Hey all!
I hope everyone's had a Great week and been able to work towards some of their overall goals and been able to get in their garden.
Lettuce regrow update~
6 days ago I posted dabout a lettuce regrow (9 days old at time of picture) they've gotten some growth in that time.
I did add to the lettuce bowl, a carrot top. Just to see if I can get it to sprout a flower stalk and maybe some seeds. (Added 3.13. 2023)
The celery has not much for movement, some spreading on the stalks. But haven't really seen any tangible rooting.
Also a chick pic update~
Lentil update as well~
I had to pinch some flowers off the peppers, but their still a lil small for fruiting.
The Nasturtium is getting massive! I've gotta trim it up this week. I may even get around to trying a recipe with some of the leaves now. If not, the chickens will get the trimmings.
A small lil overlook~
Last week's goals I managed a batch of bagels and pretzels! Unfortunatly I think I got far too ambitious because they did not come out as delicious as I hoped.
But I'm gonna give at least bagels a go again this week! If I make a good batch I'll be freezing half of them for use throughout the month.
Also something not too awesome happened, something got into my seed starts and destroyed them, so I will not be showing seed starts yet. Friday I plan on redoing them (well what I can. Since some of the variety I no longer have. Well, I guess it means a different variety was desired is all lol.
This week I hope to get new seed starts going and the start of my flower patch in the back going.
I also want to make a sourdough dessert and try to get a rough idea of a month's worth of meal planning so I can make some bulk purchases of what I consider staples for the kitchen. (Flour, rice, yeast, sugar, noodles, some sauces and seasonings)
I would like to get some sewing and craft done this week. But we'll see how that goes lol.
What's everyone's plans/goals for their homesteads, Gardens or more sustainable/eco journey going?
🌱🐝 Happy Homesteadin and Gardening~ 🐝🌱

Hello from the briar patch! So I'm working on figuring out how I'm going plant my peppers. I didn't have any luck with the peppers that I tried to plant last year, so here's hoping this works better.
I'm going to try to make rectangular origami boxes from aluminum foil. I've got two spots on my windowsills, each of which is about four and a half by six and a half inches, so I want this whole thing to fit into a 4" by 6" area, so I can subdivide into six 2" squares.
Starting with a 4 inch by 6 inch piece of paper, I get a model that's... 2 inches by 3 inches, by 1 inch tall. That's actually pretty excellent, I can make a version of that which should be 4" by 6" by 2" pretty easily, and from there it's just a matter of making dividers.
And finished! Okay, cool. Here's what it looks like now.
Love it when a plan works out. And it fits pretty much perfectly into either window space! So let's make a second one.
Aaaand done. Here they are together. The second one is the one that looks nice! I was much more careful about the folds with that one, gotta say that origami really rewards the time taken.
Okay, dividers. Not gonna lie, I just messed around with this and I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, it's not pretty, but I think it'll work.
And with the trays finished, that's the planters! Hooray!
We'll see if they hold dirt, but I'm optimistic. This model has reinforced corners, and the dividers will brace against each other, so I think we'll be fine. My plan is to designate one as bells and one as jalapeños, and we'll see what grows.

lovesick,
couldn’t help thinking of what it was like to love you.
even if i did alone to pass by,
the world ended consuming the mind.
yet, it all faded cause of you.
sick with love,
so ill that i ache.
if only these things worked.

Obviously, DnD characters are wish fulfillment and lots of people don’t want to address the slow senescence of the vulnerable human form in their fun games. That being said, narratively, I do think that levels should probably fluctuate over the course of a lifetime. The level twenty world-saver is going not going to stay level twenty into their old age—that’s not how athletes and retirement work! Wisdom and Charisma casters maybe, but your STR/CON/DEX builds are going to soften with age. They might still be the spryest bastards in the old people tai chi group, but “terrifyingly in shape 70 year old” is not the same as “deadliest man on the planet”. Drop those old folks a few levels, give them some creaky bones and presbyopia. It’s good for them, promise.
#slamming a stick into the ground like the pope ‘MORE WIZARDS WITH MINOR COGNITIVE DECLINE’#old washed up bards and barbarians who had to get a hip replaced#the only classes that are probably immune to it are druids and clerics#based solely on the power of very old gardeners and priests#they’re probably good until they start losing 3x oriented#but even monks I I think have the right to take an arrow to the knee#the other aspect of this is differing lifespans which mean that when parties do get back together for a reunion tour#there are incentives to keep them apace with their peers#and the format of dnd means that the only other time most people see their old characters is in little cameos when friends gm#and no one wants to nerf their friend’s baby#but with in the era of more experimental actual play and game design#I think we can move past these hang ups and give the people what they deserve#old rogues with arthritis who are still really good but won’t stop complaining about their glory days

Tiny post of excitement! (As well as a mini update!)
Corn sprout spotted!!!
Im Even more excited because the expected germination date passed almost a week ago! Went out to reseed with the rest of the bag and peeled back the row cover to spot a few of these lil ones poking up :) so no reseeding of them at this time.
The plan for the corn row is to do a 3 sisters method row this year.
When the corn is about 3 inches tall, I'm gonna pop a few beans and pea seeds around each stalk (half and half row cover, we really like snap/sugar peas), once they've grown an amount I'm gonna plant some I think zucchini squash for ground cover.
There's also another lil grow experiment I'm giving a go~
I had some onions I purchased go to sprout. While I'm on a little regrow kick I decided, why not? At worst it doesn't work and at best I've got a new bulb/had flowers, or just learned it doesn't work 🤷♀️
In 5ish months (or if the onions just don't do well, in which theyll be pulled) hopefully we may see flowers!
4 lil sprouted onion, peeled back to center and planted. (3-18-2023) I'm pretty sure I may have spaced them a bit much, but once they seem to root I'm going to sprinkle kale and chard seed around them.
onions companion planted with kale and chard are said to help repel pests like flea beetles, cabbage loopers, and aphids that like both.
That's it for now :) I hope everyone is having an ama,ing week so far!

Harvested a bit of the ginger I experimented with growing this year and it looks great!
I moved the pot of ginger inside to be a houseplant (and perhaps harvest from it when needed. I had started two additional plantings over the season that couldn’t be moved indoors as is, so I tried repotting them with mixed success—the gingerroot above came from one section that didn’t re-take. The original potting is thriving though and is nearly 3 feet tall.
Anyway, I’ll definitely be repeating this next year.

Finally got around to buy a bag of soil with manure and one of compost and I made a small no-dig bed, I'm really curious to see if it'll work.
(there's cardboard underneath so it'll smother the weeds and get nitrogen on the soil while decomposing)
Here's the finished bed, I sow what seeds I had at home (spinach, lettuce and agretti and some allium and mixed bulbs that will flower in spring if all go well) and used some long pots as temporary sides so the new soil won't slid away when watered.
I'm pretty happy with the results (I used the fancy soil, 14€ for 90lit, less than I thought 👍) and found gardening as relaxing and satisfying as always.
I'll keep you posted on the progress :)
But now I'm curious....
