I haven’t used emoji spells often, but when I have, I have used them for something quick and simple. I believe in them the same way I believe in any kind of spell. As long as it has the intent behind it, I see nothing wrong with using them, whatsoever! They are just as valid as any other spell, just using technology to lean into a magical space! I’m all for it! ✨🔮✨

@mydarlingathena. vomit emoji. first outfit is more for the roommate arc, second is for her current "normal" arc. she's a vampire sim, because she sucks!!!!!! i don't imagine her hair as white, but rather black with white streaks or roots. one, because i think it looks cooler, and two because symbolism or whatever. something about how she can never have "pure" white hair while still clinging onto her dark desires. wants the benefits of having white hair without the commitment. idk man this is a sim

hii @sarasometimes. i made her sim an alien because it was the closest occult type to bugs i could get. also the alien occult allows you to make a sim purple and i feel like sara would be down to be purple if she had the option, but maybe only sometimes. first fit i was trying to match the vibes of that one dollmaker pic she did to represent herself (i didn't have a good hat to go with it unforchies). second fit was just for fun. a second option for when Sara Sometimes might not want to be purple

@alexander-thornton. he was a werewolf but died becuz of poison lol. i used my awesome sims god powers to bring him back to life with the sole purpose of showing the beast form fit. i gave him this fit specifically because it had dirt on it and i imagine he had rolled around in quite a bit of that before dying

@consciousgordiacea! i struggled a lot with gordon for worm-related reasons. for similar reasons as sara, i opted to make gordon an alien (the reason being purple). this sim def needs work still but that's gordon! ignore that eggplant thing in the corner. i don't know what that is.

@chronicallychthonic! i spent so much time trying to make the face semi-match the self portrait emily had posted recently. i think for the restrictions the sims 4 gives me i did pretty decent. i made emily a spellcaster

I also have a sim for Mavis however comma I do not think that he looks very good right now. I think I will wait to get a better idea of what he looks like canonically before sharing

Appearance: 5'5", broad shouldered with a somewhat wolfish appearance. Works out, but wouldn't say no to a cookie kind of physique. His hands and feet are oversized and a bit paw-like. He has hip-length, greying black hair that he keeps braided - usually in two simple plaits but he does love a fancy set of braids when time allows. His skin is a dusty gold-grey, as if undeath has left an actual tarnish behind.

His face is wedge-shaped, with high cheekbones, square jaw, and a slightly large nose crooked from catching one too many right hooks. Eyes are sharp, with small pupils and colored a bright blue-green - like the afterglow of a lightning strike - that reflect eerily in darkness or low light. Heavy, sharp eyebrows give him a somewhat cynical, predatory look that gets enhanced by his easy grin - he's not shy about showing off his fangs. He has one large deep scar bisecting his right eyebrow that sadly doesn't have a cool origin - a clay pot fell on him when he was trying to get it off a tall shelf. Otherwise he bears a few cut marks on his arms and legs from skirmishes, a deeper set of clawmarks over his ribs from a bad run-in with a wolverine, and the scars from affirming surgery. Finally, the fatal gutwound from his 'death', and the subsequent chest scar from Areelu's botched experiment.

Generally he gives off the air of a wolf desperately trying to domesticate itself, or a half-feral stray hunting dog. Real freak on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere energy. In the kindest of terms he can be described as unsettling but beautiful.

He favors jade, carnelian, and silver accessories when he can get them, and has simple bar earrings in each ear that he can't quite recall ever getting. (They're tracker tags from Areelu on account of his habit of fucking off in a random direction and getting stuck or lost somewhere upsetting.) He has issues with the joints in his hands being hypermobile that he corrects with silver splint rings. He favors primarily black outfits with pops of bright color, and minimal armor to avoid any issues with spellcasting. He has long debated the merits of getting a tongue piercing but hasn't decided whether to commit yet. He has a tattoo around his left leg of reindeer stones, and plans on getting more but isn't sure on the designs yet.

Personality: Zell by nature is an exuberant, friendly, genuinely loving person who has learned the hard way to be extremely reseved with his trust and care. He affects an easygoing, relaxed demeanor that covers an anxious intensity soaked by deep, deep rage that is difficult to percieve until that switch flips. He leans on his innate charisma as social currency, is something of a barfly and enjoys sneaking himself into events by claiming to be 'with the band.' He especially loves crashing weddings and birthdays in this manner. Is generally known as The Guy to go to if you need something delivered, furniture moved, wood chopped, or defensive horseback riding lessons. Sometimes given to bouts of deep introspection, he has something he's searching for or working towards that drives him obsessively. Suffers from chronic joint pain and light-induced migraines, dyslexia, and severe abandonment issues. Runs hot, therefore gets heat exhausted easily.

Archetypes: Ringleader, Bon Vivant, Ambitious Sorcerer, Seeker.

Merits: Kind, supportive, loyal, gentle.

Flaws: Bloodthirsty, capricious, self-destructive, deceptive.

🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?

