand to shake yours. You noticed his sleeves were rolled up halfway, highlighting his muscular forearms.
You shake his hand. "I'm Dr. (Y/L/N)"
"Dr. Wilson is the head of oncology, he is actually one of the most reliable department heads we have." Said Cuddy.
"Well it's so nice to meet you, I'm a geneticist by trade but I'm just doing clinic work for now" you say, probably smiling a little too widely.
"Oh a geneticist, that's interesting what's your main field of study?" He replies with a seemingly genuine interest in his tone.
"HPP, I was previously exploring different methods of treatment to slow down the degeneration process" you reply, excited to speak to someone who actually cares about your work. It feels like forever since that's happened.
"That's wonderful, maybe we could discuss it sometime I'm curious what avenues you've been taking with that." He replies.
"Of course, I'd love to talk about it" you reply, a little too quickly. You've been told you get a little too excited about your work.
"Sorry to cut this short but I have some paperwork I need (Y/L/N) to fill out before my meeting at two today" Cuddy interrupts. You were so excited about someone asking about your work you kind of forgot she was even there.
Wilson gives you a little smile and a nod. "Well it was great to meet you Dr. (Y/L/N), I'm sure you'll fit right in. Don't stress to hard about the first couple weeks"
"It was nice to meet you to Dr. Wilson." You reply with a smile. You've follow Cuddy outside and just like that the cute oncologist is on the other side of the door again.
————————————————————————-
The rest of the week passes, then two weeks, then four. You thought clinic work would be a little more exciting than this, but what else would you expect after working exclusively with a rare genetic disorder and being downgraded to runny noses and headaches. It would probably be easier if you had made literally any friends, but your coworkers aren't the chattiest. A little polite small talk here and there was nice, but didn't feel enough to help your regret of moving.
At this point the most exciting part of your day was the brief few moments you got passing Dr. Wilson as he left for the day. He typically got off work an hour before you did, and you decided that you would take advantage of that fact. After all, polite small talk was still polite small talk, but he seemed to have a genuine interest that the others didn't. He seemed to care about what you had to say.
"Dr. Wilson!" You call as you see him pass by Cuddy's office.
"Hey (Y/L/N), how's your day going?" He replies, leaning on the clinic welcome desk.
"Pretty well, for some reason we have an unusually high amount of broken bone admissions today" you smile. Maybe an inappropriate response in this context, but that hadn't crossed your mind.
"Yeah that happens sometimes. One time when I was working clinic, I had four consecutive patients come in that broke the exact same arm, that was weird"
"No kidding?"
"Yeah that was a rough day" he chuckles. Eyes fixed on your face. His demeanor almost seemed tense, like there was something he wanted to say but couldn't.
"I could use a few less of those, I've already had six overtime hours this week, I've barely had any time to work on my paper"
"Oh yeah how is that going by the way, you never got back to me about it"
"Well coming along slower than I hoped but I'm actually very excited about it. I decided to focus on enzyme replacement therapy with asfotase alfa, and how the clinical studies are often misinterpreted as showing higher success rates in children, when naturally children just heal faster in general because of their developing immune systems"
"Dr. (Y/L/N)" one of the clinic nurses calls out your name sounding disgruntled.
"Oh I'm so sorry I forget you get off later than I do" Wilson says apologetically.
"Oh don't worry about it, I got caught up in talking about my paper again, don't worry about it. I'm sorry for talking your ear off" I chuckle nervously. Nothing more embarrassing than getting yelled at by your boss in front of a cute department head. "I'm coming! Sorry, paperwork" you call back.
"Well I'd love to listen another time" Wilson replies with a smile.
"I'd like that to" you reply smiling back. "Have a good night Dr. Wilson" you turn to walk away. You expect him to do the same but he just stands there for a second.
You get no more than five feet away before he calls "How about over dinner?" You turn your head hopefully, your heart fluttering a bit in your chest. He looks nervous, anticipating a response.
You realize you're just standing there awkwardly so to break the tension you say, "I'm off in an hour" Wilson looks relieved.
"Perfect. How about Giovanni's at eight?"
"I can do that, sounds nice" you reply, trying not to sound like you've been waiting to see him outside of work.
"See you tonight" his smile widens as he walks out the front doors.
Is this a date? What if it's just business and you're misinterpreting the invitation? Maybe he really does just find your work interesting and wants to hear more about it. Hell, maybe he's gay. You don't want to get your hopes up, but you are more excited about tonight than you would ever admit.
Just one more hour of clinic, and he's all yours.

