"Hours before The Exalted One debuted, the CHIKARA boys decided to send a picture to our friend Claudio. The caption was something like “WE GOT HIM!” This picture and memories of reconnecting with him this year will forever make me smile." - Bryce Remsburg (2020)

I love how aew will never, ever let us forget Brodie Lee. If you turned up after his time, don't worry, you'll know him, too, because aew will keep his name alive for as long as it's around.

This was in 2016.
Becky told Lilian Garcia that she was close to quitting WWE in 2017 because of disrespect like this. She didn’t feel valued and felt like she was wasting her time.
Luke Harper (Brodie Lee) talked her down and convinced her to stay.
"Becky was handed everything, Becky is always pushed, Becky was always the golden goose"

OH MY GOD
I’M GONNA LOSE IT
i saw the rocking chair with the lantern and started bawling😭
The full entrance with Shatter actually getting to play😭
Uncle Howdy, you and the Wyatt Sick6 are my forever favorite group now(well tied with the original Wyatt Family).
Joe Gacy, the hanging upside down for a second, I love you.
the Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah😭
All these tributes😭 this is absolutely the match of the year(until Bo/Uncle Howdy himself wrestles).
Taylor Rotunda, my whole heart is with you tonight. I cannot even begin to imagine what is going through your head tonight. This is beautiful. Seeing you get to continue what you and Windham were working on has made me believe in WWE again. I’ve loved your work for 10 years now and I am forever a BOLIEVER🫶

Cody Rhodes is wrestling's best 'Final Girl'
Tumblr media
Yes. Yes he is tho. And here's why.
The idea of 'the final girl' is a popular horror trope. If you don't know it Google it but essentially, the last survivor and character that kills the monster in horror movies is often a young woman. Because they are perceived as vulnerable in media. Sometimes it's demeaning, sometimes it's empowering, sometimes it's Cody Rhodes.
Since early AEW Cody Rhodes, has been it's hero. Since early Dynamite, the Dark Order had been foretelling the arrival of the mysterious 'Exalted One'. And when the Exalted One arrived he rampaged through the company. He attacked the strong, he preyed on the weak, he opposed the good and took what he wanted. Our Final Girl Cody had a brush with the monster and was barely able to live to tell the tale. In quite possibly the greatest squash match of all time. Brodie came in as an immovable object and an unstoppable force at the same time. Cody did not have an answer for the Exalted One.
The Dog Collar match is the end of a horror movie. It's the final scene it's the scene where the Final Girl faces her fears and kills the monster. Now the first time the Final Girl encounters the monster they escape or they are spared or they run away. But the second time they realise that they can't win by running away. They have to fight the threat head on. And that's why it's a Dog Collar match. The fear of a Hell in a Cell match or a cage match is that your locked in. But the fear of a Dog Collar match is that it is tied to you and you cannot get away from it. There's a difference. In the ending of a horror movie it's just the Final Girl and the monster. It's scrappy and bloody, but only by facing it head on can the Final Girl win.
And finally, Cody wins. Like the Final Girls in horror movies. He is just barely able to beat his monster. And honestly part of me was annoyed that he won. Because I love Brodie and he was taken too soon. But it makes sense. He's a horror monster. He's a monster heel and those wrestlers exist to put over faces really. Now Cody subverts some tropes. Firstly by dying his blonde hair black. Also partly by just being a man. And also while final girls come to the last encounter mentally tougher and mentally stronger. Cody comes back mentally stronger but also literally physically stronger having packed on a good amount of extra muscle.
Also I want to acknowledge how good Cody is here. We both sells Brodie's offence in a way that makes you question if he can ever win. But in his comebacks he (with Brodie's help) makes makes his own offence look strong and believable. So he both makes the monster look unbeatable and believably wins the fight.
But there we have it. That is why Cody Rhodes in this match is an example of a Final Girl. This match is probably my favourite in Dynamite history. And it's bones are a horror movie.
Happy Halloween!

One of the many things that saddened me with Windham's passing was the realization that his story would never be finished that his story would be another unfortunately unfinished wrestling story
I am glad to know that I was wrong
I am glad to know that Windham's story continues through Taylor
I am glad to know that Windham's legacy continues through Taylor
And I am glad to know that Windham continues through Taylor he continues through all of us
With the recent events with The Wyatt 6 you can feel Windham's presence you can feel him there
While he may not be there physically he's there in spirit
Windham lives on through Taylor, through all of us
Windham is only gone physically
He was there throughout the teasers he was there last Monday and he was there yesterday
Windham Rotunda lives on through his family, through his friends and his fans
So long as you keep Windham's memory in your heart he isn't truly gone
He lives on through all of us
Never forget that
