lots of carefully written fics of civilian touya building a relationship with shouto, not enough of civilian touya finding a path of healing and deciding not to pursue a bond with his youngest sibling. nowhere near enough touya todoroki in so many words saying what amounts to "i've reached a place where i recognize that the pain and rage that i felt growing up comes from how endeavor treated us, and you bear no responsibility for it, and are, in fact, another victim of our father. i know that none of it is your fault. but i also cannot deny that looking at you makes me feel sick to my stomach. through no fault of your own, you are a reminder of a past where i was constantly angry and helpless and in pain. i do not hate you, but i have no love for you either. i have no desire to be your brother at this point in my life. for my own well-being, i am leaving this house and i am never coming back and i will probably never see you again. i hope you find some sort of peace from all the abuse our father has put you through. goodbye."

Being an absent father has its advantages.....lol
So I think everyone has kind of come to the agreement that, while it’s super shitty that Endeavor isn’t there to face his son, it’s also probably for the best.
I’m going to double down on that and say that there is absolutely no better way for this to have gone. Why? Because Endeavor not being there provided an opportunity for something new, something that was never going to happen, had he actually fulfilled his responsibility and shown up.
What is happening this chapter? Well we see Touya saying something really heartbreaking:
And we see Touya identifying with the League, and lumping himself in with them for the first time. And who is this all being directed toward? Shouto. Honestly probably the last person Touya wanted to see here, since he was ready to take on his dad right then and there. But he’s not just ranting AT Shouto, he’s explaining himself. He’s explaining his actions, motives, his feelings. It’s literally the complete opposite of how he explained himself when facing Hawks, when he hid behind Stain’s ideals, and denied having any personal connection to the League:
AND! Not only that, Touya finally titled himself correctly, Shouto’s big brother <3
I don’t know what it is about Shouto, but being there brought out a side of Touya that we haven’t seen. Not only is Touya (accurately) explaining himself, but he’s also answering questions. Shouto asked him something really personal just right off the bat:
Something we’ve all been wondering, something the rest of the Todofam is wondering. Shouto just went in for the kill, and Touya decided to actually answer:
Now seriously, ask yourselves, would ANY of this have been able to happen if Endeavor were there? I’m gonna answer that for you–No. It wouldn’t have.
But everything I listed up top is the obvious. We already knew all of that. What I want to double down on is the fact that Endeavor being absent, yet again, is not a mistake, a blip in the narrative, a glitch in the matrix, or a lapse in Shouto’s judgment.
Shouto isn’t really ever shown to be like Midoriya or Iida or even Touya himself in battle, who charge in senselessly without calculating. Shouto kind of learned his lesson very early on not to hold everything in and only depend on himself. So Shouto choosing to be there without Endeavor? That’s not a hasty decision, not to me at least.
I think Shouto decided that it actually is better to handle this without Endeavor. Maybe not entirely alone, but definitely without Endeavor. Why? Because what was Shouto’s INITIAL reaction as soon as he woke up in the hospital?
Literally the FIRST thing Shouto decided was that HE had to do it. Just him.
But alas, a talk with his hurting, grieving, confused family changed his mind which resulted in him making, what I consider, a miscalculated decision:
I always thought it was a bit odd that Shouto avoided eye contact with his dad when reaching out like this. Like….we all knew when these chapters came out that it just wasn’t going to go as smoothly as the Todofam was hoping. We knew, Shouto knew.
And what happens after Shouto decided to include his dad in what was originally supposed to be his own quest?
Well, we see Endeavor avoiding responsibility by focusing on someone else’s kid. We see Endeavor dodging Shouto’s phone calls because quite frankly, Endeavor knows he is the worst person for this job. We see Shouto confronting his father to “do it together” countless times, only for his requests to be ignored over and over and over again.
And lastly, Shouto going back and forth on how to even address his brother.
Touya? Or Dabi?
Not saying Shouto doesn’t deserve a good internal struggle on the situation. He probably doesn’t know what the hell he’s gonna do or how, just that he has to try. And Touya’s words this chapter definitely fall in line with my belief that Shouto needs to separate himself from his father in his brother’s eyes (more of a deep dive on this here and here). But my point is, Endeavor being involved during the Deku solo arc did nothing but hold Shouto back, probably contributing to Shouto not entirely knowing how to go about the situation (hence going back and forth on Touya/Dabi), and prolonging the process of finding Touya and starting this long overdue conversation.
To me, Shouto choosing to be there without his dad was not a mistake and it’s not something that needs to be fixed or mended, or redone. I think Shouto knew that this was honestly the best way, the only way. Because without Endeavor, Shouto can actually exchange words with his brother. Whereas in the war arc, that just wasn’t an option because the second Endeavor fell unconscious, Touya dipped. And when Endeavor was awake even, Touya wasn’t willing to talk, he just wanted to burn.
At the end of the day, it was always going to be Shouto doing this without Endeavor–AT FIRST. This isn’t me saying Endeavor won’t show up and play his part. He definitely will somehow. He has to. But looking back at the Deku solo arc, Endeavor made absolutely zero progress. He stayed stagnant, and Shouto himself noticed this. And Shouto said it himself, that it was his own choice to be there, not because he was ordered to.
Shouto chose to be there because he knows that he is the only one who can do anything even remotely good for his brother.

wait wait hold up i am actually seething about the reveal
ya boi's not a dabi stan. at all. the only reason i'm remotely interested in his character is if he's actually related to shouto and how that would affect hero society in general. i remember reading the training camp arc, seeing him being one of the villains there, him saying todoroki's full name, and thinking "SIBLINGS?????" because agshdfjlk their EYES are SO SIMILAR!! i really want to give credit to horikoshi being able to portray their similarities from artstyle alone because that's talent.
(it's more apparent in the anime since you see the eye color— but appearance-wise, shouto takes after rei and dabi takes after enji the most, so this definitely isn't the best photo to prove my point...)
anyways,,,, dabi's ideals of heroics fall in line with stain's ideals and so we all already theorized how if he was the long lost big brother touya, it would be because of the fact that his father really wasn't a hero. this makes sense. and so, we're all fucking right. props to us, really, and props to horikoshi for all the foreshadowing because i had fun :)) in terms of story and plot, i think this reveal is fantastic.
alright, on to why dabi is a dick
(i'm assuming this was his choice and no one pressured him after all)
the todoroki family is on the road to recovery!!
- shouto finally visits his mother back in season 2 and visits her every chance he gets. you see the effort he makes and it's nice to see him change from season 1 to 2 (early-roki!!)
(guys he even sends her letters- look at that sparkle by his face!! he's sweet :)) and rei's smile!!!!)
- enji (whether we wanted it or not, i don't mind much personally) is trying to atone for everything he's done to his family
- natsuo, who originally wasn't fond of shouto because he had their father's attention (although he does come to the horrible realization that shouto was one of the most unfortunate) and mother's attention (because she wanted to protect shouto), has a closer relationship with his little brother now (can you believe he didn't even know shouto's favorite food was cold soba until ch. 192?? i was sobbing). he really regrets the prejudice he had against shouto and he's trying to be an actual brother to him now.
- rei's almost recovered enough to be released from the hospital!!
- fuyumi and her idyllic "happy family"– wHICH, BY THE WAY, ALMOST CAME TO FRUITION. their mother coming home, shouto connecting with his siblings, and enji being not-the-way-he-was-before is the best outcome they could have hoped for. and it was happening.
and i realize that all of that setup is for this very moment
this? this. this. this is being broadcasted. to everyone. that means the citizens know that their new #1 hero is directly related to a member of a really bad villain organization (i almost called it a terrorist group oop-).
by ruining endeavor, the citizens faith in heroes will collapse. this also affects shouto's reputation as an upcoming hero, and i am so terrified of what this could mean for him. imagine your career ending before it even started, just when you found your passion for being a hero again. all that progress he's made for himself since starting UA could be seen as pointless to him and i would hate for him to retrogress like that because it's not his fault. i would absolutely hate it if the media starts bashing shouto for being related to a villain, when he was also a victim of abuse.
seeing this look on shouto's face is making me dehydrated istg i'm fucking SOBBING— he doesn't even look angry!! in the last few chapters he was angry and worried for his friends, teachers, father maybe, other heroes... but he just looks sad. and the fact that the panel chooses to show the left side of his face is.... there's so much to unpack.
but yeah, this is being broadcasted. does fuyumi know? the cameo she had showed her working so maybe not. natsuo's cameo showed that he was at a lecture, so he also probably didn't see.
but rei did. that's like- that's the person i would want to keep this from the most.
the effects of this entire reveal genuinely scare me. how will this affect rei's mental state? she'll realize that what enji did is actually so much worse. their first child being a villain?? i'm terrified for how she'll react, she's doing much better in recent chapters after all. her kids are visiting her, shouto sends her letters to keep in touch, and enji sends her flowers and respectfully keeps his distance. i really don't want this reveal to result in a relapse. and if she does relapse, then fuyumi's ideal of a happy family is once again out of arms reach. the future of their mother finally coming back home is so far away again and it's genuinely so heart-breaking.
:(
plus— how will fuyumi's little elementary school students react to her being related to a villain? will the school fire her because of her connection to a villain and how that might cause concerns for students and parents????
it's also hard to say exactly how this will affect shouto and natsuo. natsuo was the closest to touya when they were kids so what would his whole opinion be of what touya's become? will he have a moral crisis?
in terms of moral crisises, i guess i'm more concerned about shouto. the boy knows he wants to forgive his father, but this is just making it so much harder. and after this, will he still want to? and finding out that his own sibling is a villain... remember the stain arc? there were some parallels between midoriya's, iida's, and todoroki's positions in the last chapter and i'm worried about what that could foreshadow. from that arc alone, we know that shouto doesn't agree with stain's views at all [i forgot what he said but it was really compelling]. we know that dabi's a stain follower though, so will this disrupt shouto's sense of justice? i hope not.
but family has always been kind of a weak spot for shouto, hasn't it? i hope this doesn't affect his resolve to be a hero because i do think that there's a way to– somehow– not have a corrupt hero society and i want him to fight for that.
touya being a villain is perfectly valid though, i don't doubt that. it's just disheartening to address that while every other todoroki was working hard to become a normal family, here's their oldest brother, who's not really dead. what's going to become of that altar at their house now?
learning the extent to touya's hatred towards endeavor is truly terrifying. we know enji is or was a horrible person and his redemption arc is based on the very fact that he can't be forgiven, despite some of his family trying their best to do so or at least get over it. but the fact that touya has even thought about killing shouto? that's just. ouch. touya's definitely gone through too much abuse, and all of the todoroki family problems are because of enji's bad parenting. but this does not justify murder and especially that of his younger brother, who also got the brunt of the abuse.
needless to say, i am a fool. i don't know if anything i just said will ever be true, but the important thing to take from whatever the heck i just shat out is that all of this is/could be a result of this reveal. it's the fact that dabi seems to have no sympathy. it's the fact that he doesn't care if his blood related family crashes and burns. really, if this is solely about endeavor and what he did, there's no need to bring the rest of the family into this. rei was sent to a hospital for god's sake. shouto has a scar. it's excessive and unmoral and although questionable ethics and values are key traits of a villain, it doesn't justify how much he's hurting the todorokis.
(look at this shit eating grin he has. no remorse. he really doesn't give a shit about the others but I DO and I'M so SAD)
and assuming that the whole "endeavor's wife admitted into hospital" was swept under the rug in terms of media, will that suddenly come back to light? because it shouldn't. maybe it should be known that she's in the hospital because of marital abuse but either way rei should not be dragged back into this disaster, and neither should the rest of them. there's also a chance that the media will accuse rei of having abused her kids too, which is messed up for different reasons. they're trying so hard to have any semblance of a normal family, and if dabi's way of revealing this to the world ruins that in any way then i hATE THIS REVEAL ASDFGHJKL—
#tw: abuse#this is just a rant for myself i'm so sorry for those who have this on their dash#how the fuck do you add those ''under the cut'' things on mobile??#and this is a long ass post#i wrote too much#and i was redundant#and i wrote this at 4 in the morning#many many typos...#i needed to let this out though#bnha 290#bnha spoilers#mha spoilers#notey

