I am once again playing Jedi Fallen Order and I am once again blissfully happy to be playing a very fun game, but also FURIOUS that I gotta watch some red headed boy with sassy lil comebacks running around with a double bladed lightsaber with a little droid on his shoulder and know that he is NOT in fact, Ben Skywalker. 😤
#jedi fallen order#ben skywalker#star wars#Disney is cowards and should have made the EU an animated series#I'm also back in my luke and mara feels after rereading HttE and I am devastated over their loss#it could have been so good#we could have had the sickest female redemption arc this side of the post ep6#and to have ben skywalker#jaina jacen and anakain?#we were lowkey spoiled with the EU and didn't even known it#minus all the weird shit that went down.#I'm just in my missing star wars era#and I can' t play Jedi Survivor because I dont have a PC or PS5 🥲#gotta live vicariously through youtube which is only 1/2 as fun

About the "two" Claudias
I was watching a yt video where the creator was asking questions about plot holes in season 2 of Interview With the Vampire. One of the "plot holes" in question being Claudia's inconsistent characterization between seasons 1 and 2 (having nothing to do with the actress change, but instead inconsistencies in the writing). The major difference being that Claudia was a ruthless and conniving vampire at the end of season 1, but cowed and vulnerable in season 2.
I don't completely agree with the premise that Claudia's characterization is inconsistent, I think a lot of the changes were natural responses to the trauma she experienced at the end of the first season, as well as the trauma she endured in Europe during the war. I don't deny that the difference can be a little jarring especially when binge-watching the show, and it got me started down the path of trying to figure out why she changed like this. (This is all just my interpretation by the way!)
Someone commented that maybe Claudia was inconsistent because memories are inconsistent, and I like this idea. I think Louis' memories of Claudia while narrating the planning and death of Lestat could have been influenced by Louis' feelings about the whole situation. Louis deeply loved Claudia, but I do think that he had some resentments towards her specifically because of Lestat's "murder," resentments that he pushed deep down. The feelings did bubble up though; like when he put his hands on her for the first and only time when she tried burning Lestat's body, or when he had Dreamstat call Claudia a mistake. Even when he yells at her about choosing the coven over him, a blow he would've felt after following Claudia to Europe and then realizing he wasn't companion enough for her ("sit in your choices, sister!" projection much?). I'm not trying to take Claudia's rapaciousness (in a good way) away from her, but it's possible that Louis described her being as predatory as he did because of this subconscious resentment.
Mostly though, I think that Claudia is depressed and lost in season 2 because she started to realize that Lestat was probably right. Claudia and Louis spent miserable years during the war not being able to find any other vampires except for Daciana, who immediately immolated herself, leaving Claudia devastated. When Lestat told Claudia and Louis about Magnus throwing himself into the fire, Claudia refused to believe him (s1, ep6). Watching Daciana do the same thing probably had Claudia remembering what Lestat said; if he wasn't lying about Magnus then maybe he wasn't lying about European vampires rejecting her.
She was happy when she found the coven in Paris, but then was immediately hurt by them too, literally the moment she joined them. Making her play a child night after night, being referred to as a bird. Possibly recalling what Lestat said about the European vampires viciousness? Lestat: "If you find them [other vampires], which you won't, they would shred you to strips, because you are built like a bird..." (s1, ep5) Santiago: "You'll be their little birdy for the next 50 years." (s2, ep3)
Lestat was correct about Europe and it's vampires and I think this shook her.
Claudia was also very hurt and angry at Louis too. Louis chose Lestat over her again, because by not burning Lestat's body, Louis left open the possibility that Lestat could take his revenge on her. She was stuck in Europe with the man who betrayed her and she had no choice but to stay with him because she still loved him, she just knew that he would never put her first. I think that Claudia also picked up on Louis' resentment towards her, at least in his extreme grief for Lestat, and this would have made her feel terrible. This is why she was so desperate to join and stay in the coven despite their abuse.
