i hope it's okay to add my thoughts as well, as this is something i think about a lot as a System(multiple people in one body, which the majority of people see as inherently a delusion) and a Kinnie (essentially "i was this character in a past life". again, most people consider that delusional).

it does not matter how stupid or obviously fake the delusion sounds to you, and it is not your responsibility to bring someone back to reality. in many cases, that can actually be worse for them, not better. what matters is, are they Functioning? do they need help from you in this moment to function? if they are distressed, how do you alleviate the distress? you do have to pick your battles carefully when it comes to delusions. it's relatively easy to show somebody, based on evidence, that they are not turning into a werewolf. it can be much harder to convince them they aren't poisoned, especially if there is no food left to test and no rational reason why they would be. but you know what you CAN do? put a bunch of black food dye in a drink, give it to them and tell them it's activated charcoal and that'll disrupt anything they've ingested. hell, if they're not currently on any oral medication, you can give them the real thing. yes, it's treating the delusion as Real, but it's also performing a harmless action to make them feel safe again. "monster spray" type shit. one that people in other mental health circles may be familiar with is the delusion that you are an evil, horrible person who just poisons everything around you and is better off dead. this one is often hard for people to deal with, because it can come from a number of different places, each with their own approach needed. of course for a normal highschooler you can usually just ask them if they've done [terrible thing someone real did] and when they say no you can declare that CLEARLY they can't be the worst person in the world, then. sometimes it comes from intrusive thoughts that a lot of people are uncomfortable talking about; convincing someone they're not terrible just because they fantasize about fucked up shit is largely an excercise in teaching them that actions are what actually matters, which many people inherently disagree with due to their upbringing. but i honestly think the hardest one has to be people who've ACTUALLY done something wrong - or, at the very least, people who are convinced they did in a past life or another dimension. because with them, you have to focus on moving forward as a better person and living with the guilt, and that one can either be a lot to ask, or it can be extremely frustrating because you don't personally believe this guy was actually dracula, so why is he so worked up about killing people who were not real? sorry, big wall of text; my point is, there are some delusions where if you want to address them and help, you need to be prepared to be uncomfortable and possibly even grapple with some genuinely hard questions. or, you can try and find a way to distract them from their thoughts. it won't always be possible to reality check someone, and you need to be okay with that if you're going to be close with a delusional person.

and i've said this before, but i'll say it again: who cares if the lady at ihop thinks she's cleopatra stuck in the present. what does it matter? let cleopatra work at ihop, it's not your business. if it's not hurting you, and she's managing the stress of time travel just fine, leave it be.

also, i feel like this should go without saying, but one of the worst ways to make someone's distress even worse is to accuse them of faking their mental health issue. seriously, the amount of times i have seen somebody have an anxiety freakout like OP describes and be told "you just want attention, you know damn well there's nothing wrong with the food, sit down" is genuinely heartbreaking. if that's ever happened to you, from the bottom of my heart, i am offering you a full serving of your favorite food.

I want to add to the post I just reblogged about delusions and how to help people with them, but op was specifically schizophrenic, and the last time I tried to share a related story on a post like that, a different OP got extremely angry that I didn't have an identical disorder to them and accused me of derailing, so I'm making a new post.

I have severe anxiety. The things you can believe when you are going through an acute anxiety attack or panic attack can be so extreme they can be classified as delusions. I've been convinced I poisoned myself, I've been convinced I had rabies, I've been convinced a building was going to burn down, I've been convinced my blood was full of bug eggs that were going to hatch and kill me.

Doctors and family members who have helped me the most were people who took those fears seriously, who examined me no matter how irrational my fear was, and who told me why, based on what they observed, my fears were unlikely to be true.

Instead of "you can't possibly have rabies", it was "the dog is vaccinated, so it can't have rabies, and the skin where it nipped you is not broken."

Instead of "Of course your blood isn't full of bug eggs" it was "bug eggs would have hatched by now" which was so coldly logical it completely snapped me out of my panic.

Instead of "I'm sure you didn't poison yourself", the doctor looked at the bug spray and the ingredients and listened to how I used it and said "based on your exposure, you haven't been poisoned".

JJ and PTSD and why 4.10 was a slap in the face

Okay. so. Here's my issue.

(there will be a ton of cursing because I'm fucking pissed.)

JJ's ENTIRE FUCKING ARC has been him feeling like he's worthless, like he's somehow inherently evil, that he "deserves" the things that happen to him, that everything's all his fault. That he should be killed saving his friends because that's all he's fucking good for.