Okay, so I think I’ve got a solid timeline of events for villain!Katsuki
Katsuki leaves UA just before the provisional license exam, he’s at the point where he no longer things the hero system can be fixed without outside intervention. He’s done with how the media acts, he’s done with the blame being shifted to victims based on their quirks, and he’s done with the lies he’s been fed all his life.
Prior to this he started researching and planning what actual change would look like and require.
He meets up with Dabi, who’d only let the rest of the league know about the bet a few days prior. He was curious if Katsuki would keep his word or not. Dabi prods Katsuki gently, saying he knew the kid took honestly seriously but he’s still kinda surprised to see him go this far over a bet. Katsuki replies explaining it’s more than the bet. He talks about what he’s seen, and the failure of hero society to change. It’s more than enough to convince Dabi.
Dabi brings him to a secure location, then relays information to Shigaraki. Shigaraki is hesitant, he’s surprised Katsuki came back to them, but when Katsuki explains his side of things, and with Dabi vouching for him, Shigaraki decides to let him in. He can understand what it’s like to fall for hero society. He did for awhile too. Katsuki just needed more time on his own to realize that.
There’s an introduction period, the league is still figuring themselves out and most of them are hesitant to trust Katsuki. It’s about a week before he’s properly reintroduced to everyone and gets the sense that they’re not headed in any particular direction.
After that week, Katsuki decides “fuck that, I’m going to do shit, y'all are coming along” and since Shigaraki doesn’t really have anything better in mind, he decides to go along with Katsuki’s plans.
UA started panicking as soon as they realized Katsuki was gone, but nobody really knows what happened to him yet. Since he took all his stuff with him, all signs point to him having run away.
Izuku refuses to believe that, and most of the class holds out hope for awhile, but as no evidence turns up, more of them start to think it might be true and start discovering the amount of harassment and guilt he was facing.
There’s about a month and a half period in which Katsuki focuses on getting the league in shape. During this period, they do a forcible take over of the Shie Hassaikai.
Overhaul is killed, Eri goes under Katsuki’s care, and the league is established as a much more powerful force.
The Hero Commission is starting to get nervous, but not overly so. Not yet.
After this month and a half, Katsuki makes his first public appearance as a villain.
He’s in an updated version of his costume, most of it has stayed the same, but he’s added what looks like muzzle to the costume that covers his mouth. The muzzle actually functions as face shield/oxygen system so he can move at much faster speeds safely.
Katsuki’s villain debut is a full scale attack by the league on the Hero Commission directly. An event meant that the Hero Commission had gathered in a relatively accessible location, and the villains take advantage.
Importantly, Katsuki is enforcing a policy of limiting needless harm or deaths, because it ruins their message. The league reluctantly agrees, so they’re being a bit more careful than they were before. However, they’ve still got a hit list for this party.
The list consists of officials who they have confirmation deliberately manipulated polices or actions of heroes at the cost of people’s lives, all for some private gain. They do a lot of damage, and manage to kill 7 people on their list.
Katsuki’s first kill happens here. Previously, he’d managed to defeat Overhaul, but wasn’t quite able to kill him. He just wasn’t ready.
Shigaraki took care of it for him, and told him it was fine if he needed time to learn to kill. He was kind and understanding about it in a way that was genuinely weird to Katsuki. Not only because this was all about murder, but it was the first time in his life that he failed and an adult supported him rather than punishing him for his mistake.
At this event, one of the people he takes down tries to appeal to him by offering him a position as a hero to save themselves, and that pushes him over the line. He ends it quickly.
The league escape afterwards, and footage plus eyewitnesses confirm Katsuki was there, and he didn’t say a word to anyone he attacked.
UA, the Hero Commission, and the media collectively assume / sell the story of him having been brainwashed. It’s the only thing that doesn’t make them look horrible.
Aizawa has been weighed down by a lot of guilt during all of this. He should’ve done more, should’ve reached out, but he’d been waiting for Katsuki to come to him. He’s tried to find Katsuki, but Katsuki has purposefully avoided facing him in battle as Aizawa is one of the few people he doesn’t feel like he could hurt or allow one of the other villains to hurt.
The attacks start getting frequent over the course of another month, primarily targeting the people behind the scenes of the heroic’s system, with a lot of other targets of corruption along the way.
On his third attack, Katsuki has his first run in with Izuku, the first of any of his classmates to face him in battle.
Katsuki refuses to speak a word to him, despite the fact Izuku heard him giving directions to Toga, and the two clash.
Katsuki manages to pull ahead in their fight, but he’s distracted from their fight by someone caught in the crossfire. He diverts course to protect them. Izuku was so hyperfocused on Katsuki he didn’t notice the person. It throws him off enough that Katsuki is able to win their fight complete his goal.
After their clash, Izuku’s finally realized Katsuki isn’t brainwashed. Given what happened, he can only assume it really is Kacchan making all these choices, which leads him to reflect on why.
Between slowly uncovering what Katsuki was suffering through, and watching Katsuki’s actions and their very real impact, Izuku finds himself struggling with the idea of heroes as well. Most of Class 1-A and society as a whole really are.
Shouto & Izuku talk, and Izuku confirms that it really is Katsuki. Not a brainwashed version of him.
At the end of their conversation, Shouto assumes that because it’s really Katsuki, they’re gonna go join him. He defects, and is a bit surprised when Izuku doesn’t follow him right away.
Dabi almost has a heart attack over this, but he can’t really judge.
Shouto is accepted into the league after he and Katsuki talk and he apologizes for not having done anything. Katsuki doesn’t blame him for it, as he understands Shouto had no real sense of what was okay.
Eri gains a new older brother, and she could not be more delighted.
During this period, after the first attack, Hawks was sent in to infiltrate the league. Katsuki can smell the commission on him from a mile away, but tells Dabi to kind of let Hawks in anyways.
The league begins slowly working Hawks out of the Commissions control, before finally after about three months, Hawks realizes how shitty they are and defects properly.
A big part of this happens after Hawks finally comes to terms with the fact that Katsuki isn’t brainwashed, and after Hawks meets Eri and realizes how happy and safe she is with her new family vs how he felt at that age with the Commission.
By the end of that three months, a number of other class 1-A kids and a few kids from 1-B have dropped out of the hero course, or in some cases, UA entirely. The public at large has started to become more disconnected from the hero system as they start to see some of it’s major flaws. The Commission comes under more and more questioning and is seriously losing power.
During this same time, you’d expect to see an increase in crime, but you actually see the opposite.
Katsuki has been very careful and forged an alliance with the MLA such that they’ve been able to crack down on certain types of crime (domestic violence, quirk kidnappings, sexual assaults, etc) while also steadily funneling money into getting social services in theses areas.
This means that you start to see less crime, people feeling safer and more secure, even as the hero commission and system is crumbling.
All of this comes together after a year or two of solid in the form of the government submitting to a major reform driven by figure heads planted by the MLA, but only after the league manages to eliminate the last key figures standing in their way.
Since so many heroes have either fallen from grace, stepped back from the system, or been killed in certain cases, Izuku ended up as an unwilling symbol of peace due to his connection to Katsuki.
Izuku is tasked by what’s left of the heroics system with stopping Katsuki from killing the final major figure whose all that’s standing in the way of the reform.
Izuku, in the end, makes the active choice to step aside, giving Katsuki the key he was given to the room so Katsuki can get to the person to kill them.
Izuku finally decided that he’s had enough of this too, and he’s done defending a broken system based on ingrained ideals that don’t add up.
Aizawa is watching inside the room up in the rafters, he’s stayed a hero of sorts but still functions like he did before.
Inside the room, Aizawa had the chance to cancel Katsuki’s quirk and stop him from killing the person. Instead, he chose to close his eyes and let Katsuki go through with it.
Katsuki looks up to where Aizawa is once it’s done, and Aizawa realizes he knew he was there the entire time. He hops down out into the open and speaks plainly as he always did.
“I’m sorry.” Is all he can really say. There’s so much he’s sorry for. For not speaking up. For letting Katsuki be put through so much. For letting him be driven to this.
Katsuki looks at him for a long, long moment, before he finally looks away and shrugs his shoulders. For the very first time in years, he speaks to a hero. To the only hero who ever tried for him, even if it wasn’t enough.
“S'okay. The problem was bigger than you every could’ve fixed.”
“I should’ve tried. I should’ve done more.”
Again, Katsuki needs a moment to consider that.
“Yeah. Probably.”
There’s silence for a few moments, and then Katsuki’s radio crackles to life. Dabi’s calling him back.
They share one more glance, and Katsuki turns on his heel and walks out.
Aizawa watches him go. There’s nothing else for him to do. His right to change this story ended when he failed to speak up all those years ago.

I honestly don’t think there going to be buddy buddy with the villains maybe shouto and dabi I read a lot of shounen when the super villain at the end they tend to go somewhere to reflect like I know people make head canon but I have doubt fairy tail one of the worst shounen didn’t do that
People write how much they will all get along but I doubt it only one is Dani and his family probably sharing a meal but I read too much shounen and it very rare for enemies buddies to be friends like that izuku isn’t going to be bff with shiggy probably have exchange of hopeful words at best think how naruto handle orochimaru or Ed and scar
Different asks but similar awnser.
Yeah, I'm hoping it's less buddy, buddy, and more 'I helped you see the light and I hope you do better in the future', type deal. At least given the way Hori has written the rest of the story so far.
Because I'm not against that kind of thing happening in general, but Hori just hasn't set it up properly, nor do we have the time to course correct.
Usually if the protagonist and antagonist become friends it's at least somewhat before the final boss of the series (Zuko and the Gaang). That or they have a past connection/prior good relationship that the characters can fall back into (Naruto and Sasuke). In bnha we really don't have that.
Touya and Shoto come close, but they actually have the least amount of connection and prior relationship then any other member of the todofam. Shoto didn't even mention Touya to anyone--Fuyumi was the one that brought him up when Shoto's friends came over for dinner. He doesn't long for a relationship with Touya until after the Dabi reveal, which kind of makes it come across as rush/forced by the author.
Meanwhile Touya hated Shoto and has been planning to kill him for years, despite knowing he was abused by their father. He is nothing but a pawn in his eyes and worth more to him as a body then a living brother. Heck, even as a child we're not really shown Touya having any positive feelings toward Shoto. The best we get is him admitting that trying to kill him as a newborn was wrong (though that revelation becomes kind of mute later when that becomes his entire life's goal).
Even though I didn't get farther then the Chunin Exams in Naruto, I can understand why Naruto and Sasuke eventually made up and became friends by the end of the series. They fought and bickered a lot, but they were also willing to put aside their differences and fight side by side. Sasuke even sacrifices himself to save Naruto in their first real battle. He ends up surviving, but in that moment we see how despite their arguments they do have a bond and care for each other.
This isn't to say I want Shoto to hate Touya, but I think a bit more was needed to explain why he suddenly wants this stranger in his life. Frankly, it would make way more sense if Shoto didn't care much for Touya but wanted to bring him back because he can see how much that would mean to his family. Perhaps see how upset they all are and remember how they mourned him and think that deep down his big brother must have some good in him if his family loves and misses him so much. On top of understanding his brothers anger, it would better cement Shoto's drive to bring Touya home, and explain their family reunion in the end (if that's how the story ends).
Then if we go to Shigaraki and Toga, or really any of the LoV besides Dabi, it becomes really hard to see how these characters could be believably be buddies with anyone but each other by the end. It's just to late. If Hori wanted that kind of narrative the other LoV members really needed to defect from AfO sooner.
I really expected either Himiko or Spinner to join the Heroes before this final fight. Partially because things had gotten out of hand and they don't believe if AfO's world domination plan, but mostly because they care for Shigaraki. Spinner more then most was dedicated to Shigaraki and genuinely cared about him. It wasn't the best set up (it would have been nice to get a few panels of them chilling and playing video games rather then Spinner just saying it), but there was enough between them that it would have been belivable that Spinner would leave on his own and beg the Heroes to save Shigaraki.
This has three major benefits--shows how deeply they care for Shigaraki, that they don't agree with AfO, and give them some time with other characters so you can see their relationships grow. All together it also has Spinner or Toga have the bravery to risk a lot to both help Shigaraki and do better. It gives them the agency in their change, instead of it being entirely driven by the protagonists telling them stop being dicks, see that AfO needs to go down.
If this had happened, the characters being friends at the end wouldn't be as much of a stretch because we could have seen those bonds start to form. The villains start to change, and for both sides to air their grievances with each other. For the Heroes/kids to see how dedicated that villain is to saving their own friend, even if it means possibly dying.
Instead, if that change of heart happens so close to end, all of that stuff is gone. It kind of makes the LoV look like cowards who only decided to switch sides because they were getting beaten. It means any relationship they have with the rest of the cast takes a back seat to the action, because there's no breathing room. It undermines the LoV's bonds because none of them were willing to risk anything to help Shigaraki until some rando gave them a pat on the back and firm talking to.
It becomes impossible to see why any of these characters could end up friends except that Hori told us they are. Which is why i think a more hands off approach makes more sense, where if they are saved and alive, the kids who helped them may not hate them, but they they're not palling around either.

