The Enneagram Types at a Pool Party
Type One: Probably laying out with big sunglasses on talking about how they could have decorated the pool better than the host did.
Type Two: Definitely made snack trays and brought them, giving everyone juice boxes, etc. They are also taking a LOT of pictures and talking their friends’ ears off. Type Three: Almost definitely the host of the pool party. Spends a lot of the time laying out; talks a lot about how much they spent on the pool, how beautiful it is, etc.
Type Four: Pretending they are in a movie while they lay out and stare off into the distance, occasionally dipping their feet into the pool. Type Five: Either stayed inside or, if they do decide to come outside, they are sitting in the shade on their computer or reading a book. Type Six: Making sure everyone has sunscreen on. Definitely had a checklist and is freaking out if they forgot to bring something.
Type Seven: Jumping off the diving board, going down the slide, doing flips, literally just acting like little pool heathens the entire time they are there. Little wild people. Type Eight: They might be laying out and are the person to yell at you if you tip their float. Has shoved at least three people into the pool. 50/50 chance they jump into the pool like the seven has been. Type Nine: Probably was laying out in a chair and fell asleep, they are absolutely getting sunburnt as shit and they know it, they don’t care they are just tired.

The Thinkers of Fantasy: A Look at Enneagram Type Five Characters
The Enneagram is a powerful personality typing system that can help us understand ourselves and others better. Type Fives, also known as the “Investigators,” are characterised by their unique ability to think deeply and critically, as well as their desire for knowledge and understanding. Fantasy literature is full of fascinating characters, and many of them can be classified as Enneagram Type…

People who self-type with rare and "desired" labels, such as INFJs, INTJs, 5s, 4s, IEIs, ILIs and all Ns by extension
Let me ask, to what extent would your self-worth differ if you concluded you were mistyped?
To what extent would your self-worth change if you found typology to be a false idea?
Back when I believed socionics was the answer to everything at 15, I was negatively affected by that interest. I questioned things about myself because I seemed to have traits that didn't fit my EII (INFP,INFj) type, but I settled on it eitherway because of my focus on morality. It didn't help how little self esteem I had to be of the least impressive of the 4 "intelligent" types and in the circles I was in most types were dismissed as "normies" Even worse, socionics changed how I saw others. I believed others lacked moral values and intelligence, thought in a manner inconceivable to me and would fundamentally be bad company for me
The enneagram too had me constantly questioning every aspect of my behavior in order to affirm that I was indeed a "5w4"
If you are invested in personality typing, I think you should consider the influence of your emotions on your investment and take a short break. People who are no longer certain about these systems, it might be useful to share your opinion of them in retrospect

ugh i wish personality tests were real. because i know i would enjoy that shit so much. i love sorting things, myself included, into little boxes this shit is right up my alley. but they have to go and be "unscientific" and "unreliable" and "don't actually tell you anything useful about yourself, stria, why do you even care?"
#lh post#stria speaks#personality tests#mbti#myers briggs#myers-briggs type indicator#enneagram#ocean#the big five#idk what else is out there but. banging my head into the wall WHY are they like this#it's a blessing in disguise i know because we would start judging people by their types so hard and that isn't good#but sigh. just sigh

I’m intrigued by your tags re: Hart. Honestly, I’m not sure that I see him as someone who cares that deeply about military skill when it comes to how he perceives himself in reference to others. I do think you’re onto something, though, when you point to Hart’s being sent to Fort Spencer for a social blunder which he can easily discount as a one-off mistake and not something fundamental to his character. Meanwhile, he characterizes everyone else at Fort Spencer as fundamentally flawed and thus inferior to him.
Hello! Thanks for dropping in with this!
