Obviously, DnD characters are wish fulfillment and lots of people don’t want to address the slow senescence of the vulnerable human form in their fun games. That being said, narratively, I do think that levels should probably fluctuate over the course of a lifetime. The level twenty world-saver is going not going to stay level twenty into their old age—that’s not how athletes and retirement work! Wisdom and Charisma casters maybe, but your STR/CON/DEX builds are going to soften with age. They might still be the spryest bastards in the old people tai chi group, but “terrifyingly in shape 70 year old” is not the same as “deadliest man on the planet”. Drop those old folks a few levels, give them some creaky bones and presbyopia. It’s good for them, promise.

Witch of Breath + Life Fraymotifs
Expiring Vivace
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Witch of Life [one who manipulates and manipulates through life, growth, and progression] (Feferi Peixes)
Expiring (from Ex, meaning outward, and spiration, or breathing. Also to reach the end of your lifespan.) + Vivace (meaning lively, louder, faster, brightly)
Okay this is the first of the lot and we're already getting silly. Generally, when two Heroes of the same Class work together, their abilities resonate off each other, compounding them into something more powerful than with an unrelated Classpect. The Witch of Life overloads the target with Life energy, causing them to become completely saturated with it; then the Witch of Breath would free the trapped life energy, which would drag the Target's life force with it as it rapidly escapes. Nothing like living to death, I suppose.

Progression (like growth and as in chord progression) + Ostinato (when a phrase or motif is persistently repeated)
Kinda boring for the name, but amazing for a healer build. The Witch detaches the Sylph's healing powers from them and allows it to move around the battle as a moving passive healing source, also granting their allies increased agility so that the Sylph is not defenseless or powerless.
Jewelweed Jamboree
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Knight of Life [one who protects and protects through life, growth, and progression]
Jewelweed (a type of flower that uses explosions for seed dispersal. Yes, this is a real thing) + Jamboree (a large celebration or party, typically a lavish and boisterous one)
The Knight will encase their allies in a perfect shield of vines and wood, which will then explode outward with a blast of air from the Witch, the shrapnel repaying any damage it sustained to the opponents in full.
Shucks Bluster
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Maid of Life [one who serves and serves through life, growth, and progression] (Jane Crocker)
Shucks(, Buster) + Bluster (relating to strong winds)
The Maid maintains the life force of their allies while the Witch summons a hurricane to consume the entire battlefield. Simple but effective.
Sforzando Tempest
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Page of Life [one who becomes and becomes fully realized through life, growth, and progression]
Sforzando (suddenly, full, all at once) + Tempest (an incredibly violent windstorm)
Pages are kind of limited due to them naturally having the slowest progression and growth. This is doubly so for the Page of Life who has yet to come into their own as a Hero of growth and progress. The Witch of Breath can only temporarily unlock the barrier keeping the Page down, but when they do, the Page would immediately and automatically use their Life powers to rapidly progress, growing in sheer power exponentially. With their command over Life unbound, the Witch acts as a beacon of freedom through which the Page can command Life and growth further than even a Sylph of Life or Maid of Life could. This requires great focus from the Witch due to how intrinsic that limiter is to the Page Class, and Sforzando Tempest does not last forever.
Now, if the Page was further along in development, then they would naturally progress faster than Pages of different Aspects, and the Witch would have to focus less to initiate this rapid onset character progression. Then, most of the Witch's abilities would instead of being used for removing the limits of the Page's Class, be put to removing the limits of the Page's Aspect. I honestly don't think anyone around the Page during Sforzando Tempest would be able to die. Just, they don't have the ability to die anymore, for a bit. Not to mention a huge stat boost across the board.
This is a different kind of potential reaching than Aranea with Jake “Tally Ho” English, as this is more of a "removing the game mechanic holding them back" instead of the "healing the personal block keeping you from fully realizing your potential" we see in the comic. That and this combo is a Fraymotif instead of a plain use of God-tier abilities, so this is on another level entirely on top of functionally being a special attack.
Epic of Bouzygai’s Movement
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Heir of Life [one who inherits and ascends through life, growth, and progression]
Epic (a long story, tale, and/or song) + Bouzygai (Character from Greek Myth credited with many agricultural inventions) + Movement (a self-contained musical form; like the song equivalent of a chapter)
The path of ascension is far smoother for an Heir than a Page, and doubly so for an Heir of Life. The Witch would free the Heir from their conditionally immortal form, causing the Heir to literally become their Aspect for a time, and the Aspect would act and function to the will of the Heir, who's motives naturally align with said will anyway. All healing, growth, desire, progress, and potential within the scope of the Fraymotif would be at the behest of the Heir for a time.
Holly Habanera
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Mage of Life [one who understands and understands through life, growth, and progression]
Holly (a berry plant with thorns on its leaves) + Habanera (a style of dance music popular in the 18th century)
The Mage summons sharp or thorny vines to grow across the whole battlefield, that the Witch detaches from the ground and cyclone around the enemies razor-leaf style. The Mage's magic powers cause them to continuously grow while air-borne, tangling the enemies in the damaging plantlife.
Sottea Leaf Voce
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Seer of Life [one who knows and knows through life, growth, and progression]
Tea Leaf (as in reading tea leaves as a form of divining the future) + Sotto Voce (With hushed voicing; in a hushed manner)
The Seer detects all life sources in the vicinity, then determines how the health of their allies will change in the imminent future. The Witch uses their abilities to detach the favored parties from the events that would lead up to that.
Spirattacca
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Thief of Life [one who steals and steals through life, growth, and progression] (Meenah Peixes)
Spir- (aspirate, to breathe; spirit, or life force) + Attacca (attached to)
The Witch allows the Thief's powers to flow through and permeate a crowd, setting in leeching seeds that will drain the afflicted targets of their life force. The Witch can then forcibly expel them from the target, turning the sprouts into projectiles similar to a frag grenade.
Piacavole Sigh
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Rogue of Life [one who redistributes and redistributes through life, growth, and progression]
Piacavole (pleasant, agreeable) + Sigh (sigh)
The Rogue guide the Witch's wind powers to draw out some of the Life of the target through the target's exhalation. The breath, carrying the Life energy of the target, is spread across the Witch's allies, invigorating them with a fraction of the target's vitality and powers
Respiro Finale
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Prince of Life [one who destroys and destroys through life, growth, and progression]
Respiro (Italian for Breath) + Finale (Ending, conclusion, final)
The Witch directs the Prince's life-destroying abilities to accelerate the death of the target through asphyxiation, while the Witch floods the target's lungs with air, but prevents any air from leaving.
Soprano Spores
Witch of Breath [one who manipulates and manipulates through freedom, detachment, and wind] + Bard of Life [one who allows the destruction of and invites destruction through life, growth, and progression]
Soprano (the highest voice in a chorus) + Spores (reproductive cells of plants, fungi, and some bacteria)
This one's honestly more brutal than Respiro Finale; The Witch directs the winds to carry the Bard's powers in the form of plant spores to the target, to which the Bard and Witch work together to unlock the upper bounds of the plant spore's limit of growth, causing the target to have plants and mushrooms and vines destroy their body from the inside, leaving an overgrown corpse.