In short, Claudia's confidence was completely destroyed by Louis' betrayal, her inability to find community for a decade after leaving New Orleans, and by realizing that her evil Dad was kind of right.
(and this is why finding Madeleine was the best thing that happened to Claudia but well...)
#idk maybe this is incredibly obvious to everyone else#but I wanted to try to answer this creators question#or idk maybe i'm full of it and this is just corn plating#still fun tho#to think about#claudia de lioncourt#?#louis de pointe du lac#lestat de lioncourt#theatre des vampires#interview with the vampire#iwtv#long post

IWTV S2 OST - Hella Spoilery
Daniel Hart woke up and chose violence, I see. (Link)
I don't wanna hear any of the tracks until I actually see the episodes they're in--the emotional impact will hit so much harder that way. But the titles alone have me like 👀👀👀
Ep1: What Can the Damned Really Say to the Damned?
We were already devastated by the strings in Ep1, such beautiful tracks, and my favorite scene in S2 so far, as Louis just cried his eyes out over knowing his baby girl could dream. It was such a perfect nod to Merrick, and Louis thanking her for showing him Claudia's diaries.
EMMY. 👏 WHEN? 👏
Ep2: Do You Know What It Means to be Loved By Death?
These definitely look like they're going in episode order--this is all Theatre stuff we've seen bits of in the teasers. I'm unsure about Ep3 & Ep4 though; I'm just going off of my hunches ATM?
Ep3: No Pain | Ep4: I Want You More Than Anything in the World
WOAH. 😲
I see you Mr. Gentleman Death, but hold on a sec--
Welp, it's official, Tale of the Body Thief is definitely cooking; the Raglan James leaks weren't lying! I am SO happy! And terrified!
If they're going by the order in the books, not the teaser/promo, then rule #4 is about Lestat, and "killing your own kind."
I have no idea why this track is way at the bottom of the playlist
But I suspect it's also related to this episode, and whatever goes down with the Coven/Theatre vs Claudia & Louis.
We were told in a recent review that "I Don't Like Windows When They're Closed" is the song Claudia performs as Baby LouLou; I am SO excited for this! It's gonna be WEIRD, I can feel it. 👶🏾🎼
These tracks are way at the bottom of the playlist and IDKY, but it's obvs Claudia as Baby LouLou, and that's just French for "I Don't Like Windows...."
Ep5: Don't Be Afraid, Just Start the Tape
The backstory we've all been waiting for! ^0^
And they already warned us that Ep5 was gonna be effing NUTS, so I imagine Armand will tell his story to DANIEL--in SanFran????
Ep6: Like the Light by which God Made the World Before He Made Light | Ep7: I Could Not Prevent It
👀👀👀☀️🔥💀🔥🎭🔥⚰️⚰️⚰️🔥💀🍿
Who TF is Francis? Francis of Assssi? XD
PLEASE let this be Lestat's POV when he first got to NOLA--I wanna know why he went there, and where he was BEFORE! Was he asleep? Is he STILL asleep in 2022?!
👀👀👀☀️🔥💀🔥🎭🔥⚰️⚰️⚰️🔥💀🍿
PLEASE let this be Louis discovering the Fire Gift as he lights those mofos up! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
The Garden of Satan is giving me Children of Satan/Darkness vibes--maybe this is about Nicki ALSO dying in a fire? 👀 Jfc this is too much.
Ep8: Unannounced Mystery Title
I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and assume the PLETHORA of songs left on this list are from Ep8, cuz I literally have zero context for it--all we know is that it will supposedly segue into S3 TVL.
The crooner is back! But will it be REAL Lestat? in 2022? Rockstar!Lestat!? Flashbacks to 1900s!Loustat? Or more DreamStat?
Yeah, I got nuthin.
Lestat mentioned Le Bucheron before about dogs vs lambs--
--so I'm wondering if this has anything to do with Les feeling like he's still being "herded" by lesser vampires?
