Not A Bad Cat (short story)
Gorseheart halted mid-groom, his tongue just barely brushing the hairs of his mate’s neck. “Froststorm?” he called, alarmed, at the distant figure running towards them.
Emberdawn opened her eyes and, within a heartbeat of seeing her daughter’s expression, shot to her paws and ran to meet her. “What’s happening?” she asked while Froststorm gasped for breath. “Where’s Molechive and Lightswan? I thought you were with them.”
Froststorm’s chest heaved. “They…stayed back…I ran….I had to get…you have to…”
Gorseheart ran his tail along her side. “Breathe, honey.” Dread filled the pit of his stomach like rocks. What was happening? Why did Froststorm have to run to them?
“We didn’t know what to do, but you do,” Froststorm explained unhelpfully.
“Know what?” Emberdawn pressed.
“There’s…there’s a kit…”
—-
Gorseheart and Emberdawn followed quickly after Froststorm after she took a few more moments to rest. As they moved, Gorseheart felt anger guide his storming paws, claws gripping the earth wherever they landed. Another kit. Another kit rejected by StarClan! Didn’t they understand how dangerous it was here? Didn’t they understand they were sending kits to a potential second death? For what? Because they were too young to fully grasp their actions?
“Here,” Froststorm told them, slowing.
Ahead of them, Lightswan seemed to be standing guard, glaring at the surrounding shadows.
Molechive lay crouched, eyes wide and uncertain at what Gorseheart had first assumed to be a dark patch of ground. Then he realized that it was a kitten–a small one.
Both sagged their shoulders in relief when they saw Gorseheart and Emberdawn.
Gorseheart’s heart twisted–this kit was the youngest yet.
The kit had dark grey fur and a white throat. He shivered heavily, though from fear or the cold of this forest, he wasn’t sure. He would think both, but the way the kit was pressing against Molechive’s shoulders had him thinking otherwise.
Emberdawn leaned and whispered into his ear. “He’s too young to even understand that he should be scared.” She echoed his own thoughts.
Sure, the kit appeared wary and looked at the cats with confusion and disquietness. But that was because these were strangers in a strange land. If this little tom really knew where he was, really understood it, he would have run and hid at the first sight of another cat, and he would be trembling so strongly that Gorseheart would be seeing two of him.
Gorseheart lowered onto his belly and crept closer, keeping a comfortable distance for the tom. “Hello, little one. My name is Gorseheart. What’s your name?”
“Ashkit,” the kit answered, staring at him with green eyes as wide as the moon on a Gathering night.
“Hi Ashkit,” Emberdawn greeted from her place lying beside Gorseheart. “Do you know where you are?”
Ashkit let out what sounded like a whimper. “Somewhere bad. I did bad.”
Emberdawn let out a gentle hum. “We all do bad,” she reassured him. “No one is perfect.”
Ashkit shook his head. “I think I hurt my friends,” he wailed.
That made the family pause for a few moments as they processed that this little kit could have hurt someone, and a little more as they debated how to respond.
“Do you feel bad about it?” Gorseheart asked.
Ashkit nodded vigorously.
“Then you’re not a bad cat,” he told the little one simply. “Because bad cats don’t feel bad when they hurt someone, okay?”
Throughout their talking, Gorseheart had slowly crept closer and closer towards the kit. Now he stretched a paw, half-expecting the kit to flinch away as he brushed it testingly against his side. When Ashkit showed no sign of wanting to get away or wanting Gorseheart to leave, Gorseheart moved closer until the kit sat between his front paws. “So you’re a good cat, you just made a mistake.”
“I made mistakes,” Molehchive chimed in quickly, watching the kit.
Gorseheart purred, proud of how fast Molechive jumped in to reassure the kit as well.
“I made mistakes,” Froststorm added.
Lightswan and Emberdawn followed suit with their own admissions.
“I hurt my friends, too,” Gorseheart went on. His heart twisted, and tore a little more when Ashkit looked up at him with those eyes that were so curious and sad and innocent all at once. “And I feel really bad about it.”
Emberdawn pressed against his side.
“Do you think I’m a bad cat?” he asked the kit.
Ashkit blinked, then shook his head.
“Well, I don’t think you’re a bad cat either.” He let the words hang for several long, long heartbeats before deciding to humour the kit. “But you are stinky!”
Ashkit giggled, caught off guard. “I’m not stinky!” he protested.
Gorseheart sniffed his fur. “I think you are,” he replied, “very, very stinky!”
Ashkit batted at his snout.
“I think it’s you!” Emberdawn decided. She made a show of pressing her nose against Gorseheart’s shoulder and taking a long, hard sniff. Then she pulled her head back dramatically, wrinkling her muzzle. “It is you! You’re the stinky cat!”
Ashkit giggled harder, little teeth glinting in the red light.
Froststorm joined in. “You need a bath!”
“A big one!” Lightswan added, holding a paw up to stifle her laughter.
“Hey! Why am I being ganged up on?”
“Because you smell,” Emberdawn answered.
“Well, can’t argue with that,” Gorseheart sighed. “Hey, Ashkit, do you want to come with us to our warm den and help me get all this stink off?” He added, whispering in the kit’s ear, “or help me hide from everyone who wants to give me a bath–ew!”
Ashkit nodded, grinning so wide that his mouth practically touched both ears.
“I can carry you, if you like,” Lightswan offered.
Ashkit paused, thinking with very readable expressions, then ran over to her.
“Do you want to share my nest?” Molechive offered, following beside them. “It’s got the comfiest moss.”
“Well, my den is the warmest,” Froststorm contested.
“I’ll teach you all the cool moves!”
Emberdawn and Gorseheart followed behind their kits, purring so hard that their bodies shook. Anger still swelled deep within Gorseheart’s chest. It had been there since they found Lightswan–then Brokenkit–and he was sure it would be there forever. But as he watched and listened as their kits welcomed and supported who would hopefully be the new addition of their family, he was overcome by immense pride.
================
--Since Lightswan, Molechive, and Froststorm were all adults by the time Ashmint joined as a two-moon old kit, they were all very welcoming towards him. It's a mix of "I know what it was like to show up here as a kit" and "I want to be the coolest big bro/sis."
--The siblings were hanging out when by chance they found this kit and pretty much all went "UH UH UH WHAT DO WE DO UH....GET MOM AND DAD THIS IS THEIR EXPERTISE."
--Gorseheart would want it to be known that he does not actually stink.....no more than any other resident.
--
Ashmint belongs to @ambitiousauthor
Molechive and Froststorm belong to @wills-woodland-warriors
Lightswan belongs to @liberhoe
I was originally gonna have Light be the one getting them, but wanted to give Frost some love. Plus something tells me Light wouldn't want to leave the kit.