Mario
Mario Brothers 3 is the definitive version of what a Mario Game should be.
Before Super Mario World, SMB3 came out at the end of the original NES lifespan. It often gets overlooked for just how innovative it actually was.
Taking in Designs from the other project "Doki Doki Panic", which ended up reskinned into Mario2 for North America, Super Mario pushed the NES to its absolute limits, with a modern a design that capstone's everything Nintendo Learned about video game and software design up to that point.
Seriously, Compare Mario 1 to Mario 3...
Mario 1 is extremely limited in every aspect from graphics, to music, to color and scope.
And Mario 3 is goshdarn Stage Play.
Many fans of the series Praise Super Mario World for reinventing the series, but I honestly believe it was SMB3, and, I think 3 was even more innovative than World.
Because a lot of what world did, was exactly what SMB3 with some extra bells and whistles. They showed off what the SNES was capable of, but it didn't really push the hardware's limits.
I'd say the closest game we had to pushing the hardware's Limits was Star Fox, even though there were games that literally needed more storage and power than your average cartridge could do.
Super Mario World isn't that much of an upgrade. But it does give us a lot of freshness that we don't actually see in Mario Games these days. (Or many games at all these days.)
I would say that it wasn't until Mario64 that we got that *extra* oomph that can be felt in Mario3 vs Mario2 and 1.
And this continues to this day, despite the many iterations and variations of Mario since then, the most innovative and really inventive Mario Game that we've seen since is Luigi's Mansion.
Even the Wario (Not WarioWare) that we got on GameCube wasn't as good as the Gameboy Wario Game that it was based on.
And it's really fine, as Mario's entire niche is as a beginner friendly game that eases players into gaming and the digital world as a whole.
But why does Mario 3 stand out, even when Mario World doesn't? Not that Mario world *doesn't*. It just feels like the original Mario 2 that was released in Japan.
I mean, not as difficult, for sure. But the difference in design? Slight modifications, different levels.
Honestly, Mario Maker is probably the absolute freshest Mario will *ever* get.
Giving players the power to design levels is fantastic, despite the draw to Kaizo inspired levels.
And yet ... What is it about Mario 3 that keeps drawing my attention to it? I could say it's the one game I actually shared with my father. But that's not the whole reason. Sure we've got parent/child bonding time over it.
But there's something else about Mario 3 in general.
It's jena se quois. The invention and story about Mario that doesn't exist these days.
It starts with a stage play. Despite being the main character, Mario could probably double as the stage and set builder. And probably is.
It is literally a playground for Mario and Luigi. The opening cinematic is them practicing their Mario skills.
Even though its purpose is to show off why you should want to play the game, and give hints as to how to play.
Then there's the ability to drop behind the stage... Power-ups that you rarely see and that some players have never seen during it's original release. Like the Teddy Bear and the Hammer Bro suits. (I said teddy bear to distinguish Tanuki Suit better, as Tanuki and Racoon tail could sound similar.)
Introduced design concepts that were later reintroduced in Mario Party.
What is this draw that this faux Kabuki Theater has?
I think it's that the game introduced this world *outside* the game they are playing. They are characters inside this play, but they definitely exist outside it as well.
And the characters and actors themselves get along outside that, despite putting on this play and overacting.
And the different "Mario Worlds" are different productions that the characters themselves put on.
It's *this* feeling that was removed from subsequent Mario games.
A game about a plumber and his friends and family putting on a show for shots and goggles.
I think *that's* what modern Mario is missing. After the Mario game and his fight against D K. They went their separate ways and started using those stages for Kabuki Theater--Just because it was a fun thing to do.
And that's why they regularly have reunions over go-kart, board games, and tennis.
Luigi's Mansion takes place in *this* world outside of the stage play. Perhaps he's putting on his own show, because he likes the Halloween motif. Like your autistic Goth Jack Skelington fanatic.
I think this is the avenue Mario *should* explore. I think it would help give depth and sticking power to the spin-offs seem to be missing these days as well.
Though, they kind of do in Paper Mario. But only Kinda sorta.

This challenge was created by myself and my friend Amy because who doesn’t want to see this kind of crossover? This is a 10 generation legacy challenge with a threaded storyline inspired by songs off of Harry’s self-titled album “Harry Styles (2017)” and “Fine Line (2019)”.
Basic Rules:
You can select who will be the heir for the next generation. There are no restrictions on how many children each heir can have!

roark's expertise with fossils in particular has much to do with the fact he is a trainer before he's a researcher—oreburgh museum's staff are versed in handling rock types and fossils alike, but from a more academic perspective, that is, what habitat is best for them, an optimal diet, enrichment activities, data collection, overall health, all things that are more or less objectively required for a fossil to survive. the staff are incredibly versed in their education and research, but that doesn't particularly lend them much time to handle much else.
that's where roark comes in, who handles a lot of the social and mental aspects of handling fossils, aside from training. allowing them to actually thrive in the modern age is essentially what both him and his father specialize in, especially seeing as he's essentially grown up exclusively with them. roark focuses on their quality of life, especially since he will often train fossils freshly revived through the oreburgh gym. with that, he's also responsible taking care of their physical form as well. modern society isn't particularly made for 'mons of 100 million years ago, and with that, roark has become somewhat of a fossil veterinarian. he does this often with ramses and other bipedal fossils primarily, but roark manhandling dinosaurs to give them a hip adjustment is a frequent occasion—he's essentially become a glorified reptile chiropractor and masseuse.
aside from the pain relief and making sure the young ones grow properly lest there's deformities, there isn't much he can do about the fact fossils really aren't meant for concrete and urban areas aside from taking proper care of them on a weekly basis. he does love this aspect of his job at the museum immensely though, seeing for his love of rock types is rigid as ever—developing a strong and loving bond and in the process, teaching fossils how to interact with humans ( their future partners in either battle or contests or just daily life!! ) is purely rewarding in his eyes. he strives to make sure that anyone who wants to raise a fossil will have everything at their disposal to give it the best life possible. fossils themselves do not have the longest lifespans despite their typings often being rocks, but given their original ecosystems being both incredibly dangerous but apt to fit their evolution, the few decades some of them likely lived to has since been halved ( by the his guess, anyway ) being introduced into a modern society through restoration. even the shieldon that naturally hatch on iron island under byron's supervision do not have the longest of life expectancies, even with their steel typing. from what the rock family understands though, they suspect bastiodon live about twice as long as rampardos ( which means ramses is heading into the last third of his life, and bastiodon herself is already basically a happy senior lady ). it would take several generations to really see any difference, but iron island itself is one of the few regions in sinnoh that are the closest to being to their natural habitat.
nonetheless, roark does his part in making the transition to the present age as smooth as possible, even going as far to teach interested parties how to best adjust to having a fossil as part of their home. those who approach him at the gym may often receive an excessive amount of training advice and a showcase about the kind of potential fossils offer, especially since there are no shortage of fossils being used in the competitive scene. roark ends up being quite the point of contact for more practical advice if he's not caught in the museum itself ( he's also just immensely more easier to get a hold of than his dad when he moved permanently out of oreburgh ), but he doesn't mind at all. in fact, he welcomes it! genuine interest makes him incredibly happy, especially when it's potential forever homes. that isn't to say the museum pumps out revived fossils by the tens or hundreds, however—in the lucky event a fossil is even discovered at all, there's also the complicated process of extracting it in the state it was found in, and then the inspection to see if there's enough of a specimen available to restore the rest of it. but, with roark's dedication ( mental illness ), some months have seen a surplus in little guys running around. roark often fosters a few at a time at home to acclimate them, with ramses as their first social contact that's familiar, then aerodactyl. the house in oreburgh has enough land for baby fossils to get used to their surroundings safely. roark's own team is involved with keeping an eye on them if he's not able to, but it's a rather lively and fun process. come bother him once in awhile and he might have a foster or three!!