"if you have something to tell me, then tell me. I'm not going hold your hand through this baby. Not this time. You have to be a big girl use your words and look me in the eye."
he doesn't rush you, but when you push him back and straddle him feeling his morning hard on beneath you as you start to grind over him he looks surprised but.. pleased
"I love you, Shinsou. I want to be yours, and wake up to you for the rest of my life," after doing this three times it was easier to say the vulnerable words and you never stopped grinding down onto him, knowing he won't mind if your confession is a little breathless the more you get turned on by the intensity of his eyes on yours
"You're so fucking stuck with me now," was his only reply as he flips you over so he can push you panties to the side and with a quick push of his sweats down his hips he's inside you, groaning into your ear "again, tell me fuck again"
"Daddy! Love you, love you so much," you cry out as he starts fucking you with more intensity than he ever has, and you're overwhelmed in the best way when his hands clamp down on your hips and he growls
"no running, ever. not when you're finally, truly mine. good little girls don't run from daddy's love," and you're nodding even when you're cumming until you cry
and your pussy is a mess of your slick because Shinsou is still fucking you
he's biting and sucking hickies onto your neck and savoring every breathless plea for a break, that it's too much, and simply shushing you by murmuring "this is how daddy wants to love you, you love me don't you? then take it"
and you think after he fills your pussy with his cum once you're done, but suddenly your boyfriend who claims he has as much energy as a rock is the energizer bunny, and when he pushes you into a mating press before rutting into you once more you realize you're well and truly fucked
Dabi
Is first one to start pounding on the door the next morning, anxious to get his hands on you and spank you raw for pulling this shit and making him wait
Bakugou opens the door with just his jeans on and a glare, but Dabi is just as pissed and you sigh at having to be the reasonable one this early in the morning
"Kat, fair's fair." You call out softly as you sit up and rub your eyes clutching the sheet to your chest halfassedly, and fuck if that doesn't make Dabi want to fuck you right now so you stay soft and pliant for him
"Fine. I love you baby, text me okay?" The blond relents after a moment, coming to kiss your temple before giving one last dirty look to Dabi on his way out, closing the door behind him
Then Dabi's on you and your smile is like looking at the sun because he's stunned, and instead of the usual urge to fuck you until you cry, he just want to make you feel so good you can't hide your feelings
"Dabi.." your voice saying his nickname makes him smirk, but he leans in close and whispers in your ear, "Touya. My name.. is Touya. I want you to say my name when we're alone okay?" you nod and watch him with so much love in your eyes
He was like an older brother to Shouto because Sho's dad mentored him as their next door neighbor who exhibited a lot of raw talent, and you knew it went horribly wrong- to the point that it usually triggered him to hear his real name after Sho's dad spit it at him while beating him up for not controlling his quirk enough
So to have this trust placed in you made it a little easier for you to try and start, "Touya.."
But you were cut off by his mouth on yours, because in the end, he didn't need the words. He read every emotion in your eyes like he always did
And he hoped you knew he felt the same, so deep it felt like loving you was in his bones
So you were the first person besides Sho to see Touya be gentle
He stretched you on his fingers while he made you cum with his pierced tongue, and to your surprise (and to your pussy's delight) he praised you, "perfect little pussy from my perfect little girl, couldn't have asked for a better 'I love you gift'"
And you were gasping because it was the first time he said the words out loud, and fine, if you liked the words that much he'd give them to you
"I love you doll, from your smart ass mouth to your tight ass pussy.. and your pretty little ass," he pressed a teasing kiss to your tight rosebud (and if Katsuki hadn't ignored your embarrassed squeaks when he personally cleaned you out in the en-suite bathroom so he could fuck every hole full of his cum, you know, to mark you as completely his 'little fuck toy' as he grumbled in his sexy ass deep voice of his) you would have tried harder to get away, or at the very least not moan out
"fuck me there, Touya, please.." which was basically asking him to toss gentleness out the window, but damnit you loved him with all his rough edges, and you knew he loved you too even if he fucked you like a whore
"You let that fucking-" his jaw clenched and instead of continuing he simply barked out the order, "face down, ass up."
You didn't need to be told twice, and you spread your knees wide so he could see your ass and how wet he made you without obstruction
the sound of him spitting registered with you a second before the nasty wetness of it his your asshole, and you jerked at the filthiness of it even as you bit your lip to keep from moaning
but you couldn't keep quiet when his hand connected with your ass with a resounding CRACK!
"you're going to have to make this up to me you know," he said with a eerily steady voice, and you whimpered - nodding against the sheets and wiggling your ass in apology (even though you couldn't regret the way Kat had made you cum with his cock in your ass his his skilled fingers on your clit with a few slaps to your pussy thrown in the mix)
"anything" you looked at Touya over your shoulder and even though your eyes fluttered closed for a minute when two of his fingers pushed his spit into your ass at once with a stinging stretch, you did your best to keep your eyes on him as you did you best to make it up to him
"even since, hhng, ever since you took me there the first time, I can't help but like it so- so much, love it- love you-" you confessed as he stretched you hastily, because he wanted it to hurt a bit as he taught your ass once more who its master was by branding the shape of him into your guts
"is that so? I turned you into an anal slut 'cause you love me?" he teased even though his hand was flying over his fist as he watched you fuck your tight ass back onto his fingers while telling him how much you loved him
maybe if you didn't sound so sincere while you were looking like a whore he could resisted the urge to fuck you into a wheelchair
but you did, you were genuinely in love with him like he only dreamed because who could love someone like him? so to see you looking him in the eye even as your bottom lip trembled and tears clung to your lashes while his thick fingers stretched you ruthlessly for his cock, and trying to smile as you called him Touya and told him you loved him made him lose it a bit
so you were left crying out his name loud enough for the whole house to hear as he fucked your tight ass open on his pierced cock, and fuck you thought you could cum just from this
"you will, you're going to remember why I'm the one that made you love it in your slutty, perfect fucking ass." Touya groaned and you could've laughed deliriously at the thought that he fucked the honesty out of you
but all you did was nod and try to keep your voice steady while he railed your ass as you answered sweetly, "I will, love you! I'll be g-good,"
and everytime he thought you'd safeword, because he really was pounding you too hard for you to like it right? but you just moaned like a fucking whore when his balls slapped against your empty pussy and he pulled you onto his dick with his inescapable grip on your hips, you just sobbed out a "love you!" instead
you squirted so hard when you came you had to change the sheets
Shouto
not exactly sure where to begin, so he's grateful when you just kiss his cheek and suggest a wake and bake when you wake up to him instead of Touya in bed with you (he'd left a blunt and a text that he expected you to keep in touch for the next time you want to get soft on him)
you cuddle up to him, starting to feel like you'd be permanently sore between your legs, and after a few rotations he has to ask, "you meant it?"
"every word, I love you Sho," you answered honestly, because he looked so vulnerable and unsure that you had to let him know you were his without hesitation
"but-"
"no buts, just, believe me. I love you." you murmur firmly and you press your chest into him, knowing how much he likes them
"I will do anything," you stressed the word with a pause to lick your lips teasingly, "to make you believe me. Anything, Sho. Because I'm yours like you're mine."
Why did it make him hard that you were always so willing to let him use your body in every perverted way he every dreamed of?
"lay on your back, I'm going to fuck your tits and you're going to stick your pretty tongue out for me okay?" you grin up at him and wink as you pull the sheets away from you and let your naked body be taken in by his heterochromatic gaze
his dick is hot between your tits, and his precume starts leaking onto your collar bones as he orders you to hold them together so he can thrust between them
you love that you can watch him fall apart, and you find yourself speaking so sweetly and encouragingly.. motherly
"that's it, love you so much baby, I'll always do whatever you like, spoil my baby huh?" and now your chest and throat are covered in his pre, and his thrusts are starting to get manic and desperate, groans turning breathless in a way that makes your cunt clench hungrily around nothing
"gonna, fuck, gonna cum on your face, show you exactly how much I love you-"
"do it Sho, I'll take it for you, just for you cause I love you so much baby-"
and then ropes of his cum hit your jaw, your cheek, your lips, and the bridge of your nose before you finished jerking his seed onto your tits before he collapsed beside you with extremely ragged breath that made you feel smug
until he got up two minutes later eager to give you more of his love, and you got fucked in your extremely sore pussy until you were crying and once more leaking cum

Hello, I hope you are well. For the unpopular opinion ask: Shouto Todoroki is not a well-written character. (But pls let's not fight!! I come in peace). Thank you and hope you have a great day.
Heya! And wow, starting off strong! 👌🏼
Hmm, I disagree - Shouto is a well-written character... Just sometimes underutilized, and unfortunately boring - to me. imo. He's just not my type of fav.
Shouto has a solid backstory, goes through tremendous character development, and forms one of the backbones of the story via the examination of his relationship with his father the Pro-Hero and conflict with his older brother Touya/Dabi. He's got goals, strengths and weaknesses and flaws, and he's got ongoing internal conflicts that merges well with his external conflicts. His interactions with his family and classmates gives plenty of meaty material, and he's also actively doing things that affect the plot.
Design wise, he's distinguishable, easily-identifiable, and cute. He's got super strong superpower(s) that allows him very versatile tactics or victory through pure strength and force. His appearance ties into his backstory, from the hair to the scar to the ice and fire, which is good visual storytelling.
That checks off a lot of the 'criteria' for well-written character! A checklist isn't the end all be all, of course, and so his character succeeds by becoming more than just that. He's a character to watch and take interest in - a reader must take interest in. Plenty of people find him a very interesting character and his circumstances compelling; they relate to him and his struggles, and it's fun to watch him turn from an aloof, angry student to a kind, helpful Hero of his own imagining.
He's a perfectly good character in the story of My Hero Academia. I personally just find him utterly boring.
I've been spoiled on his character-type 'processors': Gaara, the kid who was also born to be an ultimate weapon, isolated and trained, and suffers for it; and Zuko, the fire kid with a scar on his eye who also has major family drama. They were intense, they inspired in me much more emotions, I felt their choices had much bigger impact and repercussions and ripples that intrigued me; so comparatively, Shouto just didn't measure up.
Part of it is the writing around him - not the writing about him, but around him - the world and his role in it. Compared to Gaara - ninja-world equivalent of a Weapon of Mass Destruction and child of the leader of a major world power; and Zuko - Prince and Heir to the Main Villain Empire and trying to catch the one Hero that threatens their global conquest; Shouto is just any other good kid going to school, learning to be a Hero, not able to make major changes that really affects stuff. He can't, because he's 16-years-old in a modern-ish society that limits the power and responsibilities of children, and he's a good kid who isn't gonna jeopardize his chances of success. He does what he can, his interactions with the people around him are significant - though mostly on an individual level; and the Todoroki Family Saga has only started, so he always had potential to really change things - just not yet. He really makes sense for the character he's supposed to be, and that's a good thing! Just not my thing.
I guess you can say the fact that he hasn't gone rogue or really rock the boat is bad writing; but I think that's more of an opinion about what you want out of the story and character. For a lot of people in the fandom, his emotional and interpersonal journey fulfills their story satisfaction.
Which is why for what I want for the story, I think Shouto and his character and storyline shines best when he's interacting with his family - Endeavor, Rei, his siblings, Dabi. The Todoroki family conflict is connected closely into the worldbuilding, the themes of Heroism and responsibilities and atonement/redemption and conceptualization of power in the HeroAca world, and the overall story question of whether or not society will be destroyed. His decision to continue interacting with Endeavor, his thoughts and feelings on redemption/atonement, what he thinks he's obligated to do as son and brother, how that will affect what he thinks Heroism is - All that is real good. And the Todoroki family story is best when everyone plays a part (yes, even Endeavor) in a sort of ensemble cast, so it's not particularly Shouto that I'm interested in in this case either.
One can probably make the argument that the changes he goes through at school affects this, which is true; but I think Shouto could've had his epiphany with a total stranger or even off-screen and that wouldn't change how the rest of it plays out.
(God I hate that Sport Festival "Talk-No-Jutsu". I didn't get it and wasn't convinced back then, I still don't get it and am not convinced now. But that's also more with my issues with Deku.)
I'm very tepid on Shouto also because I love my angry, fucked-up kids, love my terrible, no-good-doing characters (Gaara straight up killed people, Zuko being the imperialist soldier he was). Shouto was angry and aloof at the beginning, but he was still an observably polite, good kid: no hurting other people, getting good grades, etc. He would've appealed to me more if he was burning and frostbiting kids left and right, if he was cruel and arrogant, if he was unpleasant and a bully. If what he did left big consequences, if some of his actions were unjustifiable, if his epiphany and 'change for the better' arc was much harder and tougher.
That would've made him a more polarizing character, but I would've been much more interested in how he'll develop in the long run and he affected the world around him.
(Ironically, that means I would've liked him if Shouto acted more like Touya/Dabi. Which seems paradoxical, except I do like Touya/Dabi - that is, canon!Touya/Dabi, the one who is fantasy racist and sexist and ageist, is sadistic and out to really hurt people. We need more of this Very Unpleasant Dabi. Not because I wanna hate him, but because that's also more interesting to me than the usual conceptualization of him as a tragic Loving Big Bro whose flaws can be completely blamed on Endeavor.
Basically: 'unforgivable' characters with big, unjustifiable actions and no excuses -> my great attention.)
Sorry this got super long! Thanks for Reading! And thank you very much for the ask! I hope you have a great day as well!!!!

Hewwo!💕 jk jk. May I request a scnario (or headcanon what is easier for you) of shoto x izuku's older sister!reader. (Since tgis is an xreader blog maybe she is adopted? Ur choice) Maybe she meet him after the sports festival, and the only person that knew about her besides izuku was bakugo, and she is just so sweet and full of the fluffs that make his heart go boom. Sorry if I'm too specific 😅 love you💕
Um, hi! First of all, I am SO very sorry for the amount of time it took me to write this. Like seriously, I try to get things done in order, but for some reason requests have been a bitch to write. Second, I also love you! <3 And third, I love this idea! I hope you don’t mind, but I wrote it so that Izuku’s big sis was biologically related. Also, it’s mostly from Shouto’s point of view. I hope this is okay!
N/N = Nickname
It’s yours! Your quirk, not his!
Midoriya’s words repeated themselves over and over again in Shouto’s head as he trekked down the hall, trying to find the other boy before he left the stadium for the night. Crowds were already filtering into the upper halls to exit after the winners had been officially announced, and he didn’t feel like dealing with the hassle of being asked questions and giving statements about his second place win. Honestly, he could care less about that right now; he had a lot to think about, and most of it revolved around his scum bag father and his new...acquaintance? Rival? Friend? What was Midoriya to him, anyway? They’d almost been complete strangers before the sports festival, but now he felt a sort of connection to the other boy he couldn’t quite put his finger on. It was all so...confusing.
“Excuse me-!” Someone bumped into his left shoulder as they whirled past him, clearly in a hurry to get to their destination. “I’m sorry, oh-! Um...” A girl that Shouto didn’t recognize slowed only a little as she turned to apologize, a panicked expression on her face as she walked backwards without watching where she was going. “I’m so sorry!” she exclaimed one last time before turning around and bolting off, almost knocking over a startled Tokoyami in the process.
Shouto stared after her dumbfounded, not sure what to make of the situation. It took him a moment to gather his thoughts again after the distraction, but he collected himself and turned to Tokoyami as the other male strode past him.
“Do you know where Midoriya ran off to? I need to speak with him.”
“Midoriya, hm?” Fumikage paused as he thought about it for a moment. “I believe he was headed in the same direction as that girl, actually.”
Without so much as a thank you, Shouto started down the hallway again, faster this time now that he knew where he was going. It didn’t take him long at all to catch up to the girl he saw earlier, and he could hear her stumbling her way to her own destination just around the corner, muttering apologies and greetings as she tried to stay out of the way of others. But just as he turned, she seemingly vanished, and he frantically looked around before spotting a rapidly closing door a few feet away.
There.
As he inched closer, he heard voices coming from inside; one of which belonged to Midoriya, he was sure, and the other... He tore open the door at the last minute before it could slam shut, barging in on the middle of a conversation between Midoriya and the mystery girl.
“-reckless, baka! Honestly, Izu...”
“I’m fine, N/N! Recovery Girl fixed me already, and they said I did really well in sur...gery, so-” Midoriya’s voice wavered on the last half of his sentence; clearly he was afraid of the reaction he would get by telling this girl about his injuries. “Anyways, I can hold my own! You don’t always have to worry about me, you know. I can take care of myself now...”
“Surgery!? Oh, Izuku... I know you can, but as your sister, it’s kind of my job to worry about you, whether it makes you embarrassed or not!”
Sister...?
Said sister smacked the top of her brother’s head lightly, earning a light blush and a pitiful “Ow, Y/N!” from her younger sibling. “Careful! My head already has enough bumps and bruises from the festival...”
“Eh, what’s one more from a good scolding? You’ll live, kiddo.” Todoroki would hardly call that a scolding. Even with her playful words, she gently smoothed a hand over his hair, ruffling it in a tender way while gazing at him with concern. “I am proud of you. You’ve come a long way, otoutosan. Just please try to take better care of yourself. I think you nearly killed mom.”
Todoroki took a moment to really look at the two of them. Since when did Midoriya have a sister? It wasn’t like the two of them were close, so he wouldn’t have known anyway, but it came as sort of a shock that not only did Midoriya have a sibling, but they were older than him as well. His prior objective momentarily forgotten, he watched as they interacted with each other, noting how similar their features seemed yet so different at the same time. The two of you shared the same fluffy hair (though Todoroki thought the colors differed), the same nose shape, and of course what he considered to be the trademark of the Midoriya clan: those kind, round, determined eyes that he just couldn’t help but stare into-
“T-Todoroki-kun?” Midoriya broke him out of his thoughts, the greenette staring at him with a puzzled expression from across the room. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you heading home?”
Shouto was no longer sure that he wanted to talk to the other boy. He felt like he had intruded on a private conversation, like he wasn’t wanted here. And if he was being honest, it wasn’t fair of him to dump all of his problems on Midoriya. And now that he was really putting effort and thought into it, he wasn’t sure he was ready to even talk about his struggles at all. Besides...he knew deep down he needed to confront the issue at hand directly, and not just through venting to someone else. But before he could think of an excuse to leave, Midoriya’s sister cut in, clearly reading the tension between the two boys and wanting to ease some of it.
“Hey, I know you. You’re that Todoroki kid, right? I was watching your match with Izuku from the stands; you were amazing out there! You both were. You sure gave Izu a run for his money, huh? That’s saying something, considering my little brother is practically a stubborn bull when he sets his mind to anything. He doesn’t give up until he’s won, so I would say you’ve got quite the talent and willpower!” you said cheerily with a grin. “If you heard anyone screaming during your match, it was probably me. I like to show my support for my fam!” As if to emphasize your point, you slung an arm around your little brother’s shoulders.
Todoroki briefly recalled hearing someone shout Izuku’s name in the distance during their match, but he had been so focused on beating his opponent and being angry at his father that he hadn’t really noticed it at the time. “Mm. So that was you,” he stated plainly.
“Yep! Sure was! Anyways...” You suddenly made direct eye contact with Todoroki, and he swore you were looking right through him as you spoke, “It was nice to meet one of Izu’s friends, finally. I was starting to worry that maybe you guys didn’t exist.” You laughed as Izuku playfully pushed you away in fake annoyance at the halfhearted insult. “Oh, I’m Y/N, by the way! I’m a third year at UA, so you’ll probably see me around this year. I’d love to get to know you more! I think your quirk is super cool, I’ve never seen anything like it!” you gushed.
A friend...so that’s what I am.
Shouto didn’t miss the light pink color dusting your cheeks. Just a moment ago, when the two of you had locked gazes...he had felt something electric. Did you feel it too? His heart beat a little faster at your proposition, his imagination running wild with silly little scenarios; sitting with you at lunch, training with you to improve his fighting style, asking you out on a date, buying you flowers. He was no longer thinking about his struggles or what he was going to face tomorrow; those things didn’t matter anymore. For now, when you met his eyes, it felt like it was only the two of you and Midoriya and nothing and no one else. Even if he had just met you, he was already head over heals for your bubbly spirits, the way you loved your sibling, and the laughs and smiles you seemed to give away so easily. He wasn’t sure how to describe the feeling he got when he looked at you. You had this air about you; you made the people you were around feel cared for, important, and happy. You were just like your brother in that sense, he supposed.
“Thanks,” he breathed, though he wasn’t sure if you could even hear his response. Regardless, you turned back to Izuku and continued on.
“Hey, Izu, we should get going. I’m sure mom is anxious to have you home.”
“Mhm.” Izuku nodded in agreement and went to collect a his things.
“Well, see you around!” You bid Todoroki goodbye and walked past him confidently, a warm smile on your face as you waved.
“Y-Yeah...” Shouto was at a loss for words as he watched you go.
“I’ll be outside, Izu,” you called over your shoulder, and then you were gone, only rays of sunshine left in your wake.
“Todoroki.”
“Hm?”
“You’re staring...” Midoriya awkwardly told him.
Shouto didn’t seem phased by his words at all, instead choosing to turn to the green haired male beside him now.
“We’re friends...right?” he asked, an unfamiliar nervousness saturating his voice.
“If you want to be, then sure. I’d like that.” Midoriya gave him an inviting smile, finally following you out the door and leaving Todoroki to his thoughts.
Yeah, he had a lot to deal with now, but at least he wasn’t alone anymore. He could do this. He would do this. For you, and Izuku, and for himself. He was going to confront life head on and deal with whatever came his way no matter what.
After all...it was his life. His life, and no one else’s.
I hope this was okay! I realize not much happened between Todoroki and the reader, sorry...this is just where my mind took me. ;w; But since not much happened, I’m considering keeping this on the backburner of my mind for a possible part 2 drabble thing? We shall see.