UTY ANNIVERSARY DAY 1: Favorite Character
(BRO, IT'S BEEN A YEAR???? HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!?)
So, I've been chronically on AO3 for quiiiite a biiiiit and it's come to my attention that there are a lotta good authors on there! So, I figured, what better way to show some appreciation than to sketch out some of my favorite UTY fanfictions that relate to said favorite character God,mywristhurts—.
This isn't really listed in any particular order, because I cannot in good conscience rank them all because I love them for different reasons. A brief review will be given for each story, so I hope you'll indulge me in this unwavering hyperfixation caused by this stupid neural virus who has yet to leave my brain why are they still there—
HERE THEY ARE! (Reviews are at the bottom so you can enjoy the art—)

(This was not on Ao3, but I added it anyway—)

CSO: What I enjoyed most about this take is how it deals with the consequences of Clover choosing their life over their mission. It is a conflict of interest for everyone involved, especially themself, and one can only handle that external (and internal) pressure for so long until they finally break.
JiB: Who woulda thought just being a liiiittle bit curious could cause a lot of development for our main cast? It's a fine blend of wholesome family moments and a lot, and I mean a LOT, of dying and Flowey ruining everything. It's honestly been fun trying to see what the domino effect is.
RtF: Slow burn, complex relationships, reconnecting of characters, and the wonder of a new life for two lost, revived souls. This has everything I enjoy out of a story and more. As I am not only a sucker for Kanako and Clover interacting, but also watching friction between characters, how it happened and why, and what eventually leads to something greater down the road. It's a beautiful read <3
DJ: Chara and Clover have a dynamic that is genuinely fun to explore, and I enjoy the banter these two have in this work a lot. They aren't friends yet, buuut, maybe they'll start to grow on each other. As long as Clover's alright with getting their body hosted from time to time—
(CURRENTLY ON HIATUS)
UB: I am a simple person. I see Clover & Kanako, I click—
It fuels my euphoria in ways I can't describe, they're so wholesome ;v; Between this and the lingering tension between Clover and Chujin, and the overarching conflict of interest, I am more than excited to see where this goes >:D
UTDR x DR: Jesus, take the wheel, but, like, what if it did—?
I just remember scrolling through YT and suddenly this came up on recommended and I just remember being baffled by the ending. Now there's a multiverse apparently, when did that happen?
I almost hate how invested I got in this very NOT series, but I find it hilarious out of context, which only makes it better—
Intervention: This one's a rollercoaster, man.
Don't think I've said "ow" in a fanfiction before reading this one. It's more than just Martlet dying, but the buildup to what leads to this point and the brutal aftermath is what makes this so strong for me. It's a dosage of pain, but it's well written, dangit—
SWM: I was close to adding "Calling Out to No One", but this tops it only because its longer, really. And provides a HEAVY DOSAGE of pain. I felt my heart ache like it did first seeing Pacifist, man, it hurt—
I enjoy a lot of DiamondDeputy's takes on the default scenes from all the different routes of UTY (they somehow made the worst scene in the game bearable, how'd they do that—) so this easily climbed to some of my top favorites, I especially love the insight on the journey through Ceroba's perspective, really helps drive that conflict of interest I love a lot.
ASoJ: How bad can housing a murderer of at least fifty people truly be? It's not like they'd have any ulterior motives or anything, noooo, that'd be silly!
It's another story with a conflict of interest. Between Martlet letting her good heart win over reason, and Clover seeing just what their violence has truly caused, it had me waiting for the moment where everything would crash and burn for everyone involved. And boy, did it burn.
(How we have pain in pacifist and wholesomeness in geno is a constant that is beyond me—)
Fo2T: Aand, finally, the story that started it all!
An action packed, fun filled adventure of dubious dealings and chaotic consequences featuring the most dysfunctional trio to ever grace the Underground.