And that? That's not a JJ-exclusive thought pattern. That's what happens to your brain when you're a CHILD and a fucking grown ass man instills that in your head. Whether physical and verbal abuse like they showed in canon, or childhood sexual abuse like what's happened to me and many, many others. An adult shows you that you're not worth shit compared to them, and since you, again, are a child, you fucking believe them. Adults teach you about the world, and kids are good fucking listeners.

So you grow up knowing down to your guts that you don't belong on this earth, you don't own your body, you don't deserve the space you take up. Any of y'all confused by JJ's bullshit?? Well there you go. That's the very basic assumption he's working off of: he's dead, been dead for years, so what the fuck's it matter what he does? It doesn't.

(I don't know how to express that screaming lack of existence to those with an inherent understanding of their own worth and right to living but the closest I can get is this. You look at yourself and understand that no matter what actions you take, you are wrong on a soul-deep level and there's nothing you can do about it.)

Here's the thing. It's all bullshit. And it takes so much fucking effort to believe that, and some days you don't but you trust that you will tomorrow or the next day or the next. That's called healing. That's called living.

Because the only way past this is time and support and fucking proving with every breath that no. Fuck you. I deserve to be here. I deserve to get old. To cry. To weep. To fucking dance on a dock because you finally made a home. That you deserve to LIVE.

And S4E10 just declared no; you don't. JJ was too damaged to give him any other ending. Even Kie couldn't fix him. The best he could hope for was dying in the dirt with someone he loved. Oh look he gave up the crown! He was happy in the end! He had his wish! He loved her!!

Yeah well sorry to bust the 'isn't it all so tragic' circle jerk, but no. It's not fucking poetic. Or beautiful. Or God-fucking-forbid romantic. It's shit.

Because JJ Maybank was never real, but they chose to highlight the very much real pain I and others struggle with using his story. And then they told me that struggle ends with death...because how else could it end?

Just because y'all can't imagine living his life and going on, and going on, and going on, and not fucking killing yourself doesn't mean the rest of us aren't looking down that path every day and deciding to break those lies in one moment of existence after another.

The showrunners missed that.

If they wanted to finish JJ's arc? It wasn't saving Kie, or finally having some 'realization', or sacrificing himself for his friends. It wasn't some short but meaningful life.

JJ needed to fucking live to prove that he deserved it. End of story.

What happens when Ford eventually returns? I mean, Dipper and Mabel will have to get used to a whole ‘new’ Ford, and Bill is a chaos-god again, so meeting him in his real form will be interesting, will Bill just hang around?

To summarise: It isn’t great, for anybody.

In the case of Ford, it’s like he’s just woken up from sleep. In his mind, it’s like no time has passed at all, but instead 30 years has, and he has to come to terms with that. His paranoia is intense, and to make matters worse, he doesn’t just feel like a stranger in his own home, but a stranger in his own body. He honestly spends a lot of time around Stan, despite his lingering anger, as Stan is the only person who doesn’t look at him strangely, or make him feel like he’s the one who stole this body, that he’s the one who doesn’t belong. Stan’s familiar. He’s safe. Everything else is just… wrong.

He’s generally quite unsure around the twins, which is a mutual feeling.

Mabel wants him to feel welcome, she really does, but she’s struggling to cope with the feelings of confusion and betrayal, and though she does her best to put on a smile and get to know him, he always seems very far away. Meanwhile, Dipper thought he knew the Author for the longest time, but apparently, it was all a lie, and he’s hurt, they both are, but Dipper honestly handles it worse. He’s fixated enough on Bill’s pages in the journal to know he’s dangerous, that he did something bad to their real Grunkle Ford, and he’s relentless in finding out what.

It feels like walking on eggshells at all times. Their new Great Uncle Ford is jumpy, and he’s always looking at them like they’re going to attack him. He’s only ever really at ease when Stan is around. Speaking of Stan, he doesn’t blame his brother for being so on edge, nor is annoyed at Ford constantly trying to argue with Stan and prove Bill has manipulated him too, because to Ford, it’s the only possible explanation as to why Stan would protect him. And Stan gets that. Even now, he will never forget the anger he felt at seeing Ford’s body, how damaged it was, and how Bill laughed about it. But, unfortunately, he’s spent 30 years with Bill, 30 years Ford had taken from him, and that leaves everything painfully complicated.

Speaking of Bill, I haven’t decided exactly how he’s going to be present, either he’s completely back to hanging around the mindscape, or he’s latched onto Ford still somehow, either way, he hangs around.