Hi!! So I’m a really big fan of both your quirkless!izuku fics and was wondering if you had any recommendations for similar stories? I dont have a preference for either villain or hero Izuku, or any particular pairing, I’m just looking for well written multi-chapter fix’s to see me through the apocalypse.
So, I have taken this ask as a challenge!
Quirkless Apocalypse (Over 50,000 words)
*WIP
Sorry most of these are WIPs, but I just went through my bookmarks and picked out some of my favorites.
Entropy*
Maybe it was All Might's betrayal that finally broke him. Maybe it was the torment from his friends, day in and day out, or the crushing weight of society's collective dismissal of his existence. The reason isn't important anymore- only the consequences. Two years after he and three other students vanished from U.A., Midoriya Izuku is the leader of the fastest-growing group of villains in Japan, and no one is left to stand in his way- no one aside from All Might's successor, the next Symbol of Peace.
All orderly systems descend into chaos. No one is immune to entropy, heroes least of all.
One of my favorite villain fics, basically Izuku becoming worse than the league of villains ever was.
Four Makes One Team*
“Kacchan,” Izuku said, getting the attention of the boy beside him. “What if I don’t want to be a hero?”
Izuku spoke as if he was setting the world on fire. As if he’d broken time in half and let the fabric of the universe collapse like a folding chair.
Katsuki twitched. “Then what else do you want to be?” There was a tinge of anger in Katsuki’s words, the hint of a shout tipping each consonant.
“Well,” Izuku scratched his neck, eyes locked on the stars attached to the ceiling that shown an odd neon yellow in the afternoon light. “Well, what if I wanted to help heroes or something instead.”
(Where Izuku decides he wants to be hero support, learns computer code, and digs way to deep into a villain case all for the sake of teamwork.)
Basically, Izuku and Katsuki meet some other canon characters as kids and basically become genius vigilantes.
Subject: A Comprehensive Report*
Izuku decides early on that heroics is not the only path to heroism.
I did not know that I needed parental Nighteye, but I definitely did.
Finding Abandoned Hope*
Nothing in life was fair. Some people just had more luck than others. Midoriya Izuku was not one of those people. He learned that the hard way.
Not everyone gets good quirks. Not every quirk is accepted by people. This was a cruel and unforgiving world and Shinso Hitoshi knew that quite well.
Together, maybe they can have the life they both want.
Runaways, Vigilantes, Dadzawa. What else could you ask for?
Ripples on Deep Water*
Midoriya Izuku didn’t expect much from life. He knew it expected everything of him, and he was always trying to rise up and meet that challenge.Except for one little mutation in his genes that made all the difference.Except for one little change in the route home after a pretty depressing day.Or:When All Might crushes Izuku’s dreams, he crosses the path of someone who rebuilds them. Izuku’s going to be a hero... even if it won’t be exactly as planned.Or:How the tiniest wingbeat of a butterfly over the still ocean brings tsunamis to distant lands.
Izuku meets Mei at the right moment and basically keeps his dream alive. Support!Deku with an eye toward the hero course.
Black Rabbit*
For most people, waking up in the secret base of one of Japan's most wanted vigilantes would probably be terrifying. For Shouto Todoroki it ends up being first stroke of luck he's ever had. Black Rabbit is nothing like the rumors and ends up being his first real friend. For once in his life Todoroki feels like someone actually cares about and supports him, Black rabbit going as far as to get him a new identity so he wouldn't have to go back to Endeavor. It also helps that, on top of being the embodiment of sunshine personality wise, under the mask Black Rabbit is the gosh darn cutest boy Todoroki has ever laid eyes on.
Izuku Midoriya is the vigilante known as Black Rabbit. Pros all over Japan have tried to catch him but all have failed. Nothing is known about him and he's been doing this for years, living in his secret base alone. He never had a friend until he rescued Todoroki. It's a relief and a blessing to finally have someone who knows him out of the mask and likes him as a person. There's a personal connection and closeness between them that he's never had before and he'll follow it as far as it takes him.
Now if they can only keep their respective identities a secret while attending UA
Vigilante!Deku with a healthy helping of Dadzawa and some sweet TodoDeku on the side.
Who said the only thing green about him is his hair?*
All Might isn't able to get away from the reporters after saving Bakugou and Midoriya during the sludge incident.
Midoriya Izuku, without motivation, Bakugou's words of suicide ringing through his head. He makes a decision, something that wouldn't ruin Bakuguou's chances of becoming a hero, something where he could get away from everything that was hurting.
Izuku decides to run away. Impulsive and hasty, desperate and in shock, he decides that running away and surviving would hurt less than any other option when reality hits him full force.
Runaway!Deku, enough said.
Swan Dive*
The Slime Villain Incident, and the events leading up to it happen one year earlier. Izuku, broken and lost in the face of All Might's words, decides to take Kacchan's advice. But a familiar Underground Hero won't let a young life end so quickly. How will a simple right-place-right time scenario change things?
OR:
Aizawa Shouta saves the life of Midoriya Izuku and finds himself with a new apprentice and surrounded by a quickly growing family circle. What has he gotten himself into? Heavy Dadzawa and Dadmic. Auntie Nemuri and eventual redeemed Bakugo.
The sweetness! The trauma! This fic will definitely punch you in the heart in more ways than one.
I’m Here*
What if All Might never dropped that bottle...? There was never a chance to prove himself. Midoriya never became a hero. Take a dive off the roof of the building, that's what Bakugo wanted, right? But a stranger stops him and gives him a new dream for the future. A boy's descent into madness and obsession but not without finding a family amongst a number of misfits. To kill some major league heroes. It's all they want to do and change society. What's the cost?
Insane!Villain!Deku. Literal chills, seriously. It definatly gets dark, so be ready for that. Also the league of villains as family and obsessive TodoDeku.
I’m Doing This For Them*
Izuku always wanted to be a hero, but without a quirk almost everyone he met said that was impossible, but Izuku's stubborn and he never took no for an answer. So he decides to take his dream into his own hands and do the impossible. Even if he can't legally become a hero what's to stop him from doing it illegally?
A lie-detecting detective, a purple-haired kid, and an insomniac pro hero, that's who.
Or
Izuku decides to try his luck at becoming a vigilante and subsequently annoys the shit out of everyone he meets.
Sassy Viligante!Deku, EraserMic with Shinso, basically so much family!
The Yakuza isn’t that bad*
After Izuku was told by his idol that he can't be a hero without a quirk, he realized something. This world, where the quirked do whatever they want, and the quirkless are treated as less than human, is flawed. And what better way to repair a flawed world than returning it to when it wasn't?
Do you want Mafia!Deku? Very unique fic about Izuku taking over Overhaul’s operation (don’t worry about Eri, she’ll be fine) and pursuing a quirkless world.
Independence*
All Might is the number one hero, and has a beautiful wife, they are a beautiful, loving family. What no one knows is they have a quirkless son. When telling he him he can’t be a hero, Midoriya Izuku takes fate into his own hands, and tries to warn his parents he isn’t going to listen is the silliest of ways. He is still planning to be the best hero, even if he has to tear apart the society norms around him.
Bad bio-dadmight. Izuku is basically running on sheer spite at this point and it’s working.
Nii-Chan! Nii-Chan!*
Aizawa Shouta is a teen who lives by the rules of logic and rationality, in his second year of Yuuei. When his parents kick him out when discovering he has a boyfriend, he finds himself alone on the street.
Midoriya Inko lives in a small flat with her young and only son after her ex-husband ran learning she was pregnant. With Mother and Son sharing a huge heart with un-measurable amounts of love, they find and help Aizawa.
With a new Mom and a little Brother, Aizawa finally has a family to be proud of.
How much found family can we incorporate into one story? The answer is a lot more than you’d think. Basically once Izuku adopts someone, they are family. Lots of fluff.
Erased Potential*
Midoriya Izuku, determined to become a hero before ever meeting All Might, looks for another way. He might not have a quirk, but that can’t be all that being a hero is about. He has the intelligence, the drive, the determination. All he needs now is to know how to use it. Enter Aizawa Shouta.
Pretty much my favorite Dadzawa fic.
Net Neutrality (series)
I feel like this should be included even if each fic isn’t over 50,000 words. Info Broker!Deku and Vigilante!Deku with Eri getting the love she deserves. This inspired some parts of Mastermind, actually.
One-Choice: Vigilante*
Time is a funny thing, the way even a single choice can change the world forever. Every single choice can turn the course of fate in unexpected directions.
Midoriya Izuku always wanted to be a hero. Ever since he was a child, he wanted to be someone who saves other with a fearless smile. But when his world comes crashing down around him, when even the tiniest spark of hope is crashed, what would he do?
This entire series is really good. It’s basically another take on what I’m doing with my For the Want of a Nail series.
Secondary Colors*
"You got pushed down the stairs... and you're apologizing for it," he stated blandly. "That seems counterintuitive.""Um... sorry?" Izuku whispered. He was starting to shake a little, adrenaline flooding his veins and leaving him cold. He had no idea what Purple was going for with his blunt statements and the hand reaching toward his shoulder as if to steady him, but apologizing was generally safe."You don't have to apologize, dude. I don't know your name, but I doubt it's actually Deku.""Um. Midoriya." Izuku peered sideways at Purple as they rounded the corner. "Izuku Midoriya. Deku is just, um, just what my... friends call me." He winced."Sounds real friendly."
Izuku and Shinso are best friends with a lot of Dadzawa and Dadmic.
Pied Piper*
If they wouldn’t give him a chance then the solution seemed simple, he’d give himself one. He’d force the world to see him, force them to recognize his hard work. He wasn’t missing a quirk, it was simply that everyone else had been given an advantage. He wasn’t broken, or useless, or incapable, and he’d prove it by outrunning all of them, he who was quirkless, he who had started in last.
One of my favorite Vigilante!Deku fics, hands down. Izuku is an absolute mad lad in this.
We Don’t Need No Fuckin’ Heroes*
Almost half a year before Izuku's fated meeting with the Slime Villain, our protagonist finds himself running away from his fears. But instead of letting his fears overtake him and drag him back down to the darkness where they think he belongs, he finds friendship in the most unusual places and with the help of his friends they all claw their way up into the light where they want to be and where they truly belong.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if Izuku met Dabi and Toga before they could join the league of villains? Amazing Vigilante!Deku
Detective Midoriya*
After the sludge incident, Izuku Midoriya's dream was officially crushed. However, a later experience takes the boy in a new direction. Izuku had never really contemplated being a detective, but his whole life he'd only ever wanted to help people with a smile on his face. Thanks to some luck and an entire police station, Izuku's dream is reborn.
Izuku joins the police force and basically proves that he’s as amazing as we all know he is.
There is No Such Thing as Competely Forgiven
Deku doesn't become a hero, though he might be considered one to people that have been rejected by society. He can be petty, twisted, and is loyal to a fault. That hardly makes him evil. No, he just knows the worlds got to change and he can't do that from a side that praises people like Bakagou Katsuki and All Might. He also would love nothing better than to get even with a few people that ruined his life...
Katsuki knows that he is the reason that Deku is dead. He just can hope one day he can forgive himself and that others can as well for the role he played in it. He needs to make the world a better place, one that Izuku would have wanted. He needs to be a hero that does more than punch villains in the face. But its really hard to be a needed change when he can't trust most of his own decisions are the right ones.
One of my favorite villian!Deku fics of all time, mostly because of the found family stuff it’s got going on with the league. It’s also got a sequel if you want more.
A Deadman’s Gun
“I—“ Izuku hesitated, gaping wordlessly, before admitting softly. “I don’t know. I just don’t want to go home. There’s nothing for me, there.”
“So you filled this hole by playing detective— And how long is that going to last, I wonder?” Stain replied, still massaging his chin. “But you— You have potential.”
Izuku blinked at Stain’s chest, before looking up. “Excuse me?”
“What a waste would it be, to let you become a red splatter on the sidewalk.” Stain continued, almost contemplating. “No. No, kid, what you need is a new purpose. Your old one is gone? Well, time to get off your ass and find something else—“
Ok, there need to be more parental Stain fics in this fandom, because this is absolutely amazing!
Hero Class Civil Warfare
Heroes lead by Bakugo.Villains lead by Midoriya.Seven days prep time.Three days for Izuku Midoriya to show why they should be glad he's not a real villain.
Ok! Ok! I know this isn’t Quirkless!Deku but I have to include it because it’s a classic and it’s pretty similar to my fics, so I know you’ll love it anyway. It focuses on Izuku’s intelligence rather than his quirk.

