This series of work is about memory and the passage of time. Candles are lit for birthdays and funerals, for joy and sorrow. The glowing candles parallel how people glow bright, burn out, and how even in their absence will leave something behind.

The final project for one of my classes during my first semester at university!

My initial inspiration was this funky bunch of candles in a shop window I passed by near campus. I wonder how many candles have been burned there to make that much spilling wax... It's really a sculpture in and of itself.

Second inspiration was when I had the radio on in the car and it got real staticky when I went into an underground parking lot. Thought it sounded interesting, so for mourning celebration I fiddled around with the radio on my digital clock and recorded the audio, letting it slide from station to station with startling static.

And for filming the video itself, I stuck a bunch of candles onto a piece of wood, got up Very early in the morning, and filmed the whole thing with my phone. this. took. HOURS. and I stayed the whole time I was not about to go back to sleep and wake up to a burning house or smth LMAO so I babysat that damn thing LITERALLY until the sun came up. you can see at the end how bright it was getting and that last candle STILL had not burned out. I didn't want it to get any brighter n it was already still brighter than I would've liked, so I decided to just blow it out to have an ending I liked anyways lol. ideally it would've gone out on its own in the dawn, buttt you make do with what happens in the process lol, and blowing it out made really nice smoke wisps.

around 1 min into the video is when I think the colours get really really beautiful...

+Here's process photos of when I was experimenting with how the candles would work! Oh yeah I think everything burns was initially supposed to be standing propped up with a candle underneath it?? But it got unstuck and I mostly just used it so it was elevated nicely for filming the video portion lol

(Also I initially thought maybe I'd just melt the wax and pour it onto the wood but I was like. no this is not vibing and maybe just letting them burn straight on the wood would be good lol but here's me pitifully melting some wax lmao)

Just acquired these awesome pieces of movie history from Christopher Nolan's 2008 masterpiece, The Dark Knight! These bills were used in the production of the film and were a part of the Joker’s massive mountain of mob money.  While the generic “Beaumont” bills were burnt to a crisp (though this one made it out unscathed), other $100 notes were printed specifically for the movie, and can be seen facing the camera in the money pile scene. 💵

Hi Owl! Sure!

My original story is called Everything Burns and is a modern urban fantasy taking place in an unspecified coastal American city (It may get named when I decide for sure which it is). The universe premise is that everyone knows psychics exist, but they're still treated with a lot of trepidation/misunderstandings since no one knows why some people have psychic gifts and why others do not. Some psychic gifts are also devastating and there's a lot of persecution for those with more dangerous abilities.

The plot revolves around the main character, who works with a group of private detective psychics of varying abilities, working with investigators to solve a series of strange and clearly not natural murders.

The main characters are:

Levi Delacroix -

26 y/o

He/him, they/them

Red hair

Blue-green eyes

Way too short (we wear platform shoes to compensate)

Touch-based clairvoyance (past and future)

Pyrokinetic

Many cat jokes. Very much like a house cat in demeanor