Birthday Escapade.
A Malleus Draconia and reader birthday fic.
Words: 2488.
Coloured banners were strung up on the walls, decorating the Diasomnia dorm in an almost welcoming glow. Black and green lines of fabric, embroidered with the inviting message of celebration. What had once been a room of polite gathering, had transformed into a much liver scene. Purple vines stuck out from the ground, acting more as decoration to the party, mimicking the witches of thorns power. Tables covered with delectable food as far as the eye could see. Edible works of art displayed for anyone to reach out and take. The most lavished of cakes being saved for the main table. The centrepiece of the room, almost impossible to miss, was a black sign coated in thorns, spindling a twisted birthday wish. Lilia had wasted no expense making sure everything was perfect. He had planned the entire thing. After all, this wasn't just anyone's birthday. It certainly was a change of pace for the normally dark and dreary castle.
The entire Diasomnia dorm seemed more colourful than usual, and not just aesthetic wise. The sombre atmosphere was lifted with the sounds of delightful laughter and idle celebration. Students of the dorm gathered in the main foyer, enjoying themselves as they chatted away to their fellow classmates without a care in the world. However, the most important aspect of this celebration was missing.
Malleus Draconia was no where to be found.
His guards, Sebek and Silver, had been scouting the dorm trying to find their lost master. They had checked down every hallway and searched all the rooms. Not a single stone was left unturned nor a speck of dust lingered in the process. They were at their wits end. Sebek's voice boomed throughout the dorm, ricocheting off the stone castle walls. Malleus's name sounded akin to thunder as it stormed every inch of the perimeter. It was uncertain which would give out first. His voice or the other students eardrums.
You, however, knew better than to waste time on searching Diasomnia. If Malleus had fled, there was no way he would stick to the confines of the dorm. That was just too simple. Begrudgingly you left the Diasomnia dorm and headed back towards the hall of mirrors. When thinking of a safe heaven, there was only one place that came to mind. You knew exactly where he would be.
Ramshackle. It was very different compared to the other dorms. A shabby and old building that was as creepy as it was comforting. An uneven fence carved from iron surrounded the perimeter, acting more like a cage, warning those who pass by not to trespass. The vacant space and lack of activity made people wonder if it was simply just unfinished or abandoned. It certainly looked run down, even more so before Azul had it refurbished to extend his business. Luckily for you, that plan never came to fruition, so you could keep the haunted mansion you called home.
As you approached, you could see the last remnants of winter still holding onto the Ramshackle dorm. Snow melted into the ground, slowly decaying into the soil as the seasons begin to change. The sugar coated season sluggishly torn away to be replaced with another. It wasn't hard to miss him. His raven black hair and pointed horns stuck out among the crisp white scenery. He stood against the decaying tree, leaning into the wood as if he was trying to merge himself into the plant. He was looking across the garden, but turned his head around when hearing your approach. "Ah, human." He greeted you casually, giving an affirmative nod of his head. "To what honour do I owe you this visit?"
"Where have you been?" You questioned him, finally making your way up the steps and standing in front of him. He seemed taken aback at your forceful question. Why, he had just greeted you with a polite hello and you were already interrogating him. "The party has already started, and you're not even there!"
Malleus quirked his head to the side. "Oh, was that today?" There was something different about his voice. The way his words lingered in the air, laced with a playful tone that spelled mischief. You looked down at his attire. Black dress shirt with a white suit jacket over the top. Black and green sash. There was no way he dressed up like that on a whim. This surely couldn't have been a coincidence. Malleus noticed your stare, lingering on his outfit for a little longer than necessary. "Must have slipped my mind."
"Please don't tell me someone forgot to invite you to your own birthday." You hated to think he was acting like this because of some kind of petty vendetta against you. It wasn't anything new that people often forgot to invite him to events, whether that be the dorm leader meeting or social gatherings, but his own birthday? That must have cut deep.
Malleus chuckled. "Fuhuhuhu. That would be quite entertaining, wouldn't it? Forgetting to invite me to my own birthday. How quaint." He waved his hand. "No, I received an invite. I was even enjoying myself. And I appreciate how much effort Lilia put into the décor. I've just never been the one to enjoy these types of parties. It just feels so... Strange." Malleus looked down at his attire, emerald eyes observing the trinkets that decorated the white jacket. The handmade broach that resembled the curved horns that stuck out from his head. The black and green coloured badge that all to obviously drew attention to the date. Reminding everyone within a mile radius just who the special birthday boy was. He was used to being adored in lavished clothing, being of royal decent, so having an outfit that was traditional for many others was relieving.
"The concept of birthdays... Forgive me but I've never embraced them fully, never needed to." You gave Malleus a quizzitive look, tilting your head a little to the side, imploring him to elaborate. He understood your plight and began to explain. "Compared to humans, fae live for an unnaturally long time. Our lifespans far surpass your own. Why, generations from now I'll still be alive. Wise with time and knowledge. Watching over the world behind the thicket of thorns. And you'll-" He stopped mid sentence. There was no need to continue. You both knew where you would be generations from now. Malleus blinked, the slightest glint of sadness present in his eyes. Possessing the power of longevity was something that many craved to have, but needless to say it did come with its consequences. The burden weighed on the back of his mind like an oncoming storm.
Malleus cleared his throat, "Very strange indeed. You humans celebrate yearly the date of your birth, yet to us fae it is nothing more than a number. Even though I wish I could feel the same connection to it that you do. Maybe then I wouldn't feel such like an outcast..." Malleus blinked as he felt something touch his head. Unconsciously his hand had reached up towards his horns, bringing attention one of the many aspects about him that was different to humans. He was proud of his fae heritage, but always felt like it held him back when trying to forge connections. "Tell me, human." He brought his hand back down. "Am I forever cursed to be an outcast from a gathering? Even one of my own terms? I'm always one to be vacant, not on my own accord. My invitation being left blank while others have been sealed. So forgive my absence when for once I'm expected to be there."
"Tsunotarou-" You had to stop yourself, almost biting down on your tongue. Now possessing the knowledge of his name, it seemed needless to try and use the old nickname you gave him. It was sentimental, in a way. A name that only you could call him. A name made up on the spot yet seemed to fit a little too well. It always made your heart flutter whenever you used it. The way Malleus's eyes would light up in amusement, entertained by the fact anyone would ever consider calling him something so simple. Sometimes it was hard to conceal the corners of his mouth twinging upward in delight. You apologised and corrected yourself, "I mean, Malleus." It was an easy mistake to make. The way his actual name slipped off your tongue somehow sounded wrong. You had gotten a little too comfortable with that nickname. You hoped Malleus wouldn't mind.
To your surprise, Malleus grinned. A slight chuckle slipped between his lips. He was more taken aback by the fact that had felt the need to correct yourself then the use of his nickname. He was aware of your caution, and reassured you. "You may address me however you wish, child of man." Malleus turned his head to the side, looking off into the distance, and placed an hand thoughtfully on his chin. "I must admit, I have grown quite fond of that little nickname you call me. I do not mind being called that name," His attention was brought back to you, dazzling green eyes locking with your own. He huffed out a small laugh. "If you are the one to address me, that is."
You nodded your head, secretly gracious that he was allowing you to continue using that name. But you needed to address his previous statement. "It's understandable that you would feel this way. Being ostracized from a group can be quite intimidating." You sighed. "Trust me, I've been there. And sometimes it feels like you'll never truly belong." Malleus raised his brow. Were you trying to help him feel better or worse?
"But believe me when I say that the people there want you to be there too. They want you to enjoy yourself just as they have. And..." Your words trailed off. Your own voice getting quieter and quieter until even you couldn't hear it anymore. Words did not fail you at that moment. It was clear what you wanted to say. Whether or not you had the strength to say it was a different matter. Your eyes were in agreement, preferring to look at the ground below you rather than the person in front. Was it really that difficult to show your own emotions? You did genuinely enjoy your time together, and wanted it to last longer. Yet somehow whenever you tried to express this fact to him, something always stopped you. A defence mechanism that instinctively held you back. You looked back at Malleus. He stood still, patiently waiting for you to continue. You were thankful for his tolerance. Giving a curt nod of your head, you took a deep breath in, and exhaled. "...I want you to be there. I want you to be happy, on your special day."
You braced yourself, ready for any sort of negative response. But as you waited in anticipation for a verbal reply, Malleus gave none. Instead he began to laugh. A slight chuckle that started out as a growl, but then gradually grew into a light laugh. He brought his hand up to his mouth, trying to cover it up, but he would have to try harder than that to stifle this laugh. You were confused. Was it something you said? Did it sound condescending? Needy? Selfish? That wasn't your intention at all! You just wanted to give him some reassurance.
His laughter eventually died down, allowing him to breathe steadily again. "Child of man, how presumptuous of you." A light titter escaped from his lips again. Whatever he had found entertaining about your statement, he clearly wasn't done. You furrowed your brow in suspicion as Malleus calmed himself yet again. "I do not need a celebration or to be surrounded by guests to be happy." He took another step closer, towering over you like a gargoyle, but it was not intimidating. The soft look on his face quelled any fears of threatening nature. It was actually quite surprising how peaceful he looked. "With you, I already am."
You had to turn your head away at that, letting out a small squeak that sounded more attune to a quack. Hearing such a genuine sentiment from him felt like wildfire had struck your heart, and it felt like it wasn't going to subside anytime soon. It was wishful thinking, but you hoped you didn't make your answer too evident. However, giving such an obvious expression meant it was easy for him to pick up. Malleus smirked at your reaction. Instinctively he placed his hand upon your head, smoothing his thumb gently over the grooves in your hair. He thought it was cute. Like a docile pet receiving praise.
You waved his hand off of you, not needing to feel anything more at the moment. You had wasted enough time standing here. It would be best to return the birthday boy back to his dorm. "I think we had better get back, your guards are in a frenzy over your disappearance." Malleus let out a small sigh. It was time to return to the party. After all, he wouldn't be considered a very good host if he was missing for the entire event. How else was he suppose to show he was worthy of peoples trust if he did not throw a good party? He was ready to return to the dorm, with you accompanying him. "Yes, I think I've troubled them for long enough."
You laughed, thinking about Sebek and Silver stumbling over themselves trying to find their dorm leader. Lilia wouldn't be too bothered, you thought, if you returned Malleus in time for his celebration. Turning around on your heels, you lead the way back towards the gate, eager to return to the party. At last, you could finally have a piece of that delectable looking cake. It had been on your mind the second you stepped into the dorm.
Before you could place a hand on the gate, Malleus called from behind. "And human?" You stopped in your tracks and turned to face him. He stood still, refusing to move unless he spoke. His face bore the same amused express, but this time it was different. It was gentle. His eyes holding nothing but appreciation for the human that stood before him. Someone who didn't see him as the terrifying figurehead of the Draconia family that so many made him out to be. Someone who wasn't afraid around him. Someone he was very thankful to have met. "Thank you, for seeking me out." He stepped forward, now walking by your side. It felt good for him to have someone beside him that didn't cower in fear nor turn away in intimidation. It made him feel accepted. "And for escorting me back."

