i have officially gone off the rails, here's some good resources lads.

1. Adblockers.

Why are adblockers so useful on tumblr? Well, you can use them to block and zap certain elements (such as that annoying clown). You can get them on almost any browser, although I'd personally recommend Firefox browser :O

uBlock Origin is my adblocker of choice, but there are plenty out there that do the job too.

2. XKit Rewritten

While I personally don't use this, it has lots of features for accessibility, ease of use, etc. for tumblr. It's a browser plug-in on multiple browsers I believe.

3. Dashboard Unfucker

You will need Tampermonkey plugin installed on your browser to use this (which isn't too hard to do). This changes the dashboard to the older layout (the one that DOESN'T look like twitter). There's customizable settings too.

4. Custom Dashboard Themes with Backgrounds

You will also need Tampermonkey for this (linked above in the previous). This lets you make a custom dashboard theme complete with custom colors, custom background, etc. Be sure to read the info fully to know how to edit it!

Not a single "trending" of today has more posts than #free palestine, but it is no where visible.

I know it's broken, but it is something that it should be fixed because the truth is Tumblr has no idea of what is or is not trending right now.

Please, fix it! And add at least #Palestine to the "Things we care about".

Alright @staff @support do you need proof? This is the bulls—t I’m talking about. Same format with the same style of enticement photo and profile emojis for every bot, every single time. For all I know they could be AI generated. Either way it’s GD annoying that you use an “opt out” system where we have to accept followers first, then block the bots, rather than asking us to APPROVE a request to follow them being able to turn it down before they even start. @staff @staffs-secret-blog @tumblrbot @tumblr Who do I have to talk to to get you to do something about this f—kery?

I hate Tumblr man. It took me 30mins. 30mins! Just to post the last post I did. It kept fucking crashing and all my writing kept getting deleted. I think I rewrote shit 3 times. Literally so annoying. I need somebody to fix the app. Like make it faster and better.

what the fuck is this ui design.

like, seriously. there is more empty space on the left side of the screen than not. can't you scale that up? not only is it incredibly obvious and dumb looking, it's also a problem for people like me who don't have very good hand-eye coordination (or whatever the screen equivalent of that is) and as such can spend several seconds relocating our mouse cursor to press buttons the size of a carpenter ant.

my father works in ui design. i know these things. lordy lordy lordy lordy, hire some actual ui designers. not people who look at this and think it's perfectly fine.

and while you're at it, fix the rest of the site too?? please?????

Reblog to save a laptop Tumblr user’s life.

I am going to release this custom stylesheet so you guys can use it now. It removes a whole bunch of annoying things from Tumblr that sensible laptop users such as myself absolutely despise. One of them is the stickiness of the navbar, but it deals with one or two other problems too, which currently I don’t know how to explain because so much time has passed by since I wrote this code. I made it myself. I know it’s not perfect, but this code has spent the last twelve months making Tumblr’s design extremely way more tolerable for me. Without it I’d be suffering hard on this website.

Please note that this stylesheet’s removal of the navbar assumes that you use next/previous button page by page basis. The way it gets rid of the sticky header is going to cause bad synergy with your way of browsing Tumblr if you use “infinite scrolling”.

But it is fairly easy to edit the stickiness of the navbar back into the code if you do want that, if you’re willing to do a bit of brisk trial and error.

The issue is that Tumblr obfuscated its variable names by making them absolute gibberish. So you won’t find descriptive values in code like “main-navbar” or “annoying-piece-of-shit-recommendation-bastard” these days. You find absolutely counter-productive shit that’s designed to make your coding task hard. That’s why it has to be trial and error. I can’t remember which class is which.

This also assumes (for the time being) that you know how to use Internet browser plugins that mod the stylesheets of websites, such as Stylus. Personally I believe I can recommend Stylus. It definitely works in Firefox.
