I WANNA BE YOURS
Summary: Months after admiring the girl from afar, you finally begin your relationship together.
Warnings: smut and idk…
Words: 9.3k
A/N: Longest imagine ive ever wrote. So please bare with me i did not edit or revise this
Vada Cavell x Footballer!GP! Reader
You walk through the crowded hallways, a black bookbag hanging off your shoulder. You look around and see the people you know, and those you don't. You make your way to your classroom, immediately recognized by your best friend. "There she is!" He shouts from his seat, raising his hands in the air.
"Ethan... it's like eight in the morning. Why are you shouting?" He laughs and pats the seat next to him. You take your seat and start to unpack your bag. "Coach cancelled practice for today. Something about giving us time to mentally prepare for the game."
You raise an eyebrow in surprise. "That's so unlike him." Ethan nodded in agreement. "Yeah, but I'm not complaining. It's nice to have a day off."
"Wanna hang out after school?" You ask, placing your notebook on your desk. The brown-haired boy leans into his chair, a smug smile on his face. "No, can do."
A smile makes its way on your face. "What's that look for?"
He shrugs, "Oh, nothing. It's just that Mia Reed and I are going to this Taylor Lift concert together."
You snort at the mess up of the Singer's name. "You mean Swift?" He rolls his eyes. "Yes, that's what I said, Taylor Swift." You shake your head, amused. "Just don't make that mistake in front of Mia."
Ethan has had a crush on Mia since middle school. But he's always been too scared to talk to her, so he'd always comment and support her dance videos on Instagram. He would often try to find ways to run into her, but he could never find the courage to talk to her.
"Wait," You furrow your eyebrows, turning to Ethan completely. "How did you even finesse a date with Mia Reed?" Ethan smiles and shrugs. "What do they say again? Drunk words are sober thoughts?"
You shake your head and laugh. "I was drunk out of my mind during Max's spring break party, and then I saw Mia... and I just went for it." You had seen Mia around school but had never actually talked to her.
You were surprised that she even agreed to go out with him. Ethan could be surprisingly daring when he wanted to be. "You're a brave guy," he holds up a finger. "A brave drunk guy!"
"Also you'd never believe who else I seen at Max's party." "Who?" you asked, curious. He grinned, "Fucking baby Adam Sandler, Vada!"
You stared in disbelief. "You're such a liar." He shakes his head, sitting up in his seat. "Bro! I swear to god! She was there! In her oversized clothes and everything."
You narrowed your eyes at him, still skeptical. He laughs at your facial expression, "Maybe if you had gone then you could've seen yourself." He says in a sing-song tone.
You shake your head and turn away, still unconvinced. He laughs again, "Well, believe me, or not, I'm telling the truth." He shrugs.
Your teacher then walks into the classroom. You glance back at him, trying to figure out if he's telling the truth. He winks at you and turns away, leaving you unsure. As your teacher brings the lesson your mind wanders off.
Vada Cavell, whose last name you only found out due to her Instagram page. Kind of like Ethan, you've been liking Vada for a while but never built up the courage to talk to her or ask her out.
It's been months of admiring her from afar. She was beautiful in person and you found yourself totally mesmerized by her. You liked the way she dressed, unbothered by how anyone else thought of it, you liked the way her smile lit up the room.
You just had to talk to her, but you hesitated. You felt like you could never measure up to her. You wondered if she could ever like you, too.
You only seen Vada talk to her friends from the beginning of the year. It was Nick, Mia, and Quinton. You felt like an outsider, not part of their group.
You were too shy to approach her, and you were afraid of getting rejected. You also felt like you were the total opposite of Vada's type, so you decided to stay on the sidelines and admire her from a distance. You wanted to get to know her but you weren't sure how to start a conversation.
The rest of the day went by fast. Before you knew it you were back home, greeted by your cat and your mom. "Hey, honey. You're home early."
Your mom speaks up from the kitchen, while your cat rubs itself against your leg. Taking off your jacket and bookbag, you smile and reply. "Yeah, coach cancelled practice." You give your cat a few scratches before heading off to the kitchen to join your mom.
"Really? That's surprising." You laugh, peeking into the pot your mom was stirring. "Yeah, that's what I said."
"What are you making?" you ask, taking a seat at the kitchen table. "Spaghetti." She smiles, adding stuff to the pot. You feel a wave of warmth wash over you as the familiar smell of your mom's cooking fills the kitchen.
You watch as she expertly moves around the kitchen, adding ingredients to the pot. "I have to work late tonight, so I figured I'll start dinner early." She stirs the contents and you can smell the delicious aromas wafting from the pot. She gives you a smile, and you are grateful that she is willing to take the time to make dinner for the both of you.
"Ma, you should be resting. I can cook dinner." She waves her hand at you dismissively. "I want to do this. After all, it's my job to take care of you."
She pours some more ingredients into the pot, and the smell of the food intensifies. "What if I got a job? So you don't have to work late shifts anymore?" You suggest, a frown on your face.
She pauses for a moment, before shaking her head. "No, you need to focus on your studies and football. You worked hard for your starting spot, honey." She smiles sadly at you, before stirring the pot and humming a song.
She stops, "Now, go take a shower. It's almost finished." You nod and walk away, feeling a bit defeated. You know she only wants the best for you, but it's still hard to hear. You take a deep breath and head for the bathroom.
You take a long shower, letting the hot water wash away the disappointment. You remind yourself that you are doing your best and that will have to be enough.
Taking a deep breath, you step out of the shower and head back into the kitchen. After eating dinner with your mom, you begin scrolling through Instagram and TikTok. You soon find yourself laughing at memes and videos, allowing yourself to forget the stresses of the day for a few moments.
Hours pass and you soon realize it's time for bed. You turn off your phone and crawl into bed, just as you're about to drift off to sleep, your phone dings. It was a message from Ethan.
ethan - best fucking concert ever
ethan - im officially a swiftie
ethan - taylor's songs are anthems for my life. everything she does is iconic. she's my queen.
you - i'm guessing it went well with mia?
ethan - well? it went amazing bro
ethan - she wanted to hang out tmr but she has plans w adam sandler
you - oh thats a shame
ethan - omg i jus got the best idea evr
you - which is
ethan - A DOUBLE DATE
you - ethan no.
You place down your phone, and it vibrates from the amount of messages you're receiving. You lay back down, but of course, your phone starts ringing. And it's Ethan, obviously.
You sigh, but you pick up the call anyway. "Listen to me! It's a great idea!" He shouts through the speakers of your phone, You groan and roll your eyes, but you can't help but be amused. You reply, "Okay, I'm listening."
Ethan begins to explain his idea in more detail, "Okay look! If I text Mia, right now saying what if me and you both go to the arcade with them, she'll be like sure! Then that means I get to hang out with Mia and you finally get to meet Vada."
Ethan smiled, knowing he had found the perfect plan. You chew the inside of your cheeks, debating if you should agree to Ethan's plan. You take a deep breath and finally give in, deciding that this could be the start of something good.
He quickly texts Mia, and after a few moments, she replies agreeing. "Looks like we got ourselves a double date." Ethan and Mia started to chat excitedly about the date, and you couldn't help but feel a bit of excitement as well. You hadn't been on a date in a while and it felt like a new adventure. But was this actually a date, or just a way to hang out with friends? You weren't sure.
You woke up to a shout of your name. You quickly scrambled out of bed and rushed to the living room. There was your mom standing in the doorway with a wide grin on her face and Ethan right beside her.
"Ethan's here." You send a tired smile to your mom, "How was work?" She shrugs, "It was alright. Come here and give Ethan a hug." You side-eye Ethan, who opens his arms wide, a goofy smile on his face.
"C'mon Y/N/N! Hug me!" You reluctantly walk over and give Ethan a hug. He squeezes you tightly and laughs. Your mom smiles, watching the two of you before turning to head upstairs. Ethan lets you go and gives you a pat on the back.
You take a few steps back and he grins at you. You smile back, "Why are you here so early?" Ethan shrugs, "Your mom said it was okay. Plus it's 3 o'clock in the afternoon." You nod, and Ethan takes a seat on the couch.
He looks around and then turns back to you, "So, what have you been up to today?" You shrug, "Not much. Sleeping."
"I can tell," he motions his hands above his head, basically telling you your hair was a mess. You laugh and run your hand through your hair, trying to tame it. You look back at Ethan and smile, "What about you? What have you been up to?" He grins, "Talking to Mia."
"Oh, really?" You raise your eyebrows. "And what did she have to say?" He shrugs. "She said that they'll be at the arcade at around six."
You nod, sitting down on the couch as well. "Wanna watch The Walking Dead?" He nods and smiles. "Sure, let's watch it!" You grab the remote and search for the show getting comfortable on the couch. The episode starts with a bang, and you both settle in to watch.
Two hours later, you two are still glued to the screen, eagerly awaiting the next plot twist. Once the episode ends, you turn to your friend and say, "Shit! What time is it?"
Ethan, eyes wide, checks his watch and gasps. "We have to go, now!" He exclaims. You both jump up but you pause, "Wait! I gotta shower, do my hair-"
"Less talking and more doing!" Ethan pushes you to the stairs, and you begin sprinting up them, almost running into your mom. She steps aside to let you pass, a mix of surprise and amusement on her face as she watches you go.
Quickly you take a shower and change into a clean set of clothes. Not before fixing your hair and spraying on cologne, you head downstairs, ready and excited. Ethan is waiting for you, a satisfied smirk on his face, and together you leave.
When you arrive at the arcade you see Mia and Vada. Mia's smiling and waving excitedly at you both while Vada kicks a nearby rock. You both walk over and Mia gives Ethan a big hug.
Vada stands off to the side, her arms crossed but a small smile on her face. You look around and see the arcade bustling with activity, and you know you're in for a night of fun. "Hey, guys!" Ethan says, smiling. You look at Vada, and your heart beats like crazy.
"Hey, Vada." She smiles. "Ready for a night of fun?" she asks, her eyes twinkling. You can only nod as you follow the couple into the arcade. Almost immediately, Ethan and Mia go off and do their own thing leaving you and Vada alone.
Vada points to a game ahead of you. "Let's see who can get the highest score," she says with a mischievous smile. You nod and the two of you start to play. After a few minutes of intense competition, Vada ends up with the highest score.
She laughs and celebrates her victory, and you can't help but smile widely. "If I knew you were such a sore winner I would've tried harder." Vada gives you a playful shove and giggles. "You'll have to try harder next time!" she says. The two of you soon move on to the next game.
In watching you press the start button, Vada admits, "I'm bad at basketball." You pick up a ball, looking at her smiling. "That's ok, I'm pretty bad at it too," you reply. She furrows her eyebrows, "I thought you played basketball?" You shoot the ball, and it doesn't even hit the rim.
"Actually-" She starts, and you let out a loud laugh. She joins in your laughter. "I play football," you say continuing the shoot the remaining balls in front of you.
"But like aren't you supposed to at least have good accuracy? A blind person could shoot better than you." You chuckle, "I'm more of a receiver, not a quarterback." You shoot the last ball which ends up bouncing out of the cage from hitting the rim.
You catch the ball easily, placing it down. She shakes her head and grins. "I stand by my statement. You're terrible." She presses the button, picking up the basketball in front of her. "Watch and learn."
The first one she shoots goes in, "Lucky shot." You mumble, and she smiles in response. The second one also goes in, and the third and fourth too. "You lied to me. You said you sucked." She laughs, and sets up the next shot. "I never said I was suck, I just said I was bad." She takes the shot and it swishes through the net. "What the fuck?"
She turns to you and grins. "You see? I told you I was bad, not suck." You can only stare in amazement as she lines up the next shot and scores again. She laughs and walks away, leaving you in awe. "You lied!" You yell out as you follow her. She laughs again. "I'll let you in on a secret."
She stops and turns around, her face serious. "In order to score all the shots, you have to aim for the back of the rim. And then once you do that, calculate how much power you're putting into your shot. That way you'll be able to get a better idea of the trajectory the ball will take. And you'll have a better chance of making the shot." You squint your eyes at the girl, tilting your head a bit.
She bites her lip in response. Adorable, she thinks. "How do you know all of that? Or like, how'd you even figure that out?" She shrugs, a smirk playing on her lips. "I came here before with Quinton." Your eyes widen in surprise. "Really? You two are...close?"
"We're friends." Is all she says. She looks away and takes a deep breath. "But yeah, he's a good friend." She smiles and looks back up at you, her eyes twinkling. "Wanna get something to drink?"
You nod and smile, and the two of you head to grab a drink. "Look, I'm gonna show you how to make the best slushie you'll ever fucking taste in your life." You grab a cup, joining Vada in front of the slushie machine.
Vada begins to explain the steps, and you find yourself getting more and more invested in the process. You join in, and together you prepare the perfect slushie. You take a sip and it's everything Vada promised. "Wow."
"Right!" Vada grins with satisfaction. Your eyes look around the arcade and you notice Ethan and Mia shooting water blasters at the target together. "You know, they're kind of cute together." Vada looks at the two, nodding in agreement. "It was bound to happen eventually. She's been crushing on the guy since sixth grade."
You furrow your eyebrows, your head snapping at the shorter girl next to you. "Really? Ethan too!" Vada laughs, a smile on her face. "That's crazy. It's been obvious to everyone but them." She turns back to the two, watching them laugh and shoot water blasters in sync. "They just need to tell each other how they feel."
"I mean...It's not that simple." You say, taking another sip of your slushie. Vada shrugs. "It's worth a try. I mean, what have they got to lose?" You shake your head. "I don't know. It's a risk they might not want to take."
You're beginning to wonder if you're talking about Ethan or yourself. Vada looks at you with a knowing look. "You never know. Sometimes taking a risk can be the best thing to do." You take a deep breath, considering her words. "Yeah, I guess you're right."
"I'm glad you agreed to come, I would've been third-wheeling the entire night." You laugh, "I'm glad I came too." You never know. Sometimes taking a risk can be the best thing to do. Vada's words basically repeat in your head, "I uh, I've actually been wanting to talk to you for a while." You admit.
She looks surprised but pleased. "Really? I had no idea!" You nod and smile, feeling relieved that you finally said it. "Yeah! I just didn't know how to approach you." She smiles, her dimples appearing on her cheeks. "Dude, it's not like I would've bit you if you tried to make a conversation with me."
You both laugh and the tension between you dissipates. She looks at you, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "So, what do you want to talk about?" You shrug, using your straw to stir around your drink. "Favorite color?"
"Easy. All of them." She smiles and takes a sip of her drink. "I guess I can't argue with that. Favourite movie?" She pauses for a moment, thinking. "It's hard to pick just one, but I think it's The Staircase. I watched it a thousand times." You hum, "I've never watched it before."
"Wait, what?" She shakes her head in disbelief. "You have to watch it. It's a classic!" You shrug. "I'll watch it. What's it about?" She grins. "It's about this white guy who murders his second wife, and probably his first wife, and gets away with both."
You look at her, surprised. "That sounds intense. Is it a true story?" She laughs. "No, it's a movie. You'll love it. What's yours?"
You open your mouth to speak but she cuts you off. "Lemme guess. Tom Brady Documentary: True Stories." You start to laugh. "Yeah, that's it. It's a classic." She laughs. "See, I knew it!"
"But actually, it has to be How To Build a Better Boy." You say, watching her face to see her reaction. She looks shocked, "Wait that one sappy Disney movie?"
"It's not sappy." She laughs, "Yeah, right. I'm sure it's full of life lessons and cheesy dialogues." You smirk, "Maybe, but it's still worth watching."
She shakes her head, "I don't believe you. There's no way it can be that good." You shrug, "Trust me. I promise you won't regret it." Vada takes another sip of her drink, only to realize she's finished it. She looks up at you with a questioning gaze.
You smile and offer her some of your drink. "Trust me how I trusted you to make this drink." Vada hesitates, then takes the drink from you. "Okay. I'll watch it tonight, and then first thing in the morning I'll tell you if it was good or bad."
You nod and watch her take a sip. "You'd need my number for that." She smiles, takes out her phone and hands it to you. You add your number, then hand it back. "I'll be waiting for your call then." You wink and she laughs, taking another sip of the drink.