I have a particular vision in mind of him entering the twins dreams sometimes, especially if they’re having a nightmare, and he and Mabel end up having a conversation one night.

I may make a full, coloured comic for it honestly, because it’s very clear in my mind, and Mabel asking Bill to lie to her for her own comfort… yeah.

(If anyone’s seen Buffy, it’s kind of based off the ‘Lie to me’ scene)

(One final note: I think DD&MD will still be the key to getting Ford to open up, but it’s something the whole family gets involved with, even Stan and Mabel, though they admit the game isn’t really for them, just to make him feel more comfortable around them, and break the tension a bit more. Dipper kind of figures out he likes it in the similar fashion of Ford seeing his die!)

How to Create a MEMORABLE Character

A while back, I released a post about how to write "that" character, which basically highlights a few key aspects found in some of the most popular characters to date. However, a popular character and a memorable one is actually quite different, and in this post, I'll briefly explain how to create a character that people will remember.

For starters, a memorable character doesn't actually have to be well-liked. Yes, popular characters tend to be memorable, but it's not always the same other way around. I'll simply explain how to form a character that really sticks with your audience, regardless of their actual opinion about them! And even better, these following ideas work on any type of character! So, if you're interested, let's dive right in!

~ FIRST IMPRESSIONS MATTER ~

I sometimes talk about the importance of a character's reputation because it shows how others view them and the truths and inaccuracies of their character!

But your character's image isn't bound to your cast's eyes--it actually matters a lot to your readers.

When you first introduce your character, do not immediately reveal everything about them. Instead, focus on establishing one or two core traits of your character instead. This will allow your readers to form their own opinions of your character first, and although they might be inaccurate, when the readers realize their misjudgment, the character will get stuck in their head!

For example, there's Tsukishima Kei from Haikyuu!!. Initially, the viewers may think about him negatively because of his introduction. He first appears as a blunt, mocking, and disrespectful person, but as the story continues and the audience slowly warms up to him, we start to see his real character, resulting in Tsukishima becoming one of the most beloved characters in Haikyuu!!.

Why does this matter? The thing is, when we meet new people, we all make assumptions about their personality, goodwill, and whatnot. As we get to know them further, we realize that some of our initial judgements may have been wrong; it's simply an unavoidable part of life. By incorporating that aspect into your writing, you're forcing your readers to think deeper about your characters!

~ GIVE THEM THEIR TIME ~

This will seem obvious but it's precisely because of how obvious it is that it'll often slip people's minds. Give your character the time they deserve. You can do this by exploring their backstory, defining their motivations, giving them some important action, or simply establishing some kind of critical or eye-catching moment regarding them!

If you can't afford to give them a huge role in your story, then give your readers an event focusing on your character that will come to their mind when they think of said character! Like a defining moment!

It can be dramatic, sad, short, anything works! As a matter of fact, you've probably done this unconsciously before, too!

~ MAKE THEM DIMENSIONAL ~

If you can't tell already, it's incredibly important to be aware of your characters' distinctive traits and how they shape your character. However, there are times that a character will and should break their character.

A happy person can't be happy all the time. A carefree person can't be carefree all the time. Even a cold person will have some shifts in character.

This can help will character development, especially if you're not planning to give them a lot of development, but also really humanizes your character! Everyone will eventually get bored of the same personality; people may change in different situations!

See? In the end, this is really just a simple guide--everything is perfectly achievable no matter what character you're writing! These are some good points to keep in mind if you're looking for a character that resonates with the audience!

The way that armys have these 'official' opinions that everyone is supposed to follow is so annoying. Can't they just let people have their own opinions? Cause what do you mean people are not allowed to say Jimin is the best dancer in the group because the 'official' answer is supposed to be J-Hope and you're going against army's rules if you have the 'wrong' opinion?

And I call it 'official' because it's coming from the group itself. The group has these set answers that they always give and their answer to anything dance related is to say "J-Hope!" over and over again as if Jimin is also not a main dancer. That's why there's this misconception that Jimin is only a lead dancer, because with the way the group talks you would think J-Hope has a superior dance position in the group than Jimin and since people know J-Hope is a main dancer they then assume that must mean Jimin is just a lead.

And this all bullshit because these set answers are not even the real opinions of all the members. From example, Jin is supposed to be the answer to any visual related question but some members have talked about finding other members more good looking. And when it comes to vocals we know Jungkook is supposed to be the right answer but Yoongi has admitted to preferring Jimin. But it doesn't matter if they have different opinions, they still stick with these same answers they've been giving for years.

