i think the point of a lot of pieces of art that are like "there is no true distinction between past present and future, time isn't linear and they're all running simultaneously" is much less that time "literally" isn't linear, and much more so that to humans time isn't linear, past mistakes are always ignored and will therefore return in the future, misery and various events feel so fixed and unchangeable that you can practically "predict the future", you are constantly becoming your parents (by unknowingly taking on their flaws and not changing for the better ... and, in some of those stories, literally) and not really progressing, so on and so forth. much to think about