Or perhaps GREATER vampires (Armand.... Magnus.... TWMBK?)
This is all giving me heavy TVL vibes!
HOWEVER--
"Followed Closely By My Madness" could be for Nicki, but we all know it could also be referring to LOUIS, a la Merrick. ☀️💀🔥⚰️👀
I am SO STOKED for this season, they better stop playing with me!

Hello. Me again. I was wondering if you could make a post of how Charlie steamrolls Vaggie. I know it's a recurring flaw but I wanted to hear from you.
Of course. I’ve been wanting to make a Chaggie flaws post for a bit so this can be at least part 1 XD preface with I ADORE them (sometimes with a side of Lute/Vaggie) and flaws are part of any good relationship. My very gay wife and I have many but remain very happily married for over three years now :)
Also having just rewatched AGAIN this is fresh 😎 (#idontknowhowmanytimesiverewatchednowpleasesendhelp). So we immediately open into a Disney-esque song that Vaggie begs Charlie not to sing (in the original AND new pilots!) Charlie literally sings over her and runs down the street, annoying everyone in the pride ring. She ignores Vaggie’s commentary and (insider) advice. When she gets back, we see one of the rare cases that Vaggie IS NOT fully in tune with Charlie’s emotions and pushes her to watch the commercial before she can vent about the meeting. This may be intentional to cheer her up though 🧐
Ep2 Chaggie is cute and supportive and more involves Charlie steamrolling Angel and his emotions in favor of Sir Pentious.
Ep3 Charlie flings the whole trust exercise on Vaggie, who is very obviously uncomfortable with this. Ideally she would have given Vaggie a heads up before in front of everyone… or at least recognized that discomfort. But nope. Completely steamrolled. To her credit, Charlie is the first to volunteer and later DOES apologize for putting too much pressure on Vaggie.
But the rooftop. The fucking rooftop. Charlie interrupts the one consensual throwing into a turf war (Nifty REALLY wanted to be thrown XD). Then when Vaggie literally says that she is NOTHING if she isn’t useful, Charlie DOESNT CORRECT HER. Like dude. You don’t try saying “you do so much” in that situation. You tell your girl to fucking love herself dammit and that her self worth should not revolve around you! But it’s like Charlie doesn’t even hear this… she wants to put a bandaid on but she needs to stop the actual bleeding here. And doesn’t. She leaves. Yes Vaggie asked her to but sometimes you should persist a bit more imho. Instead we see an awesome power ballad (also her Assassin’s Creed climbs bro), where Vaggie sings about “it felt so good to be understood” after THIS convo XD I’m sorry I can’t. Gurl you are more than armor, please love yourself. Notably, Charlie IS NOT HAPPY even when the residents are bonding (her one goal right?), until Vaggie is ok. And this scene is very cute and sweet.
Ep4 is more Huskerdust focused, but we do get some cute supportive girlfriend talk and Charlie actually listening. The one time it backfires XD I AM glad Vaggie doesn’t put this all on herself when Charlie returns home devastated.
Ep5 is more Charlie+Lucifer but we get a cute intro to future father-in-law (guys. Why are they not engaged yet?? I was in like three months XD) good tour, minimal steamrolling that I can find. Charlie does completely miss Vaggie’s reaction to Lucifer talking about heaven sucking, but she was facing the other way and kinda focused on him. And she does not notice Vaggie’s very obvious fake enthusiasm over going to heaven at the end.
