:) i certainly have no issue dressing in drag :)
^guy who has no issue dressing in drag btw
glenn said that dennis' drag name is victoria von hemen btw
(Source)
#glenn howerton#guy who should get to dress in drag#im just. ill never be over the fact that glenn wrote Two episodes in season 3 that involve dennis doing drag#i know he doesn't really want to write for the show but there's something so special abt how early sunny was an actor's sandbox#esp hearing glenn talk abt how den is like. an outlet for him and a way to play around with shit he would never do for one reason or anothe#my point being that i think its been a while since he was able to utilize dennis again in that way#but 16 was a definite change. especially with dtamhd it feels like dennis is becoming more glenn again. like he was in the early days#theres a pretty good stretch of the show once it got into the double digits that feels like den was. co-opted.#but like i wonder how it feels to explore sexuality and gender via your character#it must be similar to doing that through fandom and OCs but there's a whole other layer to it here#esp when its not Just being presented as comedic as it was in past seasons. like dennis is Actually queer and this is a normal plot point#its not the punchline like den's femininity often is its literally just part of what makes him able to help mac and dee#id argue we've gotten this in the form of. dennis doing dee's makeup and shit. but#anyway. glenn. now that you have two of your former writing assistants in that writers room i hope you get to do drag again 💀#its been 16 years. show us the new and improved victoria.#i honestly can't imagine pitching something like that to a room of people Without some sort of comedic twist but#man.#ada speaks#iasip#it's always sunny in philadelphia#rcg#i won't ever forget the way he lit up talking abt queer dennis jhksvfjhksvdfgjhkds#love u king...... i hope you get something in s17 that you Certainly Don't Mind

here’s the thing.
if you’re one of the people celebrating our flag means death’s cancellation for whatever reason right now, i need you to realize that this is just a sign that whatever you love is next.
and i’m not saying that out of spite. having your favourite show cancelled is awful, i wouldn’t wish it on anyone. but if our little-gay-pirate-show-that-could can’t get its third and final season, the future of queer media is extremely grim.
ofmd was the definition of a sleeper hit. hbo max had no faith in it when the first season came out. it gained popularity purely through word-of-mouth. but it became one of max’s biggest shows, and it’s since been marketed as their flagship series.
it was the #1 most in-demand series in the world for 8 weeks (7 of those weeks consecutively). it’s currently in the 99.7th percentile of the comedy genre, meaning it’s in higher demand than 99.7% of all comedy series in the u.s. it has a 94% audience and critics score on rotten tomatoes. it’s the most in-demand hbo original series even above euphoria, succession, and the last of us.
it was nominated for 16 awards for the first season alone, including a GLAAD award and a peabody award. the second season was just nominated for an art directors guild award, which it was previously nominated for and won in the same category for season one.
besides awards, ofmd is critically-acclaimed and praised for its representation (including a cast of majority queer, bipoc, and disabled characters) and themes of anti-colonialism, challenging gender norms/toxic masculinity, and self-discovery/acceptance. it also has a diverse team of directors and writers consisting of several bipoc, women, and queer/trans/non-binary people.
on top of all of this, the plan for the show all along was only ever for three seasons. david jenkins only wanted three seasons for the full romcom structure to tell ed and stede’s story. that’s it. nothing more.
this isn’t an attempt to make you care about the show. but ofmd’s cancellation isn’t just a loss for the fanbase and the cast/crew. it’s a sign that it does not matter how successful or profitable shows highlighting lgbtq+ (or otherwise inclusive) narratives are or how many big names are involved. ofmd would not have been cancelled if it were a straight romcom. they would’ve magically found the budget. but corporate greed doesn’t care about us. they have no respect for queer people or queer media. and in the age of streaming, it’s only a matter of time until we lose all of it.

