So I'm replaying Ray's After ending rn, and it got me thinking that what I adore so much about Rika as an antagonist is just how damn scary she can be. I always found those who cause harm with good intentions (at least in their point of view) much scarier than those who hurt you with pure intention on hurting you. I think the best example of it is this CG in particular:

Look at that. Such a loving, gentle expression on her face. Probably kissing his forehead. Because she loves him. Heck, without any context, this CG looks even sweet, if you think about it. And yet, all that is while Saeyoung is forcefully sedated on a powerful concoction of drugs even a trained agent like him can't do anything about (and Saeyoung WAS definitely trained to deal with this sort of thing, hence it's mentioned that this is a 'special' kind of drugs). He looks miserable. Bags under his eyes, his expression pained and troubled, even his hair is paler than usual. All that as a direct result of her actions. But she's utterly blind to it. What's scarier, is that she knowingly shuts off her understanding of what's really happening. She's not oblivious to it at all. She just chooses not to see it that way. Simply because she doesn't want to.

Rika is the type of antagonist that will cup your cheek into her warm hand with the most loving of smiles on her face, all while you are getting elixir poured down your throat. Even whispering to you that you're doing great, that the pain will soon pass, and that she can't wait to see you reach the happiness she knows you deserve. I won't be surprised if she even cried genuine tears of compassion during some ceremonies for her believers. All while being the sole reason behind their suffering.

And that's... God, that's terrifying to me. I love that about her.

Ok call me crayzy but Imo Wilson knew perfectly well as soon as House said “I’m dead, Wilson” that House is gonna kill himself after he croaks. Like if we’re looking at this moment in the lens of Wilson’s last selfish action/House’s last selfless action…. Obv the thought would upset Wilson. But I don’t think he would make a big fuss or try to convince House out of it. He said it himself House has nothing anymore. Except Wilson! He’s (and pain’s) been the only true constant in House’s life so to try and get him to stay without that one is cruel. Plus as long as he’s alive he’s still gonna Enable and now w the selfish-selfless last resort in action? In a sense he’s probably glad he’ll be House’s longest lasting relationship just like he was Wilson’s.

Wilson’s most true selfish act will be getting to be the real last one to say goodbye to House.

i actually love thinking about preS4 vinerva and how their relationship deteriorates throughout the season and how it relates to the clemvi romance and just violets character in general but unfortunately some people cant be normal about them so instead i just gotta keep it to myself

thought too hard about the whole entire life that B Warrick and the Returning Visitor had together before the start of book 1 and got overly emotional

I really love that the way B and MC meet is left open ended. Maybe they met when MC first left Fernweh, when MC was a confused and grieving teenager. Or maybe at new student orientation in college. Or at work. Or an event. Whatever you imagine for your character, they meet and develop a deep enough friendship that when MC has to go back to their weird and insular hometown after the death of their only remaining relative, B is the person they bring along.

it's just a nice reminder that 1) you haven't yet met all of the people who are going to love you 2) you can meet the people who become most important to you anywhere you are

If your life circumstances have always required from you an abnormal amount of strength and resilience, I see you. If your inner child lets out a small sob anytime someone compliments you on that strength, I see you. If that strength translates to you being some form of domineering/abrasive because you learned early on that your lot in life was to take care of yourself because nobody else ever did, I see you. If you are so fucking angry all the time and can't pinpoint why, I see you. If you've had to watch as people you care about continue to abandon you in adulthood because you grew up to be type A, controlling and assertive, I see the fuck out of you. It's not your fault that nobody ever gave you a soft place to land so that you could be your true self. And I won't inundate you with condescending platitudes about how you'll find your person/people one day.

Some of us are lucky, but to depend on external sources for your well being is a crap shoot. I won't tell you to keep looking for your home in other people. Home is where you are. Take that strength you've painstakingly cultivated since you were a child, and quadruple it. Become bulletproof, unbreakable. Don't let anyone else find a fault line in you to exploit ever again.

fun stuff im sure !! but haah okay given julius was a kid when he was a commoner - yeah theyre both kids here!! not sure how old but definitely somewhere before the age of ten. and i think theyd be up to some shenanigans together im sure!! theyre both very mischevious kids (or from what little we know of little kid julius, given iirc tappei hasnt specified just How Much of a "delinquent" little kid julius is okay. but hes definitely the type to sneak out past curfew or something. stay up late reading too, probably. that sort of thing). and also subarus a kid and no way he ISNT missing home poor guy T^TT getting ripped away from home like that is bad enough at seventeen, getting ripped away from home when you are like. no more than eight or something is Bad. but luckily!! im assuming subaru gets found by the juukuliuses (julius's parents probably?) and thats how julius and subaru form their friendship / long-term yearning for each other (if you so desire that) (okay but no way subaru ISNT gonna form long-term yearning for julius flajsdlf). but yes i think julius and subaru would be silly happy kids together and julius's parents would be like oh no this other kid is so lost where is he from :(( but hes so loved by julius already too... well we got another kid under our roof now.

I'm v curious abt Talon's mesoamerican origins and evolution in general how does his accent sound when written out? after such a long life what is the strongest vestige of those times he has (aside from physical features and so on). I can't believe some rando bloodsucker colonized my boy

I have no idea what his accent wld sound like as the few videos i cld find of people speaking his original language, are, of course, mainly spanish speakers! And I can sometimes hear the difference in spanish as they switch between the 2 while being interviewed but i struggle to mentally transplant that as to how it'd sound in English ykwim 😭 there's also the fact that its the modern language spoken by them so it has evolved alongside and borrows from spanish anyway, by those who still speak it and speak both Today

Im actually still zeroing in on fleshing out more of that lore, since I can't find too much info on the specific culture i envision for him, it may really just have to be "fantasy culture INSPIRED by the people" instead, so i dont completely botch actual historical info 😮‍💨 either that or go very vague off of the info available

so i found this in my drafts just now and i think the only reason i didn’t finish it was cuz i was so overwhelmed with emotion but honestly the only reason i didn’t cry was cuz i got interrupted a few times which allowed me some time to emotionally recover during the “i built the warp core” scene

i’ve since played thru it two more times (with the added context of mark’s previous works) and wow it gets more painful each time cuz with each different decision you experience even more with your loyal head engineer making your heartbreak increase ten-fold every time he realizes he was the one who fucked up the universe

mark’s acting is insane throughout the whole adventure but that scene in particular just takes a level of skill you almost never see nowadays and that’s what makes it so gut-wrenching
