itâs been like. forever since I stopped keeping up with marvel content, mostly bc I really liked captain america and hated his ending all the wayâ didnât like Tonyâs either but at least it made sense. back then, loki was one of my fav characters and I never got around watching it bc I was afraid disney would fuck up, and you know what? thankfully I didnât, because I want FAMILY and PARTNERSHIP and if youâre not gonna give me romance, at least let the guy have moral support.
#Iâd be pissed#it seems like it was poetic but no#I really liked Loki I wouldnât want him trapped to eternity#and I STILL canât believe they killed him in avengers#that was such an awful death#endgame had so many weird plots#loki#lokius

milevens are insane
warning now - i get extremely heated in this so if you're going to tell me to calm down leave. before any of you weird bitches tell me to go do something more productive or to touch grass- no. i'm fifteen, it's summer, and i'm a highly involved high school student. i'm not here because i have nothing better to do, i'm here because i understand good writing and am able to have hobbies â¤ď¸
anyways
was on the mileven endgame hashtag just now and because i don't choose violence i wont be addressing any of them directly, but i will be addressing some of the ridiculous bullshit on there. term bullshit used intentionally
the love confession came as a result of mike "gaining the confidence" to tell el how much he loves her because he was afraid that he loved her more than she loved him.
are you listening to the words that are coming out of your mouth right now? i want to sit down and get a coffee with you and dissect what the fuck you meant by that. sure, right, yeah, he gained so much PRODUCTIVE confidence from his conversation he had with will where will was using eleven to mask his own feelings for mike. it makes so much sense narratively that this end all be all mileven event is sparked from will's feelings and not mikes! sure! right! this is such an idiotic piece of reasoning. you are literally saying that you are okay with your endgame ship only being endgame based on faulty communication and lies. are you joking? "you just gotta improve your motivation" ass piece of evidence
also, mike being insecure about loving her more than she loves him is complete, total, utter bullshit. el frequently expresses her love to mike via letters and youre here to say that mike would have any problem with doing the same thing if he were insecure about her love for him? that literally makes no sense. i wouldn't be afraid of loving somebody more than they love me if they are actively putting more effort into insuring me that they love me than i am to them. like, what does that even mean?
âWill Byers is a pathetic loser annoying character and contributed little to the plot of ST. "
yes that is a direct quote. no i'm not kidding.
what kind of fucking neanderthal watches stranger fucking things- a show about a kid who disappears- and thinks the kid who disappears isn't a central part of the narrative? the first episode of the goddamn show is called "the vanishing of will byers"! maybe this is hard for you and your confused brain to get your head around, but el and mike met when mike was out looking FOR WILL. mike and el are still together because mike gained courage from WILL'S LOVE FOR HIM. what a fucking idiot you must be. i would try to explain to you the myriad of other reasons why will is absolutely central to the plot of the show, but since the show itself has clearly gone in one ear and out the other, i probably wont be able to get through to you either.
âwhat if we learned to cope with world that doesnât accept us as individuals by embracing each other completely?â said about mileven
um.. what. that's literally byler. closeted gay guys in the 80s. but sure, the ones that aren't being accepted are the two white and allegedly heterosexual individuals. the "world that doesn't accept us" in question is a few high school bullies in comparison with the stigmatization, violence, and ostracization that has longstanding been a part of what it means to be queer. be so serious right now. mileven is not important for being non conformist, the GAY SHIP IN THE 80S IS!!
âThe only people who queerbaited, was byler fans themselves lmao.â
even if we're ignoring the horrible grammar there are still SO many things wrong with everything that was just said. what they're saying above for anybody who can't decipher the weird medieval english code this person is using is that bylers actively queerbaited themselves which inherently makes no sense at all.
below i have included the oxford dictionary definition of queerbaiting: "the incorporation of apparently gay characters or same-sex relationships into a film, television show, etc. as a means of appealing to gay and bisexual audiences while maintaining ambiguity about the characters' sexuality."
how is it possible that byler shippers themselves are the ones doing the queerbaiting? are we running the show? nope! before you come on and post something as offensive as this- which i will get into- at least make sure you know what you're saying. xoxo
to insinuate for even a second that mike wheeler not being gay would be anything other than deliberate queerbaiting is insane. there is something wrong with you. aside from the parts of the show where his queerness is deliberately alluded to like music, costuming, analogies, allegories, and set design, netflix has been, weather you like it or not, actively marketing in favor of byler and mike not being straight. all below come from official netflix accounts-
how is this not queerbaiting? genuinely what are you on about. this is literally textbook.
âwill is fruity but mike didn't like the fruit on his pizzaâ
you seriously are basing your argument about mike not being gay on him not liking fruit on pizza? you seriously think that some of the most commended and celebrated writers of the last decade would use symbolism involving a word that can literally be interpreted as a slur when their show has two characters who are canonically a part of the group affected said slur? are you fucking stupid? that was harmless banter used to communicate the differences in habitual action across the country. it wasn't the duffers trying to do for you what they do for us in deliberate, straightforward NON-OFFENSIVE symbolism.
i saw somebody claim that mike's character arc in season four was inherently about not believing in his self worth nor in his competency to be in a relationship with el
while i do for the most part agree with you, i'm going to ask you a question- mike was never anxious about his identity and self worth involving el before season four. why do you think that just came up now if not for the fact that he's been having insecurities involving his sexuality and romantic attraction to women as a whole? in my opinion, mike realized that he might not like girls in that way circa the end of season three- a realization that only festered and grew through the absence of not only the boy he loves that is causing this insecurity but the girl whom he is using as a way to say hey, i can't be gay, i have a girlfriend! mike was clearly going through some serious emotional struggles as we can immediately see in this scene with how suddenly awkward he is with will and the immediate emphasis that's put on the "from mike" on the flowers.
i agree that his season four and part of his season five arc are about his feelings of insecurity about being in a relationship with el, however, i don't think he's insecure because he thinks she's better than him in the sense that she's some superhero, i think he thinks she's better than him because he knows that he'll never be able to love her the way she deserves to be loved. he's not going to outright come and say to will that he doesn't think that he can love her in the way she deserves to be loved. he's closeted. what he says in the van scene is the only way he knows to express his feelings. it's very similar to what will does in the same scene. it makes no sense for this insecurity to randomly manifest in him if it wasn't for an external factor that doesn't involve el, because nothing has really changed with the dynamic of their relationship other than the move. one could argue that mike is feeling insecure over el's supposed popularity she claims to have in her letters, but mike's arc has never been about caring about popularity in school. that's not something on his mind so much as the grand scheme of the world is. lets not forget that he joins hellfire in season four.
âWhen Mike didnât say âI love youâ, By*ers twisted it to their narrative. When Mike did say âI love youâ, By*ers twisted it to their narrative.â
you literally sound like trump going on about the democrats. listen to what your saying right now. also, it's a ship name. there's no need to censor it you fucking weirdo.
wasted time building up mileven
i'm sorry, what build up? i'm confused. there's no "build up". THIS is build up:
above is will, possessed by a monster who feeds off of those lacking love in their lives, only being able to be broken out of possession by a heartfelt monologue by the PERSON HE LOVES detailing how the best decision he ever made was to befriend him.
above is will claiming he will never fall in love, then his love for one of the other main characters becomes a central plot point of the two seasons to come. joyce and i see through will and all of you weird milevens
mike telling will how it's not his fault will doesn't like girls only after he loses the person he's been using to cover up his own insecurity about the same thing- not liking girls. suspicious.
will's LOVE FOR MIKE being the thing to give him the confidence to help el SAVE THE WORLD, only episodes after we establish that mike is bound to be pissed that he was lied to. and theres no buildup? THERE'S REALLY NO BUILDUP?
if you don't see buildup i fear you are literally just a lost cause because it is so painfully obvious to anybody who made it past seventh grade english class that there is something deeper and more intimate than friendship going on between will byers and mike wheeler.
âWomen can be independent while being in a relationship guysđ!!â
OBVIOUSLY! i am literally the biggest feminist on the entire western seaboard. i couldn't agree more with this, which is why we have arcs like nancy's where she actively becomes more independent while still maintaining a relationship with jonathan. the difference is that mike and el have been together since they were like thirteen. when el was immersed into the real world for the first time in season two she immediately leaned on mike for support in that. it's not that she can only be independent on her own, it's that mike is directly symbolic to her of a time when she was stumbling around the world with naivete and not quite knowing how to navigate that. by spreading her wings away from that relationship, it will not only give her independence, but also a way to see beyond the barriers of hawkins and a life where she was valued mostly for the qualities she brings to the supernatural equation. el's arc is one of my favorites. i would never claim such a thing and discredit the essence of what makes the emotions behind her character so interesting. she's somebody who was literally raised in a lab. she shouldn't be held back by somebody she is quite literally dependent on.
last but not least, i saw a post that said milevens always win.
"are you sure about that?" i ask, noah schnapp's most recent instagram post open on my phone, finn wolfhard's spotify playlist in my headphones, my mike holding will's painting funko on the desk in front of me, wearing a yellow shirt with a blue sweater over it.
thank u for listening to my ted talk đđ