Quick Facts
-As Hanyuu is in Higurashi, Featherine is the closest being to a god in Umineko. However, while gods in Higurashi are related to Shinto concepts (plus parasites and viruses and aliens), Umineko’s godhood is based on the idea of an author being god of their story, summoning universes out of the nothingness of a blank page.
-Featherine’s unusual name is probably a reference to Hanyuu. The kanji for Hanyuu (羽入) are “羽=feather” and “入=in”. And Augustus Aurora = Hanyuu’s “Au au” catchphrase. Hachijou (八城) can also be read “yashiro,” as in Oyashiro-sama.
-Physically, Featherine appears as an elegant adult woman whose exact age is hard to place. She does not have horns, but she does have that suspiciously horn-like memory device floating around her head.
According to that Umineko Episode 8 battle scene linked above, Featherine’s memory device once was damaged, leading to Featherine having a different personality and appearance for a time.
(As it so happens, Hanyuu has a chipped horn and a very different personality from Featherine, what an intriguing coincidence...)
-Long before the events of Umineko, Featherine ascended to the realm of the gods and returned. She also goes through a cycle of sleep/death and rebirth which can last centuries. All aspects that call to mind that ascension Hanyuu mentions in Saikoroshi.
-Outside the Meta-World, Featherine’s double is a mysterious and reclusive author who goes by many names. (Hachijou Tohya is just one of them.)
-Remember how Ooishi and Akasaka write a book called “Higurashi no naku koro ni” in-universe? Umineko does something similar, but explores the idea even further. Hachijou is the supposed in-universe author of some of Umineko’s arcs, and as such, some fans consider Featherine/Hachijou as a stand-in for Ryukishi07 himself.
Personality
-Much as Bern’s personality is similar to “dark Rika” but kicked up to eleven, Featherine’s personality is similar to Hanyuu when Hanyuu acts as a god. She’s calm, serious, and refers to humans as “child of man.”
-Lacking Hanyuu’s shy and childish mannerisms, Featherine comes across as intimidating and rather condescending. Though she’s more polite and reasonable than the average witch. (Which honestly says more about other witches than her, really...)
-Bern and Lambda are very fey-like, tricking and tempting mortals into doing what they want. Featherine, in contrast, doesn’t use tricks or threaten violence because she doesn’t need to. Asking for consent from mortals is a gesture of respect from her - you don’t have the ability to refuse.
-In almost the inverse of Hanyuu, Featherine has no problems getting other characters to perceive her; indeed, she’s subtle but often quite forceful about dragging others into conversations inside her realm.
-Also unlike Hanyuu, Featherine has no particular love of sweets (that’s Lambda), and does seem to enjoy alcohol.
-Featherine, an ancient being, suffers from the “disease” of boredom. Entertaining herself with stories is the only medicine for this ailment, and the relief it provides is only temporary.
-As such, Featherine enjoys stories as deeply and thoroughly as possible. Meaning, she doesn’t just appreciate mysteries and characters as they’re first presented - she also likes to “tear out the guts” to see what makes them tick.
...Not with her own hands of course! That’s Bern’s job.
What, did you think you were done with the Watanagashi imagery when you finished Higurashi?
-At several points in Umineko, Featherine a gets called a monster. While this may be yet another callback to Higurashi, unlike Hanyuu who hates that label, Featherine takes it as a compliment.
-So… is Featherine evil? Many characters, and even Ryukishi07 himself in interviews, call her such. That being said, in Umineko, Featherine can be callous, but she doesn’t revel in sadism the way other witches do. Although, presumably she was much worse in the past...
Abilities
-Featherine is the “Witch of Theatergoing” - she is primarily a spectator to the events of Umineko, rather than a player on the stage. (Just like Hanyuu.)
-Bern’s “Theatergoing Authority” may derive from her. She also has the ability to instantly promote a character to the position of Game Master.
-Featherine is an author and therefore a “Creator,” surpassing the level of even powerful witches like Bern and Lambda. Her powers function as her breaking the fourth wall and literally writing the rest of the script on a page.
-Like Hanyuu, Featherine can stop time. Though unlike Hanyuu, Featherine can act in the frozen time, including that aforementioned reality writing.
-Featherine’s home is the *deep breath* “Great Witch of Theatergoing, Drama, and Spectating's Noble City of Carefully Selected Books” - an impossibly large magical library filled with countless stories, each a universe of their own like a Fragment. (Everyone just calls it the “City of Books.”)
-Featherine’s servants are the main characters of these stories, now in the form of black cats.
-Featherine’s relationships with her mikos are also through the lens of an author. Featherine’s mikos are also known as “Readers” - they narrate the events of a game board to Featherine. As an author is a god, a reader is also able to put their own interpretation on the story they tell.
Featherine and Bernkastel
-As Hanyuu is to Rika, so Featherine is to Bern... more or less. They’re still a god and her miko.
-Unlike Rika and Hanyuu, Bern and Featherine do not share their senses.
-Rika and Bern have both lived beyond a normal human’s lifespan, but they both still consider themselves young in comparison to Hanyuu/Featherine’s ancient existence.
-When Rika would bully Hanyuu, Hanyuu did little but cry and complain. Bern still backtalks and is generally disrespectful of Featherine, but the result is different - Bern’s the one acting defensive and scared while Featherine is merely amused by it.
-Bern is also distrustful yet subservient toward Featherine in a way Rika never was to Hanyuu.
-However, when Bern is in danger, she will demand that Featherine help her, much as how Rika did the same to Hanyuu once in Matsuribayashi.
Featherine and Lambdadelta
-Featherine and Lambda appear to be on amicable, if not especially close terms.
-On Featherine’s side, she primarily seems to know Lambda as Bern’s friend and playmate.
-On Lambda’s side, she knows she’s completely outclassed by Featherine, and is very afraid of crossing her.
-Lambda does know quite a bit about Featherine - including that tidbit about Featherine’s personality change in the past.
Featherine in Higurashi Gou?

The Rainbow Vibes Legacy
Challenge Summary: This is a challenge that can very easily be compared to any legacy challenge from the Sims. This is a challenge where you will start by creating a single sim. This sim will have kids. You will choose one of the children to be the focus and heir to the next generation. You will play this family for 10 generations. Since this is a Rainbow Legacy each generation will be represented by a color and will each have their own set of rules and goals to accomplish.
Challenge Rules:
Each generation heir will represent the color of their generation through as many ways as you can such as clothes and home decor.
-Any spouse/partner of your generational heir must be made to reflect the color of that generation heir as well if added to the household (The person the Pink heir marries should also reflect the color pink).
All children of your heir should reflect the color for the next generation. (All the children of the Pink generation should represent the color red).
When the first child child of a generation reaches the Young Adult state you are required to decide which child will be the heir of the next generation no matter the age of the children younger than the oldest. (If the oldest child becomes a YA and the youngest is a toddler you can still choose the toddler as the next heir).
Once the heir reaches Young Adulthood their Generation part of the challenge begins!
Once a new Generation color starts you must move to a new home. The former heir and heir’s spouse/partner (if living) is required to move with you. (If there are younger siblings then they are required to move with you as well but can be moved out once they reach the YA state). Every home you live in is required to be built by you. Each move should be a world different than the one that was lived in the generation before. However you can repeat worlds of non-consecutive generations (Gen Orange can live in the same world Pink lived in).
Before moving you must spin a wheel to determine how many simolians the next gen will start with. You can use any wheel spinning app or website (such as https://wheelofnames.com/) to spin a wheel to find out if you will keep all funds currently in the household, half the funds, a quarter of the funds, or an eighth of the funds. Once you have spun the wheel you will set your money to the value selected by the wheel and use the money cheat to set your household funds to that amount.
Lifespans are required to be kept normal and you can only age up a sim when it is their birthday.
No cheats other than bb.moveobjects (and the money cheat when specified to do so) are allowed to be used.
You must accomplish AT LEAST one whim your heir sim has EVERYDAY.
Lastly you are required to have a display or area (can be in your home or on another lot) that shows all the heirs (can be pictures, paintings, or anything that represents them for you) and different “artifacts” from each generation.
Generation 1: White “Perfection”
Summary: You are the founder to this vibrant legacy and all you want is the perfect happy family and life. However that isn’t very so easy to accomplish. You are also going to have you’re very own shop. In this shop you will sell only things that you produce or find yourself! This can be paintings, photography, food, etc.
Generation Rules:
Traits: Perfectionist, Family-Oriented, and Proper
Complete the Super Parent aspiration
Must open your own shop. You can, but don’t have to, live in the shop (But remember babies will stay at the home lot until they are toddlers).
Must have at least 5 children.
Required to Master the parenting skill
Master 2 other skills of your choice excluding the parenting skill. (These skills can be used to make sellable items for the shop)
Have at least 5 children (adoption is okay but you must adopt a toddler).
Keep all children at an A level in school. If a child ever gets lower then they are required to stay at home except for going to school and at school they must always “Work Hard”
You can’t be disliked by any Sims.
When the next heir has been decided you must retire and sell your shop. (Before you spin the wheel to decide the next generation’s starting funds)
Generation 2: Pink “Vanity”

Nine muses legacy challenge
Do you like Greek mythology? Do you want to explore different aspects of the game you've never yet played with? Even if you don't I have the perfect challenge for you!
I proudly present to you the nine muses legacy challenge, a nine generation legacy (duh..) based (very loosely) on the myth of the nine muses, deities and daughters of Zeus from Greek mythology.
Basic Rules:
1. cheats are allowed, basically just play however you want to whilst entertaining the rules of each generation
2. you may live in whichever world, and which ever property or would like, provided it is not otherwise stated for that specific generation.
3. you must complete the goals of the current generation, before moving on to play with the next generation.
4. play with the lifespan on normal.
5. You can name the sims after the generations (these are the names of the original 9 muses) however this is optional
6. go ahead and use #nmlegacy if you play this challenge because I really would love to see you play this or even just create the characters in CAS
Generation 1: Clio
Your sim has always been a huge history buff and has always loved the idea of a big family to share their passion with. They have always been good at anything they tried, but most of all value relationships with friends and family. Your sim tries to live their life as much as possible trying to learn as many skills, and meet as many new people as possible on the way.