Ep6 - the BIG ONE. Charlie seemingly does not care about Vaggie’s discomfort going to heaven. Like dude, at least ask why? Maybe? Or do you even notice the VERY obvious hesitancy on every convo about heaven? Idk if she was assuming she knew or just was too excited and missed it. But this happens so many times this episode. Yes, Vaggie REALLY should have given Charlie at least a heads up about what she was walking into. But it helps when someone asks “what’s wrong?”… especially for those of us who are emotionally constipated and trauma-fueled…
Ep7 is frustrating - how long has Vaggie been on the couch now? A week? Their confrontation is so painful. Like can you think of a reason Vaggie may have lied or just not corrected you about this major aspect of her life? Girl has had your back for three years essentially without question. You need to talk. Not cry for a week. But again, Charlie comes first and Vaggie hates herself too much to combat this. Especially right now. Charlie can focus on nothing else all day until she finally learns actions mean more than words. Meanwhile Vaggie gets the shit beaten out of her and reminded to live for others. As much as I love this scene, I do NOT love having a person as a “reason to live.” I hope she develops beyond this but if this is what Vaggie needs to survive life right now so be it (I actually meant to type Lute instead of life but both work XD)
Their apology is super cute and I think there will be some great wing fun in bed tonight XD Vaggie IS steamrolled here again but this time it’s more legitimate imho. Charlie should not let her apologize after how she treated her today. They BOTH need to apologize dammit.
And finally ep8 - very minimal steamrolling I could find! They are just adorable and perfect in every way. Wow that ended up long XD sorry and you’re welcome? XD

Voyager rewatch s3 ep6: Remember
I love B'Elanna episodes, and this is one of her best. There's so much good material for B'Elanna here, and Roxann Dawson gives a fantastically nuanced and hearfelt performance, playing both her and the character of Korenna in this one.
This is probably one of the best episodes of the whole series in terms of directly, confrontationally taking on a relevant social issue, in the way that the original series did in the 60s. The absolutely terrifying thing about it is how much more revelant it's gotten since it first aired, and it just shows how important Star Trek is in terms of saying things that no other show would talk about, or would even be allowed to talk about, in today's political climate.
It starts off nice and normal, with some aliens, the Enarans, visiting Voyager and helping them make some improvements in engineering. B'Elanna is working with two of the scientists, who have been there for a few days, and who she has a good rapport with. We get a little scene with B'Elanna being Harry's wingman with the younger scientist, who likes him (B'Elanna and Harry are such cute bffs!!! I love it!!!) and then B'Elanna goes back to her quarters, where she goes to sleep and has a very racy dream, and has to be woken up from it the next morning because she missed the start of her duty shift. She then tells her other bff Chakotay all about her racy dream, and he's all like 'get it girl, I won't telll anybody you were late for work because of your sex dream, I got you fam.' (Because on Star Trek, people just tell their friends about their sex dreams, or the sexy candle ghosts they inherit, whatever. Nobody has any boundaries on a starship, I guess! lol)
But she keeps having the dreams, and in them she seems to be experiencing someone else's life. Eventually the dreams break through when she's awake, and when she collapses in the corridor, they realize their telepathic alien visitors must be behind it somehow, but they deny intentionally doing anything.
Meanwhile, the dreams go from being fun and romantic to more and more serious. Korenna, the woman whose life B'Elanna is experiencing, is torn between her lover, who comes from a culture outside her society's mainstream, and her father, who's part of the ruling class that oppresses her lovers people. We learn the love affair is clandestine because his people are subject to curfews, and ID checkpoints, and forced deportations. Korenna starts out sweet and innocent and sympathetic to his people, but as he tells her more of what's really going on, she doesn't want to believe that her father could be involved in something so terrible. Her father uses every manipulation tactic to justify his actions, and preys on his daughter's fears to win her over to his side. It's an absolutely devastating scene. Watching her descent into radicalization is horrifying and tragic, and all too familar a sight in our real world of alt-right conspiracy theories- chillingly, the things her father says are the same right-wing talking points we see today on the news.
B'Elanna eventually learns the memories belong to Jora Mirell, the older scientist she was working with, who regretted what she'd done, and wanted someone who would care and understand to know what her society had tried so hard to scrub from their history. When she dies, B'Elanna interupts the farewell party for the Enarans, and confronts their leader for the cover up of the genocide his people perpetrated. He denies and makes excuses, the other Enarans don't want to believe it, and the Voyager crew looks uncomfortable, and suggests that she shouldn't say it in the middle of the party. But B'Elanna's not anywhere in the vicinity of fucking around, and she says it all right there, where everyone can hear it.