How Long (short story, part 2)
“There’s no way she hasn’t figured it out yet,” Emberdawn’s eyes bulged in frustration. Her guessed time was up.
“Are we sure she’s not messing with them?” Cloverfox checked.
“As sure as we can be,” Avery answered.
Word of the she-cat that was flirting with Alderstar every time she saw him spread, as did the betting pool of when she would finally notice that Myrtlewing, by his side, was not just Alderstar’s good friend.
Speaking of Myrtlewing, his head turned to the bush the group was hiding in. “I’m gonna collect some herbs,” he told Alderstar before heading to the rotting leaves. The cats watching could hear a faint “don’t leave me,” whispered from Alderstar.
Ducking down, Myrtlewing shuffled part-way into the holly.
Cloverfox held her breath, half-expecting him to lash out. She knew him well, but not well enough for him to be unwilling to hurt her, and the blackness of his eyes–and the meaning behind them–were not lost on her.
But Myrtlewing didn’t appear upset. In fact, he seemed to be stifling a chuckle. “So you lot see what’s happening.”
“Uh..yeah,” Avery began.
“We can tell her–”
“No!” Crowsage cut in. Myrtlewing looked at her curiously, and she added, “we’re..uhm–we want to see how long it’ll last.”
“Ah, betting, then?”
“Myrtlewing, hurry up and get back here!” Alderstar snapped back where the she-cat was weaving around him.
“Oh, your fur’s so clean and soft! How long does it take to groom?”
“Ask Myrtlewing,” Alderstar grumbled.
“Oh, that’s so nice of him!”
Myrtlewing glanced back at the scene. He didn’t seem annoyed, only amused–he had no reason to be jealous, he knew Alderstar’s heart had only room for two–not to mention they had several litters together. “At this rate, there’s no challenge to it. Any suggestions to push our luck?”
==========
So now it went from betting how long it'll last to betting on what finally gets her to realize.

Send me a '★' and I will tell you how my character feels about yours (openly and secretly)
Openly: "Gracious, naturally charming and beautiful, and with a heart of gold. A rare vintage of a woman, the Lady Lioness is dear to many."
Even when the Courier keeps her words mostly to public exposition of what is a popular opinion, it is very clear Safrona is in full agreeance with the majority when it comes to Naralinthe. It is obvious in the Courier's list of clientele she favors, and the genuine laughs Nara pulls from her in her company. Safrona feels this woman is the sun to her shadow, a natural and comforting warmth to bask in.
Secretly: "I will always, be thankful, Nara."
This seemingly simple line of gratitude runs deep, deeper than it does for Safrona regarding most people. Where Nara may have been little more than a delightful contact and opportunity in business when the first batch of champagne was ordered, the fateful night when the Lioness saved her soul in the Challaine Vineyards was an altering moment for the Warlock. She remembers Naralinthe's panic, the tears, and the dear woman pleading for her to return to her Light (though very drunkenly). It was a traumatic moment surely, but it was the first time Safrona had witnessed someone so fiercely and sincerely grieve her, and call her back with the sheer power of their own grace. She had felt very loved in a very pure, unforgettable way in that moment, and she loves Naralinthe in her own quiet way for it. Safrona is not certain she knows how to truly repay that sort of selfless love, but she considers practically being at Naralinthe's beck and call to be a good start.

The Dark Forest Rebel Leaders
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The four leaders of the Miretrees Rebellion, their stories are as varied as their clan origins.
Snowtuft was born in Riverclan during the reign of Willowstar. He was a loyal Warrior, if overly serious. His downfall was set off when he became obsessed with defeating a rival Skyclan tom, Dribblefur. His obsession became manic when Dribblefur saved some Riverclan kits from a hawk, which overshadowed Snowtuft killing the hawk itself! How DARE HE! So, in the next minor border skirmish, Snowtuft tried to kill Dribblefur - and succeeded in dealing a fatal blow. But only at the cost of his own life...
Silverhawk was a Hunter and Tracker of Windclan. He had been found as a kit on the border, and was mates with the Brawler Emberdawn. Their son, Mudpuddle, was Stonestar's loyal Deputy for many years, but Silverhawk became worried - he always felt anxious about his non-clan origins, and had felt so proud of his son for becoming Deputy, but Stonestar was so so old but still thriving, and Mudpuddle was starting to complain of aging joints. These thoughts lead him down a dark and paranoid path mentally. Silverhawk set up a trap - he led Stonestar into an angry dog, but Mudpuddle bravely threw himself in front of the aging leader and was killed. Silverhawk, horrified and furious, charged Stonestar, but was killed by the dog as well...
Sparrowfeather was born to Thunderclan, and apprenticed to Lionstar himself. She was always a layabout and far too nosy for her own good, and prided herself for knowing secrets from other clans. This lead to her death, as she began selling Thunderclan secrets to Riverclan and Shadowclan for prey, as she hated being a Hunter. This led to a fateful border battle, when a Riverclan cat used her battle move information to get past her defenses and kill her...
Maggottail was born Slickscales of Shadowclan, during the rule of Brindlestar. He was born hairless, and seen as blessed by Starclan in some way. Slickscales used this to his advantage, becoming nearly as influential as Brindlestar. After an argument that led to blows and losing a life, Brindlestar banished Slickscales, and gave him the dishonor title Maggottail. Maggottail would terrorize the local kittypets, stealing their food and attacking them for fun. Eventually, he became so out of shape and unhealthy that his heart gave out...
These four fell into the Mire. These four regretted their actions. These four met a starry visitor who changed everything. And they became the first four who would visit the conflicted living in their dreams, to keep them on the right path. But first, they would speak to those they hurt the most...
Snowtuft was able to apologize to Dribblefur, who was remembered in Riverclan histories for saving a future leader. They parted ways after quite a while, with Dribblefur's well wishes and sincere hopes echoing in Snowtuft's ears. They could have been friends once, and maybe they could be friends again, for Dribblefur was amazingly forgiving.
Silverhawk was reunited with his mate and son. They embraced him lovingly and tearily, and Emberdawn vowed to wait for him. Stonefur accepted his sincere apology, and charged Silverhawk with becoming a better cat. Mudpuddle wove a new feather, fresh from Starclan, to help remind him of the cat he once was.
Sparrowfeather was confronted by Lionstar, who shamed her for her actions. How many cats had died for her actions? How many cats had gone hungry? Lionstar left sputtering in rage and commanding the cats he had guided to never speak to her, but Sparrowfeather's siblings Finchwing and Lichenfoot stayed to speak to her. Their faith in Sparrowfeather's ability to change gave her hope that she could truly change.
Maggottail watched Brindlestar saunter towards him, and laid himself out to beg forgiveness. Brindlestar stared as he spoke, and after a long pause, snorted and called Maggottail as dramatic as ever. She forgave him, on the condition that he be just as dramatic keeping the living from falling like he did.