So many developments, story wise, character wise, I ended up binging this story way too fast, and I'm probably gonna have to read it all over again—. I'm excited for it though, Frisk (Chara) and Clover eventually meeting, the memory dilemma getting attention, and Clover f i n a l l y getting their hat back (very important, a staple, really)
It feels like I'm watching a shonen, the way I'm invested in it sometimes. I've screamed over it way too much XD
(The fact that it took 20 chapters to get out of Hotland is honestly hilarious tho—)
If you somehow ended up down here, then I implore you to check these out for yourself, form your own opinions on them, and brace yourself because Blind is VERY long (but very worth it)—
#utyversary#clover undertale yellow#kanako ketsukane#ceroba ketsukane#martlet undertale yellow#flowey#chara dreemurr#frisk undertale#monster clover#undertale yellow#undertale#yeah I've got no idea who my favorite character is it's hard to tell really—

slightly-unhinged-but-not-as-unhinged-as-other-theories theory:
i saw a comment on YouTube Wondering if susie would keep being friends with the real Kris when/if she learns that she's really been friends with the Kris under control of the player
that made me wonder about what would ralsei or susie do if they found the soul by itself (or if kris could even take out their soul in the dark world, as we haven't seen that yet) (not counting battles or the shadow mantle related scene cause' the soul isn't exactly in the dark world by itself)
i thought that susie would panic like she does when she realizes what gerson is in the light world in ch4, and have no idea what to do with the soul, cause' i imagine it's like just seeing a moving functioning organ outside of the body lmfao
i thought that ralsei would panic initially, and maybe have a moment with the player with ralsei either just talking to them as a one-way convo (depends on if we would be able to respond via options, perhaps can't cause' i'm imagining ralsei physically holding the soul), or explain something that kris can't know, and then ralsei would carefully take the soul with them to find kris to put them back lmao
but then that made me think
do darkners have a soul?
does ralsei even have a soul?
even though they're objects, is it because they don't have a soul that they can't be in the light world?
what if ralsei could use kris's soul? i imagine they won't absorb it, cause' i imagine you require to actually have a soul in order absorb a soul, like you're fusing them together temporarily
if ralsei took and used kris's soul, would he be able to visit the light world?
ik it sounds odd, but think about it: it's been shown that the dust of a monster in a dark world can "revive" them if the lightner knew them enough, therefore resurrecting a monster without a soul
monsters are made of magic, i imagine darkners are too because no way are dark fountains not magic, so like, is it just a soul that separates lightner monsters and darkner monsters?
think about flowey; they're just a flower if you kill them when they're not in possession of a soul, but they're the result of asriel's dust scattering across the flowers asgore has
ik that supposedly after pacifist ending he turns from asriel back into a flower, although we never see that, we don't see flowey before ending the game, only after (you can find asriel at the starting point of the game tho before you end the Pacifist route)
point is: in the true pacifist ending after gaining at least one soul (well, a significantly larger amount of souls than one, but you get me), flowey turned back into asriel (dreemur god form thing or whatever), and even after releasing all the souls he was still able to maintain being asriel for a pretty unknown amount of time,, and like, what if he kept one of the human souls instead of breaking the barrier? even though he's undead, would a human soul be able to keep him together? it isn't the same as injecting determination into em' cause' he wouldn't have a monster soul anymore, but a human soul, which can handle determination, and even if he is meant to be dead, a single human soul is probably strong enough to keep a dead monster alive if seven of them can turn a dead monster into a god-like being
what if ralsei could take kris's soul, setting kris free from our control, and letting ralsei be in the light world?
what if it's part of the prophecy?
what if ralsei knows, and that's why he's so insistent on doing what "Kris" says, because he knows he eventually gets the soul? trying to prepare himself to have his will taken away, because he thinks of himself as an object not worthy of feeling, especially since his destiny is to be controlled by the player?
what if that's why ralsei is so insistent on having us do good? hoping that when he gets our soul, we won't make him do somekinda terrible thing that the prophecy says?
maybe what susie saw is sumth about ralsei or someone in the party being forced to betray "the girl" by the "cage", whether it's noelle or susie?
and she interpreted it as kris having to force ralsei to fight susie or sumth along those lines? and that's why ralsei apologized so much to susie?
plus she probably laughed at it cause' ofc she thinks she, kris, or ralsei wouldn't let that happen, they're friends!
weird route, it's already kinda happening with us forcing Kris to mentally destroy noelle, maybe we force ralsei to do something to noelle once ralsei takes the soul, or make her cast snowgrave on the knight who is definitely in the holiday family,
but normal route, maybe a misunderstanding happens and susie thinks ralsei taking the human soul is him betraying them both by, well, literally taking kris's soul,
i still believe that who "the girl" is depends on what route, cause' either way, the prophecy will happen the same way, whether it is susie or noelle that is betrayed by the soul, and ralsei knows the prophecy and what will happen no matter what route you take
buuut, from what we've seen, the prophecy doesn't say what happens after, and so i don't think ralsei knows either
maybe when everything is over, ralsei can take the player/soul, and can hang out with the free version of kris, since ralsei definitely likes the soul, and often seems to be referring to the player even when they say kris, heck maybe even Kris isn't aware of the player and just think this soul thing is just a parasite made to control them that they unfortunately need
anyway, that's basically it, me being delusional and hoping the poor depressed goat boi can get his happy ending with the player he is destined to be stuck with, whether we are nice to him or completely mean to him
please toby don't hurt my boi even more than he already is

*kicks down the deltadoor*
We are "The Angel" of Undertale and Deltarune lore and we always have been.