Chapter Four - The Meeting
Content Warning: none, but let me know if I missed any!
Husk said he didnât think you liked surprises and boy was he right.Â
Charlie screamed the second you entered the kitchen, thrusting a present box into your arms. You were pissed, having not slept, tossing and turning in the silence of the night.Â
You really needed to find a radio - itâs music had lulled you to sleep in the past - but now you were hesitant. The radio was Alastorâs domain, and you didnât know what kind of power the device would have now that he was back in Hell.Â
Itâs the same reason why you never got a cell phone - you didnât want Vox tracking your whereabouts or having access to your video camera. It would be a lot easier to figure out who you were if you did.Â
You used the new collection of syrups and powders to make real creations for the staff to enjoy. You had to admit, it was fun, and finally gave you a chance to make a jasmine latte to your liking - something you hadnât had since your early days working at the cafe.Â
Alastor was nowhere to be found. So he didnât see the tension in your body as you ate breakfast. He didnât see you slip out after Angel and Husk got into it over the news of the Porn Starâs employer - now officially revealed to be Valentino. He didnât see you tiptoe to your room, lock the door, pull your leather armor and cloak from the Void and clean them before todayâs meeting.Â
You checked for his shadow of course, to see if he was watching, but for whatever reason, the darkness was still.Â
Doning your black garb, you double checked the silver stitching around the hood of your cloak, ensuring the magic seal was still intact. A few loose strands caught your attention but nothing serious enough to disrupt the enchantment.Â
Okay. You were going out. In broad daylight. To attend a meeting with the most powerful Overlords in Hell.Â
What could go wrong?Â
____________________________________________
âOpe! Ope! Ope! Ope!âÂ
You landed on the sidewalk in a pile of⌠eggs?Â
They stopped their incessant noise making before turning to you, confused but intrigued by the smoke pooling at your feet.Â
âAre you on fire?âÂ
âWhy canât we see your face?â
âYou smell like jasmine.âÂ
âCan I touch your cloak?âÂ
Sir Pentiousâ eggs. What were they doing here?Â
You took the elevator to the penthouse - which was really weird. Normally youâd just fly to the top and take the terrace entrance in, but Carmilla Carmine was hosting and she had earned your respect. Not simply because she had invited you, but for the many things before.Â
â...Iâm sure youâve all been wondering!â Alastorâs voice hits you at the same time as the static finds your skin.Â
Fuck.
âNot really, but welcome back in any case.â You tried hard to hold back your snort as you rounded the corner, appearing at the entrance of the conference room.Â
âAh, youâve made it,â Carmine gestures to you.Â
All eyes flit to you, cementing you to the tile floor where you stood. You did your best to keep your eyes locked with Carmillaâs not wanting to send the wrong message with a wondering gaze. You werenât here to challenge anyone, certainly not on your first day, you were here as a guest of Carmillaâs and to stake a claim to the seat which has been offered.Â
They room falls silent before Zestial finally speaks up. âTis this the infamous Shadow thou spoke of, Carmilla?âÂ
You bow your head to the Overlord - and you mean âTheâ Overlord for he was the first. You had never met him in person before, but youâve heard of him.Â
God, he was even more glorious in person. You could taste the power wafting off him from where you stood.Â
âWhat the heck! What is he doing here?â Zeeze began to protest.Â
The colors of her fur were wild enough to make you sick.Â
âI invited him,â Carmilla answered dismissively as if it was obvious. Zeezee and a few of the other Overlords protested save for Rosie and Alastor. You didnât dare turn to them, however, you couldnât risk anyone in this room catching any hint of your relationship with the Queen of the Cannibals nor could you risk Alastor suspecting any familiarity.Â
Fucking Alastor. You blocked out his gaze the most from your mind. Â
âThe Shadow has risen to power faster second to none other than Alastor himself.â She gestures to the Radio Demon whose eyes havenât left your form. âHe now holds enough souls to rival even your own count, Zeezee. Heâs earned a spot at this table.âÂ
Ha. Fuck you.Â
âThis is the ShadowâŚâ Rosie chimes in. âHa! I thought heâd be taller.â She laughs from Alastorâs side.Â
âWell then!â The Radio Demonâs smile reappeared, catching you off guard. Itâs a really good thing they couldnât see your hands shaking beneath the cloak. âPlease, do take a seat!â He motioned with his microphone to a chair at the end of the table. A shadowed hand wrapped around the leg and pulled it out, inviting you to sit. Once the others saw Rosie and Alastor cave, they felt a bit more relaxed - not enough to drop their guard, however. Â
Rosieâs eyes caught yours at the other end of the table. She gave you an imperceptibly small smile, fleeting so as not to attract too much attention.Â
At least you had one ally in this room.Â
âThis year's Extermination was brutal, far more even than years past. We have assessed that about 16% of the population was lost,â a slide projector turns on behind her. âWith the angelic legions now returning twice as quickly, I think it prudent weâŚâ The door slams inwards, a loud-mouthed Velvette barging into the meeting.Â
God, it was good that you needed to keep yourself composed here, otherwise youâd rip her head off and burn it to ashes. Every interaction you had with her just pushed the line more and more.Â
She hangs up the phone, turning to grab the back of your chair and⌠âWhat in the Hell is this!?â Velvette motions to you sitting in the chair. âWhat is this piece of trash doing, sitting in my seat!?â
Smoke began pooling at your feet, angrily twisting about itself in waves.Â
âNice of you to join us, Velvette. Will your⌠colleagues be joining us?â Carmilla ignored her.Â
âWhat? No, they have better shit to do than to listen to an old windbag who thinks she's tough shit. I'm here to represent or I would be if this wanker would get out of my seat.âÂ
You didnât move an inch. Moving would be yielding power to Velvette and you couldnât let that happen.Â
âVelvette, let me introduce you to the Shadow,â Carmilla motioned to you.Â
Her red sclera flit between you and the weapons-dealing Overlord. âAre you fucking kidding me? What kind of name is âShadowâ anyway?â She snorted. âThis is so going on my Sinstagram. I canât⌠Oh!â The purple phone explodes in her hand.Â
You didnât do thatâŚÂ
Alastor laughs from his chair, âOh my, what a mess youâve made.â Her phone lay in a heap on the ground, electrical sparks flying every which way.Â
Her tan skin turned a beat red, âListen here you cock-suckingâŚâ Her hand phases through your cloak as she attempts to grab you. She stands stunned, staring at her hand as if she couldnât believe it herself.Â
It was a cheap trick, but oh-so satisfying when it happened. No one could take the cloak off of you. Not unless you were dead or they knew who you were.Â
You loved old magic.Â
Velvette stood shell-shocked and speechless.Â
No one stood up for you. No one intervened. They were all just as curious to see what you would do next.Â
With a snap of your fingers, you pulled a chair from the Void, surrounding the materialization process with blue flame - just for flare. It was a dingy chair, metal and worn - nothing compared to the grand plush ones set aside for the other guests. That, however, was intentional. Summoning the chair wasnât giving in to her tantrum, it was an insult in and of itself.
âThank you, Shadow,â Carmilla nodded to you. âSo, as I was saying, we need to discussâŚâ
Velvette uses the chair as a stepping stool, shooting daggers with her eyes at your face. She steps before you, her feet on the table, blocking your view of the room.Â
Bitch.Â
âOn the subject of discussionâŚâ She throws the severed head of an Exorcist across the table.
Oh, here we go! A dead Exorcist - if that didnât speed up your plans you didnât know what would!Â
You watched as Velvette launched herself into a - obviously rehearsed - speech regarding an assault plan on Heaven.Â
Ha! Vox and Valentino sure had big balls if they think they can take the fight to them. On the other hand, you would love to see that happen. Theyâd be squished before they even made it to the gates, turned into a pile of recycled electronics and whatever the fuck moths had - feathers?Â
Youâd find some way to take Velvette down personally. Take her out in the chaos with an angelic blade and blame it on the Exorcists of Heaven. You wouldnât have the credit for the kill of course but did you really need that to begin with?Â
The only reason you were sitting here, showing the world a face, assigning a name to your killings was because of Rosie. She was the one to convince you to take hold of the power you so rightfully earned when you were adamant about staying in the shadows.Â
You couldnât lie to yourself, though; the power you had in sitting here, seeing Velvetteâs face turn red, was worth it.Â
âWe know not how this perished. Mayhaps t'was not by a demon's hand at all. If we rush to war without knowing mightn't, they purge all of Hell for daring an uprising?â Zestial chimed in.Â
You chuckled deep and low, earning a glare from Alastor.Â
âOh, I get it. So Grandpa is too pussy to fight, so I guess there's no point, right?â She jumps into the Overlordâs face. âOh, what's the matter, Fossil? Too senile to make a real power grab forâŚâ
âYou better show some respect!â Carmilla interrupts Velvette.Â
Ugh, Sinners were always so dramatic. This was like dealing with the Crimson Mafia but worse - they didnât have some Gen Z spoiled brat to deal with.Â
You took advantage of the distraction, using the time to study each of the Overlordâs without them knowing. Zeezee was a big⌠uh⌠Hell hound? Which didnât make any sense since Hell hounds were Native born, but that was a mystery for a different day.Â
The Von Eldritch representative was absent, but youâd never interacted with him before either. The unnamed Overlord sat to Zeeziâs right, silent and emotionless. Carmilla and her daughters you had already known for years. Zestial was⌠God, he was a dream.Â
The Overlord dripped with power. You wondered, just out of curiosity and not actuality, what he would be like to fight. He seemed so elegant and refined, sitting there sipping his tea. Is his fighting style much of the same? Would he seduce you with his lethality? You had heard that lesser demons flee just upon the sight of him. What has he done to earn such respect? You wanted to know, you wanted toâŚ
Static crawled its way up your spine, freezing your muscles and silencing your thoughts. You felt the air shift beneath your smoke - no, the shadows shift beneath your smoke. They were cold, like how a summer dayâs temperature drops in the shade. You could feel them as they shifted beneath you, slithering against your robes.
Alastor.Â
You looked up to find the Overlord peering down at you, both hands crossed, his chin resting in his palms. His eyes were half-lidded as they raked over your cloaked form, like he was analyzing you, like he could see straight through the smoke and shadows to you underneath. It made you feel vulnerable. It made you feel weak.Â
You met his gaze, not letting his intimidation show. You sensed curiosity from the Overlord. Sniffing, you tried again to smell his emotion, but the room was filled with the iritation wafting off of Velvette and Carmilla - cinnamon. Ugh, you hated cinnamon.Â
Your eyes narrowed at the red demon, hoping he moves his gaze, but when he doesnât relent you decide to repay his stare with a wandering set of eyes of your own.Â
He was lean, yet built - his broad chest forming an upside down triangle disappearing into a slim waist line. Donning one of his well-pressed suits and matching slacks. His sense of style was impeccable you had to give him that - but of course, Rosie dressed him and you loved everything she made. Even if she forced you into a dress. He wore gloves - he always wore gloves - but his hands thoughâŚ
Images of his claws scraping across your cheek and down your skin come flooding back. A shiver runs through your core at the memory of his touch on your neck, the way he licked his lips at the sight of the blood pumping through your veins. Alastor turned ravenous at the thought of tasting you. Fucking cannibals.Â
But the way you moaned? God, how embarrassing. You had never made a sound like that in your life. Where had it come from? Why had it happened?Â
And why did you like it?
Why did you want him to squeeze harder, to drag your lips to hisâŚ
Stop!Â
Your face heated at the thought. Alarmed, you pulled your gaze back into your lap, earning a small chuckle from the Radio Demon.Â
Where the fuck did that come from!? Get your shit together! Youâre supposed to be a badass Overlord in a very important meeting right now. There was no space for thoughts of Alastor and⌠NO. NOPE. NOT GOING THERE. Â
Of course such a devious man would be so enticing! Itâs probably how he claimed his victims up top. Get them to like him and smile at them. Maybe he flirted and twirled their hair, before taking their hand and luring them into the dark forest with promises of⌠NO! STOP IT!
Jesus Christ, it was a really good thing no one could see your face right now.Â
Velvette suddenly appeared, her nose mere inches from yours, âThis isnât fucking over!â She jumped to the ground, kicking the chair you pulled from the Void into the wall. âSafe travels back to the nursing home, fuckers! Kiss my ass!â She flipped you all off on her way out.Â
It was silent for a beat before Alastor chimed, âThat was a productive meeting!âÂ
What part of that was productive?Â
The Overlords all got up from their chairs and headed for the exit, you follow suit, a little saddened at the fact that this meeting went nowhere. You had such high hopes the moment Velvette pulled out the severed head. Ugh, guess you were going to have to continue with Plan A.Â
âShadow,â Carmilla called. Her and her daughters hadnât yet moved from their spots. âMay I call on you later?â Zestial stood next to her, finishing his tea.Â
You nodded beforeâŚ
âI donât believe weâve been properly introduced.â Alastor stepped into your path, his hand outstretched. âAlastor, pleasure to meet you.â
Your palm was far, far smaller in his grip than you had expected. If his hands were this big then did that mean hisâŚ
You stifle a cough, hoping he doesnât notice. âCharmed.â
His eyes narrow.Â
Oh, he noticed.Â
âMay I interest you in a drink? I see it impertinent to get to know someone such as yourself as we may be able to⌠benefit one another.â The edges of his smile curled. It made your stomach bubble with anxiety - not the same feelings as butterflies, you should point out.Â
Your eyes drifted back to the room, finding Rosie absent. You knew Alastor was going to pay an interest in the Shadow once he was made aware of your presence. You had risen to power just as fast as he had - how could he not pay attention to you? You just didnât expect it right off the bat.Â
âAlastor is a respectable man,â Carmilla jumps in. âHe can be trustedâ Her eyes weighed heavily on you. She was throwing you a bone, trying to tell you what to do in this situation.Â
Alastor respected only those who respected him. Insult him and he will show you no kindness -Â Vox being the prime example. You werenât prepared to take him on just yet, and if he ever found out who you really were, it would completely derail your plans. Besides, if you shut the door now, there was no telling if or when it was going to open again. Remember what you had decided last night at the bar: get to know the Radio Demon, throw him off the scent.Â
Pulling the obsidian calling card from your breast pocket, you held it out to him. âA drop of scarlet beneath nightâs mistress.âÂ
A drop of scarlet: blood. The nightâs mistress: darkness. Anyone in possession of an obsidian calling card merely had to drip a single drop of their blood atop the card. That drop of blood was the tie in you needed to begin a deal with whomever summoned you.Â
Only certain people carried those cards, those who you had bestowed the gift upon. Only once had a card fallen into the wrong hands - and ONLY once. You would never let that happen again. Which was why, from here on out, you needed to be picky with whom you entrusted these to. You didnât know if you could trust the Radio Demon, but again you couldnât let this door close.Â
âOh! How ominous.â He slipped the card into his jacket pocket as you exited the conference room, doing your best to ignore the pinpoint glare on the back of your head and the demon who held it.Â
____________________________________________
SLAM! Velvette kicks the door open, stomping her way into Voxâs office. âThat cock-sucking bastard! Who the fuck does he think he is!?âÂ
Vox rolled his eyes, continuing to click away on the computer monitor, âNo, please Velvette come right in.âÂ
The brat demon slumped into a chair, her boots kicking up on the deskâs top. The female Vee reclined in the chair, a look of pure anger on her face. âHe sat in my seat. My seat! And insulted me right in front of the Overlords of Hell!âÂ
âUh-huh,â Vox feigned interest, continuing to click away.Â
âAnd the Old-ass Hag let him! They all just sat there and let him! Where was the fucking respect!?â The Vee jumped to her feet, a thumb jabbed into her chest. âIâm Velvette - the Velvette. Iâm a fucking Overlord! Heâs just a glorified bed sheet with an attitude!âÂ
âYeah,â Vox switched to a different browser - still not listening.
âHeâs dead.â Velvette declared, climbing onto the desk. âHeâs fucking dead the next time I see him.â
âThat sounds nice,â Vox mindlessly added.Â
âThat sounds nice? What⌠What the fuck are you doinâ?â The female Vee reached down and spun the monitor around.Â
A thousand tabs were open, each containing different social media page profiles, image searches, or links to various surveillance cameras around town.Â
Velvette shot the media demon a dumb look. âThis is why you had to skip the meeting!? Youâre still lookinâ for that girl, arenât you?âÂ
âWhat?â Vox pretended to look offended. âNo! Iâm not⌠I mean⌠Why would IâŚ?â His words trailed off at the sight of Velvetteâs irritated face. âMaybe.â
Velvette rolled her eyes. âGive me your phone,â she held out her hand.Â
âUse your own phone!â The media demon snapped.
Velvetteâs glare turned lethal. âYou do not want to mess with me today, princess. Give me the goddamn phone!âÂ
Vox knew better than to argue with the female Vee when she was in a mood.Â
Handing over the device, he watched as she clicked across various different media sites before she paused on one in particular. All in all she took about three minutes total of searching before she turned the device around.
And there you were. Hidden amongst a million photos of bugs and random blurry pictures of red ceilings and floors was you in Angelâs arms.Â
âHow the HellâŚâ Vox reached for his phone, staring dumbfounded at the photo.
Velvette smirked, a wicked gleam in her eye, âGuess where your mysterious Alley Girl is stayingâŚâÂ
Vox read the page name, his one eye blinking red with rage, âAlastorâŚâ