Ethan and Mia make their way toward you two, smiles on their faces. "You guys ready to go?" You both nod, and you all make your way out of the arcade. You all walk out, the cool night air bringing a sense of peace. You and the girl share a glance, and she smiles. You both head to your respective cars and drive off in different directions.
"How was it with Vada?" You reply, "It was great. She's a really cool girl." Ethan smiles and you ask him how it went with Mia. "We had our first kiss." Ethan's face lit up with excitement. "WHEN?"
He shyly looks away and replies, "Just a few minutes ago. You missed it being too oo la la with Vada." You roll your eyes smiling and give him a high five. Ethan grins and says, "It was amazing." He then pulls out of the parking lot, turning on his blinker and making a left towards your place.
Meanwhile, in Mia's car, she and Vada are talking about you. Mia teases Vada about her crush on you. Vada blushes and laughs, still a little embarrassed. "I mean she's cute and I can tell she really likes you."
Vada looked away, still blushing. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said, laughing. Mia just smiled and shook her head. As soon as Vada got home she was questioned by her mom.
Vada quickly changed the subject, not wanting her mom to know what had happened. Vada's mother gave her a knowing look but didn't press the issue. Instead, she just said, "Well, I'm glad you had a good time." Vada smiled and nodded, grateful that her mom hadn't pushed the matter any further.
She fell against the couch, hesitating before turning on How To Build a Better Boy, your favourite movie. The movie started and Vada felt a sense of relief as her mom left the room. She curled up in her blanket and let herself get lost in the movie.
"Perfect boy but his name is Albert! And how'd he get a car...plus why'd he just throw his keys to a random guy?" Vada mumbles to herself, confused at the logic of the movie.
She giggled at the absurdity of it all, hoping the movie would eventually make sense. Despite the silliness, she couldn't help but be drawn in by the characters and their stories. Vada watched with anticipation as the movie unfolded, eager to find out what would happen next.
Until Amelia comes down, standing in front of the TV. Vada groans at her little sister, "Dude. I'm trying to watch something." Amelia turns to her with a small frown, "I wanna watch too." Vada reluctantly scoots over to make room for her, rolling her eyes in an attempt to hide her growing smile. They cuddle up on the couch, ready for whatever the movie had in store.
The sisters watched the movie, laughing and pointing out silly things until it was time for bed. Vada tucked Amelia in, giving her a hug and a kiss on the forehead, before heading off to dreamland herself.
When you woke up in the morning the first thing you did was grab your phone, checking for any recent messages. You felt a wave of disappointment as you saw that no one had messaged you. You decided to go downstairs to make breakfast.
Your mom had already left for work, so it was just you and your cat, Goose. You started making a simple omelet. It was one of your go-to recipes. But gosh, was it delicious.
As you ate the omelet, you had a moment of peace, just you and your cat, and the warm and comforting taste of the omelet. Goose jumps onto the table, meowing in your face. "Goose down."
Goose meows in protest, but eventually jumps off the table. You take a deep breath, savouring the last bite of the omelet. You look down at Goose and smile, "I'll make sure to give you a treat later." Goose purrs in response, contentedly rubbing against your leg. You get up to clean the kitchen, and your phone goes off in the middle of the dishes.
xxx-xxx-xxxx - ok. i'd admit it's a very good movie
You smile, she had finally texted you.
you - see it's not sappy, but a work of art
vada - i wouldnt take it that far
you - lol, i still have to watch the stairless
Three dots appear on the screen, then disappear. You frown, continuing to wash the dishes. You pause and turn off the water, drying your hands. You pick up your phone again, Vada had texted back.
vada - we could watch it at my place
you - when?
vada - today if u want
you - ok sure
you - send me ur address
You ring the doorbell, shifting your weight from one leg to the other anxiously. "Mom! Do not open the-" The muffled voice stops once the door is swung open. You stand there, frozen, unable to move. The blonde woman smiles at you, "Hi! You must be Vada's friend. Mia is it?" You shake your head, hearing a groan come from inside the house. "Mom, this is Y/N."
You smile awkwardly, feeling embarrassed. Mom chuckled and stepped aside, motioning for you to come in. You nervously step inside, smiling at the woman who let you in.
Vada sends you a wave which you return, placing your hands in your pocket. You take a deep breath as you take in your surroundings. The home was warm and inviting, with decorations all around the place.
You follow Vada, who leads you to the living room. She offers you a seat and you sit down, feeling somewhat more at ease. "Sorry about that." You wave it off, "It's fine. She seems sweet."
"If sweet means extremely noisy and out of touch with this generation, then yes. She's very sweet." Vada sighs and sits down on the couch next to you. You can't help but laugh at her comment. She shakes her head and smiles. "She means well, I suppose." She says with a shrug.
You lean further back into the red couch, as Vada picks up the remote turning on The Stairless. Vada and you sit back and watch the movie, exchanging comments and laughs. Time passes quickly, and soon enough you both find yourselves lost in the story. "Off the bat, I knew he killed his first wife." You laugh, slightly turning your head to Vada. "I'm telling you, he did it!" Vada exclaimed.
You both chuckle and then continued watching the movie. As the movie plays, the closer you two get. Now leaning into each other, you can feel the warmth of Vada's body as your hands occasionally brush against each other.
Your conversations become more meaningful, and the laughs become genuine. The movie fades away, and all that's left is the two of you, living in the moment.
As the credits rolled, you both looked at each other in amazement. "That was one hell of a movie," you say. "I told you. That movie is the shit." You sit up a bit, your shoulder brushing against Vadas. "Okay, rate How to Build a Better Boy and then I'll rate this."
Vada takes a moment to think, then finally responds. "It was an 8/10 for me," she says. "I really enjoyed it. How about mine?" You pause to consider the movie before finally saying, "Hmm, I'd give it a 9/10. Definitely worth watching again."
Vada grins. "I knew you'd like it." She leans back against the couch and stretches her arms out. "I'm glad we got to watch it together." You give her a smile and nod in agreement.
You give her a smile and nod in agreement. You both take a few minutes to relax in the comfortable silence. Then, you break it.
"I'm really craving one of your slushies." Vada laughs. "Wanna get one?" You nod and she jumps up, pulling you up from the couch. "Let's get Albert!" Furrowing your eyebrows, you both head out the door. "Albert?"
Vada laughs again. "I was thinking about it and you literally are the fully human version of him, except you don't really look alike." You roll your eyes, but you can't help but laugh. "Albert's a douche, I'm not a douche."
Vada snorts as you unlock your chair door, getting inside together. "Albert is not a douche. He's a sweet young boy who cares about his girlfriend, and he's really good at football."
You can't help but smile, shaking your head. "Yeah, okay, maybe he's not a douche." Vada grins as you start the engine. "Exactly. So therefore you're Albert." You chuckle and put the car in gear. "Are you trying to say that I'm perfect and really good at football?"
She laughs."No, I'm saying you're not a douche. Now let's go! The slurpies are calling my name." You roll your eyes and drive away, the two of you laughing as you go.
Since that day you've been texting Vada non-stop. She doesn't seem to mind it either. You feel like you can talk to her about anything. And to add to that, you've also been talking during school. Vada had even come over to meet your cat, when your mom was at work. You two have become really close over the past few weeks. Every day you look forward to talking to her and spending time with her. You can't help but feel like you are falling for her.
"Are you coming to my game tonight?" Vada smiled at you and nodded. You felt your heart flutter. You knew for sure, you were starting to fall in love. "Yeah, of course. Even though I barely understand football." You laugh at her response, leaning into the lockers. She smiles back, her eyes twinkling. "I'll explain the rules to you," you say, your voice soft as it can be. Vada can feel her heart skip a beat, and you smile at her.
She looked away for a moment, then back into your eyes. "But if you don't carry four people on your shoulders and score like Albert, then I'm leaving mid-game." She jokes causing you to smile. You tried to think of a witty reply, but all you could do was laugh. "I'll try my best."
She smiled and put her hand on your shoulder. "That's all I ask." She patted your shoulder and walked away. You watched her leave, feeling content with your exchange. Ethan, who you didn't notice was behind you places a hand on your shoulder.
You jump in surprise. "Jesus!" He laughs. "You should relax, man. I didn't mean to scare you." He removed his hand and stepped back. You take a deep breath and let it out, relieved.
"What were you guys talking about?" You shrug, "Nothing important. She's coming to our game tonight." Ethan's eyes widen in shock, "Are you serious?" "Yeah, why?" You reply, slightly confused. He shakes his head, "Nothing, just... Mia asked herself and Vada said no."
"Hm..." You hum, unsure of what to take from the situation. "I don't know maybe she changed her mind last second." A goofy smile makes its way onto Ethan's face, "Or maybeeeeee... she likes you."
You look away, blushing. "No way," you say, shaking your head. "She's definitely not interested in me that way." Ethan gives you a knowing look. "You've been talking for weeks. I've seen the way she looks at you," he says. "You should ask her out dude." You hesitate, not sure if you should take his advice.
The bell rings, and you look at Ethan with a smirk. "Saved by the bell." Ethan rolls his eyes and laughs. "Just ask her," he says, and you cover your ears humming as you walk through the hallway.
"Check, check! Elvis, Elvis!" Ethan yells. You look at the cornerback in front of you, and give Ethan a thumbs up. You take a deep breath and get into your stance. You know that if you can get past the cornerback, and potentially win your team some yards. You focus on the cornerback and wait for the snap.
The snap comes and you explode off the line. You easily beat the cornerback and break into the open field. You know you have a chance to make a big play and you sprint as fast as you can. Ethan throws the ball to you, and you catch it successfully.
Only making it to the 45-yard line before you're tackled. The crowd erupts in cheers as you get up from the tackle, smiling. You know you've made a huge play and energized your team. As you jog back to the huddle, you can feel the momentum shifting in your favour.
The team regroups and prepares for the next play. Everyone is pumped up and ready to take it to the end zone. Ethan calls the next play and the team breaks the huddle, ready for action. Ethan snaps the ball, handing it off to the running back who earns just about 8 yards from the play. It's third down, and you need 10 more yards to get to first.
Ethan calls out the next play and the team runs it perfectly. The running back manages to break free and run for 20 yards, giving the team a first down. The team cheers in excitement as they get a fresh set of downs and move closer to the end zone. "Y/N," you perk up at the sound of your name, "Be ready." You nod as Ethan pats your helmet.
You take a deep breath as you prepare yourself for the next play. You watch as Ethan signals the play and the team begins running it. You run up to the line of scrimmage, ready to make your move.
You see a gap in the defence and make your move, sprinting forward. You catch the football with both hands and take off, running for the endzone. You feel the wind in your face as you cross the goal line and score the touchdown.
The crowd erupts in cheers as you spike the ball in celebration. You jog back to the sidelines, feeling a sense of accomplishment and pride. You know you just made a game-winning play.
Meanwhile, Vada is in the stands beside Mia yelling, "GOAALLLLLLLLL!" Mia and Vada jump up and down excitedly, hugging each other in joy. The crowd continues to cheer as you take off your helmet and raise your arm in triumph. You feel a deep sense of satisfaction knowing that your hard work has paid off.
You wave to your mom who waves back, a huge smile on her face. "That's what I'm talking about!" Your coach saying patting your back. You take off your helmet, rubbing the sweat off your forehead with your towel. "Just one more touchdown and we've made it to the playoffs, baby."
You take a moment to take in the sound of the cheering crowd and the feel of the cool night air. The team gathers together in a huddle, the defensive team heading onto the field.
As the players take their positions on the field, the energy in the stadium is palpable. The coaches call out the plays and the team readies for the snap. The opposite team's quarterback takes the ball and the game resumes.
Thankfully your defensive side was able to stop the other team, and you're back on the field. Your team huddles up and the coach gives the next play. You take your position and get ready for the snap. As the ball is snapped, you make your move and the play is underway.
You make a break for the end zone, dodging and weaving past the other team's defence. Catching the ball with ease, you can feel the cheers of the crowd getting louder as you get closer. You feel someone hop on your back, but you continue running.
You keep going until you cross the goal line and score the winning touchdown. The crowd erupts as you raise your arms in victory. You look back to see your opponent still on your back, frustrated and disappointed.
The referee quickly signals for a touchdown and you can see the joy on your teammates' faces. You look back at your opponent and offer a friendly handshake to congratulate them on a good game. The team celebrates your victory as the crowd continues to roar.
You run to the sidelines, ecstatic about the win. The coaches congratulate you on your performance and the team gathers for a group hug. You look into the stands and see Vada staring back at you, her mouth open in shock. You take off your helmet, dropping it on the ground before holding up a heart.
Vada smiles and laughs, she mimes a heart back to you, and you smile widely. Ethan brings you into a tight hug, patting your back, "HELL YEAH!" You finally feel the euphoria of a victory. You had worked so hard and it had all paid off.
You look back at the field one last time, taking in the feeling of success before you turn to join your team in their celebration. You have made it, and nothing can take this moment away from you.
Moments pass and the entire team makes its way into the locker room. Everyone is in high spirits, laughing, hugging and even dancing to the sound of the music playing in the background. You can't help but smile, happy about the win.
As the team disperses, the coach takes you aside. He looks you in the eye and says "I'm proud of you. Great job today." You feel a thank him before leaving the locker room, walking outside to the front of the school building.
Ethan, Mia, and Vada are already there waiting. Once Vada sees you she runs to you, basically jumping into your arms. You hug her tightly, feeling a warmth inside. "You did it!" She shouts, her eyes bright with excitement.
"You like actually carried that guy onto your back? I told you you're Albert!" You laugh and hug her again. "Thanks, Vada." You are interrupted by a throat being cleared, and it's your mom.
"Hey, Ma." Your mom smiles at you, holding out her arms and you step into them, contentment washing over you. She pulls away slightly, with a proud smile and says, "You should be proud of yourself, Y/N. You did something remarkable today."
You smile, feeling a warmth in my chest. "I'm glad you think so," She hugs you again and says, "I always have, sweetheart. Now go hang out with your friends." You smile wider, feeling a warmth in your chest and your eyes start to mist.
You hug her tightly and thank her, before turning to go. You pause for a moment and look back, feeling so thankful for the unconditional love you have been given.
"TIME TO PARTYYYYY!" Ethan shouts from beside Mia, who joins him. You shake your head at the two, turning to Vada who raises her head, joining in as well. You can't help but laugh at their enthusiasm and join in, feeling the energy of the night.
The four of you make your way towards Max's house. He's known for throwing the best parties at your school, but you've never gone to any of them. You've never really had a reason to, but now you kind of do.
You knock on the door and Max welcomes you all in. The house is filled with people, and loud music and the air is thick with laughter and energy. You can feel a sense of anticipation and excitement as you all take in the scene.
You look around and take it all in, feeling a bit overwhelmed but excited. You make your way through the crowd, looking for a place to sit down and relax. You finally find a spot and settle in, ready to enjoy the party. "No way you're sitting down at a party," Vada says from beside you. You swallow your drink before sending a small smile at her.
She grins and grabs your hand, leading you to the dining room. "We're gonna play beer pong. I hope you have better accuracy."
"Any challengers?" A dark-haired boy says from the other side of the table, his friend close by. "Yeah." You speak up, wrapping an arm around Vada's shoulders. "Me and her," Vada smiles, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Ready to go?" you ask, and she nods.
The boy nods, "Okay. But just know beer pong is my calling." You and Vada exchange a knowing look, and you set up the table. The game begins and you soon find yourself in a heated battle with the dark-haired boy.
It's drink after drink, throw after throw, and soon the game is over. The boy is declared the winner with a triumphant grin on his face. Vada and you exchange an impressed look and congratulate him on his victory.
"I can't believe he won that." You mutter, a bit tipsy. Vada shakes her head, "I can. You still suck at aiming balls into stuff." You laugh and throw your hands up in defeat. "You're right, I do. But maybe I'll get better one day." You continue following Vada around the party until she suggests something.
"Wanna get high?" You look around the party and then back at Vada, "Let's do it." She smiles and grabs your hand, leading you away from the party. You quickly found a secluded corner outside, and she produced a joint from her pocket. Taking a lighter from her other pocket, "You always have a lighter and a joint in your pocket?"