Later, Captain Janeway tells B'Elanna she believes her, but that Voyager can't interfere with another society, and they must let the Enarans go, and leave them to do what they will, even if it means burying the knowledge again. B'Elanna is still distraught and outraged that no one will acknowledge what happened, and that no justice will be done. But Janeway tells her to go talk to the younger scientist she worked with before she leaves. B'Elanna does, and appeals to her to open her mind and think about what she told them. The Enaran woman agrees to telepathically link with B'Elanna so she can experience Jora Mirell's memories and see what happened for herself. The last shot is of her in the first memory, in Korenna's place, just like B'Elanna was. We're left with the hope that now that someone on their planet had the courage to look the truth in the eye, maybe their society can acknowlege it, and change for the better.
This whole story just hits so hard in light of current events. Are there Israeli parents, right now, telling their children the same things the father in this episode told his daughter, to justify their govenment's genocide against the Palestinians? Somewhere, on some news network, right now, I guarantee there's a right-wing pundit making the same speech the father makes in the town square in this episode, telling his followers how immigrants, or trans people, are dangerous, and undermining our society, and must be controlled or exterminated, for our safety. It's happened so many times in the US, and around the world, and then they say it was for the best, or that it didn't happen at all, so that when they do it again, they can claim that they would never, that it could never happen, don't be ridiculous, we're not evil, what we're doing is right, and for your own good. It makes me want to scream with rage, and I teared up watching B'Elanna march into that party full of complacent people, and speak truth to power, and force them to confront their own complicity in the evil system they benefit from. B'Elanna was and is such an important character to me, because here was a female character who was allowed to express her rage, and the audience was allowed, and even encouraged (some of the time at least), to sympathize with her. I hate when they try to write off her anger as being 'just Klingon things lol' because that is absolutely not what it is, at all. It's the anger of someone who's been marginalized, who's seen injustice, and won't fucking stand for it anymore, anywhere. Who knows everyone deserves better, and will fucking fight for it, whenever, wherever. I love that this episode lets us see that, and that in this story, her outrage is what drives the first steps for these people to start down the path to healing and change. The Enarans are telepathic, so Korenna choosing B'Elanna to relive her experiences wasn't just because she was there. She must have felt that B'Elanna was the person who would feel it the most deeply and fight hardest for what was right.
This episode makes me sad and angry, but it's supposed to. In a country where people are trying to ban teaching our history in our schools, an episode like this is more important than ever. Maybe in some state where schools aren't allowed to teach children about slavery, or the holocaust, or the genocide of Native Americans, or any queer history, maybe some kid will see this Star Trek episode, because their conservative parents think it's just a show about spaceships. And maybe this story will stick with them when their parents try to tell them that it's okay to hate one group of people or another. Maybe they'll hear their parents echoing a villain's words, and they'll start to consider that maybe their parents are wrong. And maybe they'll start to think critically enough to resist the poison of bigotry and break free one day. All it takes is one person to start questioning, and that's how things start to change.
I'm sure there's someone out there who doesn't like this episode, who could find plot holes, or something to criticize, but not me. That's not what's important to me here. This story is what Star Trek is about, at it's core. It's anti-fascist, anti-racist, it's about challenging and dismantling systems of oppression. Since 1966, it's been there to say something hopeful for all us who believe humanity can do better, and I'm profoundly grateful to have it.
Tl;dr: A hard-hitting episode that explores how easily even good people can become indoctrinated to bigoted, xenophobic ideas, and which shows us how even one person standing up and looking it in the eye can make a difference. Absolutely top notch, essential Star Trek viewing.