âThe Vees are going to be a problem,â Carmilla pondered, one hand wrapped around her chin.Â
âI agree,â you growled from your place atop the terrace. The night was colder than expected - perhaps an ominous omen of what was to come.Â
âWhat do you suggest, Mother?â Odette chimed from the chair. Her sister silent and still as always.Â
âI suggest we do nothing,â she shrugged, âbut wait and watch. If the Vees want to take up arms against the Angels they will not do so alone. We need to ensure that they stay alone.â At that, she eyed you.Â
You knew what that meant - a lot of fucking nights at the V Tower listening to a whole lot of nothing. She needed you to play spy. Carmilla would do her part, of course, watching and learning using her own set of spies - she wasnât one of the most powerful Overlords in Hell for her weapons business alone.Â
You stood there and waited for her to name her price. Watching the Vees was in her best interest - not yours. She didnât know that, but she knew you disliked them so and she knew your services werenât free. They were never free. Finally, she laid down a number. You werenât happy with it, but you also owed Carmilla for your seat at the table. Thus, you wouldnât complain.Â
Turning, you headed for the edge of the balcony, preparing to jump before she stopped you again. âI feel the need to explain myself.â
You had another place to be tonight and, of course, you were already late.Â
You donât turn back to her, expecting this to be brief.Â
âMy girls and I have known you from the beginning,â Carmilla began. From the corner of your eye, you watch Odette and Claraâs eyes grow big. âAnd although you donât trust me anymore, know this. I do not do the things I do for you because of who you are, but because of who you have made yourself into.âÂ
Images of Claraâs blood and Carmillaâs screams fill your vision. You shake the memory away.Â
âThe last thing I wish to see is you harmed.â Her voice breaks. âI. Am. Sorry.â
Your eyes flit to Clara, yet the girl didnât meet your gaze, guilt held in her tight-lipped mouth.Â
You knew how sorry she was. You knew.Â
You take off into the night.Â

