So, I saw this image on Facebook, and it was supposedly showing what Queen Nefertiti would have looked like in real life:
Now, I thought this AI generated garbage was just truly terrible on a number of levels; first off, she looks wayyyyyy too modern - her makeup is very “Hollywood glamour”, she looks airbrushed and de-aged, and as far as I’m aware, Ancient Egyptians didn’t have mascara, glitter-based eyeshadows and lip gloss. Secondly, her features are exceptionally whitewashed in every sense - this is pretty standard for AI as racial bias is prevalent in feeding AI algorithms, but I genuinely thought a depiction of such a known individual would not exhibit such euro-centric features. Thirdly, the outfit was massively desaturated and didn’t take pigment loss into consideration, and while I *do* like the look of the neck attire, it's not at all accurate (plus, again, AI confusion on the detailing is evident).
So, this inspired me to alter the image on the left to be more accurate based off the sculpture’s features. I looked into Ancient Egyptian makeup and looked at references for kohl eyeliner and clay-based facial pigment (rouge was used on cheeks, charcoal-based powder/paste was used to darken and elongate eyebrows), and I looked at pre-existing images of Nefertiti, both her mummy and other reconstructions. While doing this, I found photos of a 3D scanned sculpture made by scientists at the University of Bristol and chose to collage the neck jewellery over the painting (and edited the lighting and shadows as best as I could).
Something I see a lot of in facial recreations of mummies is maintaining the elongated and skinny facial features as seen on preserved bodies - however, fat, muscle and cartilage shrink/disappear post mortem, regardless of preservation quality; Queen Nefertiti had art created of her in life, and these pieces are invaluable to developing an accurate portrayal of her, whether stylistic or realistic in nature.
And hey, while I don't think my adjustments are perfect (especially the neck area), I *do* believe it is a huge improvement to the original image I chose to work on top of.
I really liked working on this project for the last few days, and I think I may continue to work on it further to perfect it. But, until then, I hope you enjoy!
Remember, likes don't help artists but reblogs do!

So I love plants. And I love different kinds of houseplants. But I got hella annoyed not finding anything that fit what I thought would work for aroids and other tropical houseplants and went, "Oh, God, we've got that 3D printer, don't we?"
So I learned to 3D model.
It is very hard.
Anyway, I have another tumblr, and I love navigating tumblr, and was like, hmm, maybe people who grow plants may find them interesting? So I started one for my store. I launched yesterday!
If you don't like planters or don't need them, I plan on releasing nature-themed art pieces and other things too. To keep up with that, you can follow me here on Tumblr or on Instagram (or Facebook, but I'll be on Insta more. And here).
BUT why buy my planters?
Well, you can use them with your nursery pots (see above photo). You can use them with clear pots (see below).
You can use them with grow mediums with varying degrees of success. They're on sale for 25 USD, and there are discounted bundles as well as, I cannot stress it enough, we have FREE US SHIPPING unless you need it, like, in two days, in which case we HAVE to charge. I'm sorry, but them's the rules.
I don't have international shipping right now. My apologies, but duties and international shipping is EXPENSIVE and I am a new baby business, ok, I gotta work my way up to it!
Anyway, I bet people are like, why have a BRAND Tumblr and my question to you is, why NOT? The overlap between planty people and tumblr people is surprisingly big and I want to reach as many people with my ideas/products as I can.
So go ahead and send asks if you like about 3D printing, houseplants, et cetera. I can't wait to talk with you all and plan on posting here lots!

The other two photos from my wind chill photo shoot! I love my custom clones!
Because we had full sun, I braved the below zero windchill to get some updated photos of my Hot Toys figures with their MJB Customs 3D printed heads. I just finished Echo. I had another one that was printed a little too big, but this one is perfect. I tweaked his features a little to make it look more like him. I love that we can add these to these characters that only exist in animation (except that brief bit of Rex in Ahoska with helmet on.) I am going to look into getting animated style armor for Rex and Howzer next.
I have an Etsy shop with prints of my fan art and some custom 3D pieces for sale. https://www.etsy.com/shop/FaithwalkCreationsCo