I think I've cracked it. I have a new unified Deltarune theory and I am discarding one of the foundational, day one, linchpin theories of the fandom in favor of it.
Ever since the end of Chapter 1, it has been the prevailing view that the SOUL inside of Kris is not their own, but *us*, the player, just as it was in Undertale. That Kris is not at all in control of their actions, and they are only free to be themselves when their SOUL is out - which is to say, when we can no longer control them - and hence we are the true villain of Deltarune.
And given how little we knew in Chapter 1, and even in Chapter 2, this made sense. It makes sense that this theory has persisted for so long. It fit the implications of Chapter 1's shock ending, but it raised so many uncomfortable questions in Chapter 2's ending that I have only seen the fandom really address one specific way: a blanket "Kris is Chara" theory. This is because the first time we see Kris do something substantial without their SOUL inside them, they go and open up a Fountain in their living room and end up inviting The Knight into their home and nearly get Toriel killed.
But why? Why would Kris do that? And more than that, if we're the SOUL and not Kris, and we're somehow the real villains here because Kris isn't in control when we are, what does it say about Kris that left to their own devices, they would try to kill what little family and friends they have left the *second* we're not able to stop them anymore? That certainly would paint Kris as not just troubled or struggling, but very much evil in the same way Chara was.
But here's the thing. We've seen this story before. This was Undertale's big twist. The player character was never us, it was Frisk. The person we named is known canonically, outside of us, as Chara, a self-proclaimed demon who comes when its name is called. The person Asriel, as Flowey, tries to force us into being is Chara, not Frisk. We're only the villain in Undertale if we do as Chara would have, if we trigger Genocide, if we kill. Because Chara is taking refuge in Frisk's SOUL and has from the very first second they fell into the underground, but they only manage to take control of Frisk and do the evil they want if *we* help them and give them power.
Toby is not going to repeat the same story and the same twist the exact same way twice in a row. No. Everything in Deltarune is an inversion, a mirror, of what we thought we knew in Undertale. Depending on the timeline and how things play out, perhaps it will be more chronologically correct to say it's the other way around. But either way, if this mirror trend continues, then I think the role of us, the player, and how we relate to the story, is also going to be turned on its head.
Which is to say, we're not the ones giving Chara or whatever evil is at play power to dominate Kris' soul, not this time around. We're the only ones able to let Kris *resist* that power, which already has full control over them whenever we aren't there.
I think what we the player are in Deltarune is much more potent and important than the only way in for some eldritch evil of ambiguous origin. I think that might be the case in Snowgrave, or as it is canonically known to the dev team, "the weird route", and that the fact we are choosing to go out of our way to do what this evil wanted in the first place is precisely why this route is supposed to be "weird" because it's weird we'd want to be so evil, but we're intended to be something much greater than that this time around. We're supposed to be the answer to Toriel's prayers for her child. We're supposed to be the manifestation of everything the people of Hometown pray to and worship every Sunday. We're supposed to be The Angel.
The Angel is said to be a bringer of either salvation or destruction. Through the choices we make as players, isn't that a pretty good description of us? There is a lot of angel imagery around Noelle, but that herring is as red as Rudolph's nose, if you ask me. Since when has Toby ever been so obvious and unsubtle about something like that? She might play The Angel in church plays, but The Angel is and was always meant to be us. And we're there for one very specific reason.
Because Kris isn't in control of Kris anymore. Because when they were children, Kris and Catti summoned a demon. Because whatever they managed to call forth, it has taken hold of Kris with an iron grip and is behind everything that has happened since Dess went missing.
We aren't making Kris hurt their friends and family, they only do that when we're not around. We're not the ones creating Fountains and Dark Worlds, Kris only does that when they've vacated their SOUL from their body. I think we are the only way in which Kris can still be themselves and make any positive choices or do any amount of healing at all, because we are the response to all those candles lit and prayers sent up by Toriel. Because we are Kris' guardian angel.