She laughed, "No but... I knew I'd be going to this party. I wanted to prepare myself." You hum with a nod, Vada's eyes leave the joint before meeting yours. "Have you done this before?" You shake your head, "No. I haven't.."
She smiles, takes the joint and takes a deep breath. "It's ok, I'll show you how."Vada inhaled, and slowly exhaled. She passed the joint back to you and said, "Just take a tiny puff. Don't hold it in, just let it out." You took the joint and followed her advice. You felt a tingle in your chest as the smoke lingered in the air. You coughed a bit, but it was a good feeling. You exhaled and smiled. "See? Not so bad."
You handed the joint back to Vada, feeling a bit more at ease. You sit down on the grass, and Vada joins you laughing. "Just wait till it hits." You close your eyes and lean your head back, savouring the moment.
You feel the warm sun on your skin and the cool grass beneath you. You can feel the effects of the marijuana start to take hold, and a peaceful calm overtakes you. "I wonder what kind of high you'll be."
"There kinds?" You smile and nod, feeling content. "There's the body high, the mental high, and the spiritual high. Each one has its own unique experience." You take a deep breath and sigh, feeling the effects of the marijuana wash over you.
You close your eyes and relax, feeling the tension in your body slowly dissipate. You smile, feeling a sense of peace and clarity that you hadn't felt in a long time. You open your eyes and take another deep breath, feeling a deep sense of connection to the world around you.
"I wonder who wrote the script for How to Build a Better Boy," Vada's eyes widen. She can't believe that's what you're talking about mid-smoke. You laugh and shrug. "It's just something I thought of. I was just trying to relax." She smiles, understanding. "Well, it seems like it worked. You look much calmer now."
You take a deep breath and smile. "Yeah, I guess it did. I'm glad I was able to take my mind off things for a bit." Vada nods in agreement, then takes a deep drag from the joint. You both take a moment to enjoy the silence and the feeling of companionship.
You turn to the shorter girl, smiling. "I wanna kiss you. Badly, I've been wanting to kiss you, but now I just really really really-" You're cut off by a pair of lips onto yours. You close your eyes and kiss her back, savouring the moment. When you pull away, you can't help but smile.
You look into her eyes and feel a warmth inside you that you never thought was possible. "I've been wanting to kiss you too." You smile wider, bringing her back into an intense kiss.
Bringing the girl into your lap, gripping her waist tightly. You can feel her heart pounding against your own. You can feel her body relax into your embrace as you kiss her more passionately. You don't know if this is just Vada or the cannabis you've inhaled, but this is definitely one of the best kisses you've had.
She pulls away and smiles at you, her eyes twinkling. You can feel the electricity between you, like something that will never be broken. You know this moment will stay with you forever.
She leans in and whispers in your ear, "I love you." You can feel your heart swell at the words. You hold her close and whisper back, "I love you too." Everything around you fades away and all that is left is the two of you in this moment. You kiss her tenderly as your hearts beat in unison.
"You've gotta be quiet!" Vada whisper yells at you, trying her best to support your weight. You nod and press your lips together, trying your best to muffle the sound of your breathing.
You feel Vada's arms tremble as she carries you through the darkness. You can sense her fear. "Ma is probably..." You start snoring and begin laughing at your own joke.
Hopefully, your mother is sleeping because of the way you're acting right now, she'd definitely tell if you're not sober. Vada stops walking and scolds you.
She tells you to keep quiet and you quickly apologize. You try to remain quiet for the remainder of the journey, but you can't help but feel a bit of excitement as you approach your bedroom.
On the second to last step, there's a creaking noise. You both tense up at the sound, waiting there a few moments before resuming your movements.
"Are we gonna make out, V?" Vada blushes, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Shh, we're almost to your room." You make it to the room, closing the door behind you. Vada then pushes you onto the bed, plopping down beside you with a heavy sigh.
You begin giggling, turning to the girl beside you. She smiles, leaning in closer. You close your eyes, feeling her warm breath on your face. You both press your lips together, eagerly exploring each other.
Your heart races as you feel her hands on your back. You break away, looking into her eyes. You both share a knowing smile, "Are you sober enough to consent?" You nod, "Yes. Now hurry... sober thoughts and drunk thoughts."
Vada laughs at your mess-up, fuck it. She was high as hell as well. She was just handling it way better than you.
You both kissed again, feeling the warmth as your bodies pressed against each other. You felt the alcohol between you, but you both knew that you were sober enough to make a conscious decision. Your hearts were pounding as you embraced each other, both of you eager for more.
You pull away, climbing onto of Vada. Vada smiles up at you as you look deep into her eyes. You lean in and kiss them passionately, your hands exploring her body. You two stay like this for what feels like an eternity, until finally you pull away, and you begin undressing.
You throw your hoodie away, and try to rip apart your white tank top but fail. Vada notices your frustration and giggles, then helps you take off your tank top, revealing your toned abs. She smiles, before reaching up and kissing you again.
She then fumbles with the buttons of your pants, and pulls them down, before pushing you onto the bed. She climbs on top of you, and begins to passionately kiss your neck and chest. You can feel her hands trailing up and down your body as she continues to kiss you.
She moves her hands to your back and pulls you closer. You can feel her breath on your skin as she whispers into your ear. She then moves her lips to yours and you become lost in the moment.
You pull away slightly, "Vada take off your damn clothes." You say fiddling with her shirt. She complies taking off her bra as well. Your mouth moves to her chest, kissing, licking and suckling as your hands wander to her shorts. You slip them off her hips, leaving her in just her panties.
She moans in pleasure as you continue your ministrations.
You move your hands further down, gently stroking her inner thighs. You pause, taking in her beauty before slowly slipping off her panties.
She smiles at you, her desire and anticipation palpable in the air. "My heart is racing so much," she admits, smiling. "Mine too," you reply, leaning in to kiss her.
Her lips are soft and inviting, and you can feel the heat of her body radiating around you. You both lose yourself in the moment, the anticipation of what's to come envelops you both.
You flip her over, laying her on her back. You begin to explore her body with your hands. Her skin is soft and smooth beneath your fingertips. She moans softly, her eyes closed in pleasure. "Y/N..."
You move your hands up and down her body, exploring every inch of her. She gasps softly as you reach her most sensitive areas. You press your lips against her clit, sending waves of pleasure through her body.
She grabs hold of your hair, her moans getting louder as you keep going. You feel her body quiver beneath you as you continue to pleasure her, her breathing becoming rapid and her body shaking with pleasure.
You can feel her nearing her climax and you increase the intensity of your motions, pushing her over the edge. Her body convulses with pleasure as she reaches her orgasm. "Ohmygod."
You kiss her body as she recovers from her orgasm, her breathing slowly returning to normal. She looks up at you with a satisfied smile, her eyes still filled with pleasure. You return her smile, happy to have been able to bring her pleasure.
You feel yourself hard against your underwear, and you know that you're ready for your own pleasure. You pull her closer to you and whisper in her ear, letting her know that you're ready. She responds with a mischievous grin, her hand moving to pleasure you.
You moan as her hand slides up and down, the pleasure building inside you. She moves her lips to yours, her tongue exploring your mouth as her hand continues to work its magic.
You can feel yourself getting closer to the edge, and you grab her hand to slow her down. She smiles in understanding and pulls away, the pleasure ebbing away. You look into each other's eyes, and you both know that this is only the beginning. "I'm gonna grab a condom." You mumble, rushing off the bed and into your drawer.
She nods in agreement, and you can sense the anticipation in the air. You come back to the bed, and she eagerly takes the condom from you. Opening the gold wrapper, you take out the condom and unroll it onto yourself, before moving to lie on top of her.
She wraps her arms around you as you take a deep breath as you slowly slide inside her, and you both gasp in pleasure.
You both moan in pleasure as you start to move, and she wraps her legs around you. You start to build up momentum, faster and faster, as you move together. The friction of the condom creates a warm, smooth sensation that sends pleasure through both of you with each thrust.
With each movement, you feel your connection with her deepen and you can feel the sensations in both your bodies become more intense.
"Vada," you sigh out, resting your head in the nape of her shoulder. She looks up at you and smiles, her eyes twinkling in the dim light. You kiss her softly and she wraps her arms around you tightly.
You can feel the warmth radiating from her body and you feel the love you have for her in that moment. You want to stay like this forever and the thought of having to part from her is too much to bear. You tightly embrace her and whisper that you love her. You feel her body trembling as she returns the embrace.
"I'm about to cum." She moans into your ear as she cums. You feel her body quivering and it sends waves of pleasure throughout your body. You hold her tight as you release as well. You collapse onto the bed, panting heavily. You lay there in each other's arms for a few moments, basking in the afterglow of your lovemaking. You kiss each other tenderly and drift off to sleep.
"Was I your first time?" She replies with a soft whisper, "No, Mia was." Your head snaps to her and she laughs, sighing out shortly after.
You take a moment to process what she said. "Really?" She nods, "It happened... multiple times... the fifth week of school." You take a deep breath and look away for a moment, trying to contain your confusion.
"Was I yours?" You shake your head smiling, "No, Ethan was." She lets out a loud laugh at your joke, laying her head on your chest. You take a deep breath and hold her close.
You feel a wave of emotions wash over you, grateful for the moment of comfort. You are filled with a sense of peace, knowing that you have someone to talk to and share your feelings with.
"I need to shower." You say. Vada nods rolling over. "You can join me, but you gotta be quiet." You smile, "Oh, you're telling me to be quiet now?"
You chuckle and lead her into the bathroom. You both take your time showering, enjoying the warmth of the water and each other's company. After, you dry off and return to your bedroom, both content and peaceful.
You wake up to a shout of your name. Looking to your left you notice Vada is still sound asleep. "Fuck," you rush up out of bed putting on your clothes before nearly darting downstairs to the kitchen, following the smell of breakfast.
Your mother is standing over the stove. Three plates of eggs and bacon already waiting for you on the table. She gives you a stern look before turning back to the stove. "There are three..." You mutter to her confused.
She points to the plates. "One for you, one for your girlfriend, and one for me. Now wake her up and come and eat."
You sheepishly smile turning on your heels to go wake up Vada.

A/N: he’s so bf like he’s literallyy my bf?! I love my bf!! bf!! he’s so this song!!
The producers for the interview you were doing didn’t tell you what the interview would be about. Both you and Jack just assumed it was a normal interview until you had to do the intro for the video. ‘Action!’
You wave, “Hi I’m y/n l/n!” Jack follows you and waves as well, “And I’m Jack Champion.” You both share a smile before quickly looking back at the camera, “And today we are going to be reacting to edits of ourselves.” Jacks eyes widen a bit before nodding slightly, “Lets do it.” “Lets do it,” you repeat.
Someone gives you a phone and tells you all you need to do is scroll and give commentary. “Jack, do you ever look at edits of yourself?” You ask him before clicking on the first video, you pause it before it starts to hear Jacks answer. “Uhh sometimes,” he laughs, “When I’m bored, or they’ll randomly appear on my for you page. What about you?” You smile a bit, “Same here. I also get tagged in a lot of them.” “Oohh yeah me too.”
“Shall we start?” You ask shaking the phone a little.
“We shall,” Jack responds with finger guns. You chuckle and start the first video, it’s an edit of Jack. It was of his Scream 6 character, Ethan Landry. Jack was blushing slightly when you had looked over at him. You giggled when the video ended, “Soo what’d you think?” He giggled with you, “People are really talented. I will say though I wasn’t expecting so many people to love Ethan. Especially because of.. the movie,” he said slowly.
You hum, “The movies been out a while I think you can say it.” He looks at you and then back at the camera, “I didn’t expect many people to love my character in Scream 6 because he’s a psychopathic murderer who chases people in a Ghostface mask,” He says in an accent and claps his hands together. You cover your mouth with your hand as you laugh. “Alright let’s move on, next!” Jack says smiling.
“Okay, here you can take the phone this time,” you tell him handing the phone to him. He takes it and scrolls down to the next edit, “I think it’s of you,” he whisper yells. You recognize the clip used as one in an interview you did only about a week ago. Jack looked at the video and then looked back at you while grinning. He seemed to be enjoying this a little too much, but you didn’t mind.
“Aw I liked that one,” you spoke up first.
“Me too,” Jack says as he stared at you. He liked the outfit you chose to wear today, he always admired your sense of style. He also liked the way you did your hair, it framed your face nicely. “Jack?” He cleared his throat, “Yeah? What?” You let out a confused laugh, “Were you listening?” His face turned red at the question, “uhhh-” You shake your head with a smile, “It’s okay, next edit!” You stick out your hand, signaling for him to give you the phone and he just looks at it.
You shake your hand and nod towards the phone a bit trying to be more clear and he tilts his head. You look at him and he looks like a lost puppy with his big brown eyes boring into yours. You smile a bit and lower your voice, “The phone, Jack.” “OH! Right yeah here,” he stumbles over his words as he hands you the phone. The light pink blush dusting his cheeks once again making him look even cuter than before.
“Okay and here we go,” you mutter. The video plays and at first it’s clips of Jack, you can recognize where some of the clips are from. A lot of them are from Avatar interviews, which makes sense. But then there’s clips of you and that causes your eyebrows to knit together slightly. Just a friendly edit, you presumed, but at the end of the video there’s a clip of you and Jack together.
It’s a clip from a little behind the scenes of Scream 6. The small moment was of Jack putting his arm around you while you were both in the backseat of a bus going to set that day. You smiled at the memory and the video came to an end, “That was cute.” He nodded in agreement, he had the same stupid smile on his face, “Yeah.” You took a peak at the comments, all of them were ship comments.
“They’d be so cute together!”
“Are we sure they aren’t dating?”
“The way they look at each other 🥹”
“I WANT WHAT THEY HAVE”
“There’s no way they aren’t dating”
Your smile got bigger and you handed Jack the phone with a quiet, “Your turn.”
The interview went on for a couple more minutes until they were satisfied with the length that the video would be. Then, it was time for the outro. “I’m y/n l/n,” Jack said and you followed his lead, “And I’m Jack Champion.”
“And you’re watching Disney Channel!”
“That’s not it, Jack-“
“And you’re watching Buzzfeed Celeb!”
“There you go. Thank you so much for watching..”
“And make sure to leave a like for more content like this,” he said finishing your sentence in a British accent.
“Cut! That was great, guys.”
You looked at Jack only to find him already looking at you, “You wanna go get lunch?” He asked already standing. “Of course.” You guys made your way out of the filming room and he made sure nobody was looking before he grabbed your hand, giving it a kiss,
“You don’t know how hard it was for me to stay quiet about our relationship. You looked so good, I just wanted to brag about how you were mine the whole time,” he said while pulling you in for a hug. You giggling and wrapped your arms around his neck and gave him a quick kiss, “We’ll tell them soon, babe.”

Anywayyy hope you are having a great start of The Weekend, love your writing 🫶🏼💋
⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅ sparking up my darkest night — ethan landry
ᡣ𐭩 word count: 3k
ᡣ𐭩 pairing: cowboy!ethan landry x pop star!fem!reader
ᡣ𐭩 summary: y/n goes to her grandparents’ hometown to hide from the drama, and she meets ethan, a cowboy who helps her through the darkness as they fall in love with each other.
ᡣ𐭩 warnings: fluff. cheesiness.
after long, exhausting hours of driving, y/n arrived to the minuscule town where she was going to hide for undefined amount of time. according to her publicist, disappearing from the public eye was the best choice, primarily for her mental health.
the two grammy award winner fell victim to the manipulation of another famous singer who, using his power as a big figure in the industry, twisted a story and went as far as editing conversations and calls to paint y/n as a villain.
and it had worked like a charm. at the moment, y/n’s name was trend on every platform and the hateful comments outlawed the positive ones, that were practically non-existent. people who already disliked her took the situation as an opportunity to unleash their hatred and some of their fans even turned their backs on her.
the castle y/n had built crumbled overnight, and so she decided to hide in the town her grandparents grew up in and try to pretend she was a normal person and her career and future weren’t slipping through her fingers like sand.
y/n stood right next to the car as her eyes inspected the house from outside. the flowers on the front garden were very much alive, the grass was perfectly cut, the windows were practically glowing. there was no aspect of the house that indicated it had been uninhabited for the last five years, and it sent y/n in a spiral because why was the place in such good conditions?