A female artist/celebrity: Hey, while I'm really happy for all the support you guys as my fans have shown me, can we please establish some boundaries? Some things are starting to make me uncomfortable. Again, I'm grateful but--
Said people the response was aimed towards: Oh so now she thinks she's too good for us? She's so ungrateful, letting all the fame get to her head. Doesn't she know that without us, she wouldn't be as famous? She should just suck it up!

Just scanned the tag and while there are plenty of posts about Kit Harrington doing SLAVE PLAY in the UK, and much fewer noting that Olivia Washington (I'm A Virgo), the co-star is Denzel Washington's daughter in a big stage production debut. In this particular promo interview for it, the idea of Black audiences being invited on certain nights is questioned... And I have to wonder if senior nights, ladies nights (for gender-based performances of shows) or nights for the hearing impaired, or family nights in a theatre setting (all of which occur) have been questioned like this?? It's also interesting that she addressed Kit about it. I know the show is controversial. White people and Black people hate it for varying reasons. Having not seen it but only reading the various opinions and gazes of those who have... I know it covers one Black man's own psychological wrangling with his own perception of his interracial experiences in sexuality entangled with his Blackness and the racialized/racist perceptions of that, entangled with ancestral memory in enslavement, and embodied by several people ranging in color and shade from Black to white. ...And it's comedy/drama(trauma). So I'm not surprised. Theatre that is challenging and offensive and at the margins should always be an essential thing, regardless of my own personal disgust about a piece. Anyway, I'm ending w/ this video of Janelle Monae's Screwed for no reason, whatsoever...except maybe because that sexualized gaze, especially when on Blackness and queerness is always fucked up/exploited/etc, etc...:
youtube
Will probably add more when/if I read the play... All that said, I'm glad both lead performers handled those questions well.

I just watched Austentatious: The Queer Eye for the Regency Guy and it truly has everything. A man with the foulest walk who has a hyperfixation on Napoleon. A homosexual cousin. A woman whose father has been “dead” for seven years despite being alive up in the study the whole time. A murderous butler who’s gaslighting everyone. Saucy Sally’s Sausage Shop where all of the actors broke and one was in literal tears over the sexual innuendos. Dream sequence hats. The Chekov reference not being understood and that being baked into the sister’s character. Love wins. A marriage between two freaks who sat next to each other every day at Sunday (everyday) school who both love Napoleon. I’m obsessed.

Ajdldlflf delete later but...
It's kinda annoying to me how in euromusical fandom [actor x] is kinda hated sometimes and ppl assume the worst of him and his conduct towards minority groups etc just because he's kinda bland and heterosexual (some say "too masculine/aggressive") in some roles, while [actor y] is equally if not more bland, "masculine/aggressive" & heterosexual in most of his roles but people like him and nobody complains because ????? idk he's a skinny twink or smth

i always think i'm normal. and then BOOM. mini series eddie
#mhac.txt#it (1990)#he is STILL one of those characters that fills me with overwhelming feeling.#including the overwhelming urge to bite him and shake him around.#i think it's because he's so cute physically and in personality. but i don't mean that in an infantalizing way.#especially because there's so much more nuance to him. like. the amount of times he's trying to be brave and stand on his feet#despite being scared or cowardly and vulnerable. a vulnerability particularly fed AND taken advantage of by the manipulation of his mom.#which if you cross compare that against bev and her dad it's. explosions.#i think also there's a sort of Softness in dennis christopher as 1990 era eddie. because he's just a soft cutie guy.#but also the way that eddie himself is kind. still easy to frighten and not always willing to take the reigns. but can be pushed to#and is compassionate with the guys of his company and all. still has a particular compassion for the losers as well. even richie.#which is. its own can of worms. as much as i love the idea of them i won't try to find and implant queer subtext where there might be none.#but. pennywise calling young eddie girlboy. and also the way in which both eddie actors. they deal out teases and agitation with richie.#that's inevitable when it comes to richie. but there's. TO ME. more of a fondness for him by these actors than the hard line irritation#in 2017/2019. which i'm not faulting jack dylan grazer or james ransone for. especially not when it's just part of the stylistic choices.#but. miniseries eddie holds so much more power to me than 2017/2019 eddie.#i didn't mean to write a whole essay in the tags but here we are