Out of Sync (Part 1 of 2)
Summary:
Deku and Ochako have been married for the past 8 years and have two wonderful kids. Too bad marriage isn't easy. Ever since Deku lost his quirk two years ago, he's been in a slump. He's now a stay at home dad while Ochacko is a very popular pro-hero. The downside? Her agency works her so hard that she's barely home. Basically, Deku and Ochako realize it takes more than love to make a relationship and family work. “Deku-chan! Ahh, I’m so sorry for coming in late again, my agency has been running me wild.” Ochako looked guiltily at the floor. This was the third family dinner she missed in the last week and even though she knew her husband understood she still felt bad about it.
“That’s fine,” Deku pressed his lip together into a small smile. “I know you're busy. Plus the kids and I watched you on T.V today. Toshi was very excited that his mama was so cool. Izuku turned his attention away from his wife and towards the dishes.
Ochako felt uneasy. Was something wrong? Did she do something? She had been getting more popular lately and was away from home more often than not. “Hey is everything okay?” she asked cautiously.
“Everything’s good.” Izuku continued to focus on the dishes. Ochako knew something was wrong, but she was too tired from a long day of hero work to do anything about it right now.
“Okay then. Let me know if you need me then.” she lingered for a moment, hoping Deku would speak up. He used to be an open book. She remembered back when they first started dating there were no secrets between them. It made her feel good knowing she could hold his heart in her hands. She missed that, things weren’t the same lately.
“I’m fine Ochako, you have an early day tomorrow and should probably turn it. Don’t worry I can handle the fort here, you worry about all the citizens that need you.” She opened her mouth to protest, to say something, but the words didn’t come to her. She didn’t know what to say to him anymore. The last two years had been the hardest of their marriage and she sometimes wished she could take a time machine back to when they were in sync. For now, all she could do is get some rest and do it all another day.
Ochako woke up to find her husband still asleep next to her. She loved seeing him like this. He looked at peace. Ever since his fight with All for One two years ago, he had been tense. She knew why. It’s not easy losing your quirk and your dream, but she wondered how much longer it would take for things to get back to normal. The man she married was bright-eyed and determined. That’s what she admired about him, the light in his eyes inspired her to work hard and become a great hero. She missed that man.
Deku woke up to a cold bed like every morning. He missed having Ochako beside him when he woke up. He would trace circles on her stomach and she would giggle and tell him to stop because it tickled. Back when he was at his agency they would wake up at the same time and race to see who could get into the shower first. Sometimes they got in together and took a little too long to get ready. He missed those times.
“Daddy! Daddy!” he heard his son bang on the door to his bedroom. “Hey, pal? You’re up early today.” he opened the door which caused his five-year-old to race past him and start jumping on his bed.
“Daddy look I can float just like Mommy!” he closed his eyes and touched his fingers together hoping something would happen, but nothing did. Izuku hoped that his kids would get Ochako’s quirk. He knew how hard it was to be quirkless and hoped his children wouldn’t inherit the same fate.
“It’s okay buddy, you’ll quirk will come in soon.” he smiled at his son. He hoped his words would ring true. He took Toshi off the bed and went downstairs to start making breakfast. Pancakes because his kids both had a sweet tooth and today was Sunday. It was a shame his wife had to work this Sunday as well, he never got to see her anymore. He finished making pancakes and went up to wake up his toddler.
“Hikari sweetie? Time to wake up.” His two-year-old daughter protested a bit, but with some encouragement got out of bed. Hikari was just a newborn when the incident occurred. He felt bad thinking about how much Ochako had to deal with back then. She had to not only take care of the baby but him as well. He was a mess after that fight. All for One’s dying face was ingrained within his mind. Losing One for All was the hardest on him though. He wished he was able to handle it better like Mirio when he lost his quirk, but he just wasn’t strong enough. One for All wasn’t just his quirk, it was his last connection to All Might and now that was gone too.
“Papa!” Hikari stretched her arms up indicating she wanted to be picked up. He picked her up and carried her downstairs to eat with her brother. Taking care of these two was the light of his day and he loved discovering pieces of his wife in them. He still missed Ochako, she was there, but she also wasn’t. Of course, she was a big hero, but he wanted to hold his wife. He couldn’t tell her that though, she needed to focus on saving people.
Work was particularly difficult for Uravity today. It was only noon and there had already been a villain attack and rescue mission. She was looking forward to eating lunch alone and video calling her kids. Izuku made it a point to pack her lunch for the last few months and looking at his note in her bento was always a highlight of her day. She still wished Izuku would take some time to talk to her, but for now, she'd settle for his little notes. Today’s note was a hand-drawn picture of Toshi and Hikari making a heart with their hands with the words miss you inside. She missed them too. Pro-hero work had been demanding the last few months and she barely had time to spend with her kids. Hikari didn’t even call her Mama, just Uravity because that’s what she saw on T.V. Izuku has been working on it with her, but no luck. Today was Sunday and she wanted to hug her kids more than anything, but for now, she would have to settle for a video call. Lately, she's had to settle on a lot of things.
“Uravity? You’re supposed to be at the agency briefing!” one of her colleagues called out to her from across the break room.
“Briefing? I’m on lunch break and I was about to call my ki-” she tried to protest, but before she knew it she was being dragged out by the will of her colleagues' quirk.
Izuku sat with his kids in front of the T.V which was showing footage of Uravity’s recent save.
“Look, baby, it’s Mama,” he pointed at Ochako hoping Hikari would take notice.
“Uravity!” she giggled enthusiastically.
“Yes Uravity is Mama’s hero name, but you have to call her Mama okay?” They had this conversation about 1000 times already, but she didn’t budge. It didn’t help that Ochako’s agency barely gave her time off to spend with her kids or him. He missed her so goddamn much. He didn't tell her that though, she was busy being a great hero and he was busy feeling sorry for himself.
“Mama is so cool, she’s the best hero. She gets to help save people every day. I want to be just like her!” cheered Toshi causing Izuku to smile. He loved that his son was an Uravity superfan, it reminded him of how he was with All Might back in the day.
“Work hard and you will be a great hero just like Mama.” he patted his son's head, but for some reason, the boy looked dismayed. “What's wrong?” he got on his knees to meet his son’s eye level.
“Nothing. Mama and Shou-chan said I’m not allowed to say.” admitted the boys who focused his attention on the ground. This caused Izuku to let out a deep sigh. People had been very cautious around him since the incident.
“First of all can’t you call him Oji-san and second of all what are you not allowed to say.” the little boy contemplated what to do, but ultimately gave in. Toshi was awful at lying to him.
“Well, I don’t have my quirk yet and I know you don’t have a quirk Papa so I asked Shou-chan if I wouldn’t get one.” Toshi bit his lip and looked down at the ground guiltily. Deku had been thinking the same thing recently, but he had no idea his friend had warned his son about it. Both Ochacko and Shouto knew about One for All and even before he lost his quirk, there was a chance that Toshi wouldn’t get a quirk based on genetics.
“What did he tell you?” Izuku smiled softly at him which prompted the boy to keep going.
“Well, he said there was a chance that I wouldn’t, but he had a feeling I would have a quirk. He also told me not to bring it up in front of you because you’d get sad. I asked Mama and she agreed.” there it was, his wife and best friend thought they were protecting him. He appreciated how much they cared, but hated that even Toshi was walking on eggshells around him.
“Well you’re only five and most quirks come in between 4-6 so let’s see what happens. Don’t worry about me. I'm not going to feel sad if you talk about quirks. Papa wants to know what’s on your mind okay? Besides, even without a quirk, there are plenty of jobs that can help make a difference.” He patted his son on the head once more to comfort him.
“But Papa? Why don’t you have a job then?” and there it was, the question that plagued him at night. It had been two years since the incident and he still wasn’t able to get past his dreams. He knew it was time to move on, but he just couldn’t. It felt like all his time spent at UA and with All Might had been for nothing. Recently he had been hiding pamphlets for different police academies from Ochako. He wanted to do it, but he was scared to enroll. It would be saying goodbye to a chapter in his life and talking to Ochako about it would make it suddenly feel too real.
“Well then I couldn’t see you all the time then silly,” he started tickling Toshi in his attempt to avoid giving a real answer. He loves his kids and staying home with them, but he wanted more.
“Welcome Uravity,” greeted Ochako's supervisor as she sat down in the meeting room. Her agency was a big one and managed quite a few pro heroes, but this room only had about 7 of them. She scanned the room to see if she knew anyone and found Shinsou looking at her. He had some of the best saves of their agency, but he had to keep out of the public eye due to the nature of his quirk.
“Sorry I’m late, I didn’t realize we had a briefing today.” she apologized and took a seat. She felt her phone buzz a couple of times but did her best to ignore it.
“It’s fine, you are our star after all. Rumor has it you might make top ten at Japan’s next hero ranking. We need to make sure you get as many saves as possible before then. You’ll have to log more hours from now on.” the older lady smiled at her.
“But those rankings aren’t for another 3 months and I already have such a long work week.” protested Ochako. She had to work 12 hours a day already, she didn’t want to have to be away from her kids anymore. She felt her phone buzz a few more times and was almost certain it was Deku.
“It takes sacrifice to become a top hero Uravity and you’re so close. What are another three months?”
“I know and I’m thankful for everyone’s support, it’s just that I have kids and I can’t-”
“Don’t you have a jobless husband that takes care of them?” her supervisor said so bluntly that it made Ochako angry. She looked over at Shinsou who also seemed to wince at the comment. She hated the hate her husband got after the incident. Many of his “fans” called him weak or made fun of his quirkless status. Sometimes she hated how public heroes had to be.
“Please, my husband does a lot for our kids as it is, but I still want to be there for them. I am their mother after all,” Ochako explained as her phone continued to buzz. She wished Deku understood that she wasn’t picking up because she was busy. After continued buzzing, her supervisor’s attention was directed towards her pocket where her phone was.
“Need to take that? Sounds important.” the older woman was annoyed and she knew it, but she stepped out to take the call.
“God Izuku this better be important! I’m really busy right now,” she grunted in frustration at the loading video screen. Only when the video screen loaded it was Toshi on the other end.
“Sorry Mama, I didn’t mean to bother you.” Toshi looked terrified when he saw her.
“Oh no baby, I’m not mad at you. Where’s Papa?” she hated that she just yelled at her son for trying to talk to her. She hated this entire situation.
“He’s giving Hikari a bath. I’m sorry Mama, I just wanted to call you so I took Papa’s phone.”
She breathed a deep sigh. “That’s okay Toshi, I’m really busy right now, but we can play hero when I get home okay?” she smiled at her son through the phone. More than anything she wanted to hold him.
“Will you be home for dinner today Mama?” he looked hopeful and she wished she could say yes, but she knew better than to get his hopes up.
“Toshi what are you doing?” she heard Deku say off-screen which caused Toshi to end the call immediately. Part of her was relieved because she had to go to work, but a part of her was angry with him for taking her son away from her. It was moments like this that made her jealous. He got to be there for them every moment of the day. Hikari was such a Daddy’s girl and would get fussy anytime Deku wasn’t in the room. Even Toshi who seemed to worship Uravity still didn’t come to her when he was having nightmares or wanted to build legos. Lately, she didn’t feel like a mother and she hated it.
Izuku knew Toshi missed his mother and he couldn’t blame him. Still, Ochako and he had an unwritten agreement that they had to wait for her call. Too many times did Deku call her during inopportune times. Now, unless it was an emergency he waited for her to call.
“Sorry Papa,” Toshi said, giving him his phone back. Deku thought about scolding him for taking his phone, but looking at his solemn expression he knew better.
“What’s wrong pal?”
“I miss Mama, she’s never home anymore.” his son began to tear up. He pulled Toshi in for a hug, but Deku knew nothing he could say would change that fact.
“I know Toshi, I miss her too.” Izuku knew that the kids needed some more time with Ochako, but her work schedule was so crazy. She was saving lives and he needed to support her. She had to get out there and defend Japan against some crazy villains and disasters. Not only that but as a popular hero, she had multiple press and publicity events she had to attend to as well. She crossed paths with many of their classmates from UA at them. Izuku couldn’t help but be jealous sometimes. He loved spending time with his kids, but he missed the social events and camaraderie of being a UA alum. He also wanted to get out there and do something important like Ochako, but lately, it felt like he had to hide from the public. He also wondered if Ochako was embarrassed to be with him sometimes. He knew this was not the marriage she signed up for. It was time he got out of his bubble and put himself out there again. The only question was 'how?'.

