I have begun to long for you I who have no greed I have begun to ask for you I who have no need You say you've gone away from me But I can feel you when you breathe Do not dress in those rags for me I know you are not poor And don't love me quite so fiercely now When you know that you are not sure It is your turn, beloved It is your flesh that I wear
My piece for Merry Month of Cohen, 2024 on @what-happens-to-the-heart. :) Nothing fancy but I wanted to revisit this old piece of mine in my Threshold AU for Voyager.
I've always loved the idea of Kathryn being at the lowest point she's ever known here and thinking she'll never be the same again. (The theme!!!!!!!!)

was it just me, or were the tree people in asphodel. very white. idk if i'm being too sensitive to things like this but like. they. are very white. (honestly i think that they might have needed to be white to show up with the terrible dark lighting. it's not a good enough reason. they feel like discount fae)
and that's not even getting into the fact that bc asphodel is like this, it changes a decent chunk of hazel's backstory? like ok, i get that they don't have the luxury to think that far ahead right now, but this is. a part of the worldbuilding. you didn't need to change. i liked asphodel as a place of wander, as a place of flatness and aimlessness, and a lot of that is gone if you make it about regrets. hazel is wandering not because she had regrets but because her betrayal was balanced out by her sacrifice.
the regrets in asphodel feel. weighty. it feels claustrophobic. it feels a little bit like the fields of punishment. (which on that note, why aren't they fields? fields - or meadows thanks wikipedia - would have made more sense, would have been able to convey the vastness of the underworld better) I kind of hate it. asphodel isn't supposed to be frightening, and if it is, it would only be in that existential crisis type of way. this is supposed to be limbo. (wikipedia goes "The Asphodel Meadows is most probably where the souls of people who lived mediocre lives remain" without a citation LMAO) it's the embodiment of eh.

Judah Has Been Unfaithful
Judah has been unfaithful, and done detestable things in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has desecrated the holy sanctuary of the LORD which HE loved, by marrying women who worship foreign gods. — Malachi 2:11 | Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition (RFBP) Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser. Wrong Spiritual Choices
“The Israelites did evil in the Lord’s sight …They abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors… They went after other gods, worshiping the gods of the people around them… angered the Lord …This made the Lord burn with anger against Israel, so He handed them over to raiders who stole their possessions. He turned them over to their enemies all around, and they were no longer able to resist them.” Judges 2:11-12,14NLT
Yahweh God the God of relationship making a covenant with Abraham. When He brought the Israelites, Abraham’s descendents, out of Egypt, He desired to be their Father, God and King. Seventy-four Israelites were allowed to dine in God’s Presence. “Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel climbed up the mountain. There they saw the God of Israel. Under His feet there seemed to be a surface of brilliant blue lapis lazuli, as clear as the sky itself… though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, He did not destroy them… they ate a covenant meal, eating and drinking in His presence!” Exodus 24:9-11NLT God celebrated their freedom for Egypt with them. We similarly celebrate special occasions with meals in our families.
After the leaders left, Moses returned to God to receive instructions. Forty days away, impatience took over the Israelites. Give us a god we can ‘see’ they whined. Never mind that some had really seen Him, their majority wanted to create a golden calf! God became angry with their unfaithfulness.
In our text scripture, Moses and Joshua were deceased. Again they couldn’t ‘see’ God. “They went after other gods, worshiping the gods of the people around them.” Through Moses, Yahweh had given the Israelites choices— Deuteronomy 28. Verses 1-15 held all the blessings covering every good thing imaginable coming to those faithful ones under the umbrella of God’s mercy. Verses 15-68 showed all the curses coming to those who chose other gods and a life of sin. Slavery, poverty, and sickness are some of those curses.
In 1620AD a group of Pilgrims made a covenant with God for the new America. Groups came to this land seeking a place of freedom to worship Jesus, unfettered by the organized church. Those leaders all died. We’ve organized many denominational churches. Many such denominations have lost full sight of Jesus as Lord; His amazing love and power. Others have fallen into the sleep of apathy. Those Pilgrims would be aghast.
Has anyone noticed the soaring prices of inflation? Loss of medical care after Obama’s medical takeover? Higher taxes? Enormous national debt? Sex trafficking of our children? Enemy invasion over our borders? Foreigners owing our land and government buildings? Check out Deuteronomy 28. Could our national enslavement be because of our wrong spiritual choices?
2Chronicles 7:14NLT “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” God has given us a way out of this mess— repentance. Solely prayer won’t suffice. We must ask God to show us our sin, in order to repent, not just our sins but those who’ve gone before us. Sins thriving inside each of us individually. REPENT per online dictionary .com is defined— “to feel such sorrow for sin or fault as to be disposed TO CHANGE ONE’S LIFE for the better; be penitent.”
Thus repentance is not just a ‘God I’m sorry’ prayer. This is a prayer of heartfelt change, doing a 180 degree life turnaround. Our choices today are like the Israelites. Repent or become more enslaved down to even watching our nation be totally destroyed. What do you want? Will you repent in prayer? It’s your choice. You choose.
LET’S PRAY: Father forgive us of our sins! Help us to regret our sinful ways. Please change our hearts in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