Them acting like J-Hope is a more important dancer to the group is annoying in the same way that Jimin being constantly threatened to be kicked out of the group only to debut as lead vocalist and main dancer is annoying. Because for someone that is not the most important dancer they sure like to give him all the most difficult parts in their choreographies. They sure love to rely on him to get people's attention and given him more center time than J-Hope.

Also for someone who's treated like he's the inventor of dancing, J-Hope sure doesn't dance a lot does he? Cause why does he refuse to dance to his own music? Not once has he had a full choreography for any of his solo songs. Even Jungkook has some, but Jimin is the only member who you can always trust to have a full choreography. If you went to a BTS concert Jimin was the only member that you would get to see actually dance outside of the group songs. He was also the only member people got to see dance live at MMA 2019, since he was the only one who did it live instead of pre-recorded.

And speaking of Korean shows like MMA, Jimin was also the member that would most often participate in dance performances separate from the group. Like when he danced with all those idols at SBS 2016 or when he danced with Taemin at KBS 2017. Just in general he participated in dance performances more than either J-Hope or Jungkook. He did a solo dance to 'Butterfly' at KBS 2015. Did 'Lie/Boy Meets Evil' with J-Hope at MAMA 2016. Did the coming of age ceremony with Jungkook in 2016. Did a 'Black or White' and 'Youth' dance cover with Jungkook and J-Hope respectively, both in 2018. And then there's all of Black Swan. The solo dance in the MV, the other solo dance on MOTS ON:E, and the intro at MMA 2020 that they all participated in but he (and to a lesser extent Jungkook) was definitely the focus of. Jungkook and J-Hope would occasionally be part of these performances but Jimin is the only one that would always be there. It's either all three of them, Jimin and J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook or just Jimin by himself. But not matter which one, Jimin is always there.

You have all of these things: him having the most difficult parts of their choreographies, him being the member that participates in dance-only performances the most, and him being the only one to always have full choreographies for his solo songs. You have all of these yet I'm supposed the believe that J-Hope is the real main dancer of the group and Jimin is basically just a lead? All because the group keeps acting like that's the truth?

Well, you see, the problem is that if you pay attention you'll notice that BTS's words and actions don't always match. Like, they can say that all members are equally talented and equally valued, but then you listen to their music and watch their performances and you realize that some members are consistently given way less than others. Am I really supposed to believe that they actually think Jin is as talented as Jungkook? Cause it sure doesn't look like that when every line in a song they could give to Jin they decide to give to Jungkook instead and on stage Jin is gonna spend 90% of the performance behind everyone else while Jungkook is always in the front. But sure, they're both equally valued in the group, 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦.

The truth is that BTS will sometimes say things that don't match reality. And a example of that is their insistence in acting like J-Hope is a more important dancer than Jimin despite the fact that when you look at it you'll notice that Jimin is the one actually doing all the dancing. And people notice that. Armys can go online and say J-Hope is better but we all know who everybody prefers. The same way we know people prefer Taehyung's visuals over Jin's. The same way armys will say rapline's music is the best then proceed to not listen to it. It's all juts talk. Cause every single time Jimin and J-Hope have danced in the same stage Jimin is the one everyone was looking at and talking about.

What do people remember from the times Jimin and J-Hope did a dance-only performance at the same place? MAMA 2016? Jimin dancing to 'Lie' while blindfolded. MMA 2018? Jimin's fan dance he got an award for. MMA 2019? Jimin's 'I Need U' dance where only he did it live. And what about J-Hope? Did anyone care about the supposed 'best dancer'? How many people outside of his fans (not even armys, but his own fans) remember what BTS song he used for his MMA 2019 solo? I looked it up and it was everyone's favorite song that is perpetually close to a billion streams 'Fake Love'. But do you remember what that performance looked like? Probably not. But we all remember 'I Need U'.

Do you remember what J-hope's performances of 'MAMA', 'JUST DANCE', 'EGO', 'MORE' and 'ARSON' looked like? Or how much dancing was even in any of them? But even if you're not a Jimin fan, you'll remember 'Lie' (as will all the dozen of idol that covered it), 'Serendipity', 'Filter' (which made everybody lose their mind with only two online performances), 'Set Me Free Pt.2', 'Like Crazy' and 'Who'. And that's because 'Face-off' was robbed of a live performance and I'm convinced the reason Jimin didn't perform 'Be Mine' live is because he's waiting until he can has enough time to give it a choreography, because Filter's younger sister deserves nothing less.