You're right regarding military skill; I don't think that's particularly central to Hart's sense of self or how he wants to be perceived. However, I do think that being skilled generally is something he needs to be. In a civilian context, it would probably manifest differently— likely along intellectual lines, from what we see of him at Fort Spencer. (Really, I think some of it still manifests along intellectual lines— as much as retreating to his books is probably an escape from the situation for him, it also likely allows him to reinforce whatever notions of superiority he already has.) That said, I think under the circumstances, the fact that he seems to be the only soldier at the fort who didn’t fuck up something in the military allows him to also see himself as more skilled in that regard, but all of this can only come from comparing himself to the others around him and finding himself to be more skilled or more competent. (I suppose this all raises some interesting questions about how he regards Reich— who did undoubtedly fuck up in a military context but also is more generally skilled in a military context than Hart. Maybe it helps that, like you say, specifically military competence doesn’t seem to sit as a cornerstone for Hart.) In a better situation, maybe he could settle for merely a self-image of competence or skill, but here, frustrated, it turns into needing to be more competent, more skilled (superior, better, more worthwhile).
I do think a social mistake would be something easier for him to discount, because it doesn't necessarily speak to skill or competence or character. We don't know the details of what it was that happened with Eudora Fitzsimons, but it would be easy to speculate that it was something that could be brushed off as youthful indiscretion at worst or romanticized at best-- something far easier to keep in mind when considering himself without having to see himself as inferior to, or even on the same level as, the others who got sent to Fort Spencer.
#ravenous 1999#hart#obviously enneagram analysis is oversimplified and such#but i think hart probably fits a lot of type five characteristics?#ravenous meta#i hope this is helpful? or what you were looking for? something?#thank you for asking!

omigosh you haven’t done Five?? Blindly boy plz!!
Hi there, sweetie! I really hope you like this a lot!
Five Hargreeves' MBTI Type, Big Three and Enneagram Type
MBTI Type: ENTJ [The Commander]
As ENTJs, Commanders are talkative, high energy, and thrive around people. They seek action and tend to involve themselves in events. They prefer not to spend too much time alone.
They focus more on the big picture than on tiny details—they’re interested in how everything connects together and trust their internal thought process more than they trust past experience.
ENTJs use logic rather than emotion in decision making. They tend to follow what makes sense, rather than what feels right.
They are structured, organized, like to plan ahead and know what’s going to happen. They appreciate rules, processes, and schedules.
Big Three: Libra Sun, Scorpio Moon and Capricorn Rising
Libra Sun: Libra is ruled by the airy part of Venus, making them bon vivants, critical, and artistic — as well as forever stylish.
Scorpio Moon: Scorpio Moons are known for their brooding nature that exudes passion. Once you win them over, they are loyal and unconditional in matters of love.
Capricorn Rising: Capricorn ascendants are known for their efforts and diligence when it comes to attaining success and prosperity.
Enneagram Type: 8w9 [The Diplomat]
Basic Fear: Eights with a nine wing fear being hurt by others. They avoid situations in which they have less control, generally preferring to be in positions of leadership.
Basic Desire: Their basic desire is to guard themselves against threats and control their own destiny. They may express this by asserting independence at a young age.
Diplomats defend themselves by building emotional walls and denying vulnerability. They seek to appear strong, subconsciously believing that being too emotional will make them seem weak.

Enneagram Ones and Fives are alike in many ways, particularly in their reticence to show their emotions directly and in their identification with their minds. [...] Both bring to their relationship a desire to be objective; they both want to avoid falling into sentimentality, or to allow their feelings to cloud their mental clarity. Ones and Fives share a rich mental life of intellectual stimulation, curiosity, and a multiplicity of mutual interests—from the opera to sports to politics to economics to history, and so forth. Ones and Fives often enjoy each other's company and intellectual stimulation, loving to debate and admiring the intelligence and expertise exhibited by the other. They both are highly respectful of personal boundaries, rarely being the one to make the first move in anything regarding intimacy unless they have pretty strong signals from the other that they would be welcomed. Thus, Ones and Fives tend to bring a certain formality and courtesy to each other that can be charmingly courtly and old-fashioned. Ones add to this a concern with logic and order, with systematic thinking, attention to details and the desire to improve the world around them. Fives bring curiosity, the willingness to be intellectually (and sexually) adventuresome, a taste for the bizarre and illogical, and the ability to relish disorder, chaos, and lack of apparent meaning. There is quiet affectionate appreciation in this pairing. If romance develops, it develops slowly but deeply.
