CHARACTER ASK GAME!!! 💫
Gai -7, 8, 13, 19, 23
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
Good Sensei Gai who interacts with and helps all of his students 🥰🥰🥰 his bond with Neji and Tenten does not get explored enough in Canon and fandom is doing the best sort of work by creating content of his bonds with them 🥰🥰🥰
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Himbo Gai.
I don’t know if I just hate the Himbo label or if i just hate it for Gai (though it might be the whole Himbo thing cuz people do it with Minato who is a genius and thus ineligible for the Himbo title) but Gai is not stupid.
Gai is actually rather intelligent and learns well, he just has limitations to his skills and adjusts his style to work around those limitations.
He’s smart enough to learn how to fight against the Sharingan.
He’s smart enough to figure out who Obito is based soly on Kakashi’s reaction to realizing who he is.
Gai is a very intelligent man! Give him his credit!
13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
Reminds me of Gai: 🐢🐢🐢 cuz he’s such a turtle dork
One i think they’d use a lot: ✨and 👍
19. How about a relationship they have in canon that you don't like?
Ohhh Hard to choose cuz he’s a background character who doesn’t have his bonds explored a lot. Honestly outside of Lee and Kakashi he doesn’t get his bonds explored at all really.
But i would have to say… Neji because i’m still kinda pissy Kakashi catches flake for training Sasuke over Naruto during the chunin exams and Gai catches zero flak for not training his only student who even made it into the finals (i don’t think he actually deserves to catch flak for it, but i do think it’s unfair. Kakashi made a logical choice based on the situation they were in. Gai just… didn’t train Neji for no explained reason)
Also i just think he should have been there for Neji more and shown disgust/anger at Neji’s treatment in the Hyuga clan
23. Favorite picture of this character?

I just find it f***ing hilarious ok 😂😂😂

The clouds are no where to be seen against the dark blue sky, the stars and moon contrasting in a different color. Various shades  ranging from light blue to dark indigo blends together under the streetlights of the compound, the Uchiha insignia stitched to their backs. A faint light glows from the main house, four faint shadows seen through the shoji doors, silent against the bustling noise of children and adults hurrying to come home. The air in the dining room is tense, no tinkling laughs from the youngest nor the fond scolding of the mother to her sons’ mischievousness.  Mikoto Uchiha takes another bowl of miso soup to give her youngest, as Itachi’s chopsticks holds on to a piece of seared fish, Fugaku gulping down water. Sasuke thanks his mother for the bowl before leaning forwards, listening intently to his father’s story. “You need to avoid falling for a Uzumaki or a Nara,” Fugaku murmurs gently to his youngest, as Mikoto smiles. His big dark grey doe eyes stare at them, attention captivated and memorizing every word they spout. Silence descends on the table as he collects his bearings. He knows, that his parents married out of duty, for the clan. He was able to hear it when he passed Daisuke-oji in the clan market, making him question his parents. He later asked his parents, prompting them to explain the arranged marriage, the clan needing an appropriate wife for the clan heir, later on deciding on Mikoto. She would tell them how she missed doing missions, and his father telling stories about their battles as teens. Sasuke was angry at first, knowing that his parents didn’t marry out of love, but the more time he spent to wrap it around his head, made it easier to understand. His brother is always there to clarify it, and they would ask their parents if Itachi can’t explain. They always reassure them, that despite being in an arranged marriage, it doesn’t change the fact they both love them with their whole hearts. His parents try to be subtle in front of him, but he knows. Being an Uchiha makes it impossible to not see their longing gazes, their schooled features masking their pining, their desire to be with their true lovers. They don’t regret having them, always trying their best to shower them with love, that he appreciates. ‘I couldn’t love Fugaku at first. But I learned how, even if I like girls.’ Mikoto smiles at him, ‘Fugaku found a way to be the only exception, he became dear to my heart to the point that it would break my heart if I lose him.’ Despite being the second-born, he’s a prodigy in his own right, sharp senses and lightning fast reflexes. He can see his mother’s discreet glances when they walk through the village’s streets, always trailing after the bright red hair of his aunt Kushina. ‘I love her,’ she once murmured when she was tucking him to bed, his six-year-old brain not yet aware that she’s hinting at the hot-blooded jinchuuriki. The powerful kunoichi was able to take his mother’s heart, with her bright smiles and fierce personality, while his mother aches for hers.   