oh you wanna call mithrun a dead weight soooo bad. you imply but never explicitly say it but all of you giggling and kiking over what he could even have to offer kabru think he’s a burden soooooo bad. the ableism packed in that sentence could give cithis a run for her money

I just don't think most of y'all can actually read facial expressions. The way two characters (or even celebrities) "look" at each other is always cited as proof of one thing or another and at least 80% of the time the pictures tell a completely different story

I will not tolerate "sam is the straightest man alive" declarations from people who believe dean is a poor repressed bi guy. guess what, we're both delusional ! <3 these men are explicitly straight in canon. if you can have your little gay headcanons and queer coding analyses, so can we. you don't get to preach from a broken pulpit

y'all are never gonna be able to convince me that Eddie was being bullied by the evil, evil jocks of Hawkins high lmao. Nothing about what we see on screen or his personality makes that make sense.

Edit: I wrote this like when the person had been called out from the beginning but I didn't post it publicly only set it to private. I feel alot more comfortable speaking now. Adding that they deleted all their socials which is also a plus. So if you wanna know what I haven't been around much, it's cause I'm trying to like...still wrap my head around it. Especially considering I had maybe FIVE convos with this person in servers and merely just blocked her on discord
Also just saying but her hypocrisy about enjoying dead dove content when she got called out for it only for her to turn around and say that a former friend of hers deserved to be harassed because of it. Because the former friend cut ties with her and found out she had been shit talking. I can say for a fact she's not sorry for what she has done. She's sorry she got caught.
For all of her loud proclaiming that she was an ally to trans people, she misgendered me in private messages to a former friend of hers, referring to me constantly as "she" or "her"
I don't take kindly to that. At all. I go by they/them, regardless of the fact that I'm comfortable in my AFAB body (though I do wear a sports bra on the days I feel boyish lmao). I'm nonbinary, not fucking woman-lite.
I also don't take kindly to someone getting into my business about my partner, labeling them as nothing be a crush as if she had any right to decide what our relationship was.
Not to make it about race but I'm in a interracial relationship and its giving a type of vibe when a white person is questioning your fucking relationship as if it's their business. Like thanks, it's bad enough I have to deal with it in real life why not fucking fandom as well.

People that comment on other people’s post with their trash takes and negative opinions don’t understand that no one is obligated to read or tolerate them. Make your own posts with your trash takes and trash opinions and stay the fuck away from mine, thanks so much 😌

Billy Antis: I bet y’all hate that Lucas is alive and Billy isn’t! HA HA! Suck it losers!
The Billy Fandom: So, anyway… Here’s our in depth analysis on how Lucas is mistreated by most of his friends, as well as sidelined and villainized by the writers of this show and what could be done to appreciate him more in the narrative

break up rumors between two ppl famous in a niche, okay thats normal. the girl did some nasty bullying too and the guy has a reputation for being kind so maybe its just normal it wont work out in the long term... and then oh no, several *new* rumors about the girl doing awful things backstage, all coming out in such a short span of time it feels like a coordinated attack. and all of the sudden i just remembered her ex might be a nice guy but his friends arent and his friend is those circle of guys famous for spreading rumors and dragging people's name through the mud when they fell out of favor with them. the ex might not even ask them to shit on her, its just one of those bro codes they do. damn im suddenly lowkey rooting for this girl despite being a dipshit who bullied others the same way before to other women.
orrr maybe im just on my usual misandry. as yall know, im immediately distrustful of any men with a Marked Reputation of being wholesome or kind. from my experience theyre just as awful, except they have a gaggle of loyal defenders or theyre only horrible to "acceptable targets" (bitchy women, trans women, etc etc) so its even more annoying to remember they exist.

I really like and agree with your post on GO s2. I haven't finished it and don't really have any interest in finishing, bc it does feel so different from the story that I've been a fan of since I've read it when I was like, 11. I think it falls into a lot of the traps that other entertainment products have fallen into when they focus in on a sidecharacter (even if those characters have a lot of prominence in the narrative) in that the reason fans gravitate to those characters is bc of their relationship to the rest of the world. You've outlined it very well in your post that humans (not just 'humanity' as a concept, but actual fleshy people doing things) are so central to GO the book. And they are also the background to a lot of the story, it's the world that gives dimension to the characters and the world of book GO is so populated with little human anecdotes that are not plot relevant but are important for the texture, the feel of the story. I think you can really see that Neil Gaiman has no experience with being a showrunner, and without the anchor of the book he falls into a lot of pitfalls re pacing, scope, worldbuilding, that make the central characters fall flat. You can be a good writer but writing for the screen is a specific skillset and running a show even more so, and I think the lack of technical skills in those areas really shines through here and makes the product as a whole not work.
hey anon, thanks for this! I had to wake up properly to read it so it took me a minute but here I am.
i think you're right about those elements of the book missing and how the focus on popular characters to the detriment of the larger world defs does fall flat, yeah.
idk enough about gaiman's tv career to really speak to whether it's an experience problem or not; to be fair, this is very much the sort of story that studios eat up, and, clearly, that audiences LOVE, and providing that is definitely a skill. it's simplified, it's dramatic and satisfying (for nonfans of the book), it's a very consumable and marketable narrative. to be fair.
(this is not to say that it's GOOD that this happens. I think fandom can elevate a work, but there's a trend in the industry towards the easiest marketable work, and that tends to cater towards the most boring aspects of fandom. like I get it but. grumblegrumblegrumble both sides BE BETTER.)
it's that comparison to the book, which for all its flaws (1990, etc) had a very different purpose and message, that kind of makes it go meh. and I'm not sure that's a problem of inexperience; I think it may be a problem of time passing, and gaiman as writer having a different sort of story he wants to tell about it (tv!gomens s1 was a love letter to sir terry pratchett, and I suspect was more about celebrating that friendship than staying true to the book's intentions; my personal feelings abt that choice, or gaiman's obliviousness to the messages so many ppl took from the book, are....... hm.)
......also as a longtime discworld fan, I have my suspicions that the things I miss most were heavily influenced by pratchett writing them. I've read books by both authors, and I think the bits about human people living their human lives being enough to change the universe show up more in pratchett's work. a bit. like I can't say for sure but I Suspect. u kno.

So crazy to me seeing people on reddit complain about the wicked movie casting because... They wanted idina and Kristin??? Hello?? Like I don't like that they cast Ariana either but baffling people think they would've ever cast the og actors from 20 YEARS AGO. There's been plenty of stellar actors who have played glinda and elphaba in the past 20 years and idina and Kristin are also ... Too old to be playing college students lmao

amc mayfair witches' marketing team adding mayfair witches podcast on top of iwtv podcast and posting tweets that put iwtv down to make mw look better on their joined instagram account makes them look genuinely fucking embarrassing. how little faith they have for mw to stand on its own. iwtv and mw are very different shows, with difference in style, plot, themes, general tone and aesthetics of those show are nothing alike. they don't pander to the same demographic, and YET. amc didn't even TRY to let mayfair be it's own thing, and intead it makes them look soooooo desperate to "trick" iwtv fans to watch mayfair witches, doing a huge disservice to both shows.

I would be more ambivalent to a lot of the Steve hate if it wasn't just people blaming him for other characters getting bad writing like Steve doesn't also suffer from shitty writing lol. Like the Duffers just aren't great show runners why are we blaming fictional characters that they created for that lol
