"lizzies so full of herself" lizzie hates herself. she puts on an act and pretends she's better than everyone but she literally just wants to be loved so desperately. she tries not to show that the way everyone treats her gets to her by acting like she's better than them anyway but she's so deeply affected and hurt by it. She cares so so much. and no matter what she does it's never enough. No matter how she changes. No matter how many kind things she goes out of her way to do, they still just hate her. of course it makes her hate herself. how could it not?

i know i've made a joke before about how i would not so easily forgive the people making fun of lizzie at her funeral if i were her but like. it's actually not funny. i'm just thinking about how self hating and starved for love and desperate to have people not hate her lizzie has to be to immediately forgive them all and want to hug these people who laughed at her funeral. like it's not just that she's forgiving, that's not forgiving. that's self worth so low that you'll take anything and it's heart breaking.