His father, even if he rarely accompanies him, was too obvious for him to figure out. His eyes would soften when he sees Shikaku-san, his frowns lessening and replaced with faint smiles, his cold and distant expression disappearing. ‘Clan heirs rarely get to marry another, after all, they are there to serve for the best of their clan.’ He follows his father’s gaze, seated beside him on the porch as the sun sets, ‘It’s hard to oppose the clan for your own desire. Clan heirships can be passed to the second-born, although, Itachi already took it. So promise me Sasuke, fight for whoever you fall in love with.’ He stares at his parents grim expressions in front of him, the names Shikamaru and Naruto unspoken, their gazes heavy on his shoulders. He breathes out heavily before nodding. “I’ll try not to.” he ducks his head, as Mikoto sighs at him, before deft fingers ruffle his hair. “You don’t have to force yourself not to. As long as you try.”  They’re only looking out for him, Naruto being the only heir of Uzumaki and Shikamaru as the only child of the Clan Head.  Mikoto claps her hands, before Itachi huffs in amusement, as they start cleaning the table. He wanders to his mother’s side, helping her with the dishes, earning him a fond laugh. Fugaku rolls his eyes before leaning on the doorway of the kitchen, watching the matriarch piles the plates on the sink as Itachi and Sasuke splashes each other with suds and water.  He was 8 years old when his cousin was rescued by Tsume Inuzuka in the river barely breathing, one of his sockets empty.  He was turning 9 when he arrives in their house with his parents were killed in front of his eyes, his Sharingan activating in his horror, the vision being imprinted in his mind with clarity, while his vision blurs with tears. He screams when his parents drop dead in front of him as the hooded figure runs out the window, scrambling to keep his parents alive. He cauterizes their wounds, trying to stall their death as his hands get covered in his parents’ blood. His chakra spiked hard, being sensed throughout the village as Itachi runs full-speed to the compound, Kakashi on his tail as they both sensed the abrupt spike. It was two weeks before his birthday when he is looking blankly at the white wall in front of him, dried blood flaking off his fingers as Itachi paces in front of them, his masked ANBU teammates murmuring faintly by the door. He doesn’t spare a glance when the door opens in haste as he stares intently at the sparkling marble of the floor, the memory repeatedly showing up in the forefront of his mind.  His brother was unapproachable, jumbled thoughts and distracted, while he’s detached, unresponsive as Minato shakes him out of his stupor, worried blue eyes staring back at him. “Sasuke, calm down, deep breaths. Focus on my breaths.” he follows his uncle’s breathing, the exaggerated breaths and counting making it easier to follow, as Kushina wipes off the blood on his trembling hands. He leans back on the chair, trying to calm down his pounding heart, as Kushina soothes him, kissing his temple. Itachi is being held by Hound, his brother still against the arms wrapped around his shoulders. Kushina tucks his head under her chin as she rubs his back, the Uchiha in her lap feeling numb. Shikaku burst open the doors as the medical-nin walks out with a grim expression, “We tried to stabilize and resuscitate. Unfortunately, they have passed away.”  Sasuke’s blood runs cold, as he chokes on a breath, staring down on his shaking hands. Itachi falters, staggering to his brother as Sasuke climbs on his lap, crying. He schools hisi features to hide his grief while he comforts his brother, burying his tear-stricken face in his Sasuke’s unruly hair.  He was nine-years-old when he blows bright red flames beside Itachi on the pyre, clouded onyx eyes watching the flickering flame. He doesn’t have anymore tears to shed as clan members kneel around them, making him lean on his brother on support as they let their hands drop, standing there until the flames turns to ember. “You need to avoid falling for a Uzumaki or a Nara.” he distantly remembers as he walks alongside Itachi back to the house, ignoring their sopping wet clothes. Sasuke links his fingers under his chin, averting his eyes to the window to hide his pained eyes. His knuckles turn white as he senses two males settle beside him, staying quiet and reserved as Naruto talks loudly with Shikamaru, watching them from the corner of his eyes. He hides the twitch of his lips as Naruto plans the prank on their sensei, Shikamaru scolding the blond for even attempting the ridiculous idea.  The door opens, making him glance at it tiredly, only to see Kakashi. He clenches his eyes shut, before following them out the door. You need to avoid falling for a Uzumaki or a Nara. He chuckles deprecatingly, hopefully it doesn’t resort to that. "Since it's your birthday, how about you pick the place for lunch?" Cue pause as Obito is given the sensei-standard look of behave before he returns his gaze to Kakashi, "Then we can discuss that jutsu you were curious about..."
