The Return of Queen Míriel Þerindë [WIP]
by Sassy_Snarky_Sarcastic
"Míriel is ready to return to us! She will be reembodied in a few days." Fëanáro staggered against his wife, who quickly steadied him with a concerned stare, her own brown eyes wide. Findis, Nolofinwë and Lalwendë froze in shock, while Finwë and Indis smiled serenely, as if they had not just pulled out the proverbial rug from under everyone's feet. "Mother is... she is coming back?" Fëanáro whispered, his voice small and disbelieving, yet his grey eyes full of hope. Nerdanel squeezed his hand in silent support, digesting the news herself. ° ° ° When seeking counsel from the Valar, instead of accepting the rules of old and denying Míriel the chance to ever return to life, Finwë and Indis advocate for change and propose an equal marriage between more than two people. Míriel agrees, but continues to rest in Mandos and her son still resents his father's new wife and her children. Yet, all their lives change, when, as Fëanáro and Nerdanel expect their first child, and Finwë and Indis their fourth, Míriel decides she wishes to walk among the living again. Can she stitch her fraying family back together?

Prompts 2022 Fest - Week 7
Austen-esque Regency AU
Rating: Not Rated
Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Regency, Humor
Prompt: The House of Fëanor is a noble family down on their luck (but stubbornly inhabiting/maintaining the family manor.) Fëanor in the role of Mrs. Bennett is trying frantically and without dignity to secure an upswing in the family's fortunes by marrying off his eligible sons. He's pinned these hopes and accompanying responsibilities on his beautiful eldest (who is also the only son taking this task seriously.) Maedhros goes on a series of wretched failed dates (bonus for one with Gothmog)/to a series of wretched society events with assorted characters attempting to secure a good match for the family's pride.
+ The younger brothers are busy creating scandals with their own shenanigans and making this task harder
+ Despite being primarily responsible for this objective, Fëanor is actually really picky about who is talented/rich/noble enough to be considered as a prospective spouse. Nerdanel in the role of Mr. Bennett is just tired.
++?? Maedhros eventually snaps and elopes or something while one of the brothers unconcerned with respectability (Maglor? Idk) accidentally marries rich and saves the family estate
Eventual Russingon would be great if you feel so inclined but feel free to include/allude to various Fëanorian ships as you desire them. If fill goes nsfw or more serious that's fine! A short oneshot is also great!
(Gay marriage is OK here, the only thing Regency about this is the vibes)

Fingon and Finrod Helcaraxe Bonding
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: Chose Not To Use Warnings
Additional Tags: Family Bonding, Family Issues
Prompt: Okay so we know that the Nolofinweans and the Arafinweans were super tight, right? We know that Finrod was notably close with Turgon, and Fingon notably close with Aegnor and Angrod. But I have a theory that Finrod and Fingon became closer on the Helcaraxe owing to their leadership positions, and I think it would be fun to explore that possibility.
- Did they talk about Alqualonde? Did Finrod blame and forgive Fingon for acting rashly, or did he sympathize with Fingon realizing he'd made a terrible mistake? What did Fingon say about his feelings on it? Did Finrod have any guilt for what happened?
- Did they sympathize with each other about wanting to protect their younger siblings?
- What did they say about Finrod and his siblings coming with largely out of loyalty to their cousins?
- Did Fingon say anything about what it felt like to be (seemingly) betrayed by Maedhros? Did they share any feelings on the actions of their Feanorian cousins?
- Presumably they both worked together with Fingolfin to manage this whole trek--how did that go?
- Did they maybe share with each other worries they were afraid to burden their siblings or the people under their command with? Did they ever express regret for having decided to press on to Middle-earth?
- Did Fingon have feelings about watching his younger cousin suddenly leading a royal house of the Noldor? Did Finrod say anything about the stress of this position, or ever wish that Finarfin or Earwen had come with them?
- Anything generally on how their relationship may have changed during their experience on the Ice.
DNW: Incest (so nothing sexual or romantic between Finrod and Fingon please, and no background or alluded-to Russingon)

