easy and light-hearted answer:

I love how emotional he is, and his sentience, and his cruelty, and he's also just cute and funny and who doesn't like a cute and funny guy. and he's so smart and I need someone like that in my life

plus, he was the reason I became host in the first place. he is like the foundation of my existence, so he automatically had my heart

We both came out wrong and are spending our existence pleading to an absent god that we could just be human in the right way, and neither one of us can find it

both of us are split up into fragmented parts of what we were, and we're both so, so angry. and at any point, we could make the decision to get better, but we were raised in hatred, and the comfort of familiarity overcomes the discomfort of healing

I think we hate ourselves in similar ways, ways that reflect back out and make us hate everything else around us, but at the end of the day, it is just our anger at our own flaws and inaction. anger at our own constant, unstoppable overthinking.