Tumblr media
"Ne?"
[Verse of your choosing. Demo, I had 'Icarus' in mind since it's pure chaos ^^;
The Hatake didn’t react much to the invitation thrown his way, attention fixed on adjusting the wrapping about his ankles, the ends of the trappings discoloured and frayed - no thanks to a wayward fireball jutsu from Obito. Grey hues narrowed as a spark of annoyance ignited in his chest at the thought of his teammate and how much more /work/ it was to dodge his attacks now that he had awakened those eyes of his. Plus, Kakashi never really cared much for birthdays, the day like any other, save for the fact that he was now a year older. He did pause once his sensei alluded to his new jutsu however, the thought of getting Minato's input on how to remedy the tunnel-vision; quenching any and all irritation he might have felt a beat prior.
“…Really?”
He blinked up at the other, lips thinning underneath his mask as he considered his options.
“…Then…I want Imagawayaki, with an eggplant filling.”

Late
Hachirou stood at the bus stop, staring at his shoes. Dry flakes of mud caked the edges of his bright white sneakers. He frowned from behind his thick sunglasses and let out a sigh. Hachi knew that if he timed it right, he could step out before the inter-class sparring competition , get to the bathroom, and-.
“Kah-kah-kah-kahchuchuchu!”
A layer of mucus coated his shoes, turning from a stark white to a faint manila. Umeko snorted loudly, shaking her head slightly. Hachi looked up at her slowly, then and back to his shoes.  She followed his gaze .
“…I’m sorry.” She said, seemingly receding into her hair. “I-I know how much you want to lo-look good for these school events. With your family and everything…”
Hachi adjusted his sunglasses and put on a neutral expression.
“Nothing to worry about, I can clean them later. Besides, it’s about what we do, not how we look, right?” He said, giving her a small grin and running his hands through his bushy hair.
Umeko looked up and parted her frizzy hair slightly.
“He’s so cool… ”, she thought to herself.
“DammitDammitDammitDammitDammitDammitDam-” He thought to himself.
“…where the hell is the bus.” Hiro finally muttered, looking up from his dark hoodie. He scratched at his dusty skin, the white dust igniting slightly. Umeko and Hachi had practically forgotten he was there and stood uncomfortably.
No one said anything for awhile before the silence was broken by a loud *chirp*  and Chapu landed beside them. His cricket legs nearly sent him flying again as his antennae twitched sharply, surprised to see people at the bus stop.
“Whew, oh geez, I thought I missed the bus *chirp chirp*.”
“No, we’re still here. The bus seems to be running late today-ay-ay-chuchuchu” Umeko said, letting out another burst of sneezes.
Hiro squinted at her and then at Chapu.
“…don’t you typically hop to UA early. You could’ve gotten a bus to the event fields from there too.”
Hachi looked up, stopping himself from tipping his glasses in intrigue.
“Well, uh, the clock in my room was off a bit so I overslept. *chirp chirp*  Actually, every clock in my house seemed a bit off. Even my phone.  *chirp chirp* “
“Huh,” Hachi muttered, pulling out his phone. “My dad said his watch was running a bit slow, my mom’s a bit fast…”
They all looked at eachother.
“Umeko, hand me you pho-” Hachi barely said as something roared over head.
“Was that a jet?!?  *chirp chirp* “ Chapu said, looking around wildly, hopping in place.
“I-I think that was Kosuke,” She said, fear creeping into her voice. “But that can’t be right, he-he-he has a rocket quirk, he should’ve gotten to school awhile ago-oh-oh-chuchuchu!’
A second later Yuzuki slid by with her frictionless quirk, followed by Shiro riding a wave, Nariko punching the ground to send herself flying with a shockwave, Takuya scattering his rocky body with a shrunken Rei riding his bits, and a number of other students riding a chain linked fense Riko was levitating with her control over metal. Finally Ago’s large shark-like body lumbering through, angrily swatting at the fearless Daitan who had hopped on her back to hitch a ride. all the students with non-movement quirks were running after the rest of the group, putting their sensei’s cardio training into practice. Their entire class was practically running down the street.
The four at the bus stop looked at each other before wildly sprinting into the street. Chapu quickly lept into the crowd while Hiro ignited the white phosphorous on his skin and launched himself into the air like a missile. Umeko and Hachi pumped their legs trying to keep up with the group.
