gender dysphoria is not the same as anorexia or bulimia. liposuction doesn't work for eating disorders since they will always want to be skinnier. or something idk why i should have to know about every single mental disorder that gets compared to gender dysphoria by biased, uneducated fools. has a liposuction ever cured a eating disorder or at least reduced the symptoms? no. but medical transitioning works for most gender dysphoric people to reduce or even eliminate their dysphoria. also, trans people usually have to go to therapy for several months to a year at least before they can even medically transition. a good therapist would help them deal with their body issues and anything else to get rid of their dysphoria before continuing with medical treatment. yes, trans people and gender dysphoria are understudied due to bias against them and mental health in general. but that doesn't mean that hormones and surgeries that have been done for many decades are too dangerous for anyone to get them.
maybe if gender dysphoria was actually studied more and from an unbiased lens, we could know why it is often different from other "body dysphorias" (did you mean dysmorphia?). maybe it is because those with eating disorders want to become unhealthily underweight, whereas gender dysphoric ppl want to go from one healthy state to another. or maybe it is because those with eating disorders and body dysmorphia have a skewed perspective of their body (those with anorexia think they are way fatter than they are and those with body dysmorphia either perceive a bodily "flaw" that they don't have or they see it in an exaggerated way), whereas those with gender dysphoria see it as it is. a trans woman is not being delusional when she sees she has a masculine jaw.
are gender identities just a fantasy, or something stemming from gender dysphoria (or you saying you should hurt a mentally ill person a purpose? nah of course not). AGAIN, gender dysphoria is NOT DELUSIONS (yet you act like you are smarter than me somehow...). Also, when did I say I supported people "forcing their gender identities" on anyone? Let me lay it out for your annoying ass. I think it is reasonable to refer to trans ppl as the pronouns of whatever the fuck they pass as. I also think it is reasonable for trans ppl to not come out to too many ppl b4 they pass as the opposite sex (obviously they have ti come out to doctors and psychiatrists tho). I also think that having to call a non-passing, non-dysphoric trans woman she is ridiculous. what happened to trans women boymoding until they can pass and go stealth? vice versa for trans men. nonbinary ppl can be a bit more complicated, but it shouldn't be difficult for others to refer them as they and avoid using sexed terms for them when around them.
I know what I'm talking about, I've been in lgbt spaces online for several years, I've been a tucute, a truscum, a gender critical, a terf, and a tirf.
why should i accept trans people "as they are" if they couldn't accept themselves as they were born? and don't tell me that "they accept themselves, they were just born in the wrong body and the wrong gender», sperm is not a dumb idiot like you, open a biology textbook and find out why the hell you were born the way you were born

Re: The ask about social issues. I saw some folks talking about men being able to be lesbians and I guess I just never thought about it much before? I've never really given it much consideration so I'm kinda just mostly confused. I don't really trust the people who were talking about it tho bc they believe in transandrophobia so I kinda wanted to hear more about it from someone else and I've always thought your stuff on topics like this seemed really well informed and thought out so I figured I'd ask you :o If it's not something you know much about tho or perhaps just don't want to get into it I totally understand! ^_^
So like, this is going to potentially be long winded so stay with me + I'm probably gonna piss some people off so
1) cishet men have done weird "we're lesbians too" kind of stuff for ages. It's like, such a dead joke. It was even a thing Drake said in a popular song
The point being, the status quo is to violate boundaries of sapphic women and force men onto them. Thus "men can be lesbians" is lesbophobic.
However.
2) The lesbian community has a long and storied history that involves the fuckery of gender. Before the word "transgender" became such a household term, lesbians were basically identifying as stuff that might look like nonbinary genders today. It turns out when you're gay and reject the status quo of misogyny and surround yourself with others like that, you tend to create a new view of what gender is. There's a grocery list of examples of this but the point is, there is precedent to this. Which comes to
3) I think transmascs that find themselves in the lesbian community and choose to keep identifying as such is fine. Like, it's not my place to dictate people's genders, identities, or sexualities. My problems rise from A) the theft of transfem terms. "Transbian" is a very specific thing, it's a trans woman lesbian, when transmascs steal the term it muddies the term and takes part in pushing transfems out. Also B) when cis lesbians are accepting of transmasc aligned lesbians they usually reject transfem lesbians because they view us as men, which means they view said transmascs as women - essentially transfems getting rejected from groups that actually are accepting of transmascs. As much as some people want you to think this doesn't happen, it does, a lot. And a lot of transmascs actually add on to it "well you have a penis why would lesbian want you around??"
4) transandrodorks are probably saying "men can be lesbians" because of sex/gender essentialist view. They are definitely referring to transmascs and there's a conversation to be had on "why are you saying these non woman identities are women," but I don't want to spend the time dissecting that cuz it's pointless. But, also, the "transandrophobia is real" crowd has time and time and time again shown they see trans women as men. So this really brings up, what is a man to them? When they're a man, it's uplifting, it's lesbian, it's positivity, it's the queerest thing ever. But when they find a t4t transbian they're mad at, said transbian is "socialized male," hysterical, violent, a predator.
5) the short here is it depends who says it and what's the context. "Men can be lesbians" from a cishet dude is lesbophobic. "Men can be lesbians" from a random transmasc is probably fine. "Men can be lesbians" from a transandrodork is likely some kind of distilled transmisogyny, an outcome from getting mad at a trans lesbian. But, there could be nuance. *Shrug* I don't know, it's not my place to really care what people call themselves
6) I think "men can be lesbians" is a very frustrating argument. I think "transmascs can be lesbians" makes sense and is fine. But the former is wording that relies on the sexist and homophobic oppression lesbians have suffered since forever. I think this issue is largely in language, but also transandrodorks and inherently transmisogynistic, so. Yeah.
My opinion is I don't have a real opinion. I don't care.

I hate the stretch lines in the front of Curly's uniform because that means the devs rushed to make a model in like a month or so and thought "They gotta at least know he has huge knockers, gotta know he's got back pain." Cause like what is the thematic importance of his tits having overhang?
What responsibility is that representing? Breast reduction? It shows an inherent greed in his character due to the excess and heshouldletmeholdone and that he clearly is blinded cause if he tries to look down his damn ladder all he's seeing is his own cleavage.

Like OK so I've been reading a fic with trans wolfwood in it that is so. HONEST. About how it affected him and still affects him. In a way that's very much not an average cis writer portrayal of a trans character.
Like. Either this writer is trans or did plenty of research, but it just feels REAL to me. And it has me thinking about my own way of writing trans Wolfwood.
I'm not there yet. But I've been thinking about it. The ways that what the EOM did fucked him up... but it also acted as HRT that affirmed his gender. So what do you do when you're in a body you don't recognize, but looks much more like a man than ever before? There's some gender euphoria in a way, but dysphoria at the same time bc you didn't grow into this. You didn't watch yourself transition. Suddenly you just Were this, and it's not you, but also it's nice to finally be seen as a man, but it also feels wrong to feel grateful for any part of what they did to you...

You see? This is what I want to think about with him. This is why trans Wolfwood is so compelling to me. It's just so Complicated, he'd have such Complicated feelings about his body and the way he lives with it. He learns this new body, it starts to feel more like his, but he also mourns the fact that he didn't get to watch it grow into this like he should've.
That kind of thing.