I think J-hope's allergy to dancing to his own songs shows a clear difference between him and Jimin. It's not that he can't dance, and he did technically dance for his latest album, but that was only in the documentary and I doubt any of the songs will have actual choreos when he performs them. No, I think the problem is that for J-Hope his dancing and his songs are separate and he doesn't know how to combine them. But unfortunately for him, combining songs with dancing is one of the most important things in k-pop, and he's still part of a k-pop group performing to an audience of k-pop fans. And that's why his dancing is not as liked as Jimin's, because even if you wanna say he's technically a better dancer that Jimin (which is debatable), that still wouldn't matter because Jimin is simply a better idol.

They're not in a dance competition performing to a panel of judges, they're in a idol group preforming to people who mostly don't know about the technicalities of dancing. People don't care about who's technically better, they care about who's dancing looks better and more interesting. And Jimin's dancing has always been more captivating. He always fully embodies the mood and meaning of the songs, no matter how wildly different those songs can be. He let's the music speak through his body and puts a lot of emotion behind it. He adds his own little flairs to the choreographies and has a distinct style that's very different from the rest of k-pop. And he also always gives it 150% percent, regardless of if that makes it look like he's outdancing the other members.

And all of that is why people prefer Jimin. And armys can say J-Hope is better and complain about how it's not fair that Jimin is the most popular dancer in k-pop because "Jimin already has so much more than J-Hope, why can't J-Hope have this one thing?", but like armys themselves like to say to the fans of other groups, this isn't charity, if we can give Jimin everything we 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 give him everything.

No matter what you think about Brock and Rusty one thing is true they raised those boys together. And anyone will tell you kids pick up qualities of their guardians/parents which influences how they go about things.

The influence of Brock on Hank is simple, it’s the one the show starts off with and we see easily throughout the show. I wish they could’ve done more with Dean and Brock, unfortunately they don’t overlap enough to do something with but when they have overlapped the small moments, you stretch it you can see the impact Brock has on Dean.

Heart is Brock entire thing. He is punished for his act of heart going against OSI and getting Billy and Pete together, him racing back in PROM, his attachment to the Ventures, and funny enough his lack of any real love life is because Brock does things true to his heart even when he’s not supposed to (“you’re a tool for the government.”)

That’s super easy to see in Hank, he follows his guns, jumps in, doesn’t second guess if he’s wrong. For Dean it comes out in belief of there being Good Guys. Something Brock shares. For a man who has no real issue with murder the idea of “Good guys” is a thing he sticks with very seriously. Dean copies this to a Dorky level coming off naive but it’s literally the same packaged differently.

Hank knows though everyone is just some guy, a bad guy or a good guy you are just some guy. A lot like his dad in that respect, when you understand this is all a game you can’t really bother with genuinely thinking of sides just how you interact within it. (Hank not really put off about dating Sirena even if her dad is his dad arch. That’s more of an obstacle that they are put into arch and protag categories so he can’t date her normally bc it’s not an actual *thing* for him)

Dean however is under the firm belief there are sides, they can work together sometimes bc he’s seen it, but like Brock, he believes in sides and gets riled up by it.

Speaking of riled up, Dean has Brock temper. I didn’t think much about it to be honest, it shows itself twice physically (Rusty Camp, radiant of the baboon) but when I hop around episodes now I see it in newer episodes. Dean temper is similar to Brock when he is really pushed off the need to protect or save another quality that is picked up by Brock.

Brock aggression is something Dean who is used to seeing it come out when he, hank and doc need protecting, saving, or an affective tactic. Another thing is Brock was and probably still is both boys example of classic masculinity in contrast to their dad (I’ll get back to this on another post.) I think Dean unintentionally mimics it, and I kinda believe we would’ve seen more of it if Dean was put into more situations where he was worried for someone else since the Rusty camp one was for Triana and the movie was for Hank. (Both against Dermontt which shouldn’t count but I am which I will get to in a different post about jealousy in VB)

Brock is the stereotypical “man” he protects the home, he kills to protect, his basics are that man spiel I don’t need to say we know it. Brock masculinity is never questioned really, it oozes out of him and is loudly punctuated. When it comes to sex it’s the same thing, to a problem. I think Dean inherited that, im not saying the one time Dean did a shitty sex related thing makes him like Brock but I actually think it’s more of a Brock move than Rusty weirdly enough. Probably because Brock has hooked up with people wives/gf but that’s not the reason why I say it.