“y/n?” a boyish voice pulled her out of thoughts.
the girl went stiff and adjusted her sunglasses. “um, no?” she turned around to find a boy her age and a brown and white horse by his side.
amusement filled his eyes. “you are not sure if you’re y/n?” he asked, evidently trying to hold his laugh. “what’s with the big glasses and the bandeau?”
the pop-star instinctively ran her hand over the silk cloth. “i’m undercover.”
“in a vuitton bandeau and driving a benz? hate to break it to you, but that’s not how you go undercover. does your team hate you or something?”
“wouldn’t be surprised.” she muttered under her breath. “anyways, how do you know my name, smartass?”
“i’m ethan landry, nice to meet you.” he extended his hand for a shake and his calloused fingers met hers. to his surprise, they were calloused as well, and then he remembered that y/n played way too many instruments so it made sense. “my parents are friends of yours, they asked me to check if you’d arrived safely and to help you settle.”
“oh, that’s nice of you. thank you.” y/n smiled gently.
“no problem at all. at your service, ma’am.” he jokingly tipped his cowboy hat.
y/n laughed. “nice hat, want to exchange?”
ethan scoffed. “get that overpriced thing away from me, i’d rather stay true to my roots.”
“whatever, cowboy. are you going to introduce me to this gorgeous creature?” she eyed the horse with soft eyes.
“i already told you, my name’s ethan.” he winked, making her roll her eyes. but the boy was charming, there was not denying that. “this is my horse, pegasus, and his favourite song of yours is white horse.”
her shoulders shook with laughter and ethan’s heart skipped a beat. that sound was as angelic as her voice. but he quickly locked those thoughts away, he could not go there. she was not only here for a short period of time, she was also beyond untouchable.
“hi, pegasus. aren’t you the cutest horse ever? yes, you are.” she baby-talked the gigantic animal while petting him. “i love your name.” the horse made a sound and the next thing she knew, he licked the side of her face. “aww! it’s nice to meet you too. you’re as charming as your owner, huh?”
“thanks for the compliment but i’m not going to lick your face.” ethan joked, but he was screaming from the inside.
y/n sighed, feigning disappointment. “well, i tried.”
they got to know each other a bit more as ethan helped her get settled in the house, which he knew like the back of his hand because he was the reason why the house looked good as new. her parents payed him to clean the house and take care of the garden.
“well, i’ll leave you to start getting familiar with your new home for the time being. i wrote down my number and sticked it to the fridge. you can call me or text me any time, i live five minutes away so it’s no inconvenience for me. don’t hesitate to reach out, okay? whether you need help with something or if you need a friend to talk to.”
a friend. that sounded so nice. her so called friends from the city let go of her hand as soon as the drama unfolded, not giving her a chance to explain. they didn’t even ask what happened, they just disappeared. they discarded her once her reputation went down the drain.
“hey…” he said softly. she met his gaze and the look in her eyes splitter his heart. he lived in a small town and even though he wasn’t on the phone that much, he didn’t live under a rock. ethan knew the reason behind her escapade, and because of his parents’ friendship with y/n’s family, he knew all those things the singer said about her were fabricated and far from real. “the truth will come out. it always does. you’re allowed to feel sad, and angry, and whatever you’re feeling, but don’t let them bring you down.”
“they already did. my career might be over, everyone hates me, the record is thinking about letting me go because i don’t bring them a good image anymore, i have no friends left. they made me ran away from my home, ethan. i can’t even defend myself because they’re so filled of hatred that they won’t hear my side of the story.”
“so you don’t play the part of the victim, even though you are one. you gather all the awful things they’re saying about you and laugh it off. make it your brand. they can’t use it against you if you embrace the hate.” he said all of those things, and he truly believed it. but at the same time, he had the urge to bring him into his arms and secure her from the outside world.
she pressed her lips in a thin line “that sounds great, ethan. but i don’t know if i can do that.”
he nodded in understanding “and that’s normal. the wounds are still raw, but you’ll get there eventually, because you cannot let them win.”
“you’re kinda wise, cowboy.” she finally smiled.
“thank you, super star. maybe in your next album you can mention a hot cowboy who helped you see reason.”
“oh, do you know any hot cowboys? introduce me please.” she teased him.
ethan gritted his teeth. he did not like the image of her with someone else at all. he had met her two hours ago and he was already having possessive thoughts. ethan was definitely not going to survive y/n. he feared she already had him under her spell. after all, her funny comebacks and soft heart were impossible to resist.
“nah. you already have the best combo in town, the hottest, most charming cowboy—me—, and his sweet sidekick—pegasus.”
y/n shook her head in amusement “you’re so full of yourself.” but she couldn’t deny that she agreed with him.
“more like aware of myself.”
“i don’t know how that hat fits in that big head of yours.”
“it’s custom made, darling.” he winked.
“and pretty ugly, too. here, let me help.” she took off her bandeau and wrapped it around his hat. “now you’re a fancy cowboy.”
“i’m going to be the town’s biggest disappointment.” yet, he didn’t take it off. “i really have to go, but let’s do something tomorrow, okay? maybe i can show you around town.”
she smiled like the cheshire cat. “can i ride a horse?”
“sure, we can borrow my sisters’”
“yay! can’t wait. see you tomorrow, ethan.”
“it’s fancy cowboy for you, super star.” he winked and then left the house.
as she watched both pegasus and ethan disappear from her sight, she realized it had been months since the last time she had smiled so genuinely. and even though she had been in this town for a couple of hours, she already decided it was the best decision she could’ve made.
as soon as ethan caught sight of y/n standing in the porch, he smiled like a little kid. she was adorable, with a basket in hand, short overalls and cowboy boots and excitement lighting up her face.
“dressed for the occasion, i see.” ethan said.
“like it?” she asked, doing a little turn.
“you look gorgeous, y/n.” he answered softly making the singer blush. “though, there’s something missing to complete the outfit.” her curious eyes met his, and he simply smiled as he took a cowboy hat from his bag. he put it on y/n’s head and hummed in content. “now we’re talking.”
“i love it! thank you so much!” y/n didn’t even think before jumping and throwing her arms around his slim waist.
“you’re very welcome.” he murmured, hugging her back. her figure felt so perfect against his, like puzzle pieces. “what’s on the basket?”
“i made cupcakes, a cheesecake and sandwiches. i was thinking we could stop to have a little picnic.”
“that sounds very nice. i know a spot by the lake.“
y/n admired her surroundings. the sun reflecting on the lake, the green grass, the quietness, the tall trees, the animals living so freely. she felt so at ease, not needing to be in high alert for invasive paparazzis or overstepping fans.
“a penny for your thoughts?” ethan asked, curious about what thoughts had her smiling so big.
“it feels so good not being under scrutiny. no hunters with cellphones at sight, i feel so fucking light.”
“you don’t miss the city?” he asked curiously.
“not even a bit.” she answered truthfully. “when the drama began, i realized i have nothing there.“
“what about your friends? boyfriend? girlfriend?”
“no boyfriend or girlfriend.” thank god, ethan screamed internally. “and all my supposed friends turned into smoke. being friends with a liar is not good for their image, and that’s the whole reason why they hung out with me i now realize.”
“fuckers.” he spat angrily. “when your next album breaks all the records they’re going to came back with their tails between their legs and you’re going to laugh at their faces.”
how could someone she had met less than a day ago make her feel so much? “you’re setting the bar too high for my next album. what if it ends up sucking and you have to eat your words?”
he shrugged “easy, you just have to work your ass off so my ego isn’t hurt by not being right.”
“working hard is the way of making a good album? damn, i would’ve never thought of doing that!” they exclaimed sarcastically.
“lucky you met me, then.”
jokes aside, y/n really was lucky. the soft spot on her heart was slowly becoming reserved for him. feelings were already blooming and there’s nothing she could do to stop it.
she really liked how funny he was and god, she was part of hollywood yet she had never encountered someone more breathtakingly beautiful than ethan landry. but the way he constantly made her believe that she could truly get her reputation back? the way he truly had faith in her? that’s what made her certain he was the best of the best.
“would you…” he started the question, then hesitated. y/n raised her eyebrows, urging him to keep going. “would you consider leaving the city to move here?”
“right now? i would say yes, i’d really consider it. but that’s because in l.a everyone is going to shove a camera in my face and ask questions and i wouldn’t be able to go out without hate being thrown at me.”
ethan nodded. “yeah, that makes sense.”
“i guess time will tell.”
“maybe i’ll have to make sure to give you endless reason to stay.”
she had a feeling it wouldn’t take too much work. besides, him living there was enough reason to make her stay.
six months had gone by. everyone wondered where y/n was, if she was going to drop new music, if she was going to show her face, activate her social media again, if she was going to address the drama and explain her side of the story in detail. everyone speculated that she was drowning in her own misery—which they agreed she deserved for being a liar and manipulator—, they had no idea she was going better than she ever had. or that she had just finished writing her comeback album.
“this is amazing, y/n.” ethan said when he finished reading one of the songs. “everyone’s going to love it.”
they were currently sitting in y/n’s living room, just right by the fireplace. they had brought down her mattress and made a fort with the covers and pillows. ethan had begged her to show some of the songs, and she accepted. she was not showing him the ones she had written about him, though.
“i don’t know about that.” she shook her head. “anyways, i’m not doing it to be liked again. i guess the only reason i’m dropping this album is because i don’t want to keep my side of the story to myself. if i want to close this chapter of my life, everything needs to be let out. and i also want my remaining fans to know.”
“you don’t want your career back? you deserve it. you’ve worked so hard to get the spot you had before that jealous prick ruined it.” ethan spat with hatred. honestly, at this point he was more angered by the whole thing than her. it made her heart melt, the way he cared about her.
“i do want my career back, but i don’t want it to be the center of my world anymore. i’ve found other things that brings me joy, too. i don’t want to let go of them.”
ethan pushed himself up on one elbow and looked down at her. “and… what are those things?” he asked hope invading his chest.
“picnics next to the lake, taking care of farm animals, riding horses while watching the sunset, just… enjoying my life with no pressure.“ she spoke, then shoot her gaze up, meeting his. “but mostly, i enjoy doing those things with you. having you in this house, making dinner with you, baking, making forts, dancing around the kitchen… you make me want to leave my old life behind.”
ethan smiled and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “there’s nothing i’d love more than for you to stay here with me, but i’d never ask you to give your career up.”
“i know. i know you wouldn’t, and that’s why i like you so much. you’ve been supportive since the beginning. you’re the main reason this album is going to exist. not only because you were my muse, but also because you gave me the strength to want to get my career back.”
“y-your muse? what are you talking about?”
“i only showed you two songs, the album is going to have around sixteen songs. those i showed you are about the drama, but… the concept is going to be about how finding love got me through the drama.”
“finding love? you…?” he would’ve been embarrassed of his high pitched voice if he weren’t so shocked by her choice of word.
she nodded softly, and eyed him hesitantly, trying to figure out if she’d read the signs wrong. next thing y/n knew was ethan rolling on top of her and his soft lips pressing against hers. “i love you. i love you. i love you.”
“i love you, too.” she kissed him back. “eth?” he hummed. “what do you think about the basement?” she asked, making him blink in confusion.
“the basement?”
“yeah, do you think it would be a cool place to build my little recording room?”
his jaw fell open. “what are you saying?”
she traces his face features with her fingertips “i’m saying that i’m moving here. and there’s no way i’m driving to L.A everyday to record the album, i would get too tired and i’d miss you too much.”
“we could move to your apartment until you finish.” he suggested.
“you would move to the city for me?” she asked, getting a bit emotional.
his eyes sparkled. “i would do anything for you.”
“you’re so fucking sweet, but you don’t need to move. i really want to move here, for good. i would probably have to drive a few times a month for important meetings or for interviews, but this is my home. both you and this town.”
he had no words, he simply kissed her softly and then hid his warm face on the crook of her neck. after a long, peaceful silence, he finally asked. “can i read those love songs?”
y/n smiled. “why don’t i play them for you?”
“this is the best day of my fucking life. don’t move, i’ll get your guitar.” he quickly got off her and ran up the stairs like an over-excited puppy.
y/n couldn’t believe what a turn her life has done. a couple of months ago she wished to have a time machine to avoid that call that turned her life into hell. now, she found herself feeling grateful that happened. not only she felt stronger but it also showed her the fake world she had blindly been living in. and most importantly, it brought her to ethan, and she would go through hell thousands of times for him.

Just the two of us... 🎶☕
You work at a coffee shop and once Hamzah notices you, he becomes a regular.
Word count: 1295.
!hamzah x fem reader.
Part 1/3:
It's a cloudy autumn afternoon, the streets of Toronto are covered in orange and brown dried leaves, the wind is blowing a chilly breeze and the sound of people flood the streets.
Hamzah wants a change of environment, he's in the middle of moving and the mess at home is too overwhelming to come up with new ideas for podcast episodes, so he decides to go out looking for somewhere he could sit down and work. He takes his backpack, packs his laptop, airpods, a notebook, wallet, keys and he's off to the city. After walking around downtown for a few minutes, he comes across this coffee shop he's never been to before, -this place looks comfy and quiet enough… And there's free wifi- he thinks to himself before going inside.
He takes a quick glance at the menu and walks up to the counter. "Welcome! What can I get you?" the barista asks, "Umm just a capuccino and a chocolate donut" (pretty basic) Hamzah replies. "Okay, you can take a seat and we'll get it to you”. "Thanks!" -What a nice guy- he thinks as he sits down on a brown armchair in the corner of the shop. He pulls out his laptop and places it on the table in front of him while he waits for his order. Immediately he feels a rush of ideas and gets straight to work, he's completely immerse into his screen until he hears a voice that snaps him out of focus… "Here you go sir! let me know if you need anything else :D"… And in that moment he forgot his own name, your eyes locked and he couldn't help but notice every detail on this girl's face, your eyes, your lashes, the freckles on the bridge of your nose, everything, he then realized he's staring way too much "I… Uh- thanks." It's all he managed to say. "No problem!" You say with a smile, the most beautiful smile he's ever seen, he looks for a nametag on your apron as you walk away, unable to see one.
Your pov: You're home getting ready for work, incense is lit, music is on, and you're taking your sweet time, you reeeaaaally dont want to go to work, you have another job during the weekdays, one you really enjoy but you need the extra cash, and your coworkers are pretty cool. It's a fun job, before you realize (you guessed it) you're late. You quickly grab your uniform and shove it in your bag and you're out the door. You manage to get there just in time and say 'hi' to Ethan, your coworker working the counter, and he waves at you while he takes this guy's order. You walk to the back to put on your apron and realize you forgot your nametag, "whatever" you brush it off, as you make your way to the front, there's an order in the display system screen waiting for you, a capuccino and a simple chocolate donut,-What a basic order- you thought, "Who's this for?" You asked Ethan, "It's that guy's over there on his computer" he said. You walked over to him and put his order down next to his laptop, carefully, trying not to spill anything "Here you go sir! let me know if you need anything else :D". He immediately looked up and your eyes locked, -Oh, he's cute- you thought to yourself, still smiling. "I… Uh- thanks." He bluntly said -…Maybe I stared too much- You were starting to overthink "No problem!" you stopped your train of thought and walked away.
You continued doing your job, not thinking much about the interaction you had with the cute guy, ocassionaly exchanging glances with him, he only got up once to buy a water bottle, you wonder what he’s working on, he seems around your age, maybe he’s a student writing a paper for an important class, or a writer working on his new novel, or a crypto guy checking stocks or whatever crypto guys do. A couple hours go by and your coworkers already clocked out as it's your turn to close the shop. It's 10pm now and you're starting to clean around, getting the shop ready for tomorrow morning when you realize there's still a customer left, a guy sitting on a brown armchair in the corner, the cute guy, still working on his laptop, you walk over to him
"Hey, just to let you know we'll be closing in 15 minutes" -"Oh! shit sorry, I didn't even realize I was the only one left." "No worries haha you seem busy, I didn't mean to interrupt". -"It's okay, I'm almost done, sorry again" "No problem, I'm just tidying around, do you mind if I play some music?" -"Not at all! Go ahead".