As they entered a tunnel, Hachi tore of his sunglasses and the tunnel was filled with a large white light. Ago barely managed to miss crushing a few of the students as the light came on.
“SORRY SORRY, THANKS HACHI!” She said, her voice practically booming in the tunnel.
“Yea, yea, don’t mention it, now can someone tell me what the heck is going on?!” Hachi yelled to anyone willing to answer. Akira ran up beside him, her red-triangular pupils reflecting brightly in his light.
“As far as we can tell, around midnight everyone’s clocks just stopped making sense.” She said, covering her face slightly. Hachi squinted.
“Did it only happen to our class? Is one of the other classes trying to screw us over today?”
Minato looked over at Hachi, Umeko, and Akira, his third eye looking between them.
“I sorta know, I looked at a couple of the clocks and our phones. I can see a bunch of people walking into our houses and changing the time. I can’t make them out, but they definitely aren’t students.” He said, almost a bit too proud of his deduction.
“Damn!” Hachi yelled as they left the tunnel. “Damn, damn damn, what are we gonna-”
“Don’t sweat it,” Ryouta said, the tendrils on his chest doing most of the leg work. “Palm-Sensei goes on ridiculously early jogs and is probably already at the UA training fields. He’ll buy us time and we’ll get into the inter-class sparring competition no problem. Isn’t that right, buddy?”
The parasite on Ryouta’s chest grinned slightly.
Hachi grimaced but nodded.
“Yeah, Palm-sensei hasn’t let us down yet-”
Aleksey laid in bed, snoring loudly, his Aura Palm costume on an ironing board. Christian peaked into the room and grinned.
“I am such a good friend.”
“Wait a min-min-minute.” Umeko said, holding back a cough. “Does anyone know how late we actually are?”
They all stopped and looked at each other.
“Uuuuuh-”
“THREE HOURS!?! YOU DELAYED ME BY THREE HOURS!?!?” Aleksey yelled as he stuffed himself into his costume and shoveled beans and coffee into his mouth.
“I was supposed to have woken up and been at UA three hours ago! I’ve practically neglected my class for two hours and the inter-class sparring competition started nearly an hour ago! I’ve missed the class assembly and I’ll be lucky if I even make it to the sparring-”
“Relax, ‘Aura Palm-sensei’”, Christian said jokingly. “Yeah fine, it was dumb of me to forget that when ever I make a duplicate things they have like digital clocks don’t work. Yes fine, they consistently got the wrong time…on every clock in our apartment. But hey it’s daylights savings time, so you still have an hour till the competition starts, okay?”
Aleksey glared at Christian.
“I’m gonna head to UA to give my class some tips before the competition. And if I see any ‘Synergy’ dupes, I’m smacking the hell out of them.”
Aleksey stomped out the door and down the stairs, and aura of anger practically oozing out of him. Christian sat back in the apartment and turned on the television.
“I’m an…okay friend-”
*stomp stomp stomp STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP*
Aleksey kicked in the door.
“Japan…doesn’t…practice daylights savings time YOU STUPID ASSHOLE!”
Christian sat up.
“Oh…right…”
“Well,” Aleksey started, rubbing his eyes. “At least my students are going to be at the competition on time.”
“…Yeah, see, funny thing about that-”
“Wait a minute, what are we doing?” Hachi said, as they got to UA.
“Oh!” Jaehee said, a faint buzzing filling the air as she snapped her fingers. “No one’s at UA, they’re all at the competition.”
“No-well, yeah-but I mean what are we doing running? Samara can tear through space, she can just portal us all to the competition!”
“Oooooooooooooooooooooooh!” The rest of the students said in unison.
They stood there quietly, waiting.
“So, where IS Samara?”
“ALRIGHT ALRIGHT! LETS GET THIS GOING!!!” Present Mic yelled to crowd. “CLASS 1A AGAINST CLASS 8C! BEGIN!”
The small,baby-faced Samara stared on as the mass of students from class 1A descended on her.
“…I wasn’t even supposed to come to school today.”

So, Minato Sama. You've just been given the Hokage position. What's the first 5 things on your official hokage agenda?
Sama? Cue a sheepish grin. What makes you think he has an agenda?
Tumblr media
He has a list. In categorical order.