From the shadows of the I.M.P office rose a figure clad in red.Â
The imp working the desk jumped in shock, spewing coffee over the papers on his desk. âHoly shit! Mr. Radio⌠The Radio⌠Over⌠Demon LordâŚâ
âAlastor, is fine. Pleasure,â the demon smiled, his teeth and eyes practically glowing in the night.Â
âMoxie! Millie! Fuck! Get in here!â He screamed at the door, sprinting to the otherside of the desk to pull out a chair. The wooden seat shoke in his arms, clacking against the floorboards. Even the Natives were afraid of him, it seemed.Â
Two smaller imps burst through, but jumped back at the sight of the Overlord seated in front of Blitzâs desk.Â
âThe⌠The⌠Radio⌠De⌠DemonâŚâ Moxie tried to speak from behind the cover of his darling wife, but words would not agree with him.
âYes, yes,â Alastor waved. âI believe weâve covered that part already, havenât we?â
Blitz pulled out about fifty pens, only one making it into his hand and the other fourty nine spewing onto the floor. He ripped a few pieces of paper before finally pulling one free and set about writing notes. âWhat can we do yaâ for, your Overlordness?â He gave an awkward laugh, his elbow tipping the cup of coffee over on his desk. âShit. Fuck. Shit. Moxie get me a towel!â
The lesser imp and his wife disappeared from the room.Â
âI need you to find someone for me,â Alastor purred, his hands resting atop his microphone.Â
âFind someone⌠We donât really doâŚâ As Blitz talked, the green glare of Alastorâs aura began to fill the room.Â
Blitz swallowed dryly, trying to think. âYeah, Oh⌠Okay we can find someone for you. Whatâs their name?â
âI donât know,â Alastorâs smile strained. He didnât like not having the upper hand in any situation. Part of the reason why he was here, he needed more information. He needed leverage, just in case.Â
âYou donât knowâŚâ Blitz rose an eyebrow.Â
âWhatâs a hound got to do to get some sleep aroundâŚâ A female Hellhound turned the corner, coming eye to eye with Alastor before slinking away, whining as she went.Â
âNo, I do not know, for they are already dead and do not go by their Christian name,â Alastor continued.Â
âAlready dead⌠What the fuck are you here for? We kill alive people.â Blitz was now thoroughly confused, but Alastor was having none of that.Â
âI want information on who and what they did when they were alive,â His smile was strained against his teeth. His patience was being tested.Â
âWhy?â The imp asked.Â
Wrong thing to say.Â
âOooooh, shit,â Blitz jumped behind his desk to shield himself from the growing mass that was Alastorâs demon form. âOkay! Okay!â The imp caved. âWeâll do whatever you want! We just need a name! Shit. Somewhere to start, at least!?âÂ
The Radio Demon shrank back, finally happy to hear some progress. It was getting harder and harder to contain his anger lately.Â
âShe goes by Thestral.â

Can I ask for your reasoning behind the Jake and Vriska pairing? This isn't out of hate or anything i am just very curious
3/4 of the alpha kids are IMMEDIATELY introduced with "btw, here's the dead troll you're supposed to date".
Your name is ROXY. God DAMN do you love WIZARDS. (Editor's Note: also Princes. A Prince who is also a wizard? Holy shit.)
So he made a couple of coy recommendations for objects of your attraction, and you have hung his COBALT BEEFCAKES here since. He was pretty spot on with the blue Funke, to be honest, since that's like the best show ever. Mr. Cross can blue himself any time, as far as you are concerned. [...] There is also your magnificent SWANSON. Ron Swanson is the PERFECT MAN.
And Jake's is the most blatant, in my opinion:
But who needs chums, when you can enjoy a top notch gander of your GALS OF CERULEAN COMPLEXION, HUBBA HUBBA. You are oft-times the recipient of a good ribbing from Jane on account of your peculiar fascination with blue movie ladies. You don't have to justify yourself to her though. What is even her deal? Any fella would be off his ROCKER not to fawn over all these BODACIOUS BLUE KNOCKOUTS. You want to make out with all of them. Dear, sweet Neytiri from James Cameron's Avatar. Oh, if only you were the one who could have overcome his paralysis on an alien adventure planet to become her boyfriend, instead of that other guy. Then she could have shown you how to be bold and courageous, and stand up to fight for your people, and maybe later, engage in a bizarre extraterrestrial reproductive process involving ponytails, and a magical tree you guess?
So for those keeping score, Roxy and Eridan, Jane and Equius (moment of silence), and Jake and Vriska. It's further proven by how stunningly hot he finds Aranea, who is a dead ringer for Vriska, and further supported by the fact that Jake is very much Vriska's type - she has a weird red, vascillatory thing for Tavros, and briefly dates John. Tavros is a Page, and John shares many genetic personality similarities with Jake, his ecto-grandpa. Honestly, if I were to distill down Vriska's taste in guys into one single person, it would just be Jake.
And yeah, I know that he and Vriska basically have nothing going on between them post-retcon, but I only consider everything after Game Over to be soft canon anyway, since by that point it's clear that Hussie has no intention of finishing Homestuck the way it was originally intended to end (there are way too many dangling plot threads, many of the choices - especially revolving around Vriska - seem genuinely aimed to make as much of the fandom upset as possible, and the tone and themes swerve wildly from their original trajectories in a way that feels rushed and incongruous). Pre-Retcon, the comic is gunning HARD for red Vriska/Jake endgame, and I put more weight on that than post-retcon's weird personality-regressed Vriska.
So I am specifically talking about post-character-development Vriska and Jake - Vriska who's had her feelings jams with John, proper apology and reconciliation with Aradia, Sollux, and Tavros, and is in a stable moirallegiance - Vriska who no longer feels the need to be such a massive bitch all the time and isn't trying to solo the game and steal the spotlight. Vriska at her best would probably be really healthy for him - Jake clearly enjoys a challenge much more than Tavros (though not enough to work well with Dirk), and Vriska clearly has a thing for goofy little failboys. It's not gay but not everything can be a W for us fujos, sadly.
#homestuck#jake english#vriska serket#standard reminder of you dont need to ship what i ship#and i also dont care what you ship. be free and wild and ship whatever you want#this is just a canon discussion blog and the canon has stuff to say about vriska and jake in the red quad#idk it's literally not serious lmao

Iâve seen some people say âyou canât just say its âbad writingâ only because Byler didnât become endgame.â There are some films where the driving force for its success is the romantic storyline. Two people go on an adventure and you root for them to get together and thereâs ups and downs and twists and turns and then in the final minutes they share a kiss and all is right in the world. THEN thereâs a sequel and they break up and do it all over again just to get back together AGAIN in the end âthatâs bad writing. Itâs cheap writing. Youâre back to square one. The driving force of strangers things success is NOT Mike and El as a couple. Period. Nobody wants to watch them break up just to get back together season after season. Even the GA is tired of their shit and thinks theyâre better off apart. Everyone can see the cracks in their relationship even if they donât have an answer yet as to why Mike is behaving this way. We havenât had his POV in a while. We donât know whatâs going on in his head. People love to just chalk up his behavior to puberty or poor writing or just straight up believing that Mike is just a jerk now instead of doing a little digging and figuring out why. I 100% believe that if Mike didnât go to California when he did he definitely would have been a victim of Vecna. No doubt in my mind because itâs obvious heâs struggling with something difficult. Something that has made it impossible for him to say that he loves his girlfriend for 2 whole seasons. Something that makes him push Will away. Mike being queer and in love with Will would make sense. It would plug up all of those little holes in his story so far. It would be an answer as to why heâs been behaving weirdly. It fits the pattern of how this show builds characters with layers and depth and builds storylines with cool twists and unexpected turns. A show that for an entire season had its audience intentionally believe in a Robin/Steve romantic pairing. To root for them to get together and to grow to love herâknowing full well that it wasnât going to end as expected. Thatâs good writing. Itâs great writing. You never want the writing in a show to feel predictable. Thatâs no fun. I argue that it ended better than it would have if they had just end up together. Would they have been a nice couple together? Yeah!âbut instead of yet another straight relationship we have this beautiful platonic friendship that the show needed. The writing in this show is NOT BAD thatâs the whole point. It would be out of character for a show that is centered on nerds, freaks, outcast and finding your true self and not conforming to what society deems normal to have the storyline of the traumatized gay kid end sadly in unrequited love just to continue the storyline of a failing relationship. Why is it so weird for people to think that they couldnât do that same thing they did with Robin with Mike. Yeah some people might not buy it might say it came out of nowhere. BUT just because they might not have picked up on the hints doesnât mean they werenât there. Sometimes people need to have the answer to the equation first before they go back and look for those hints. To see the finished puzzle first to then begin to fill in those blanks. To prompt a rewatch of the series which shows like stranger things love to do because there are so many nuances in the dialogue and so many plot points hidden in subtext that you might not see in one watch. To have people eventually go âOh, why didnât I see that? That makes sense now!â To have those people who grew to hate Mike finally sympathize with him and to understand his struggles. To tell a better storyâ a story that usually isnât told. A story that challenges the audience and makes them see things in a different way.
this was my last anonymous ask before i turned them off and it was super nice to see this <3 i agree with ya ofc on most of these things

I sometimes think about how one of the reasons theories about byler are considered "reaches" is because bylers like to be really loud about the details, and subtext, and many things that could be up to interpretation.