You connect your phone to the speakers spread around the shop and put on your favorite playlist, Just The Two Of us by Grover Washington, Jr starts playing as you sweep the floors. -Damn she's pretty AND she has good music taste- is all that goes through Hamzah's head as he takes a sip of water. He tries to hurry up and get his work done but his eyes keep drifting away from his screen on to the barista, the way she moves with the beat of the song, how her necklace sits on her neck, he wonders how long she’s worked there, if she’s read the books they have on the bookshelves, or if they’re just for decoration, she catches him staring and gives him an upside down smile, there’s no way to make it seem like he wasn’t looking at her, the embarrassment is enough to get his eyes back to his screen.
It's 10:35 now, you we're supposed to close 5 minutes ago, but the guy sitting in the corner is glued to his laptop, you don't want to interrupt, plus the shop is never this calm, the weather is nice, the delicious coffee smell mixed with the mint scented surface disinfectant you use to wipe the counters, music still playing, you could stay there all night. A couple more minutes go by and, at this point, you're just killing time waiting for him to finish. "Ugh finally" He mutters, his eyes wander around his screen until he sees the clock 10:46pm "Shit. She probably hates me now". He packs his stuff and gets up, ready to leave, as he walks to the exit he sees you, sitting down on a red couch reading a book, you look so peaceful, the light from the lamp next to you hits your face in just the right spots, your hair messier than before and your eyes focused on the words in the yellowish paper your fingers caress. He’s mesmerized by the view, he could stay there all night, but it’s time to go. "Hey! I'm really sorry I took so long, thank you for everything, I'm leaving now". "Bye!" you tiredly wave at him, not really paying much attention.
You lock the doors and head to the back to change your clothes, you can't wait to get home and take a warm shower, eat your leftovers from lunch and get some rest, as you turn the lights off you notice the guy forgot a notebook on the table he was working at, a black hard cover notebook full of scribbles, the first thing you saw as you opened it was a chinese proverb written down on red ink “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”. You thought all you needed to know about him was in those pages, so you stopped yourself from reading past the first one, and put it back down to text Ethan in case he came back to pick it up the next morning.
This is my first time writing, hope anyone likes it :)

boys a liar
pairing: ethan landry x female!reader
WC: 3.5K
warnings: SPOILERS (tho you already know cause of the gif), cursing, (back)stabbing, blood. should be it!
summary: he said he would always protect you, he just never said anything about it being from him.
A/N: i got inspired by a charlie walker (scream4) edit where he was shushing kirby after he stabbed her. also don’t think tooo hard about the stab/blood loss logistics. it’s fictional.
been in the drafts since march 21
masterlist / ethan landry
Everything was in chaos. The trap for ghost face instantly goes south, like they usually do.
Kirby disappeared a minute after arriving at the theater leaving your group, Sam, Tara, Chad, you, and Ethan on your own. Unintentionally everyone split up, Chad and Tara going one way, and Sam another way, which left you and Ethan on your own.
The two of you decided to head to the balcony and sit near the railing. The second Ethan sat next to you, you leaned your head on his shoulder and slipped your hand into his, and gave a firm squeeze. Your heart was beating loudly in your ears, it was the only noise you could hear besides your breathing and Ethan’s with his puffs of air ruffling over your hair. Your eyes just stared blankly in front of you, the black robes of ghost faces past in your direct line of sight.
“I don’t like this.” An opinion you’ve withheld. You felt Ethan shifting his head, “I told you to stay home.” “Yeah, but my chances of getting killed would have been a lot bigger if I was separated. Plus I want to make sure you and everyone else are safe as well, we’re all making it out of this mess alive.” You squeezed his hand tighter before bringing it to your lips and kissing his knuckles.
The feeling of Ethan kissing your head made you feel just a bit lighter. You moved your head off his shoulder and stared into his warm brown eyes, his soft gaze fluttering your heart. With your free hand, you cupped his cheek and leaned in with your eyes drooping close, Ethan meeting you halfway. His plush lips were a simple touch of skin before he tilted just a bit, his nose pillowing into your cheek. Your lips moved in a simplistic dance, nothing heating up, just wanting to enjoy each other during a blissful moment of peace before an incoming storm tears it down.
You pulled away first, needing to catch your breath. Your lips were still close, noses bumping into each other and both smiled at the action. Your fingers danced over Ethan’s skin, feeling the texture and bumps, wanting to absorb it all into your skin.
“It’s gonna be fine, sweetheart. I won’t let anything happen to you.” His voice was low, a whisper to your lips. He ran his thumb over your hand. You peered through your lashes at him, “I know you’re lying, but thank you.” You couldn’t guarantee your safety, or anyone else’s. You rather keep your expectations low.
You fully pulled away from Ethan, his eyes watching your every move. You looked over the balcony and saw no one around, it caused worry to fester.
“We should probably regroup with the others,” you stood from your seat and turned to the stairs, but a hand wrapped around your wrist stopped you in your tracks and you looked over your shoulder, “I meant it. Everything is gonna be fine.” Ethan’s puppy dog eyes which would usually melt your insides and weaken your knees only caused a chill over your skin.
“Okay. I trust you.”
How you wish you could retract that statement.
-
The both of you checked different rooms of the theater, not finding Kirby or Sam. You found Tara and Chad… as they were kissing. You started to walk quietly out of the room when a blur of motion caught your attention.
“Look out!” You screamed, but it was no use as Tara got stabbed in the back by ghost face, Chad holding her body.
Ghost face pulled the knife out and just as he was preparing for another stab you rushed at him and grabbed his arm. The two of you struggled for the upper hand. He grabbed at your hair and yanked it causing your head to bend backward harshly making a yelp fall from your mouth. Being distracted by the tight pull of your hair, your hands loosened their grip on his arm and he took the opportunity to stab the knife into your stomach making you cry even louder. To make matters worse, he started to pull the knife down, ripping apart your muscle and skin tissue. You felt like you could pass out in a blink.
You heard someone scream your name and then you fell to the floor and the knife was yanked out, and your chest heaved for a steady breath. Your body was shaking and you touched a finger to your wound and it was instantly coated in slick blood. Your head was starting to get woozy, black dots were spotting your vision and the ground felt like it was being tipped like you were on a rocking boat in a rocky sea. A warm feeling graced your stomach and back, a breeze kissed your cheek and tickled your ear and if you could focus enough you could hear whimpers and pleading for you.
A hard press to your abdomen made you jerk forward from the floor and squeeze your eyes shut from pain. Your heart was beating frantically and your skin was feeling clammy, tiny sweat drops hitting your eye. Your hands clawed at the person’s hands and arms as they applied more pressure to stop the bleeding. You fluttered your eyes open, trying to keep yourself from slipping into the darkness and to see who was with you. Curly brunette hair was your answer.
“E- Ethan…” you groaned as he pushed harder, “stop, stop, stop! It hurts! You're hurting me!” Tears fell from the corner of your eyes as you tried pushing Ethan away.
“I know, I know, but I have to stop you from bleeding out. Sweetheart, please, come on. Hey, hey, just- just look at me, okay? Just look at me, let me see those eyes I love so much.” His voice was wavering every few words. You laid your head down on the floor, you still don’t know where in the theater, your eyes staring up at the ceiling as you gripped Ethan’s hands in a comforting way.
You didn’t want to die. You made it out of Woodsboro with the twins and the Carpenter sisters, but maybe this was some twisted thing from the universe. Only the siblings get to live in this new franchise, as Mindy would put it. You didn’t want to die. You wanted to live a normal life, not have to watch your back for the rest of your life just because someone was obsessed with horror movies and given ideas by the killers. You didn’t want to die. You wanted more time with your boyfriend, Ethan. The two of you only dated a few months, but you wanted years with him, a lifetime with him.
“I- I don’t wa- want to die… Ethan. Pl- Please.” You choked on sobs and it only caused more pain to flare up.
“It’s gonna be okay, it’ll be over soon. You just need to hold on a little longer.” He moved a hand from your stomach and caressed your cheek, the feeling of your blood touching your skin making the intimate gesture vile.
There was something within his eyes that flickered like a switch. One minute he was looking at you like you painted stars in the sky and the next it was like he was looking at the person he hated most in the worst, a nasty grimace tugging at his beautiful lips.
The hand touching your cheek slipped down and down until it wrapped around your throat and squeezed, tight. Air immediately was cut off and you grabbed at his wrist and tried to pull him away, but he was a lot stronger and in stable condition. You felt his other hand move away but you didn’t notice how he grabbed something from behind him and kept it away from your eye line. He leaned in close, his breath skating across your redding face. You pushed a hand into his face, but he pushed it into the ground and you winched from an unknown object pressing into your wrist.
“You know, (Y/n), I just wanted you to know you were my first girlfriend. And it was a real pleasure for me, first kiss at a party while slightly tipsy, classic. First intimate time together while watching a movie, another classic. Also thank you for taking my virginity, you were lovely.” He sighed, “Honestly… I don’t think anyone after you will be topped. An added bonus, you survived the Woodsboro killings, like come on!” You continue to struggle in his hold as he speaks to your face.
“You know, it was my sister's idea- try and get someone to fall for me. A good killer always has a love interest. And I’ll also be honest… I really like you, maybe even love you, but you have a purpose to fulfill. Along with everyone else.”
“Wha- What is- Fuck you!” “Such a pretty face with a vulgar mouth.” He squeezed tighter and even shook your head. “Now, where was- oh! Right! Well, we’ve reached the third act, as Mindy would say and so it’s time to make some killings.”
In a flash, a blinding heat crept up your side and you tried to gasp for air you couldn’t retrieve. You scratched and clawed at Ethan’s arm just for a simple gulp of air. The pain only worsened when he twisted, you assume a knife, in your side making the spots come back.
He removed his hand just as you were about to pass out and he pulled the knife out before going back in. You screamed and cried, the pain only amplified by the person causing it. You stopped fighting, your will to live slipping from your buttery fingers.
“Shush, shush, it’s okay. Everything is okay.” Ethan cooed in your ear as he stroked your hair from your damp skin. You don’t know what was worse, that he was comforting you just as he stabbed you and broke your heart or that you enjoyed the tiny hint of the other Ethan.
He dropped the bloody knife beside you and held your face between his hands, gentle as always, and he kissed your forehead. You eye the knife and make small moves inching closer. He moved from your forehead to your nose to your right cheek then your left. He pulled just an inch or two away as he looked into your blurry eyes, his thumbs stroking your sweaty skin. At this moment you decided to indulge in the sweet kisses, needing just something, anything. So as Ethan leaned back in you closed your eyes, hand closing around the knife hilt, and got swept away by the familiar rhythm of kissing your boyfriend. Soft and slow, taking all the time in the world to just memorize each other before pulling away.
“You could have been spared if you didn’t help kill him.” He whispered to your lips. His breath hit your wet and parted lips. “Him? Who’s him?” “My brother.” He sighed.
Your brows furrowed, “bro- brother? You- you said he died in -“ “oh, you sweet dumb thing. I’ll spell it out for you. Richie.” Your eyes widened.
“He- he and Amber- they tried to kill us! For a- a- a stupid movie! It was self-defense!”
“And what we’re doing as a family is getting revenge. Hope you understand, sweetheart.”
Your nostrils flared as you got a tight grip and looked directly into his eyes with a straight smile, “and this is just self-defense.” The blade sunk into the meat of Ethan’s side and it pushed him off your body and to the floor beside you. “Hope you understand,” you voiced his words back as you scrambled away, your body screaming at you to stop. Your adrenaline is the only thing keeping you upright.
-
You weren’t sure where you were running to, turning corners, and being met with a locked door before you had to retrace your steps and go a different route. You found yourself stumbling back into the snack area of the theater and you whimpered as you found Chad lying on the floor with blood coating his Blackmore university hoodie. You wanted to walk to him and check if he was breathing but Tara and Sam were missing and you hadn’t run into Kirby yet.
With a shot of pain and blood spilling with each step, you pushed forward. A hand pressed to the wall was your anchor as you traveled back to the shrine, hoping you’ll find someone alive and not the killer. As you got closer to where you remembered the main theater was, you could hear voices talking, overlapping, or yelling over each other.
As you turned a final corner you peered into the room making sure you were still hidden in the shadows for now. The glass boxes blocked the view but you could see the backs of Sam and Tara, their heads moving as the people around them spoke. You looked further into the room and gasped. Detective Bailey stood with two ghost faces beside him, masks still on their faces. You already knew who one of them was, Ethan, the one with a hand to their side. But the second one you couldn’t think of who, it couldn’t have been Mindy… it just couldn’t have…. could it?
“Mindy?” You heard Sam voice your thoughts after Ethan pulled his mask away. How his face and smile still made your heart thump rapidly.
The final killer revealed themself, “Quinn?” Tara was flabbergasted as was Sam and you along with them as you decided to make yourself known. Probably a bad idea, but you were losing brain cells the longer you bled out, and your decision-making wasn’t the wisest at the moment.
On shaky legs, you made your way to your friends. With a glance to the ground you saw Kirby, beaten and bloody, but her chest was moving so that was a relief. A bloody hand touched each glass case as you walked further, needing all the help to push forward.
“Ah, I was wondering where she went. Seems Ethan already had some fun with her.” “Well, I was the first to get her since she intervened with Tara and Chad.”
Sam and Tara turned your way and the looks on their faces made you feel a bit of relief to know they were worried about you just as you were with them. Tara made her way to you but was stopped by Ethan who stood in front of you and swung the knife in front of her like she was a feral animal.
“Don’t! Don’t touch her, only I can touch her.” He kept the knife held high as he rounded yourself and threw an arm over your stomach and pulled you into his chest. A grunt came out from the impact. His solid frame and weight were a nice wall to keep you upright, so you leaned your head against his collarbones and held his arm as you slumped a bit.
“See. She wants me, always.” “She’s fucking bleeding out, dumbass!” Tara yelled at him as she kept her eyes on you.
“Well, Quinn got a bit too aggressive-“ “Fuck off, lover boy.” “- And I stabbed her two times. But she’s a survivor, she already survived a few stabbings in Woodsboro.” He kissed your temple and in your haze, you smiled at the touch. “She can survive a few more.”
“What the fuck do you even want from us? Can’t you horror freaks leave us the hell alone?” Sam sneered at the three.
“This isn’t about movies. Not a fan of the genre, but my oldest fell in love with them. He wanted to make his own Stab movie since he said the last one wasn't like the originals. But he died before he could, his death is on your hands.” Bailey pointed his gun at Sam.
“Wh- what the hell are you talking about?”
“Ri- Richie.” You muttered out since you knew the answer to her question.
“What does Richie-“ “He was our brother, you fucking bitch.” Quinn pushed Sam in the chest causing her to stumble backward into a display.
“E- Ethan… p-please,” you slid down his chest, his arms holding you tight as your knees touched the floor and he placed your head in his lap. “You’ll be okay sweetheart. After all this we’ll get you to the hospital, I can make an exception for you.” His black glove stroked your cheek. He moved from under you and laid you down between displays and that’s when you passed out.
-
You felt like you were thrown under a bus and driven over multiple times. Loud beeps echoed in your ears and you wished to block them out but you couldn’t lift your arms without your muscles aching. You tried prying your eyes open, they felt heavy and crusty, your lashes fluttering in your vision. The white light of the room hurt your head and you hissed at the brightness.
You were able to move your head from side to side to look around the hospital room. You were met with Sam hunched over her lap as she twiddled with her fingers, as her hair covered her face.
“S- Sam.” Your cracked voice called out to her making her head jerk up, a smile came to her lips and her eyes were shining.
“Oh thank god. We thought- you passed out as the three of them went after us. I shot Quinn and Killed Bailey…”
“And Ethan?” “Tara stabbed him through the mouth and then somehow he lived to run at us before Kirby pushed a TV onto his head.” She rolled her lips and looked at her hands that rested atop your bedding next to your thigh.