ANBU ANBU assignments - members, as well as missions - are assigned directly by the Hokage. In the Hokage's absence, the defacto lead is assigned to a trusted aide. During Minato's term, that is Nara Shikaku. There should be no interference from any of the councils unless the Hokage specifically requests it. Also there's this matter of the ROOT division he's looking into. It's a redundant idea. Who the heck came up with it, again? 🤔
Konoha Ninja Academy The Konoha Ninja Academy has been following the same structure since the Nindaime's reign. The times - and frankly, demographics - have changed since then. They need an updated entrance test and assessment methods, as well as a streamlined curriculum that includes introduction to fuuinjutsu.
Hokage Guard Platoon An elite platoon comprised of shinobi handpicked by the Hokage. The purpose of the platoon is to act as an escort unit whenever the Hokage has to travel beyond the village's perimeters i.e., to another village or to the Daimyo's palace. The 'kage' is seen as the strongest shinobi of a hidden village. However, that does not make them infallible. The guard platoon exists to ensure that there is a statistically significant chance of the kage returning to the helm, irrespective of the scenario.
Civilian protection reforms Reforms aimed specifically to protect civilian rights to trade and collaborate with other civilians from friendly villages. Konoha, although a representation of Hi no Kuni's militia, has a sizeable civilian population. Said civilian population dabbles in trade and farming which, if utilized and fostered, will decrease the village's dependence on its shinobi for bringing in funds.
Village Ambassador Program (pending external approval) In the wake of the third shinobi war, the need of the hour is to form better bonds with the victors (as well as the losers). One way of doing that is through Chunin ambassadors who can periodically act as a means of cultural exchange. If this works well enough with Chunin, the program can be extended to include civilian entrepreneurs (in conjunction with #4).

Minato's thoughts when he realized he was going to be a father?
Let it be known that when it comes to parenthood Minato wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He didn't have any parents, and the closest thing to a father was Jiraiya who also happened to be an active shinobi on the roster.
So here's a mini snippet:
Tumblr media
"I have nothing left..."
A voice edged with loss, knuckles white from grasping the handle of the tanto blade. Light hues stare at the bloodied grass where pieces of her comrades lay like broken ceramic.
"Curse you" -- she breathes a whisper as a shadow engulfs her small form. She barely has time to turn before the cold tip of a kunai pierces her throat. Trembling digits rise to grasp at the handle while her lips continue to move.
"Curse you " She gasps, head angling to meet frigid blue hues the only way she can "--curse all that share your blood. May you feel the pain of all the deaths you've caused over...and..ov-"
Gurgle. Swish. Thud.
Minato flicks the blood of his kunai as the severed head of the kunoichi stares listlessly at him from the grass. Dull eyes spare her a glance before silently trudging towards the other chakra points tickling his peripheral.
K̴̛̜̕͝ö̶͖́n̷͍̜͗͑͑ȯ̸̫̕͜h̸̥̎͊a̵̪͎̿͆̇ ̴̦͚̘̓n̷͉̓̚͜o̵͎͙̒̈́̂ ̴͍͔̮̋̈Ķ̴̹̮̉i̶̧͕̞͝i̵̢̾r̵̨̟̍̓́ó̴͕͚͘i̸̢͈̾̔̕ ̶̭̾̈́͘ͅS̵͕̭̥̊̒e̷͔͎̊͗̿n̷͇͍̏k̷̓̚͜͝ō̵̮̙̔̍͝ Pause. Minato blinks, before turning back. The kunoichi's severed head is staring back at him, lips twisting to form words.
K̴̛̜̕͝ö̶͖́n̷͍̜͗͑͑ȯ̸̫̕͜h̸̥̎͊a̵̪͎̿͆̇ ̴̦͚̘̓n̷͉̓̚͜o̵͎͙̒̈́̂ ̴͍͔̮̋̈Ķ̴̹̮̉i̶̧͕̞͝i̵̢̾r̵̨̟̍̓́ó̴͕͚͘i̸̢͈̾̔̕ ̶̭̾̈́͘ͅS̵͕̭̥̊̒e̷͔͎̊͗̿n̷͇͍̏k̷̓̚͜͝ō̵̮̙̔̍͝
Minato instantly takes a flash step back. Ink bleeds from her eyes and bubbles from her hair. Two horns emerge, followed by tendrils of shadows and dusted color, marked sigils of a language lost to humankind.