Random Quirkless Pro Hero Deku facts
- Pro Hero Izuku has a lot of weaponry on him at all times but he’s personally a big fan of knives. He’s usually got at least 5 or 6 on him at all times in all different sizes. He likes them because they’re multi-use, intimidating and, in the hands of a skilled wielder (like Izuku definitely is) can end fights without permanent damage. His favorite knife is the one he stole off of Stain to Iida’s dismay but its just a really good knife okay, Tenya, nothing personal.
- Todoroki is rescue hero working at Froppy’s agency in Nara (kind of the middle of nowhere). He doesn’t really get involved in the big villain battles unless he’s caught up in them, does no marketing for himself, rarely takes interviews, does his best to just be another hero... and yet he’s #20 in the charts. He is the highest ranked rescue hero who goes out of his way to avoid the spotlight and he doesn’t know why he’s so highly ranked. This is because he doesn’t understand the overwhelming power of THIRSTY fans.
- Izuku and Katsuki have a very special relationship. They read each other so well, are a well-oiled, scarily efficient team in battle. Outside of that, they’re disasters. Due to past experiences with ‘friendly spars’ that have gotten out of control they need a minimum of 2 babysitters pro heroes to spot them and be in a qualified facility before they go at it (which they don’t always do). Most every time they meet up they’ve got to rough house a bit to everyone’s horror. Bakugou will get loud and indignant if you call them friends but then rant for 30 minutes on why Deku is one of the best damn heroes he’s ever known.
- Speaking of which, on an operations level Izuku and Katsuki are much better separated than partnered. Kiri much more approachable and adds a sense of balance to Bakugou which is why he’s #1 not long after Izuku leaves. Izuku/Katsuki together were terrifying but a little bit too chaotic? They egged each other on where Kiri calms Bakugou down and Izuku forced to be “in charge” (as composed to constantly competing with Bakugou) of others also makes him less reckless. They’re still a brutally efficient combo but they’ve both agreed that separation really helped them grow.
- Gran Torino went senile not long after Izuku graduated Yuuei having fulfilled his promise to both Nana and Toshi and couldn’t fight any more. Izuku took care of him the best he can and put the old hero up in a luxurious old age home, he visited once a week watching more and more of his mentor slip away. He died when Izuku was still working at Two Hero with Bakugou and it was one of his incentives for leaving the agency and forming One For All.
- Shinsou ended up in the Hero course during their second year, but he went to 1B. Still maintained a good relationship with Izuku and the 1C gang. After graduation, he was surprised when Yaoyorozu offered him a position at her agency. He works there mainly in intelligence gathering, interrogation and general agency management. He still does field work but not nearly to the extent of other heroes.
- Shinsou and Izuku are the lowest ranked in their grade, Shinsou being in the 90s while Izuku is in the high 70s. Izuku will never let his friend forget that he, quirkless and hated by the system, is higher ranked than Shinsou. Its really because Shinsou is kind of a reclusive hero only known because he works at such a prestigious agency. If and when Shinsou decides to make an effort at his popularity it’s all over for Izuku. Until then, Izuku will lord it over him.
- As for the 1C gang, Patrick moved back to America right after graduation. He’s doing odds and ends, still trying to figure out what he wants to do. Does frequent calls/visits to Japan to visit his high school friends. Korudo did end up working his father’s company but on his own terms, donates a lot to Izuku’s AFO foundation. Izuku probably sees Taketsu the most, she’s a quirk lawyer and works with Izuku professionally in terms of quirk advocacy and advancement.
- Hero Names: Bakugou - Kacchan, Todoroki - stays as Shouto, Aoyoma - Lumiere, Shinsou - Hypnos
- As soon as he graduated, Izuku moved into All Might’s old apartment because he couldn’t stand to sell it. He left it almost identical only converting the back study and pretty much living out of boxes the first few years. He’s very, very slowly taking down All Might’s things and putting up his own but each change involves a lot of struggle and crying, but it feels like healing. In addition, Toshi was able to change his will before dying so Izuku inherited an insane amount of money from All Might’s estate. He couldn’t spend it all in his lifetime if he tried. He mostly keeps it away but donates a lot of it to AFO and other charities.
- Deku is a fan favorite as far submissive ships go. In every fan pairing he’s put in (and there are some wild one out there) he is the delicate, submissive quirkless partner. When asked on it, 1A just comments “have you ever actually seen Deku??” still the trope persists. Popular fan pairings are Bakudeku, Shoudeku, Iideku and Uradeku.
- The Class has varying ways of referring to one another, most of them feel comfortable calling each other by their first names but almost all continue to call Iida by his surname (except Ochako and Izuku when he’s feeling annoyed/sappy). Izuku and Katsuki have a whole language of names within the names they call each other, all you should know is that if you hear Izuku say “Bakugou” or Katsuki “Izu-chan” you better run like hell.
- Midoriya Hisashi was officially killed halfway through Izuku’s Third Year in a villian attack at his office in America. Inko was distraught but Izuku really couldn’t bring himself to mourn a man he never knew (and was already exhausted still grieving for All Might). Inko and Izuku got a sizable payout from it, ensuring Inko will be able to live comfortably for the rest of her life. Izuku never touched the money, relying first on All Might’s money then his own when he had to. ((Most people know I’m pretty ham for DFO so let me say this, on paper “Midoriya Hisashi” was killed it’s up to you if someone else is still around)
- While OFA doesn’t have any permanent staff, it does have heroes who frequently work there. It started this way because Izuku couldn’t get any heroes to permanently attach and kept it up once he realized the versatility it gave him. Shouto and Uravity usually do at least one or two stints a year. Pretty much all of the unattached heroes of 1A have worked with Deku multiple times (even a few attached, Ingenium surprising everyone by leaving his agency for a month to work with his old friend). Lemillion does it when his schedule allows and a few veteran heroes like Present Mic and Cementoss have done work there as well. And while Number One Kacchan hasn’t officially worked at One For All, he and Red Riot partner do enough inter-agency work that they kind of have.
- Over the years OFA acquired the respect of many heroes but there’s still assholes who refuse to take orders from a quirkless man. Now officially Deku has no problems with those who do not wish to work with him, it’s well within their rights. However, he’ll usually slyly make it known that people have turned down offers from him or spoke against him. And suddenly those bigoted heroes find they’re getting less support from those connected to Deku (a number that grows bigger by the year). There are less team-ups, less chance of being voted for hero titles, more whispers about how a hero being quirkist in this age is so old-fashioned and not cool. The heroes are like ??? how the hell did this happen while Deku sits there and smiles, not having lifted a finger. He’s a kind man but a vindictive one for sure.
- Izuku named his foundation after All For One, the villain who terrorized Japan and ultimately killed All Might, purely out of spite. While Izuku never confronted him in this universe, he knows the villain is still out there. The AFO Foundation took a name that was once feared and turned it into something that could bring people hope. He wanted to tell all the wannabe criminals who would recognize the name that Izuku knows and he’s not afraid. Also he still considers it his duty as AM’s successor to stop him so the Foundation is two middle fingers up to AFO as a challenge.
- Rikimaru-shishou (Izuku and later Shinsou’s martial arts teacher in TLWA) has mostly retired from teaching, only taking a few students here and there. Izuku still keeps in contact when possible, meeting up for a friendly spar when he can squeeze it in. Most of the students Daiki takes these days are kids Izuku recommends with puppy dog eyes.
-Mirio and Izuku end up developing a pretty good relationship. It starts when Izuku tries to intern with Nighteye in his first year and it’s pretty ugly. Nighteye refuses to take him but some, not all, of the Izuku/OFA/Mirio situation comes out. Mirio is very disturbed that his mentor was grooming him to be All Might 2 and kind of separates from Sir and takes Izuku’s side. Really excited by Deku’s vision for a better hero society and they have a big/lil brother relationship. Is super okay when Izuku takes the SoP title from him, like Izuku not bothered with rankings but he knows how important it is to his bro.
- So good news first, Mirio and Tamaki are long term partners and adopt a little girl, Koharu, who has a ‘villainous’ quirk and was abandoned by her family. Mirio being on paternity leave is one of the factors that allows Izuku to take the SoP away from him. So uh bad news, Eri was never recovered during TLWA version of the Overhaul arc. Don’t ask me exact details cause I don’t know lol but Izuku wasn’t really involved and Overhaul and few of his men managed to flee Japan with Eri and haven’t been found since. Mirio and Tamaki both took the loss to heart which is why they wanted to try and pay back that mistake. They’re both great dads though.
- Due to being so outrageously busy during their first year as Pros, Bakugou forgot to maintain a regular haircut schedule so it started to grow out. Izuku and some others commented that the longer hair looked good on him. It got to the point where it was getting in the way so he ties it back in a little tail that looks like a little explosion. That, and his permanent facial scruff, make him a very attractive hero but his personality still leaves a lot to be desired.
#fic: the long way around#fic: rise up and hear the bells#idk why Im keeping this#hopefully this fills in a few holes#and creates some new ones lol#quirkless deku

with this soul that once believed it all was meaningless, i won't stop
For @tododeku-week! Day 1: Determination. This is the first time I’m participating in a ship week. (I was this close to writing an Endgame AU, but then I realized I didn’t want to hurt myself.) I made a weird Spy AU where UA is some sort of spy agency lol. I hope I did okay!
You can also see this on AO3. ^_^

"Memories warm you up from the inside. But they also tear you apart." ― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
-
The door creaks as it opens, revealing a broad figure and the glint of eye wear. Even still, the figure on the couch doesn’t move from where they sit.
Tenya enters the room, quietly closing the door behind him, his footsteps rather incongruous to his large frame. He stops a few feet away from the man on the couch. Though he has not given any response to his entrance, Tenya knows he is fully aware of his presence.
These days, even the lightest wind can wake them up.
“Midoriya-kun,” Tenya calls.
Midoriya doesn’t move from his position, his front facing the fireplace burning before him. After a few moments of silence, he speaks. “Did you know we were thinking about adopting a kid?”
Tenya did not know. At the time, he was with Uraraka, tailing a suspected traitor in China. He hadn’t heard from Midoriya for weeks, but that was par for the course; it was unprofessional to let personal life get in the way of a mission, and Midoriya stood by that as well. But part of him still thinks what if? What if he brought his phone with him? What if he let Asui take the traitor case with Uraraka instead? What if he was here back then?
Would that have changed things?
Midoriya’s voice is low, perhaps even mellow to the ignorant. But Tenya knows Midoriya Izuku, and he is a man who is always dynamic, always fearless—the man who is known to smile at the face of danger.
But this man, who sits alone in this empty home, staring into a burning hearth but feeling no warmth—this is Midoriya Izuku nowadays: solemn, melancholy, closed-off. Hurting.
Tenya can only feel his heart break all over again for his friend.
He met Midoriya on his first day at UA, as is the same with all of his friends. They are a tight-knit group, an anomaly among other classes. After all, it is the height of folly to trust people who are currently training to become spies. UA may be known by the inner circle as the most reputed of all government spy agencies, but even then they are an agency built—quite literally—on lies.
Perhaps, in a different world, that would have been their reality, where the closest relationship they could have with each other consists of wary respect and a hidden revolver. But when hordes of criminals try to kill you and your fellow trainees only a few days in the academy in an attempt to bring attention to their secret society, spies in training they may be, they couldn’t help but bond over their near-death experience when they have no one else to turn to.
Even then, Midoriya was a beacon, pure even in the face of deceit, loyal even to the detriment of himself. Many times, Tenya has heard people call him foolish; that his weak heart would only get himself killed. But his very earnestness is his weapon—his analytical mind sharp in this game of truth and lies.
Tenya remembers asking the same question in the middle of the night, back when he found Midoriya Izuku to be an utter mystery. There, in the quiet of the infirmary room where Midoriya laid to rest after a mission gone wrong, Tenya felt the words of reproach burst from his lips. After all, Midoriya just took a knife in his place—a wound that should have been Tenya’s after his rash decision to confront his brother’s killer.
“If I didn’t trust anyone,” he said, his eyes shining in the dark—not blinded by naiveté like Tenya thought, but filled with determination, belief and hope. “If I couldn’t bring myself to trust the people who I’m around on a daily basis, what kind of life would I be leading then? If I couldn’t help the people I’m with, how can I help the strangers who need it?”
That day, Tenya learned the value of trust from the man he now calls his closest friend, a brother he never would have found had he been too stubborn. Time and again, Midoriya has saved Tenya, be it from danger or even Tenya himself. He has taught him how to live, how to love—how to always choose the path of righteousness.
Now, he has a chance to repay his friend, even if just a little bit. For once, he will be his friend’s guiding light.
So Tenya steels himself and gives Midoriya his news.
“We found Shouto.”
Sometimes at night, when he lies in bed waiting for sleep to come, Izuku can almost feel Shouto’s body next to him.
“Izuku,” he would whisper softly, looking at him with a tiny smile on his handsome face as if he was sharing a particularly treasured secret. Shouto always preferred to sleep facing him. In one drunken episode, where everything was raw and vulnerable and real, he said that it was to make sure Izuku was still beside him.
He wonders if Shouto still seeks his warmth the way Izuku does for Shouto’s.
It’s been a month of silence. A month since Izuku last saw his husband, walking out the door for a quick grocery run in a rare day off for the two of them; a month since Shouto was taken from him.
Most people would have already given up, choosing to close the book and bury it along with the body that’s not there. After all, in their line of work, not everyone gets to retire voluntarily.
But Izuku isn’t most people. Even if the world is to crumble—right here, right now—Izuku would still find a way to believe that the sun will rise again. Not because of misplaced ignorance or forced conviction, but because there is always hope to be found even in the most desolate places.
Izuku has learned from a very young age, back when he was just a tiny, sickly kid with too big dreams, to never give up hope. Even when the world spat on his dreams and called him worthless, he never stopped believing.
These days, Izuku can only thank his lucky stars for his stubborn streak, even if the weight of his past will always and forever be a stark reminder of how cruel and miserable the world can be. If he gave up hope, he would never have gotten where he is right now. He would have lived his life in regret, thinking of what-could-have-beens and what-ifs. He would never have made connections with these people so close to his heart. He would never have met the love of his life.
But sometimes, even Izuku gets tired. He would never give up hope, because Shouto doesn’t deserve that. But sometimes he just wants to lay down and remember—the way Shouto doesn’t put sugar or milk in his coffee, the way his skin feels under the moonlight, the way he wakes up with his hair somehow more unruly than Izuku’s chaotic curls. In those moments especially, Izuku would yearn for his husband; he would long for the missing part of his heart.
Then, in the wake of his memories of better days, Izuku will find the strength to keep going, to keep searching for his husband.
And now it has finally borne fruit.
Dressed for war in a black and white ensemble, Izuku perfectly recreates the image of a waiter. Plain, simple and easy to overlook. Tonight, he dons the face of Ito Kiriya, a college student moonlighting as a waiter for a catering service. Gone are his trademark green hair and eyes; now replaced with black and dark brown. His freckles has been erased with makeup, nothing too heavy that it will draw unnecessary attention. Izuku is no longer a respectable spy, but an exhausted kid who is thinking about upcoming deadlines.
For a moment, Izuku closes his eyes and remembers to hope. Whatever happens tonight, he will never give up hope. He will never give up on Shouto.
Iida steps beside him, clad in an elegant black suit and without his glasses. His role is an assistant who was forced to accompany his boss in the hopes that she won’t get too drunk in front of important associates. After all, the stakes are high here.
“This will work, Midoriya,” Iida says, shoulders straight and firm in his belief. “We will take him back.”
He can only nod, his mind as clear as it’s always been on the job. He knows they have back-up, their friends either infiltrating the party as well or waiting in the sidelines for support. This is not an agency-sanctioned mission, but he knows full well that they have the agency’s full support.
Izuku clenches his fist. It’s now or never.
It’s time to infiltrate the Todoroki estate and bring Shouto home.

