monthly reset

hi everyone! since it’s the end of the month, i thought i’d tell you what i do at the end of every month, to prepare for the new month :)

brain dump tasks for the month ahead

this includes any events I have, such as a party, someone's birthday, important deadlines or exam dates, as well as the revision I want to get done in the month.

organise my calendar

i use multiple calendars to keep myself organised. first, i use ical and a physical calendar for birthdays and parties/events. then I use google calendar to time block my week out, adding in when I'm at school, my morning routine, study sessions, workout sessions and my free time. to organise my revision, I have a separate monthly study planner from emmastudies.com that I fill out. i have this above my desk on my corkboard, which helps me to know what revision I have to do on any given day.

set goals

to do this i look at my yearly goals (which i have on my yearly notion page), and then i decide how my yearly goal can be broken down into an achievable yet challenging monthly goal. for example, one of my yearly goals this year is to learn german, so one of my recurring monthly goals is to do german on duolingo daily. as I'm doing my a levels this year, my german study isn't too intensive, but once I've sat my exams in the summer I'll increase how much I study german.

tidy my environment

to bring in the new month it's super important to have a clean and tidy environment. for me, this means clearing any clutter off my desk, vacuuming my bedroom, cleaning my windows, windowsill, mirror and makeup brushes. i also like to tidy my clothes shelves and make sure everything is folded nicely, as well as my underwear and socks in my drawers. don't forget to change your bedsheets as well!

self-care

my favourite thing to do is have an everything shower and do my skincare routine, so I can get into my nice fresh bed all clean :) I also love to go to bed a little bit earlier than I usually do, and read for a little while before going to sleep.

paper vs computer notes!

heyoo! so i see a lot of people on studyblr saying “written notes are better” and “it’s scientifically proven that you remember more when you write” and while those claims are true in most situations, life has way too many variables to be that black and white. personally from my experience, i use both and i can tell you that i remember things just fine and i use computer notes a majority of the time. but writing does help me remember some things so let’s look more closely at the specs for both:

Any advice on how to start a studyblr?

(trust me. i know this from 1L law life). create good study habits and time management first, and use studyblr as a supplementary tool to refine systems you already have in place. which brings me to my second point: 2. it really helps to see what other studyblrs have in terms of study resources and tips first. i think that’s one of the most valuable things you can take away from studyblr! when i was really lost and inexperienced, i looked at how other people worked through their personal and school problems, and i found my own way of doing things.  it’s okay to be a lurker at first and reblog reference (make a tag for it) because when you feel lost, you have your own pool of self-curated advice. you’re looking at other content and materials not to necessarily copy what people are doing and posting, but to integrate what they’ve learned into how you prefer to study and organize. 3, but do not compare yourself to others. i know it gets overwhelming to compare yourself to the seemingly perfect and beautiful things people have on here. when i was starting out, i was really sad that i didn’t know how to make beautiful bullet journals, and study in really fancy places, and have buckets of mildliners, and effortlessly get good grades. we only look at others to learn from them, but their experiences and lives are not, and never will be, ours. your life is your own, and you will become much more happy and productive when you accept what you have and what you can do as it is.  ACTUALLY RUNNING A STUDYBLR: SEVERAL TIPS  1. consider why you actually want one, and plan how you want to use it to achieve your goals. i started mine during thesis semester, and wanted to use the studyblr to stay accountable! 2. buying fancy things will not make you productive. you buy nice school things not to post for the aesthetic hashtag studygram shot, but because it genuinely makes your life easier and makes studying more comfortable.  3. follow people whom you admire and follow people with the same interests/course. it helps when you see that people are doing the same things you’re doing, and going through the same version of academic hell that you are. (jk). but seriously, the beauty of studyblr is in the community of people who love learning. reach out to them, and they’ll reach out to you. (and that becomes followers and mutuals!) 4. be nice. care about other people. care about social issues and current events. what you’re studying only matters if you’re a decent person, and knowledge does not exist within an isolated, academic bubble. 5. tagging. tag. know your studyblr tags. take note of ones that match your posts, and use them so that your posts can reach a lot of people. 6. TAKE PHOTOS IN NATURAL LIGHTING. IT ALWAYS LOOKS BETTER. find your own photography style, and the best way to represent how your study sessions actually go. be yourself and don’t feel like you have to “live an aesthetic”.  7. share the things you’re studying. share the things you’ve learned in relation to studying and productivity. others need those lessons too, and your wisdom and experience is something that will help somebody else. the priority here is learning, and inspiring other students to do the same. if you’ve learned something, pass it on.  8. always, ALWAYS focus on getting your schoolwork done and on fixing what you need to do versus spending time planning and making fancy notes and forming new systems and habits. organization and posting on studyblr are productive. but in the end, we’re all here to finish our homework and get our degrees. if that means staying off studyblr in the meantime, do that first. make a queue if you have to.  i hope that helps! i know this is a bit messy, but this is generally what i think i’ve come to realize over the 2~ years of running my studyblr. do message me if you have more specific questions, and i’ll try my best to help. -- sam <3