Here’s why the SR-71 Blackbird SR-1 Ejection Seat had two loops on the D ring
SR-71 Blackbird
SR-1 Ejection Seat
Two loops on the D ring
SR-71 Blackbird
The SR-71, unofficially known as the “Blackbird,” was a long-range, Mach 3+, strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed from the Lockheed A-12 and YF-12A aircraft.
The first flight of an SR-71 took place on Dec. 22, 1964, and the first SR-71 to enter service was delivered to the 4200th (later 9th) Strategic Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., in January 1966.
The Blackbird was in a different category from anything that had come before. “Everything had to be invented. Everything,” Skunk Works legendary aircraft designer Kelly Johnson recalled in an interesting article appeared on Lockheed Martin website.
For instance, the Blackbird’s ejection seat (in the form of the Lockheed SR-1 ejection seat) had two loops on the D ring.
Why is that?
SR-1 Ejection Seat
The SR-1 ejection seat is a Lockheed design not much different from the Stanley designed Lockheed C-2 used in the very early A-12 and SR-71 Blackbirds (as can be seen in the cockpit of A-12 06925).
This print is available in multiple sizes from AircraftProfilePrints.com – CLICK HERE TO GET YOURS. SR-71A Blackbird 61-7972 “Skunkworks”
According to The Ejection Site, the D-ring at the front center of the SR-1 ejection seat is cable connected to an initiator under the seat pan.
The cable is spring-mounted to prevent injuries after ejection and before seat separation at which time the cable is severed. When pulled, the initiator gas is routed to the inertia reels to retract the crewman back upright. It is also routed to the foot restraint reels and via a quick disconnect fitting to the canopy removal system.
As the canopy is jettisoned, an initiator in the canopy system is actuated and gas from it is directed back into the seat via another quick disconnect to actuate the gas-operated sequencing system, and to fire the catapult after a 0.3-second delay to allow the canopy to clear the area.
Two loops on the D ring
SR-71 pilot Darryl Greenamyer was as short as Bob Gilliland (another Blackbird driver) was tall. They were both examples of above and under-the-average test pilots hired by Lockheed Skunk Works.
This model is available from AirModels – CLICK HERE TO GET YOURS.
As told by Donn A. Byrnes and Kenneth D. Hurley in their book Blackbird Rising: Birth of an Aviation Legend, when Darrell was placed in the cockpit and the depressurized simulated (this was done by pumping up his pressure suit to 3.5 psi over atmospheric pressure) …
His suit became so rigid that he could not reach the ejection seat loop mounted on the seat between his knees (The D ring) so they made it fit. The result was a second loop that raised above the initial loop.
As seen in the picture below.

Sheffield was an SR-71 Reconnaissance Systems Officer) Twitter X Page Habubrats SR-71, Instagram Page SR71Habubrats and Facebook Page Born into the Wilde Blue Yonder Habubrats for awesome Blackbird’s photos and stories.

Catching Mice
As Ferris Bueller says “life moves pretty fast” – he was talking about hijinks in the 1980s, but the logic holds for life inside us too. Biological processes zip by – and by only focussing on the details, we might miss the bigger picture. But what if we could have both detail and perspective? Here researchers watch life inside an entire mouse torso. Using a modified form of photo-acoustic computed tomography, they fire harmless ion beams at the tissue, which absorbs some of the energy, emitting it as heat. Sensors spinning in circles around the unaware mouse catch these patterns in 3D, revealing details that might be missed otherwise. Different structures absorb and emit different patterns of energy – allowing researchers to pick out different organs and tissues at different depths in the body (rainbow colours). Watching processes as they occur, in vivo [in the living animal], promises insights into the effects of drug or metabolic diseases.