Family
I may have favoritism oops.
tw: mention of abuse/implied neglect, resentment, happy ending though
-
Shouto sat on Thomas’ roof, staring at the sun setting. The colors had changed just a few minutes earlier, now staring a purple and pink sky. He could hear the laughter and banters, could feel the happiness radiating from there, wanted to leave and never come, wanted to just cry alone. He wasn’t even paying attention to his setting, he didn’t hear someone sitting next to him.
“Why the tears?”
Shouto snaps and looks to his left, letting out a breath as he stopped himself from his quirk. It was just the goth looking American. Virgil was his name. He remembers but Virgil said and touched his cheek, sighing as he felt it wet. Tears.
“No reason.”
“Bullshit.”
Shouto glares at him, but Virgil says nothing else and lays down, scrolling through his phone.
“Talk when ready,” Virgil gives a lazy thumb up and goes back to scrolling.
Shouto and Virgil stayed silent longer, Shouto clenching his hands into fists. Memories he had tried hard to repress were flooding in suddenly, pain he had long forgotten, the feeling of weakness and helplessness.
“I hate my old man.”
Virgil looks at him and raises an eyebrow. He remembers hearing Patton vaguely mention it and nothing else. He sits up on his elbows and nods at Shouto.
“Go on.”
“He’s the reason I can’t connect with others. He’s the reason my mother is locked up in a hospital. He’s the reason I don’t know my siblings and I lost one of them,” He grits his teeth, tears threatening to come out, “The only thing I can thank him for is for making me and not having to worry about money. Other than that, he’s nothing but a sperm donor and a bastard father! I could give a shit that’s he’s the number one hero, because the people don’t know who he truly is! I shouldn’t even have to thank him for anything!”
“How long have you been holding onto this?”
“Since before my training,” Shouto wipes away his tears, “I could hear how he treated my older brother. I only know of his name.”
“Todoro-“
“Shouto,” He says softly and looks down at his lap, “that’s my name.”
“Shouto,” Virgil starts off and is now sitting next to him, “Like you said yourself, he’s nothing but a sperm donor. He’s nothing but a monster who abused you and your family. I wish I could find the correct words to comfort you, but I hope you letting out your frustration to me helped,” He places a hand on his shoulder, feeling him tense and then removed it, “One more thing: It is up to you what you want to do with your future. You’ve probably heard it before, but just because he’s your father you don’t have to recognize him as such.”
“That would be disrespectful and shameful,” He whispers and stares off to the distance, “It may be different for you Americans, but family is a big issue for us. We’re supposed to united, connected.”
“Do you feel so with yours?”
“Only my mom and siblings,” A small smile tugged on his lips as he thought of them, “I feel more connected with them.”
“Then that’s your family. Also, family doesn’t have to be blood related,” Virgil ruffles his hair, earning him a groan and made him laugh, “I learned that from Patton. He may be a lot sometimes, but at the end he learns and respects us. Why do you think I call him pops at times?”
“He sure is better than my father,” Shouto chuckles and looks at Virgil. They both weren’t known for their physical affection, mostly Shouto, both touched starved and not knowing how to react when touched. However, Shouto hugged Virgil which made him Yelp then relax. Virgil patted his back and chuckles.
“Do you feel better?” Virgil asks quietly.
“I do. I feel better,” Shouto nods and gives a small smile, “Thank you.”
“These feelings will return, hell, I sometimes get them and look at the family I have. We started off on a bad foot, but we’ve gotten better. But the feelings usually never go away,” Virgil hums as he hears the others laughter, “But you have your own family separated from your sperm donor. Also, I think you created one with the other troublemakers.”
“Todoroki?! Where are you?!”
“And with Mr. I need sleep and hate my kids but I will kill anyone who hurts them,” Virgil laughs as he sees the teacher outside frantically.
“Aizawa-Sensei sure is something else,” Shouto chuckles and feels lighter, wiping away the last of his tears.
They both sat in more silence, hearing sniffling. They both tense and turn around, seeing Izuku taking pictures while also crying. He notices them looking and runs off. Virgil rolls his eyes and helps Shouto off the roof, going back inside where they were playing games.
Shouto scanned the room and saw smiles, heard laughter, felt excitement, joy and free, smelled the fresh food and treats made. He was dragged away by Izuku, towards where they were playing Monopoly. He looks down and huffs, a small smile on his lips.
Yeah. This was his family.

Author is preparing deku to him understanding Shigaraki & characters who are parallel with Shigaraki
did you notice shigaraki is a parallel with the characters who saved by deku or close to deku
like everything is for deku s understanding shigaraki better.
similarities between shigaraki and other characters
1-KOTA
kid who lost his family at young age and who hate society because of that
2- ERİ
Both have light blue hair (almost same hair) and red eyes.
Both have uncommon Quirks, and both accidentally used said Quirks to kill members of their own families.
Both are connected to villain organizations, Tomura as the current leader of the League of Villains and Eri as a Shie Hassaikai hostage.
they were both abused physically and psychologically
3- BAKUGO KATSUKI
-they both can face the reality. baku cant face the fact that he isnt sthe strongest. shiggy cant face the fact that he killed his own family even if its just a accident. thats why they both have explosive personality
-baku got everything he wanted. also shiggy was raised like that too but difference is no one gave shiggy a love and its really horrible if you really think about it.
4-TODOROKİ SHOUTO
- shouto s mom poured boiling water into the face of his own son. maybe he didnt meant to do it. but still, it was the most painfull memory for shouto. this was what made him traumatized
look at shiggy s father s reaction. similar to shouto s mom s reaction. scared and insane. in that scene, there was an aeron. big posibility, he hit his son with that aeron. this case is also explains that shiggy s keep saying "sorry, father” and his wounds on his right eye and his lips. he is blaming himself, this is also what made him traumatized
shouto loved his mom but his hearth was broken when her mom did that. shgaraki loved hs father the most maybe but after his father s reaction...they both needed the person they loved the most but they werent there for them. “the ones we loved the most are the ones who hurts us the most”
-endeavour educated shouto with his own methods. shouto basically lived in a different world from others. he never had friends, he never socialzae with other kids, he never had proper relationship (until the fight with deku). this is why he is so sad at empathize with other people thats why he cant always understand normal situtions cause he is not used to it
shigaraki was also raised/educated like that but with worse version. he never lived as a human. he lived as an outsider from society. did you ever think why afo talked with him with computer without screen? the reason is to prevent him from establishing empathy. shigaraki never had friends and probably never had a relationship, never even had a proper conversaiton with other people. this is why he cant empathize with others. and a lot of things.
5- AFO S BROTHER / FIRST WIELDER OF ONE FOR ALL
-they both were a prisoner of Afo. and their apperances are similar to each others. afo manipulated both of them. and interesting part, deku saw this in his dream. not just this, he also saw how afo manipulated people :)
6- DEKU
they had nothing but then their "savior" came when they lost their path. someone gave them a purpose to live. (well in this case, shigaraki s condition is definitely worse and full of manipulation though). season 1: shigaraki fight the heroes at the first time deku fight the villains at the first time after then, afo: shigaraki tomura, next time, show the world that they need to afraid of you! allmight: midoriya izuku, in spor festival, i want to tell the world "i am here!" season 2: deku lost in spor festival to todoroki. shigaraki lost stain in stain arc. also these panels:
both of them, trying to find their path in season 3:
they both lost their masters/fathers
and now, their turn
season 4: deku vs mirio shigaraki vs overhaul who is a better sucessor. and they proved theirselves
deku is really heroic and such a good hearth but he is very unlucky, like he is cursed. shigaraki is a tragedy character. his life is cursed. they always have hard times in their own way. (i know you think shigaraki is evil but no, he is not.) these both characters have a lot of similarities but at the same time, they are opposite. like shigaraki is "save me", deku is "i will save you". or deku is really selfless but compared to deku, shigaraki is selfish. they both wants completely different things. but actually they have a lot of similiraties too. they both lost childs and trying to find what they want.
they are both gratefull characters. deku always gratefull even when people around him did nothing for him, he is still ok. shigaraki is abandoned child basically but even he is a criminal, he is really gratefull to afo and kurogiri cause he thinks they saved him. (well they did opposite though). in shigaraki s mind, life is something worthless, because of this feeling he cant care other people. but he is being gratefull when someone did something for him. also another similarity, they both deserves better. deku did a lot of good things he deserves every beatifull things in the world, shigaraki is just a so tragic, sad and pitifull character ....., he had too much pain, no one deserves to be in pain, especially this much, so after he pay his crimes, he deserves to be happy too. (also author said that he is like a fairy tail boy, it means shigaraki was really cheerfull kid like deku when he was a kid) blah blah blah. shigaraki is just a kid who lost his hope, deku is like symbole of hope. and blah blah blah. there are other similiraties too, but i am tired so...hopefuly you got me, they are same and different at the same time :) like soulmates.
-also we know deku will have a six quirks. and i believe nana s quirk was decay (cause shigaraki really similar to her and casue of these gloves thing) so in the future, deku wil have too. and again, he will understand shigaraki better than before. like its all for to deku s understanding shigaraki.
-well lets be honest. every character in bnha could be like shigaraki. also, thinnk about all parallels about him. think about how much victim he is. think about what is this story all about. think about deku s heroic soul.
we all know shigaraki would be completely different person if someone saved him just in time, he would be good person big posibility. also eventually deku would learn shigaraki s past or even he knows nothing, he will see shigaraki s pain. then what would deku say? “yeah he was a victim, but now he is criminal and hurting others. its too late” really would deku say “its too late to someone”? i mean really? we are talking about deku right now. come onnnnn. tragic victim always have tragic endings? i mean, we have a main character who can change the future!!!
maybe greatest villain means the most dangerous villain? he most dangerous villain is isnt the most evil, is the one who is in pain the most, i think. also it doesnt mean he wont pay his crimes. he will still pay it, also we have to stop him. and deku and others are learning to “save and win at the same time” then what would happen if the person that you must defeat and save is the same person?! simple. DEFEAT HIM AND SAVE HIM.
also if deku couldnt save shigaraki, would he say “this is the story how i became the greatest hero”? i dont think so. there is no way he could call himself even a “hero”, if he cant save shigaraki. so definitely he should save him cause this is all about. dont believe its too late. NEVER TOO LATE TO SAVE SOMEONE. especially we have a victim like shigaraki, there is no way we can leave him like that cause if we ignore his pain, shigaraki will be abandoned by the world for the second time. so i think he should be saved. i think this is what it should be. of course it wont be easy, but it has to be like this otherwise, honestly i would be really disappointed, my opinion. shigaraki is a blowback of this society and you shouldnt kill/destroy blowback. yeah deku and shigaraki are parallel but you shouldnt kill or destroy your parallel. you should save him. yeah shigaraki will go so far but it woul be best if he could turn be a good person again and pay his crimes while living. it would be millions times better than killing him. cause killing him means all this sad scenes for was just making a drama. also stoppng him doesnt mean we have to kill him and deku wont do something like that. i would perefer shigaraki have redemption arc and have happy ending too even though he became a greatest villain. he deserves it and he has a great potential to be a good person. well its my opinion. i hope it can happen.
there might be somethings i forgot to mention and i didnt notice but for now, thats it sory for my bad eng :P hopefully you got meee

