They're really good. And you might have to read them for lit classes eventually.
i searched up the synopses and they sound really cool! i generally gravitate heavily toward sci-fi and fantasy stuff, but i'll add this to the tbc anyway. they seem like really interesting concepts

cis people be like. i would rather my loved one die than transition and be happy because it would be easier on me, the most important person in this situation, the cis person

are you getting book recs...
Ready Player One is a really good sci-fi dystopian novel! It references a lot of nineties culture, but it's still fine if you know nothing about the nineties (like me, I was still unborn then) because then it's cool learning about it!
This cover is especially good. My real book has a more ugly cover. Uh, the sequel is really bad (imo) and the movie adaptation is fine
i've heard of this one. i'll add it to the tbc but i don't know if i'll get to it soon or not lmfao

someone: don’t u think it’s disturbing how in the past few years the level of femininity women are expected to perform and the industries they’re expected to contribute to in order to be taken seriously, especially on platforms like social media, has skyrocketed to the point that perfect makeup, contouring, acrylic nails, and eyelash extensions have become almost a social expectation and when women express no interest in adhering to those standards they’re met with vitriol and scorn straight woman who thinks Legally Blonde is the apex of feminist media: okay but it’s my choice? if i want to be feminine i should have the right to choose to do that because feminism is about choice

suzanne collins is such a genius... the cultural phenomenon of her series leading to the hanging tree house remixes, mockingjay being milked for two (bad) movies, the capitol-inspired makeup palettes, the halloween costumes, the explosion of the market for dystopia, the butchering of her characters and removal of disabilities, disfiguration, and racial tension + representation to sell more tickets, the extra gale scenes to fuel discourse, and the audience showing up to cinemas to watch what was pretty honestly marketed to them (the jacob vs edwardification of the symbolic love story and also to watch children fight to the death) it's just so ridiculously ironic i would say you can't write this shit, but she did write about it... in The Hunger Games published 2008

District 12 being one of the poorest, underfed Districts showing how ripe a revolution really was and they were also coal miners and associated the most with music and singing and mockingjays and songbirds they were literally the canary in a coal mine

like gale's character is such a fascinating lens to view the entire revolution through. the capitol hates you. the capitol wants you dead. you put your name in for reaping fifty times so your siblings only have to put their name in once for the extra ratios. you sneak out with your best friend to hunt.
you hate the capitol, but life is fine enough. you put your name in another twenty times so your best friend's family can eat. you take care of her little sister. you think you love her. you don't know that for sure. is it just convenience? who knows. but you care for her little sister and she cares for your siblings. between the two of you, you're both up for slaughter thousands of times of over.
you're so lucky. you're so so lucky. you're turning eighteen. your best friend turns eighteen next year. you're almost free. her little sister gets reaped. a one in a million chance - she was only in there ONCE. it's a no brainer your best friend volunteers to save her sister. you understand - you would too if you could volunteer in her place. you hate the capitol and wish to see it fall in your life time. your friend is gone and you have one task: keep her sister safe.
she comes back alive. so does the person she left with. they have a bond you cannot hope to understand - and you accept that. you swallow your pride, put your cards on the table, and leave it. you know you have no chance. you take care of her family anyway. you think it's fine now, it can't get worse. then the capitol sends you bug infested food. then they prevent you from hunting. the leash is tightened, and you hate the capitol. you can't even offer yourself up for reaping anymore, and your siblings are in danger. the water is rushing in, and you're drowning, and you're angry.
the capitol has earmarked you for destruction, all because your best friend lived and was clever enough to bring the other tribute home. when the quarter quell comes, they take your best friend for the second time. the bombs come. and you have one task: keep her sister safe. the only way to guarantee that is to fight back. so you take up arms, and you fight.
she comes back. he does not. you do not celebrate, because she is in pain. but at least you can show her that her sister is safe. you're twisted up in guilt because there's nothing you can do for her. all you can do is fight, and hope it'll save everyone.
then the one person you were tasked to keep safe dies. and you don't know what happened. all you know is that the sum of the war meant no one was safe. so you do the only thing you can do for her sanity after the war: you leave. you leave, because you don't like who you've become anymore than she does. war and revolution has ruined you, changed you, warped you.
and worst part is: it didn't keep anyone safe, least of all you.

Okay but for a corporately mandated love triangle (Gale was meant to be Katniss’ cousin, publisher asked to make him the childhood friend with a crush), Hunger Games absolutely nails it. It can’t just be solved by polyamory because it represents her choosing between two aspects of herself. Yes Gale sometimes acts like a dumb teenager because he is, but not to an obnoxious level. The one and only time Peeta and Gale get a conversation about it, both of them fully acknowledge that it’s Katniss’ choice so fighting over her is pointless. It’s not a marketing gimmick to generate unnecessary tension, it’s a complicated relationship that informs all three of their characters and is deeply intertwined with the series’ themes of war and trauma.