Addiction
For as emotionally devastating as it was, the end of Ep6 actually seems like a turning point in the narrative as far as Ray's plot--more specifically, his relationship with Mew. Up to this point, we've witnessed Ray's struggles with moving on from Mew, and we know his attachment runs so deep because it developed at an especially bleak point in Ray's life.
It's this line that cuts so deep for me because we know that this isn't true, but Ray doesn't want to lose Mew. He can't. Every time he says he's okay with how things are, it sounds like a desperate effort to convince himself. Ray has no choice but to accept this, because even though he hasn't technically lost Mew, Mew doesn't run after him this time. It's not Mew who shows up to talk Ray down.
There's an interesting mirror between these two scenes. One is full of anger, the other is full of despair. But they're both overflowing with pain. Pain that Ray doesn't know how to deal with, so it pours out in self-destructive ways.
Mew is understandably taken aback by Ray's behavior, frustrated by everything he's learned--in that way, it makes sense that he doesn't chase after Ray. But Sand is insulted by Ray just like everybody else, and he runs after him. Unlike when Mew saved Ray, Ray is making it intentionally difficult to save him. He's shoved every insult at Sand, in addition to physically shoving him down, and Sand still chases him.
We know Ray is addicted to alcohol, and I think he's also developed an addiction to the hope of being loved by Mew. But now the concept of addiction plays such a big role in Ray’s plot because it’s what’s keeping him alive, just as much as it’s destroying him. If Ray doesn't drink, he’s left to face all the self-loathing and despair welling up inside. If Ray does drink, he either drinks himself to a state of danger, or he lashes out at those around him. Ray is walking a dangerous line, drifting between wanting to live and wanting to die.
We know that Sand is going to be Ray's addiction. Which, in my mind, marks the second arc of his transition from Mew to Sand. The last time we saw him contemplate his emergency contact, he was sitting in the bathtub, the same bathtub he tried to commit suicide in 2 years ago. In Ep7, he’s in the bathtub—only this time he’s with his new emergency contact.
In equating Ray's relationship with alcohol to his relationship with Sand: there's a dependency, sure. It's a distraction from his pain. But the destructive element comes in the need to sabotage that relationship...because Ray doesn't think he deserves it? Because the thought of being loved is desirable, just as much as it is terrifying?

Thoughts and feels after Arcane s2 ep6
I'm still processing episode 6. I'm really in my feelings about this. They had like 0.5 seconds of peace before the shitstorm landed and when it did it was so brutal and devastating.
I love the theme of peace being the justification for violence because it's nailed home again and again. Also the more relatable aspect of family creating a sense of hope but also vulnerability. Prevuously in s1 I couldn't relate to Vander or Silco putting the girls first out of love. But now seeing Jinx develop this love for her adopted kid, Isha, tied in with the young Silco and Vander flashbacks, I can suddenly understand where all 3 of them are coming from now much more. It gives so much more depth to s1 like dang that next s1 rewatch is gonna all the more richer for this.
The people who are trying to do good and live in peace are just getting obliterated by the ones who's peace was disturbed and didn't get therapy so now the hurt people disturb others peace to try and bring back their own missing piece of peace like it's not just an endless cycle of trauma and suffering. So stupid and rude and so historically and accurately human.
Really worried about Viktor and so sad he genuinely had a good thing going, so scary for all those people how they collapsed to the ground and screamed. It's so brutal because we don't know what Jayce knows, so he is just presented to us as an unhinged maniac murderer. But if you know the lore you know the hexcore is part of something
Fuck Caitlyn tbh, sure she helps but it's way too little too late.
I also wish we saw more of Echo through this and more about his colony and the impacts they have been suffering in more detail. I know they can only do so much but it would have been neat.
I'm gonna muse over all this more while laying sideways in the foetal position.