I know you usually don't analyze the quality of writing, I'm not really sure if this question even qualifies as such. So, if you don't mind me asking, what do you think could've been done better in regards to how TG turned out? Or rather what developments would you've liked to see unfold?
Okay, so once again not a commentary on the quality of the writing but I can talk about a few things I would have liked more answers to. This is going to be pertaining to stuff mostly that happened around the ending because that’s the freshest in my mind.
#1 Donato
What does this mean Donato? Literally, what does any of this mean. Do the leaders of the clowns shift? Were you the leader for some time until you were captured by the CCG? Who was the crown, was it the one eyed king? Were there two one eyed kings as some people theorize? Donato you seem to be the only one old enough here do you think you could explain it to us?
Donato’s final speech for his motivations basically just boiled down to something that would not be out of place coming out of Komaeda Nagito’s mouth. “I needed to kill all those people in order to make hope and justice shine all the more!” It’s not that I needed to get into the head of the child eater, but if Ishida was going to make the choice to play this scene as sentimental instead of giving Donato an oppurtunity to rip Amon a new one he could have at least gone with a motivation that... made sense?
Basically the entire Amon and Donato scene is a missed oppurtunity. There was a chance for Seidou and Amon to work together again and for Seidou’s growth to be acknowledged. THere was a chance for Amon to actually have to acknowledge people like Hakatori that he’s made the victims of as well, in person and not just... saying that he totally acknowledges that he’s been screwing up the world too in a moment of tell don’t show.
Amon’s final speech is also peppered with the hypocrisies that a just better written confrontation scene could have solved a lot. For example let’s look at this moment right here.
“Most ghouls are regarded by humans as creatures to be feared” Amon says while recalling the image of a ghoul who was living peacefully until humans went out of their way to hunt him down, then torture him to the point of insanity and kill his brother right in front of him. “Donato Porpora is absolute evil” Amon says, in his big speech about how actually the world is more complicated than he originally thought it was. These two ideas contradict each other, if there are shades of gray then why is Donato still absolutely evil? Is it because he ate children because if that’s the case Amon doesn’t even mention once about the Oggai, or the CCG’s habit of training child soldiers, both of those things which were important to his arc in its conception. The only named Oggai character is Hajime Hazuki who is Amon’s whole reason for going after Fueguchi so hard to the point of grave robbery.
Amon still also approaches the entire scene like he’s merely an observer of ghouls, and not that he’s one himself. All of these things were things that could have been resolved if Ishida used Donato in his original capacity. Just as a character who exists to tear things apart, and especially to do so because of his strange affection for Amon. Play for Amon’s mind and make him stronger so Amon can rise to be a true hero of justice because Amon in particular is Donato’s favorite character. If Donato was going to turn out to be a two dimmensional character anyway then Ishida should have just used him to his full capability. For example you don’t have Emperor Palpatine make an emotional speech when he dies, you have him manipulate the protagonist to move him into action and then he gets thrown down an elevator shaft in the end.
Imagine a confrontation scene where Amon is forced to face all the ugly things about his narrative he conveniently ignores. After facing them he overcomes them, but he actually has to face them, not just reappear after being offscreen for awhile and say he’s totally faced those things and come to those realizations.
It would be using Donato better for his original pruppose as a character, rather than trying to make an emotional scene out of a character motivation that just doesn’t make sense. It would also make Amon’s long stagnation as a character before this make sense as well. Otherwise if the purpose was for Amon to just finish the manga with a big heroic speech about justice, and then defeating Donato by punching him after making his sword bigger why not write Amon actually pursuing justice and self reflecting before this point? The Amon that is written up until this point does not accept who he is, represses it absolutely, and avoids the main plot and confrontation as much as possible. He’s barely onscreen for one, and when he is onscreen he doesn’t make use of any of the information he’s been given before this point. It’s written like Amon is clinging to the vestiges of his past identity and unwilling to admit he was wrong or that he can move on, except then Amon just does and it’s fine. And that didn’t have to be that way, it’s not that everything preceeding it was bad writing but rather the set up does not match the eventual payoff we receive. The character who was written with an arc where he self reflected and grew was Seidou, however the character who was rewarded like they grew and changed in the end was Amon even though Amon is basically just the same character through all of Re:.
Confronting Amon about literally any of this would have been a good move to alleviate a lot of this odd build up and pay off problems, but Donato doesn’t play it like a confrontation he just loses on purpose because of fondness for Amon. Which is fine but also, as I said before the emotions of the scene don’t make any sense at all, nor does Donato’s motivations he sounds like a Dangan Ronpa character so it’s a weird choice around. Not to mention Donato in the end answered none of the questions of his association with the clowns, the previous king, or clarified anything on the timeline which could have been a useful spot for that.
#2 Ui’s Entire Subplot with the Garden
So the garden is an amazing world building idea, but it’s also something that should have been covered far more than it was in canon. The problem with introducing victims like the garden children into canon is that they kind of need their story to be told, just because their problems seem a lot more pressing than everybody else’s but that’s not really the case. The person who knows the most about the garden Furuta, as I jokingly said before we ever got more than a few pieces of his story got killed in a ditch by Kaneki because Kaneki doesn’t care that much about the garden. Which is... weird, because the garden should be a really big deal to anybody who hears about it. “There was human breeding going on, and these children are being forced to be child soldiers for life, and some of them are forcibly raped” you think would rouse most people with the ability to do so to an immediate call to action. If the ending of the story is a more empathic world like Ishida is trying to tell us it is, it’s weird that basically nobody cares about the garden of the children left behind in the garden after Furuta’s Washuu purge.
Not only do we as an audience not get any more information on it in the sixty or so chapters after 101, but also it’s not revealed to any of the other characters besides Kaneki, even those with strong connections to the garden who it seemed like they were building up for a reveal towards, Ui,. We don’t know even what exactly and how much Take told Ui about what Arima’s plan was, and why he defected from the CCG because it’s a conversation that mostly took place offscreen except for a joke line of it that made it into an omake.
So we never get clarification on a bunch of key worldbuilding elements, all of thme having to do with the washuu and the garden, and also the garden children’s story really never gets told, or it’s only told tangentially to Kaneki’s story, and that in itself is a problem because the garden children are such huge victims it kind of necessitates the story be told. They are the literal bottom of the ladder, the lowest rung of society.
It’s like “Why do people have a problem with Endeavor’s Redemption Arc in MHA?” and it’s not really the concept of an abuser getting a redemption arc in general, but rather that Endeavor’s perspective is being favored over his victim’s. Endeavor gets five times more screentime than Rei, his primary victim and we never see her chance of healing, or her chance to redeem herself as a mother to Shouto. Endeavor’s emotions and thoughts take precedent, but at the same time Endeavor’s not a victim to anything but his own bruised ego and hurt man feelings, so his story is a lot less narratively interesting to read.
When you set up victims like this, it’s good to have their story be told. But we really only get to see them from an outsider’s point of view. Matsuri, one of the oppressors of the garden children gets a much happier ending than most garden children, and way more narrative coverage. And I’m not saying Ishida is bad for not telling the garden kid’s story, but rather that it’s such an interesting story it really should have been told rather than hinted at and it seemed so much like the last portion of the manga was building up towards that reveal and we just never got it. Only bits and pieces. Which makes me question why Ishida even introduced it in the first place if he was only ever going to leave it vague when it’s something that requires a lot more explanation than we were given.
On that note what happened to Hairu’s head? Ishida at least told us her revival was impossible, but they had her head and body in preservation. Wouldn’t an Ui who had moved on make sure to at least recover the body and bury it?
Really it seems rather than Hairu was never going to be able to be revived to begin with, Ishida was building towards a revival and changed his mind at some point because a lot of ideas with Ui and Hairu’s plotline were pretty much dropped. What Okahira was referring to here was never explained, and also the kind of revival that Okahira himself experienced was never explained either even though they were given a brief mention in the epilogue.
So yeah, the garden kids are kind of a big black spot. Especially since there are more garden kids being made into half ghouls by the CCG’s mad science (sorry the TSC) and nobody seems to see anything wrong with that.
Especially since the TSC apparently made no effort to actually help the shortened lifespan of either of the garden kids until they stopped being effective soldiers.
Just any kind of coverage on whether their lives are better or worse since the Washuu were purged, because it kind of just sounds like they’re being used exactly the same way the Washuu used them.

on references to greek mythology and buddhism in boku no hero academia along with other mythological references
all for one he has a hades motif Much like him, no one dares to speak his name, so they only refer to him as euphemisms, (in this case, "All For One" and "Sensei"), he is heavily associated with death, with Midoriya saying that being near him is like being near death and after arrested, he is now staying in a place called Tartarus.
Gigantomachia a reference To the Giants of greek Mythology. Similar to them he is a gigantic humanoid being and his name is the name given to the battle between the Giants and the Olympian gods
hawks to icarus
Icarus was a guy who grew cocky despite his father's warnings and flew too high, resulting in his wings burning and him falling to his death. Hawks has wings, seems rather arrogant/brash, and ascended incredibly quickly in the hero rankings.
Hawks is now working with Endeavor who could easily represent the sun, and there's reason to suspect Dabi, another fire user, will be involved in this arc.
There's also that panel of him flying up with a bright light shining behind him, which others have already noted looks like a Icarus reference.
hawk is connected to Icarus. A young, arrogant and talented Teen Genius with large wings. This is lightly alluded to in a shot of him spreading his wings close to a light source, being that Icarus is better known for flying to close to the sun.
He also mentions that his flight is compromised the more feathers he uses, similar to how Icarus died when his when lost too many feathers and he plummeted to his death. Becomes less subtle when he sends his feathers to a grievously injured Endeavor while the latter is fighting High-End, giving him literally flaming wings.
. plus the whole line about hawks going too fast reminds me of icarus going too high hawks rose to great heights to quickly
hawks also mentions that his flight is compromised the more feathers he uses, similar to how Icarus died when his when lost too many feathers and he plummeted to his death.
lbwings . tumblr . com/post/176325008443/why-this-is-bad
I was worried since Hawks was introduced and pulled his stunt of flying up by the lights; a total Icarus move. The only confirmation I needed on him being screwed is if his wings were RED.
This is bad because I am an old enough US comic book reader to know of a character named Joshua Guthrie codename Icarus. (Marvel) Who lookie lookie- Had big red wings-
Lets just say that things did not go well for Mr.Guthrie. He lost his wings (cut off), his healing ability, was used by a ‘nice talking’ enemy and getting his friends/team slaughtered. All before getting killed himself.
I know how much our lovely BNHA creator loves US comics so I was worried when I remembered Mr.Guthrie.

todoroki touya as a reference to greek mythology
so the most recent leaks for the kanji for touya are 燈矢 - light and arrow.
dabi-todobroki . tumblr . com/post/181189168456/dabi-and-touya-names
“
Dabi is written as 荼毘 (だび) which, when plugged into a translator, means cremation. This is the unofficial name of his quirk. However, when separating the kanji’s we get something else. 荼毘 translates to a weed, help, and assist while だび translates to the name David from religious stories. Completely separate, the kanji’s translate as follows: 荼 (a weed), 毘 (help, assist **this also brings up various religious terms**), だ (means to be or is, but it connects with the terms worthless, male, and safe), and び which literally means beautiful, but has connections to illness.
Touya’s name is written as 轟 (とどろき) 燈 (とう) 矢 (や). 轟 (Todoroki) is referencing power, roaring, and fame. 燈 (Tou) is defined popularly as light, but also as eternal flame, and a weed called a sun spunge. 矢 (ya) means arrow Both make several references to weeds and gods/goddesses. “
considering horikoshis use of greek mythology in bnha this could be a reference to apollo, god of light, whose main weapon is, you guessed it, the bow and arrow.
apollo, also the god of the sun, drives the sun chariot across the sky everyday - therefore connecting him to hawks/icarus.
the apollo/touya theory could also hint at how old dabi is - he is the eldest son
and it may be because he’s fuyumi fraternal twin, who would be artemis in this metaphor. her hair’s even white/silver, which is associated with artemis and moonlight!
finally, interesting to note for those hoping for a dabi redemption arc - apollo is also the god of medicine and healing. fingers crossed!
#like apollo is ALSO the god of plague (see: the iliad) so thats a connection to shigaraki
As for the Artemis is Fuyumi part, from what I remember Artemis is (among other things) a goddess of the moon which only appears during the night the coldest part . of the day
“ Fuyumi means winter beauty but if broken up differently could be read as "fu - yumi" or Fire Bow. Touya read straight means Lantern/Lamplight Arrow (basically a flaming arrow)”
to quote @reindeer-games2011
reindeer-games2011 . tumblr . com/post/181818950271/touya-and-fuyumi-can-be-twins
“We’ve already determined that Touya is the oldest son, meaning he’s older than Natsuo and Shouto. In the card, it lists the siblings from oldest to youngest as Touya, Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shouto. We have ages for everyone else, but not Touya? I think we already have his age, he’s 22 (23 now). But he’s listed first in the card? Yes, but he could be Fuyumi’s older twin. An example of this would be the anime Blue Exorcist (Ao No Exorcist). Rin and Yukio Okumura are twins, but Rin calls Yukio his little brother. They’re twins, but Yukio’s the younger twin. The same could apply to Touya and Fuyumi. They’re twins, but Touya was born first.”
Shi Hassaikai as a whole based off of a subversion of buddhism specifically its Eightfold Path, with Chisaki acting as a Buddha analog. and chisaki and the eight expendables are a corruption of the buddha and the eight precepts
the eight expendables
They seem to be themed after the Eight Precepts of Buddhism. Rappa's bloodthirstiness is a violation of the first precept, which forbids causing harm and taking lives. (Subversion: Of the first precept of Buddhism's Eightfold Path, "I will abstain from being harmful to living beings." ) Setsuno, whose Quirk lets him teleport small objects into his hands, violates the second precept, which forbids theft and willfully misplacing items. (Subversion: Of Buddhism's second precept of its Eightfold Path, "I will abstain from stealing", as his Quirk allows him to steal anything. ) Rikiya Katsukame, whose Quirk is touch-activated and makes some creepy comments about Nejire, violates the third precept, which forbids sexual activity.
(subversion Of Buddhism's seventh precept of its Eightfold Path,"I will abstain from listening or playing music, songs, wearing flowers, jewellery and other ornaments", as his Quirk generates gemstones.) Shin Nemoto, whose uses his Quirk to force people to tell the truth so he can Break Them by Talking, violates the fourth precept, which forbids lies and harmful speech. (Subversion: Of the Fourth Precept of Buddhism's Eightfold Path, "I will abstain from uttering lies" his Quirk makes it nearly impossible to lie to him. ) Deidoro, the alcoholic, violates the fifth precept, which decrees abstinence from alcohol. (Subversion: Of the fifth Buddhist precept of the Eightfold Path, "I will refrain from intoxicating drinks and drugs which lead to carelessness". ) Tabe, a glutton whose Quirk lets him eat anything, violates the sixth precept, which forbids eating outside the appointed times. (Subversion: Of Buddishm's sixth precept of its eightfold path, "I will abstain from eating after noon time", due to his Extreme Omnivore tendencies. ) Hojo, whose Quirk lets him generate crystals on his body, violates the seventh precept, which forbids wearing luxuries like cosmetics and jewelry. Tengai, whose Quirk generates an impenetrable shield, violates the eighth precept, which forbids resting in luxurious comfort. (Subversion: Of the Eighth Precept of Buddhism's Eightfold Path, "I will refrain from lining or seating on high and luxurious places"— his Quirk create a near-indestructable barrier, somewhere where one can essentially take shelter during harsh circumstances. )
Meti『Not The Bad Guy』 goes into chisaki being a corruption of the buddha in his video the beauty of kai chisaki/overhaul
the guy goes into it chisaki is a corruption of the buddha references and he also brings up the eight expendables reference to eight precepts starting at 9:30 bringing up things I didnt mention in relation to their quirkand kanji of their name then he so just check out the vid for the part about how chisaki is a buddha analogy
youtube
ibara shiozaki is a reference to jesus her being a devout christian and Quirk is likely a reference to Jesus Christ and the 'crown of thorns' that was placed on his head. she even has a sort of crown of thorns This is also referenced in her hero name Maria, a reference to the latin name for the the Virgin Mary.
Her birthday is September 8, which is also the birthday of Virgin Mary.
Her Hero Costume consists of a plain white robe, which looks similar to the one worn by Jesus Christ.
and the name of her attacks
Via Dolorosa is the latin reference for the path by which jesus walked on his way to crucifixion.
plus there are her lines "Passing Judgement" "scheming sinners more religious allusions
and her referring to gevaudan as the beast of revelation/apocalypse
Theres also uses of Shintoism in MHA like with Ujiko Daruma I talked about Ujiko in my blog here. “Ujiko” is a word used for a shrine shrine parishioner who is protected by the god they worsip in shorts a worshiper in this case it refers to who ujiko worships All for one who is a god. the kanji 子 means child and 氏 means something along the lines of "related” referencing to how he sees the nomu as his children. Daruma refers to how his head looks like a draruma doll, and how daruma dolls are seen as a good luck charms referring to how his sudden appearance to the League caused a shift in Fortune for them.
Apollo was also the god of oracle and prophecy. Hawks were one of the most connected birds to Apollo and were seen as his messenger.
(and as I said before dabi is a reference to apollo and dabi and hawks have a connection due to hawks role of spying on the league of villains) and I think dabi will be the one to be the sun to hawks icarus given dabi being a reference to apollo