Bonefall RiverClan Family Tree: Draft 1.2
Subtitle: The whole hog. It's EVERYTHING folks. I did it all the way back up to Darkstar's Commandment. Nearly 8 generations of cats. This has taken several days and meticulous work and I DID IT.
Tumblr media
[Update 1.2: Swapped the birthing parent between Sedgecreek and Greenflower to Sedgecreek with the honor sire being Duckfur, made a note of Harelight being an honor title.]
Caveats as usual:
Check out my Info for Family Tree Reworks, including my 3 Strict Rules and general guidelines.
This tree is still subject to change, especially for modern RiverClan.
I made some doodles this time lmao I hope you enjoy them
If you want to check out my diagnosis and see the canon family tree, it's over here!
Under the cut: Renamings, removals, and changelog
RENAMINGS: Format: Old Name (Origin) -> New Name (Reason)
Molewhisker (CotC) -> Moletooth (conflict)
Snaketooth (CotC) -> Snakestream (conflict)
Oatpaw (CotC) -> Oatbelly (save)
Sloefur (FQ) -> Sloefall (conflict)
Perchpaw (MV) -> Perchshine (save)
Magpie (CP) -> Magpiesky (repurposed)
Swankit (TPB) -> Swansong (save)
Copperpaw (Po3) -> Copperwing (save)
Wavepaw (AVoS) -> Waveshine (save)
Shimmerpelt (BS) -> Shimmerbright (conflict)
Shadepelt (AVoS) -> Shademuzzle (conflict)
Mintfur (Po3) -> Mintflower (conflict)
Rushtail (OotS) -> Rushfish (conflict)
Carpkit (Missing Kits) -> Carpwhisker (save)
Bluefur (the one and only) -> Bluemoon (better)
Emberdawn (LH) -> Emberdusk (conflict)
Duckkit (Missing Kits) -> Duckfur (save)
Dragonflykit (Missing Kits) -> Dragonclaw (save)
Heronwing (AVoS) -> Heronflight (conflict)
REMOVALS: These may be shuffled to another litter at a later time, but for now, are effectively cut.
Grasspelt, because I would like Grasswhisker to be an old lady who was friends with Briarlight.
Nightsky and Breezeheart are currently dead as kits to further torment Icewing about losing Beetlewhisker in the Dark Forest. Like StarClan's mad at her.
Robinwing had a conflict name anyway so I just killed them as an apprentice because I want more young deaths.
Lizardtail. Being effectively replaced by Hollowflight, but may have been Hollow's original name before earning an honor title. (the honor title is for betraying the dark forest and running a marathon across the lake to fetch help during the Great Battle-- the name would become Hallowflight.)
The drowned kits of Mosspelt and Frogleap, Robinkit and Woodkit, are gone. I may use them at some point.
Pikepaw from Battles of the Clans. Holding onto them in case they're needed.
Gorseclaw. It is more tragic for Harelight to be the only surviving sibling, plus there was a name conflict anyway.
I completely missed the following cats and it's the only reason they weren't used, and I'm making a note of them here for my own reference should I ever need them;
COTC: Brindleclaw, Graywing, Foxwhisker, Foxclaw, Hayberry and kits Minnowkit and Wildkit, Sunspots, Fernleaf, Blackbee, Kinktail
Lightningpaw and Lilyflower gave Crookedstar a life
THERE WILL PROBABLY BE MORE.
CHANGELOG: I tell you why I did the things
Code and the Clans and Darkstar's Commandment
There's a lot of weird quirks around Code of the Clans, namely that there are two Darkstars associated with two different commandments in two different Clans. If that weren't weird enough, one of those Darkstars is very similar to the MAPLESHADE'S VENGEANCE Darkstar, but these are canonically three different people???
In my rewrite, no lol there's Darkstar of RiverClan, known for Darkstar's Commandment/The Queen's Rights, and Dalestar who created the "don't question your leader" commandment in response to Ripplestar's Rot.
I also snatched a bunch of the cats out of the CotC story to explain the confusion!
Aspentail (the magic spirit who assists the battle) was Darkstar's sister, and Perchpaw's mother. She is going to have a small but emotionally important role as part of StarClan in Darkstar's Commandment.
Splashheart was Perchpaw's father, and Splashfoot was named after him.
Moletooth, Nettlepad, Lightningpelt, Oatberry, and Meadowpelt are all repurposed from another CotC story, conflict-renamed when necessary.
I was going to allow Darkstar's lineage to peter out since Perchshine is going to go live at the barn, but Mudthorn had a mate slot open and I had a stroke of whimsy realizing I could have a kitten join RiverClan from the barn.
Magpiesky is Magpie from Crookedstar's Promise, now a sibling of Fleck and Mitzi instead of a child of Mitzi.
"Magsky" is now the one who brings young Stormpaw to the barn; Domino was her mother but she tries not to talk about her outsider heritage too much because... Clan Culture, y'know.
She was able to join because Volestar was gracious, citing her Darkstar blood.
Appledusk and Reedshine's children, only named in authorial statements, have been broken up and reworked. Willownose and Shyheart belong to other cats and only Applefrost remains; Duskwater has been made into an AppleReed kitten.
I really like how it's two kits, named for both parts of Appledusk.
Duskwater's mate Oatbelly was a victim of Mapleshade.
Rainflower is now the Appledusk descendant, not Shellheart. Her mom was killed in the same storm she gave birth in.
Greenflower
Greenflower's sibling was Duckfur, previously a Missing Kit described as her dead child. Needed more fodder.
I am probably going to make her mother Dragonflykit, the other Missing Kit described as a dead child. I need a good name though. Dragonflyclaw? I kinda want to drop the 'fly' suffix and make the name Dragonclaw because that's cool as hell
MAN what if Clan Culture has a concept of 'dragons' but it's actually a large dragonfly that flies like a hawk, bites like a snake, and swims like a pike...
1.1 UPDATE: Added Dragonclaw as Whitefang's mate and Greenflower's mother.
Greenflower and Sedgecreek were not capable of having biokittens, Duckfur was the honor-sire and Sedgecreek gave birth to the kits.
Greenflower loudly announces this during TigerClan to display their loyalty to the Code, Sedgecreek feels extremely uncomfortable having their personal information aired like that.
Swallowtail fell in love with Rainwhisker on the Great Journey, and became pregnant shortly before his death in the WindClan Rebellion!
The kits are Rainstorm and Rippletail.
Swallow named a son after her forbidden mate. It was BOLD, because Rainstorm is practically Rainwhisker's reflection.
Sedgecreek tries to forgive Greenflower and make amends, but Greenflower turning on their daughter Swallowtail when Ripple and Rain were born was the last straw.
Mudfur and Brightsky
I needed Mudfur's genes because as you can see things get pretty tight, since there's less named characters the further back you go
Say hello to Carpwhisker! She's a sweetheart. Previously a Missing Kit, I picked her over Waterkit or Oatkit.
Voletooth is named after their famous ancestor.
Volestar actually gave the family their spots, and they are all quite large like she was.
Brightsky is not actually dead. She left to become a kittypet, and only Hailstar and Mudfur know this. It was kept secret.
The other two kittens stayed with her.
Sunfish's Bloodline
Frogleap doesn't need kits. Society has progressed past the need for Frogleap kits.
Sunfish's lineage is continued through Grasswhisker. I am fond of Grasswhisker for like no reason. I just think she's Neat.
Her sister Vixenleap actually dies in Mudclaw's Rebellion
Dapplepaw is going to get eaten by a fish in Po3
Grasswhisker can't catch a break and that's how I like it
I made Lakeheart older because I like the idea that she was named after their new home and that effect kinda lessens if she isn't one of the first RiverClan births here.
Harelight and Tragedy
Like I mentioned before, Gorseclaw's getting cut completely. It fits Harelight's story a LOT more for him to tragically lose all of his siblings in TBC.
Denied the ability to mourn his sister Softpelt, being forced to bury Dappletuft like a rogue, Harelight is becoming a Light in the Mist next to Misty. He has a bone to pick with the Impostor.
He's kinda becoming a blorbo ngl.
I imagine he's very polite and a bit silly, but more astute than people give him credit for.
Based on ABSOLUTELY nothing he keeps reminding me of Donnel from Fire Emblem. I have NO idea why I keep thinking of him.
Me trying to reference a greek tragedy about simple mourning rights being the ironic downfall of a tyrant but all I can hear in my head is "YEEEEHAW"
Anyway
I am probably going to cut more warriors, too, to make way for some of the more interesting warriors to stick around. No one cares about Brackenpelt.
UPDATE 1.2: Harelight's first name was Harefur! Mistystar likes to 'match' the names of siblings according to a theme; SoftPELT, DappleTUFT, and HareFUR were all hair-related!
Harelight is an honor title because he is now a Light in the Mist, alongside Mistystar herself.
Graymist and Pouncetail, Mallownose and Sneezecloud
In-canon Shadepelt was acting like an elder when she was barely 2 years old. Lol. Lmao, even.
She is the mom of Pouncetail and Graymist now. I think this is a very funny idea. They are very silly as siblings.
Mallow is Pounce's son and Sneeze is Gray's son.
Mallownose and Sneezecloud are no longer siblings; but they are cousins who were really close growing up because they both lost their littermate!
Mallow lost Robin, and Sneeze lost Duck.
I made them more distantly related because I KNOW there's going to be some kind of romantic drama between Frostpaw and Splashtail in-canon and I want that to be less weird.
Sure, they're far enough in-canon to not break my Three Strict Rules, but still, I wanted to fix it really hard in advance.
1.1 UPDATE: Father of Sneeze has been changed from Voletooth to Beechfur. This may change again.
Copperpaw has evolved into Copperwing
He's called Copperwing because I was planning to have him replace Robinwing, and then I ended up using Robinpaw anyway as a kill… but the name remains.
Got hit with sudden inspiration to make him REALLY shiny and I leaned into it. Him and his kits are sparkly even for RiverClan cats, lmao.
Waveshine and Shimmerbright are pretty evocative of that, I hope! I'm glad I was able to use the -bright suffix at least once.
I approached my renamings with Mistystar in mind; I like to think she tries to give cats "thematic" names. For example, Rushfish is named after his dead brother. Heronflight, Perchwing, and Sneezecloud are sky-related. She even gave Lake and Otter the same -heart suffix.
The SwanMoss Family
Swansong, a surviving child of Graypool x Rippleclaw and the adopted brother of Mistyfoot and Stonefur, is replacing Frogleap. SWANSWEEP.
For a LOOONG while I was planning to make Willowshine the oldest child of Dawnflower, but now that I've definitively worked out the specifics of my tree, I can say with confidence that she works best as a Mosspelt kitten.
Because, y'know, unlike canon Mosspelt's mate isn't dead.
I put Troutstream in here because I feel like she looks like Swansong, who looks like Rippleclaw.
I kinda like her as a family outlier, she's a huge jerk... but she is a PRETTY jerk.
I think Mossyfoot was badly influenced, and her death made Trout grow up.
Icewing and Mintflower, Dark Forest 'curse'
Mintfur is now Mintflower because there needs to be more boys with the -flower suffix.
Also he is an ex-tribecat. He had to take refuge in ThunderClan when the Clan got dangerous during Stormfur and Brook's exile, but Mistystar invited him back when she gained power.
I'm killing Icewing and Mintflower's second litter. I think it's a lot more tragic for Icewing to feel like StarClan is punishing her by not letting her have more kittens.
The fact she trained in the Dark Forest and brought her son Beetlewhisker in with her is haunting.
On that note, Petalfur... either needs more to happen with her, or I'm replacing her on the Beaver Quest. Rippletail dies on it, the other RiverClan cat really needs to have some amount of importance in OotS and possibly beyond.
Other things
Havenpelt is an ex-rogue who used to cause problems, but eventually was badly injured and RiverClan took her in for healing.
I am not fond of Lizardtail because he's boring, in spite of having really interesting kids. He is either going to be combined with Hollowflight or axed completely; more DF Trainees need to survive.
If it's an honor title, it's going to become Hallowflight. The title will come because he defects from the Dark Forest Attackers and runs a very long distance to get help/warn the others before collapsing from exhaustion. A sacred marathon of sorts.
Mousewhisker x Minnowtail REAL. Mousewhisker joins RiverClan after TBC, so we'll have to wait for ASC to be completed before I can give any details. But this is set in stone.