At least they feel they are doing something productive.

DnD elves are boring and they shouldn’t be.
Okay maybe that’s a bit harsh but c’mon! we’re talking about the face of the fantasy genre ever since Tolkien reinvented what we all thought fantasy could be. Ethereal beings of magic and myth with lifespans so impossibly long compared to humans that we can hardly fathom what their alien minds and vast memories must contain. Elves hold such an iconic niche in these stories that writers can’t help but create a billion different flavors of elf, everything from dark elves to sea elves to seasonal elves, and if you’re in an Elder Scrolls setting then screw it, ORCS ARE ELVES TOO THERE. But so often I see writers and game masters treating them like just long lived humans with a little bit of magical knowledge sprinkled in there. I feel this is something of a waste when there’s so much to work with and so here’s my rant on cool ways to build elf societies based on the traits they have in the DnD 5e players handbook! Alright first thing’s first lets talk alignment, that issue that has never caused an argument ever. The PHB states that for the most part, elves lean towards chaotic good, and therefore when planing out their civilization, we should reflect their values in it. Chaotic (paradoxically) doesn’t necessarily mean disorderly in DnD. Sure, we’ve all had that one player who writes Chaotic Neutral on their sheet to justify being a maniac with no good justification for their violence, but let’s think about what a chaotic good society looks like. I feel that the best way to find what chaotic GOOD is, we need an example of chaotic EVIL. Now as I’m writing this WOTC is printing revised versions of the rules to do away with a lot of the racial coding in the game and to rewrite things so that races are not innately evil. This is cool, its rad, it helps the game feel more welcoming to every one. Now that we’re clear on that let’s use the classic portrayal of Orc society as our example for chaotic evil! CE Orc tribes believe that might makes right and that the biggest orc is in charge. If you’re an orc and you disagree with the chief, then either the chief stabs you for disobeying them or you stab the chief and now congrats you’re the new chief! There aren’t a lot of official rules for this kind of succession. Sure there might be trials and rituals for these combats, but a new chief could just declare that they won’t do those any more. If the tribe disagrees, they fight the chief over it. Rinse and repeat, there is no solid code, and everything can shift based on the whims of who can and does make it happen. The aspect of constant change is what makes it chaotic, but it’s the violence that makes it evil. So now let’s reimagine this system for the elves. in this example, a CG society can be just as mutable and changing as the orc tribes. It would shift at random intervals based on who can and does cause the shift. But if not through violence, then how is the society’s leadership found? Is there an elf monarch? How do they stay in power if their society rejects the ideals of law? The PHB describes elves as having a love for art and the gentler aspects of chaos. Use this in your writing to come up with different trials or challenges elves might have for one another to earn power in society. Maybe it’s the elf with the best story at this years festival who leads the group for the next year. Maybe it’s the elf who creates the greatest work of art. Maybe it’s the elf who tops the record set by the previous ruler in some great challenge. Whatever the case, remember that elf society should be as ready to change and as unpredictable to outsiders as the CE orc example. Make chaos feel chaotic! Keeping all that in mind, it can be confusing to think about why all elves have martial training. Be they High elf, Wood elf, or even Drow, all elves start the game proficient with certain martial weapons. This implies that the entire race undergoes military training at some point in their lives. Seems kind of weird for a species of art loving chaotic fey folks, doesn’t it? Consider this though, if elf lifespans take place on such a drastic timescale, stretching for centuries if they’re healthy, what does their population look like? Maybe elves can very rarely have children, and then only after centuries of life. This would make them very protective of their communities, as an elf clan which suffers multiple losses in a battle wouldn’t recover their numbers for centuries! As such, every elf in the group learns how to protect themselves and others with these martial weapons. This is just one way to imagine justifying their elf weapon training, but something akin to military service doesn’t seem to fit their chaotic nature, so community protection just feels right. They can combine it with their love of art to create beautiful archery demonstrations and intricate sword dances. Imagine an elven martial display at a festival in your world! Another thing I see a lot which I understand but also kind of hate is when an elven city will be comprised of ONLY high elves or ONLY Wood elves. Classic Drow are the exception to this as their society is built on oppressing everyone who isn’t a Drow and also oppressing a lot of people who are Drow. Maybe that’ll change too with the upcoming rewrite of the species, it’ll be cool if it does. Consider a society of elves in which the different classifications existed, but it was more like something they grew into rather than were born as. Elves are fey folk who trance instead of sleeping, see in the dark, and whose god in some stories is the nonbinary deity of change and mutability. I don’t think suggesting that an elf child can go through a metamorphosis of sorts into the kind of elf they want to be during elf puberty is too far fetched an idea. Suddenly you have elves who chose to delve more into nature or more into magic. You get these different kinds of elves who have their special traits not because it was baked into them but because it was an archetype they worked to fill. There could be really cool coming of age ceremonies and celebrations for the kids when they begin to find out what variety of elf they want to be. Hell, the PHB makes a point to mention how elves will have one name as a child and then change it to a new name when they reach adulthood. Make that a whole THING! Make an adventure out of the elf in the party helping their community get ready for the big coming of age festival that only happens once a decade! UGH! Elves are so cool and there’s so much potential for adventure hooks in just making them have an interesting society. The traits given in the PHB when expanded to the entire species paints a picture of a group which values personal freedoms above all else, wants to spread some beauty in the world, and is able to defend itself if need be. They can be so much more than the bog standard Legolas rip off if you let them, and there are so many interesting angles to explore for a creature who lives centuries in that kind of society. All that angst over how long vampires exist can easily translate over to elves that live near a human settlement, just saying. TLDR: Elves should view rap battles as a legitimate form of government election and they will cut you if you threaten their communities.

