LA CIUDADELA, student project, 2018, Unit Morell, ETSAM
Chandigarh is an atypical city in India, full of gardens and parks, wide roads, modern architecture. It was the only urban project executed by Le Corbusier. The Capitol represents the head of Chandigarh, in the analogy with the human body performed by Le Corbusier in this project Located in the extreme north at the foot of the hills of the Himalayas, and separated from those by parks and highways, it is the most important monumental area and contains the most representative buildings of the city and some of the most interesting examples of the architect's work . The project of the governor's palace is proposed as a building on the scale of the capitol and the platform. A series of routes open to the outside and "plazas" that evoke the idea of a city itself. The courtyards of this palatial complex are based on those of the Alhambra in the way they are distributed and connected to each other. the disposition of the volumes within the set respond to a stipulated program, with guest apartments, offices and stays of the state, and the housing of the governor. The palace is located inside the capitol as a building that does not break the dialogue between the rest of buildings but interacts with all of them.

SERGI SERRAT, POLICE STATION IN SALT, Spain
A system of double height spaces and patios organize the private zones and flood the interior with light. A longitudinal spine-like scheme ordered around the patios orders the program in plan and establishes a clear transition between the public and the private.
....the semester is over and i am still wishing for some CONCISE, BEAUTIFUL, SPIRITED drawings.

KILL CAM #5.1
(The recording begins…)
Rough hands fumbling with cables, papers spread out ahead of her in a haphazard map only she could understand. Raw data filtered through Murphy's brain, her face aglow with the light emanating from dozens of monitors surrounding her.
Murphy had never been one to preserve her own safety. It'd been selfish, maybe, to not share her findings ahead of time, to avoid telling everyone what she’d just found. Plans. They’d all see soon, and it would be a great surprise. She’d sat in the sunshine for a brief moment before her descent, fingers tapping away at her communicator, communicating with everyone here, with everything here.
And now, Murphy wasn’t alone.
“M-Murphy?” A familiar silhouette enters from the edge of the screen, cautious in its approach. The man you recognize as Shisa stares around the room before his focus lands back on the control center. “What are you doing here by yourself?”
(And the tip of a single angle-bracket tongues out in the command line, right as she turns her head to him.)
Attempting to start CC:/TCG-V\system-32\overload/exe as user “JASPER”...
Murphy swiveled around, eyes locked on target. "Ah! Shisa?", her voice came out a squeak. The monitors began to flicker. She tilted her head, smiling. "Um! Well I didn't expect company down here! Too, um, too risky and all! I’ll tell everyone in a bit, I wanted it to- to, um, to be a fun surprise! Too- too- Shisa?” Like a scream in the distance, she heard Shisa.
She stops, and a console behind her explodes.
Murphy doesn't react, not as shrapnel threatens to tear through them both, not as something near-grazes her head, singing the carnation behind one ear. She stares through Shisa, as if he were both as insignificant as a bug, and a target to be eliminated. Her smile melted.
“What are you? I-”, she stood up, stumbling towards Shisa, voice distant. “I- what are you? Who are you?”
Murphy was transfixed upon something Shisa couldn’t see. Beautiful glowing pinks, warm oranges and vibrant reds. Heating up, flesh turning to steel and plastic. An expanding spider’s web of pain. Murphy didn’t realise she was screaming. An agonised grin split her face in two.
“I need to- I need to show!”
Why did she feel such a way? What was the thing ahead of her? Wires connecting her mind to the world dissolved into flesh. What was once a human ahead of her was now mere data, now something trying to stop her, now something trying to destroy her. She needed to show herself. Murphy’s eyes rolled back for a moment, her mind captivated by the digital sinews and organs of this place. The body shudders. Pain coursing through individual axons as if floodgates had been torn asunder by the tides. Right now, Murphy could only sense a threat, sense-
“You.”
Murphy froze in place, muscles tensed, unseeing. She wasn’t there anymore. Cables collapse from the ceiling, spasming violently across ferrous grids, sparks fly from electronics, a foul, acrid stench of burning plastic, before they too exploded. Her body doesn’t react, not with an automatic flinch or a joyous smile. Transfixed, transfixed on destroying anything, everything. Everything.
Nothing would survive unscathed.
Shisa narrowly dodges a sudden spark from behind him, scrambling to make his way to safety around the other side of the console. He raises his arms over his head, trying in vain to block the searing heat away from eyes as he searches for something in the room that can help him. But as he looks back behind him at the catwalk cloaked in destruction, his expression drops.