Who is remembered as the fiercest Matriarch in each Clan's history and why? Also, which family had the biggest litter that survived, and do they like boasting about it?
After scrutinizing the apprentice's question with a far-off look, Duckflower licks her one dark paw and swipes it over her head. "That first one's a difficult question to answer," she says. "As much as we try to remember, many names get lost in the rivulets of time. I'm sure Swallowwing or Mallowtail would be willing to divulge in the details of how Clan history gets tangled up into our folktales. It's easier to remember that way, strange as it seems."
Not far away, Graypath places a paw on Emberdawn's calico daughter to settle her down with the kitten's drowsy brothers. "Daisybloom, duckling."
"No, no, she's too easy." Duckflower tilts her head to the side. "There's only two—maybe three—that haven't fully gotten into the Mernatha Cycle."
"Three's awfully generous."
"It's not a lot to work with, but it's the best answer I can give."
"I know you're gonna talk about that ThunderClan w—" Graypath notices the calico wasn't quite asleep. "—war maiden. Who's the other one?"
"From the ShadowClan succession crisis."
The gray elder twitches her whiskers. "That lass? She was barely older than you, so the stories say. Brazenly picked a fight with the first fool who stepped up to become leader since the boy had barely trained his own apprentice."
"That's not what Stonefur told me."
"Then what did you hear?"
"He heard from a WindClan cat who had it told from a dog scholar that it was because the fool was so fight-happy he would've led the Clan into pointless battle with their neighbors, which endangered the kittens and apprentices."
"Fah! Birds-on-a-wire rumors and dog scholars! Tell me the tale where Theful courted Suriin with her own water-rotted reflection!" Graypath blinks, then glances down at the kittens around her, finally relaxing a little as all were dead asleep.
Duckflower twitches her whiskers in annoyance, then turns back to the apprentice before her. “The other was a ThunderClan matriarch from years and years ago, way before Graypath’s time. Some rogues were harassing the fuzzballs in a time where they were remarkably unpopular—no thanks to their recently-deceased leader. The matriarch was expecting the new leader’s kittens, yet she lunged herself into a gristly battle that, while it did take care of the rogues, she ended up dying.”
Graypath shakes her head. “Foolish swan, that’s what she was.”
“I was told she did it for good reason,” Mistfoot interjects, trotting out from her nap in the nursery. “The rogues had been bringing stray kittens into battle, and ThunderClan launched the battle to extract the kittens.” She claws the mossy floor of RiverClan camp and yawns as she stretches her spine. “Surely, if rogues were sending out kittens younger than mine and abusing them as soldiers, you as matriarchs would lead a mission to bring them to a better home.”
“Duckling,” Graypath mews. “Don’t do this to me.”
“Mira, I’ll say what I please!”
Duckflower rolls her eyes. “Come on, Grasspaw, let’s let your mentor and her mother bicker it out. Why don’t you go find the kittens some minnows?”