“Oh.” You don’t know what you expected to hear. A part of you was glad that Ethan was dead, he tried to kill you and your friends. But… you’ll miss him. It was like you saw him as two different people. Ethan Landry was sweet and gentle, soft-spoken and smart, and a bit awkward around girls. And then this Ethan… if he was related to Bailey and Quinn, then he was Ethan Bailey in that theater. Getting revenge for his brother no matter what the consequences are, stabbing you and taunting you, using your love for him against you.
“I’m sorry.” Sam touched your arm. “For what,” you shrugged your shoulders and played with a loose string from the blanket.
“That the boy you loved used it against you and manipulated you. After- after what happened in Woodsboro… you were so quiet, closed off. You barely let the four of us in and it scared us. But when Chad started to bring Ethan around and more comfortable with the group… We saw you slowly let your guard down. And I can’t be one to judge, I always have my guard up and I’ll fully be on your side if your wall goes back up as well. It was just really nice to see you be a bit free, enjoying life with a boy you liked and hanging with your friends in a new city.”
The tears rolled from your eyes and down your cheeks silently as you listened to Sam’s words. Ethan helped you be comfortable with yourself again and he just broke it all over again.
“The universe hates us, doesn't it?” You laughed through the tears and Sam joined in, agreeing with you, “but it’s making us stronger. For what? I have no fucking clue.”
You wiped away the salty water, “uh, where’s- where’s Tara and Mindy? Did- Did Chad live?”
“Everyone is alive. Mindy and Tara are with Chad right now since he woke up before you. But I can go get them if you want?” She started to pull away, “no, no. I’m fine with just the two of us for now.” You didn’t want to be alone for even a second.
“Why don’t you go back to sleep? You could use some more rest.” She pushed the hair away from your face, a motherly, sisterly gesture that warmed your heart.
You complied and shuffled around in the tiny bed and closed your eyes. You hoped to dream of warm afternoons, a cool breeze that tangled your hair and kissed your cheeks. You hoped for a nice place in New York with your friends- your family, all of you laughing and dancing around as music played in the background. You dreamed of a fantasy far away in your mind of a tall boy with fluffy hair and gentle eyes, how he would smile at you sickly sweet like honey and he would open his arms for you to run into and give you tight squeezes. He would leave kisses over your face before diving into your lips and melding them together before letting his tongue slip in and his hands would hold your neck as he pushed further. You would pull away just to catch a breath and you both would giggle like school children before you tucked your face into his neck and you would mumble the words into his skin.
“I love you”

Hey guys! It's been busy, and I have not been feeling good about writing much lately, but I have a few Smuttember requests I wanted to get done. This is the first one, based on this ask, jealousy for Ethan x Kaycee. Thanks for the ask, Nonny. I hope you enjoy it.
Book: Open Heart (Book 2 Timeline) Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x Kaycee MacClennan (F!MC), Tobias Carrick, Clarissa Stanton (F!OC) Rating: Mature Words: 2,500 ish Summary: Everyone is crazy about the new addition to the team. Dr. Clarissa Stanton is a rising star in the medical community, and Edenbrook is lucky to have her. She seems to warm up to everyone, well... almost everyone... and there is someone she's warming up to a little too much, and it's not sitting well with Kaycee. See how it all works out.
A/N: Participating in @choicesprompts Smuttember. #27 Jealousy, but also #17, Reclaiming, too. I didn't have much time to edit - so forgive errors. :)
“Dr. Stanton, please report to the Diagnostic Team office. Dr. Stanton, Diagnostic Team office.”
It was innocent enough. Just one of the dozens of announcements heard over the PA system at Edenbrook Hospital on any given day. It shouldn’t have caused any alarm, but these days, just the mention of Dr. Stanton’s name made Kaycee’s blood turn cold. She clenched the pencil in her hand so tightly that it snapped in half, taking her and a nurse standing nearby by surprise.
“Dr. MacClennan,” the nurse smiled. “What did that pencil ever do to you?”
Kaycee replied with a pleasant smile, attributing the pencil assault to a lack of sleep and voluminous quantities of caffeine, but she knew that wasn't the truth. The innocent pencil was collateral damage in the cold war taking place between her and Dr. Clarissa Stanton, a war Kaycee was growing tired of.
Clarissa was a new fellow at Edenbrook. She had come to them from “the most distinguished residency program in the U.S.,” as Ethan reminded everyone. Daily. “It was quite the coup for us to land her,” he had told the diagnostic team triumphantly as Tobias made an off-color comment about 'landing.' Kaycee had heard of her; of course, her research had been the talk of the medical community for the past couple of years, and she was excited to have the opportunity to work together. Still, Tobias’s comment piqued her interest, so she quickly Googled her name.
Kaycee raised a brow when she saw the image load on her phone. Clarissa was striking – a face that looked like the girl next door if the girl next door had been a teenage model. Long, light brown hair and big, brown eyes that managed to be innocent and sultry at the same time. Her LinkedIn photo showed her propped up on a desk, her legs crossed and wholly swallowed up by her lab coat. There wasn’t a skirt in sight.
She would definitely have to warn her new colleague about Tobias, but none of this mattered. What mattered was Dr. Stanton’s research on off-label use of psychotropic medications, which had led to breakthroughs in more conditions than Kaycee could recall. What mattered was the impassioned testimony she had made before Congress recently, which landed her in the news cycle for weeks on end. She was a rising star... a once-in-a-generation talent. And because God clearly played favorites, of course, she was beautiful too.
Later that day, Kaycee had lunch with Tobias, and she warned her friend to keep things professional and don’t dare scare her away. Little did Kaycee know that the beautiful newcomer was one of the few women on the planet who were immune to the charms of one Dr. Carrick. No, Clarissa had made it clear from day one that she had her sights set on someone else.
She had a friendly, approachable demeanor, bordering on flirtatious, and she assimilated into both the team and the hospital with ease. Her well-earned air of confidence sometimes bordered on arrogance, but she was charming enough that no one seemed to care. Clarissa was impressive, and everyone was smitten. She seemed happy to be a friend to all, with one exception. Kaycee.
It wasn’t for Kaycee’s lack of trying. In fact, she had to stop herself from fangirling when the new doctor first arrived. But while Clarissa ate up attention from others, when it came to Kaycee, she seemed annoyed and did her best to distance herself.
When Kaycee pointed this out, even to her best friends, they insisted Kaycee was imagining things as they, too, were taken in. She resigned herself to being the sole outsider in the Dr. Stanton fan society, but she could still learn from her, and they could still work together. There was no way Kaycee wouldn’t be supportive of another up-and-coming woman in the medical field; they faced enough and needed to stick together. But there was one thing Kaycee couldn’t continue to ignore.
“There she is!” The normally curmudgeonly Dr. Ramsey beamed when Clarissa appeared for the team’s morning meeting. “And what brilliant theories are you going to grace us with today, Dr. Stanton?”
Kaycee snapped another pencil in half under the desk. Tobias, the only one who noticed, raised a brow. Leaning in close, he whispered, “Pencils are no longer safe in your presence, MacClennan. What gives?”
She ignored him, but she couldn’t ignore the way Clarissa hovered close to Ethan throughout their rounds- again - today. Or the way she asked questions and made comments that felt just a little too… familiar. She watched as Clarissa’s hand lingered on Ethan’s shoulder just a little longer than it should and bit her lip when she erupted in laughter every time Ethan cracked a joke... bad jokes.
Still, Kaycee kept it together. She was a professional, after all, and she had nothing to worry about. Her relationship with Ethan was solid, even if their relationship was a secret to ninety percent of the planet. Her residency was ending in just months, he reminded her constantly, and they’d be Instagram official very soon. But right now, a few months felt like decades away.
That day turned out to be particularly grueling. Kaycee had been assigned to work in oncology with a miserable attending who did everything they could to undermine her at every step of the way. If that weren't enough, she learned the case she had been working on for the past week, the one she knew she was close to breaking, was miraculously solved by none other than Ethan and Clarissa by way of two doctors discussing it in the third-floor lounge where she had gone for a moment of refuge.
“You should have seen them working together,” one doctor said. “It was seamless – like they could read each other’s minds.”
The second doctor concurred. “They have the makings of a medical power couple for sure. Edenbrook is already on the map, but they could make it the favored destination.”
Kaycee swallowed hard. That stung... a lot.
She decided to check in on one more patient before she left for the day. Mrs. Withers was just the ray of sunshine Kaycee needed right now, always bright and cheerful no matter what was taking place. Kaycee needed some of that magic to lift her spirits, and it worked... temporarily. She was about to step out of Mrs. Wither’s room when she heard their voices in the hall.
“I still can’t believe we solved the Dorrant case,” Ethan all but sang. “I was beginning to think that would be one of our rare dead ends.”
No matter that I told him I was close to solving it last night, Kaycee thought as her jaw tightened.
“There are no dead ends, Ethan,” Clarissa ensured. “Only angles that haven’t been examined. We're clever enough to find those angles; don't ever doubt it!"
“I’ve got to admit, I love your attitude.”
Kaycee shuddered; she could hear the smile in his voice, and she was about to break that case!
“Hey, we’re both leaving work,” Clarissa started. “What do you say we go grab a drink to discuss... future opportunities.”
Ethan didn't so much as hesitate before accepting the offer, and when Kaycee stepped out of the patient’s room she watched them step into the elevator together. It felt like a punch in the gut. She didn’t like when that little green monster clawed at her, but right he was drawing blood. She felt invisible, she felt lost, and the one person who could make her feel better was part of the reason why, and now, he was out with Clarissa.
Kaycee didn't go home. Instead, she took advantage of having the key to Ethan's penthouse, and that's where she waited. When Ethan returned to his apartment later that night, Kaycee was there – wearing a hole in his carpet as she paced back and forth. He walked in and glanced at the clock, then Kaycee. He knew something was amiss.
“Kaycee,” he droned, dropping his keys onto the marble counter with a clang. “I didn’t expect you to be here tonight.”
“Oh, I’m sure you didn’t,” she spat, her firey eyes laced with a touch of pain. “I saw you leave the hospital with Clarissa. You two looked really... close.”
Ethan sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Kaycee, you know it isn't like that. We were just sharing a drink to discuss work. That’s all.”
But his answer did not suffice. She crossed her arms defensively before her chest, and her brows knitted together as she stood before him in the kitchen.
“Do you not see the way she looks at you? Or how she hangs on your every word? And she’s not like that with anyone else, Ethan, only with you!”
Ethan took a step closer. “Kaycee, Clarissa is a colleague. You have nothing to be worried about.”
“Don’t I?” she asked, disappointed with the level of desperation in her voice. “I was just a colleague once. Harper was once your colleague... don’t tell me she’s just your colleague and expect it to provide any comfort!” Her anxiety was palpable as her eyes welled up with tears. “Ethan, I know it takes more than a pretty face to turn your head. But Clarissa isn’t just beautiful; she’s brilliant. She’s a rising star! Just the thing to make a sapiosexual like you take note!”
“Sapiosexual?” he chuckled.
“Don’t act like you’re unfamiliar with the term! You don’t get it, Ethan! She’s out there being all flirtatious with you, and I’m forced to keep our relationship hidden in the shadows like it's a dirty secret! Every time I see you two together, it feels like I’m the one who’s invisible. Like I'm the one who can be replaced!"
His eyes softened when he saw the extent of Kaycee’s pain, and he cupped her face in his hands, forcing her to look at him. “No one will ever replace you, Kaycee. No one. You’re it for me.” His voice was low, commanding, and sent shivers down her spine.
She bit her lip, too proud to allow the tears pooling in her eyes to fall. She took a cleansing breath and summoned her courage. “Then why do I feel like I’m fighting for you?”
His hand encircled her wrist, gripping it just tight enough to keep her from pulling away. “You feel that way because you’ve been bottling this up inside instead of coming to me. You haven’t given me a chance to remind you of what we are.” He leaned down, his lips brushing hers. “Let me remind you, Kaycee,” he whispered. “Let me remind you of who we are.”
Kaycee’s breath hitched; resistance was futile as he brought his lips back to hers, kissing her slowly, deliberately, as if she were the only other person alive. All the jealousy, frustration, and angst that had been consuming her melted away with that kiss, the heat between them igniting more with every passing second. He touched her with a wanton hunger that made her knees buckle. She leaned back against the kitchen counter so she wouldn’t fall.
This pleased Ethan, who was taking her in with a devilish grin; his hands began to roam over her body. Gripping her hips and pulling her against him, he lifted her onto the counter as she moaned softly, the frustration of the day unraveling as his hands claimed her and his lips traced down her neck to the sensitive skin of her chest. He unbuttoned her blouse.
“You think I want anyone else?” Ethan growled, his breath hot against her. “I’m yours, Kaycee. Every inch of me.”
Her hands fisted in his shirt, and she pulled him close, her body arching into his as she kissed him, biting his lip, relishing the control he offered her. He let out a low, primal groan as she worked her magic, taking back what was rightfully hers.
She hopped off the counter and led him to the living room, pushing him back on the couch. He didn’t fight her; this was just what he wanted. She shoved him into the cushions, straddling him in one swift movement, her blonde locks falling all around them. The air between them sizzled with a raw, palpable heat, and his heart nearly stopped when she lowered her hand and slipped her panties to the side. His hands gripped her thighs, grounding himself in the reality, the intensity of being inside the woman he loved. He swore all the air had escaped him. He was home.
“Do you think Clarissa could ever do this to you?” Kaycee whispered breathlessly in his ear, her hips grinding into him in a way that made him forget his own name.
“Not a fucking chance,” he rasped, pulling her closer, his lips devouring hers in a breathless kiss.
She kissed back harder, pouring proudly taking back all that belonged to her. She pressed her body against his as if to remind him she was the only one who could have him like this. His hands roamed up her back, their delicate touch sending chills down her spine. He pulled her closer to him as his hips lurched up to meet her. He needed her in every possible way; she was the only one who could set him on fire like this.
“Say it,” she demanded, her breath ragged, her lips swollen from his kisses. “Say it!”
“You’re mine, Kaycee,” he growled, his voice rough and heavy with desire. “You’re mine, and I’m yours... no one else matters.”
A satisfied smile spread on her lips, and his hands cupped her breasts as she threw her head back triumphantly. Heart, mind, and soul satiated; her body quivered around him, and sounds of pleasure filled the air as she found her release. Ethan’s movements became more erratic as he moved inside her; his eyes screwed closed to shut out the world, focusing solely on how they were joined, how he loved her, needed her, and wanted her more than anything he had ever known. He let out a cry as he reached his peak – his mind going blank as he emptied deep inside her. They collapsed together, silent, gasping softly as they tried to catch their breath, lost in the rapture they found themselves in.
There was no longer any doubt between them. He reached up and pushed a lock of hair behind her ear, his finger slowly caressing the curve of Kaycee’s precious face.
“Feeling any better,” he smiled.
“Much,” she grinned, nuzzling under his arm. “I love you, Ethan.”
“I love you, too.”
Sleep came quickly after, as they were lost in a world of their own creation.
~~~~
The following morning, Tobias was in the Diagnostic Team office when Clarissa came barreling in, two steaming hot cups of coffee in her hands.
“For me,” he smiled playfully. “You shouldn’t have.”
“Good," she grinned. "Because I didn’t." She placed one cup in front of Ethan's seat.
"Just for him?" Tobias questioned.
Clarissa shrugged nonchalantly. "It's to celebrate our win yesterday."
“With Starbucks?” he chuckled, raising his own cup of coffee to his lips. “If you’re trying to impress Ethan, that ain’t gonna do it.”
“What do you mean?” She asked, just as Kaycee stepped into the room, beaming as she placed a cup from Derry Roasters right next to Clarissa's offering.
“Tobias is right,” Kaycee smiled. “You have much to learn.”
Ethan entered the office and took in the scene. “I’m glad to see you’re already pouring over the documents for our next case,” he said sarcastically. “The initiative is heartwarming."
His face softened a bit when he saw Kaycee, who offered a clandestine wink. “Sorry, boss,” she grinned. “We were just discussing something far more important,” she motioned to his place at the table. “Like, what’s your favorite coffee.”
Ethan looked at the two cups, trying to stay diplomatic. "Let's just say I prefer local goodness over corporate greed."