(about the bell post) i dont know anything about lore olympus but is there something inherently bad in using free stock images? like, thats what stock images are for right? i know that its probably lazy or whatever but is that the only problem? /genuine
Part of the issue with using stock photos is licensing. Like fonts, they're in abundance online and easy to snag for "free", but as soon as you enter commercial work, it becomes a legal minefield. Stock photos typically belong to either individuals or corporations that rely on people buying the rights to those photos to use them; if they don't, they could very well be sued for copyright infringement.
In that respect, emojis fall into a similar grey area. Some emojis are public domain/open source meaning they're free to use for everyone. But many are not. It's why different social media platforms and different phone providers use different emoji's - it's not purely for branding (though that is a factor as Facebook emojis have become distinguishable from Android emojis) but also for ownership.
So, in the legal sense, I do not know if the bell emoji that Rachel used in LO is legally hers to use, or if it's even subject to such laws (it could be an open source image meaning it's free-for-all). I'm hoping for her sake she's not breaking any sort of copyright ownership laws, but I'm also not a lawyer and wouldn't know how to get that information even if I wanted to lmao
Aside from the legal, it's also just... sigh I'm gonna get into more opinionated territory here, but even if something is open source, even if you're legally free to use a stock photo or other tool to create your comic, there's also the ethics/integrity of it. Lore Olympus is not a Canvas comic. It is not an indie hobbyist project. It's a commercial product with multiple people working on it behind the scenes, book deals, merch deals, a TV deal, and an upcoming feature at this year's SDCC, with Rachel headlining alongside Cassandra Claire (Mortal Instruments) and Jeff Smith (BONE). Webtoons is trying very hard to market LO as a 'flagship' series and convince the public that it can stand alongside other literature juggernauts.
What I'm trying to say here is, if Rachel did legally use it, it doesn't make it any less cheap. There's a lot of discussion in the art field over the usage of external tools and assets in art creation, especially here in the west. 3D models, AI shaders, gradient maps - there are tons of things that exist now that stand to benefit artists, but can be abused or used poorly, being used as less of a tool to benefit an artist with pre-existing skills and more as a cheap shortcut to circumvent actual skill/effort.
The bell emoji isn't the heart of the issue I pointed out in that post. If it were an isolated thing, if LO were an otherwise impeccable comic with high-effort art and just one little picture of a bell, it wouldn't be that big of an issue.
But LO isn't that comic. The recipe of its art development week after week has become very cheap and low-effort, and the bell is really just the cherry on top.
And just to make it clear, I do stand by artists being able to use tools that make their lives easier. None of this is to say it's wrong to use stock images, or 3D models, or gradient maps, or whatever have you. Those tools exist to help and can be used in fun and experimental ways to bring new perspectives and life to your work. And I'm not going to scrutinize whatever shortcuts are being used in a comic that's being made for free by a hobbyist or someone who's still learning.
But like all tools, there are still ways to use them to the detriment of your own work, either due to a lack of understanding as to how that tool works, or lack of effort to blend it into your work. It can make it glaringly obvious that third-party assets are being used, and can often distract from what you've drawn (the complete opposite of what most people are trying to achieve).
When I think of art shortcuts and tools being used poorly, I think of Let's Play and its stock photo background characters.
I think of Time Gate: [AFTERBIRTH]'s stiff default 3D models that result in lifeless poses and restricted body types, which I am VERY eager to move on from LMAO
I think of LO's 3D backgrounds with only 1-2 colors thrown in and the characters floating in front of them. Or sometimes no characters at all even when people are speaking.
And of course, I think of the emoji bell, which could have easily just been drawn as a door or an actual doorbell, and not some random grey bell copied and pasted from a Google search.
All that's to say, too much reliance on poorly-implemented assets can take a great piece of work down to a mediocre one. Of course, the assets definitely aren't the only issue with LO, but they are definitely a piece of the problem. There might not be anything 'wrong' with using assets, but they can still be used poorly or result in cheap-looking work and that's primarily what I'm calling out here.

Yebu Tonu - GAC artist of the month April 2020 - 02/04/2020
Catching up on older posts here as @rasalhagve wrote in 2020 -
'Yebu-Tonu is a neuroscience grad dropout, turned 3D new media artist living in Berlin. Originally starting out as a glitch artist hobbyist he shifted professional gears to research and 3D art design. Although most of his curated work is 3D-based material, Yebu today still enjoys sharing his photo-based glitch-displacement trials (among other things) to Glitch Artists Collective, where he first started out as a digital artist. Generally speaking, his work experimentally interrogates with volatile bodies, fantasy and points of impossibilities from a subjective position.'

I keep seeing AI photos shared in craft groups on Facebook with someone asking "does anyone know where I can find the pattern?" And it's the equivalent of trying to knit or sew an MCEscher 3D drawing. Nothing lines up, nothing makes sense, this is an impossible project.
Comment after comment below: "Wow so cute!" "Hope you share when you find the pattern!" "Great use of scraps!"
Me: "these are AI renders, they are not real physical objects".
Reply: "I've definitely seen one like that owl in real life"

I have some news to tell you guys. Even though i'm giving up using Twitter X and moving onto Bluesky. But i'm going to be archiving some of my post i did on Twitter X that i did in the past, even though they're not like if i were to do On This Day Post, but i'll just be posting them randomly on here, Bluesky and Facebook. Depending on what pics or screenshots i'll be posting. Some might come from my Wii U, 3DS, PlayStation, Xbox or even on my Switch. Normally i'll lose some of my videos i posted, but not to worry i have some from the Switch that are on my Micro SD Card which it's in my room somewhere. I just need to find a way to get them somehow. Especially when i used to post some of my 3DS photos. And i can still post some that are on my IPad and Cellphone. No need to worry about that. I'll even make a folder of some photos that i only took depending on my PlayStation, Xbox, 3DS, Wii U or Switch. That'll be my option depending on if i have plenty of memory for either Google Photos and Drive or Microsoft One Drive.
That's all for now.

