The crown jewel of Mandroid’s accomplishments (with assistance from the Constructicons) is the GigaZarak, a MetroTitan sized Arachnamec built by studying Cybertronian biology and mythology. GigaZarak is a great destroyer from Cybertronian legend feared by Autobots, but revered by the most battle hungry Decepticons.

Replacing the Howl’s Moving Castle mecha, this is the ultimate weapon used against the Earthbound Transformers referencing the Zazorigun fight in Goldran.

To change up Mandroid’s origins beyond loosing his arm, he also tragically lost his eldest son and wife during the Great War, with his youngest son Ethan surviving but loosing his leg. Ethan looks up to the Autobots, but has mixed feelings about Megatron working with GHOST, but he at least acknowledges Megatron’s trying to do good. During most of the first season, Ethan is recuperating at the hospital, getting accustomed to his prosthetic. Mandroid almost kills his own son by accident when he stages an attack against the Autobots using Devastator & Scorpulator, the lumbering Combiner accidentally damaging the hospital Ethan is staying in. Mandroid, in his fracturing state of mind, blames the Autobots for his blunder, making the situation palpable for himself.

After GigaZarak is defeated, it was taken into custody by Schloder who had taken control of GHOST, after Mandroid and his sister were incapacitated.

When the Decepticons later raise Terratronus, it’s Ethan who helps protect the town piloting GigaZarak with Grahm and his friends‘ help, alongside the Maltos, Sky Lynx and Devastator.

Ethan is the complete opposite of his father: optimistic, a bit lackadaisical, doesn’t hold a grudge, & has faith in the Autobots & Terrans. He shares his father’s scientific mind and is a whiz at machines, but lacks the drive to apply himself much. His skills largely come into play helping the Autobots, which he’s more than happy to do, but he longs for something to call his own to distance himself from his increasingly maniacal father. When he’s discharged from the hospital, he shadows the GHOST aligned Autobots to find something that strikes his fancy to make his own path.

He’s fascinated by the Transformers and wishes to know more about them, Cybertron, & their culture much to Optimus, Megatron and Alex’s delight. He becomes friends with the Malto kids and Grahm’s group, though the Maltobots are understandably a bit wary of Ethan, Thrash in particular due to a bad string of luck with the Decepticons.

The Thetacons refer to a movie exclusive faction from the IDW Bayformers comics, where Ironhide was among them. I had been sitting on this as a component of my own ES AU for why Termagax and other GHOST allied Autobots aren’t keen on Megatron. A dark secret that not even Dot knows. It took a more darkly humorous approach than I intended though for this piece. Also yes, Ironhide is dead too because of this, taking advantage of his lack of modern day appearances in-show.

If there is a clip show episode, it could be framed as the characters filling Cosmos in about what's happened over the course of the show.

Lightyear: Avalonia

Hello. I made my first chapter of my first crossover ever Disney and Pixar movie between two LGBTQ animated films Lightyear and Strange World, and it's called "Lightyear: Avalonia". The plot centers around Buzz Lightyear and his Space Ranger Corps of Star Command who plan on a vacation trip to Avalonia as they meet the Clade family. But when Ethan thinks he's having a baby, he has a parasite inside his abdomen. Buzz and his team believe that they could find many ways to destroy the parasite.

- with Diazo, they‘re just hanging out together

How I would Fix Disney's "Strange World", Part 1

All information shared is either paraphrased from the story of Strange World or is my own personal opinion! This is not made to say I am a better writer than those who worked on Strange World, rather me sharing an opinion on what I think would improve the story.

Strange World was a movie that struck me as interesting when I saw the previews, like. a week before it's theatrical (or Disney Plus) release. Then when I decided to sit down and watch it, i managed to get the full story while skipping through it. Spoilers if you care.

Generational trauma father and son, son grows up and is successful in life and love, son is Protag now, Protag faces his barrier preventing his continuation of the status quo, Protag's son gets mad that his father won't put his life at risk.

Protag heads out on his journey, wife shows up, Protag discovers his son and for some reason their dog on the ship, they get attacked (a man is brutally killed and nobody talks about it ever), they end up in the "Strange World" and are of course separated, ship is damaged; Protag meets his father who was assumed dead for 25 years, we find out Protag's son has left the ship to find his father, Protag's son meets Splat - the unofficial mascot for the movie that will likely be a lot of toys - and nearly dies, Protag finds his son, they make a great chase to get back to the ship.

They fix the ship, head out, Protag's son tries to introduce Protag and grandfather to a modern game, "hilarious" argument ensues, (I blank on what exactly happens in this void of time), they cross a sea of acid, get to the main part of the conflict.

Protag and son find out that the thing their home has been this whole time was a giant creature rather than an island, and they've been experiencing it's internal functions attempting to keep it alive from the discovery the Protag made 25 years ago. They both go back to help the creature and put an end to the sapping of the creatures energy, Protag's father tries to go and finish his lifelong goal but then shows up miraculously to save the day, sudden creature death fakeout, then it's all fine. The supposed detrimental loss to the island's only power source is not detrimental at all, the son gets a scene with his same sex crush, and the movie's over.