Attempting to escape through the way he came in would be a death wish. He’s trapped.
“You have to stop - please!”
Murphy laughs, that uncomfortable, agonised laugh that she did when she hurt. Flames begin to lick the floor, the kind that cannot be put out by mere chance. Bruises had bloomed from inside her head, burns mixing with the callouses on her hands, the body became singed. She-
“Stop? Stop? What? I- Am I-”
She would bring the world down upon herself, and she wanted to feel every single bit of it. Scrambling up onto the console, grabbing onto cables dripping to liquid, tighter as the pain seared through her hands. Behind her, screens flashed words that she couldn’t express, not in life, not the way that she’d always wanted to.
Were she still coherent, Murphy would find this so very enthralling.
Shisa frantically taps at his communicator as he retreats, but the face remains dark and he looks about the room for an alternative - the outer consoles. He types as fast as he can, only barely finishing his message before he’s forced to dart away from the now sparking machines. Before he leaves, he makes one last desperate attempt to call out to her -
“Murphy!”
- but he knows it’s hopeless. With nowhere else to go, he makes a break for the insulated platform, gritting his teeth as the heat of the electrical fires scald the soles of his shoes. He lands clumsily once he gets to the platform, leaving behind a familiar yellow-orange streak as he does so.
The errant bursts of electricity no longer threaten to arc up through Shisa’s spine, in this one rubber-floored foothold. Here’s the only problem: he’s trapped. The bulkheads of the island’s nerve-center are desiccating back in the flames to reveal gigantic dendrites of raw live wire, and the detonations they set off are zeroing in on his flanking-tower. In mere seconds his last bastion is surrounded by a scarlet ring of flame, lapping at the mechanical ramparts that could ignite the whole structure in an instant.
But a shape swells from the chamber’s entrance: a supermassive sunspot that distends its flame-warped shadow down the path. There’s the frame of a person, unmistakable, radiating penumbral mane in silhouette to the height of the rafters. Eyes that swallow light by day now flash through the smoke, toward the platform, toward her son.
(Shisa’s voice can barely be heard over the mechanical cacophony in the room, and yet, the words are so clear.)
“Gia! Gia, help!”
She drops her shoulders, and tears across the metal bridge.

BRAIN WOUND UPDATE #9 - But is a Concussion a "Wound"?
Proper Imaging Reveals the Physical Damage from Concussion and TBI
BRINGING YOU CURRENT INFORMATION ABOUT HOW TO HELP TREAT AND HEAL BRAIN WOUNDS: CONCUSSIONS, TBI, PTSD Advanced imaging is outpacing medicine's ability to keep up with implications of the "new" brain science, and the nature of brain wounding. Medical textbooks are out-of-date with respect both to the nature of brain wounds and treatments to heal those wounds. Drs. Carol Henricks and Paul Harch have put forward current scientific understandings.
Concussion: Not Just a Brain Bruise
Jun 30, 2022 08:00AM ● By Carol L. Henricks Awareness of concussion injury exploded with the movie Concussion in 2015. The correlation between multiple concussions and neurodegenerative conditions was brought to the big screen. The common analogy of concussion being a “brain bruise” suggests that it is a minor injury that should recover in a few days without any permanent consequences. However, this is not true. Our brains are uniquely designed and complex, more sophisticated than any computer. Every activity is a function of networks in the brain. The brain tissue injury that occurs as the result of concussion is complex and disruptive. Concussion is the result of many kinds of trauma that cause the brain to be shaken around inside the skull, causing diffuse axonal injury (DAI). DAI creates lesions all throughout the brain, damaging the myelin (the fatty coating around axons), and may cause damage to deeper axonal structures. Diffuse injury disturbs network communication in the brain. Synapses—where one brain cell or neuron uses neurotransmitters to communicate with another brain cell—can be pulled apart, therefore disrupting cell-to-cell communication. The microenvironment of electrolytes and other brain-specific chemicals around the brain cells, glia and other support cells is disrupted and may effect electrical conductivity and functioning of cells. Even a minor concussion may cause breaches in the blood brain barrier (BBB). A breach in the BBB allows chemicals, toxins and infections access to the brain when they would otherwise be blocked. The microtubular structure that internally organizes the neuron and allows transport of neurotransmitters to the synapse may be disrupted and disable cellular function. Brain cells that are damaged