MARCH ASTROLOGY - ISH MANIFESTING MARCH
Welcome to the end and beginning. March is my Birthday month and always feels rushed. The end of winter feels bitter sweet and Spring starts budding a bit too soon.
I find this month really special. Whilst it's business as usual in the 3D physical realm, it's the end and beginning, death and rebirth happening simultaneously, and it feels like normal even though it's extraordinary.
THE WHEEL KEEPS ON SPINNING
I believe we are experiencing social turbulence as we fly the plane collectively. There is a sense of collective strength that those of us who have felt powerless and ruled over find some sense of power in ourselves. This is the rumbling of Pluto in Aquarius, a celestial foot soldier for we the people. So if we are indeed the people, then we certainly do have the power.
Pisces season feels like a lavender field: sweet, bright, and calm. It does carry us through the end of the zodiac cycle to the final crescendo of the orchestra.
New mindset, new understanding of POWER opens the door to Aries season. Feel that sense of courage and boldness, a real and permanent mindset shift. Live your days with confidence, the same confidence you have to know the sun will rise every morning.
Three's a crowd, but for you, it's a party! You have all the planets hanging out in your sign for the majority of March. You will be feeling clarity, creative, and even romantic for the majority of your Birthday Month.
Hey Aries, you enter your season towards the end of the month, as you know alongside the spring equinox. You have been in a long slumber and hibernation period, and for the most part, the month is uneventful until a love alarm wakes you up and then you get going.
Family reunion time for Taurus in March. I see a sense of going home, to your hometown, or to visit your old neighbourhood. You are a city dweller now, and as you walk around your old childhood haunts where you made memories and were true markers of your young adulthood, things don’t feel so scary anymore. The memories don’t feel so haunting. You can now have a different relationship with your past, your community, your OG tribe.
This month you are feeling dissatisfied with your career achievement or progress. You are disgusted as what you have achieved do not align with your values. So you almost don’t want to associate with your achievements. Are you being too hard on yourself? I know it may not be what you envision your morals and values will look like, but what can you work with, what is here to celebrate and enjoy about where you are at now.
Cancer, you are feeling nostalgic this month, looking through old Facebook photos or your old videos. Life feels like a vignette montage of all the highlight and love-filled moments. Is it someone special to you birthday this month? You are feeling very appreciative of your loved ones this month.
Leo, your 8 house is lit up for most of March. It's not about what is coming to the surface; it's about you diving deeper, to the deeper darkest depth, and shining a light into it where it has not been before. This is your psyche, parts of yourself that you have not explored. This may show up through experiences in your life with those around you, situations accusing, giving you the opportunity to scratch another layer of yourself.
Your day-to-day work and life take centre stage of focus for you, Virgo. But when does it not? Hey, but in this world where you would normally be the one, the glue, the person doing it all, this time it's for you to ask for help and lean on and rely on others.
Health, downtime, sleep, rest, fatigue, if you don’t need to go anywhere, stay at home in your bed in PJs. March will feel like a reset in regards to your health and wellness. Perhaps you want to try out a new diet or realize that you have not been treating yourself and your body well and you want to start seeing your body as a temple that also needs to be nurtured from the inside out.
Scorpio, this month feels blessed for you. Your chart ruler is coming alive, and you may feel a renewed sense of energy to keep on pushing. Fun and play may be becoming you, but you want to ignore those distractions and focus on the work. You have the endurance to go steady and continue till the end of the project and then set your sights on something bigger.
Sagittarius, March for you will feel like boredom, but with that, breath it in. The boredom is here to stay for a while for you, the routine, the monotony, but you need it. You are used to moving at your own speed, chasing the high and excitement, trying to connect back to that feeling. What is that feeling? Of being Alive, so what is boredom but aliveness in the moment without stimuli.
Capricorn, March is about new starts for you and tying up loose ends with your work life. I am also seeing a renewed interest in a creative project spike up again for you, or a new angle in which you can approach your work, your life, and your community. Some news through social media comes your way.
We have just left your Bday month, Aqua, and for you, it was a really great time. We are seeing the triumphant return of the old you, in some way. Hold onto this for a while, don't go back to the past allow doors to close and accept your new beginning is permanent.