So. it's something. It all of course keeps on the Generational Trauma train, but it does the lazy version - "I'm not you, Dad, so stop trying to make me be you!" x 2. Couldn't even give the son and Protag a unique conflict, just the same thing as before.

Now, how would I fix it?

I think I would start with the characters. They're not all bad, just off.

Jaegar Clade - Jaegar is a character you AREN'T supposed to like, I would say. He's driven and focused on his journeys, but is entirely selfish and only focuses on his fame. On the surface to everyone else it looks like he's driven to help the people of their home get off the island. However I'd write him to only desire to achieve the one thing that would make him the MOST famous on the island. Maybe he dies, maybe he doesn't. I haven't yet decided. Jaegar is not bothered that he's attempting to force his son into the same profession he loves, when Searcher clearly prefers science and plant-studies.

Searcher Clade - I hate his name and now so does he - after the intro, he goes by Archer. He seems like a down-to-earth guy but is entirely driven by profit, to ensure his family can be comfortable in the future and to keep him at home more often. After finding Pando at 15, the thought of riches and fame got to his head, just like it did his father. Archer's character arc is driven by his son, Ethan, convincing him that the family and the life of the creature they live on is more important than the riches and fame the Clade's already have. When Archer finally comes to terms with the fact that he loves his son and wife more than his fame and riches, he and Ethan work to remove Pando from the creature's heart and succeed without a fake-out death. Archer in the epilogue has used his wealth to aid those on the island to find a smoother transition from Pando energy to natural energy. Archer also supports Ethan and knows that he has a personal passion; he still plans to pass the farm on to Ethan in the future, but makes it clear it's ownership he's passing down, not necessarily the work unless Ethan wants it. Archer WILL NOT try to force Ethan to be something he isn't.

Meridian Clade - I love Meridian, she's very spunky and goofy in the movie. I think it would be cool to have Meridian be one of the top engineers and designers that created a lot of the Pando-powered flying machines. She is fiercely protective of her family, which leads up to her and Archer having a disagreement about Ethan. While Meridian does continue to pilot the ship, she is frustrated that Archer won't listen to her or Ethan, whom she believes when he tells her they're living on a giant creature. She and Archer have a moment in the climax where he apologizes for not listening to his family, those who would never lie to him, and being blinded by wanting something he already had. Meridian doesn't necessarily forgive him, but she says they'll talk more later when lives aren't at stake. They end up patching the cracks caused by their disagreement and are able to return to their lives even happier than before.

Ethan Clade - well-known and popular son of Archer, Ethan is popular in Avalonia and has a large group of "friends," i.e. people who want to be on his good side thinking he'll give them money, and a close-knit group of best friends who both enjoy his company and genuinely like him as he is. Ethan takes a lot after his grandmother Penelope (who those who write the fandom wiki assumes was once an animal tamer, so I'm using that for the rewrite) and is an avid animal lover. He's the one that took in Legend, though Meridian named him and sometimes calls him "Leg End"; Ethan has a lot of animals he cares for on the farm and even in his room. Before they leave to enter the Strange World, Ethan is often busy caring for an injured rodent or a bird of some kind, perhaps even caring for orphaned baby animals of some sort. He is also NOT stupid and does not get upset when his father literally says "I will not risk my son's life." He stows away because he's curious, not because he's rebellious. Ethan is the first to realize the world is an internal ecosystem of a creature, and spends a long portion of the movie trying to convince everyone this world is alive and that keeping it alive is more important than Pando. Ethan and Archer do still find themselves outside the creature, and Archer realizes Ethan wasn't making anything up. He see's the beauty and majesty of the creature and sadly agrees to help Ethan save it. In the Epilogue, we find out Ethan is heading the research efforts of the creature they live on and the care to remove the Pando still hiding away on Avalonia. Also no, I love Legend but he doesn't go to the Strange World.

Callisto Mal - Outwardly, Callisto is a caring individual - she's often among the citizens of Avalonia finding interpersonal issues at the source and trying to fix it however it's necessary; she holds a brief memorial service to the pilot/crew that was killed as they entered the Strange World. However, Callisto is also driven by profits and success, though she's actually antagonistic about it. She actively silences Ethan and convinces Archer that Ethan is lying and making up the story about the creature. She thinks that without Pando, she won't be able to win elections anymore and earn money. Even after Archer and Ethan return from seeing the creature's face/eye, she is willing to kill the internal ecosystem and the two of them as well. Meridian is forced to knock her out to save her family. The crew jumps in to help the Clade's remove the Pando from the creatures heart, and then use their testimonies to prevent Callisto from being re-elected. They can't really have her arrested, but they can cause what she feared would come to pass to do so. The movie ends with her approaching Archer to apologize and offer a hand; Archer, being kinder than before, accepts her help.

With this post getting long, I'll explain the story changes in part 2 in a more concise manner. There are snippets in each character's rewrite, but they're all over the place.

Just watched strange world, it was really fun. I've never seen an environmental message handled so well in a movie before. It's also really funny. I loved all the family dynamics.