I think the vast majority of us are queer and see the simple narrative- so the LITERAL STORY, aka what's right in our faces, as far too obvious that we don't even need to elaborate or emphasize on it. but see, we forget we're arguing with an audience who didn't realize will was gay and in love with mike until season 4 episode 8, or worse: until his actor had to go on an INTERVIEW and "clarify" it đ¤Śââď¸đ¤Śââď¸ as if it wasn't dead obvious years ago lol. many bylers are at the point where it's like- "ok yeah the basic story points to byler, boring, yawn we all know that... BUT DID YOU NOTICE THE COLOUR OF THEIR SHIRTS AND-" you get the gist lol.
Like it's still crazy to me how even the most obvious romantically charged moments and narrative devices used to build byler up go over other people's heads.

I mean... a vow to go "crazy together"? a confession of mike saying that being friends with will was the BEST THING he ever did, which pulled will out of possession?? sleeping at will's bedside multiple times, and taking him home?? acting insanely weird after learning will painted something for a girl? All their fights being depicted or shot like romantic breakups/arguments?? Mike being able to say ily after he heard Will's veiled confession for him and thought those feelings were from El? (perfect plot device for byler endgame btw đŻ). The one person who Mike can actually talk to and be vulnerable around being Will? Will bringing out mike's truest and best version of himself (very unlike the self destructive or insecure nature brought out in his current relationship)? The pairing whose relationship has been emphasized in the story since the literal FIRST ONE ON ONE INTERACTION in this whole damn show???
But yeah, this all really seems to go over the audience's heads. Because even with will being confirmed as in love with mike, it doesn't seem to be enough for the audience to recontextualize mike and will's past moments through a romantic lens... like damn. heteronormativity is really a drug huh

Sjm didn't make elucien mates and then change her mind. She knew she's going to make elriel endgame from the get go. Even when she had Lucien say, "you are my mate". If you reread the series, acosf comes of as a filler. It was Nesta's healing journey but it was also used to set some of the vital plot points for Elain's book, with Azriel. And she's not going to change the direction of such a solid overarching plot for gwynriel. GA a mediocre ship with an over done couple dynamic. And sjm doesn't have history of bending to the readers whim. As for Lucien, she's already introduced Vassa and laid the foundation of Lucien and Vassa's story. Pairing Lucien with Elain would be a waste of a great story and a great female character (Vassa). She's not going to do that. If eluciens and gwynriels think the time magazine article was a random mention of Elain and Azriel that has nothing to do with sjm or BB they are sorely mistaken.
You mean SJM thought Nesta would be with Lucien only to change her mind with how toxic they'd be together just to pair him with Elain knowing Az was her endgame? Weird.
I really enjoy how you take a journalists own words over that of the author herself.
Somehow the journalist saying that fans speculate about Az and Elain is a bigger deal to you than SJM being quoted as saying because she has it in her own life, she can write about men who are the females biggest supporter, cheering her on and supporting her growth and we then have the author herself writing it so Az gets SCOLDED for not believing in Elain.
And VASSA is a greater female character than Gwyn who became one of the first Valkryie in how many years? Yes, Vassa's many many pages of dialogue clearly prove your point. I think Vassa says a total of 10 sentences throughout the entire series.
Vassa will still be important, but as a side character in Elucien's journey as their friend who will end up with Jurian.
But you got us, E/riel is up there with the greatest love stories of all time.
ACOMAF
And Mor backed away. Step by step. "What a prize," the kind said, that black gaze devouring her. Azriel's head lifted from where he was sprawled in his own blood, eyes full rage and pain as he snarled at the king, "Don't you touch her." Mor loked at Azriel - and there was real fear there. Fear - and something else. She didn't stop moving until she again kneeled beside him and pressed a hand to his wound. Azriel hissed - but covered her bloody fingers with his own. (oh....just so you know, Elain was kidnapped and is currently bound and gagged, with the King preparing to put her into the Cauldron but Az is a little too busy focusing on Mor to care).
ACOWAR
And somehow had to guard Elain, though I certainly wasn't about to tell Lucien that. Cassian, swearing and pissy, got the short stick, and Azriel only clapped him on the shoulder before heading to the house to prepare. (Here we have Elain depressed but Az is happy to leave her).
Throughout it, he was quiet - removed. Even by his standards. I made the mistake of asking if he'd spoken to Mor since he'd left last night. No, he had not. And that was that. Even if he kept flexing his scarred hand at his side. As if recalling the sensation of the hand she'd whipped free of his touch during the meting. Over and over. (I think you might want to rethink that fanart scene that's floating around of Az flexing his hand for Elain a la Mr. Darcy).
"It's worth a try," Mor sniped. "You're needed here," Cassian said. Azriel looked included to agree, even as he kept quiet. (Elain had a vision with her Seer powers, something Az claimed "We need"......yet he did absolutely nothing about it. He did did not fight for what she was seeing, he did not offer to go. How incredibly supportive!).
ACOMAF
"Are we supposed to get the sisters presents?" "No I said, and I meant it. Az seemed to loose a sigh of relief".
Az, to his credit, gave Mor a smile of thanks, a blush creeping over his cheeks, his hazel eyes fixed on her. I looked away at the heat, the yearning that filled them.
ACOSF
Nesta said to Feyre, "Did you tell Elain?"
Before Feyre could reply, Azriel said, "What about Mor?"
"Where's my beautiful Mor?" Az said tightly, "Away."
Azriel stiffened, an outright sign of temper from him as he said quietly, "There is an innate darkness to the Dread Trove that Elain should not be expose to." / She threw a nod toward Azriel. "Including Elain, who is more than capable of defending herself against the darkness of the Trove, if she chooses to." Don't underestimate her."
Rhysand blinked, "What of Mor, Az?" Azriel ignored the question.
Azriel said nothing. He hadn't gotten that far with his planning, certainly not beyond the sexual fantasies he pleasured himself to.
HOFAS
"We defeated Hybern," Azriel confirmed. A glance toward Truth-Teller at his side. Then at Nesta. "Nesta beheaded the King of Hybern by herself."
There you go. That's your beautiful, romantic, SJM planned from the start love story of Elain and Az.
It doesn't matter how many sweet moments you have for E/riel the fact remains that shortly after each scene, Az was written to still be hung up on Mor (funny how his longing glances only became few and far between in the book where Mor WAS NO LONGER IN THE NIGHT COURT FOR A MAJORITY OF THE TIME), where he still disrespected Elain, where he never once gave her credit for the brave things she did during the war, where he never once addressed her depression or the things she lost like her father, her humanity, her fiance.
And the overarching plot already lends itself to an Elucien and Gwynriel endgame. There's no mental gymnastics or changing the characters personalities to make it fit.
Pairing Elain with Az would be a waste of Elain's character. If you cared for Elain as you say you do you'd ship her with Amren more than Az considering Amren had to reprimand Az for underestimating her.
"But it's what Elain wants!"
Sometimes young girls that just experienced trauma are foolish thinking they know what they want even though the adults in the room can clearly see it's not healthy đ¤ˇ. Elain is working through it all but once she comes out on the other side, she'll see things a bit more clearly. I think we got our evidence of that when she returned Az's necklace and I can't wait to see if in the next book she finds out about the bullshit he said about her and Lucien.
I have never heard of a more delusional comment than claiming SJM used SF as filler for an E/riel endgame. SJM is on record of saying how Nesta felt keenly alive to her early on, how she feels emotional rereading SF because of her own journey with mental health issues yet you're turning into E/riel fodder.

