Hey all!
I hope everyone's had a Great week and been able to work towards some of their overall goals and been able to get in their garden.
Lettuce regrow update~
6 days ago I posted dabout a lettuce regrow (9 days old at time of picture) they've gotten some growth in that time.
Tumblr media
I did add to the lettuce bowl, a carrot top. Just to see if I can get it to sprout a flower stalk and maybe some seeds. (Added 3.13. 2023)
The celery has not much for movement, some spreading on the stalks. But haven't really seen any tangible rooting.
Tumblr media
Also a chick pic update~
Tumblr media
Lentil update as well~
Tumblr media
I had to pinch some flowers off the peppers, but their still a lil small for fruiting.
The Nasturtium is getting massive! I've gotta trim it up this week. I may even get around to trying a recipe with some of the leaves now. If not, the chickens will get the trimmings.

A small lil overlook~

Last week's goals I managed a batch of bagels and pretzels! Unfortunatly I think I got far too ambitious because they did not come out as delicious as I hoped.
But I'm gonna give at least bagels a go again this week! If I make a good batch I'll be freezing half of them for use throughout the month.
Also something not too awesome happened, something got into my seed starts and destroyed them, so I will not be showing seed starts yet. Friday I plan on redoing them (well what I can. Since some of the variety I no longer have. Well, I guess it means a different variety was desired is all lol.
This week I hope to get new seed starts going and the start of my flower patch in the back going.
I also want to make a sourdough dessert and try to get a rough idea of a month's worth of meal planning so I can make some bulk purchases of what I consider staples for the kitchen. (Flour, rice, yeast, sugar, noodles, some sauces and seasonings)
I would like to get some sewing and craft done this week. But we'll see how that goes lol.
What's everyone's plans/goals for their homesteads, Gardens or more sustainable/eco journey going?
🌱🐝 Happy Homesteadin and Gardening~ 🐝🌱

Harvested a bit of the ginger I experimented with growing this year and it looks great!
Tumblr media
I moved the pot of ginger inside to be a houseplant (and perhaps harvest from it when needed. I had started two additional plantings over the season that couldn’t be moved indoors as is, so I tried repotting them with mixed success—the gingerroot above came from one section that didn’t re-take. The original potting is thriving though and is nearly 3 feet tall.
Tumblr media
Anyway, I’ll definitely be repeating this next year.

Obviously, DnD characters are wish fulfillment and lots of people don’t want to address the slow senescence of the vulnerable human form in their fun games. That being said, narratively, I do think that levels should probably fluctuate over the course of a lifetime. The level twenty world-saver is going not going to stay level twenty into their old age—that’s not how athletes and retirement work! Wisdom and Charisma casters maybe, but your STR/CON/DEX builds are going to soften with age. They might still be the spryest bastards in the old people tai chi group, but “terrifyingly in shape 70 year old” is not the same as “deadliest man on the planet”. Drop those old folks a few levels, give them some creaky bones and presbyopia. It’s good for them, promise.

lovesick,
couldn’t help thinking of what it was like to love you.
even if i did alone to pass by,
the world ended consuming the mind.
yet, it all faded cause of you.
sick with love,
so ill that i ache.
if only these things worked.

Tiny post of excitement! (As well as a mini update!)
Tumblr media
Corn sprout spotted!!!
Im Even more excited because the expected germination date passed almost a week ago! Went out to reseed with the rest of the bag and peeled back the row cover to spot a few of these lil ones poking up :) so no reseeding of them at this time.
The plan for the corn row is to do a 3 sisters method row this year.
When the corn is about 3 inches tall, I'm gonna pop a few beans and pea seeds around each stalk (half and half row cover, we really like snap/sugar peas), once they've grown an amount I'm gonna plant some I think zucchini squash for ground cover.
There's also another lil grow experiment I'm giving a go~
I had some onions I purchased go to sprout. While I'm on a little regrow kick I decided, why not? At worst it doesn't work and at best I've got a new bulb/had flowers, or just learned it doesn't work 🤷‍♀️
In 5ish months (or if the onions just don't do well, in which theyll be pulled) hopefully we may see flowers!
Tumblr media
4 lil sprouted onion, peeled back to center and planted. (3-18-2023) I'm pretty sure I may have spaced them a bit much, but once they seem to root I'm going to sprinkle kale and chard seed around them.
onions companion planted with kale and chard are said to help repel pests like flea beetles, cabbage loopers, and aphids that like both.
That's it for now :) I hope everyone is having an ama,ing week so far!

So I came into possession of two sweet potatoes that were already significantly sprouting a month or two back. I had recently read up on how to produce your own sweet potato slips in preparation for trying to grow out a few of the more unusual varieties from the local International market. So I decided that it was a great opportunity to practice. And it’s been wildly successful!
Tumblr media
I mean, this is easy. I think the most difficult part will be to get them sprouting in the first place, which is why I will be purchasing the candidates this week to sit on the shelf for several months before trying to get them to do that. In the meantime I’m making myself some hanging houseplants (if they live until the warm weather returns, I’ll plant them out too).
Easy-peasy procedure: Trim the sprouts off the potato. Trim all the leaves off the bottom few inches. Put in water. Place somewhere warm. Roots appear in 24-48 hours. Let them elongate for a few days. Pot up.
