Ch 196: That Butler, Associating
The new chapter is out in Japan and is a whopping 18 pages including the cover. (See my full summary/translation and analysis here.)
I have only skimmed it so far, but there are some important moments and revelations, one of which is so big I’ll put it below the cut in case you don’t want it spoiled.
I can’t promise a full translation before the official one, but if I can I’ll post later.
Text on the cover says:
Lemon cake, Lemon Tart
“The first is a cake and the second is a pastry, but they’re both sweets???”
This chapter confirms Doll is indeed a bizarre doll. It’s possible Doll is an “older” model, more like Real Ciel than Layla, because Doll collapses and pushes Snake away, crawling off to be alone as it’s revealed how desperate Doll is for a blood transfusion…
Please be respectful and do not steal my translations or screenshots without credit. Tysm.

Today has been a day , and even though the chapter is out in Japan I don’t know if I’ll make a post about it this month, especially since someone already posted the chapter cover.
It’s another brief chapter, about 12 pages, and it does not have Ciel or Seb in it despite the cover art.
Instead, it picks up where last week left off, with Snake being the one who finds the motley group. He sends his snakes in search of Ginny, and Finny gets closer to telling him about Doll.
I haven’t even had a chance to look and see what this chapter is titled yet lol. 😅 If it’s an interesting translation like some we’ve had I may make a post later.
Don’t steal my ss please.

Will Snake Choose Finny?
Note this post has spoilers for the current arc, especially ch 205.
The biggest question of this arc has been once Snake learns the truth about the circus troupe, which side will he pick?
The time for him to make that choice is approaching, and I have some thoughts.
After finally finding out the truth of the fate of the circus troupe in chapter 205, poor Snake is faced with a terrible choice: side with Doll and help get revenge against Ciel for killing his previous “family,” or stick with Ciel (and Finny), his new family—especially now that he knows Doll is effectively already dead.
I think Yana may have been hinting that Snake will pick Ciel and Finny. Why?
Firstly, Snake makes it clear that he and the snakes consider Finny and the other servants his family, and speaks of them all being footmen, which to me implies just how much they’ve been accepted by Ciel and Sebastian.
But that’s not all. In this arc, we met a new snake—Jonathan.
Jonathan is the one who found the hidden entrance to the underground lab, and what’s more important—he is a rattlesnake.
Why is this significant?
Rattlesnakes have hemotoxic venom. In other words, venom that breaks down red blood cells—it destroys blood.
We know that bizarre dolls have few weaknesses, especially the more advanced models, but ones like Doll and Real Ciel still require regular infusions of blood in order to continue to function.
While most snake venom would probably have no effect on a bizarre doll, hemotoxic venom could potentially destroy them (if they can, in fact “die” again), if not disable them until they can be given a new transfusion.
I think it’s unlikely that Yana would have introduced a new species of snake now after so many chapters for no reason.
It’s possible that they may end up using this to their advantage to give them a leg up in the fight against Undertaker. For instance, having Sieglinde develop a poison that has similar properties to the snake venom that they could coat their weapons with, to give them a more even chance.
But this isn’t the only reason I suspect that Snake will pick Ciel’s side.
All of Snake’s snakes are named after writers from the UK, and while we can’t say for sure who Jonathan is named after (as that’s a common enough name), it’s possible he’s intended to be named after Jonathan Swift.
He was an Irish writer and satirist, and one of his most well known pieces is a very biting essay called A Modest Proposal, in which he proposes to solve the problem of the Irish having too many mouths to feed by having them sell their babies to the rich as food. (It is a commentary on how the Irish were seen as less than human by the English; he wasn’t actually suggesting people do this.)
While we still don’t know exactly what or how Undertaker is using the orphans, or why he’s had them dissected into parts, the horror of using children as “food for the stars” isn’t too far from the world of Swift’s famous work.
Considering how carefully Yana sets things up, I think it’s hard to ignore these details, though if she follows her past habits, we may be launching into flashbacks next month and may not know how this will resolve for several more months.

Ch 205: That Butler, Panic
The chapter is short (only 13 pages plus the cover, with a two page spread toward the end), but full of drama. The shit finally hits the fan and Snake learns what really happened to the circus troupe and what Doll really is.
My summary translation follows. Please be respectful of the work and money I put into these by not reposting without credit.
The chapter begins where the last left off, with the orphans, Finny, and Snake finding Doll being given a transfusion of Canopus blood by two of the human workers.
Snake asks why Doll looks in this condition, and the workers try to explain it away by saying Doll is getting a medical procedure for an illness.
But Theo calls them on their bullshit, saying they’re lying, recognizing the label that says Canopus on the blood Doll was getting.
He accuses Doll of being a star lord.
One of the workers basically challenges Theo back, asking what their intentions are and that they’d better think carefully before responding, while pulling a gun on them.
She fires, and Finny springs into action, protecting the orphan clones and getting hit in the shoulder in the process.
He yells at them to run, and they do, but Doll picks up a shard of glass and does a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon leap and springs over them, cutting off their escape.
Doll says now that they know everything, they won’t let them pass.
Snake is so shocked he speaks as himself, asking, begging for Doll to tell him that it isn’t true, that they aren’t a star lord.
Doll apologizes to him for lying, and says of all people, they didn’t want Snake to know the truth about them.
“I’m a monster,” Doll explains. “That night at father’s, I died. No… I was murdered. By Ciel Phantomhive.”
Doll explains how father (Baron Kelvin), Joker, and their entire family were killed like insects, and then recounts in graphic, sardonic detail how everyone died:
Wendy and Peter were hunted down and shot like prey by the maid;
Beast (and Dagger) were dredged in flour and deep fried alive;
And Jumbo was even worse— his guts and head were pulverized by the gardener.
On the final page, Doll tells Snake he’s been tricked into working for their enemy, and urges him, as family, to join them in getting revenge against the Phantomhives.
The chapter ends there, so we’ll need to wait for next month to see how Snake responds…! This also means that Undertaker must have seen what happened that night, and either told Doll or inserted it into their records….

Ch 206, That Butler: Sorrow
Ch 206 is out in Japan and…. it’s something. 20 pages including the cover.
I’m a bit too “wobbly” rn to do a proper translation but….
The gist is this: (graphic violence below the cut)
Finny finally tells Snake the truth about why the troupe was killed, which causes him to lose it momentarily. The matrons attack, but the orphans are prepared and turn the tables.
Only for Doll to acrobat over them and attack one of the orphans, but at the last minute, Snake jumps in front of them and is slashed instead, to Doll’s horror.
It… does not look good for Snake.
Please respect my time and money put into these translations and do not reuse my content without credit.

I like the thought of Elizabeth dressing the servants trying to make them look adorable but Snake doesn't mind. He actually feels attractive and pretty.
She dresses up the snakes too.

Snake has a forked tongue 🥺🐍
I won’t be doing a translation this month, I’m sorry, but I can tell you that Snake’s flashback begins here, and we see the circus troupe again, which is kinda heartbreaking…
The chapter is 18 pages including the cover and the official translation should likely be out tomorrow.