Dean reason with hooking up with Sirena wasn’t really solid, because I don’t think there was a solid reason he did it just because it was happening. That’s why I think it’s more of a Brock move. Rusty we’ve seen talked himself out of being with women who even like him, yes he hooked up with a fan bc she was a fan. She wasn’t someone who can end up seeing his flaws, end up maybe loving back because love is frightening for Rusty because he wants it. If there was a room and a woman who was slightly interested in Rusty, Rusty would magically get out of the room then COMPLAIN he is out the room. We see it repeatedly he will make up reasons really get in his head to jump ship only to stick to people who don’t love him. Or like him.

Hank is the same line but opposite, he is open to love! Yes like Brock his attention to who is quick and focused but Hank is committed because he wants to be loved. Hank is scared of not being loved, he worries although less obviously or loudly about it, and leans hard into it. Action man called him on it, that he resembles Rusty in being downright too attached.

I’ll be honest here it’s so unlikely to actually see it but once you see the Rusty in Hank you’ll end up seeing the Brock in Dean. I remember a YouTube comment saying “Dean is all the negatives [of other people] it’s why I don’t like him.”

I don’t hate Dean, I don’t love Dean but I get Dean so while I don’t 100% agree with that comment I do get it. Dean picks up sometimes the worst traits because he’s so easy to imprint on. He’s funny like that, weirdly easy to leave an impression on but unaware how he repeats things of people he doesn’t want to. Brock being promiscuous, Rusty nostalgic past, the idea of what is important to a man etc Dean mimics it unknowingly. I don’t think that was the root of hooking up with Sirena, (bc the reason is bs yall) I’m just thinking of domino effect of parenting.

There’s a lot of Rusty in Dean literally everything Dean has is Rusty. But where they don’t match up are the core, Dean now understands his dad and they are the same brand of Venture boy but I really think Brock influence on both boys is there for good and bad it just harder to find in Dean. But I think it comes out when Dean stops letting his mind run too much, when he trusts himself, when he’s standing up for something, when he lets his body drive.

But I’m just spitballing! I just don’t believe Dean is all Doc, just like Hank isn’t all Brock. We just didn’t get a lot of time with the boys switched around

Nap Time's Over (Windbreaker)

Hi hello YES! This fic was created after me and @intheticklecloset were yelling about Windbreaker- we've came to the conclusion that Choji needs to be tickled and this is the result akjreakjrkjej Thank you friend for yelling about these dorks with me and helping me feel inspired to write them! :D I hope y'all like it!

Summary: Choji's being oh so annoying, and while Togame can usually ignore it, today he decides to remind the tiny leader what happens with you bug him during "Nap time"

“Kame! Kame, Kame, Kame!” Choji’s voice found him before his eyes did. The smaller teen was sitting on him, pawing at his chest like an excited puppy. “Kame, wake up! We’re gonna go do stuff!”

“Nah. Way too tired.” Togame let out an exaggerated yawn as he tossed an arm overhead, blocking out the sunshine. “Go on without me. Bring me back something good to eat.”

“Kame!” Choji’s voice was one long whine, piercing to others but normal to the taller boy. He pawed at him more, grabbing his Gi and shaking him a little while he continued pestering the brunette. “It’s your last few days off before the fall festivals begin! You can’t just sleep through all of them! There’s pumpkins to carve, members to scare, candy!” He leaned in real close and grabbed Togame’s cheeks, forcing him into an open eyed fish expression as he leaned in. “The good candy.”

“Sounds good.” Togame managed out, muffled by the intensity of Choji’s squish. “Bring me back something with caramel in it.”

“AH!” Choji let out a toddler scream and flopped forward, face first into Togame’s chest as he batted his fist gently against him. “You lazy goober! Don’t make me do this alone!”

Togame was fighting down his laughter, deeply amused by Choji’s antics. He made it a point to keep his eyes closed, hoping the twitching smile on his lips came off as a more relaxed one. Eventually, the pounding stopped, and he could feel Choji’s mind working on what to do next.

Fingers in his ribs made him nearly shoot up with a gasp. “Choji!”

“Come on! Play with me! Play!” Choji demanded as he danced his fingers into the spots along Togame’s upper ribs. “Get up and play with me, Kame-WHOA!”

Now- normally Togame would let the gremlin have his fun. He didn’t necessarily mind being tickled; and if it made Choji happy, so be it.

Today however was far too perfect of napping conditions to let him do so. If the little booger wanted to play so badly, then they’d play alright.

“Fine, fine- have it your way.” Togame shifted his weight so he had Choji semi pinned, encasing him in his arms like a bear. Within a matter of minutes, he had his fingers flying across the honey blonde’s own ribs. “Let’s play a game, Choji!”