Feanor/Nerdanel - Nerdanel sculpts sex toys for Feanor
Rating: E
Prompt: I was inspired by anon's previous prompt to make a related one: OK, so we know Nerdanel is a sculptor, presumably with various (*handwaves* body-safe) materials. Why not have her make strap-ons, dildos, plugs, etc for she & Feanor's pleasure? I think after she realizes he's into penetrative stuff, she'd start to get creative about it and take matters into her own skilled hands. Besides possibly liking the idea of Feanor+Her Work in a (hot) proprietary way.
Bonuses: bossy Nerdanel, Feanor maybe has a size kink (partly motivated by a measure of prideful determination & partly motivated by being happiest when his thoughts are 100% fucked away) and Nerdanel is into it, dom/sub elements, mutual admiration/remarks about craftsmanship
I'd like them in a happy relationship here. If there are any seeds of underlying, later issues that's OK, but the overall vibe should be happy PWP.

Finwe/Indis/Miriel - threesome
Rating: Not Rated
Additional Tags: Threesome - F/F/M, Dom/sub Undertones
Prompt: Finwe enjoying time with his two wives.
I really would love to see this. I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Make it fluffy or sexy. I don't want to see any sort of shaming for any of the characters.
If steamy times are what is calling you, please include some amount of submissive Finwe and gently dominating wives. If steamy times are not your vibe, please include fluff.

Silmarillion AU Where all the Elves are Hobbits and the Stakes are Significantly Lower:
Finwe is mayor of his part of the Shire, happily married to both Miriel and Indis because they all have two hands
Miriel doesn't die after childbirth she just goes off on a trip to find new artistic inspiration and doesn't come back
Don't worry she eventually shows back up again– turns out she got lost and a kind elvish warrior named Vaire helped her find her way back
Feanor has a good relationship with his siblings, although he and Nolofinwe have engaged in several bouts of passive-aggressive one-upsmanship
The most famous of these ended with Nolofinwe swimming several miles across a lake in winter to prove that he was the more dedicated brother. Feanor agreed after telling him off for being reckless.
The Silmarils aren't pseudo-holy gemstones here, they're a set of three really intricately carved pipe-weed pipes that the Finweans pull out on ceremonial occasions
Morgoth isn't a fallen god he's just an asshole elf who regularly breaks into the Shire to steal things
One day he steals the Silmarils; he doesn't kill Finwe though he just knocks him out
The rest of the First Age is mostly just increasingly convoluted plots by various Finweans to break into his fortress and steal back the pipes (and all the other stuff Morgoth has stolen)
The first of these attempts involves Feanor stealing one (1) boat from Mayor Olwe. No one dies though and he puts it back afterwards. It still results in a lot of petty gossip.
After one of the attempts Morgoth catches Maedhros and hangs him up in a really tall tree
He's stuck there for three weeks before Findekano finds him and gets him down with the help of a homemade hang-glider called "Thorondor"
One of the other hobbit mayors is Thingol, a dear friend (and possible ex boyfriend?) of Finwe
Most of the Ainur are elves here but the concept of hobbit Thingol marrying an eldritch goddess is too funny to pass up so Melian is still a Maia here
She and her descendants look pretty hobbit-ish but they have fairy wings and little antennae
It causes a huge scandal when their daughter, Luthien, runs off with a dwarf prince named Beren
Thingol even writes a very strongly worded letter telling her not to marry him, which is a very extreme measure by hobbit standards, but she doesn't listen
Eventually Beren decides to steal some hobbit stuff back from Morgoth to prove his worthiness
He ends up stealing back one of the pipes and giving it to Thingol
Thingol grudgingly accepts him and Bluthien settle into a nice, quiet life in the Shire
There's no Doriath kinslaying either there's just a long, very passive-aggressive series of letters between Thingol and Feanor until Finwe eventually steps in and Thingol returns the pipe