K̴̛̜̕͝ö̶͖́n̷͍̜͗͑͑ȯ̸̫̕͜h̸̥̎͊a̵̪͎̿͆̇ ̴̦͚̘̓n̷͉̓̚͜o̵͎͙̒̈́̂ ̴͍͔̮̋̈Ķ̴̹̮̉i̶̧͕̞͝i̵̢̾r̵̨̟̍̓́ó̴͕͚͘i̸̢͈̾̔̕ ̶̭̾̈́͘ͅS̵͕̭̥̊̒e̷͔͎̊͗̿n̷͇͍̏k̷̓̚͜͝ō̵̮̙̔̍͝
The head is gone. The reaper shifts its prayer beads to another palm, its eyes bottomless pools of miasma. Timeless. Immortal.
And for all his speed, Minato can't move. Eternity stares back at him with thinly veiled amusement before removing the dagger from its mouth.
K̴̛̜̕͝ö̶͖́n̷͍̜͗͑͑ȯ̸̫̕͜h̸̥̎͊a̵̪͎̿͆̇ ̴̦͚̘̓n̷͉̓̚͜o̵͎͙̒̈́̂ ̴͍͔̮̋̈Ķ̴̹̮̉i̶̧͕̞͝i̵̢̾r̵̨̟̍̓́ó̴͕͚͘i̸̢͈̾̔̕ ̶̭̾̈́͘ͅS̵͕̭̥̊̒e̷͔͎̊͗̿n̷͇͍̏k̷̓̚͜͝ō̵̮̙̔̍͝
The Yondaime awoke with a start, hand grasping at his chest where he could have sworn the Reaper had stabbed him. Frantic blues search for the specter in the dark before a tug at his fingers bid him to breathe.
Breathe. He can make out the shadows of the window sill before his vision slips to the comfort of the stars swathed by shades of blue and purple. He counts each flicker of light under his breath until he can no longer hear his heart race in his ear. Swallowing against his dry throat, Minato raises one hand to his sweat-soaked forehead.
This was the third time he had seen the same dream - no, nightmare. Except the kunoichi was new. The chakra, the blood and the weapons had all felt so real.
And the reaper --
"I'm going to be a mother ttebane!" "And I'm...really going to be a father!"
Ever since Kushina had told him about her pregnancy five days ago, he had been getting nightmares about the reaper killing him in some way or form. He had talked to Inoichi about it, of course. The Jōnin  had simply reassured him that his dreams were related to stress -- most likely about fatherhood, since that is when they had begun, before pointedly adding that it 'served him right' for reading the scrolls Kushina had told him not to touch because they were forbidden, potentially cursed and definitely terrifying.
Considering how the probability of being haunted by the Shinigami was as high as Jiraiya sensei declaring a chastity retreat that lasted the rest of his life, he put more stock in the former. And honestly - who was he kidding? He didn't know the first thing about raising a child. Sure, he had some experience with children - he had taken on a Genin team when he had been promoted to Jōnin, but that hadn't exactly ended well. Two of his kids were dead and the only way to ensure the third didn't end up the same way was to assign him to the ANBU unit under his direct command.
Point being; where he could be entrusted with the safety of an entire village, he could hardly take care of those who mattered most to him. People he loved just kept...slipping from his fingers.
"I'm going to be a mother ttebane!" "And I'm...really going to be a father!"
And by kami, did he want to be one. He wanted to be one so badly. He wanted to start a family with the woman he loved most in the world but was he even strong enough to be able to protect them--
Cue a forceful inhale at the thought, as if the action alone would banish it. Now was not the time to ruminate over his fears. Maybe there were just...unfounded fears. The wars had just ended, they were in relatively peaceful times and there would be nothing to worry about unless someone mucked up - and as the Yondaime, he would not let that happen.
Iie, not just as the Yondaime. Minato raises his hand to wipe the telltale wetness at his lids, only to be met with resistance. Cue a light snore, before dainty fingers tighten around his.
"--stupid fox 'ttebane." Kushina mumbles in the dark. It pulls a faint smile to his lips and he squeezes back, almost as if in reassurance.
He would protect his family. No matter what the costs.

Why couldn't Minato tell Obito was the masked man? Things would have been so much better if he had!
Hm...well, no one expected Obito to survive getting squished by a boulder. However, if you mean why Minato couldn't tell the masked man was Obito despite being a sensor, I reckon it's because Obito's body comprised of different material from before.