“AH!” Another scream, this one of delight as the smaller boy flailed and kicked in his arms. “Kahahahahahme! Gehahahahhaa, Kahahhahame, you chehehahhhahater! Stahhahahaa! Aheahahhahaha, thihihihis iihihihisn’t whahhahat I meahhahahahant!”

“Aww, what’s wrong? Can’t finish the fight you started?” Togame cooed at him, one arm tightly gripping Choji while his other hand kneaded along his sides, focusing his efforts into the softer bits. “I’m surprised- you’re usually the one who always wants to fight! Where’s that bravo? Come on, show it to me.”

“Ghehahahahahhahhaha! AHEHEHAHA!” The tiny leader let out a shrill scream when his belly was scribbled at, kicking harder than ever within his best friend’s arms. His body became an octopus- all limbs slapping and flailing against Togame without much thought. Despite it all, he didn’t make any real attempts to get away. They both knew Choji could easily escape if desired.

That just made the entire situation even more entertaining.

“What? Does someone like this?” Togame cooed sweetly, relishing in the fact Choji had yet to say stop or tap out. “Do you like it when I tickle you? Huh? Aren’t you a cutie pie- yes you are! Yes you are!”

“Yohohoohohohu sohoohhoohund like a creheheheheppy ohoohohold mahahhahan!” Choji argued, only to let out a blood curdling scream. “I’M SHAHAHAHRRY! I TAHAHAHKE IT BAHAHHACK! I TAHAHHAHAKE IT BAHAHAHHACK!”

“You better! Who are you calling old?” Togame all but wheezed at Choji’s noises, jabbing at his belly button a few more times before bringing his hands back to his hips. Still an explosive reaction, but not nearly as deafening. “I’ve just got an older spirit! I’ve lived many lives before this one!”

“Crihiihihispy ohohohohold mahahhan! Gheha-AHAHHAHA OOHOHOKAY OHOHOHOKAY I’LL STHAHAHHP! KKAHAHHAHAME!” Choji was once again shrieking, his thighs being the newest spot for Togame’s revenge. “NOHOHOHOT MY CHIHIHIHICKEN THIHIHIHGHS!”

“Mm, chicken. We should get some after this. Damn- now you got me thinking about food.” Togame tsked good naturedly, giving Choji one last drill into his ribs before holding him tight. “Are you gonna behave?”

“Nohohoho!” Choji shook his head, nearly breaking the sound barrier once more when Togami pressed into his gut. “Yhehehehs! Yhehehehs!”

“You gonna let me nap in peace today?”

“Suhuuhuhre! Suhuuhuhure haheahhahaha!”

“Promise?”

“I PROOOHOHOMISE!” Finally he was released. Choji rolled out of Togame’s arms and onto his knees, giggling as he held his belly. “Ahheheahha! Hehahhhahha! O-Oohohohow! I thihihink you scraahhatched me!”

“Did I?” Choji gestured for him to look, but the second Togame leaned in, he was immediately thumped in the forehead. “Ow! What?”

“That’s what you get, you cretin!” Choji puffed his chest up, trying to look angry. Togame blinked at him, stunned silent.

Seconds later, neither could hold back their laughter.

“Whahahat the hehehell? Whohoho calls someone a creehehetin?” Togame gasped out, nearly in tears with how hard he was laughing. Choji all but fell off the roof with his giggles, holding his belly and wiping at his flushed cheeks. “Thahahat broke my heahhart!”

“Aheahhaha! Yeah, yeah.” Choji snickered as he reached out, petting Togame’s bangs down and smoothing out the red spot. “Bye bye blackbird! Take the pain away!”

Togame snorted, leaning into the head pats as he sat up properly, rolling out his neck. “You’re lucky you’re cute, sunshine. Anyone else who disturbs my naps would be sleeping with the fish right now.” He stood up, grabbing his jacket and gesturing for the other to do the same. “Let’s go get something to eat. All that talk about chicken earlier made me hungry.”

“Yay!” Choji was leaping off the roof and rolling to the ground with ease, already running ahead. “Come on Kame! Before the fresh stuff runs out!” As soon as Togame was within hand distance, he grabbed it and took off, dragging him behind as he sang out more happy songs.

“Slow down- I’m an old man in a past life!” Togame called out with mock complaints, laughing too as he was taken to the nearest restaurant. If it made his sunshine happy, that’s what mattered to him.

He supposed he could nap later.

This is why it’s so important that we accept people who are repentant!

No one is born bad. Kids make stupid mistakes. These are two basic rules that I think everyone can agree with.