Something very dark is happening in Hometown and it all started with the disappearance of Dess Holiday. I don't think Kris did anything to her directly, but I think whatever dark power they inadvertently invited into this world as a kid is. I think that darkness is hiding in the Shelter. I think Dess in an act of teenage rebellion stole the codes to and entered the shelter of her own volition out of curiosity or recklessness the same way Frisk climbed Mt. Ebott, which is why the Holiday passcode was hidden in her guitar. I think the darkness hiding in that shelter pushed her out of the equation entirely and turned her into The Knight, a body without a will or a SOUL in which it could do its work. And maybe the reason it took Dess was because it couldn't completely take Kris. Not until their family fell apart - something that happened potentially in response to Asgore's failure to solve Dess' disappearance and the stress that put on him, his career, and his family.
I think the darkness took Dess to create an opening for its real target, Kris. I think that's why The Knight, at the end of the secret boss version if you manage to beat it, literally *knights* Kris. Because they were always the intended vessel. But they're only able to influence them when their SOUL is no longer present, when they are empty, when we aren't there to protect them.
Kris was supposed to be The Knight, but isn't. Dess is the Knight, but only as a matter of convenience. If the darkness can overtake Kris, they're a much better vessel for what they have planned. Kris is sturdier than any monster, after all. Humans don't have magic, but their bodies have more physical matter and a much stronger SOUL. That strength might be why Kris lasted so long until their family fell apart, but it might also be why they are the ideal Knight. But a Knight for who? Who or what is this evil force?
Maybe it's Gaster. Maybe it's Chara. Or, maybe Chara *is* Gaster. If Gaster shattered across time and space, then his pieces could be anywhere. He's a monster, so if he dies, Gaster's soul won't persist outside his body. But he didn't die, he fell into his creation and shattered, so his soul isn't gone. But what happens to pieces of a shattered soul? Maybe they turn into new, albeit incomplete, people. Maybe Sans and Papyrus are not children of Gaster in a literal sense, but rather pieces of Gaster's soul, embodying a limited number of aspects of who he once was. Sans is the observational intellect and easygoing or lazy attitude, whereas Papyrus is the bright-eyed childlike wonder and naivety and joy. If the Gaster followers are holding pieces of Gaster but not themselves those pieces, maybe that's why they're grey and removed from reality. But maybe Sans and Papyrus aren't the only embodied fragments. Maybe Chara, too, is a piece of Gaster - Gaster's curiosity, cruelty, and darkness. A monster turned demon manifest.
That's a whole separate theory, but is at least a possible answer as to who or what it is that has control over Kris and the Knight. Perhaps these shadow crystals and the shadow mantle are more pieces of Gaster, the former being small enough to not form their own entities, whereas the latter could exist in certain circumstances, such as in a video game inside of a Dark World. We've seen how the literal dead can come back to a limited extent in a Dark World, so why not somebody who technically no longer exists? Who has fallen somewhere dark and darker and yet darker still?
Regardless of the true nature of this evil, Kris is not in control of their actions when their SOUL is out of their body. They are not in control of their actions when we're not there to watch and, not make choices for them, but allow them the power to completely overrule and resist the darkness. We're not a decider, we're a facilitator. A protector. We keep the darkness at bay so Kris' light can shine. It's not as if we type in the choices we select from - those are presented to us. But by who? The game? Abstract, the usual answer, and possible - but what if they're presented by Kris? Kris is the one making these decisions, plotting these outcomes, we just give them the power to say yes and act on their desires. Because right now, they can't do that on their own.
This is why the weird route is so out of the way and difficult to trigger, why it isn't predicated on choices presented to us in dialogue in the same way as Kris' are, not until we've actually started down the route already. We have to create an opening for the darkness to start asking us before we're fully in league with it. And at that point, if we're Kris' guardian angel, if we are The Angel, then we have chosen to fall and become a demon. We have ignored the prayers for salvation and chosen the path of destruction.
So what then of Noelle the red-nosed herring? I think if the Knight really is Dess - which it is very, very likely to be at this point - then the prophecy Susie saw, the one Ralsei tried to hide, was about Noelle falling in league with the Knight, with her sister, and the only way laid out by the prophecy to save the world is that Noelle must die. This leans in to Noelle's Angel allegory even more by positioning her as The Angel choosing destruction over salvation, but is just another layer of obfuscation - she's not the real Angel. That's why Gerson was so adamant on drilling into Susie in Chapter 4 that the prophecy doesn't need to be unavoidable if people don't want to to be, that Susie has choice and agency. Susie can change Noelle's fate, because Noelle isn't actually the Angel. We are. And Susie can't intervene with us like she can another character in her world.