romulus being an atheist is interesting in the way it contrasts with her character foil harry dashwood like. she’s sincerely and genuinely trying to help people but doesn’t actually hold any religious beliefs despite being the leader of a religious institution LMAO whereas dashwood who cynically uses religion to get himself more power actually is a genuine believer, and a fanatic at that. like he took romulus betraying him so badly it made him think he was the second coming of werewolf jesus it’s so funny what’s going on there

Quote
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

Going Through the Motions
1 In the fourth year of King Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah on the fourth day of the ninth month, which is Chislev. 2 Now the people of Bethel had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech and their men to entreat the favor of the LORD, 3 saying to the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts and the prophets, “Should I weep and abstain in the fifth month, as I have done for so many…

He played Shin Megami Tensei V for me a while ago, and that's how I eventually got to play it...
Though I hesitate now because I don't want to buy two versions, may wait for an upgraded rerelease u_u

Hear me out: Robin Dick would be the biggest Bruceman supporter and shipper.
This boy hates any of Bruce’s love interest with a passion because then his dad guardian spends less time with him and that’s obviously UNACCEPTABLE, SCANDALOUS even, so when rumours start circulating that Bruce Wayne is in a relationship with the Batman, he jumps right on the wagon.
Reporter, thirsty for a story: Mr Grayson what do you think about the rumours that Bruce Wayne is dating the Batman?
Dick: What do I think about my dads you mean? My very married very taken dads? My very faithful to each other plural dads?
He would fuel the rumours both as Robin and as Dick Grayson, punching criminals for talking bad about Wayne enterprises as Robin (“THAT’S MY STEPDADS COMPANY YOURE TALKING ABOUT!”). He would be on online forums all day talking about how Bruceman is the only Batman ship that makes sense and Doxxing people who disagree.
Bruce is so exasperated because this is happening at a time where only Alfred and Dick know his real identity so he can’t even do anything with ANYONE without making either Bruce Wayne or Batman look unfaithful.
Throw Reporter Clark Kent into the mix who has been sent to scope out the Bruceman story, who Bruce makes the mistake of flirting with at a gala. Both Clark AND dick are scandalised.
Dick, making a scene: HOW COULD YOU! BATMAN IS WAITING FOR YOU AT HOME AND YOURE HERE FLIRTING WITH SOME… SOME REPORTER??
Bruce, sighing: Dick-
Dick, tugging on Bruce’s suit and looking up at him with fake tears in his eyes: Dad, are you and dad getting a divorce? :(
Clark, panicking: NO NO THEYRE NOT GETTING A DIVORCE PLEASE DONT CRY
Meanwhile:
Bruce, crying in the corner: he called me dad
He would even go as far as insisting that Robin is his step sibling
Principal: how do you explain that whenever Robin is injured, Dick fails to show up at school the next day?
Dick: Robin and I are twins :) so when he’s injured I’m injured too and we have to stay home together!!
Bruce, whispering: I’m sorry, they’re not really twins but neither I or Bats have the heart to tell hem