Noldorin family trees again bc its been like. 2 years and ive changed everything
design notes below readmore
-originally wanted finwe to be very blue bc of the color coding w miriel and indis, and then their children ie: Fëanor wearing red bc he's Míriel's son, Fingolfin wearing blue bc he's Finwë's son, and Finarfin wearing green bc he's Indis' son. scrapped it bc he looks good in white and gold but the idea stuck around with the silver n gold
-little gemstones on Finwë's headdress are red and green for his wives. similarly Fëanor's are only red for his mother
-Finarfin wears a more vanyarin style compared to his siblings, aside from Lalwen but her style is also like. noldorinized
-the different clans of elves have different resting positions for their ears! the vanyar have theirs almost straight up, the noldor have the classic kinda-up, and the teleri have theirs parallel to the ground
-thr large headdresses Finwë, Fëanor, Fingolfin, Maedhros, Curufin, and Fingon wear are like noldorin royalty stuff for eldest sons/heirs. While i do think Maedhros is Fëanor's heir i do think some favoritism let Curufin wear one too. i dont think i need to explain why Curufin's looks so similar to Fëanor's
-fingolfins headdress is meant to resemble the sun bc he's the first High King under the Sun and Moon
-the nose ring that some of them have is a Vanyarin style indicating that they are married
-Maedhros and Fingon have similar headdreses bc i think it would have pissed tf out of their fathers. also i think its funny
-Nerdanel and Anairë are noldor, but to me they are from noldorin minorities which have slightly differing cultures frm the majority which is why their clothing is slightly different
-that boob window thing Nerdanel, Maedhros, and Celegorm have are specific and iconic to the Aulendil
-Maglor is channeling Míriel’s clothing style here, which although might come off as a bit feminine is not. i dont think elves would be very strict abt that kinda stuff
-Míriel and Celegorm have albinism
-the Ambarussa aren't quite identical and i think they have very dif personalities and styles. to me. Amras (short hair) is more mainstream noldorin while Amrod is more of their mothers style
-while he and his siblings r very noldorin in style, Argon is channeling his mothers style more than the majority
-the mark on Eärwen and her children's lower lips are a coming of age kinda thing. dont ask me how they get those vibrant colors bc i dont know
-the gold on Eärwen’s headscarf is meant to resemble fishing nets
-each of Finarfin and Eärwen’s children channel a dif. part of their heritage in their clothing--Finrod is a noldorinized vanyarin style, Angrod and Aegnor are different kinds of Telerin, and Galadriel is Noldorin
-the like. shark tooth necklaces that Angrod and Aegnor have is a symbol of being an accomplished fisherman
-everyone born in Valinor has light in the center of their eyes which correspond to the light of the trees they were born under. this doesnt really matter and you cant really see it but its important to me that you know
-on that note, Finarfin has both lights in his eyes bc he was born during the mingling. bc i can do whatever i want
#Indis and Finarfin's clothes are based on Xhosa and Ndebele styles so if i got anything wrong PLEASE tell me#also idk why i wrote all their names in quenya but i was too lazy to go back and change it so. rip.#tolkien#xiphoids art#silmarillion#the silmarillion#only tagging the elders n heads of house bc thats way too many names otherwise#miriel therinde#miriel#finwe#indis#feanor#fëanor#fingolfin#finarfin#nerdanel#anaire#anairë#Eärwen#earwen#maedhros#fingon#finrod#i spent a lot of time on the details please please look at them. if tunglr didnt fuck my shit up

Míriel, only half hearing Finwë: did you call me an eldritch horror?

I don’t understand people who demonize Feanor pre 1st Kinslaying because genuinely what was he supposed to do?
How is he wrong for despising Indis who was creepily obsessed with his father even before his mother died and took her first chance to throw herself at his grieving father given the opportunity?
How is he wrong for not loving his half siblings who are a permanent reminder of his father & the Valar betraying his mother & leaving her to die?
How is he in the wrong for not giving up the Silmarills?
How is he wrong for wanting revenge for his murdered father when the actual villains are the Valar who doomed him, his kin, & his people for…. seeking justice for their king?
The Valar had the power to help this severely traumatized, depressed, & mentally ill person and guide him to be less destructive.
They chose not to. Every interaction between Feanor & the Valar are them actively making his life worse and then Manwe has the audacity to cry over him as if he couldn’t have prevented this tragedy.
While I think Olwe & the Teleri should have been willing to teach the Noldor to build ships at least, the 1st Kinslaying is obviously still unjustified since Feanor did have a way to middle earth without killing (the Helcaraxe), but before that everyone else is being a bigger asshole than Feanor and pushing him to his inevitable breaking point.