#i have found enneagram theories to be quite useful in writing lately#utsumi kaoru#yukawa manabu#i know i'm just looking for confirmation of my suspicion that utsumi is enneagram one#(utsumi has been written inconsistently over the years and so it's been difficult to pin down her type as it would be true in real life)#but this profile is quite accurate as a depiction of yukawa and utsumi's relationship#the rest of the article talks about the problems that can arise in a relationship and is also extremely relevant to what we've seen so far#especially - quote: 'both can become too self-contained,evolving their lives in separate spheres'#enneagram#enneagram one#enneagram five

psychoanalyzing chase cause i dont wanna study calculus
ENFP for sure - he is clearly directed by his Dominant Ne. In many episodes, we see his quick thought process in problem-solving (see Toffee Break VI/ep 23 as an example). He quickly musters a solution as to how to solve the problem at hand, at which Deacon says "How did you know she would save him?" and Chase responds "I didn't, but I had a hunch." He explains his thought process, which demonstrates his proficiency in reading between the lines and his people-reading skills. In this arc, we see the disparity between his and Deacon's thought processes. While Deacon works more with linear thinking and organized plans, Chase follows his intuition of what could be the best approach, working with his perception - many times unorganized, but undoubtedly more creative.
He is very directed toward the future, optimistic and, at times, naive. In almost every arc, there is at least one scene of him daydreaming about the future and its possibilities. He doesn't have a "plan" for it, mostly working for it as it comes. Even if his interests seem more physical and tangible (dancing, music, fashion, etc., which is a stereotype for ESFPs), this does not mean he is a Se Dom. Se users are usually more grounded, appreciating the present over future possibilities. Also, Chase is constantly distracted by his own thoughts, to the point of ignoring things around him, which is rather uncommon for Se Doms.
The Aux Fi is obvious - the dude is absurdly connected to his feelings, and they dictate his goals, but not in such a way that negates Ne dom, as his values are more flexible than a Fi dom's. Fi doms usually have a more guarded personality as a way to protect their values and avoid criticism. They perceive their reality through their feelings before leaping into action; ENFPs do the opposite. His values are strong, and he puts them above harmony with others (see his relationship with his aunt as an example, and his fight with Deacon in Toffee Break - his stubbornness in recognizing Deacon's perspective is a great example as well). This rules out ENFJ as well.
He also fills out the ENFP bingo, so there's that - dude is a complete manic pixie girl (boy?). Can relate.
For enneagram: 7w8 - by the Enneagram Institute: "Sevens are extroverted, optimistic, versatile, and spontaneous. Playful, high-spirited, and practical, they can also misapply their many talents, becoming overextended, scattered, and undisciplined. They constantly seek new and exciting experiences but can become distracted and exhausted by staying on the go. They typically have problems with impatience and impulsiveness. At their Best: they focus their talents on worthwhile goals, becoming appreciative, joyous, and satisfied.
[…] The root of their problem is common to all of the types of the Thinking Center: they are out of touch with the inner guidance and support of their Essential nature. As with Fives and Sixes, this creates deep anxiety in Sevens. They do not feel that they know what to do or how to make choices that will be beneficial to themselves and others. Sevens cope with this anxiety in two ways. First, they try to keep their minds busy all the time. As long as Sevens can keep their minds occupied, especially with projects and positive ideas for the future, they can, to some extent, keep anxiety and negative feelings out of conscious awareness. Likewise, since their thinking is stimulated by activity, Sevens are compelled to stay on the go, moving from one experience to the next, searching for more stimulation. This is not to say that Sevens are 'spinning their wheels.' They generally enjoy being practical and getting things done."