As Stormfur finishes recounting his story to the entire Clan, he can only hope that they’re willing to look at his story as a whole and not just focus on--
“Wait a moment, a talking badger told you that twolegs are going to destroy the forest?”
If Stormfur didn’t strongly believe in kits having a good relationship with their father, then he would strangle Heavystep. Instead he settles for a withering glare and says, “That’s not really the point--”
“Did the badger have a name?”
Even though he knows that Blackclaw is just mocking him, Stormfur answers, “Midnight”.
Blackclaw looks at Leopardstar, offended, and asks, “You expect us to take this nonsense seriously?” Some of his Clanmates pipe up in agreement.
“What about the part where twolegs are going to destroy the forest?” Stormfur demands. “Why is no one concerned about that?”
“Twolegs have always been a pest," Sedgecreek speaks out. "I see no reason to uproot our Clan over twolegs."
Stormfur is grasping at his notes, desperate to sway his Clanmates. "What about... the heat?" He tries, feebly. His Clanmates fall silent.
Skyheart raises a brow, unimpressed, and echos, "The heat? It's green-leaf!"
"The other Clans have reported such intense heat that their streams are drying up--"
"But we have the river," Emberdawn reasons. "The river has never dried up, and besides, once green-leaf is over then the rain will fill the streams up again."
Running out of excuses, Stormfur looks at Hawkfrost and hopes that maybe he'll speak up for him if only because they're (rivals, friends, something in between?), but Hawkfrost is actually too embarrassed to even look at Stormfur right now. Well then, Stormfur won't even bother imploring Mistyfoot, Mothwing or Dawnflower.
"Well, Stormfur," Blackfoot taunts. "Talking badgers, twolegs, and green-leaf heat. What else have you got?"
Stormfur wonders if they would be receptive to Oakheart visited Feathertail in a dream, but decides against it.
— I keep going to the river to pray (flesh and bone, c6)

The Cats of RiverClan: Droughtpaw
Name: Droughtpaw
Meaning: Born in a dry period
Identity: Femflux - She/Her and Xe/Xir
Orientation: Bisexual - Feminine Leaning
Rank: Apprentice - Diplomat
Former Rank(s):
A medium furred tortoiseshell molly with pale yellow eyes, a white locket on her chest and a white muzzle. Droughtpaw’s fur is thick and sleek like a properly bred RiverClan warrior and she’s smugly proud of the way that even rainwater simply slides off of her back, puddling beneath her and leaving her mostly dry. Her whiskers are long and feather with lightly curled ends.
Droughtpaw is fiercely protective of her cousins having grown up in the wake of what happened to her mother’s sister. Despite being younger than them, Droughtpaw feels a sense of responsibility to ensure what happened to Mosspelt never happens to either one of her cousins. Xe eyes the older warriors with great suspension whenever they spend time with her cousins - especially when they spend time with them alone. Xir mother has gently addressed a few times that Droughtpaw isn’t responsible for protecting her cousins - to which Droughtpaw insists that she do it anyway.
Diplomacy has always intrigued her and took the open position when Reedtail noticed her interest in it. Xe are constantly amazed by how much bigger the world feels now that she’s leaning to get along with the loners that lurk near them. Knowing that the three of them are former loners themselves, Droughtpaw consistently pressed Blackear, Panda and Puddleeye about stories from the Rogue Lands and loner beliefs. Privately, Droughtpaw thinks xe likes the idea of the Dusklands more than StarClan.
She’d never say that aloud though.