I think this theory fits Toby's sense of not only world building, and story telling, but also humor, much better than anything else I've seen so far, as well. Think about it. The major world religion featured in Deltarune in which Toriel and the rest of Hometown are true believers in and go to church every Sunday to worship and praise and pray to as characters in a video game is actually us, the player of said video game. Who else would video game characters pray to as a god - or an Angel, as the case may be - than the player? The one who can choose to save their world or throw it into chaos on a whim?
Undertale really was just a test run. This is what Toby's been building to all along. This is my grand unified theory of Deltarune.

i have a theory about Papyrus that i have been thinking about for some time now...
it is about his motives...
at first it seems like his motives are simple... they are that he wants to capture a human and join the royal guard... but after we spare him he kind of just forgets about those...
he then kind of just keeps doing stuff seemingly with no reason...
he calls us to tell us that we should hang out with Undyne...
he calls us to tell us that we should deliver a letter from Undyne to Alphys...
he calls us to tell us that we should check on Alphys...
he calls everyone to come stop the Asgore battle...
we then find out he was doing these things cus a flower told him to...
then Flowey shows up and the ending happens...
my theory is on the reason why Papyrus was helping Flowey...
i think Papyrus has some sort of meta knowledge...
the reason for that is the second X and O puzzle in Snowdin... on the puzzle we have to move to the right to start solving it and when we do that the camera moves with us... and so does Papyrus... he just kind of moves to follow the camera... without saying anything... this could be a game design thing but i dont think the next thing can be explained as such... after the final battle against Asriel we get to talk to the main cast... if we do that then Papyrus asks Asgore if he can be in the royal guard and Asgore says that the royal guard most likely wont be a thing anymore and then Papyrus says "THIS IS THE WORST POSSIBLE ENDING" or something like that... this is clearly a joke but the fact that he joked about something like this means that he is aware of endings... there are other things but for now these are my main points on why Papyrus is aware of these things...
the reason i think this is important is cus i think it gives him a good motive to help Flowey...
they were trying to get the true pacifist ending... well... i think Papyrus was atleast and Flowey was just pretending to...
this would explain many things...
the reason why he does not call Undyne when captures us in his shed... she would send us away which would mean we could not befriend everyone to get the ending...
the reason why he is so worried when we escape the shed... cus something could happen to us and we would die... and there would no happy ending...
the reason why he snitches what we are wearing to Undyne... which was not an accident btw... he wants us and Undyne to meet so that we could become friends... to get the ending obviously...
the reason why he tells us we should hang out with Undyne... so that we could become friends... so the ending happens...
the reason why he tells us we should deliver a letter from Undyne to Alphys... so that they get closer... so that we get closer to the ending...
blah blah blah ending blah blah blah...
i think you get it by now...
i think Papyrus wants a good ending and Flowey helps him with that but secretly plans to betray him...
i think Papyrus knew that Flowey was going to get the 6 human souls and was distracting on purpose... but did not know that Flowey was going to betray him and us by stealing the souls of him and our other friends...
i think the reason why he cried after the Asriel battle is cus he thought that Flowey killed us and it was his fault cus he helped him get the souls by distracting...
i wonder how he felt when we woke up...
i had this theory before deltarune chapter 3 and 4 came out but now that they are out i think this applies to them aswell...
deltarune is said to have only one ending...
and Susie's reaction to the prophecy in chapter 4 tells us it is not a good one...
but...
what if someone could change that...?
or atleast thought they could change that...?
would they not take the chance...?
i think Papyrus is the Knight...
why...?
cus maybe... just maybe... if he plays the villain... maybe... the ending could change...
he does this cus he thinks that he has to...
not considering whether or not he should...
now...
you might be thinking...
"but the Knight is Dess tho!"
while i do think that it is possible that it is her... nothing like this has been confirmed... so i am still hoping it is Papyrus...
"but the Knight has antlers!"
there is some narration that says that the Knight has a helmet and those look like a part of a helmet to me...
"but the Knight has no feet!"
i... i have no idea... maybe it is just a design choice to not include them in the shadow form...?
"but the lost girl motif is in the Knight's theme!"
the lost girl motif is not exlusive to the deer family... it plays for Susie too...
to be honest... i think they both can be the Knight... separately and together... i like the theory that Dess lost her body somehow and is now stuck with Papyrus... cus it would be a mirror to us and Kris... maybe Kris Dess Papyrus are all in on it together and the only one who does not know of the plan they are doing is us...
that is a silly theory but i love it...
i like the idea of the Knight working for Carol and they are trying to get a good ending like Papyrus and Flowey did in undertale but Carol does not actually care about the ending cus she just wants her goddamn daughter back...
i could make theories like this all day but for now we do not have much to go off of...
to be honest i made this post cus i wanted to share my undertale theory and connect it to the "Papyrus is the Knight" theory cus the motives people give him are stupid sometimes...
that is all for now i guess...
see you later...