I am not sure if this is just me but I always thought Hori has always wanted BKDK to end up together, and I am not just saying this from a romantic perspective. I think he wanted them to be together, 'forever', as a duo and for that reason neither of them ended up in some other romantic relationship or marriage (aka the reason why izch didn't happen and narratively cannot happen because it stands in the ending Hori intended to give to BKDK).
Oh absolutely,,I do believe part of the reason izch wasnât endgame was because mha is a shounen and its entire plot is focused around super powered kids, so any of its romance is going to be in the background, unless it's important to a specific character/or the plot. The other reason I believe izch wasnât endgame was becauseânow hear me out, Ochakoâs crush on Izuku was only for development and to lead her up to her fight with toga. That might sound extreme, and Iâm not meaning to offend any izch shippers, I'm a multishipper myself and I love them too! But specifically from a writing standpoint, Ochakoâs crush on Izuku wasnât meant to go any farther than it did. Ochakoâs crush came from a place of admiration for Izukuâs heroicness, and his willingness to risk everything for the sake of others. Her crush was meant to drive her forward in that aspect, allowing her to evolve as a hero, to become betterâjust like Izuku. It also gave her something in common with Himiko. As their first encounter back in chapter 80 Himiko tells Ochako that she knows sheâs crushing on somebody, and tries to relate to her by saying, âOf course you wanna be just like the one you love. Itâs naturalâ And their encounter after that she continues to try to reach out to Ochako, to convince her that sheâs normal, that her desire to become like one ones she loves isnât weird, and that she doesnât understand why society ostracized her for her craving for blood if it was just a desire to be like other people. Ochako admittedly doesnât recognize Himikoâs attempt at reaching out to be saved until it's too late. The end of her second fight with Himiko helps her realize this, after seeing her tears and finding the desire to help her welling up inside her, eventually leading up to their last fight where Ochako confronts these feelings and finally reaches out to Himiko. Just like Izuku she reached out to save someone when she saw their pain, no matter if they were a regular person or a villain. Her drive to become like Izuku helped her character grow into a proper hero, one who recognizes villains as people too, ones who also need saving. This is also why it was only really one-sided, because if Izuku had reciprocated Ochakoâs feelings it wouldâve been completely unnecessary to the plot. Ochakoâs crush on Izuku was used as a catalyst for her similarities with Himiko. One that Himiko used to try and connect with her earlier on in the series. Izukuâs development stems from his relationship with Katsuki (and vice versa) . They have so many parallels it's insane. Katsuki needed to confront his complicated feelings about Izuku head on(bk the fakest idgaf-er on the planet). He needed to apologize and work at being a better friend to him. And Izuku, who constantly imitates Katsuki in battle, needed to learn not to carry everyoneâs burdens on himself, he needed to realize when it's okay to ask for help and that itâs necessary to reach out to others when you canât handle it all on your own. Izuku strived to save others but who would save him when he needed it? Thatâs why Katsukis apology is so so soo important and in the future when Izuku gets his suit, Hori specifically mentioning Bakugo being at the âheart of itâ was there for a reason! They were always meant to be together at the end even if it's not in a romantic way. They are literally soulmates. I cannot express this enough !!! (sorry if this is so long, I had to think about how exactly I wanted to respond to this. definitely got the gears moving!)

As a Mighty Nein lover, is there anything you want out of the animated series in particular that perhaps wasn't seen or was unemphasized in the improv of the game when obviously no one was aware what paths we'd go down/what would become important later? Any moments you wonder how they'll portray *without* the framework of the dnd game?
I also generally wonder if m9 shipass discourse/whatever weird entitlement ppl had to the official character designs not fitting their headcanons will end up reviving, but largely i feel like the ppl who were stupid about that kind of thing hated the backhalf of c2 so soundly that it would take a deep delusion that "no for sure they'll change the plot" or a true self hatred for them to watch the animation, and ppl coming in WITH the animation likely are going to grab the telegraphed relationships much more soundly since they understand it as Written. (Please tell me if I'm wrong bc I only picked up m9 maybe in the ep50 mark and got involved in fandom spaces much later, but I feel like the weird piss of the fandom got intolerably bad mostly after the covid hiatus? Where ppl had no content for months and created an echo chamber of headcanon while forgetting that the campaign was about anything. This might still happen between animated series seasons but I think people cannot complain anymore that the source material is source material-ing.)
Hi anon,
I don't have any specific wishes. I'm excited that we'll see a little bit from before the campaign, as the Fjord and Jester animatic indicates; would love to see that for Veth and Caleb, and Molly and Yasha as well. Otherwise off the top of my head there isn't really much that we didn't see I really feel the need to see? I like the Briarwoods flashback in TLOVM but there's not a ton in C2 that benefits from turning the camera onto NPCs like that, for example. Maybe a brief Avantika and Vandran moment? Perhaps Essek stealing the beacon? But honestly one of the remarkable things about C2 was that there were so many weird happy coincidences that it accidentally had a lot of foreshadowing you could not have planned.
I've said this a bunch about C3 and some of the ongoing conversations about the gods before but it's relevant here as well: I generally assume that in a fandom space, there will be discourse. There is nothing so clear and obviously telegraphed that someone who's decided to stick their fingers in their ears and harden their heart and turn off their brain cannot ignore or disregard. There are still, to this day, after Fjord and Jester failed to break up in episode 141, the Mighty Nein Reunited, or Echoes of the Solstice and in fact got engaged, and Beau and Yasha are married and Caleb and Essek refer to each other as partners, people who insist that Caleb or Beau and Jester were "supposed" to be endgame but for (unstated nebulous cause that they will not deign to describe because if they do so, there are pretty obvious holes one could poke in it) and I think it's been pretty clearly signaled. People thought that TLOVM would have a Vex and Keyleth romance because of a single frame when they were next to each other. You could have the entire Critical Role cast on camera go "here are the endgame relationships" and someone would be like "well, but what if that was a bluff." I think there might be less discourse among new fans but I do not think there will be none.
For what it's worth, while I do think C2 ship discourse was pretty awful and was exacerbated by a combination echo chamber and the general mood of 2020 and early 2021, I think C3 discourse is, while perhaps less harassment-focused, in much more bad faith. Like, ship discourse can get nasty and awful, don't get me wrong, but I feel like most people involved were either reading things that weren't there specifically about ships but were pretty reasonable about the plot (at least not until very, very late in the game) and I feel like they were genuine fans of Critical Role and had a decent sense of the world and the lore and just. went absolutely nuts and started sending harassment because their blorbos did not kiss and/or get resurrected. Whereas I feel like the worst of C3 discourse involves people who came in with little understanding of D&D nor the world and frankly a decent amount of derision towards everything that came before, proceeded to show up in a clown wig screaming "LISTEN UP FIVES, A TEN IS SPEAKING", promptly shit themselves and started crying, and now are not just wondering why few people like them or taking them seriously but are also throwing out whatever random-ass accusations they think will stick as they sit in the detritus of their increasingly incorrect predictions.
Anyway this is all to say whenever someone is like "surely this revision will prevent fans from interpreting art in a stupid way" my response is "I believe that some people are innovating in the field of stupid interpretations; do what makes you happy and acknowledge that they will always exist."
also, while i'm running my mouth before i go run errands, this is just a blanket statement re character designs and headcanons. (the "you" here is obviously not at anon, but rather the people they described). If you wish a character looked different than their canonical depiction, great. No one is stopping you. If you think canon exists to validate your headcanons, it doesn't. If you think people online saying "I don't like a headcanon" is stopping you from doing anything, it isn't. If you pitch fits about either of those things, you are a self-absorbed child. And if you are really attached to all of your diverse headcanons and yet never seem to gravitate towards characters who are canonically portrayed with those same identities, a whole lot of people are side-eyeing you.