"Damn!" Clarissa mock frowned. "I guess I owe you a cup from Derry's."
"Another time," Ethan smiled, taking a long sip from the cup as Tobias slid the Starbucks his way.
"I'm not as particular," Tobias winked.
They reviewed today's cases, and with marching orders given, Ethan was the first on his feet. He walked with purposeful steps toward Kaycee, placing a kiss atop her head before she had a chance to stand. "Have a good day, sweetheart. I'll meet you for lunch."
Clarissa's eyes went wide, choking on her iced latte. Tobias wore a wicked grin. "I thought you two were under wraps until her residency was over," he smirked. "Jesus! You only have two-and-a-half months left!"
Ethan looked back over his shoulder, a smug smile on his lips. "As if we're not the worst kept secret in Edenbrook anyway." With a wink in Kaycee's direction, he was out the door. Kaycee sat back in her chair. The warmth inside her had nothing to do with her beverage of choice. The stupid grin on her face made that perfectly clear.
"You all right there, MacClennan?" Tobias asked.
"Yes," she replied. "I'm perfect." After all, today was going to be a much better day.
I'm super into the Descendants Universe rn (again, lol) so here are some face claims that I did.
I never read the books, so this is based on vibes only!
Harriet Hook as Hailee Steinfeld. I decided that she has dark hair like Harry and brown eyes like CJ from Descendants Wicked World
CJ Hook as Reneé Rapp. She is blonde like in Wicked World, and let's pretend she has brown eyes, idk how to make edits lol
Jade as Amrit Kaur and Reza as Chaneil Kular. I just love them
Mad Maddy as Teagan Croft. Her hair is purple, the pictures are just not that good, lol
Clay Clayton as Ethan Cutkosky. Bc he is too hot
Tiger Peony as Devery Jacobs. Devery is Canadian Indigenous, and Neverland doesn't really exist, so who cares
Darek as Thomas Elms. Aka, Doug's hotter older brother
I have some more, so I'll make a part 2.
WHO'D YOU RATHER?: 100 MALE ACTORS EDITION
Hello, everyone 👋🏻. We have finally gotten to the fourth installment of my lil PRIDE fest. I hope you enjoy it. It is really a tad bit too long for what I wanted to do but I have trouble sometimes with length. Hopefully you guys don’t mind. Anyway for this one we have one our favorite sapphic ladies. The Lady actually. Alcina Dimitrescu alongside a very fearless maid. (Y’all should know I didn’t edit because it’s 2:15am and I’m tired. Ok? Ok. Byeee.)
PRIDE - Daring
Change was to be expected after the terrible events which befell The Village. After Mother Miranda’s betrayal and Ethan Winters' sacrifice everything was different. Four families who had only had the Mold in common came together to rebuild. How they had managed to survive was a mystery. Yet Lady Alcina Dimitrescu did not question it. Not when she had been able to bring her daughters back, every single one.
Had Ethan Winters survived she would have done a great deal of things with him. It was good that he had rid them of Miranda but she would never forget how he had hunted and killed her daughters in search of his own. As if his mission to save Rose gave him leave to tear down the world of another parent. Yes, he would have suffered greatly at her hands. The things she had done in a hundred years would have paled in comparison to what she would have done to him.
Nevertheless, Winters was gone along with Miranda and she had her daughters and, as much as she loathed calling them as such, her siblings. Following The Village’s destruction they had all relocated to her castle, which stubbornly stood after the massive explosion that had practically flattened their land.
The Duke had also been spared, though Alcina supposed that was the charm of a man such as him. There when you need him gone when you don't. It was a good thing too as he was now her supplier of blood and meat. They had rebuilt somewhat and new people had begun to arrive and settle in the ruins of The Village. This time around, however, she and her daughters had refrained from recklessly taking people for sustenance. Thus building a better relationship.
With the arrival of new villagers, came new maids. The castle’s policy to hire only women remained. Even with Heisenberg constantly harassing her to change it she did not budge. Two manthings in her home were more than enough. Thus a fresh batch of maids had come in.
Fear was still very much alive. Just because she was trying to be practical did not mean that she would lower herself. She was a countess and the new people living in The Village and within her castle would know their place.
Alcina barely interacted with the maids, leaving Bela in charge of arranging their schedules. The only times she engaged with them was during meals or tea times. At least that was true until she came along.
A woman in her late twenties had come upon The Village late at night at the beginning of winter. The lights of the castle drew her in, shivering and exhausted. Where she had come from she didn’t say. All that she told them was that she had lost everyone and had nothing. Suspicion arose within the inhabitants of the castle for a while but Alcina found herself allowing the young woman to stay.
Elise was her name and she was beautiful. Her beauty, though, was subtle. She was not some ethereal being, she just was. Something Alcina appreciated over a great many things. Brown hair and hazel eyes. Lithe and delicate she stood a few inches short of her daughters. Elise was different. A hard worker through and through. Even Bela seemed surprised by her diligence and quick learning. She was quiet and reserved, her gaze held within years of despair despite her young age.
Oftentimes Alcina found herself craving the young woman’s company. She was uncertain as to why but she enjoyed having Elise around. She had made her a sort of personal maid. Unlike the rest of the staff, Elise was allowed in Alcina’s chambers and study without supervision. The young woman had learned how to discern her moods and quickly identified ways to help her calm. Her presence was almost soothing to an extent so Alcina took to having her clean her study while she worked. There were not many words exchanged, they both simply existed together. Sometimes, though, Alcina could see that flash of sadness across Elise’s face. It was quick like a lightning bolt. It suddenly struck then was no more. Refraining from asking her about her past became a challenge but she was Lady Alcina Dimitrescu and as such she had etiquette to follow.
As time went by the young woman’s quietness slowly melted. The suspicion which had been present at her arrival eased. Elise would spend time with her daughters and her siblings. She never seemed bothered by any of them and their odd characteristics. Her three rambunctious children would seek her out to spend time together. Maybe reading a book or playing. On rare occasions she would hear Donna’s soft crackly voice as she conversed with Elise. What they spoke about she didn’t know but sometimes the fact that they talked made her feel strange. Even Heisenberg and Moreau would seek the young woman out.
Seemingly, Elise had become an important member of her castle. One who her family had become rather attached to. Despite her good will and the relationship she had built with everyone Alcina always kept an eye on her. She may have allowed her to stay when everyone had been against it and allowed for them to bond with her as they had but humans were gullible little things. Anything could make them turn, their loyalty fickle, and that was something she would not have. Alcina would raze the world before facing the possibility of losing her family all over again.
******
With Miranda gone and new villagers came new challenges. Together the four Lords had managed to erect a barrier. However, their barrier was nothing compared to Miranda’s and as such it could be infiltrated. No longer were they invisible to the world that surrounded them. They were seen as a threat even when they had mostly changed their ways. Yet they could not blame the world surrounding them for fearing them. Alcina and her family were, afterall, different.
Their unnaturalness and years of terror had earned them the attention of different government agencies. Agencies, which seemed hellbent on eradicating them or at least capturing them for experimentation. Groups of humans or genetically engineered beings were sent through their barrier constantly. Thankfully, the villagers seemed to greatly mislike the outsiders for some reason or another. The moment someone new stepped foot in The Village the castle was notified there were hunters, as the people had taken to calling them, near.
The castle would always be on high alert when notified of suspicious activity. Maids were sent to the servant quarters to keep safe but mostly out of the way, leaving only few to tend to the family’s needs. Heisenberg would ready the Lycans he still had left while Moreau and Donna remained on standby. Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela always stayed in the castle to defend it. Because of their susceptibility to the cold, staying in the castle was also good for the three.
It fell to Alcina and Heisenberg to intercept the teams before they reached the castle. In great part due to them, the castle had never been infiltrated and even the villagers were mostly spared. It was true that Alcina alone could deal with incoming threats but Heisenberg had argued so much against it that on that issue at least she had conceded.
******
Dinner was being served when Elise quietly interrupted her meal. The young woman approached her while her daughters regaled the table with tales of their extreme game of hide and seek.
“My lady, we received a message from Mr. Rousseau.”
Alcina cleaned the corners of her mouth with a napkin before leaning closer to her maid. “Continue.”
“He spotted a team of twelve.”
“How many dear sis?” Heisenberg shouted from the other end of the table.
“Mind your manners.” Alcina huffed.
“Oh pardon me m’lady.”
Resisting the urge to roll her eyes she nodded at Elise who then relayed the information to the rest of the table. Bela was out of her chair and calling for the maids to get to their quarters. Cassandra and Daniela headed over to their designated sides of the castle to guard and keep watch. Moreau whiningly made his way out of the dining room as well with Donna and Angie following behind.
“My boys will keep an eye on the grounds. Move your giant ass. Let’s go.” Heisenberg called as he made his way out.
“One of these days I will leave him to die like a dog.” Alcina muttered.
“I shall have your bath ready when you come back, my lady.” Elise said beside her. “And evening tea as well.”
“See that you do.” Alcina stood and headed to the door to which the young woman replied as she always did.
“As you wish, my lady.” It wasn’t until she had almost reached the door that she heard something else coming from her. “Please come back safe.”
Elise’s last words were so soft that without her heightened hearing she would have missed them. Alcina froze then glanced back but the maid was already clearing the table of perishables and heading to the kitchens. A million and one questions surfaced in her head at the young woman’s words, at the concern etched in them. However, now was not the time to dwell on such things. Heisenberg was calling for her from the main foyer and she very much hated his cajoling.
******
“You stupid moron.”
“Enough!” She hissed through gritted teeth.
She supposed the biggest change after Miranda and Ethan was her regeneration. Following her run in with that cursed blade her fast healing had become stunted. She could still heal everything but the speed of which she regenerated became slower even when she had blood.
“Why’d you get in the way?” Heisenberg bit out while still holding the makeshift bandages in place.
“Because had I not then you would be dead.” Alcina replied angrily. “I thought your whole argument rested on the fact that you need not be protected because you could do that yourself. Yet there you were not paying attention. Too distracted by your damned mutts.”
“I would’ve been fine. I know I would’ve.”
“You know nothing. You imbecile.”
“Mother!” The agitated voices of her daughters finally reached them as they made their way up the stairs.
“What happened?”
“I will kill those manthings.”
“Are you going to be ok?”
Forcing a smile she tried to calm her daughters. “Hush dears. I am fine. ‘Tis but a scratch.”
The girls looked over her wounds then to their uncle, who shook his head. Heiseberg ignored her glare and only held onto her bandages despite her trying to pull away. Daniela led the way to her chambers while Cassandra briefly swarmed away before returning with the emergency kit.
The group marched on with her silently and soon Donna with Angie along Moreau joined the small entourage. The doll perched herself on her good shoulder without warning and she resisted the urge to send it flying as she watched Donna looking up at her. It seemed as though her sister had sent Angie to check the wounds she herself couldn’t see.
Alcina had half a mind to yell at them all for hovering. She needed no help. She was strong and everything would be fine come morning. Being rude was not something she wanted to do. Snapping at Heisenberg was one thing, he deserved it after all, but everyone else was there out of concern. Still their concern for her only made her feel weak and she was anything but.
As they reached her chambers her door opened before any of them could try. Elise’s troubled eyes met hers before scanning over her. Alcina could feel her ever slow beating heart begin to pick up the pace under such scrutiny. The young woman stood in silence for a few seconds before Heisenberg decided to break the atmosphere.
“Whatever she says ain’t true, El. It ain’t my fault the crazy giant stood in the way.”
The coldness with which Elise regarded Heisenberg almost made her shiver and set the hairs in the back of her neck on end. Never had she witnessed this frigid demeanor from the young woman.
“I believe you’ve done enough, Lord Heisenberg.” Her voice was just as cold as her eyes and Heisenberg flinched a step back.
“Why’re you being like this? I didn’t do nothing.”
“You should go deal with whatever it is the lycans are bringing before they make a mess.”
“But—”
“You really should leave.”
“Ah fine.” He let go of Alcina to wave his arms around and turned around muttering under his breath.
The cold in those hazel eyes flashed quickly a deep fire as anger took over Elise’s features. Everyone surrounding Alcina seemed to have noticed as well, growing tense and keeping quiet. Bela had quickly taken over holding her bandages in place and moved to walk her inside her chambers. That was until she pulled away.
“Enough, I know you are all trying to help but it is not necessary.”
“But Mother we could—” Bela seemed to want to argue but she interrupted with a small smile.
“Not necessary.”
“A-are you sure sister?” Moreau asked, hobbling closer.
“I am certain. Please go tend to the rest of the castle. Heisenberg should be bringing the remains soon.”
“Call if you need something.” Donna’s soft voice came through her veil before Angie’s shriek filled the air. “I will sing you a lullaby!”
“Much appreciated.” Alcina hid her wince as she nodded at her sister and handed her doll over.
“Mother—” Daniela began but once more she interrupted.
“My dears, you need to deal with whatever Heisenberg brings in. I am perfectly able to deal with my wounds.”
Cassandra shook her head, “Mother, we can—”
“Girls,” Elise spoke calmly and took the emergency kit from the brunette, “do as the lady says. I shall ensure she has everything she needs.”
Her three daughters looked at each other as if they were having their own silent conversation before nodding and looking back at Elise. Daniele swarmed up towards her leaving a kiss on her cheek quickly followed by Cassandra. Bela waited a bit while her sisters moved down the hall throwing glances over their shoulders.
“Elise, if you need anything please call us. Anything at all.”
“As the lady says everything will be fine.” Elise gave the blonde a gentle smile.
Bela hummed before as her sisters before her she turned her lower body into a swarm of flies floating up to give her a kiss on the cheek. “I love you, Mother. And I know you don’t like it but I will check on you in a few hours.”
“I love you too, bug. Off you go.”
Bela grinned up at her before fully swarming and heading over to her sisters. Alcina listened to their excited swarms for a few seconds before focusing on the only other person left. Elise waited patiently before her. She seemed calmer now, a bit more collected than she did before. Hazel eyes zeroed in on her injured shoulder and arm before backing into the room.
Ducking carefully, Alcina entered her chambers unable to stifle the hiss moving in such a manner brought her. Pain laced her entire upper right shoulder and arm all the way down to her fingertips. The door shut gently behind her and she glanced over her shoulder to find the young woman’s eyes on her.
“My lady, the bath is ready for you when you are ready.”
“Good. Leave the kit there. You are dismissed.” She said heading towards the bench in front of her vanity.
“I could—”
Alcina was tired of all the hovering and coddling from her family. To receive the same kind of concern from a maid felt more like pity and pity was not something she would ever accept. Anger rose in her chest and she turned to face Elise.
“I said you are dismissed!”
“But you are hurt and I can—”
“Leave!” Her voice came out as more of a roar than anything else. She expected the young woman to cower but what she got was a resilient expression.
“No!” Elise exclaimed.
Ire filled rushed through her veins sending her blood into a boil and she could feel the beast within shift as her claws slid out, “you dare—”
“I dare.” Elise stared back at her without an ounce of fear. “You may kill me later. I could really care less. Now, however, you will sit and let me take care of your wounds, Lady Dimitrescu.”
Alcina stood frozen in place at Elise’s brazenness. The display of courage and her disregard for her life in the face of an apex predator were something to be admired. Even the beast within took pause at the young woman’s display.
“I’m waiting, my lady.”
At her words and still shocked she wordlessly obliged and sat at the bench watching as Elise took the stepping stool and set herself beside her.
After setting the emergency kit and freshly made bandages on the vanity Elise turned her attention to her wounds. Taking her arm in her hands she moved it cradling ever so gently as if one wrong move and it would shatter. Alcina was not used to that level of care from anyone, not even her own daughters. Bela was always careful but Elise was acting as if she would break under even the barest press of her fingers.
“I am not made of glass.” She finally said and in an instant hazel eyes met hers.
“I’m well aware.” Elise grabbed some cleaning solution and began to gently clear away the dried blood. “You can be the strongest being in the world but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be cared for.”
“Is this your way of appeasing me after blatantly disregarding my orders?” Alcina lifted a brow.
“I told you already. You can do whatever you wish after I’m done.”
“You are strange.”
