the reverse parallels between katniss and haymitch is so interesting to me. katniss was set up for success as much ad she could be with an excellent stylist, a competent mentor, and an escort that at least cared enough to try to win her sponsors, without even including the fact that she’s a fantastic archer. despite that, she barely manages to make it through the interview without cursing out the audience. haymitch had an atrocious stylist, will probably end up with a mentor that wants him dead, has a horrible escort, and most of all not much special talent. yet he still manages to prop himself up to the capitol audience, as shown in his interview . . . this just feels like a whole other layer in haymitch’s initial annoyance with katniss to me. she had all the opportunities he never did and she sort of just spits in the face of them
