Moonlight is based more on Serenity’s palette, Bright on Eternal Sailor Moon, and Selene on that one beta design with pink hair. Bright is the biggest departure from the original because a yellow outfit blends in with her hair.

Excuse Concept 1: It's fun to draw magical girl designs for characters, and Mabel's the one who would actually be into it in canon

Concept 2: Fire and brimstone type demons totally exist in the GF universe based on Dipper & Mabel's Guide, etc.

Concept 3: Remember the Evilstick??? Oh man, that totally sounds like a thing that would happen in Gravity Falls

Vague story: Mabel wants an overpriced plastic wand based off a tv show she likes, but Stan buys her a shitty knockoff from the dollar store. She's happy with this but annoys everyone around her by playing music and sfx all the time, plus talking to it like its a person.

Dipper and Stan get fed up and secretly throw it away, at which point it becomes clear Mabel was NOT bluffing about it talking back to her because it reappears by her side, angry. That's the point where she starts isolating herself and losing time... Anyway, she gets full on possessed and destroying stuff with magic, but they manage to talk her down eventually and the demon wand kinda just... stays with them???

From there most everything is the same, but Mabel can transform into a magical demon girl and magic blast people, which solves fewer problems than you'd think!

Every so often I remember that the very beginning of TMM establishes that in-universe ALL cryptids are caused by alien parasites and somehow this NEVER comes up again. I feel like this is a concept the fandom should do more with!!! Where's the fan content of Ichigo fighting mothman?!