I agree about the episode being connected to Wat and his love for movies also if it was all a dream why would all their frienda be there? even Namo and Sani are there, I feel like it is more like Akks gay fantasies imagining him ans Aye in every movie Wats mention, alternating scenes in the real world
About the ep6 kiss I also feel like it was one of the best kisses in the show, with the one in Akks house in ep12, and I feel like it was such a good kiss because it was how Akk imagined it to be like! but in reality he is a lot more awquard with his expressing love and affection and it took him a wile to be confortable enough in showing affection, so in a way it make sense that the dream kiss was so good, I don't know if this makes sense
Anyway if the cowboy scene isn't a reference to Brokwback Mountain the team is gonna hear from me! come on! It has to be Akk imagining a good ending for Jack and Ennis!
yesyesyes!! I had that exact same theory I just couldnt put it to words lmao. I think it's either gonna be Wat making a movie about movies and asking them to star in it and recreate certain scenes or it's Akk imagining said scenes as Wat includes them in his movie. also the cowboy scene is definitely a BM reference I mean---
can't wait lmao.
About the ep6 kiss: while it was happening I was kinda like something's a little off lol? idk the dead silence and then the sudden transition to a different scene etc. so yeah I should've known. but I was still devastated to find out later on lmao. but you're right, it showed how much he wanted it and also the fact that it was perfect in his dream but kinda awkward in real life? made sense.

Ok, one more Scavengers Reign post before I sleep. This one's about how the narrative(s) unfold(s) and pacing. Under a cut because spoilers for everything up to ep 9 ("the mountain")
One thing I am very much enjoying about this show so far is how we get more and new information about Vesta and our survivors pre-crash.
Not everything is shown or revealed to us right away. And while yes, duh, that's par for the course for this sort of story / narrative, SR balances its present and past really well. Specifically, I love how it tells us about the alien ecosystems that the characters interact with.
Take how we meet the 'mimic pods' (someone lmk if there's a different fandom-preferred name for 'em) in ep5. Something's clearly not 'right' between the creepy graveyard of wildlife + Sam getting attacked, and then in ep6's cold open, we see how they more or less reproduce and keep spreading. How widely have these things spread? Is this cycle of mimicry and devastation the only way they propagate?
Same thing with the 'heart-asite' (again lmk if there's a better name). It's introduced in ep7, explored more in ep8, and then in ep9, we get some backstory. But how was John infected initially? And where did he and the woman (I don't know her name, oops) come from? How long had they been surviving on Vesta?
Personally, I enjoy see something come up, have it explained a little later on, and then watch the characters struggle to understand it. Something something dramatic irony.
As seen above, I have so many questions about the flora and fauna, the different biomes, everything...but I am fully aware that the show is going to answer things on its own terms at its own pace, and I don't expect stuff to be spelled out for me on its first appearance.
Vesta is full of mysteries. It is inherently foreign and nigh-indecipherable to outsiders (humans). But it's clearly brimming with things that have survived, even thrived, in a very hostile landscape, and I like that we get little bits of it at a time instead of big expository explainers that clearly show how everything works and how all the pieces fit together. It reminds me a lot of Jeff Vandermeer's Annihilation / Area X trilogy, another one of my favorite pieces of media (at least the books).
Would love to know if anyone else has any thoughts on this. Hopefully this whole ramble makes sense! Stoked for the final trio of episodes this week.