Chakra is a form of life energy, ne? Its signature is unique to each individual. By the time Obito - the masked man - came to the village to release Kurama, nearly half of his body comprised of Hashirama left-overs and white zetsu matter. His chakra signature hence, would have been altered and foreign to Minato, the sensor. Logically, there is no way he could have known the masked man was Obito.
At least, that's my (short) take. More on sensory types and Minato as a sensor here.
Add on: Someone recently pointed out to me that during the 4th Shinobi War, Minato was only able to identify Naruto's chakra due to Kurama - I don't discount that one bit. However, I would push back by saying that it wouldn't make sense to disregard his previously exhibited sensory abilities based off that alone. There isn't enough evidence.
To each their own, ne? 🐸

“Tou-San should have been Hokage. Not a flake like you.”
Blink. Tan digits pause over the 'no-exit' list, while blue hues exchange a curious look with the KMPF chief before shifting to the shadow behind him. Fugaku looks equally confused, before glancing over his shoulder at the young Uchiha.
From his vantage point, Minato can only see the top half of little Sasuke's face; spikey hair framing narrowed charcoal hues, as if they could set his hair on fire through sheer force of will.
Maa maa, the chibi must have learned that word from Kushina when she kidnaps babysits the Uchiha duo. Poor kids.

What's the one thing chunin Minato wanted for himself?
"Chunnin, ka?" Cue a contemplative hum. He eyes the steam rising from his tea while the chatter of academy students and adults fill the air. As a newly minted Jōnin and a representative at the open house, he had been asked all sorts of questions - how many missions did he have to complete, did the job pay the bills (the answer was 'barely'), and how he managed to keep his hair the way it was (by one of the adults).
Yet this was the one question he actually had to think about.
"I wanted more time."
Tumblr media
"I developed my jutsu because I had time and opportunity to experiment with fuuinjutsu at the outpost during the war" He begins, tan digits pulling a three pronged kunai from his weapons pouch as if to elucidate "I made a lot of mistakes in the process and could never really work on some of my failed combinations because I was always being sent out for recon or infiltration."
The glint of metal catches blue hues as he eyes the fuuin on the handle before his gaze shifts to the academy student. "In our trade, we barely get enough of it, ne?" The weapon is promptly deposited back to its holster, "Spend it wisely while you can."

Hi CI! I read your headcanons and I gotta ask why you think Minato should be yamanaka and not senju. Wouldn't him being senju make more sense?
To be blatant with you, dear anon, I thought Minato being part Yamanaka made sense due to two reasons: his sensory abilities and his blond hairs. I blame the manga for not having enough blond individuals around.
Another, more selfish reason is that it really peeves me off with how OP certain clans are over the others. The manga doesn't do justice to the other clans that make up the village - I mean, if the Uchiha and Senju were that powerful, they wouldn't need the others. Each clan has its own significance and tracing Minato's routes to the Yamanaka is kinda like...a tribute to that idea. I wanted a Hokage to be from the fringes; to show that you don't need a kekkei genkai to simply be 'it' ya know?

^ an illustration of my valiant attempt at diversifying the pool. I have a lot of lore in my notes and I'll publish it soon. Thanks for the ask, anon.
P.s. A part of me really likes the idea that someone from a non-dazzly-clan broke the system, albeit for a little while. Lol he dies in a year.
A. Year.

"Namikaze-kun, I heard you speak about your choices of future Hokage. You spoke glowingly about Fugaku and Shikaku. You never once even mentioned me. Ouch, I'm wounded~" Orochimaru was full of darkness, and today, also full of teasing.
"Maa maa, you hardly need my endorsement Orochimaru...san." The words slip off his tongue while fingers twitch at the corners of the scroll. The ugly red '改訂' perhaps the sole legible piece of writing on parchment.
Yare yare.
Now Minato wasn't one to complain when it came to his precious students, but when it came to their mission reports-- kami, he could barely tell one stroke of ink (or was it a doodle?) from another. With a sigh he sets the open scroll on the table before pulling a blank roll of parchment from the rack next to him. Their report was beyond repair; he'd simply have to draft a new one, submit it and then lie about it to his students so they could practice their writing skills.
This wasn't the first time he had to do this - and it most certainly wouldn't be the last. The thought pulls a short exhale from his lips before blue hues flicker to the senior.
"Besides, you know how unreliable the grapevine is." Cue a whimsical grin, "Ne?"
