Not strictly a Murderbot thing, but I went to a symphony concert in the park last night, and the final piece they did was Ode to Joy.

BUT they had advertised ahead of time that anyone who plays an instrument was welcome to join them on that last piece. They even provided sheet music and added vocals for the third repetition to let any audience members who wanted to sing about "community and raising their voices in unity" join in.

This meant that for the last song of the concert, people in the audience were pulling out their own violins and cellos and tubas(!), and the music was coming from every square foot of that park. Music teachers from the local schools volunteered to spread out through the crowd and help conduct. It was the coolest collective performance I've ever seen, and it gave me all the Preservation vibes after the fact. It feels like exactly the kind of thing that would be sponsored by FirstLanding university, that any or all of PresAux would attend, and that Murderbot would have Emotions about.

A silly short fic...

When MB, ART, Ratthi, and Gurathin play a game of Cluedo

When Amena started at PanSystem University of Mihira and New Tideland (PSUMNT) , Dr. Mensah, Farai, and Tano wanted to come and see her settle down. Arada, Overse, and Bharadwaj had a workshop to run so they could not come, but Pin-Lee, Ratthi and Gurathin came. They had been invited to join a project at PSUMNT, and Pin-Lee has been finalising their contract.

There was a two-hour break before the next meeting, and Ratthi suggested we take a look at the library. The PSUMNT library is much larger than the one in the FirstLanding University on Preservation.

ART has a copy of a large portion of it, but mostly what it and its crew consider relevant to their missions. Others expressed desire to visit some shops – things available on New Tideland being very different from those on Preservation – it was just Ratthi, Gurathin and me who went to the library. (Of course, ART came by default.)

There were media booth, periodical collections from multiple systems, archive storage, non-digital materials section, and more, on multiple floors. I downloaded books, music, and some documentary videos that I have not seen before. I have also managed to scan some of the non-digital materials, tagged for later sorting, and stored them. (ART moved some of these in our shared storage space so that I don’t have to delete files in my archive to make more room.)

At one point, Ratthi called me and Gurathin over to a little room off the non-digital game section. He held an old-looking rectangular box with images of humans standing around with what is generally described as mystified expressions.

“Look what I found.”, said Ratthi, excitedly. “It’s a physical boardgame – I have heard about it in historical material, but never seen one like this!”

Gurathin looked at it with his usual sceptical expression. “’Cluedo’? Find clues and solve a case?”

ART said, Cluedo is an old board game of deduction and strategy, originating from the Earth. Players take on the roles of characters investigating a murder mystery in a mansion. Through strategic movement and deduction, players gather clues about the suspect, weapon, and room where the crime occurred. The game involves collecting and eliminating possibilities through questioning other players and exploring various rooms. Ultimately, players make accusations to solve the mystery. Cluedo combines elements of logic, deduction, and suspense, offering a dynamic and engaging experience as players race to uncover the truth behind the murder mystery.

Gurathin looked startled, but said, “Thank you, Perihelion”, politely. He is still not used to ART hanging around our feed. As an augmented human with advanced feed interface like Iris, he has more in-feed awareness, but don’t forget ART is monster. It can hide its presence when it suits it and surprises humans with sudden comments. I know it’s doing that on purpose.

Ratthi said, “I want to play it. For anthropological research, of course.”

Gurathin sighed, but agreed, knowing that Ratthi can be very insistent.

Ratthi: Alright, let’s get started. SecUnit, you can go first.

Me: Why do I have to be Professor Plum?

Gurathin: Because you’re the one most likely to hack the system and solve the mystery in two turns.

Me: Fine. I’ll move to the library.

ART: Do you suspect anyone yet, SecUnit?

Me: Not really, but let’s say… Professor Plum with the lead pipe in the library.

Gurathin: The rule states that you’re not supposed to suspect yourself.

Me: Rules are stupid. It’s a valid strategy.

ART: I concur

Ratthi: This is going to be a long game.

(after 6.5 minutes)

ART: Based on the current data, the likelihood of Colonel Mustard being the culprit is 75.27%. I suggest moving to the dining room.

Gurathin: Great, now an advanced machine intelligence is predicting our moves. This is supposed to be a game, not a strategic simulation.

Me to Gurathin: Do you think you can stop ART?

ART: That would be tremendously brave - or stupid.

Me: These are synonyms in humans.

Gurathin: *Sighs audibly*

Ratthi: I’ll just stick to my hunches, thank you very much.

Gurathin: I suspect Miss Scarlet with the wrench in the conservatory.

Ratthi: Nope, not even close. My turn.

Ratthi: I suspect Mrs. Peacock with the candlestick in the ballroom.

Me: ART?

ART: According to my calculations, there’s a 91.45% chance that the candlestick is not the murder weapon.

Me: Alright, I think I’ve got it. Colonel Mustard with the rope in the study.

Gurathin: Are you sure about that? That seems unlikely.

Me: ART?

ART: I concur with SecUnit. The data supports this conclusion.

Ratthi: OK, let’s check the envelope.

Ratthi: Well, looks like SecUnit won.

ART: Of course it did. It has solved real-life cases of dead humans.