3, 6, and 8 with tunnel poly for pride ask game pwease :333 (ik that birchflight and foxfire are my ocs but it's always fun to see your interpretations of them!)
3: How did they discover themself (their sexuality)?
Gorseheart always thought that he was straight until he met Fox. It was really confusing for him because he lived until (insert Warriors equivalent of 50-60 years old) and had an afterlife of probably quite some years before Birch and Fox entered the picture, and only then did he feel attraction towards a male.
I wrote a story about it here!
Emberdawn initially thought that she was straight as well. But unlike Gorse, she was attracted to gals, she just...thought it was normal. You know, just admiring their beauty and laughing a little too long at their jokes and wanting to be around them a lot. It wasn't until she got to the Dark Forest, where same-sex couples were common place (more common than in the living Clans) that she had an "oh" moment.
I like to think that Fox bounced back and forth so much because he couldn't decide. *Sees a pretty she-cat* "Oh, I like girls!" *Sees a handsome tom* "Oh I like boys!" *Sees a pretty she-cat* "Oh, I like girls!" *Sees a handsome tom* "Oh I like boys!" *Sees a pretty she-cat* "Oh, I like girls!" *Sees a handsome tom* "Oh I like boys!" Then he found out he could like BOTH and he lost his damn mind.
I also imagine that Birchflight never understood the whole physical of it all. It was personality and how cats acted that made her attracted, their physical appearance (and gender) seemed very trivial, so when cats went on about how handsome or beautiful someone was or how they wanted to become mates with someone who looked good, she didn't get it. She TRIED to. When she found herself liking someone, she tried to focus on their physical traits and their gender, trying to see if it made her feel more attracted. It didn't. She didn't DISLIKE how they looked, it just...wasn't a huge factor in whether or not she liked them. She would make stuff up "I like his chin-fur" to seem more normal. In the DF she realized she is okay the way she is, and doesn't have to pretend for anyone.
6. How does your oc feel about labels? Theirs, or in general?
When Gorse found out about them he was like :O!! He thought it was so so cool!
For simplicity, he identifies as a multi-sexual polyamorous tom (he doesn't know for sure if he's pan, bi, omni, or poly, so he just sticks with the umbrella term [it's likely either omni or poly]).
Emberdawn likes them the same way someone would like a nice new shirt: fun to have and enjoyable to own, but not SO important that she thinks it completely defines her. She has it to have it, but she would be fine without it as well.
She is a bisexual polyamorous she-cat.
Both Fox and Birch like them a lot!! They both had that feeling that they were weird. Fox for not being able to make up his mind and being sure like everyone else seemed to be, and Birch because she couldn't fit in with how others felt. Having labels not only make them feel like they're not wrong, but it reminds them that others are the same way.
[Found on the refs] Both are pansexual polyamorous
EDIT: it's possible that the reason Fox couldn't decide which he liked (prior to finding out he could like both) is because he ALSO preferred personality over gender+appearance but just didn't realize it.
8. Have they had struggles with their identity, be it due to internal or external reasons?
I think I pretty much mentioned it!
Gorse struggled because "wait do I like toms?? Since when???"
Ember struggled because "wait not everyone does that?"
Fox struggled because "I CAN'T CHOOSE"
Birch struggled because "WHY CAN'T I BE NORMAL?"
All heavily internal, but external could have a cause, since no one else seemed to be the same, and Clan culture is very different from DF culture (heteros everywhere). If they had met someone like them a lot sooner, it probably would have helped a great deal.

First Word (short story)
It should have been a happy moment.
It was the moment all parents look forward to and never forget.
Harekit was the first. She was the first of her litter to do everything, to wobble, to open her eyes, to babble, and now, to talk. It had been unexpected, but first words tend to be. Birchflight was resting on her side, purring while the kits tussled clumsily at her belly. Foxfire had been laying, half-asleep with his chin on her shoulder, while Gorseheart groomed Emberdawn’s head-fur.
Harekit then broke apart from her brothers, wobbling clumsily over to Gorseheart and Emberdawn, who smiled warmly down on her. Harekit looked like she wanted to communicate, and they had all expected babble.
Gorseheart’s heart froze.
“Da.”
She had said “Da.”
Everyone cooed, cheering as loud as they could without frightening the kits. Foxfire jerked his head up, ears perked and smiling widely. Birchflight’s pupils dilated, and Emberdawn lowered her chin to the floor to level with Harekit. Harekit was blinking expectantly at Gorseheart, completely unaware that she had done anything worthwhile at all. She only wanted his attention.
Gorseheart loved her, he loved her with all of his heart. But in all the preparation for new kits, he hadn’t been ready for how this moment would make him feel. Without a word, he hurried away, ducking through the tunnel and bounding a couple tail-lengths across the ground before stopping abruptly.
Immediately, he regretted leaving. Harekit must be so confused. He wondered if she was crying now because he had ignored her and left, yet he couldn’t bring himself to go back. Not yet. He needed a little time.
“What was that?” a gentle voice asked. Foxfire padded over to join him.
“I’m sorry,” Gorseheart’s own voice shook. “Is she okay?”
“Perfectly.” His eyes lit up, likely thinking about Harekit’s first word. “You don’t seem to be. They may be small as mice, but you don’t need to be scared when they talk!”
Gorseheart wiped his paw over his nose. “It just reminded me of something, is all.”
Foxfire frowned. “Must be something pretty bad. I’ve never seen someone run away when their kit says their first word. Oh yeah, Webstripe!” He grinned, trying to lighten the mood.
Gorseheart huffed a laugh, appreciating him for it. But he was still unsteady, needing to dig his claws into the ground to keep himself up.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Foxfire offered, laying his tail over Gorseheart’s. Gorseheart thought about it, then shook his head. The time would come to tell Foxfire and Birchflight about Jaykit, but now didn’t feel like the time. He didn’t want to spill his feelings right now, especially not without Emberdawn wanting to talk about it too. He just wanted to suppress it, at least for now, and go back to the kits. Harekit had said a word for the first time. Now was the time to celebrate.
“Come on,” He said, picking a soft, wilting daisy from the ground. “Harekit should get a gift.”
He led the way back into the den, grateful to see Harekit sleeping in Emberdawn’s paws with her brothers, and not crying as he had been expecting, in spite of Foxfire’s reassurances.
“Is everything okay?” Birchflight asked in a mixture of confusion and concern, curled in a ball against Emberdawn’s belly. Emberdawn’s eyes met Gorseheart’s, much more knowing.
“Yeah, just a scare,” Gorseheart told them. Curling between them all, he was grateful when they didn’t say anything more, moving the conversation instead to what they thought Adderkit’s and Larkkit’s first words would be. Gorseheart resolved to react better when that time came, and hoped that he would be better prepared.
===================================
--Reminder that Jaykit died shortly after saying his first word, which was ‘da.’
--Emberdawn is still pregnant at this point, probably close to giving birth.