My Eldar Headcanons
(BEFORE YOU READ THIS, KNOW I’M RELATIVELY NEW TO THE HOBBY AND HAVE ONLY RECENTLY BEGUN READING THE BOOKS AND CODEX. These are just some silly thoughts I had on the enigmatic but prideful race of space elves in 40k. All five factions!)
Aeldari as a whole:
There’s no LGBT organization since there never was a need for one. Due to the extended lifespans and being practically the oldest continuing race(besides necrons and orkz), they pretty much don’t care about sexuality. Gay, straight, bi, pan, ace, doesn’t matter to them one bit!
This also includes genders identification. They live for over a millennia, they have the time to not care about something that really isn’t bothersome.
Martial arts and duels are the most popular past time for any Aeldari. The sight of weapons clashing and fists flying has been a favored past time for them.
Philosophy and deep thinking is an natural quality they all share. You will not find a race better at poetic thought than the Aeldari.
The pride they still cling too is not unfounded. They are still the only ones to have wraithbone technology, they are the most psychically powerful species, have mastered the art of war beyond Millennia, and had the entire galaxy in the palms of their hands. They also still hold influence for a majority of the webway.
Ynnari are both a blessing and a curse to the eyes of the elves. One hand, they could lead them to a new era of salvation. Other hand, doom their species to complete and utter destruction. It’s a gamble, and this species is very adamant of taking any anymore.
Asuryani(Craftworld Eldar):
Not one Craftworld is the same as the other. Sure the core idea of Asuryani are the same, but years drifting in the void has added much more different traditions and practices. Biel-Tan, the most militaristic of the Craftworlds, probably have a heavy support to the military and has the most willing fighters in the Craftworld. Saim-hann meanwhile, probably prefer to race and show off their speed however way they can.
There are still festivities and celebrations on the Craftworlds, their just not as big as grand as say a Drukhari party. To avoid Slaanesh, excess in anything is restrained as possible, and you can enjoy yourself as long as you don’t have TOO much fun. They try to find the balance between the two, but end up constricting it’s people to tightly.
Those who follow the path of a warrior are treated similarly to celebrities. This has caused many who want fame and recognition to go down the paths. You can imagine how much they change after actually going through with it. These same new bloods are given another chance to leave. They don’t allow those simply seeking fame and admiration instead of duty.
When Asuryani want to have sex, they have a special circlet that dampens the psychic presence they have to Tau levels of existence. It takes time to get used to, so it’s more common for insemination to be used instead. Still, the child cannot be brought in until the spirit stone has been prepared.
Minor Craftworlds(Craftworlds half the size of average Craftworlds) are much more likely to be raided, attacked, or pillaged. Those same ones are found going through the Webway more, escorted by Corsairs, or cutting deals with the Imperium than the usual ones. Don’t be fooled! They are still powerful vessels that would require some serious firepower to take out!
Asuryani are the most adamant on joining Yvrainne and her crusade. They’re goal is to survive, and joining the Ynnari is something they just risk. Only the exodites are more refusing.
Drukhari(Dark Eldar):
You know Victorian England? That’s the Drukhari. Except add metal music too. They believe in being the most upstanding individual in the most blatantly corrupt society. By being the absolute worst individuals imaginable.
Bondage resembling the movie hellraiser in public? Sure! Holding hands and showing affections? SCANDALOUS!
They are the true remnants of the Aeldari empire. Despite your opinion, they are the ones with the most technology from their empire, they were a legitimate faction in the empire, and they still follow customs from the empire. Since they are the ones that remember the customs(their cult customs) had done.
A kabal, coven, and cult will support each other just as much as they are willing to try and kill each other. They can’t outright since each faction has something that is incredibly precious to the Drukhari. Coven: Biological and Scientific manipulation, Cults: Entertainment and scout knowledge(A wych cult were the first to discover the Tyranids for the Drukhari), and Kabals: Military and order.
Cults, Kabals, and Covens bring in slaves but never the same type. Wyches will take as many type of species as they can, Kabals LOVE to take high ranking individuals to play with, and Covens will find the strongest just to fuck with.
They still believe in their gods, but not as much as the others might. Khaine being popular with the wyches, but the others tend to do their own things instead of listening or wasting time on serving a dead god.
Nobles still exist, but their power and influence have diminished almost entirely. Very few even retain some aspects of their previous power.
Despite the daemonic incursions, infighting, chaos warbands, imperial might, and Tyranid invasions, the Drukhari are the most likely to outlast the other Eldars.
Corsairs(Pirate Eldar):
The most likely type of eldar to meet. As well as the most honest of their kin, since as long as you don’t cross them you’ll be fine. Human relationships are better... but only as much as you can expect from the xenophobic Imperium.
They have seen the most of the galaxy, and yet, they have barely found the entirety of the galaxy’s secrets.
They were the first Eldars to discover the Tyranids that enter the galaxy, but it was only in hushed whispers and rumors. Originally just some species of space whales or a new kind of daemon than what the galaxy will soon learn.
They are by fat, the best fliers and maneuvers in the galaxy. No other species can match their speed and agility as they fly across the stars. You need to get to somewhere quickly and safely? Get a corsair!
They are the bulk of Yvraine’s fleet and soldiers. After all, everything is coming to the end... why not go out swinging?
Adventurers, pirates, mercenaries, their whatever they need to be when it comes to the job. Mon’keigh, Tau, Asuryani, even Drukhari, if there’s adventure and excitement(and a bit of coin never hurt anyone), they’ll be sure to do it!
Exodites(Tribal Eldar):
The only level of tech their willing to go to is basic black powder. No steampunk or western style eldar, Your more likely to find Neolithic to Medieval Exodites with them.
Everything is done with the bare minimum and done quietly to avoid the humans from discovering them. They’ve adapted to their own worlds, such as traveling silently by trees in dense forests or moving under the sands in dune worlds.
They do keep an advanced transmitter so to get help from a Craftworld or a passing by Corsair fleet if the world is too far gone to be habitable or they’ve been incredibly compromised. Look to what Vulkan did to the last Exodites on a planet for a better understanding...
Hit and run tactics, guerrilla warfare, scouting, and guides through death worlds, Exodites are widely used by other Aeldari in search through forgotten ruins or lost cities all decayed to almost dust. They avoid them as they were what brought their fall, and will allow the others to repeat the same lesson that they clearly haven’t learned.
Some have dinosaurs, others have large birds of prey, kraken sized squids, and pretty much any other beast of burden to aid them. Dinosaurs are just more well known because every species can agree that dinos are cool.
Harlequin(Clown Eldar):
When you see one running, probably best to run with that one. They’re never too far from showing a performance or from danger either! Expect a surprise no matter what the outcome!
The only eldar that are given passage anywhere due to how strange yet entrancing they are. Their arrival means a play will begin! However, what play that will be, entertainment or for bloodshed, is only found out too late. Be weary around them!
They speak in rhymes and poetry. This also includes anecdotes, haiku, hand gestures, charades(really good at those), or with tarot cards. The meaning being shrouded by mystery that only few have managed to figure out BEFORE it was executed...
If you haven’t guessed yet, they’re the most mysterious of the eldars. WHICH IS SAYING SOMETHING WITH ALL THIS SHROUDED MYSTERY FOR THEIR ENTIRE RACE! Sorry, got my gripe at how much more lore there is for Space Marines than... well anyone else really. To the topic! It is said they also reside in the webways like the Drukhari, but in more remote regions that not even they know!
The most flexible species in the galaxy. While much can be thanked by the gravity belt around their waist, they can still bend and flex in ways that could break your mind! Great for distractions, no denial there!
Their also the best dancers, play performers, artists, story tellers, and the most colorfully dressed Eldars as well! They could do an entire play of the Horus Heresy to PERFECT detail, but choose not to since humans wouldn’t like the thought of their god being a massive dick. They also purposely screw up a part in a play so not to give Slaanesh power from their performance. Only their god, Cegorach, may have their energy.