The focus was obviously the dads, but I like that they also had little scenes with Ethan and his mom showing how well they get along. Meridian is an amazing mom (also she should get a medal because literally everyone in this movie would have died if she weren't there to pilot the airship, which she admitted that is the biggest airship she's ever seen so like... GIVE THIS WOMAN HER OWN STATUE IN THE TOWN SQUARE TOO PLEASE!!)

The other thing I really appreciate in this is that line Searcher had calling Jaeger a horrible father, when he didn't have to be!! That was amazing to see in a Disney movie and said to a sympathetic character no less. And it's not treated as him going too far and he didn't regret saying it afterwards or anything. I love that. Just because Jaeger wasn't abusive towards his son doesn't make him a good father. Too many stories are asking us to perform mental gymnastics to excuse horrible parents and I'm tired of it. Jaeger isn't the worst parent, but he wasn't a good one either and I'm glad the movie addresses that.

ALSO SPLAT WAS ADORABLE AND HILARIOUS AND I LOVE IT AND I WANT TO SQUISH IT AND HUG IT AND IT'S THE BEST CHARACTER IN THIS MOVIE!!! (and I loved the dog too, he was adorable 🥺🥺)

I’m very adamant EarthSpark needed embrace Transformers’ toyetic nature more, and one way was dabbling in Megatron’s evolution to Galvatron.

In this version of events, Megatron evolves into Galvatron during a critical battle against Megaplex, his Clone that he left in charge on Cybertron when he left for Earth. Endowed by the power of the Cyber Sleeves of the Maltobots and Witwiccans, Megatron inherits the power of Quintus Prime and becomes galvanized, laying the final blow on the major remnant of his darker legacy.

Enraged at Megatron getting the power, Starscream plots to steal the power of a Prime to best Megatron. He sends Chaos Terrans Clickbait and Aftermath to kidnap Mo Malto, Maddie Witwicky and Ethan Meridian as they exhibit the strongest affinity towards the Prime. Together with his team’s personal medic Scalpel, they manage to crack the Cyber Sleeves just enough for Starscream to upgrade into his Super form. It maybe a “sub Prime” compared to Megatron’s “Prime”, but Starscream is confident it’s more than enough to give the Autobots and Megatron a good thrashing. Toward the end of the Adventure, Starscream and his Chaos Terrans/Decepticons fall under the mysterious Dark Nova, but his and the Chaos Terrans’ Quintus energy is drained to power up the Prime of Anti-Life, reverting Starscream into his old shell.

Optimus Prime also is upgraded by the Cyber Sleeves into a Terran form, but I haven’t figured out what that looks like yet.

The final battle against Dark Nova, a former apprentice/Prime to Quintus Prime who fell into the Dead Universe and became the antithesis to Quintus’ life above all else, sees Optimus, Galvatron, Terratronus and Giga Zarak using the combined power of all Terrans (Earth and colony) to vanquish the evil entity.

In this upgraded state, Galvatron has the usual power his G1 self has, but also has advanced nano healing, and a weaker ability to create life similar to Quintus, with Galvatron using this power to raise a new generation of Terrans aboard Terratronus on Earth post Nova.

Cine: Un mundo extraño (2022)

Jaeger Clade (Dennis Quaid) es una leyenda de Avalonia, un explorador que desea que su hijo Searcher (Jake Gyllenhall) siga sus pasos. Ambos emprenden un viaje con el objetivo de hallar un descubrimiento que mejore la vida de los habitantes del pueblo. En el camino, ambos se distancian: mientras el padre se dispone a continuar hacia el otro lado de la montaña, Searcher encuentra Pando, una planta a la que considera hay que investigar sus propiedades. Esto produce una ruptura entre ambos que culmina con Jaeger siguiendo su aventura y el muchacho retornando a Avalonia y convirtiéndose en un granjero cuyo producto esencial, Pando, acaba motivando el progreso esperado para el pueblo.

Veinticinco años más tarde, ya casado con Meridian (Gabrielle Union) y con Ethan (Jaboukie Young-White), un hijo de dieciséis años intrigado por la fama de su abuelo, Searcher no tiene más opción que iniciar una cruzada para investigar el origen de la repentina enfermedad que afecta a Pando y que amenaza el bienestar de Avalonia.

Rebosante de seres fantásticos y de una paleta de colores brillantes que quitan el aliento, es más que obvio que Don Hall, director de otros clásicos de Disney como “Grandes héroes” (Big Hero 6, 2014), “Moana” (2016) o “Raya y el último dragón” (Raya and the Last Dragon, 2021), ha intentado homenajear las revistas pulp y el cine de ciencia ficción clase B de mediados del siglo XX. 

Ya desde el principio, esta película sufrió los embates de la polémica debido a la inclusión de un personaje gay, el primero en una película de Disney: se trata de Ethan, enamorado de su amigo Diazo (Jonathan Melo), cuya sexualidad no sorprende ni espanta a nadie; su padre pide que le hable de Diazo y su abuelo, que ni siquiera sabía que tenía un nieto, lo toma con la mayor naturalidad posible. La polémica perjudicó seriamente el rendimiento del filme, que se convirtió en el mayor fracaso animado en la historia de la compañía del ratón.