I cant get over the possibility of having a Silverhawk Novella. (My best guess if it does happen, it might also contain the stories of Snowtuft and possibly another dark forest cat like Maggottail, or a trainee like Antpelt, Redwillow, or the beloved Ivypool.)
My biggest fear is his relation to Mapleshade.
In TBC, Silverhawk clearly lives Emberdawn, even in death. So much he makes a promise in her name. And how he wanted to lift his son in the ranks shows he love his family a lot. I dont doubt the Erins’ will make sure we see that.
But due to Emberdawn’s name, its likely she may turn out to be a tortoiseshell.
I always saw his relationship with Mapleshade as him caring for her, and having a kinship with her due to how much they lived their families (keep in mind im saying this with the idea that Mapleshade will lie to Silverhawk about her backstory so he can view her in the right, and also her view on it was obviously skewed due to her insanity.)
My biggest fear, knowing the Erins, is that they’ll make his motivation to sticking with Mapleshade not be her feels sorry for her and is genuinely lonely, but rather make him in love with her due to her looking similar to Emberdawn.
I’m really hoping that wont be the case, and that he’ll become Mapleshade’s right hand man in the place if no stars because he feels shes the only person he can relate to, and not that he is reminded of his wife every time he looks at her (Which also would be a problem, since there will be an obvious age gap between them. It would make the most sense for Silverhawk to have died long before Mapleshade was ever even born, perhaps during a time when the deputy didnt always become the leader or during a time when the leader could choose the next deputy whenever. It would kind of jumble up the timeline if it was any point after Mapleshade died, since there is quite a small timeframe in between her death and Crookedstar’s birth.)
Silverhawk is such a good character, and I really hope the Erins dont do him dirty.
Yeah I wouldn’t be a fan if he was in love with Mapleshade - but I would adore a novella about him, just focusing on his life and what he did to get to the dark forest
I really want to see a “Tales from the Dark Forest” novella collection featuring Snowtuft, Maggottail and Silverhawk, imagine if they were to drop such a thing near Halloween, and each novella is a backstory as to why each cat found themselves in the dark forest.

Silverhawk purely for a au I had a long time ago that he was important in. He’s so background but I do enjoy the snippets we get from him
Tumblr media
[ID: Silverhawk from Warrior Cats, for the Better Bones AU. He is a gray tabby with a white, striped belly, darker gray legs, and shredded ears. His hat says, "Fish fear me, my wife took the kids in the div-"]
I have a distinct feeling that they're going to follow up on Silverhawk's story in the future, but in the meanwhile, His! Babenfew Owoyrr, as that wonderful Clanmew anon put it.
I headcanon that he's from RiverClan, but at the same time, he has a stereotypical WindClan build. I'm concluding that Silverhawk was stolen as a kitten, and was born in the Late Skyfall Era or Early Ripple Era.
This means that he precedes the Queen's Rights, and was probably a warrior during the events of Ripplestar's Rot.
I will hold off on deciding what the name of his son was, or what leader he tried to assassinate.
BB!Silverhawk's wife's name is Emberdawn, just like canon! She is keeping her name in the Conflict Standoff between her and Mosspelt's sister. THAT one is now called Emberdusk.
Silver's personality is pretty calm and patient. He's not the raging demon cats are expecting from the Dark Forest, but he hates cowardice and weakness.
Silverhawk gets along with just about everyone, except Morningstar and people like him.
It's remarked upon that he's definitely the nicest cat in Thistleclaw's clique, but that's a low bar.
Before you go thinking Silverhawk's a great dude, know that he sympathizes VERY heavily with the cats who followed Thistleclaw into the Dark Forest. He's more than willing to lend his claws to Tigerstar's cause.
Tigerstar's Plan in BB is to overtake the Clans by changing all leadership to DF-supporting cats. Those fighting for him have been promised godhood in a new pantheon.
When Silverhawk is a god, he wants to be a patron of teaching. Of all things.
His design is based on a Common Cuckoo (Cuculus canorus)! Cuckoo birds mimic sparrowhawks to catch them off guard for just long enough to deposit a brood parasite into their nests. Something felt interesting about this, considering his name is Silverhawk.

Do you have a readers guide for where to start reading your fics?
Okay, so. The short answer is to read the Impervious series, because it's in chronological order, and then Of a Feather, because even though it's a soulmate AU, it's mostly what happens. It starts with Twisted Fate.
The longer answer is under the cut.
There is a metric shit ton of little fics that go into the Impervious universe, so I'm gonna list these chronologically.
Impervious Canon
Shadowlands Prelude Stuff that happens in the Shadowlands before most members of Impervious are ever born.
Fractured Glass - Zovaal - Zovaal in the Maw, resolving to fuck shit up someday. Part of October Writing Prompts
A Quiet Night - Renathal trying to cheer up his Sire.
Overcoming Guilt - the Accuser rising to power in Revendreth/crushing on the Curator
By Any Other Name - The Curator learning more about the power and point of names
Masks - General Draven - Draven and Kaal guarding a venthyr party. Part of October Writing Prompts
Extra Spice - The Fearstalker - The Fearstalker with her hopebreakers. Part of October Writing Prompts
Blisterback - How Blisterback ended up in the Ember Ward
Card House (Lie) - Devos - Devos' fall from grace. Part of October Writing Prompts
Crumbling - Droman Aliothe - The start of the drought. Part of October Writing Prompts
Social Climb - The Tithelord - The Tithelord gets drawn into Sire Denathrius' plans. Part of October Writing Prompts
Plagued Shadows - Margrave Stradama - The margrave's fall to madness after her house falls. Part of October Writing Prompts
Fear's Fall - The Fearstalker's failure to protect her siblings (the ending bit does jump forward, but eh. I think it belongs here)
The Mortal Coil Prelude The events that happen on Azeroth leading up to the guild Impervious being made.
Twisted Fate - Amaeria Lightswill falling in love with Gryst'lyn Emberdawn
A Simple Tale - The story of how Gregor Smithson died
Lost Souls - What happens when the Scourge sweeps through
A Naive Hope - Mitchell's first attempts to reverse the plague and his death
Dark Heart - Timmons' backstory and how Liila gets her name
The Everfrost Rose - Liila, Haa'aji, and Timmons adventuring Sprocket's introduction. I want to rewrite this one (actually I have, I just haven't typed up my changes), so of all, this is the most skippable
Role Model - Sethyl Sunblade's backstory before he joins the guild
A Bridge Too Far - 3 Billy Goats Gruff parody. Ta'lim just wants to do a public service, but people suck
Impervious The fic that started all my bullshit <3
Impervious - a group of idiots heroes band together to save the world and piss each other off
When the Fuck Does This Happen The side fics that don't quite fit in the timeline, but were fun to write anyway
A Warlock With A Heart - Liila regales everyone of the proof she has that warlocks are not all terrible sociopaths
A Grouch and His Lady - Nathanos just wants a date with his lady
Mortal Infestation in the Shadowlands The Impervious Canon gets a little wonky here, so bear with me.
Of a Feather Chapters 1 -3 - The start of the Shadowlands bullshit for Liila. Most of this is canon, just there is no weird draw, no soulmates. Eridia still wholeheartedly believes in them in the Impervious Canon, it's just in the 'real' version, she's wrong rofl
Grand Old Time - Vole gets laid
Languid Shadows Chapters 1 & 2 - Prince Renathal in the Maw and Liila getting her ass handed to her by Sire Denathrius. Nothing after that is 'canon'
Of a Feather Chapters 4-19 - Again, everything minus the soulmate thing is Impervious Canon. So there would be little differences, but not much.
Tolling Bells - happens around chapter 18 of Of a Feather.
There's more of the October Writing Prompts that fall in with the canon, but I need to get some work done before tomorrow, so I'm gonna leave this here.
Thank you for your interest in my fics <3 <3