I went and had a look at the 911 ig page after I saw a post about it and wow, people are Mad about this. Plus, most of the comments are really thoughtful as well - they are pointing out about how Buck seems to be going through a breakup every season, how incongruous it feels after the last episode, how weird it was to have that happen after Josh's speech and how Tommy fit in well with the rest of the characters. They keep saying that it is a wasted potential and they were hopeful for Buck to be in a good relationship for once. Most of these people were not expecting it to be endgame but they are disappointed about how the break-up happened without any build-up. I can't find the comment anymore but this one person commented how one of the truest representations of the bisexual experience came from Tommy's words because his assumptions echoed how bisexuals are often seen within the LGBTQIA+ community itself.
[So many thoughts and reasons and expectations and all the few toxic buddies camping there have to say are "Haha", "It was meant to happen", "No chemistry", "plot device". Like sure if you think that but at least give evidence. Thank you for your IWTV posts and clearing up misconceptions. Tbh I wouldn't be so annoyed if people weren't constantly determined to do as many bad faith readings as possible when it came to Louis and Armand's relationship. Like of course it was a very flawed and very complicated relationship, we know this! But it's so obvious when a fan is making a post about how it was "completely loveless and devoid of sexual intimacy" solely so their own otp could look better. So many examples that others have already pointed out, including that one take about Louis disliking the first TVD performance, so this means that he hates theater in general and prefers Lestat over Armand (excuse me, what?)
Also more than one person trying to say how loumand had more PDA and not just for Daniel in the Dubai interview. But that this meant "every affectionate gesture between them to ever happen including Paris was just for performance" and was not truly genuine compared to what was with Lestat? Um no shit, Louis and Lestat had more of their love scenes behind closed doors. But also consider the context with how things were in NOLA and Louis having to pose as another person (brother, business partner, etc) because of rumors surrounding him and his lover. How due to racial discrimination he couldn't even get into an opera house without playing Lestat's servant. Then skip forward to the 1940s when he believed he can actually be comfortable doing this openly "Paris was a formative sexual liberation", with him having those casual relationships with other men while cruising. To kissing and being affectionate with Armand in public and not give a damn who is watching or if he's being heckled for it. This isn't even trying to reduce Louis' previous relationships either or say they're less important, more that Louis' comfort with how he expressed his own sexuality and romantic gestures developed over time.
As for Dreamstat... guys he's an extension of Louis' inner thoughts (a complex mixture of emotions before Louis was ready to enter a new relationship), but he wasn't present during loumand sex scenes either... and Louis certainly wasn't having sex with Armand just for Dreamstat to watch??
Despite already knowing what's "endgame" some people still can't allow even a single moment of love, attraction and vulnerability between loumand to just exist without twisting it into something else, or making it actually about Lestat or Daniel while propping up their preferred pairing. good lord, I'm tired of this.
đĽ°thanks anon! i'm not as familiar with tv fandom so maybe i'm not understanding why people are so resistant to acknowledging louis's attraction to armand (even pre-claudia's murder) when they were together in canon. like in both the show and the book (and not in a future book, devil's minion stans). since when are people not allowed to enjoy different relationships at different times? i think it's silly to ignore or misrepresent whole sections of the plot just to feel like your favorite ship is the more romantic(?) or healthier (đ) ship, i guess? but yeah, recognizing any romance or attraction between louis and armand (especially from louis towards armand) makes some people angry, as though it undermines armand's abuse or any future relationship either party will have.
not much to add to what you said - the majority of fans only care about louis to the extent he cares about lestat, so they focus on dreamstat/lestat scenes in s2 and ignore the many scenes without him. then there are fans that can't let go of their s1 headcanons that conflict with new information from s2 (louis tops sometimes. it's just a fact now. please stop being weird about it.) i also hate the refusal to engage with louis's repeated statements about his changing relationship to his sexuality over time. his sexual preferences are not stuck in 1910, and i don't agree with pathologizing louis topping or having sex with men besides lestat (if you're not into it, just say that, but don't act like there's no evidence for louis enjoying a different sex life in the show).
i'm not a solo shipper and i love thinking about louis so it's not hard for me to imagine louis in multiple relationships (and in various positions đĽľ), and lucky for me i get to see that on screen! cause that's what the show is about actually! louis! the titular vampire.
#anon ask#discourse with the vampire#loumand#my twin#gremlin nurse#the more you have to warp the script to support your theory the less likely it is imo#it's in s1 when people tried to act like ep 5 didn't happen#yes people are allowed to interpret things differently but there are priors there are facts there are events that must happen#and yes i chose that picture for a reason - louis lit armand's dick candle - sit with that for a minute loumanders#even if jacob anderson betrayed me levan akin got me

So I just read this post and have some additional thoughts. I'm making a new post so as to avoid any potential shipping nonsense on OP because no one wants that.
Basically OP is talking about how Buck's storyline is about learning how to love and be loved and Eddie's is about self-discovery (very abbreviated overview...please read the original).
Anyway, Buck's storyline being around learning how to love and be loved made me start thinking about Tommy and how he fits into this.
(Full disclosure I ship Buddie. I am not a multishipper, but generally don't have a problem with other ships. I just avoid their content because it hurts my feelings đ
.)
The way that Tommy has been presented thus far is, imo, another stepping stone on the path of Buck realizing what he really wants so he can find a fulfilling endgame love/partner. The post I linked goes through the lessons Buck learned from his other romantic partners, and so far Tommy has been framed as "the LI that makes Buck realize he's queer".
The few scenes they've had together up to now really don't feel like the way an endgame LI gets presented. I know folks are rooting for him and Buck to be it, but the writers would have to pivot a lot to do that. (Not that they can't, just...it WOULD be a pivot).
First, Tommy did not pursue Buck. Buck is pretty consistently chasing after his failed romances and Tommy is no different.
Second, the narrative choices have inserted Tommy in specific scenarios between Buck and Eddie. Tommy and Buck have really only been Eddie-less two times. First, when they had coffee and Buck asked him out and second, when they kissed in the hospital. Both of these were ways to move Buck's story forward and had little to do with the development of Buck/Tommy because narratively they're entirely one sided. Tommy comes to coffee so Buck can admit he wants to try something and they kiss in the hospital so Buck can come out to the firefam without making a lengthy, time sucking speech.
Tommy is there in both cases to move Buck's story along. Every other interaction between the two has either had Eddie in the scene or mentioned him a strange amount. I don't remember any of the other people Buck dated being framed so closely to Eddie or having Eddie haunt their relationship the way he has with Tommy.
This doesn't mean Eddie and Buck are endgame, but what it does mean is that Tommy is LIKELY a plot device to propel Buck's narrative along. (A narrative which includes a pre-packaged family, btw, who love him exactly as he is. Which maybe he'll decide he DOESN'T want, we don't know.) As OP of the linked post said, Buck is learning how to love and be loved and Tommy, while significant what with the bisexuality of it all, really just feels like another step in this process to me.
Obviously this is just one woman's opinion and like OP I'm old and have been disappointed too many times to put my whole chest into believing Buddie is endgame, but right now the narrative isn't really implying Buck/Tommy is either so whatever happens I think Buck is still a work in progress regarding his HEA.
(Also it shouldn't need to be said but please don't get spicy about ship wars kthxbye)
Edited because tumblr is being weird about embedded links on my phone....

Hi!! I binge-read some of your byler analysis, along with other users', and I can't help but STILL feel on the fence about hoping for byler endgame. I guess I just don't want to get my hopes super high only for them to be crushed by whatever CGI fest the dĂźff3rs got in store to "go out with a bang" (while, obvs, sticking to the status quo and what they think the GA wants to see). I've seen so many intelligent people write media criticism pieces and analysis in support of the ship, but I still dread that the writers cry plausible deniability on all the clues they DID lay, that the people behind the N*f1ix social media accs confess that they've willingly posted queerbait to boost their engagement and thus get a bigger paycheck (I wouldn't blame them if they did, obvs; besides, it still means that some higher-up approved those misleading posts) and, worst of all, that this whole thing may end up blowing up negatively like the JohnLock conspiracy or the Voltron shenanigans or, y'know, the Supernatural fandom after Castiel's introduction and up until that lame ass final season. In your opinion, what makes byler different? Is there real hope for a satisfying mlm relationship from a show made by het men that capitalizes on 80s nerd culture nostalgia?
Sorry for coming off so jaded: I do wish for a byler ending, but it's been hard to keep my hopes aflame against these worries :c
i think everyone has some amount of doubt, which is totally understandable.
lgbt representation has come a long way, but a lot of us fans who are a bit older grew up consuming media that either had no representation or shitty representation. we sought ourselves in the media we loved and never found it, and corporations exploited that. nowadays there's way more representation that isn't left up to interpretation or censored, but a lot of the time that's in shows that are about romance and drama, high school a lot of the time. which is great, but stranger things is a sci fi show with romantic sub plots. it's easy for queer characters to end up being left out of a show like ST, but they haven't been at all.
one of the big messages of ST is embracing weirdness and being different. loving whatever it is you love, unashamed. when a character strays from being their true self or pushes away the things they love, there are consequences for the character. they become less likable to the audience. the entire theme of s4 is living in the truth, not hiding things, embracing love, being misunderstood simply because you're different. all of that is very queer coded. and it happens to be the season where will's love for mike fully comes into light.
there has been so much thought put into stranger things. the duffers have said there are no coincidences. they put thought into everything, thats why it takes so long to make a season, because they care so much. there are endless details i could point out not related to romance. they've also said they've been set on the ending for a while and will not be changing it to please people. i believe they said some people might not like the ending, but they don't care because they're making the story THEY want. which so far has uplifted queer people and promoted being different. so some antis may call be stupid for trusting them, but im choosing to. i believe they'll do these characters justice.
and my favorite quote from them is "The best plot twists don't make the audience say "wow I never saw that coming!", it makes you say "I should have seen that coming."
as a writer and a creative writing major, i definitely look up to the writers of ST. they are all incredibly talented and i hope one day i can put this much thought and love into a project. and, as a writer, i cannot see them throwing mike and will's relationship down the drain.
so, what makes byler different? there's very few shows where this much thought is put into everything. its not debatable that they do that, they've said it and its evident if you watch the show. so i refuse to believe all of these things between mike and will are just coincidences or accidents. there's just no possible way. i definitely had a klance phase and i can confidently say voltron writing is nowhere near the level of ST, and neither is supernatural. supernatural is one of those shows that has a lot of seasons and has gone all over the place in terms of writing and plot. the duffers have known the ending to this story since season 1. and unlike those shows with lots of seasons, ST only has 5. it won't be dragged on and beaten like a dead horse like some shows.
you don't have to completely eliminate your doubt. even i have doubt even after all i've said and posted. there is simply no way to confirm what'll happen before s5 releases, and they want it that way. just hold on until s5 friend