This can be seen throughout the whole series. It is clear his impulsivity is also a way to cope with his feelings of lack of autonomy in his life's ordeals - he can't help his mother, he is subdued by his family members, he is isolated in a small town with no money or connections to follow his dreams - this leads him to make mistakes and overexert himself (seen in all of the Sick Day arc and the beginning of Beach Boys). He copes with this (and also masks this anxiety) by focusing on his enjoyment and keeping an upbeat persona.
I will write more later of his enneagram wing (im not sure yet of it, but i think it might be 8, he is not the most security driven person, and his tritype is still incognito to me)
i dont know nor care if mbti is pseudoscience or not it is fun to read and write about lmao
also buddy is intj for sure

A Modern Retelling of Viktor
Author’s Note: This style of writing is not representative of my usual work. These are my notes for what I imagine is a modern portrayal of Viktor. In addition, it serves as an outline for future stories I may write that are set in this au. Below, you will find my thoughts and headcanons on the subject.
Expected Content: There are no sexual imagery depicted in this work. However, there are themes of obsession, unhealthy working habits, stalking, and quite possibly, a hint of yandere Viktor.
Pairing: There are multiple relationships mentioned/implied in this work. I will certainly explore my options, perhaps even create poly pairings. However, the main course includes: Viktor x reader, Jayce x Viktor, and Jayce x Mel.
———
Viktor Petrov

— AN OVERVIEW
When he received a scholarship and admittance to the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Viktor traveled to the United States on a student visa. He is currently majoring in Engineering and Applied Science, with a minor in aerospace engineering.
Originally from the Czech Republic, Viktor is fluent in three languages: Czech, English, and Russian. He had never traveled outside Europe before, so his first months in the States were filled with homesickness. Luckily, there was a place a little ways away from campus that serves decent bramboráky and trdelník. It’s a bit overpriced, but it helped ease his heart when he missed home.
Everyone who knows Viktor swears he is a genius. One look at his GPA and any Asian mother would weep and wish her kid was like him (totally not based on personal experience).
Once he finishes his education at Caltech, Viktor will most likely look for a job at NASA. He aspires to specialize in robotics and work with other complicated machinery—especially if it is space-related.
Viktor lives a few miles away from campus. Jayce Talis, his charismatic roommate, is also a student at the university. He has the same major and classes as Viktor, so they are often together on and off campus.
— PERSONALITY
Viktor is an introvert, but he is not unfriendly. He will engage in class and interact with the other students, but he chooses to keep friendships minimal. It is his choice to be alone, not his lack of socialization. Well, at least that’s what he tells himself to sleep easier at night.
Naturally, Viktor has a rational and objective mind. When he speaks, it is very articulated and blunt, never withholding an ounce of sarcasm when allowed. Oftentimes, people view him as an insensitive or callous man—though it’s mainly because he keeps his emotions checked.
He has a strong work ethic. Viktor is the kind of student to work on a project five months earlier. Almost always, the man is seen in the library studying until midnight, replaying his recordings from the latest lecture to add to his notes.
Speaking of notes, Viktor is a stickler for notes. Even with his unreadable handwriting, it remains meticulous and detailed. He even draws diagrams! Because of this, many of his classmates would borrow his notes—only to learn that they could barely make out a word, let alone a phrase.
When Viktor feels especially sociable, he loves to engage others in spirited debates. He loves a good challenge, specifically if it tests his intellect and reasoning. Whatever the topic is—from scientific to philosophical—Viktor always has a stance. He has an aura of subtle confidence, self-assured in his ways but not to the point of egotism.