FORGETTABLE AU PAGES - LIVE REACTION
@forgettable-au Go. Read. It. 🫵
….oh my god.
ok y’know what, i’m not even gonna do my usual summarizing thoughts before going through the pages beat for beat- we’re diving STRAIGHT in.
strictly formatting these is overrated anyway
THE FIRST PAGE!!!
First of all awwwwww I hope we get to see Riverperson again… Flowey resting his head on top of Papyrus’ in the raft melts my heart as well.
For the first bit of dialogue here with Floweys internal monologue- OUGH I LOVE IT! I will NEVER get sick of getting into his head, he’s like us! a theorist! his thought process here is so me.… “ive never thought of the possibility that Papyrus might have been involved as well…” Welllllllll… You’re half right.
Im also looking forward to seeing the part of Wingdings’ story that explains Papyrus’ conveyor belt related trauma- cause cmon man whats wrong with conveyer belts 😭
Papyrus basically having a conversation with himself while Flowey just goes and does his own thing is SO REAL ALSO I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
ALSO LMAO THE BACKPACK IS ACTUALLY THERE- THAT WAS A THING I POINTED OUT AS A JOKE IN THIS POST- funny to know that was just a mistake, BUT IM ONTO YOUR LITTLE TRICKS!!! I KNOW ITS LORE RELATED SOMEWHERE!!!!
PAGE 2
PAPYRUS’ REACTION HERE HAS ME SCREAMING IN AGONY, I DIDN’T THINK IT WOULD GET WORSE- BUT spoilers. it gets so much worse. I mean I- kind of- spoiled it with the drawing at the very beginning….BUT- YOU SHOULD HAVE READ THE COMICS BEFORE READING THIS!!!
GOOGLY EYES PAPYRUS SPOTTED!!!! OHHH I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER and speaking of facial expressions I hate (love) Floweys smug ass in these panels 😭
THE 2ND TO LAST PANEL- OH THIS SHOT BEHIND AND BELOW PAPYRUS IS JUST GORGEOUS HIS SKULL AND JAW AND NECK- ITS ALL SO WELL DRAWN
PAGE 3
Talking about the actual dialogue for a second- trying not to get too carried away only focusing on the visuals.
Im very concerned we’re going to have a moment with the power going out, Papyrus and Flowey being stuck without the elevator just like Alphys and Wingdings were. Some chicanery is gonna happen comparing and contrasting how they handle that compared to the 2 scientists. Ofc thats a lot of speculation- But I cant help but feel like the talk about “the energy hopfully lasting long enough” is leading up to something….not fun.
Maybe what they do down here is a weird time mumbo jumbo that is important to make what happens in the past- happen. Maybe thats why Gaster is watching them…
“You should talk to my brother more!!!” …..I want to disagree- but also I want them to be friends and think they COULD get along
PAGE 4
“That would be weird!!” reference to when you call Papyrus in Alphys’ room….i see what you did there….
Also Floweys logic here about having hisss permission just made me giggle so much LMAO I absolutely love the repeated “Papyrus is hesitant” followed up by “Flowey presenting a sorta??? convincing argument” and Papyrus just being like “…ALRIGHT!”. Very fun and in character for him
PAGE. 5.
When I tell you- this K I L L E D. M E. GOD THIS IS SO WELL DRAWN???!?!?!?! I CAN FEEL THE SINKING DREAD- OOOUUUUGGHHHH THE DETAIL IN HIS EYE SOCKETS!!!!!!!!
This incredibly depicts feeling of sound filling your head- just AAAA IT HITS SO HARD AND IT HURTS SO GOOD.
PAGE 6
“Are you- uh..feeling anything?” Subtle Flowey. Very subtle. Though I love Papyrus’ complete misread of what he’s asking HEHDHE. Yknow, Its a belief among ghost hunters that “cold spots” mean theres a ghost lurking around. HM.
Also wtf are you talking about- Papyrus?? you “sometimes” have nerve endings 😭?? That line is incredibly in character answer for him, but also what?? maybe im missing something obvious. Ough the detail on the hand bone…
PAGE 7
WINGDINGS!!!!!!!! MY GOAT!!!! AND ALSO SANS!!!!! MY SLIGHTLY LESSER GOAT WHOM I STILL LOVE!!!!!!!!!!