finally watched heartstopper because one of the part time kids from when i worked at the bakery really wanted me to for the longest time and i was feeling sentimental. i don’t think i have ever wished so strongly to have had a piece of media as a teenager + have never felt so much gratitude that kids get to have it now

yeah, I just spend like 5 minutes on tumblr, and I already get enough of it, I need a long break.
Y'all need to read up on queer theory, because that shit isn't cool. Queer theory is build on advocating for and normalizing literal sexual assault on children*, and also doesn't make any fucking sense, it isn't even really about gay or trans people's rights, so no, I don't want to build a beautiful queer world with you.
Not a coincidence so many people here support an actual child rape religion and at the same time see cops as their worse enemy, is it?
Like what the fuck are y'all doing?
Honestly this website is so nasty sometimes, and why I think the complete lack of critical thinking and idealization of extreme ideology is so damn dangerous, and I will never back down from that hill.
(I'm not blaming individual people from using the word queer, I used it in the past too, but goddamn it is time people open their eyes to what this theory actually says and does).
*this isn't about someone making an ideological critique of queer theory, people can believe whatever they want. This is literally ACTUALLY FUCKING DIRECTLY STATED with direct quotes by those fuckers who made queer theory and is also a natural implication of the way it operates - it is not about normalizing a specific group of marginalized people, but breaking down all boundaries and norms surrounding sex, which to me at least sounds far more helpful for sicko freaks with evil intentions than it does for good and normal gay and trans people.

@gay-jewish-bucky IT REALLY FUCKING IS. No matter what if it’s a canon gay couple it’s just not going to be good enough for the exact same people who complain about wanting more gay rep. Part of getting gay rep is accepting that we’re going to get rep for all kinds of gays, all kinds of relationships, all levels of relevance - not just the kind that some people want or deem acceptable.
We finally have what is, in my opinion, a pretty well balanced canon queer ship that isn’t just ~hints and eye contact~, that isn’t squeaky clean, that have meaningful conversations and show love and affection like it’s not a big deal. It’s treated on equal levels to any straight ship on the show and I think that’s a breath of fresh goddamn air tbh.
I know people are always going to complain, but this topic has gotta be one of the most annoying and most exhausting ones. People should be happy we get any kind of lgbtqa+ rep, and that that rep is getting not just more diverse over the years but better too. There’s never going to be Perfect Queer Representation and to bitch and hold out for it?? To nitpick the fuck out of every ship?? Why would you, y’know??
#sorry for ranting jksdhfkds#i feel ancient saying this - like a grandma regaling her grandkids with tales of walking to and from school in the snow barefoot - but#i remember when there were no canon queer ships on tv or in movies#there wasnt shit for any of us#no matter what your label was#and now we have enough canon ships and canon lgbtqa+ characters that people feel they're entitled to be picky??#like my dude we just started getting this kind of content in my teen + adult life#maybe appreciate how far we've gotten studios and companies to come in a relatively short amount of time#maybe appreciate the positive for 2 seconds before you start demanding stuff and whining when you dont get it. especially when it#wasnt promised to you  - btw. in regards to the ship i was talking about the showrunners said it was going to go down differently from#the books. they aged up the characters afterall + they were smashing 2 series together to create a whole new thing. they warned people#we got the canon ship. they put a lot of thought into writing it and the actors - who are big fans of the books - put a lot of thought#into acting it. that's the other thing!! actors who give a shit a bout providing quality queer rep!!! why are y'all not talking about that?#that's also not a given when it comes to people playing queer roles. there's a lot special going on here and to be so negative..#idk man it's doing a huge disservice to a lot of people + it ignores the progress made + it's whiny and annoying#i'm annoyed. does it show?? i think it might show#sdhjfsdkfs#sorry again for turning my reply into a rant. cole ur an angel and i love u#replies#maison speaks