In simpler terms, Viktor has Type A tendencies with a 5w4 on the enneagram and an INTJ on the Myers-Briggs
— FLAWS
It is difficult for him to maintain a relationship—platonic or romantic. Oftentimes, Viktor believes it is implausible for someone to like him as a person. He has experienced rejection plenty of times before, so he feels it necessary to end a relationship before it blossoms, fearing that the other person already hates him or is only with him for undisclosed intentions. Although Viktor hates irrationality, he still has irrational fears based from past experiences.
If there is one flaw he is often in conflict with, it’s his discipline. He may be a genius, but Viktor still has trouble setting his limitations. It is an obsessive need that overtakes him—an inkling he cannot exactly ignore. If he feels compelled to work later into the night, he will. If he feels he needs ten shots of espresso, he will buy and drink it. If he feels he has a crush on a certain student, he most likely would… stalk them.
Oftentimes, if left unchecked, his ambitions would blind him. Due to his obsessive tendencies, Viktor would pour all his attention into work and research, neglecting his state of being. If he ever took a break, it was most likely because he was starving, parched, or needed to use the bathroom. Still, it could take days, even weeks, before he returns to sanity and society.
— RELATIONSHIPS
JAYCE TALIS: If they weren’t roommates, Viktor would have never befriended him. Everyone on campus knows Jayce—he is a literal social butterfly—always liked by most students and teachers. Still, Jayce remains a constant in his life. They have partnered on several projects and received stellar reviews. It is obvious that the two of them are great friends. Viktor would never admit it, but Jayce is one of the few people in his life that he actually likes and trusts.
PROFESSOR HEIMERDINGER: Even if the professor won’t say it, everyone knows that Viktor is his favorite. He goes out of his way to support him, always wanting to know what wonderful contraption he has built as of late.
MEL MEDARDA: Initially, only acquaintances, Viktor and Mel later became friends due to their relationship with Jayce. After hours, Mel would drop by the apartment and hang out with Jayce while also displaying an interest in Viktor and his studies. Their relationship is more akin to a sibling relationship, like an older sister and a kid brother.
READER: Another student in Caltech who takes the same classes as him. Within a matter of days, Viktor became infatuated with you. Every time you entered the lecture hall, you could see the man stiffen in his seat—blankly staring at you then embarrassingly looking away. It was sweet, knowing that you had caught his attention. Not many of your classmates could say the same thing. Viktor was quiet during class, only speaking unless spoken to or if he was keen on answering a question. Yet, it came as a surprise to you when you received a single rose on your doorstep—you never told anyone about your address.
— INTERESTS
Even as a kid, Viktor loved Star Trek. He dreamt about the plausibility of interstellar travel and the intricacies of warp drive. He spent nights imagining himself working in the engineering deck and tinkering with transporters. Almost single-handedly, the franchise inspired him to become an engineer—to work with the complexities of science and invent something anew. If he had to pick a character as his favorite, Viktor would select—without a doubt—Lieutenant Commander Data. His ongoing arc of seeking human connection in spite of his inability to understand human emotion—was what endeared Viktor. In many ways, he had the same troubles as the android. People viewed him differently because of his disability and brilliance. Like Data, their uniqueness was both a gift and a curse.
If he has no plans for the weekend, Viktor would spend his day playing chess against himself or Jayce. Naturally, they would take turns being white, often forgoing the use of a timer—unless they were feeling competitive that day—and play a few games while talking about life. If Viktor was playing white, he often opens with a pawn on e4 and then implements the first moves of the Spanish Opening (knight on f3 and bishop on b5). If Viktor was playing black, he would use the Tarrasch Variation of the French Defense, with 1. e4 e6, 2. d4 d5, 3. Nd2 c5. Although it is not exactly aggressive, Viktor focuses more on positional play.
(I am not a chess player, but I watched a few videos from GothamChess and live feeds from Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura for research)
His taste in music varies on his mood. However, Viktor favors the classical and contemporary genres the most. He is especially fond of composers such as Tchaikovsky and Chopin, and jazz musicians such as Stan Getz and David Benoit. He does experiment with other genres, but faithfully, he returns to his favorites after a long day in the laboratory.