Hi, I hope the writing has been going fine.
One of my most favorite works of yours is of girl Charles, have you ever thought about how would you go about writing a girl Max of you ever tried to? Honestly Max's life would be 100 times more difficult as a woman, people would have hated too much on his blunt and no-nonsense nature (something which they already do)
Also how was Deadpool and Wolverine, going through a movie burnout right now do you think I should try watching it?
hi there anon! sorry for taking some time to answer this. i haven't written so much the past few days, i just enjoyed the time being back home :) but i do hope it will go well once i properly start writing again!!
it has become a bit of a yap fest answering this ask so, more below the cut!! please excuse any grammar mistakes, i've been typing this on my phone
and as for fem!max... yes i have but i have no particular plot line/ship in mind yet. the idea didn't... dunno, grab me properly like fem!charles, not yet. i hope one day it will, because i know i could write something interesting.
while yes, i agree to what you said, i also have to disagree. fem!max would have her father throwing his weight around, a man who has many contacts, including the schumacher's. fem!charles had none of that, not even jules could've brought her so far like a father who is established in the motorsport world would have.
and of course, fem!max wouldn't be very different from actual max but do you really think red bull would just not do anything? they would be the team, who have the first woman who won a race, won several championships (later), they would invest in her and they wouldn't just idly sit by and watch everyone rip her apart
red bull would invest in her because 1. they see her talent, they see what she can do and they don't want that to go wasted, because they also see she can use that talent, 2. getting a woman like fem!max as a driver would fit their mentality, the motto of red bull. they advertise their drink not with typical advertising, they do it with world records and crazy attempts in all kinds of sports. it's their essence, it's captured in the "red bull gives you wings". having someone like fem!max would fit perfectly. 3. now the former two reasons, make up the third one. red bull does NOT want a pr perfect athlete/driver, like charles for example. they want someone rough around the edges, someone bullheaded, so with fem!max, they don't want a blond princess. considering max's personality, it's perfect (in some degree) for them, because they don't have to fake the toughness!!
rb pr would work so much harder to show who fem!max is. to show the world that max is an athlete, one of her kind, not just any woman within motorsport, she is THE woman. she's blunt, does not lie, values honesty and hard work (because she does it herself), is absolutely obsessed with racing and cars, and has some weird quirks like everyone else! red bull pr doesn't want a humble female driver, they want someone who represents their brand, so everyone immediately associates them with their driver, when they just hear the driver's name.
does this make sense? i really hope it does đ if anyone has any questions or wants me to elaborate (because i cut it down a bit), send me another ask!
and now, finally, deadpool and wolverine! yes, i can only recommend the movie. if you like deadpool 1&2, you will like this movie. if you like wolverine, you will also like this movie. and if you like marvel but think the mcu fell off ever since endgame, you will probably also like this movie đ¤

An ONK question that's been on my mind a lot is that what does ch109 serves to the character of Kamiki. The chapter felt out of place to me when it came out, because it's a (supposed) murder and no at all tied to the entertainment industry. It's criminal activity with no nuance. Many read this as an implication that Kamiki has been killing people left right and center and Ai was one of his victims. But... Now I wonder if this is a retcon of some kind. Yura's death was mentioned once (1) after the chapter and I kept wondering how the heck is it possible for Kamiki, a pretty high profile guy in the industry, to be going around killing other high profile people without anyone noticing. It also doesn't feel like the current ONK plot is leaning towards "Kamiki is a psychopath murderer". Don't get me wrong, I like what we know about Kamiki now and how his past shaped him. It feels more in line with the theme of ONK. It's just hard for me to forget that a woman died on screen! I want to know your thoughts on how this might play out / tie into his character? Your character analysis are always on point & your HKAI posts helped me processed a lot of the 15YL plotline.
NGL at this point I really don't know what to make of it LOL. Back when I was first trying to figure out what was going on with Kamiki, I revisited that chapter and actually came away feeling pretty certain that he hadn't actually killed Yura and the presentation there was a red herring to make him seem more actively villainous to the reader and mislead us as to what his intentions were.
Part of this was because we had gotten the reveal of his victimisation at Airi's hands shortly before this chapter (just shy of 10 chapters before, iirc?) and that reveal combined with Akane's revolted horror in reaction to putting those pieces together had me pretty sure we were heading towards a place of Kamiki being portrayed as sympathetic and someone to emphasize with. Thus, it would be weirdly incongruous with that setup for him to also be a yandere serial killer who was wandering around sniping sparkly actresses.
The other (and tbh, probably more influential in hindsight) factor was that we don't actually see Kamiki killing her. The chapter being set up to make him so overtly suspicious while refusing to show him actually committing murder ironically made me less inclined to think he was responsible for Yura's death. The way I interact with murder mysteries and also just like, fiction in general is pretty much entirely filtered through the ways Umineko specifically and When They Cry as a whole warped my brain and the way 109 was presented read to me exactly like the sort of narrative trick R07 would have used to make a character look suspicious of something they didn't actually do.
Now though⌠I really dunno lol. Like you said, it feels out of place - not just in Kamiki's arc but in the story as a whole. My best guess is that Akasaka maybe did originally intend to write Kamiki as a serial killer targeting women who would surpass Ai but in the process of actually putting his arc to paper, he evolved into a different character for whom that kind of arc wouldn't make sense. Which I actually prefer! The Kamiki we get in the manga feels a lot more nuanced and human to me compared to the yandere Light Yagami serial killer mastermind people were making up in their heads. But it also means that Yura's death is this weird snarl that I don't think Akasaka knows how to reconcile.
Actually - literally as I was writing that I suddenly realised, this might be why Nino suddenly came out of nowhere and started being written like she was? Akasaka has said in the past that he's had OnK's ending in his head for a really long time and I can't help but wonder now if part of that ending involved the twins' father playing an antagonistic role that ultimately did not suit the character that he became. So the character's antagonistic traits and role in the endgame were grafted onto Nino because she happened to fit the bill.

okay so I had a really terrible thought and Iâve been following you for a while and I wanted to hear your thoughts (maybe iâm just in a place of doubt rn) BUT
since theyâre basically writing the episodes as they go, and are seeing fans reactions (and possibly taking them into consideration as they write), do you think if they see such a positive reaction to buck/tommy, theyâll make him more long term (and possibly endgame)âŚ? again, I could be overthinking it but Iâve been seeing a tON of buck tommy stuff and idk if theyâre going to consider that when they write the upcoming episodes for the rest of the seasonâŚlike buck/tommy is cute ig donât get me wrong bc we see bisexual buck and him enjoy his first male relationship and like iâm so proud, butâŚiâm an eddie-girl and buddie has always been my endgame
Okay, hi, ngl, I had this exact thought too when Tim kept insisting there's no plan. But the thing is, I don't believe him. I believe he doesn't have the full plot locked and loaded, but I doubt he doesn't have any idea where the story is gonna take him. Personally, I doubt that a few weeks of excitement over Buck being bi will be louder than 5 years of people BEGGING for buddie to happen. Buck and Eddie have a compelling relationship that's been cultivated for YEARS. And, look, far from me to make Buck's bisexuality about Eddie, but making a character who's HEAVILY shipped with another man for years queer in season 7 while having no plan on following through with the love story they've been building for 6 seasons would be dumb. Buck with a new guy and Eddie doubling down on being straight and ending up with some random woman is the worst case scenario here. This fandom is weird in the way that most of it is mono shipping. It's Buck and Eddie together or nothing. So they would piss off the homophobes, who are already pissed, and a solid amount of the people who have been following buddie for years and that's bad for business. They have the power to have a ridiculously compelling queer love story that's built on a foundation that's been there for 6 seasons. Buck and Eddie getting together could be EPIC. And they made the move to make Buck queer. They didn't have to. I love that Buck is getting a queer storyline, but if we are going there with Buck, what's actually stopping them from going there with Eddie? I don't see how you can have one of them being queer and not go there just because people are excited that Buck is bi. Tim can't say it's gonna go there. That would be a spoiler. A huge spoiler. But narratively speaking, or from a business perspective, Buck being bi has to mean buddie getting together. Because that's what people have been wanting from them. And honestly, if they wanted to play Tommy as having any chance of being Buck's endgame, he wouldn't have so many parallels with Taylor. The TK of it all, the helicopter of it all, the kiss that happens because Eddie is injured, Buck is even wearing a shirt that looks like the one he's wearing when Taylor comes back, like, seriously, what the fuck? And that's not going into the symbolism they have to know is there on the way the loft itself is a symbol of romantic doom, because Buck got it in a relationship that instantly Ended and the 2 times he started something there it went up in flames, so like đ¤¨đ¤ I'm curious to see where it's going, but, personally, don't see them actually lasting the rest of the show. At least that's what I'm telling myself to calm down when I panic and trip into the bad place lol
#i wanna trust ryan wouldn't be acting the way he was if what happened was just eddie being a Great Best Friend â˘ď¸ about Buck being by#but thats just my current line of thinking#i did lose hope yesterday for a while but im back in a better place#911#911 speculation#911 spoilers#i really need a tag for asks#i-love-tacoss