God I wonder where this conversation is going to go- wheres Wingdings going with this? is he gonna tell him about the tape?? why did he LIE ABOUT THE CREVICE IN THE FIRST PLACE???? IM STILL HUNG UP ON THAT!
Its clear Wingdings plans on researching timelines because of the tape things, ofc, im just surprised he’s informing Sans about it since he’s proven to want to keep at least some of it a secret. At the very least he seems to really enjoy- controlling information.
Im calling it now, Wingdings is a pathological liar. (bold ass claim especially because he only lied once so far BUT IM CALLING IT!!!)
Also the talking and writing in wingdings here is gonna make me immediately rule out Alphys being involved in this conversation.
IN CONCLUSION!
I am. LOSING. MY MIND. OUUUGHH THE ART JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER, THE PLOT AND THE TENSION!!! IT JUST GETS THICKER AND THICKER. I can promise you, the pages are ALWAYS worth the wait…as a wise man once said…
(the real quote, if you dont know is by Shigeru Miyamoto and replate ‘comic’ with ‘game’)
#forgettable au#live reaction#unfiltered thoughts#that elevator moment will be the godamn death of me#THAT STUNG SO GOOD#im so nervous and excited for Wingdings and Sans’ interaction though about timelines#cause we haven’t had a one on one between them in a HOT minute#im also nervous and excited for like 1000 other things but Tumblr only allows so many tags#….but lemme run out the clock#im nervous and excited for how Flowey and Papyrus’ friendship will develop#same with Alphys and Wingdings’#excited for a potential Wingdings and Asgore interaction maybe? id just love to see them interact and the jack stauber amv gives me hope#also finding out exactly what Wingdings falls into#more Papyrus having war flashbacks#if we will get any flashes back to the surface/escape Flowey and Papyrus’ perspective for a bit?#Wingdings fucking SNAPPING#always excited for that#honestly finding more out about Wingdings in general since he’s the only character sorta exclusive to this AU and not apart of the game#More information about Sans’ perspective on things#also when and how angels/the player comes into all of this like how exactly will he come to that conclusion#how will Wingdingd HANDLE this news?#will more tapes from the future come in?#will we eventually get to SEE those tapes being made??#I think ive said this before but I think Wingdings is gonna handle this news a lot better and somehow worse than Sans#cause we know what he does in the end#but also he seems pretty damn happy when he makes that tape talking about how cool as shit the angel is#but I digress#IM ALSO SO EXCITED FOR THE MUCH AWAITED METTATON CAMEO#THAT IS SAID TO LAST 50 PAGES AND BE IN THE STYLE OF MANGA#dammit i ran out of tags-

Hi!! Does Undyne know Wingdings in this AU? Like what kind of relationship do they have? Or did they not know each other at all?
Also! Does Wingdings consider Alphys as a friend? Or like is he just very professional about it and sees everyone as colleagues? And like does he feel sad if he doesn’t have friends? Cause i know the current Papyrus feels very upset (I think) because he doesn’t have as many friends as Sans or something like that
1- Does Wingdings know Undyne?
Nope! They don't know each other
2-Does Wingdings consider Alphys a friend?
Uh... he's not quite there yet..... but let's give him some time....
3- Is he sad that he doesn't have any friends?
He has friends!!! Like!!!! Sans!!! And!!! Himself!!!
Okay, but seriously, he's not sad about it because he gave up with that a long time ago
It's not something he cares about so it doesn't make him sad, he's not lonely! Sans is there! That's probably enough! Maybe!
Papyrus DOES care a lot about relationships and connections with other people, but he has no experience, he's trying really hard though!!
The fact that he had no clear idea of what he wanted or why he wanted it wasn't helping him either
And yeah it must have felt bad that no matter how hard he tried he just seemed to fail where his brother succeeded without trying
But don't worry! Right now in the post pacifist timeline he's been doing quite good! There's still progress to be made but he's friends with Undyne and frisk, he's been getting to know Asgore, Toriel and many other people, he's still training with Alphys, he's met new people in the surface and he's been hanging out with Flowey much more!
#yippee#I know I talk a lot about how Papyrus is separate from Wingdings but they do have the same core traits (ha did u see what I did there?) they#just went on very different paths#and in the aspect of relationships they both struggled but one gave uo earlier than the other#you can also see it as giving up in the past but trying again on the future and struggling because of that lack of experience#idk#the transition from Wingdings' personality to who Papyrus is is very dear to me I really really want to get to that point in the comic#answered ask