STOP FOLLOWING SUPERFICIAL CLASSIFICATIONS OF ENNEATYPES AND THEIR INSTINCTS
I'll start these with the Sexual Six since it's my type and, in my opinion, one of the worst examples of this.
Every Enneagram type is defined by a core passion that stems from their Triad Center's primary shared problem. The E6 is in the Head Triad, thus, like all Head Triad types, is characterized by anxiety. Sevens escape the anxiety outwards, Fives lean into it inwards, and Sixes are caught up in the middle. The passion of Fear is what rules over them the most, nothing feels certain to them and is subject to questioning in order to make it be more certain, and incur in less fear. It's funny how everyone considers Fives to be the resident academics and researchers of the Enneagram when Sixes can very well be their close partners in crime. Sixes are a mental, logical type.
In the same way, every instinct is characterized by focusing the personality on seeking one of three spheres of our lives. The Self-Preservation (SP) instinct seeks conservation of their personal sphere, the Social (SO) seeks adaptation of that sphere to external demands, and the Sexual (SX) seeks relations in that sphere.
So! What do we get when we apply the passion of Fear to the sphere of relations?
Well, according to some, it just means Sixes become these aggressive types, using intimidation and status symbols as a way of seeking security, basically making everyone else afraid of them so they themselves can feel like the fear isn't there. Okay. Where does this even come from??
This common understanding of the SX6, going as far as to getting the nicknames of "Strength/Beauty" and "Intimidation", is completely ridiculous. They miss the fundamental reason as to why people with these fixations would behave like this in favor of focusing on superficial characteristics that show up in some examples and do nothing but alienate people who would benefit so much from seeing themselves in what this type is really about! Think about that portrayal once more. Doesn't it sound much more focused in the security of the self?
That's not inherent to Sixes as many believe, that's just the sp insinct, conservation of the self, making sure the self is safe. Sixes are about Fear and constant surveyance in the service of certainty and safety, yes, but it gets applied to different spheres, not just to the self. This is why SP6 get portrayed as these meek little dudes who just don't want any trouble, when you're already applying the SP instinct to every portrayal of type 6, how are you supposed to differentiate the actual SP variant?
Fear, when seeking relations, makes us scared of not having relations. Or the relations that we want, or in the way that we want them. Doesn't matter, the point is that the focus is on relations, on others, on emotions, not the self and personal safety. The SX6 craves the intensity, romanticism and devotion that any other sx type would. Their fear of not being someone who could live up to the standards of others so they would want to have that with them is what rules over them. That is the primary focus.
What does an actual SX6 do then? Like all Sixes, they try and live by certain applied sets of rules, while simultaneously pushing back against them. This push-pull relationship with authority entities (unspoken rules like social conventions can still be an authority, even if more subtle) is what encapsulates the E6 experience. This gets applied to questions of "how must I be (compliant/dutiful Hornevian Triad) in order to be someone others want?". It's here that we arrive at the actual focus:
The SX6 is about Desirability
And not in a deceitful way, like Threes or Twos could possibly fall into. Sixes genuinely want to embody what characteristics and ways of life they see others deem desirable and worthy of admiration. This is how we get the current SX6 stereotypes: fitness influencers, jock bullies and the like. And those people could very well be behaving under SX6 motivations! Just not because strength and intimidation is the point, but desirability. It's not the need for being intimidating or strong that needs to be let go of.
What SX6 needs to let go of, in order to grow, is the need to abide by what they are so sure they have to follow in order to be desirable to others. Only then will they actually allow themselves to bloom on nothing but their own terms and actually be someone who attracts people to their side with their strength of character and courage. At their best, they might even have somewhat of a chivalrous air about them.
SO NO, NATE JACOBS IS NOT AN SX6, STOP LUMPING US IN WITH THE LIKES OF HIM
Thanks for coming to my ted talk, I will be dumping more about the Enneagram on here in the future byeeeeee
