tobin and you met in the deliverance and tobin knows that if it wasn't for it, a guy like him would never even lay eyes upon a noble such as yourself

of course, he was attracted to you right away, though knew you were out of his league and didn't get his hopes up

however, tobin swore to himself that he'd keep you safe, always staying by your side in battle and taking countless hits for you

the two of you fought side by side a lot and it helped you get closer to each other, but most of the time together was spent after the battle, with you treating his wounds

seeing how kind you were, to a peasant like him, tobin only fell for you harder and became more and more reckless while protecting you

after every battle, you scolded him and told tobin to stop getting himself into danger for you

but the message only really got through when one time after a battle you were crying by his side, telling him that you loved him and didn't want to lose him

hearing that you loved him was a surprise, but tobin comforted you and told you that he loved you too and that he'd stay by your side forever, so you had nothing to worry about

despite you being a noble and tobin just a village boy, nobody disapproved of your relationship! 

it was clear to see how happy you two made each other and that was all that mattered…

Another year, another new set of pride headcanons based on a FE game I’ve played! This time around, we’ve got Echoes, but if you want to see Awakening, Fates, Three Houses, or Engage, they’re all here. As I’m still experiencing the game, there are potentially points where I might be slightly off-base, but hey. It’s all for fun anyway, and I’m perfectly happy to update things if I notice there’s any changes.

Brain no worky, so special of the day at our fine establishment is a well-aged classic piece from my fanfiction.net days. Now with a fresh coat of paint!

Fire Emblem Heroes really had my entire soul in a vice back in 2020, so when a Valentine's Day event featured Shadows of Valentia characters... Well, that was it for me. Crack ship brain rot has left the station. Toot toot!

The resulting story is one of my favorites, and I think it still holds up with a pass for grammar and verbiage. So give it a look!

“Right, uh…” He throws out his hand, the sudden motion making Genny flinch. “I’m Tobin. Deliverance soldier, mercenary for hire. All-around cool guy.”

His goofy optimism breaks some of Genny’s guard. She giggles as she takes his hand.

“Genny,” she nods. “Novis cleric. Daughter of Mila. And, I suppose, novelist of some capacity.”

“A lovely one at that.”

Rather than shaking her hand, Tobin pulls it toward him so he can politely kiss the knuckle of her middle finger.

It's a cheesy facsimile of a chivalrous gesture, especially coupled with the enthusiastic grin he exposes as her hand departs.

Yet… She falls for it.

With the obsession Echoes has with confirming characters got married and/or had kids, it's kind of the fact that Tobin remains single for the rest of his life that feels to me like the nail in the coffin for him not liking women. There are other characters who don't have a relationship mentioned in their ending card, sure, but they're either people who seem pretty LGBTQ anyway or are devoted to some other cause in life (magic, religious work, etc.) It's somehow weirder that Tobin would supposedly have a crush on one girl once at the age of 17 and then get over it instantly and never like a girl again.

Idk maybe I'm reading into things because I already headcanon him as gay. I wouldn't say the evidence is overwhelming or anything but the reading is there

I've been (re)playing SoV for friends and, seeing as most of them have great taste, Act I consisted of 1) gushing about Tobin, 2) making fun of Alm, 3) rolling our eyes at Alm's... everything (as well as Faye in general) and... Did I mention gushing about Tobin? Anyway, the result is this silly meme:

despite gray pursuing lady clair, he couldn't help bringing up how pretty you were to tobin, who was already well aware of your beauty! 

still, knowing that even gray, who was with clair, was so smitten with you gave tobin a confidence boost

he still thought you were too good for him, but knowing that despite that, you stayed with him made him really happy!

reason: Childhood friends. Tobin is supposedly "upset" by the fact that Gray has been chasing after Clair because he supposedly also likesher, even though Clair literally doesn't even like Gray back?! Suspicious. Eventually he decides to "get over" the fact that he doesn't have a chance with Clair and focus on his "best friend" which is like. Wow. Tobin at least likes Gray but I hope Gray likes him back.

Gray x Tobin is literally so slept on (though it's not like, unpopular) and I think it's probably because they're literally just two teenage boys with teenage boy problems who do teenage boy things together. But for me that's part of the charm yknow? Me personally, I like how they're just Guys I Went To High School With. They're just so real. Grounded. Lend themselves well to modern AUs because there is literally nothing you have to change.

I'm now realizing this is kind of just about their characters in general but like!!! I ship them okay!!! They're like those loser classmates who keep acting gay with each other and you always suspect something but you don't say anything about it. And they're so real for that. I wouldn't even say they're soulmates or made for each other or anything, they very much just give somewhat messy queer awakening high school situationship that they don't fully figure out until separating for college and THAT'S OKAY!!! I love that for them!! They're just so normal and their relationship is only barely influenced by any fantastical elements and I find it so charming.