Gurathin: Please don’t remind me.

Ratthi: Next time, we’re playing something that doesn’t involve deduction and strategy.

why are your OCs incompatible with ninjago

just wondering cos I’ve seen you mention it before

This one’s been sitting in my asks for a little while, and I’ve been struggling to answer it because there’s no short answer I can give (though I can try to put a TLDR at the end).

It mostly sits with the fact that elemental mastery is something that exists in my lore (because it exists in the media that inspired my storywriting. Which spoiler alert, isn’t Ninjago. If you’ve known me, it’s TLoZ that’s been my biggest catalyst. Some Pokémon too, but less than the former).

Specific elements are important to specific parts of the story. It’s not random, and an element that someone can control is more than just a weapon.

Take my character Khiena “Andy” Medellin. He possesses the power of the storm, lightning. Which is significant because 1, he comes from a completely different country and that’s why both his power and Urbosa’s Divine Gift could exist at the same time. 2, he uses his ability to create Lightning Glass, a very important material that his clan uses for crafting resources. It’s an important part of what he contributes to his people.

Or Kohga, the man seemingly as old as time itself, leader of that previously mentioned clan. Having the powers of water wasn’t just by random choice. He is a deity, the god of spring. His abilities reflect bountiful crops, lush greenery, melting snow. And since his clan lives in the desert, he represents their life. As you know, in a desert water is the most important thing you can have. The rivers in his clan’s territory provide them with hope. So long as he stands, so will his brethren.

Don’t even get me started on Lady Valeriana. One of the only known deities of the Firstlands to still be alive. Her ice powers hold an incredibly important role- to keep the god of plague, the one she so triumphantly fought thousands of years ago, at bay (which is actually a real world reference about undiscovered diseases and antigens being potentially everywhere in regions where the ice never melts). She also is the goddess of serpentine and I’m pretty sure you can figure out why I’m not going to try and untangle that.

TLDR: I have too many incredibly important aspects of the characters that conflict with the Ninjago lore, and to remove them just for the sake of slapping them into a fandom would pretty much make them generic and bland. Not to mention left with impossible-to-fill gaps.

It was easier to just take the three-ish characters from Ninjago that I like and put them into my works and fanworks.

the city smelt of gasoline and smoke .  a world she once knew has been completely changed due to the advances in technology , and she researched everything to fit in with the people . shurima was no longer surrounded by the beautiful dessert , but full of building and billboards that offered the latest tech suit . there was no longer a need for a judicial system as the nations united as one . this was not her home , she was not ready to accept such a thing .

creations built by the zaunites were normal , the advanced weapons built by the piltovians were now acceptable to the people . a world once fueled by war found peace and she`s supposed to stand and be okay with it all . her orange visor was brought down to cover her eyes , and she walked among those she once saw as an enemy . the blade given to her has been upgraded to fit well with the others that may wish to engage in a fight ; that`s something she wish would happen on the daily . 

day by day , she walks with her head hanging low . platinum hair rest over her shoulders as she avoids any contact with those that have intentions of speaking to her . she cannot live within` a world where proving one`s worth is no longer accepted . the mercenary was once feared by those who stepped onto shuriman soil , but now they only value her as some sort of joke . how humiliating .

So she frowns. “You are so... very angry,” Neeko says matter-of-fact, and darts a quick circle around Pyke. “Neeko thinks the costume is cool, though! But how are you gonna make any friends like that?” She stands straight once she’s face-to-face with him again, and examines his face. She brings up two hands to frame it, and tilts her head. (Truth be told, she’s not sure that the framing does anything—she caught the gesture from someone in another city, a long ways ago.) "And what’s with the fabric? You would look better wth a smile. Not all care, never will care, never will return,

Not all want good for you, and not all will ever have your back, nor will stand and do what is right - therefore, always be truth - as you awaken it is vital that you know everything is energy and it will affect you - energy is entanglement - the mixing of energy, intention, direction, focus - those that play with and abuse energy will make things even more confusion, harmful, and why knowing yourself is so profound to remain healthy and balanced regardless who you allow in your energy - life, and share your life force with.

~ Karma is karma - it is the will of you, uniquely, bravely, regardless of the all around you showing you less than, and conformed violence, disrespect, corruption - be more! You are the way shower - your karma is the path being constantly laid before you - and it is never easy, always challenging, because you choose this for yourself to be loving no matter what, and share the blessings that is eternal life, honour of sacredness and the gift of God in all moments - it is never easy - the most loneliest times is when you truly know

The akashic records are sacred stories of your growth and only to you - Your records are pure and precious between you and GOD none have the right or authority to mess with - your records are for you!

Be discerning and continue your inner work, threading, and practice.

- GOD IS and that is all you need

Like Stars mentioned in her post, there are definitely Patterns to be Noticed when going back to review your own work, and the biggest pattern I'm seeing in mine (aside from two-word titles) is that I never ever draft in chronological ever. Or even if I have what I think is going to be the beginning of a fic written, that may change before it gets published. And since my list is mostly WIPs, it's making this game a little more complicated than expected! 😅