Yes, Erudite keeps a lot of stuff from his childhood! Of course he has all of his books and writings from when he was a budding spellcaster, including a whole filing cabinet full of his correspondences with Starswirl the Bearded. All stuff he would want included in a museum exhibit about him if his legacy should endure that long. His mommies and dear teacher assure him that it will. Plus it's motivation for him to keep going for bigger and better so he can add to that collection.

Beyond that, though, hidden in the back of a closet is a box of comic books, costumes, and toys from before he was Starswirl's student. Back when he dreamt not of being a spellcaster but of being a superhero flying around and saving the day with his buddy by his side...who he doesn't see much nowadays. Eru would never admit how much he misses those days, how much he thinks about the contents of that box even though he tries not to look through it too often. It may just be kiddie stuff to most, but losing those mementoes would be just as devastating as losing his library of spells, if not more. You could technically replace those things but you couldn't replace the hoofprints that touched them.

🎈 (balloon) - What does your character do at parties? Are they a wallflower or a party animal? Do they go with friends or alone?

It's interesting actually - Rakha has only really been to one party thus far in her life (the tiefling party), but she's also about to go to her second this very evening (epilogue party)! And I feel like there is a pretty significant distinction between how she behaved at the one vs how she will behave at the other which is kind of representative of how she's grown overall.

At the tiefling party she kept herself VERY isolated. She spent most of the time with Wyll because she had started to feel more comfortable and safe with him - he'd started answering her questions and supporting her, etc. And she did wander around a little to talk to her other companions. But overall she mostly kept to herself and just sort of watched everything unfold, and worried a lot about accidentally killing one of the guests the way she'd killed Alfira.

But now, going to the epilogue party, everything is way different. Not only did she shed Bhaal's influence and defeat the brain, but six more months have passed which she has spent learning about herself and how to interact with people in more normal circumstances.

I think it would be a stretch to say she feels confident in social situations at this point, and I think she's always going to be rather stiff and cautious and noncommittal. But she is not going to spend the party hiding and keeping to the fringes in the same way.

🐞 (ladybug) - What does a perfect day look like for your oc? What do they do? Who do they see?

It's a recurring theme, but these days the only thing Rakha really wants is something peaceful. A quiet day spent with time to think, to observe, to learn about the world and understand it a little better. No fighting, no battles.

Honestly, I think the nymph at Sharess's Caress wasn't really very far off the mark with her "moment of ecstasy", poetic as it was:

“You are sane. Time dances on in sequence. The winding path of time evens and becomes straight. With a quiet head, you can once again hear the song of the birds and the wind in the grass. You pluck a flower, and it does not bleed.”

🧣(scarf) - What comforts your oc? Is it an item? An action? A person? Whatever it is, how any why does it comfort them?

Wyll comforts her, certainly. More generally speaking, I think the wider point would be that she is comforted by answers; Wyll was her first and most nonjudgmental source of answers, and would tell her anything she wanted to know to the best of his ability. There is so much, even now at the end of the game, that she doesn't know about the world and wants to, and in moments of tension and confusion, she has always most focused on grounding herself by putting together all the facts of the situation until it makes coherent sense.

🎒 (backpack) - What items does your oc usually carry? Do they have a bag or just keep everything in their pockets? Do they carry a lot or a little?

For most of the game, Rakha has tended to carry two staves (mostly used for spellcasting but sometimes simply for hitting people in the face with) strapped to her back, along with Alfira's lute. She also has a knife that she definitely carries because it kept making appearances in Durge-related cutscenes; to be honest, I don't know why no one ever took it away from her, but I tend to think she was carrying it on her when she came out of the nautiloid pod and just kept it afterwards.

With the brain battle finally being over, along with her bloody Bhaalist compulsions, I think she sheds the knife and the staves. But she does keep the lute, and has gotten somewhat more accomplished with it in the six months since the endgame.

SNAFU: There's just this really cool "spellthing"- a being made out of a bunch of spells that acts similarily to a person, but internally... who the fuck knows how it works :3

Space, magic, and crime(-ish)! (4/5)

This short entry combines my favourite things: wizards, space, and crime(-ish). Following Castillo and Daffodil through their little adventure (though it seems like you might be playing as Daffodil), with the goal of removing a curse casted by Daffodil's ex, you must participate in a little heist to gather enough gold.

As with every heist, things go wrong and flight must happen to save your behind. Being a wizard, you can cast some spells to thwart the guards and escape! Choose the wrong ones and… : / I didn't have that issue, picking all the good ones from the get go, and finding the sweetest ending!

As for the spellcasting mechanic, the game provides you with different level of difficulty: a description of the spell, only the emojis representing the spell, or both - with the middle option being the hardcore one. A spellcasing book explaining each spell is also available for download. And the mechanic is very charming, especially with the emoji chosen to represent the spell itself. I would be so down playing an extended version (maybe even with the same characters) with even more spells and shenanigans!

Being part of the ShuffleComp, the entry was based on the song Charlemagne by Blossoms, whose vibes were very much anchored in the game (with the break up/hurt vibe, the magic from the video). The entry also included lyrics of the song between scenes, forewarning the next snippet.

It was very sweet and charming, with the right amount of tension at the right spot.