Olá, como vão todos? Para mudar um pouco nossa programação decidi começar algo novo, um desafio que se chama "100 DIAS DE PRODUTIVIDADE".

Ele acontece já há anos, porem só nesse ano fiquei sabendo sobre ele. Aparentemente, ele serve para qualquer tipo de atividade; desde organização de ambientes a crochê e aprender um novo idioma. E como somos uma comunidade de escrita, achei interessante começar e ver até onde eu chego. O melhor de tudo é saber que existe um site dedicado somente a desafios, como o de produtividade.

Porque fazer esse desafio?

Se manter motivado;

Ser produtivo;

Para quem quiser uma forma de se manter produtivo por um certo período (100 dias).

Bailed computer science class bc apparently the professor doesn't make real lectures so it would've been a waste of time lmao. Spent the day doing chores around the house and found some cute printables for my studying and my planner!! credits below uwu

I started seriously studying korean again, as you can see my handwriting is shit on the first rows but it becomes more decent as I practice .

The first rows are from posts I found here on tumblr, then there are some bts lyrics and then in italian some sentences i found in my korean book 🌹 I'm going to practice some more and then I'll go to work yay

An update!

Hope you're all doing well! I wanted to share some changes about my blog!

As some of you know, this blog has been having some issues. I believe all of these were caused by using a custom domain (e.g. the .com part). It's given me problems editing my blog, reblogging, deleting, etc. Instead of seeing those icons, I'd see only "follow" or "sign up". I assume this was happening to everyone who visited the website too. My blog wouldn't show up in search either. I have also consistently had messages about Tumblrs redirecting system not working and people not being able to access my printables/downloads. For these reasons (and the blog being deleted twice in the past few months without warning), I've decided to revert back to http://emmastudies.tumblr.com. This should hopefully fix these key problems!

I have now moved the domain (emmastudies.com) to point towards http://emmastudies.gumroad.com. Whilst everything on my blog shall remain there (freebies, links, wallpapers, etc), I am going to start uploading my freebies to Gumroad additionally. It has a built-in review system, directory for anything you've downloaded in the past, options to donate, etc. It seems a great secondary spot to be posting my freebies!

To summarise, everything on my blog is the same and still available (will continue to be). It is just .tumblr is back in the URL!

If you've wondered where the blog has been for the last couple days, that is the case! I really appreciate all the support you've given me, any time you've looked at my Tumblr and all that jazz! :-)

How I organise my TIME ⌚?

I use the monocromo® binder from PIGNA. My binder have got 4 clips. I prefer binders like that bc  my papers 📄 are “not moving”. I printed calendar 📅 from EMMASTUDIES.COM (thank you @emmastudies, you make my life easier) and I also printed another calendar 📆 where you can write your events (WWW.FOREGINROOFTOPS .COM) That’s how I “remember” everything. I use checkered paper and colorful sticky notes. I hope I helped you to be organised
