i cant deal w ppl on tiktok saying they didn't like modern faerie tales because they thought the writing wasn't clear enough or too flowery... meanwhile i thought the language was too plain and explained every little thing in tfota series, but overall i thought the trilogy was fast paced so that may be a personal miff that i have... also there are crits i have about how race is handled in mfts, but the line 'what flavour of asian are you' is kaye experiencing racism... like that's the point, she's an asian main character even though she's mixed, and she's surrounded by racist assholes in new jersey... like that's a vital factor in her feeling different and othered by her white family who doesn't give a shit about her asian side, and othred by society... she experiences racism 😭 she's not just a changeling, she's also asian american...

As Tumblr folk who have picked my book seem to largely like it (you are my people) I will perhaps inconsistently put some of my reels on here? Here is a neat stop motion one set to Hozier.

Dragonfall is a queer epic fantasy with a genderfluid thief and a dragon trapped in human form falling in love despite it being a bad idea all around.

Expect: multiple POVs and narrative positions, yearning, a world where it's rude to assume a stranger's gender, a heist, my take on the fated mates/soulmate bond trope, cute mini wyverns, and if people use too much magic without fuelling themselves properly they might turn into a vampire/zombie/cannibal thing.

If you pick it up and enjoy, I'd really appreciate a review on places like GR/Amazon/Storygraph/wherever to feed the ever-hungry algorithm.

my spotify wrapped this year is both funny & sad to me bc usually my wrapped is Overtaken by the playlist for whatever project i’m writing that year, but this year i wasn’t working on anything new :0!! bodyshare came out obviously but the writing part had already been done so i wasn’t listening to playlist as much & i didn’t start writing anything new until literally like three days ago lmao. so this year instead of it being a nice little record of what i’d been writing it’s like “remember. Reading is a hobby, who cares what books someone reads or if they only listen to audiobooks or if they only read the same kinds of stories all the time?