was real busy this week so no time to draw, but i had some little chibi heads lying around that i didnt have a real use for so i wanted to try my hand at some character relationship charts 😌 i used to really love reading them when they would be compiled for old jrpg or visual novel games i was into, so i thought it'd be fun to explore some finwean dynamics i personally tend to lean on in my fics n comic wooo

the first oath
by ambrorussa (@welcometolotr)
Part 1 of The First Oath
There was already an oath that controlled elves before the one Fëanor made in YT 1495. One that drove the Eldar from Cuiviénen and gave them hope for a new life; one that enabled the Valar to exert greater control than ever before; one that took all semblance of choice and control from fourteen elves in return for the greater good. "Then Manwë said to the Valar: 'This is the counsel of Ilúvatar in my heart: that we should take up again the mastery of Arda, at whatsoever cost, and deliver the Quendi from the shadow of Melkor.' Then Tulkas was glad; but Aulë was grieved, foreboding the hurts of the world that must come of that strife." (J.R.R. Tolkien, The Silmarillion) Fifteen elves swear to bear children for the Valar in exchange for the protection of their race, and thus the Maiar come into being. This story follows the ramifications of that choice from the Years of the Trees through the Fourth Age of Middle-Earth.

Kind of a weird AU but hear me out:
Finwe marries Indis, right? Most controversial thing Finwe ever done and that includes leading elves from their ancestral home to a new continent to live with gods. Silmarillion says that it happened because he fell in love and I believe it BUT what Silmarillion doesn't tell you is WHEN Finwe marries Indis. I saw posts that say the canon is inconclusive and Tolkien probably changed his mind a lot, and half of what of what Tolkien wrote is thrown from the window by fandom, so.
Anyway, one of the versions said Feanor was at least a teenager when Finwe/Indis happens (I think). What Silmarillion states is that Feanor married VERY young by elven standards, and that Nerdanel was below his station (classism? in elven society? apparently!).
Last thing before I get to the main point: Fingolfin marries Anaire, a Noldo lady, who I saw often enough written as a noble or a court lady, perfectly fine that, no idea if that's canon. And Finarfin very much marries Teleri princess.
...I don't know guys, it feels very convienient. For princes to fall in love with exactly the kind of women who would be approved by royal court and strenghten political ties with other elven factions. If it was anything else than silm, I would call political marriages.
Time for crack: based on what I wrote above I propose an AU where it was FEANOR who was supposed to marry Indis. For politics! Vanyar are the most important faction in Aman! Let's marry into that!
But the MOMENT Feanor became an adult and they could process with courting without making it creppier than it already is, Feanor runs off to elope with his coworker and there's nothing they can do. Well, that's what Finwe tells Ingwe when Ingwe rages about it to him.
Finwe loves Feanor, he wants him to marry for love, and that's exactly what happens. But, uh, all Vanyar are pissed that there's no political marriage when they were promised one (they mad cause they look stupid now), and, well. Finwe decides to bite the bullet. For his son.
It's not true of course. But imagine family dinners after that.
#silm#silmarillion#finwe#feanor#indis#crack#AU#imagine being fingolfin and knowing you could be feanors son not his brother#I mean he would at least love you but still#feanor/indis age gap now THAT's problematic internet forums would explode#it's not that type of story but Finwe sounds unhinged enough to actually do this#solving political crisis proving your love to your son and getting a hot wife to make many babies with?#that has Finwe all over it baby#in this AU nobody ACTUALLY believes Miriel will ever return#like Valars told them it's possible#they went 'uh huh whatever you say' and totally ignored them#listen there are miracles and there are MIRACLES#and bringing people back from dead is the latter#have a nice day!#duty-driven Finweans are my catnip#like SoF went nuts with their Oath obviously#but didn't get that kind of intensity about promises from nowhere#actually Finwe fucking his whole family over with badly thought out and executed promise is very on brand#I did NOT open Silmarillion for this I'm going from memory#so be warned#feanor/indis

You ever think maybe Finwë felt safe in marrying Indis because Fëanáro was happy, even without Míriel, since he had Finwë's love, who acted as both mother and father for him.
So Finwë thought he could look for some happiness himself and perhaps then both him and his son would be happy.
But in trying to find his own happiness, he destroyed Fëanáro's and spent all of his second marriage trying to restore it. To no avail. For restoring Fëanáro's happiness meant destroying Indis' now, while his own remained lost with Míriel.