#scavengers reign#scavengers reign spoilers#here i go yakking about scifi again#i hope some stuff remains unanswered tbh. it helps with the alien flavor of things#somethings are innately unknowable or incomprehensible#and we must navigate around that as best we can#rowan speaks

Ok I’m sorry if you’ve already answered this before but I saw some of your older posts talking about your headcanons regarding Helia’s Dynamic with Miele as well as Flora’s dynamic with Saladin and they were just so wholesome! I’m just a sucker for wholesome (future) in-law dynamics. So anyway, it made me wonder if you had any thoughts or headcanons on Helia’s dynamic/relationship with Flora’s parents, Rhodos and Alyssa. Its already a crime that we don’t get to see Flora’s family that much in canon (not to mention her parents don’t get introduced until season 6/7 of all things). Its an even bigger crime that we get practically zero interactions between Helia and Flora’s parents in canon (from what I remember). Like at least between him and Miele, we get a little something in the comics, but NOTHING with Rhodos and Alyssa! So yeah, I’d like to hear your thoughts
AHHHHHHHHHH OBSESSED
i have mentioned this before (teehee)! but it's not suuuper fleshed out so i'm taking advantage of your ask to talk about helia more ajdgkdag
you're so right it's an Absolute Crime that we didn't get to see her parents till the later seasons (and we don't even know if they're what rainbow/iginio originally intended her parents to be like either), but i actually really like her parents! rhodos being So Goofy and making a bunch of puns?? AMAZING also fully obsessed with both flora and her mother having strangling vines that grab everyone like we really see where flora gets it from aldhgjlg
anyway, with how friendly they both are, i think they would fully adore helia! especially since flora probably talks about him a lot or at the very least doesn't hide that she's in a relationship, i think they would end up knowing a lot more about him than he realizes ajhdgl i definitely don't think it would take till s7 for them to properly meet though! i can see flora officially introducing him near the end of s3 or sometime in s5 (considering the earth gap year)!
but Anyway, headcanons!!
rhodos and alyssa are absolutely devasted that helia has next to zero knowledge about plants and plant care, so rhodos takes it upon himself to teach helia every single time he visits
rhodos is also very excited to say every single pun/joke about plants he knows since he figures helia hasn't heard them yet (helia: takes one step outside - rhodos: well, I can't WHEAT to see you again ;;;;))
in ep6 it shows them taking care of the magiwolves and since i also hc that helia has some good medical knowledge, i like to think that he'd be able to impress them with that! i can see them comparing notes and maybe even asking for help with other animals!
in the comics, they mention that flora and helia played together when they were kids and i hc that it was actually alyssa who remembered him and told them!
rhodos is way too friendly and cheerfully tells helia that he can call him dad if he wants to. helia's too nervous to tell him he thinks that's weird as hell ajdgl
helia still calls them mr. rhodos and mrs. alyssa decades after meeting them aladhg
i mentioned in the miele post that she would eventually ask to know when he's going on missions, and i think after a couple years (probably around s7 time), rhodos and alyssa would also ask for that information. timmy helps him make a little timetable that he can just fill out and they can access whenever
i think i mentioned it in the first post but they absolutely try to subtly drop hints that they're okay with florelia getting married aldghl (they're not subtle At All but they're trying okay alhdgl)
helia would definitely be a little awkward and nervous around them at first, even more so after experiencing how nice they are to him. i can see him feeling like he doesn't deserve it or like he needs to earn their respect. that would last for a couple of years but eventually he would have a moment where it just kind of clicks that they literally don't care what he does as long as he treats flora with respect and love.
after that, he would randomly get a lot more comfortable with them and they get excited because they think it means florelia are getting married or something ajdhgl
#rhodos says what in carnation unironically actually#its literally canon flora told me#ajhdglhdag#but yeah overall they would love him#especially after seeing how happy he makes flora and how much miele likes him too#its a SHAME we dont have canon information on his immediate family#like saladin is cool and all but please where are his parents i need to know#unfort in true helia brain fashion i think his parents suck ass#and flora and her famil would hate them#(still be cordial but definitely hate them)#teehee#ajdhgladgh#i mean tbf i Can see him with a good family too but childhood trauma is just so much juicier ajhdgl#answered#mine.headcanons#THANK YOU for sending this!! do you have any thoughts about his relationship with them!!#or with miele! i love the big brother vibes he has with her :') its so sweet :')#im so glad that he has a good relationship with miele at least#considering so many wi.nx couples have bad or really awkward relationships with their in laws#its nice to see florelia being happy in florelia land at least ajkdhg