The alt right pipeline is a very real and very scary thing that exists in our culture right now, but no one seems to want to bother with it because it’s a convoluted can of worms that is going to be neither easy nor simple nor comfortable to clean out.

So let’s say you have a boy, 17 years old. At the tail end of puberty. A childhood of family-friendly media has reinforced that everyone has a girlfriend at this age, but none of the girls will even look at him. Is it because he has bad acne and refuses to shower and just no one is into him? Or is it because girls are fickle things and need to be tamed? Which one is easier to swallow?

Or maybe he’s 20 and discovering that making money isn’t going to be as easy as a child saying “I want to be a doctor! I want to be a pilot!” and going from there. In fact, he’s having a hard time even affording enough to move out of his parent’s house. And it’s not looking like that’s going to change any time soon. But these tech bros, swimming in cash and living a lifestyle he can only dream of, are telling him that he can do the same. He just needs to deal in bitcoin.

There are a dozen ways that young men can be radicalized, and all of them are slow and gradual. It’s the frog slowly boiling to death, degree by degree.

And so-called leftists in this country have a really hard time with forgiving someone that has done wrong. Once you’re “bad”, cancel culture does its thing. There’s no such thing as an acceptable apology, or reason. Mainstream culture says “you follow Andrew Tate?” and label our theoretical young man a Bad Person and bully him out of their spaces.

But you know who doesn’t bully him? The right. In fact, those traits that the left tells him are shameful and make him unforgivably bad? They’re celebrated.

Look at that post again. This man escaped the alt-right pipeline. What immutable traits did he have? Was it him being unwilling to reconsider his stance that women are lesser? Or was it the fact that he had a mental illness that wasn’t one of the sexy ones? It doesn’t matter; the person above is immediately contemptible, unwilling to accept this man or anything about him. All they heard was “escaped alt-right pipeline” and “immutable traits” and they were immediately sarcastically dismissive of him as a person.

But you know who wouldn’t treat him that way?

I’m not saying you have to embrace people when they show even a little remorse. I’m just saying, hey, when you see someone trying to better themselves, maybe don’t attack them. Don’t say anything, if that’s what you need to do. Let them mature and grow as a person. Because otherwise this “us vs them” will become an enormous chasm that cannot be crossed.

Voice actors are NOT the same as actors.

It takes a specific kind of skill-set and training to be able to warp and meld the voice. It takes a certain kind of talent and dedication to hone that talent into the ability to meld the voice and invoke emotion with one's voice alone. Actors are used to using their voice secondarily to their body language and their facial expressions. It's all mirrored back on camera. They do have nuance. But it's a different kind of nuance and a different kind of training to produce that nuance.

Voice actors might get their likeness transposed on their character's design, and maybe their mannerisms might seep into the character's animation. But when it's all said and done: their presence is in their voice. They are bringing a character to life, showing that emotion in their voice, trying to keep a specific accent, drawl, pitch, tone in that voice and keep it consistent for their recording sessions.

The voice actor is like a classically trained musician who can play first chair in a competitive, world-renown orchestra. The actor (who fills the voice actor's role) is like a moot who played violin in beginner and intermediate high school orchestra and thinks they can get into Juilliard with that 2-4 years of experience.

This doesn't mean that the HS orchestra moot can't play. They can even be really good at it. Maybe they won competitions and sat first chair. But they are not in the same league as the person who's been training their whole lives and lives and breathes to hone their craft using the instrument and all of the training they've ever acquired to perfect it. They are not meant for the same roles. They are not in the same caliber. You do not hire the HS equivalent when you want to play complex music in a competitive orchestra.

Actors are not the same as voice actors.

And furthermore, actors - especially big name actors - taking the roles of animated characters for big budget films or TV pilots makes no sense anyways when - at least in the case of TV pilots - there's not a point to hiring a big budget actors anyways. That money could be used elsewhere (like paying your animators), and the talent that is brought onto the screen for X character could then be hired on to voice said character no recasting required.

I wouldn't say voice acting as a profession is in danger exactly, but it's certainly being disrespected and overlooked for celebrity clout, and this has ALWAYS been an issue. Shoot, even Robin Williams knew that much - which is why he tried so hard not to be used as a marketing chess piece for Aladdin and got royally pissed off when it happened anyways. People shouldn't go to any movie (but especially not animated films) because "oh famous actor is in it". People should go because it's a good movie and the voice acting is good.

People who honest to god think that voice actors are replaceable because "oh well anyone can voice act" or "I like xyz celebrity so naturally it'll be good" ... Honestly I just wish you'd reassess your priorities because you're missing the point and are part of the problem.