So your editing the story again? What exactly are you changing. Cause based on your recent reblog I'm worried that it's going to change certain parts of the rewrite and I'd like some conformation on some of the parts being edited if you don't mind? I just love this rewrite and want to know if I am overthinking this or not
Indeed. I was actually making a whole post for it but I’ll write it here. The overall story stays the same just the elements change
Nothing to drastic, there's probably more but here's what I got. (Undercut won't work for me) The clans are now the colonies. Thunder Colony, Shadow Colony, Wind Colony, River Colony, and don’t forget Star Colony. Bloodclan stays Bloodclan however. River Colony and Shadow Colony leaders have -moon instead of star due to their greater connection to the moon. Thunder and Wind keep the -star through. Windclan and Shadowclan apprentices don’t have -paw. Kittens don’t have -kit at the end of their names anymore River and Wind are often Royal leadership. Shadowclan is 50/50 while Thunder is leader-deputy most of the time. I actually added the overseers and messengers finally. Just fixing the lore a bit but nothing to crazy. I also added head royals and pelt-makers are now called craft-claws. I’m working on Chapter 9 of book 3 as I edit. So nothing’s really on hold like last time. Thunder Colony cats wears gold on some part of their body. Thunderclan leaders wear golden necklaces with gems the color of their eyes. Shadow Colony like swearing clothes and other human stuff they can use. They also use bones for decoration and rituals. River Colony loves their gems. Riverclan leaders wear crowns with gems of their eyes. Wind Colony is the most ‘modest’ colony. The few gems they use are for clan culture purposes and nothing more. Traditions: After a new leader receives their lives, they wear a piece of the moonstone for at least two moons to help absorb Star Colony’s power. Thunder Colony apprentices must fight for their warrior names, they sit vigil afterwards. New River Colony warriors go on the Great Night Swim and must return with as much of black fish as proof. Wind Colony apprentices have dandelions on their fur constantly, they shake them off when they complete their training. New Shadow Colony warriors stand guard in the daytime for their vigil.
Minor notes/Family tree: Graypool is now Grayfeather of Wind Colony. Reedfeather demanded at least one of his kits so Gray is in Wind Colony Splashsong, Swanlight, and Morningbreeze are born and Mudfur is still their father, however Morning chose to stay in Windclan while Swan and Splash left. Mudthorn and Emberdawn are now characters. Mudthorn is Mudbelly’s son from a relationship with a kittypet and Emberdawn is now part of the MallowFrog family in the same litter as Moss and Silver. Aged down Lilystem and made her Rippleclaw’s mate. Strikeheart is a RaggedstarxFoxheart kitten. Yes this was purely to spite Yellowfang (Murkfang) Flowerdusk and Tawnywhisker are ThrushpeltxBluestar kittens.

Meadowslip and Hickorynose had Sorrelflight and Pigeonwing. MeadowHickoryCrow happened so Sorrel, Pigeon, and Dead see each other as siblings. Stagleap is not related to Doespring or Ryestalk, However, Doe and Rye are littermates since Mousemist (Mistmouse) and Hareflight are their parents. Duskstar and Barkface adopted Ashfoot around 3 moons. Ashfoot and Deadfoot don’t see each other as family and weren’t raised to. Cloudrunner and Aspenfall had Whitetail and Webfoot. Ryestalk had a fling with Marshcloud and had Runningbrook. Larkfoot (Larksplash) and Grasstail had Morningflower as their first litter and Thrushwing and Stoneclaw as their second litter. Ivykit

The families are:
-Yewpaw, Rootpaw, Acornpaw and Adderpaw are siblings, and their grandmother is Spirestar
-Sunfrond and Amberflake are mates (both toms) and Woodkit and Ivykit are their kits. (Amberflake a king (Male queen)).
-Beetlepaw, Cloudypaw and Fogpaw are siblings, their parents are Snowleaf and Duskflight and Snowleaf’s mother is Smokecaw, and her sister is Drizzlesong. Drizzlesong is the foster mother of Rainkit and Spiderkit.
-Sparkwhisker and Smokewisp are siblings, with Pinetalon being their half-sister (with the same dad). Their mother is Flarerunner and Pinetalon’s mother is Hawkthroat. Frogstorm is Sparkwhisker, Smokewisp and Pinetalon’s father but is not mates with either of their mothers.
-Alderstripe and Applefang are mates (both mollies) and their kits are Owlkit, Needlekit and Sagekit.
-Milkpaw and Lizardpaw are siblings, and their aunty is Tulipclaw

(I’m using just their prefixes cause most stuff happens when their warriors)
-Some plot points include later Adder becoming leader and Beetle becoming deputy with Milk being the only healer.
-Lizard, Cloudy, Yew and Root end up killing Spirestar, Sunfrond, Smokecaw and Sparkwhisker so that their siblings can become leader, deputy, and senior healer.
-Even though Spirestar and Smokecaw are their grandmothers, Yew, Root and Cloudy still want their siblings to be important, and Lizard wants Milk to be the most important healer.
-They also kill any cat that could be a threat to their siblings.
-They are more loyal to their siblings then even the rest of their family, like Cloudy ends up killing Duskflight (her father) because he was going to go against Adder and Beetle.
-Eventually Adder, Beetle and Milk find out about what their kin did and their pretty horrified at first especially considering the fact that Spire was also Adder’s mentor and Sun was Beetle’s mentor, they do get over it ( for reason last I can’t think of right now)
Also cause I interact with your blog a lot I was hoping I could be an emoji anon, if your ok with that.
If that’s ok then I’ll be 🐺 anon
(Also I sent in the ask with the 34 cats, and thank you for giving so many names!)
I'm really liking how this is looking!
I esp am interested in a plot where characters want to see their kin succeed instead of themselves [much like I'm now awaiting a Silverhawk novella to learn more about him, his son, and Emberdawn 2]
I imagine even if their fam comes to forgive them, they probably should still be punished for the murders, o/c
but yeah, I think is a neat story idea and the names themselves look really cool, too
o/c my opinion matters little as long as you're happy with your story
/
idm if anons wanna find a way to mark themselves apart at all
I know it helps a bit cause I do have a couple repeat anons