and not restored to function begin a process of degeneration; this dying back of the cell leads to cell death and brain atrophy. This is the definition of a neurodegenerative process. Neurodegenerative processes include dementia, Parkinson’s disease and ALS. Functional recovery—restoring the ability to read, sleep and balance, visual function and depth perception, cognitive activities and more—can be addressed by therapy, where some re-wiring and re-networking of the brain may occur. However, decline may still occur because functional recovery is different from biologically and physiologically healing the brain. Military veterans, first responders and athletes in contact sports are at great risk for concussion and recurrent concussion, which causes cumulative injury and a high risk for neurodegenerative conditions. Traditional Brain MRI sequences, even with contrast, do not aid in diagnosing concussion because they do not highlight the disconnections. Brain MRI – DTI (diffusion tensor imaging) sequencing and/or Brain Quality SPECT scanning are the imaging tools of choice. Objective computer-based functional testing, including the RightEyeQ test (a standardized objective test of visual fixation and follow), reaction time testing and formalized balance testing, are objective and predictive, which is a good way to establish a baseline. Take brain health seriously and pursue meaningful testing and active treatment for concussion. Carol L. Henricks, M.D. is a neurologist specializing in the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and PEMF at NorthStar Hyperbaric, in Tucson. (HBOT) saturates the body with oxygen, reducing inflammation and enhancing recovery from central nervous system injury. Connect at 520-229-1238 or NorthStarHBOT.com. ########## Dr. Paul Harch has cleared up the confusion In a seminal Meta Analysis: Systematic Review and Dosage Analysis: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Efficacy in Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Persistent Postconcussion Syndrome. TBI (5, 6) is a heterogeneous (7–27) diffuse physical injury to the brain that causes mechanical (7, 8, 28, 29) disruption of gray (22–24, 30, 31) and white (10, 15, 22, 23, 30, 32–35) matter, ischemia (36), hypoxia (29, 37, 38), edema (29, 39, 40), vasospasm (41, 42), release of neurochemicals (43, 44), and reperfusion injury (39, 45) and affects over 4.1 million people annually in the U.S. alone ( Read the full article

@stupidscav HELLO HELLO FELLOW MICROBIO LOVER!!! You're close with some of the names! Macro DOES mean big, and phage IS eat (although its more similar to 'a thing that eats'! Bursa is not bursaria though! its actually what the B in B-Cell means as all of my little guys are based off of specific microorganisms MAMA -> Mamavirus (A large, like- REALLY large virus that is known to infect protists like amoeba!) Sputnik -> Virophage (Virophages that infect Mamaviruses, Sputnik is a name for a specific kind of them if i remember correctly!) Phage -> Bacteriophage (A virus that specifically hunts Bacteria, known for being the 'class pet' of microbiology) (Ur right about the root Phage being eat! Bacteriophage is just commonly shortened to Phage in the Immuno world!) Bac -> Bacteria (YEAH you got this one right!) Neutra -> Neutrophil (You were on the dot! Neutro means Neutral! Although, its an odd name to give to a cell known for exploding itself to kill bacteria...) Axon -> Dendritic Cell (The joke with Axon's name is that Dendritic Cells are named because they look like Dendrites on a nerve cell, An Axon is also a part of a nerve cell!) Macro -> Macrophage (Quite literally A big thing that devours! Macropages are the janitors of the immune system, cleaning up cells that have committed apoptosis and also consuming invaders when need be... big guys.) Bursa -> B-Cell (You were a little far off with this one, Bursa is not short for Bursaria, although I see where that came from. B-Cells were originally named after the Bursa in a bird where B-Cells are produced, although its more common for them to be called Bone-Marrow Derived Cells (B-Cells still) nowadays!) Thyme -> T-Cell (Thyme as in Thymus-Cell! The thymus is little murder college where Immature T-Lymphocytes go to mature!) NK -> Natural Killer Cell (Cancer? Never heard of her) Eo is named after Eosinophils and Baso after Basophils, we actually know surprisingly little about them other than that they're involved in keeping parasites away and causing allergies! Fun! Ahhh sorry for rambling though I am so so in love with Microbio / Immuno so having someone respond in kind made me go!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! AGH!!!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
something something immunology special interest fueled local group!!! tumblr killed the quality so closeups below!!!
yahoo!! lookit them all!
