Now I adore Empires. And its been a hot sec since i’ve watched Scotts POV so i could be wrong. but one thing that has always irked me about S1 is that Scott’s parents named their kids, Scott and XORNOTH. like?!?! sure heres our youngest Scott and his demon older brother Xornoth. No, hes not a demon yet. but we know.

I think my favorite part of Session 7 was when Martyn caught Joel taking stuff from his chests and the exchange was something like

"I thought it was Jimmy's!" "It was. It was ours."

Because Martyn's trying so hard to do serious angsty lore bits and the best response Joel can come up with is basically just "That's rough buddy"

ISNT it so funny that the ex-canary’s team was the first team out of the series. Isn’t that so funny guys. Isn’t it so funny that the new canary this season was one of ex-canary’s teammates back when the curse was solidified (last life, when it became a pattern). Isn’t that so funny. Isn’t it so funny that the ex-canary’s seabling from another universe was the one to break his curse. Isn’t that so funny. Isn’t it so funny that that very same seabling, the very same person who was terrified of being out first again, died just moments before him as it was a last ditch attempt of saving him. Isn’t that soo funny. It’s almost like the watchers are taking the people closest to him. It’s almost like it’s a warning, like they’re telling him:

“this is what happens when you’re not the first out, you see the others close to you die. Your teammates, your friends, your sister, you see them all die. If anything we were showing you mercy. Being out first is merciful.”

Isn’t this hilarious guys. Isn’t it so funny.

One thing I always think about is Lizzie's Secret Life death

Like, it's so abrupt. Sure, it seemed inevitable when she backed herself onto the ledge but the ENDERMAN! I couldn't spot where or when she looks at it. So, here's what I propose.

That enderman was already mad at Lizzie when she brought Scott to the End. Why? Because she planned her death. She broke the Canary Curse on purpose.

After Last Life, Jimmy told Lizzie about the curse and how much it hurt. Lizzie made a decision there and then. She would break it.

Before leading Scott to the End, she set up that enderman. She angered it and trapped it in a mechanism that would release it once she was on the edge.

The Watchers despise Lizzie for this. The only time They took notice of her before was when she made the bet that Joel would be the first red during Last Life. They involved her because of Kingdom Craft, They wanted to get Their hands on her. They realised They couldn't force Lizzie to be insane during Last Life so They forgot about her. But she freed the Canary, she broke one of Their curses.

The assassination attempts during Wild Life weren't just everyone trying to get Lizzie off dark green, it was the Watchers trying to make a new Canary. But they underestimated Lizzie. Now They really want her either dead or under their control.

Lizzie keeps evading Them. She isn't playing Their game, They are playing her's. Lizzie is no fool, she builds an image of herself and drops it when it's convenient.

The other thing They despise about her is the fact that she's keeping Them from making Joel follow the lore. This means They can't get to Joel.

Because Joel wasn't meant to win. They wanted Ren to win, They wanted to show Martyn what happens when he ignores Them. Making him win Limited Life wasn't enough, so They went after Ren.

Lizzie has an obligation to protect Ren after Last Life, so she did the one thing she could.

Be a shadow leading people to their death.

Lizzie breaks the rules, she puts a dent in the Watchers' plans. And she gets away with it. Because she doesn't mess around like everyone thinks. She knows what she has to do.

She took Jimmy out with her. She knew Grian had trapped the bunker but she didn't care because she could get Jimmy out of there with it. She's doing what Grian can't because the Watchers can't touch her. She bows to no entity.

And it's not the first instance of it either. Throughout Empires SMP 1, she wasn't concerned by Xornoth, she barely acknowledged him. And he left her alone because he knew better. She was constantly after the crown when it was introduced and hesitant to follow the others laws at best.

The same thing happened in Empires SMP 2, she made people bend to her whims and she didn't get involved with the crossover. She had her own agenda and wasn't going to be put off.

But she took notice of Tag. Because it showed her how Grian functioned as a runaway. She observed him and deduced what she could use against the Watchers.

During Double Life, Cub knew there was something wrong. Someone was there, someone was tied to them and he could do nothing about it, Scar had vanished again and someone was trying to use him. It wasn't the Vex who did this, they'd go into a rage every time Scar was taken, one of their most valued servants. This was not the work of his own kind, it was something else trying to rewind Scar's nature and chain it to one of theirs. Grian was hungry. Hungrier than he'd ever been before, and nothing was helping. Scar said it wasn't too bad, it got like this every time, it wasn't too bad. it'd be worse next week, and then the week after, until he wished he felt the like he did now. Until the red haze set over and they could feast. If he listened closely, he could hear the screaming. Thousands of voices spewing hatred at the bond and their captors. And amongst that, a single familiar whisper from beyond the veil.

Ohhh yea double life angst, we love it

1: Cub could definitely feel some sense of Grian being bound to Scar. And probably also a bit of that Watcher stuff. The idea of the Watchers trying to diminish Scar's vex power so they could safety soulbound him to Grian without the vex/watcher magic is very cool. And Cub feeling that, knowing something's wrong, knowing the vex are angrier than usual for the start of a Life Series.

I can see Cub confronting Grian after week 2 or 3 when he's absolutely 100% certain that something is up with Scar's magic and Grian needs to stop it.

And Grian probably snaps back at Cub about the Vex. Because while Scar's losing vex magic, Grian's gaining some with the soulbinding. Because Scar's soul IS a vex soul, shared with Cub, and that's what turned him into a vexling. And Grian doesn't like feeling a growing urge to be chaotic or, or the vague sense of whether the vex are happy or, most of the series, furious at him.

After the life series, the double life bonds didn't disappear completely. Some pairs still felt a pull to be with each other (Ranchers, Boat boys), some still felt the vague echoes of eachother's pain.

And Grian and Scar kept some little bit of that corruption from each other's magic. The Watchers were aware of Scar, even more than before, as a threat, eventually leading to him being trapped after Secret Life. Grian still felt that pull towards the vex, including a woodland mansion in Limited Life and living in it, and the choice of a giant, glowing white smile on quiz-bot's face.

Even Cub still kept soulbound to Grian a little. Grian messing around with the sculk led to its interest in Cub as a target, choosing him as the one Shubble sent into the Evermore where he got possessed.

This is when she was in the void after she died. I also mixed her design with her storm witch design bc ??? Her hair turns white in the void so let’s just say that’s when she got the will to want to do storm magic.

I absolutely loved Pix's Empires s2 finale, he tied together so many season 1 empires with season 2's empires. My favorite being the fact that Tumbletown is made up of armor stands that were imbued with life by S1 Joel :)