Elise scoffed but still kept her attention on the wound extending from her forearm to her elbow. “Maybe. I’ll need to stitch this.” She lifted her gaze as if she were asking permission.
“Do you really have to ask? You have done as you wished so far.”
“That may be true but still I will ask. May I stitch your arm,” she stopped and glanced at the wound on her shoulder, “and your shoulder?”
“Do as you wish.”
Alcina turned away from her and focused on their reflection in the mirror. After a hum Elise set to work as usual, quietly and diligently but now with a side of care and gentleness. The silence stretched between them for the minutes during which the young woman cleaned and stitched her up. At any miniscule show of discomfort, even without really looking at her, Elise would halt her movements and give her a few seconds to collect herself.
It was not long before all the blood and debris had been cleared off of the wounds. Elise had done remarkably well, which if Alcina was honest with herself did not surprise her in the least. The young woman never complained about standing and stretching in such uncomfortable ways. She did what she had to in order to help her and that was that.
“Would you mind if I checked on the bath? I think I may have taken longer than I thought I would so the water may not be as warm as you like. I apologize.”
“Go on.”
Elise bowed her head then climbed down the stepping stool before heading to the adjoining bathroom. Alcina inspected her injuries while the young woman was gone. She could still feel the ghost of nimble fingers gently grazing her skin. Her heart beat at an alarming pace and she wondered if it was due to the injuries or if it was something else.
“My lady?” Elise’s voice drew her from her thoughts. “The bath is ready. I already spread the salts and oils. At the risk of overstepping—please mind your wounds.”
Alcina scoffed and looked at the young woman, “at the risk of overstepping, you say?”
“I am aware my behavior was unacceptable.” Elise dropped into a deep bow. “I am deeply sorry.”
Standing, Alcina made her way towards the still bowing young woman before reaching down and lifting her face with a finger under her chin. She did not miss the surprised gasp nor the way the young woman’s heart sped up. Flushed cheek, Elise looked more beautiful than before and her gaze held so much that Alcina fought to remain calm herself.
“If you would be so kind as to help me this evening. I’m afraid maneuvering in the bathroom might be a tad bit too painful on my own.”
Truthfully she had no idea where her words came from or how she allowed herself to speak in such a way. Elise swallowed hard and she found herself watching the bob of her throat as she did, feeling a thirst like no other watering her mouth.
“Yes, my lady.” Her voice was so soft that Alcina almost missed it. “It would be my pleasure to help.”
“So very kind of you.”
Pulling away she watched Elise almost chase her hand before catching herself and straightening up. An involuntary smirk settled on her lips while she entered the bathroom listening intently as the young woman behind her took a deep steadying breath.
The smell of lavender and citrus wafted through the bathroom while steam lifted from the water in her tub. Behind her she heard careful steps that came to a halt just beside the tub itself. When she moved to reach for the buttons of her dress a hum stopped her.
“Please allow me.”
Elise made quick work of the buttons and soon Alcina let the dress fall down her body and pool at her feet.
“I think it may be better to get rid of this one, my lady. I’m afraid not even Lady Beneviento would be able to mend this.”
“You would be correct. Do get rid of it. Set out a nightgown and bring me fresh underwear.” Reaching behind her to undo her bra had a hiss leaving her lips. “Useless manthings.” She grumbled.
“It may be inappropriate but I can help.”
“Go on.”
Once more soft gentle fingers grazed her skin sending a ripple up and down her spine. Feeling heat spreading across her cheeks and a slight tickle in her stomach made her gasp. There was absolutely no way she was blushing at the mere touch of another. The way her body was reacting was wholly impossible. She was not made to feel things such as these. She was not human and only humans were gullible enough to feel things such as these.
“My lady, are you alright?”
Elise’s concerned tone brought her back to herself so she cleared her throat and took a deep breath before letting her bra fall. “I am. Please do as I told you. I will be done shortly.”
“As you wish, my lady.”
Waiting until the door shut Alcina then set about taking off the rest of her garments before entering the tub. The moment she sank in she felt her body completely relax and she let out a pleased hum. For a moment she allowed herself to just be, completely tuning out everything that wasn’t her or the water gently lapping around her just before it settled.
After her moment of complete disconnection she tuned back into her surroundings. She began to wash herself being mindful of her still healing injuries. Behind the closed door she could hear Elise moving about.
The whole situation with the young woman was strange. Never once in her seventy years as a mutated being had she faced someone like her. While it was true that Ethan Winters had disrupted her entire being and challenged her like no one had before it wasn’t the same. Elise had challenged her, yes, and she had also disrupted her whole being but it was so much different.
The young woman cared about her and her family in a way no one truly had. She made quick friends with siblings and became something more than a friend to her daughters. And then there was Elise with her.
In the face of death she had stood without fear. Like a stone against which the water crashed but could not move. Elise made her feel things she did not understand. Things she had forgotten she had once desired. Slowly she had ingrained herself into her life. Slowly then all at once and it was just now that Alcina was becoming more aware of just how deep that young brown haired and hazel eyed woman had rooted herself.
A soft knock on the door had her glancing over her shoulder.
“Should I leave your clothes in here? Or would you rather I set the screen for you?” Elise asked, her eyes focused on her feet.
“Why should I have to dress her or behind the screen?”
“Oh, I only mean to respect your privacy, my lady.”
Her stammering was sweet enough to tease but Alcina felt somewhat merciful. “You pretend to stay in my chambers tonight?”
“I-I uh I…” Elise’s cheeks turned several shades of red before settling on a deep crimson. “Your daughters came by and wanted to stay. I may have convinced them to let you rest on the condition that I’d watch over you.”
“I have no need for a nanny.” Alcina snapped quietly, though she felt her chest warm at her daughters’ concern.
“I know you don’t, my lady. But I assumed you’d rather one set of eyes instead of three.”
“I suppose.” She conceded. “Leave my clothes here.”
“Of course, my lady.”
Some shuffling of fabrics then the door was shut once more and she was again alone with her thoughts and her feelings.
Allowing herself a few more minutes of soaking in the sweet and citrusy water, Alcina leaned her head back and closed her eyes, willing her heart to calm. A night with only Elise for company would surely be an arduous task to complete but she had never been one to cower before a challenge.
In the silence she wondered what would happen should she allow herself to feel freely. She also wondered what went on in Elise’s little head—what moved her to act in the way she had towards her. Between the two questions that at least was something she was more willing to explore.
One deep and calming breath and she was getting out of the tub and reaching for a towel. She patted herself dry and put on her clothes, chuckling at the fact she had been limited to getting ready for bed in the bathroom instead of her own room. Once done she headed out.
Soft candlelight bathed the room in a delicate golden glow. Not all of them were lit, just enough that visibility was good—she needn’t much but still it was nice. Elise stood by the window unaware she had finally stepped out of the bathroom.
Alcina allowed herself a few minutes to observe the young woman in silence. Standing in the moonlight looking at nothing in particular, Elise was breathtaking. She almost wished she could paint her. Maybe one day. Just not today.
“Good choice.”
Elise turned abruptly, “pardon me, my lady. I didn’t notice you came back.”
“Clearly. Good choice on nightgowns. This one is by far one of my more comfortable ones.” Alcina moved to her bed noticing the covers had been pulled back so that she may just slip in.
“Daniela brought a carafe of new blood for you.” Elise walked over to the table in which a tray sat with said carafe and a glass. “Would you like some now?”
“If you wouldn’t mind.”
“Right away.”
Sitting at the edge of the bed Alcina waited for the young woman to bring her favored drink. Elise made her way to her carefully and handed her the cup while she moved the carafe from the tray to her bedside table. That sweet coppery scent reached her and her hunger hit her like a wave. She drank the whole cup in two gulps. Unflinchingly, Elise filled cup after cup until the whole carafe was gone.
“Would you like me to get more? We must have gotten a fresh supply today.” Elise offered.
“How are you this comfortable with my cumsumption of blood?” She asked instead of responding.
“What do you mean?”
“You talk as though it does not bother you. Yet you are human. It is the blood of your species that I crave more than anything. I can drink ten of you dry and still want more. Despite that, here you stand offering me more without so much as a care.”
“You need it the same way I need animal meat. I don’t see a difference.” Elise spoke and despite how much she looked for it Alcina could find no traces of lies in her words or expression.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why do you care for us? For me?” Alcina just could not understand her. “We… I am… I am nothing but a m—”
“If you dare finish that sentence I will climb up there and slap you.” Elise spat. “Do not ever call yourself that. Never. Do you understand me?” She looked so angry while she spoke as if Alcina had somehow offended her. “Your siblings are amazing. Unusual, yes. But amazing still. And your daughters, they are unlike anyone I’ve ever met. A bit peculiar and rambunctious. Sadistic also—I will not deny that—but wonderful in every way. And you…”
Alcina felt an unfamiliar prickle in her eyes as she listened to the young woman. Never had she encountered someone as daring as her. She threatened her in the same wavelength expressed her love—because that’s what it was, love—for her family. Her hazel eyes filled with unshed tears as she found the words to express what Alcina was to her.
“You are no monster. You are beautiful, breathtakingly so. You are strong and loving. Caring and kind in your own way.” Tears slid down pink cheeks but Elise continued despite them. “I know of your past. I know what you’ve done. But I also know your present.” She swallowed hard. “I know what you can become. I know what you would become for the people of this castle. A dragon cares for its own. Does it not, my lady?”
Where her voice came from she had no idea, because the lump in her throat sat heavy. “It does.”
“I have met many monsters.” A sad smile sat on Elise’s face. “So many monsters. You are not one of them. So I will never allow anyone to refer to any of you as such. I lost so much when I got here. I had nothing and no one. And swore I would never let anyone else that close. But it seems I’m an oath breaker because you all sneaked in and burrowed yourself within. You are all now my family.”
It felt like a bucket of ice cold water had fallen upon her waking her from her daydreaming. Whatever Alcina had thought the young woman felt towards her was not real. A family is what she them all as. A family, which could only mean she saw her as a mother. And really what could she see? Alcina was stuck forever in her mid-forties. She may be beautiful but to a twenty-something year old that was nothing.
“Family.” Alcina let out feeling herself hollow out, tearing her gaze from the young woman before her. “So to you I must be like a mother?”
A light chuckle brought her back to Elise who was doing her best to wipe the tears from her face. Hazel eyes met hers and a soft smile etched itself into the young woman’s face.
“Seeing you as a mother might make the way I want to kiss you rather complicated.”
“W-what did you say?”
Not once in all her years had Lady Alcina Dimitrescu stammered the way she just had. Elise simply looked at her, her head tilted with her soft smile and warm eyes.
Alcina was unsure from where the young woman had pulled the stepping stool but Elise was now perched on it, their gazes leveled. Alcina’s hands twitched at her sides when Elise gently cradled her face. Bated breath, she waited unmoving to see just what the young woman would do.
“I don’t see you as a mother, my foolish lady.” Despite her tears, Elise let out a chuckle.
“That’s… good.”
“So eloquent.” She giggled and Alcina decided that was the best sound she had ever heard.
Hazel eyes filled with tears once more and her hands began to shake. Elise leaned forward and rested her forehead against hers, her lips quivering slightly. Alcina's heart raced at their closeness and she refused to breathe or acknowledge the way she herself began to tremble.
“I know what happened today can happen again. I know even if I beg you would still go out there. You have to.” A light whimper escaped Elise’s lips. “Just please make sure you come back. I know how strong you are but Alcina please. I have lost so much already and I know you are different. I know you are stronger. But please just say you will come back. Please.”
Pulling away from her soft hands, she lifted her head enough to place a kiss on Elise’s forehead, lingering for a moment to say, “I will always come back to you, my daring girl.”
“Aww, that is so cute! You were right, Bela?”
The delighted squeal from Daniela had them jumping apart. Elise seemed to lose her balance but one quick movement from Alcina and she had her resting against her chest instead.
“Dani, hush!” Cassandra hissed, attempting to be more quiet but failing miserably.
“Both of you shhh.”
Elise made to move away but Alcina only held her tighter in place, “stay?” At her nod Alcina pulled her gently onto her lap before looking to the closed door. “Bugs? You may come in.”
“What if we don’t want to?” Cassandra asked.
“I want to.” Daniela whined.
“Be quiet.” Bela hissed. “A-are you decent, Mother?”
“Bela Dimitrescu.” She admonished while Elise attempted to cover her giggle with a cough.
“I was only—”
“Inside. All three of you.”
The buzzing swarm of her beloved trio dove under her door and into the room. Cassandra materialized with her hands covering her eyes, while Daniela beamed at them and Bela stared at the floor apologetically.
“So when do we get to call Elise mom?” Daniela asked happily.
“Daniela, we haven’t even… what I mean is… well I just…” And once more Lady Alcina Dimitrescu had been reduced to a stammering blubbering mess.
“I just told her I loved her, girls. Be patient.”
Suddenly the giggles coming from her daughters disappeared along with her chambers to leave only the woman she now had on her lap. What Elise had just said was a lie. She hadn’t told her she loved her. She had just—
“Alcina?” A soft hand caressed her cheek gently as ever. “Are you alright?”
“Elise broke Mother.” Cassandra snickered in the background.
Alcina ignored her and focused instead on those hazel eyes. “You just said you love me.”
“Alcina,” Elise frowned, “after everything that just happened. After everything I just said. Could you not guess what I felt? What I feel?”
“But I’m a m—”
Soft lips covered her own in an instant. She shuddered at the feeling as did the beast inside. Parts she had thought long dead sparked throughout her. Bumps rose all over her skin and she burned. Burned brightly in an all consuming fire. To this miserable world Elise had sparked it all. It was as though Alcina had been sleepwalking through life. And now she was awake.
Elise pulled away and she opened her eyes, not entirely sure of when she had opened them. “I told you not to call yourself that.”
“If I recall correctly you said you’d slap me if I did.” Alcina managed a smirk though inside she was swooning like a schoolgirl.
“My daring self thought a kiss might be better to keep you from talking.”
“Adorable!”
“Ew.”
“Shhh.”
“Sorry I forgot you all were here.” Elise turned to the girls.
“We’re aware.” Cassandra rolled her eyes. “Anyway since we now know Mother is in good hands let's get back to the cellar. I’m still hungry.”
“Just make sure you don’t bring all that blood up the stairs to the kitchen, you three.” Elise groaned.
“Yes, mom!” Daniela cheered and swarmed away quickly followed by a giggling Cassandra.
“Uh… still let us know if you need something?” Bela gave them a small smile before she also swarmed away.
“I should’ve asked them to bring you another one.” Elise motioned to the empty carafe. “I’ll go get you some more.” She moved to stand and once more Alcina held her in place.
“No, I had more than enough.” Elise seemed unconvinced by her words. “Stay.”
“As you wish, my lady.”
“Shall I tell you a secret, my daring draga?” Alcina pressed her forehead to Elise’s, grinning widely when she rubbed their noses together. “I love you too.”
sneak peak of chapter 32 of 'Unfriendly Neighbourhood's Spider-Man'
"
9th November 2014
It was an odd experience, Peter decided, to see your once-lost adoptive father just walking down the street.
Ethan Bennett looked almost as he did in Peter Bennett’s memories. Equally as tall and strong - hair cropped close to his skull, donning a familiar thick brown jacket over navy and grey. It was the similarity to Uncle Bennett that had shaken the teen. As much as his recollection of his dad were distorted by time, his memories of his uncle still blazed true and familiar. And Ethan Bennett looked like his brother. A little older - certainly scruffier and bigger - but so similar that it burned.
He was akin to fantasy, really. A spectre of a better life, a reminder of an an uncle that had poured his soul into the care of an adopted child that was thrust upon him unwillingly.
And the pair were stuck. Frozen on the sidewalk as Gothamites brushed past - Steph and Duke rigid at Peter’s side as former father and once-son stared at each other, unmoving and unblinking.
Peter wondered what his dad must have seen in that moment. His eyes were wide, flittering his form as though cataloguing each difference and growth from toddler to teen. Shoulders tense and brow pinching as the man inhaled a sharp breath, finally gazing at the two by Peter’s side. A flash of recognition crossed his eyes and he tensed further, almost hunching into himself.