General Discussions: All Elite Wrestling (AEW)
So with All Out happening tonight (or well, tomorrow morning for me) I’m in the mood to get a lot of AEW talk off my chest. The difference between this and previous talks ‘In (Slight) Defense of AEW’s Women’s Division’ and ‘Are AEW Planning a Second Show?’ - the latter of which seems to have been confirmed - I don’t want to talk about one sole thing, I have multiple things I wanna talk about: Criticisms, Hindsight, Signing Suggestions, Predictions and whatnot. I’m also gonna split this into two at least, we’re gonna start with some critiques (positive and negative criticism) and some hindsight talk.
Critiques So AEW has been running officially since May 2019. Meaning that half of their lifespan has happened during COVID 19′s pandemic, before I go into positive and negative criticisms I’d like this point to at least commend AEW on their action and sustainability during this time; several other brands have had to sadly close or cease programming for a long time, with ROH only just returning. AEW has done a stellar job being safe as well, only one confirmed case in QT Marshall (Moxley quarantining because of Renee’s positive case), frequent tests and having small amount of fans in the arena, this is on top of the fact that Jacksonville is also a hotspot, so currently well done on that. But AEW is far from a perfect company, no company can be. However, not all criticism is fair and I wanna vent some of that. Fair Criticism towards AEW First I wanna point out that there are things even I don’t like about AEW, because I know people will paint me as an apologist, I’d also wanna preface that there are parts of WWE I like too, and parts I don’t like. On AEW’s part though I think the fairest criticism for it is that a lot of talent slip through the cracks, COVID doesn’t help of course but talent had been kept away from the main show or not getting their due; Santana and Ortiz and the Lucha Bros should be tag champions by now, Scorpio Sky would’ve been a great TNT champion, Jurassic Express despite their popularity often seem to be on the losing end of feuds, Private Party have fell into the undercard of the tag division, Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss are sadly purposeless and Lance Archer is just floating around, Nyla and Vickie’s partnership hasn’t really gone anywhere either as of yet and Abadon has been kept from the title picture. There’s also the flip-flop booking of Shawn Spears, Jake Hager, Mel, Luther, Penelope Ford, TH2 and others. While I am gonna track back on the Women’s Division complaint it would bode better for AEW if they had more storylines, and their title was better. I mean the design is fine, it just needs to be bigger. The Picture with Shida and Cody swapping belts really sells that. Belt designs have been very up and down too, the TNT title is not good, the FTW title is a bit iffy but even that is a better design. So far only ‘Big Platinum’ and the Tag Titles are original designs without complaints. Unfair Criticism towards AEW Since a lot of people compare AEW to WWE, there will be times where people will treat them as the same, and that’s not really too fair. Case in point, big one out of the way, The Women’s Division. Wanting more from the women is fair but as I detailed they are pretty handicapped right now since many of their wrestlers are overseas, but when they make moves in a positive light they’re still criticised. Thunder Rosa (fka Kobra Moon of Lucha Underground) is great and we have a much hyped match for that. The criticisms reared its head more with the Deadly Draw and the Tooth and Nail match being in the Buy In. I’ve already discussed the benefits of the Deadly Draw in a prior post so I’m gonna focus on Swole/Baker. Now on the Main Card anyway thanks to fan response, it shouldn’t have been treated like AEW pre-shows are like WWE’s, there’s a Number 1 Contendership Battle Royale on that same Buy In, Khan has been clear that he wants people invested enough to ‘Buy in to the PPV’ so it shouldn’t be treated as a disservice.
I’d also like to segue this into a WWE comparison, because whenever AEW is on you have people tracking how many women’s segments there are. So let me run down WWE for a bit
Smackdown had 3 Women’s Bits last night (4th Sept): the Tag Match that led to FINALLY the Banks/Bayley schism, a cryptic hint towards a woman returning (rumors of Eva Marie I hope are false, maybe it’s Carmella?) and a small backstage segment between Bliss and Bayley
NXT on ‘Super Tuesday Part 1′ had 1 very short match building to the Candice/Tegan feud and a package for Ripley vs Mercedes
Raw had 2 matches and 3 segments which included a Payback rematch
Payback had 2 matches, one on the Pre-Show, both of these matches would later be rematched in the following week
Summerslam had 3 matches, only one of them not a title match and one of them being rematched on the following Raw
NXT TakeOver 30 had 1 match, a title match, including the Pre-Show
For all the criticism AEW gets for having 2-3 bits on Dynamite (which is an hour less than Raw might I add and Dark hosts consistently 3 women’s bits that nobody acknowledges simply because the matches are squashes) I never see WWE criticised in that same vein, and that’s unfair, criticise both. The main difference is that AEW do not have the ‘seasoned big star’ because they’re not that old, Mickie James, Asuka, Bliss and the Four Horsewomen didn’t just get this popular overnight, they spent years honing this craft to this audience. Would it be great for AEW to have a megastar type? Sure but business is not all that easy, who do you take? Tessa’s attitude isn’t exactly positive for business, time is what they need and it’s something people are not giving. Of the other unfair criticisms the quick and easy one is the ‘AEW is TNA 2.0′ - newsflash, most wrestlers will go through the WWE machine in some shape or form, if you complain that AEW lacks female stars because nobody is well known but criticise the men’s division for using well-known ex-WWE talent then you have to see the contradiction. Moxley has been great, Jericho has been great, Brodie has been great, it’s not like AEW aren’t promoting others either. And also the ‘VP is becoming like the McMahons’ - people think that because a wrestler is a booker that they’ll only book themselves strong, but Cody let himself get squashed by Brodie, Kenny passed out to PAC and lost to Moxley, the Bucks haven’t been tag champions and Brandi hasn’t inserted herself in any title match. Just because we’re burned by WWE doesn’t mean that AEW are the same. I am all for constructive criticism with the brand because there are certainly places where it can improve, but it keeps circling around to the fact that we put WWE as the negative standard we compare AEW to, as if WWE are literally the Simpsons of Wrestling, there’s not gonna be much they haven’t done. Hindsight Talk So with the critiques out of the way now we can talk about some missed opportunities, since it kinda pairs together with that. Nearly a year and a half and AEW is still quite different to how it started, there are some things though we could still look back in regret. The easy one is doing a more thorough background check. The SpeakingOut movement affected all of wrestling and led to the departure of Jimmy Havoc, likewise it also led to the Elite cutting ties with Joey Ryan and distancing from Marty Scurll, of course until people spoke out it would’ve been impossible to know but knowing now does make parts of All In and AEW’s history come with a sense of bitterness. A further stressing of variety would’ve helped AEW, there’s a lot of criticism when people don’t understand that things are different for a reason, comedy has a place in Wrestling, we just need a reminder. The ranking system and tag rules could still be clearer. There’s also the sooner dropping of aspects like the Nightmare Family faction with Mel and Luther with Brandi, as well as some other dropped plots like Brandi’s mental break, Allie’s affiliation with the Butcher and Blade (the latter being her irl husband) as ‘the Bunny’, Christopher Daniels’ feuds with Pentagon and the Dark Order, the initial presentation of the Dark Order, not debuting Sadie Gibbs earlier and maybe pushing Intergender wrestling a bit sooner. AEW were reluctant and a Kip/Penelope vs Kenny/Riho feud was in the works to some solid appeal, but it sadly went nowhere. The Deadly Draw could’ve been longer, but I stand by the decision to put it on Youtube. I think the TNT title tournament could’ve been longer too. The bigger regrets I personally wished from AEW are that the Lucha Bros didn’t win the tag titles first, SCU are great but Lucha Bros are next level wrestlers who are monstrously talented, given Hangman and Kenny’s blockbuster match with the Lucha Bros, it’s a shame that we didn’t have a bigger feud where the Lucha Bros took their Young Bucks feud momentum to win the whole tournament. Not signing Mercedes Martinez, Deonna Purrazo or pushing a Kong vs Kong match would also be a missed opportunity too. Hindsight is of course 2020 so we can’t be too hard on AEW, as we’ll move onto in Part 2, when we’ll talk about All Out Predictions and positive hopes for AEW’s future

‘Legacies’: Danielle Rose Russell on Miss Mystic Falls, the Finale, and All That Screaming
In the latest episode of The CW series Legacies, entitled “Let’s Just Finish the Dance,” the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, and all of the competition and stress that accompanies it, forced Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) to deal with all of the emotions that she’s been trying to compartmentalize for some time now. And with the fallout of her actions leaving her and Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) on the outs, Hope will turn to Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) to help her make things right.
During this 1-on-1 phone interview with Collider, actress Danielle Rose Russell (who has given a terrific and beautifully nuanced performance this season) talked about Hope’s participation in the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, what she thought about the meaning behind the special dress that Hope wore, the dynamic between Hope and Lizzie, why she only screams once per season, Hope and Landon’s relationship, her reaction to learning about what Landon actually is, why she loves the idea of Hosie (Hope and Josie), how she feels about the season finale, and what she’s most enjoyed about Hope’s journey this season.
Collider: Clearly, Hope has been having a rough time of things lately, with everything that she’s been going through. So, do all of those bad things help make the fact that she has to be in the Miss Mystic Falls pageant seem a little less awful, or does it just feel like the cherry on top of the awfulness cake?
DANIELLE ROSE RUSSELL: I think she thinks that it’s gonna help her, which is why she even agreed to do it and doesn’t put up much of a fight because, more than anything, she really needs to be distracted. But, it definitely is the cherry on top of the awfulness cake.
As much as she protests all of this, do you think Hope also is at least a tiny bit secretly happy that she decided to do this pageant?
RUSSELL: I think that there’s a part of her that allows herself to pay tribute to the Mikaelson way. The Mikaelsons were always throwing balls and parties and extravagant get-togethers, or whatever you want to call them, so there’s a part of her that allows herself to be into that a little bit. Of course, she is very much a girl, and I think that she does like to get into a dress and put her make-up on and do her hair. But honestly, she probably mostly wants nothing to do with this. It’s just that, with all of the things that have happened recently, she’s almost forced to do it. She has no other choice.
In order to win this pageant, she finds herself taking advice from Lizzie (Jenny Boyd), which just doesn’t seem like it can go well. What did you enjoy about getting to explore what the two of them can accomplish together, when they’re not annoying each other?
RUSSELL: You see how they do help each other. It’s definitely an interesting dynamic that has mostly occurred off screen. When Legacies picked up, we never really saw the history between both of the twins. There are definitely more developments that need to happen, with both of the twins, though Hope’s relationship with Lizzie does become significant and they do help each other out, in the face of danger. I always think it’s really nice to see characters band together and fight for what they all believe in.
It’s certainly cathartic, any time you have a lot of stress and things going on, to just go into a wide open space and scream. What was it like to shoot that, and how many times did you have to scream?
RUSSELL: Well, I did a lot of screaming in The Originals, and I hurt my voice so badly that I said, “I can’t scream, if you want me to be able to work, for like the next three days.” So, what I usually do is that I scream once in the season, and we’ll just use that scream, all throughout, or extend it, or do whatever we need to do. And then, I open my mouth and pretend like I’m screaming, the whole time. So, it’s a little secret, but in order to save my voice and work, I couldn’t actually scream.
I love that the dress Hope wears for Miss Mystic Falls turns out to have more meaning than even she realizes. What was your own personal reaction to learning about the dress that you’d be wearing and what the meaning was behind it?
RUSSELL: I was definitely surprised. I did a lot of thinking about it because, to me, it didn’t really seem like something that would cause the reaction that it did. I realized that it wasn’t just the dress. It was so many more things that had happened to Hope, between Landon and all of these different things that had happened that really forced her to just cry. The dress is just a literal reminder of the fact that she doesn’t have her dad, who is the person that she probably would have gone to about something like this. She doesn’t really have anyone, so it’s like seeing a little girl just needing her dad. The dress just happened to be playing that role. But it was definitely a process to try to get the dress to work because, obviously, it was made for someone seven inches taller than I am. I’m actually very short, so it was definitely a struggle. Our fashion department spent countless hours trying to make it work, and it did.
When you’re doing a Miss Mystic Falls episode, because it has played such a role in the lifespan of this universe, do you feel an extra sense of responsibility, in doing your version of that?
RUSSELL: Yeah. On the day of shooting it, I was like, “Oh, I’m Miss Mystic Falls.” I watched that episode of The Vampire Diaries when I was 11 years old, so on that day of shooting, I was like, “I’m Miss Mystic Falls. This is a little weird.” How life comes full circle, sometimes. Our director, Geoff Shotz, has done three other Miss Mystic Falls episodes, so I was jaded about the dress and he was jaded over doing the episode. He was like, “I can’t, with Miss Mystic Falls. This just never dies.” It was very funny, and we had a lot of fun.
What do you think about the relationship between Hope and Landon, at this point? Are you optimistic for their future, or are you just sort of always waiting for the other shoe to drop, especially on this show?
RUSSELL: I’m definitely always waiting for the other shoe to drop, but I think it’s the relationship that makes the most sense for Hope. Their journey together is gonna be one of ups and downs, but I have a lot of hope and faith in their love, and I know that they care for each other. We’ll see what happens with that. It definitely will play a huge part in how the season ends, but for now, just stay tuned.
What was your own reaction to finally learning what Landon actually is?
RUSSELL: I read that script in the hair and make-up trailer, literally seconds after production delivered it to everyone. I skimmed through it and got to the very end, and I literally started to scream. I was like, “Oh, my gosh, you guys aren’t gonna believe what Landon is!” I got everyone so excited about it, and I called Aria because he wasn’t on set. He had gone home because he wasn’t in the episode before that one, and I was like, “You have to call me back, as soon as you can. You’re not gonna believe what you are. It’s so cool!” I’ve been holding in this secret for so long. I’d do interviews and be like, “We’re gonna explore what Landon is, and we’ve never explored it before, in this way.” Now that it’s finally out, I can take a deep breath because everyone is experiencing what I’ve been experiencing for months.
It’s so cool that a universe like this, that’s been around for so many seasons and three different shows, can still find so many new aspects to explore. There’s been so much new stuff, this season, that I never expected, that’s made the show so cool to watch.
RUSSELL: Yes, I think so, too. What was important for Legacies to actually be a successful show is that we had to introduce new mythology. We definitely have, and it still lives in the same world, but these mythological creatures and beings and magic have also existed for millenniums, and they’re now revealing themselves in Legacies. It’s been a lot of fun to explore new mythology.
Are you surprised at how much “Hosie” has become a thing, and how much people are loving the idea of Hope and Josie?
RUSSELL: Yes! We’re very surprised. We talk about it, all the time. It’s funny because Kaylee [Bryant] and I call each other our wives. It’s why we started the whole Hosie thing, and it really caught on with people. We wanted to see that relationship happen when it was right, so in the alternate universe, you saw Hope and Josie get very flirty, I guess you could say. That definitely felt like the right time for that. If it doesn’t make sense, then obviously we would never want anything that doesn’t make sense to be in the show. But I think it definitely fit into the story, as well as it could.
Without giving anything away, what was your reaction, the first time that you read the season finale script? How did you feel about where Hope will be left, at the end of this season?
RUSSELL: I had heard rumors about how our season was gonna end, since the middle the season. We all talked about it and said, “Oh, my god, if the season ends that way, that would be so cool. It makes total sense.” Like everything, so much information had already been revealed, at that point, so it was something that made the most sense, for Hope and this entire world. So, when I finally got the script, I was very, very happy to see that that’s what happens, and I can’t wait for the audience to see it, too. I think it’s gonna really, really shock people.
Over the course of this season, Hope has gone from being totally closed off, emotionally, and pushing everyone away, to having friends, having a boyfriend, and opening herself up enough to actually care for people and to let people care about her. How do you feel about her evolution, this season? What has been your favorite thing about telling her story?
RUSSELL: I’ve really loved her evolution this season. I think that the only way for the character to develop properly, and to do justice to her and her process for what she’s gone through, was for her to love, and to develop relationships and friendships, so I’m happy that she’s beginning to do so. In the beginning of the season, she goes on a journey from being vengeful, and having vengeful reactions to people that have hurt her, to forgiving and to seeing her be loved, and that’s really been beautiful. I hope I can continue to do that. I have a lot of hopes for her, for Season 2, and I’m really excited to see what everyone thinks about how the season ends.

Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom) [ESTJ]- One Piece

Big Mom works towards what she considers a peaceful, harmonious utopia that promotes equality of races which may initially seem Fe-ish. But the methods she utilises are all Te. Big Mom establishes and enforces the rules of Totto Land, making citizens donate one month of their lifespan every six months as a fee for Big Mom's protection. She thinks she knows best and forces her standards upon people, steamrolling over them if they do not comply ("If you obey me, everyone will live in happiness, if you disobey, it means you are selfish bad person, so I must kill you!"). She displayed this even as a kid, taking it upon herself to punish the bear for fighting with the wolf and fix the appearance of her fellow orphans by tearing off their racial features. She approaches situations with a business like approach, believing that a pirate should accept no compromises or delays in getting what they want. It is through this approach that she establishes protection for islands in return for candy, enacting harsh punishments if the terms are not met. If any of her allies were to leave her no matter what the reason, Big Mom forces them to give up something precious to them as a form of compensation. Big Mom generally does not tolerate failure and does not hesitate to punish those who do not reach her standard (demoting Snack). She hatches an elaborate yet efficient plan to get rid of her opposition- luring the Vinsmokes into a political alliance, then killing them and taking their military weapons. She sees her husbands as tools for procreation and once their use is served, she proceeds to discard them-ignoring their feelings and not even letting them see the children. SBS Volume 90 reveals she even abducted her 43 husbands to be used for this purpose. She also views her children as tools for her personal gain and generally does not take their feelings into account. She mainly values Pudding for her acting skills and acknowledging the importance of her third eye to read the Poneglypths yet personally found it disgusting and most likely would have treated her worse if it wasn't for its usage. This made me consider inferior Ti being unable to view the inconsistencies within their logic but that could just be how controlling her Te is. She views Lola as a failure for running out of her marriage to Loki to establish more military might for Big Mom. Big Mom does not put any work to raising morals or values to her children aside from promoting loyalty to herself. One of the aspects that lead to her downfall is her neglect for the emotions of her daughters, not considering that her abusive treatment towards Chiffon would lead her to feelings of resentment and allow her to support Bege in betraying her. Big Mom prefers to keep her personal feelings private to herself, refusing to open up about Mother Camel nor her experiences with the Giants. She is prone to childish fits whenever her emotions stir up (inferior Fi).
Whilst she does have a grand vision for the future, it centres around recreating the past of Mother Camel's dream of having the races united, latching on to her memory for over 60 years (Si). She recreates her tea parties in a manner reminiscent of the joy of enjoying semla with her friends when younger and continues to hold them to relieve those positive memories. This extends to her wanting to sit happily with all the races by using Caesar Clown's gigantification research so that they can dine with her at eye level. Additionally she seems to recognise people by lineage, recognising Luffy based upon who he descended from and viewing Sanji as the 'Son of Vinsmoke', hinting at a Si connection towards emphasising the importance of one’s family roots (their past). She recounts the humiliation of Roger taking a copy of her Ponegylph and plans very meticulously to avoid such an event from happening again. Her Ne shows itself in the sheer wackiness and fantasical nature of Totto Land as well as her excitement over collecting different creatures. She becomes excited over the possibility of what could be inside the Tametabako Box. With lower Ne she tends to accept events at face value and do not question her perceptions that much, not being able to intuit that she was the one who ate Mother Camel, that Caesar was using the money given to him for ulterior purposes nor did much speculating on the suspicious events of who destroyed the buildings in Sweet City.

Big Mom refuses to let others take control of her. She is confrontational over everything, even with things that don’t necessary threaten her security directly. She eagerly accepts a challenge, choosing to spare Fishman Island and redirect her attention towards Luffy. She dislikes it when anyone else is in charge-demanding Katakuri to explain himself when he interferes. She is quick to react in aggression in attempt to regain control of the situation.
Her 6 fix is counter-phobic, becoming overly controlling of her crew members and fostering her family so that their loyalty lies in her and her only. This is done to feel a sense of complete security- having had past experiences of abandonment. Similarly such measures are also applied whenever people leave her crew, her attempts to make them stay involve setting up a roulette game in which there are consequences-almost as if such a threat would discourage them from leaving.
Finally her 2-fix makes her believe that she genuinely is doing a good thing and that her actions are helping other people. One Piece chapter 846 revealed that she wanted to replay the villagers in Wano by sharing Oshiruko with them and got angry at Luffy for eating it all up, demanding why he did so. Whilst Big Mom did get amnesia, this component is still intrinsically part of her personality. It just manifested itself in a unhealthy manner. She expects love from her family simply because she raised them, wanting them to be grateful to her for their existence. She considers herself a ‘kind queen’ of her country, accusing those who disobey her demands as being ‘selfish’, being especially angry whenever people do not show up to her Tea Parties.
Note: Initially I had her heart fix as a 3 given her immense pride in her own self-image as a Yonko. However I could not simply ignore those 2-ish moments she had. I may change my mind in the future but this is what I’m going with for now.
